fun semantic question - if someone is doing a pacifist run of a video game, is it better to go by pure game statistics (i.e if the game doesnt track it as a kill, youre fine) or by common sense (if you lead an enemy into an environmental trap, even though you technically didnt kill them, you still totally killed them)?

Every gamer wants to get at least a bit of a challenge out of his or her games. There is a point at which a game can be too frustrating and no longer enjoyable as a result, but easy games are just boring.  If a game is easy to coast through over a couple afternoons, then beating it will not feel like an accomplishment. It will feel like you just wasted a couple afternoons, and the money you spent on the game. The most challenging video games are often the most fun, but everyone finds different genres challenging.
