July 4th
It is July 4th! In years past, I spent most of the day at a location (usually a park) good for watching fireworks. In the evening, from a good spot on the grass, I enjoyed the fireworks display. I did this when I lived in Maryland and also when I lived in Gainesville, FL. Here are some photos of a park in Gainesville on the 4th of July 8 years ago (from my old weight loss blog at https://moorefo1.tumblr.com/). I recall that the fireworks display in the evening was spectacular!

Notice that the park was crowded. A lot of people visit parks on the 4th of July. They make it a family affair.

What is Pediatric Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease?
Tumblr media
The esophagus carries food from the mouth to the stomach. There is a valve-type muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter that relaxes to let food pass from the esophagus into the stomach. When this valve does not function correctly, it causes food and acid to come back up into the esophagus. Intermittent gastroesophageal reflux of gastric acid can normally occur in infancy and most will outgrow it by the time they turn 1 year old. In children older than 2, GER that occurs more than twice a week could be GERD.
GERD is a more serious and long-term form of reflux. In children with GERD, the LES muscle is developed but weak, which causes it to relax and allow food to flow back into the esophagus. If left untreated, GERD can lead to complications such as inflammation of the esophagus, respiratory problems, and poor growth.
If you're looking for your child's digestive health, we're here to help. Our pediatric specialists at Pediatric Specialty Care in Gainesville GA are experienced in diagnosing and treating GERD and other digestive disorders in children. Contact us today to schedule an appointment and get your child the care they need.
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): This is a more serious and long-term type of reflux. In babies and children with GERD, the sphincter muscle is developed but weak, relaxing to allow food to flow back into the esophagus.
Signs and Symptoms:
Babies and toddlers (birth to 3-years old)
The main symptom of acid reflux in babies and toddlers is spitting up. GERD can also cause additional symptoms in babies including:
Arching back, often after eating
Coughing
Forceful or frequent vomiting
Gagging
Irritability
Poor eating
Poor weight gain (Failure to Thrive)
Refusing to eat
Trouble swallowing
Weight loss
Wheezing or trouble breathing
Colic (crying for periods of three hours or more without a medical reason)
Children 3 to 12-years old
Children between the ages of 3 to 12 typically do not have GERD; however, they may experience the following symptoms:
Bad breath
Nausea/Vomiting
Pain in the chest or upper abdomen
Problems swallowing or painful swallowing
Respiratory issues
Wearing down of teeth
How Is GERD Diagnosed?
Doctors use several tests to diagnose GERD. Children will certainly have their medical history rechecked and get another physical exam. Your child’s doctor may also use a combination of the following:
X-rays (upper GI series)
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD): A test in which a thin tube with a camera is inserted through your child’s mouth, passed through the esophagus into the stomach and small intestine.
Esophageal pH probe study: A test in which a monitor is used to measure how often stomach acid enters the esophagus and how long it stays there.
Esophageal manometry: A test during which a thin tube is inserted through your child’s nose into his stomach. It measures the strength of muscle contractions throughout the digestive tract.
Not every child needs all these tests. Your physician will tell you exactly what the next steps are. Our diverse group of specialists see over 1,000 children a month, and we have the resources to diagnose and treat a range of conditions.
How Is GERD Treated?
Children with gastroesophageal reflux disease tend to respond well to lifestyle changes or medications, while infants with GERD usually outgrow it by their first or second birthday. Your child’s doctor may recommend the following treatments for GERD:
It is important to adjust and make lifestyle changes, such as:
Staying upright for three hours after eating
Elevating the head of the bed
Avoiding chocolate, peppermint and caffeine
Avoiding cigarette smoke
Weight management
Medication options may also be recommended, for example:
Antacids to neutralize stomach acid
H-2 blockers to block the amount of acid that is released in the stomach
Proton pump inhibitors to decrease the amount of acid produced in the stomach
Surgery used for GERD patients is known as a Fundoplication, which is a procedure to prevent stomach acid from backing up into the esophagus. Surgery involves wrap the upper part of the stomach around the end of the esophagus to put pressure on the lower end of the esophagus.

Part one-Life as an early AIDS patient.
