Been playing a cozy game I enjoyed immensely as a child. It’s so fun! It’s called Wizard Of Oz Beyond The Yellow Brick Road (it’s a DS game but I lost my DSi so I’m playing it through an emulator on my computer!) hence the screenshot quality! 🥹✨

After Apple loosened its App Store guidelines to permit game emulators, the retro game emulator Delta — an app 10 years in the making — hit the top of the App Store’s charts. But the increased attention also brought the threat of legal action, as Adobe targeted Delta for sporting a logo that looked too much like its own. Delta’s game emulator was built by developer Riley Testut, who had begun his experiments in this space by figuring out how to load games onto graphing calculators, before turning to iOS. The app itself evolved from Testut’s older app, GBA4iOS, which leveraged a loophole to run emulated games on iOS without jailbreaking an iPhone. Consumer demand for such an app was high — millions of people used GBA4iOS while it was available. But Apple eventually locked things down and put GBA4iOS out of business.

When I first started watching other people play nuzlocks of Pokémon, it seemed like such a fun idea. But I don't have the patience or the emotional stamina to play a true nuzlock.

Because I'm looking for a distraction from life right now, I'm making my own challenge.

Da Rules

1. Every pokemon must be given a name (from nuzlocks rules). The name must stick with the challenge theme, including the trainer and rival characters.

2. I can catch one pokemon per route, but it must be the first I can successfully catch. Pokemon isn't cute? Oh well (that's the hard part for me). I can reroll on duplicate encounters, but duplicates are not off limits.

3. No leveling past the gym leader's ace (stolen from hardcore nuzlocks)

4. If possible, play without checking the internet for walk throughs (if I were really a trainer, I wouldn't have a walk through)

btw if someone knows how to make silent hill: shattered memories work on the ps2 emulator ToT , it gets all the graphics wrong! it doesn’t happen with the silent hill 2 and 3

I got most of the base of the CPU worked out on my NES emulator using references to 6502 Assembly and Rust binary arithmetic to implement the 6502 Op Codes. It was hard because originally I didn't update the flags and define the op code functions in the right place because the documentation I was following basically didn't provide the info on where to put it >_> But I wrote my tests at the bottom and in the main.rs file I defined a function that if everything passed on the CPU it would print out "Hello Rusty NES" to show me it works! Today I am going to work a little on RAM management but @emoryvalentine14 and I are going to kill some Roblox zombies soon so it will be after while :D It's going to be a while before the NES emulator is going to be live but I plan to host it on itch.io for 2.99$ along with some NES games I am personally deving in pure 6502 Assembly :| because I am a glutton for punishment.

We’re actively going to not let you play our older titles because fuck you. Basically. I’ve never seen a company so hostile to the idea of archiving old stuff, they just want it to be buried forever where no one can touch it unless they decide to remaster it. At this point if you don’t wanna emulate older stuff like the pokemon games you have to buy the expensive old consoles from second hand stores and shit and those often have the problem of if they break, they’re done cus you probably won’t find somewhere to actually repair them. Then you have to find a copy of the game, which is also expensive and difficult. Most people don’t have the spare cash to chase old game consoles and cartridges so the emulators and ROMs become the only viable and realistic option and alternative to actually play these old games. A lot of them won’t be remastered and despite Nintendo saying “oh no we’ll just make more games with the same characters” that’s not the same thing as being able to play the *old* games.
