The Ministry of Works and Transport is a large sector Ministry made up of a number of Statutory Authorities, State Enterprises and Administrative / Technical Divisions. Established in 1956, MOWT is one of the largest ministries in Trinidad and Tobago with over 7,000 employees responsible for providing the infrastructure services necessary for the social and economic development of the country.   In keeping with its mandate, the Ministry provides a range of services to its clientele and the general public which includes: construction and maintenance of highways, major and secondary roads under the authority of the Ministry. VISION: The Ministry of Works and Transport is a strong, innovative, client-centered, well respected institution committed to the social and economic development of the people of Trinidad and Tobago, through the provision of high quality infrastructure development ad transportation services that enable the growth of safe, healthy communities and globally competitive businesses within a vibrant natural environment. MISSION We provide world class infrastructure and transport that supports the development of a ‘united, resilient, productive, innovative and prosperous’ Trinidad and Tobago; through a motivated team of employees working in collaboration with local and international partners.

Did you know? During quarantine, stats actually show there was an increase in road fatalities? Less people on the road and more accidents.  We urge everyone, practice responsible driving. Lives are important!

Who could resist the promise of ���Driving Towards Transformation?’ The “O’ being a steering wheel and the other a triple sphere to me is a bit much, but I can see whomever ok’d these wanting to send the message home.

Established in 1956, the Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) is one of the largest ministries in Trinidad and Tobago with over 7,000 employees responsible for providing the infrastructure and transport services necessary for the social and economic development of the country.
In keeping with its mandate, the Ministry provides a range of services to its clientele and the general public which includes:
National planning for roads, drainage and transportation (air, sea and land)
Construction and maintenance of highways, major and secondary roads, dams and drainage systems; land reclamation; and coastal management in collaboration with stakeholders
Advice on, as well as, the construction and maintenance of government buildings and facilities and MOWT buildings and facilities
Advice on Maritime related matters
Advice on the purchase, repair and maintenance of the transport fleet of state agencies
Traffic Management
Registration, classification, licensing and inspection of vehicles
Issuance of drivers’ permits
Enforcement of laws under the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act
Management and control of shipping within Trinidad and Tobago waters
Registration, licensing, survey, inspection and certification of ships
Enforcement of maritime laws
Negotiation and monitoring of air service agreements