In 1981, the first accounts of the disease that would come to be known as AIDS was published in the journal Morbidity and Morality Weekly Report, Published by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention[1]. A cluster of homosexual men had come down with a mysterious illness. Within two years, the virus that causes the disease (human immunodeficiency virus) had been identified[2] The disease mostly affected young, previously healthy people. Most of the first AIDS patients were part of the LGBTQ community, primarily men who had sex with men. In fact, the disease was known as Gay-related immune deficiency (GRID) in the early 1980s.[3] before the terms AIDS “Human immunodeficiency virus” was coined. Because the disease primarily affected those in the LGBTQ community, there was increased stigma surrounding it. However, research in 1984 confirmed transmission outside the LGBTQ+ community[4].
For early AIDS patients, there was not much medical technology available to ease suffering. Most patients ended up in the ER or hospice with a short period of time to live. The disease caused a variety of symptoms including dramatic weight loss, pneumonia, skin lesions, and blindness[5]. AZT, the first drug for AIDS patients, cost 10,000 dollars a year[5]. The drug did not cure patients but prolonged their life expectancy. Many AIDS patients were unable to take the drug due to side effects and cost [5]. A 1993 study later showed AZT was not very effective against the AIDS virus5. Many patients turned to off market, non FDA approved drugs in attempt to improve their quality of life[5]. ACT UP, an AIDS activist group, protested the lack of approval of DHPG, another drug to treat late stage AIDS, which was not approved by the FDA. The drug could prevent blindness caused by AIDS. Eventually the FDA agreed with ACT UP and approved the drug in 1989[5]. It was not until 1994 that a new, more potent class of drugs was discovered for AIDS, including a drug called Saquinavir[5]. Most AIDS patients relied on a cocktail of drugs to manage their disease.
There was a tremendous amount of stigma and fear surrounding the disease. Many patients relied on care from their partners and friends rather than from medical professionals. Fear of catching the disease sometimes led patients to be denied medical care. Some nurses refused to treat AIDS patients[6]. For those who did seek medical treatment towards the end of their lives, they, in some cases, waited days for an ER bed, such as in New York City[5]. After their deaths, they would likely have trouble with receiving a proper funeral. When people died at the hospital their bodies were put into black trash bags. Many funeral parlors would not take people who had died of AIDS5. In fact, The New York State funeral director’s association recommended against embalming those who had died of AIDS.[7]
Much has changed since the 1980s. Today, for those with access to medical technology who detect HIV early on, life expectancy is nearly normal[8]. The disease can be managed for decades and patients can live a relatively normal life. These drugs that help manage the disease are not accessible to everyone worldwide, and in some countries (such as United States), treatment is costly. In addition, the disease is still largely stigmatized worldwide[9]. While we now know that casual contact does not spread the disease, fear of the disease resulting in homophobia is still very much present.

Tumblr media
In this way, set aside effort to get arranged before you go all out keto. While you're setting up your nourishment, set up your mentality. "It's difficult to roll out a major improvement, so truly consider what's going to keep you on target," Whittel says. "For me, it is extremely useful to interface my day by day nourishment decisions to the greater 'why.' Everyone has their very own purposes for their wellbeing decisions and other individual objectives that drive their enthusiasm for keto. Get clear about your 'why' and afterward help yourself to remember it regularly." It may assist with considering keto a direction for living rather than a convenient solution diet, she includes.
At first, Whittel prescribes adhering to keto as near 100% as could reasonably be expected. "This will bolster the body's metabolic progress into ketosis," she says. (Ketosis is a metabolic state where the body copies put away fat for vitality rather than glucose.) "Remember that not far off, there will probably be space to appreciate a glass of wine, a keto rendition of your preferred pastry, or even a more elevated level of starches all the more routinely." So, by pleasing these "treats," you can evade the snare of win big or bust reasoning, which Whittel says makes it simpler to get again into keto on the off chance that you do wander.
Managing loved ones when you go keto
In some cases the hardest piece of rolling out a major improvement to the manner in which you eat is managing others' responses. Best case scenario, they may scrutinize your decision; even under the least favorable conditions, they may turn up at your entryway with a bin weighed down with refined sugars.
"On the off chance that somebody is attempting to 'damage' your earnest attempts, practice respectfully declining with an expression of your decision," Whittel says. She recommends saying something like, "I'm happy with what I'm eating," or "I'm making sense of what works best for my body at this moment," or "A debt of gratitude is in order for your anxiety, yet I have this."
