I wanted to use my platform to speak on this real quick because people are spreading dangerous misinformation about this kind soul. ▫️ . 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱: Garrett was open carrying an AR-15, which is a small caliber civilian weapon that fires a single bullet. He was marching, along with his fiancé in a wheelchair, with a big group in the street. The police did not block cross traffic with their bikes as they have in the past. Angry man in a dark blue car drove into crowd, waited for people to surround the vehicle so he could claim self defense. He targeted Garrett specifically and shot first, 5-8 times.▫️ . 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱: They say Garrett had an AK-47, which is a larger caliber military weapon that fires multiple bullets at a time. They say Garrett shot first or pointed the gun at the car, but he is clearly seen in footage pointing it at the ground. They are calling him a terrorist. Facebook etc is full of trolls laughing at him and celebrating his death. Our POTUS himself already retweeted a post mocking him yesterday. ▫️ There were people open carrying the same weapons a few months ago over reopening the economy with signs that said "I WANT A HAIRCUT" and none of them were assassinated and mocked.▫️ . Garrett Foster was not a terrorist. Nothing could be further from the truth. I didn't know him well but I observed his character every night. He was a gentle giant, always keeping watch over his fiancé, Whitney. He wasn't one of the ones throwing rocks at cops or burning flags. He was supporting his beloved, keeping her safe while fighting for a cause that effects them both. Police in Austin, Texas are investigating the fatal shooting of a protester at a Black Lives Matter march. According to reports, 28-year-old Garrett Foster was shot and killed after a chaotic altercation with a motorist. He was attending the protest against police violence and had been pushing the wheelchair of his fiancée, Whitney Mitchell, 28, who is a quadruple amputee.  Austin police are investigating what occurred between Foster, who they said was carrying an AK-47-style rifle during the protest, and the driver, who called police to report that he’d shot someone, reports Dallas News. Accounts have varied on what led to the shooting, police said. Witnesses reported just before 10 p.m. Saturday, a car turned down the street toward the protesters and the driver started honking its horn. The vehicle stopped in the roadway, police said, and Foster approached the driver’s side window as others began striking the car. The driver then opened fire, striking Foster. Foster was taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after. Authorities said at a news conference Sunday that the driver reported Foster pointed his weapon at them before the shooting. KVUE-TV reported that police have said Foster did not discharge his weapon, but the chief did say someone else in the crowd did return fire as the car left the scene. Police said they have released the driver while they investigate what led to the fatal shooting.
