pattern art to get in the fall spirit and take up space while I do a life update. I've accomplished a few things, books, video games and then some life issues.

So easy stuff first I guess. I finished one of my goals of reading a Harry Potter book in spanish. I read the first book. It took me all year because it was a major brain fart/humbler. Reason why I chose HP was because its made for kids and it was familiar. I did NOT understand everything but luckily digital devices come equipped with a translation dictionary. About halfway through the book is when I had my first notebook with my art made. Whenever I get to book 2 my plan is to write down words that I had trouble with. There were 3 words in the first book that showed up frequently that kept confusing me but I didn't write them down haha. So I cant tell you.

Secondly I finished playing Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West back to back. That took me..ages..when I first turned on HFW I was like "oh..thats the map..this is tiny" and well somehow I put double the man hours into the sequel than the original game with the DLC. Think I finished HZD in 50 or 60 hours after completing everything that game had to offer. 100% completion. HFW Id been playing for 90 and I didn't complete everything and just kinda said "eff this" and finished it. I like open world games. I'd play a third game, probably wont get to a dlc I dont generally do those on purpose.

My issue is though is I still don't like the character designs. I think HZD was the superior game. I kind of like the doom and gloom apocalypse back story and I like the idea of our modern life being somebody elses ruins. I like that. But everything else, the over story, the character designs..its like putting a jak and daxter style design on a serious story of The Last of Us. It didn't go. We needed to either choose if we were being serious or not. The sequel I enjoyed the gameplay but I think it suffered from being a sequel. Its getting too big for its britches. I dont like the space stuff. I dont like the immortality stuff.

so not my favorite game of all time but I'd play another.

I was playing disney dreamlight but I think Ill move on here soon to Ooblets to fill in time.

My grandma died. It was not unexpected especially after seeing her for the final time a few weeks ago and I could tell she wasn't going to make it much longer. The thing that kinda bothered me or reassured me the most is..atleast gramma wasn't aware of what was going on. She's told me to my face how much the death of her siblings years before traumatized her and how she's afraid of dying. Really afraid we're all going to hell. If she could see herself on her deathbed she would absolutely freak out.

seeing her at the viewing again, was kinda sad. She just looked uncomfortable. People say "atleast now they're at peace" nah, gramma looked just as uncomfortable as when I saw her the other weekend. Its amazing how my brain remembers her from a few years ago and that viewing-experience just did not look like the gramma that I knew.

its just another phase of life coming to an end.

we've had it rough this past year. Husband lost his dad, we lost our cat at the same time and I've lost 2 grandmothers.

My work called me off the entirety of last week so I havent worked in over a week. Todays my first day back and I was asked to come in late. So I'ma have like..no paycheck..but whatever I guess.

so anywho I havent managed to be creative. I did manage to draw a bit yesterday so I may paint something but I dont know think it'll meet any sort of standard or expectation.

Game Blog - Hotel Remorse

Every once in a while, I find myself shopping for some free to play games and sometimes I find a gem or two among them. This game started off pretty good, the mechanics were easy, the narrative was very straightforward and easy to understand, the aesthetics were interesting, The story wasn’t what I was expecting at first, which was fine. Unfortunately, I think the only thing that took away from the immersion of it was the almost unnecessary jump scares at the end, None of the images lined up the loud sounds are not something I enjoy, It felt like they had something going that was a fun experience then threw a weird jump scare in there that felt like it would have been more intimidating if the jump scare hadn’t been there. I know some people may enjoy that sort of thing but not really my thing. The rest of the game I enjoyed quite a bit though there was one part where I was having a hard time figuring out where to go because I literally couldn’t see anything for a bit. Other than that for a one shot not bad, I would probably play it again from time to time just for the fun of it. Sadly it didn’t really spook me hard enough unfortunately, but then again stereotypical jump scares don’t really work on me because it becomes too predictable at a certain point and no longer holds a fear inducing effect. It was fun though don’t get me wrong and if you want to try it for yourself it’s free on steam so go for it.

IT'S BACK!

After a long and painful year wait, Attack On Titan is releasing new episodes!

I was heartbroken when I heard they were probably going to discontinue the anime after the manga was finished. So, when the boyfriend excitedly told me tonight there was 4 new episodes I wasnt going to let them go unwatched.

We watched all 4 tonight lol. It's been so long since I've watched it, I forgot how horrible keep the cliffhangers were. At the end of each episode I found myself yelling at the TV in frustration lol. They really know to to get under your skin with their endings.

