I've finally finished a full rewatch of Fallout (I'm 60, I don't "binge") and I'd like to share my thoughts. War never changes....

First my bona fides - With the exception of the original, I've played every game, including the accursed Fallout '76 as well as both BoS and the Overseer games. I've played 3, New Vegas, and 4, including side quests and downloadable content, through multiple times and would estimate that I easily have well over 500 hours of gameplay across the series. All of this is to say, I can't watch the series without bias, it's impossible for me to not view it with that history.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. Full stop. The casting was excellent, the story was different enough that I don't think you need to play the game to follow, but with enough easter eggs for fans thrown in. It's by far the best video game adaption that I've seen (and I've seen them all). If you like dystopian fiction, it's worth a viewing. Potential spoilers for game / series under the cut.

Some random thoughts... - I never played the original, but I know the plot, so it was hilarious when a character asked about a "Water Chip" - The BoS storyline rang true to me. The BoS has always sort of zealots, this was no surprise. - Enjoyed most of the inworld visual and character designs, lots of nods to fans (Nuka Cola, Power Armor repair stands, tons of food references), but was a little bummed about no Super Mutants (maybe season 2?). - Also odd that the only intro we have to ferals is Lucy's mom, and if you didn't play the game I imagine that had to be confusing. - The meeting with all the corpos and their different ideas for vaults, almost all examples were actual vaults in-game across the series. - Vault 31 all be Vault-Tec in cryo (Fallout 4) was brilliant, including the toady as a robo-brain. - Vault-Tec starting the war was an interesting idea, and not out of the realm of possibility in-game - I might have gasped at the deathclaw skull (I totally did) - I loved dogmeat, though felt like the character wasn't always used effectively, and they way they were introduced was awesome.

Your quick reminder that as of 23 Aug the game voice actors (represented SAG-AFTRA) are still on strike so much as I'm looking forward to several new or soon to be released games, I'm not buying ANYTHING till that is resolved.

reminder to myself and whoever else needs it to stop feeding the machine. I'm aware I'm yelling into the void but look at the past couple years of games. They're pushing $70, $80, $100!!! for games that are completely unfinished, unpolished, and sometimes completely unplayable. Yes the game showcases were cool. The doom game looks sick and I don't even go there, but they're shaking the shiny keys to distract you and get you swept up in the hype. They're going to push so much fomo marketing to get you to jump for it full price.

Wait for sales. Wait and buy a used copy. Hell, wait a couple days (even hours!!!) after launch and reviews and breakdowns will start coming out. Our game backlogs are already packed, and mr big AAA studio can deal with some of us waiting to see if they actually delivered what was promised.

its kind of complicated since geek doesnt really . exist . in the telltale games universe which these guys live in 👆 but i imagine the trio comes along after the geek starts living in sam and maxes basement and they hang out together : ) she wants to dissect them