Another test can be in case you're eating keto however the remainder of your family isn't. Right now, recommends cooking keto as the fundamental part of a dinner, at that point offering sugar sides for the non-keto eaters. For example, cook steak and simmered asparagus with spread for everybody, at that point have some sweet potatoes or rice as a side alternative.

Keto has certain advantages, however it isn't for everybody
Consuming put away muscle to fat ratio for fuel has its advantages. In any case, in case you're wanting to go keto to get in shape, you have to realize that it represents certain reactions and entanglements. For a certain something, you could recover the weight you lost when you backpedal on sugars. Furthermore, if not done right, the eating routine can help your danger of coronary illness and diabetes. Actually, on the off chance that you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, specialists state you shouldn't go on a keto diet without your primary care physician's recommendation and supervision.
At last, know that keto can aggravate you feel a little before you feel good. Purported "keto influenza" can incorporate both physical and passionate indications, including cramps, blockage, sickness, keto breath, low vitality, weakness, and emotional episodes. (learn more about Keto Diets)
"Your body is changing in accordance with new nourishments, and your digestion is acclimating to utilizing fat as its essential fuel," Whittel clarifies. During this time, it's extremely essential to remain hydrated, eat enough salt to keep your electrolytes adjusted, in light of the fact that your body discharges less insulin on keto, making the kidneys discharge more sodium, and rest when required. Digestive problems in babies are common. But these issues are tough to identify since babies may show a number of symptoms ranging from spitting food, lack of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation. Most babies look restless and fussy during digestive issues. It is recommended to seek pediatric care for babies behaving unusually or crying since it can be painful. The digestive system gradually matures over time. So exposure to certain factors can cause concerns.
Reflux
Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) refers to the involuntary passage of gastric contents into the esophagus (food pipe). Infants are more prone to reflux, and it gets better as they grow in age. Various factors, including a milk-based diet and immature gastroesophageal junction, are responsible for higher rates of GER in babies.
When to see the doctor?
Reflux usually gets better as the baby grows, but do not hesitate to see your pediatrician if you see the following symptoms.
Vomiting especially if green or reddish in color
Reduced appetite or refusing feed
Weight loss or lack of weight gain
Rattling sound in the baby’s chest and back
Breathing difficulty during feeding
Choking spells
Vomiting
Vomiting is defined as the forceful expulsion of gastric contents through the mouth and/or nose. Infants spit up small amounts during feeding, after feeding, or while burping. The amount expelled is typically less than 5-10ml. Rapid feeding, overfeeding, and swallowing of air are some of the causes of vomiting in babies. Repeated vomiting might indicate a gastrointestinal disorder. Contact your baby’s pediatrician to diagnose the cause.
When to see the doctor?
Vomiting can cause dehydration in babies. You should see a doctor immediately in the following circumstances.
Vomiting very often
Vomiting green bile
Vomiting blood
Vomiting is followed by severe lethargy or inactivity
The baby displays signs of severe distress and crankiness after vomiting
Convulsions accompany or occur after or before vomiting
Constipation
Constipation occurs when babies have hard stools or problems in passing stools. Although constipation is common in babies, it could be uncomfortable for them. Babies are not considered to be constipated if they pass soft stools.
When to see the doctor?
See the doctor immediately in the following scenarios.
The infant has not passed stools for more than three days in a row and is vomiting or irritable
Constipation in an infant younger than the age of two months
Blood in stools
The baby is holding bowel movements due to pain while passing stools
Colic
Infantile colic is a benign problem in which an infant has outbursts of inconsolable crying for more than three hours per day, more than three days per week, for longer than three weeks. Colic usually begins at about the same time every day. The symptoms of colic may get worse in the evenings. The exact cause of colic is unknown, but it is commonly associated with digestive system problems. Gastrointestinal pain due to overfeeding, gas, and constipation are some of the few reasons. Babies with colic often stop crying after passing stool or gas.
When to see the doctor?
You should see a doctor if you are unable to manage colic or if the crying becomes severe. The doctor will ask a detailed medical history of the baby and do a thorough physical examination. You should see the doctor immediately if the baby starts crying in a different pitch or tone or if the crying is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody stools, and poor appetite
Gas
Gas is produced by bacteria in the intestines and can also be swallowed while eating or drinking. Babies swallow more air when they cry, and the excess gas gets trapped in the stomach, thus causing pain. Babies who crawl and cruise (walk slowly) might be able to release the gas easily.
When to see the doctor?
