Ik hou van spelen met taal. Het letterlijk husselen van letters of figuurlijk een beeld schetsen waar nog geen woord voor bestond. Met een extra ‘a’ maak je ‘taalent’ en van een ‘l’ te weinig wordt ‘woordspelling’ vanzelf ‘woordspeling’.

Via taal leg ik een verband dat zo natuurlijk lijkt als het eenmaal ligt, al is het nog zo ingewikkeld. Taal heelt me als ik gebroken ben, een verband als het ware, of ik ga er juist stuk om.

Een goede metafoor vinden is alsof je voet aan nieuw land zet. Je bent vast niet de eerste die er op is gekomen, maar het blijft een ontdekking. Je brengt iets voor jezelf in kaart en raakt zo de weg minder snel kwijt.

Ik noem het metaforie, de euforie die vrijkomt bij metaforisch denken. En ik ben de metaforens die beeldspraak als zijn levenswerk ziet, wonend in een wereld waar daden het hogere woord hebben.

Het is alsof…nee, ik doe alsof het onbekende reeds bekend is door het met iets anders te vergelijken. Zo wapen ik mezelf voor de tweestrijd in mijn hoofd. Altijd maar hetzelfde is veilig, maar het brengt geen vrede. De oorlog woedt voort tot ik de bijl begraaf of ‘m erbij neergooi.  

Onzekerheid is altijd al mijn aartsvijand geweest. En een verschrikkelijke lafbek. Hij schiet met een gebakkenluchtbuks, nooit om te doden. Liever ziet hij me terug naar mijn nest kruipen, als door hem aangeschoten wild.

De kogeltjes vormen samen een bullet hell, zoals dat zo mooi heet bij twin stick shooters. In dit gamegenre blijven de projectielen maar komen, soms met wel honderden tegelijk. Je instinct is om te schuilen voor de kogelregen, maar daarmee schiet je jezelf juist in de vingers.

Wie altijd vlucht, zit ook gevangen. Ontsnappen lukt alleen als je terug blijft vechten. Moet je alleen nog even je linker en rechter hersenhelft met de rechter en linker stick zien te coördineren. Als daar geen mooie analogie in zit.

Now a few weeks back I did "100 questions Q&A about me" well I thought why not do a 100 questions to ask a gamer. Since I am a gamer I thought why not? So here we go. Here is part 3

52) What is your opinion on microtransactions in video games? Be careful you can lose a lot of money that way.

1) What is your favourite video game of all time? Tricky but the first one that comes to mind is Grand Theft Auto Vice City (2002)

2) What is the first video game you ever played? Now that is a tricky one it is either Super Mario 64 (1996) or Tomb Raider (1996)

3) Are you more into single-player or multiplayer games? It all depends on the game but when I was younger it was definitely multiplayer. As I have gotten older it's single player.

4) What gaming platform do you prefer (e.g., PC, console, mobile)? Console.

5) Do you have a favourite gaming genre? If so, what is it? Third person or RPG

6) What is the most challenging game you've ever played? You know I don't know.

7) Have you ever completed a game 100%? Yes.

8) What game do you think has the best storyline? I don't know

9) Are you a competitive gamer or more of a casual player? I am extremely competitive.

10) What is your preferred control scheme (keyboard and mouse, controller, etc.)? Controller

19) What is your opinion on DLCs and expansions? They shouldn't be so highly priced.

20) Do you prefer open-world games or linear story-driven games? Depends on the game if you can mix the two then you have got a great game.

22) What is your favourite video game soundtrack? Don't have one.
