Why Gateway of India is an Important Landmark in Mumbai
Tumblr media
Our country has produced several significant historical structures. Among these landmarks, the "Gateway of India" is the most well-known in our country.
The Gateway of India is a massive, magnificent gate. Apart from this, the "Gateway of India" is one of Mumbai's few well-known landmarks.
When visiting Mumbai, this is the most popular location. It is located in the South Mumbai district of Colaba.
What does the "Gateway of India" mean?
The building was constructed in 1924. It overlooks Mumbai's harbor, which is located along the Arabian Sea near Apollo Bunder Waterfront. It was primarily built to greet King George V and Queen Mary on their journey to India.
This entrance is especially noteworthy since the last British army departed our nation via the entrance of India in Mumbai.
The gateway is known as the Taj Mahal of Mumbai and represents India's rich past.
The nighttime view of the entrance from the sea rivals the magnificence of the marine road, the Queen's Necklace. This is a must-see attraction in Mumbai, ranking top among all other places.
History of the Gateway of India
The Gateway of India is a magnificent archway in Mumbai, India. It was created in 1911 to honor King George V and Queen Mary's visit to Bombay, as Mumbai was then called.
The Gateway, designed by British architect George Wittet, is recognized as a significant example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, a design aesthetic that mixes elements of Indian and Islamic architecture with elements of European design.
Gateway of India, Mumbai: An Architectural Marvel
The Gateway of India project began in 1911 and was finished in 1924.
The archway is composed of yellow basalt stone and rises 26 meters tall, with elaborate carvings and ornamentation.
The Gateway of India has become a symbol of Mumbai and an essential landmark in the city throughout the years.
The last British troops left India via the Gateway of India in 1947, thereby ending British colonial control. The Gateway of India is now a major tourist site, with tourists coming from all over the world to marvel at its beauty and historical significance.
The surrounding neighborhood has recently been converted into a busy center packed with street sellers, stores, restaurants, and cafés, making it a bright and fascinating destination to explore.
What is the best method for me to get to the Gateway of India?
The Gateway of India is located in the Mumbai neighborhood of Colaba and is easily accessible by taxi, private vehicle, local rail, bus, and boat.
Visitors can take a cab or a private automobile to Churchgate railway station and then walk to the Gateway.
When is the ideal time to visit the Gateway of India?
Personal preferences dictate the ideal time to visit the Gateway of India; however, the winter months (October to February) are the most enjoyable, with cold and pleasant weather.
The monsoon season (June to September) can be rather wet, yet the rains bring with them fresh and lush foliage. The summer months (March to May) may be hot and humid, making it difficult to navigate the city.

India Gate is not our legacy; it is a stain on our collective conscience. | Thakur Dalip Singh Ji
Tumblr media
Watch Video : https://youtu.be/8xPvesCbpjE
We may not believe it when someone tells us that the “India Gate” in Delhi, India’s capital, is a stain on all of our minds, but it is true.
The present Namdhari Guru, Thakur Dalip Singh ji, thinks that the British built the India Gate and Gateway of India on Indian Territory as a symbol of servitude. Both of these structures should be demolished and turned into a symbol of Indian independence.
Foreign invaders (Muslims and British) assaulted our land of India from time to time and made us their slaves. However, we Indians have been living in a free country for the previous 75 years. Prior to this, the British ruled over us Indians for about 200 years. During this time, the British constructed several historic buildings and other structures on Indian Territory for example, Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate, Gateway of India, Victoria Memorial, St. Mary’s Church, and so on. Some of these are a stain on our minds as Indians. However, we are proudly displaying them to the people out of ignorance, thinking them to be our history.
Even though we were liberated from the British, we were unable to remove the traces of slavery left by them. It’s remarkable that no Indian has ever objected to it. The British-built India Gate and Gateway of India, both on Indian land, are symbols of slavery. These relics of enslavement must be eliminated. It is also critical to understand and embrace the harsh truth of these indicators in order for our mind to become a remover of them.
Why is India Gate in Delhi a stigma in the minds of Indians?
The British erected India Gate (Delhi) in remembrance and homage of those British Bhagat Indian traitors who subjugated their nation by slaughtering their compatriots. When the British arrived in India, they brought just a tiny force; the rest of the army was built by enlisting individuals from our nation who did the British’s work; they were traitors to the country. While working for the British, the people of our country murdered their compatriots and turned India into a British colony. This individual was likewise a traitor to the country. Those who, like an Indian, travelled overseas while working for the British for money, slaughtered their compatriots there, and made their nation a slave of the British, were also traitors to the country.
These traitors’ names are inscribed on the India Gate. Country lovers, do you believe that monument may be regarded an Indian heritage? The sun symbol on India Gate is not our sun god’s sun sign. This sun sign represents the fact that the British sun never set from east to west over the British Empire.
As a result, India Gate and the Gateway of India, the iconic symbols of slavery, should be demolished, and India’s one-of-a-kind freedom monument should be constructed instead. There are indications of freedom in our nation, but no unique symbol of Indian independence. The remainder of the countries have abandoned the stigma scars left by foreign conquerors on autonomous territory. But we Indians have carefully preserved them and proudly display them as well.
The pillar of Emperor Ashoka is a unique emblem of India. At the site of India Gate, a tower or turret modelled like Emperor Ashoka’s pillar should be constructed. Along with it, a monument resembling a map of India was constructed on one side of the freedom warriors (those who died for the country’s independence with patriotism prior to 1947). For example, images and titles of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Rajguru, Subhash Chandra Bose, and others should be lighted, and films on nationalists should be shown on huge screens.
Note: The notion of destroying India Gate and the Gateway of India is entirely mine (Thakur Dalip Singh Present Namdhari Guru) and my sect’s autonomous stance. No religious or political body can protest to the collapse of India Gate, the terrible emblem of slavery. Because this stigma affects all Indians. Jai Bharat