Gas usually resolves on its own. But if the baby seems uncomfortable and distressed, then you may see the doctor. The doctor might suggest some measures to help the baby feel better.

Before I elaborate on this Nutrisystem review and show you my Nutrisystem before and after photos, let me tell you a little bit about me.  I am a 33-year-old woman.  I am married.  We do not have any children yet.  We do have an adorable lab mix named Samantha that we love and cherish.  We live in North Florida near Tallahassee.  My husband and I moved up here from Gainesville, FL.  The move was quite an adjustment.  Since moving nearly eight years ago we now have an hour commute to and from work each day.
Friends and people who read this testimony say that this is one of the most interesting Nutrisystem weight loss stories they have read. But let me tell you how it all started and about my Nutrisystem results.
What Led Me to Obesity
We are fairly busy with working full time and the commute.  Being busy and working so much led to eating a lot of fast food.  We almost always got something from a drive thru on the way home from work.  After getting home neither of us really felt like cooking something for dinner.  So we took the easy way out and got something that was bad for us instead of preparing a healthy meal.  I also ordered a fattening lunch most days too.  I would just take the easy way out and not worry about the effects it was having on my weight and health.
The moment I realized that I wanted to lose weight was when my friends and I were on a camping trip.  We went tubing and I could not get myself into the tube.  My friends and my husband all tried to help me get up on the tube but it was impossible because of my size and lack of upper body strength.  I felt so embarrassed and ashamed that I had let myself get to be so heavy and unable to do the things that I used to enjoy.
Being overweight for such a long period of time left me feeling defeated.  I always knew that if I would just eat less and move more I would lose weight but I never felt motivated to do it.
Starting with Nutrisystem at 260 pounds
Before Nutrisystem: 260 pounds
In December of 2011 I decided to start using Nutrisystem to lose weight.  Up until that point I had been overweight nearly all of my adult life and much of my childhood too.  I was average weight for about a year in my early twenties when I met my husband.  Once we started dating and we were happy, then the weight crept back up and reached its peak almost a year before I began my weight loss journey with Nutrisystem.  At one point I was over 300 pounds.  I did some dieting and exercise and got down to 260 pounds which was my starting weight for Nutrisystem.
Before receiving my first month of food I began to walk with my husband on the weekends.  At first it was quite a struggle to keep a good pace for an hour.  We worked at it and I got more endurance and strength.  I worked up to walking miles and miles without any trouble at all now.  I also got some workout DVDs and some hand weights to use at home.  When I signed up for Nutrisystem I committed to changing my life once and for all.
Nutrisystem Gave Me The Tools I Needed to Be Successful
Nutrisystem is the only weight loss program I have ever participated in.  I have tried counting calories and that does work for me.  I just never stuck to it long enough to see any significant results.  I have an addictive personality.  Food has been my drug for a long time.  I knew it was going to be difficult to kick the habit but Nutrisystem gave me the tools I needed to be successful.
My First Box Arrived and I Started Right Away
Some people prefer to have one final binge but I did not. I got my first order just before the Christmas holidays.  I decided to start with my new way of eating and skip overeating on Christmas and New Year’s Day too.  I actually followed the plan as close to 100% as I could for the first few months.  I didn’t allow myself to “cheat” because I know myself and if I “cheat” a little it will lead to totally giving up.   Some people are able to allow some planned indulgences but I am not one of those people.
First Month – 10 Pounds Gone – Right Away I Noticed an Increase in Energy
One thing I want to emphasize in this Nutrisystem review, is that before Nutrisystem I felt sluggish and tired most of the time.  I do have a very busy schedule and get up super early but there is no reason for me to be tired all the time.  Nutrisystem helped me to increase my fruit and vegetable intake.  I hardly ate any of them before.  Now I have four servings of veggies and at least 2 fruits each day.  I am able to make it through the day without feeling sleepy at all.  I am always able to keep up with friends and family.  I do not get out of breath or tired when we are doing physical activity now.  I haven’t been tubing yet but I am confident that I will be able to lift myself up on top of the tube without any hesitation.
A few months into my weightloss journey I started to get a lot of compliments.  Everyone was noticing the improvement and letting me know that I was looking good.  I was encouraged to keep going with the compliments.  I kept telling people to just wait and see what I looked like when I finally reached my goals.