So from here on out, Sundays are Attack On Titan day!

Gonna pull out my old doodles from 10s of years ago because I dont have anything else.

I finished Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. That has taken me literal months to finish and over 200 hours. I don't know if its my age showing but I was kind of over it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good open world, clear the map game. I think this game was just so huge, I was over it. The other thing to is, though it turns out that I don't remember BOTW that well, it felt kind of obvious that I had already explored Hyrule once and unlocked a bunch of shrines in the last game. Adding the upside down and sky to another Hyrule made it feel a bit like a chore. It was fun at first because I like clearing a map but then I got tired. I'm not a fan of building things so I barely touched that part of the game at all and I didn't enjoy the parts where it forced me to do so. I also learned by the final battle that I just sucked at fighting as well. Primarily I just ran around. I avoided fights and climbed and explored. Horses were pretty useless. I probably would have defeated the final battle in the climbing gear had I not at the last minute decided to upgrade my one champions shirt because I'm a hoarder and had all the upgrades for it and didn't realize.

Otherwise I appreciate that the difficulty wasn't crazy hard or scary. Growing up I found a lot of Zelda boss battles to be frightening but the risk in this one just wasn't there. I mean I beat the final battle with all but 4 of my hearts gloomed over because I'm stupid. I'm not really complaining about this because I just don't want difficulty anymore. I want story and relaxation.

The hardest part about the game, in my opinion, was it had a steep learning curve at the beginning, like controls wise. I, for the life of me could not figure out ultrahand for a long time. Trying to figure out how rotation worked, took me a dizzyingly long time. I also, for a long time could not figure out how to throw items. I kept accidentally throwing my weapons but I couldn't figure out how to throw bombs without attaching it to a weapon. How old am I that I can't figure out basic controller commands? I kept thinking about my Gramma (RIP) who loved zelda games, she would not be able to play this game if I was struggling.

That being said I will still always play zelda games. I had fonder memories from previous zelda games though.

I'm a bit behind on games because my husband did take the PS5 with him overseas. But I binge watched Jedi Survivor the other weekend like a movie because I can't play it, but now I wish I had waited til next year when my husband comes back. Even watching it as a movie, it gave me all the feels. Like all of them. Its been my favorite game of the year and I didn't even play it (/sad).

I know everybody else is playing Baldurs Gate 3. I'm feeling FOMO. Technically I have a gaming PC and technically my old laptop still works (thats kinda iffy tho). But my dog does not like me being on the desktop computer. I can't commit to another 200 hour game sitting at a desktop with this dog. Somebody out there will say "its a dumb dog get over it" but not with the way she complains. I'd be better off waiting for the ps5 again.

Next I'm still playing Disney Dreamlight Valley, just to check the shop for new items and I'll get the DLC /expansion when it comes out.

But I also downloaded Xenoblade 2. I was debating whether I wanted to skip it and play Xenoblade 3 immediately but nah. I also want to play Octopath Traveler 2 but I just played OT1 before Zelda so I'm alternating titles.

Day #1

Alright! Day number 1: an explanation.

I’ve always been a gamer, ever since my parents dragged our very heavy sofa in front of our small TV and booted up our game-cube when I was younger.

Recently, what with university (BSc and MSc), I have lost touch with my gaming side. I am looking to remedy that, hence this blog!

I will be playing games ranging from those that hold a special place in my heart (WoW, 7DTD) to games that I would never have usually had the motivation to try. Recommendations will be taken on board!

For now, this will be a screen-shot based blog, but I will hopefully be implementing videos/game streams at a later date.

I aim to bring some walk-through/guides and maybe some cool builds - depending on what I’m playing!

Current playing mood

So recently I’ve really gotten back into playing Overwatch. I finally started playing Competitive games, and I’m not a total failure at it. I have come to realize that I don’t think I could ever play it on a console. I like the setup of the game on the keyboards. Up until probably 5 years ago, I only gamed on console. I never dreamed I would have spent $700 on a gaming computer, and be so into gaming as what I am. I guess I have my ex to thank for that. 

Anyway getting back on track... I was so proud of myself for reaching level 200 in Overwatch, only to realize I had to hit 201 to actually start over again and get my star. Talk about a ball buster. 

Overall I’m really enjoying the changes that have been happening to Overwatch, since it first launched. I am super excited for the Halloween event, and will hopefully review the events and skins.