I lost 1-2 pounds each week
How Successful is Nutrisystem? The first few weeks on Nutrisystem I lost consistently 1-2 pounds per week without reaching a plateau. Actually I continued with that trend all the way through to the end when I reached my goal.  I could lose more weight now if I chose to by following the same plan.  Nutrisystem really does make it easy for you.  They have it all planned out and show you how to be successful when trying to lose weight.
Nutrisystem suggests you work out each day for 30 minutes
I have followed those guidelines.  I do a DVD each morning before work.  The DVD is anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.  I do Pilates, Yoga, Fusion, Cardio, Strength Training, Kickboxing, and several other types of workout DVDs.  I like to vary my workout so that I do not get bored doing the same things over and over.
Each morning when I get up I chose what DVD I am going to do and get to work.  I have some stress in my life and exercise is my stress relief.
How Much Weight Can I Lose on Nutrisystem? I lost over 100 pounds – Nutrisystem Results
After Nutrisystem: 100 pounds lighter
I lost over 100 pounds using Nutrisystem and surprisingly I do not have a lot of hanging extra skin.  My Nutrisystem before and after photo proves that. I attribute that success to my exercise.  I know that the exercise has given me the shape that I have now and the muscles that keep me energetic and healthy.
Sticking to Nutrisystem was easy
I have read a number of Nutrisystem reviews where people say that Nutrisystem is hard. Honestly it was never hard for me to stick to the Nutrisystem plan. I believe that it was easy for me because of the results that I was seeing.  It’s not hard to stick to the Nutrisystem plan because you are able to choose your meals each day.  You are able to customize the plan to your personal likings and tastes.  I am pleased with the amount of flexibility that Nutrisytem provides.  I like to eat a variety of foods and with Nutrisystem I am able to do that and still lose the weight.  I am an all or nothing person so I was all in with this program and it provided me with the results that kept me motivated to stick with it until I reached my goal and even beyond into maintenance.
From Size 24 to Size 4 – Is Nutrisystem worth the money?
I started out wearing a size 24 and now I have shorts as small as a 4. Nutrisystem is worth it. Each week when I stepped on that scale and noted another loss in weight I felt proud.  Having success is very motivational.  I did hit some bumps in the road.  Sometimes life throws us curve balls.  I decided that I wouldn’t let something stop me from doing what I knew was the healthy thing for me to do.  So no matter what happened in my life or at work, I just kept on keeping on.  I like the structure that Nutrisystem provides.  I like eating on schedule.  I like knowing what I am going to eat and when I am going to eat it.   Nutrisystem is perfect for me. It does cost around $10 a day, but they run promotions throughout the year, and right now they have a 40% off discount.
It’s Hard Work. It’s not Magic
I have to admit that I was skeptical at first.  I thought it sounded too good to be true. Nutrisystem commercials seem like the program would be very simple and easy to follow.  I never understood how someone with so much weight to lose like I had could eat the same things as someone with just a few pounds to lose.  It seemed to me that we would need different programs but with Nutrisystem we can both use the same program and still be successful.  Also,I thought that it would be expensive but it’s really less than I used to spend on eating lunch before I started the program.  A typical lunch out costs at least $10 and that’s just one meal. Nutrisystem costs around $10 a day.  Cutting back on eating out and choosing Nutrisystem instead saved me money.
But the reality of it is that it’s not easy, it is hard work. As other Nutrisystem reviews attest, you have to follow the plan.  You have to exercise.  You have to drink your water.  You have to avoid alcohol.  You have to eat your fruits and veggies.  You have to put in the work and you will see the Nutrisystem results.  It’s not magic.  It’s more scientific.  Calories in versus calories burned.
I like the whole idea of Nutrisystem because with the plan you are still eating regular foods.  You are given the tools you need to succeed and transition back into eating regular foods again once you have reached your goal.
I Know How to Keep My Weight  Off Now
The first few months I had to log what I ate each day.  I also logged the amount of exercise that I did.  Now I am able to do the logging in my head.  I eat more now than I did when I was actively trying to lose weight but I still monitor my weight and if I see it going up I just go back to doing what I did to lose the weight and keep it down where it needs to be.  Weight is going to be a lifelong battle for me.  I am always going to have to exercise and watch what I eat but now I know how to do it.  I know that if I do find myself gaining weight I can lose it again.  I am going to be very attentive to my body and keep watching myself to try and never be overweight again.
Overall I Lost 108 Pounds
I fluctuate between 105 and 108 pounds lost now.  I went from weighing in at 260 pounds to weighing somewhere around 155.  I have been as low as 151 but it seems to stay right around 155.  I have been maintaining for nearly a year.  It took me right at a year to reach my goal.  I lost 1-2 pounds a week each week the whole time I was following the plan.  I am still amazed at how far I have come.
When I fold my clothes I have a hard time believing how small my clothes are now.  I wear a Medium size shirt and 6-8 in pants.  I have some small dresses and shorts.  I don’t have to shop in the plus size department anymore.  I can wear clothes for nearly any store.  I used to be limited in where I could shop, but not anymore.
My Sister Joined, Too
While I was losing weight my sister also joined Nutrisystem.  She lost over 70 pounds and really enjoyed the program as well.  She lost her weight a lot quicker than I did.  She was inspired to join because she saw me losing weight.  My sister is a little older than me and after having two children she felt as though she would never get the baby weight off.  Nutrisystem made it possible for her to get the baby weight off.
Nutrisystem provides counselors to help you with your plan.  You can call and talk to them when you hit a plateau.  You can also use the forums on the Nutrisystem website to connect with other people using the program.  With Nutrisystem you will never feel as though you are doing this on your own.  You have a whole support system.  They have been around over 40 years and they are here to stay because they really do know what they are doing.  Nutrisystem works and they provide a sure fire way to get the weight off and keep it off.
Nutrisystem is Simple
Nutrisystem is different than the other programs out there before they make it simple.  You just follow their plan and eat their food along with some additional add-ins that you purchase at the grocery store and watch the weight come flying off.  On Nutrisystem you are eating several times a day.  You don’t feel hungry. You don’t feel deprived.
Review of Nutrisystem foods – Nutrisystem Tips
Desserts
Nutrisystem allows you to eat a dessert each and every day.  The desserts are really good too.  I love the ice cream sandwiches.  They are absolutely my favorite.  I also enjoy the cookies.
Fresh or Shelf Food
While on the Nutrisystem program I received the shelf stable foods and the fresh frozen foods too.  I love the fresh frozen foods but I also enjoy the shelf stable foods.  There is not a breakfast or dessert that I did not enjoy.  I could eat any of the shelf stable and frozen desserts and breakfasts.  They are all delicious.
Favorite Breakfasts
My favorite breakfasts are the turkey and egg breakfast sandwich, the breakfast burrito, the muffins, and the peanut butter granola bar.
Favorite Lunches
I enjoyed having the burrito for lunch and the tuna salad was another favorite of mine.  When you eat the tuna salad you get to put it on sandwich thin bread.  I always eat a big green salad with some Nutrisystem approved dressing with my lunch.
Favorite Dinners
The dinners were a little trickier for me to find the ones that I liked.  I love the hamburger, the chicken, the pizzas and the spaghetti.  I sauté some veggies and add them to the dinner entrée and that makes them delicious.
A Typical Day on Nutrisystem
So a typical day on Nutrisystem would go like this.  I get up and exercise for 30 minutes to an hour.  I drink coffee and water after my workout to get my body moving.  Then after a shower I get ready for work and when I get to work I have breakfast.  Breakfast is a protein shake and a breakfast entrée.  Most mornings I would have a muffin with a protein shake.  Super yummy and it doesn’t feel like a diet at all.
Then mid-morning I would have what they call a power fuel and a smart carb, which is some greek yogurt or cottage cheese with fresh fruit.   Next I would have my lunch in a few hours. For lunch I would have a big salad with lots of veggies and a low-fat low-calorie dressing.  My favorite dressings are Greek yogurt based and considered a limited extra on the Nutrisystem plan because they are 35 calories per serving.  You can have up to 3 limited extras throughout the day.
A few more hours after lunch, I would have another power fuel and smart carb.  Typically that would be an apple with peanut butter.
Finally I would have my dinner with some more veggies and a dessert right before bed.
See how much food you get to eat on the Nutrisystem plan?  You won’t be hungry and you will feel as though you are constantly eating which is a good thing.  It’s good to not feel weak or deprived.  I always saved my dessert as long as possible because looking forward to the dessert helped me stay away from temptations throughout the day.  I work at a fairly large office and there are lots of birthdays and other celebrations.  Each celebration is a temptation that I am able to either resist or give into.  I choose to resist those temptations because I do not like how I feel when I give into them.
Eating Chocolate
Fudge Graham Bar
Nutrisystem gives me chocolate so I can resist other chocolate temptations.  When I am craving chocolate I will have the Fudge Graham Bar for lunch along with a huge salad.  The bar satisfies my cravings and it’s the perfect portion to keep me losing weight and feeling great.  There is always a food selection that will meet your cravings and satisfy your hunger.
Less Money
With Nutrisystem I just grab my food for the day on the way out the door.  I have it with me so I don’t have to spend any money in the vending machines.  I don’t have to order lunch.  I don’t have to go through the drive thru.  I have everything I need to stay full and satisfy my hunger throughout the day.  The truth is that Nutrisystem is actually less money then I spent on food before I began the program.
Happier, Healthier, with More Energy
I am so happy that I decided to take the plunge and order Nutrisystem. It has truly changed my life and I am so grateful that I have found a way to live that I feel happier, healthier and have so much more energy.
I am so happy that I have lost this weight.  My initial goal was to get to 180 pounds.  I believed that I couldn’t get any smaller than that.  I know 180 pounds is a high number but I am a large frame person and I am 5’9” tall.  I can’t remember a time when I weighed much less than 180.  Once I reached 180 easily I just kept going for another 10 pounds.  I love the way I look and I love the way I feel even more.  Words cannot describe the amount of energy and confidence I have.  I have always been fairly confident but now I feel as if nobody can stop me.  I feel as though I can do anything I put my mind to.  Being overweight had me living a life with lots of limits.  Now I am totally able to do anything I want to do.
I am able to keep the weight off by monitoring my caloric intake as well as continuing to do my daily workouts.  I have become slightly addicted to working out so I wake up and work out each morning.  On the weekends my husband and I walk a lot.  We enjoy the time together and the activity is good for our spirits.  It really is true that being active is good for you mentally as well as physically.  I get on the scale on a regular basis and if I see an increase in weight then I cut back on what I eat to keep the weight off.  Exercise is very important but weight loss is directly related to how much I eat.  If I eat too much I will gain weight.  If I keep my intake monitored I will maintain the weight I am at now.
The sooner you get started the sooner you can be at your goal.  Nutrisystem truly works.  I do not work for them but I do like to help others who are obese like I was become a healthy weight like I did.
The message I want to give you in this Nutrisystem review is: If I did it, you can do it too.  It’s not going to be easy but it is worth it and it is doable.  You can take control of your body and your life.  You do not have to live in a fat body forever.

2019 Top Games of the Week: Week 3
Tumblr media
Not much is changing at the very top of the sport, but usually that takes more than a few weeks to figure out, but everything else, man, we’ve got a season on our hands. I mean, my god, Virginia and Maryland are ranked. Week 2 was packed with big games and near-miss upsets. I hope the trend continues as the weeks go on.
The Top Ten Games of the Week
10. TCU 1-0 (0-0) at Purdue 1-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
I’m a fan of this nonconference matchup, mostly because I can’t place either of these teams just yet. TCU has only played one game against an FCS opponent which doesn’t tell us a thing. Purdue has lost to Nevada but beat Vanderbilt pretty handily, so I really can’t say I’ve made up my mind about the Boilermakers except maybe Vanderbilt is worse than I thought.
9. Kansas State 2-0 (0-0) at Mississippi State 2-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
Neither team has played much competition so far, so this game could end up telling us a lot about each squad. Both are hoping to crash their respective conference races and could use some momentum going into league play.
8. #24 USC 2-0 (1-0) at BYU 1-1 (Saturday 9/14)
Well I’m very curious what’s gonna go on here. USC seems to have found themselves a gunslinger in true freshman Kedon Slovis at QB. Meanwhile, BYU has become the latest non-P5 team to go to Knoxville and come away with a win. The Trojans have to be the favorites here but Brigham Young, despite its best efforts, almost never gets a shot at a team like Southern California in Provo. This is a huge statement game for the Cougars and they should give SC their best shot.
7. #9 Florida 2-0 (0-0) at Kentucky 2-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
Do you believe in miracles? How about twice in a row? Last year Kentucky beat Florida in Gainesville for the first time since the 70′s. Now the Wildcats are tasked with taking down the Gators in Lexington for the first time since 1986 and with winning two in a row since 1976-77. It’s a tall order, but the seal has been broken. UK has the ability to beat Florida again, let’s see if they can take advantage.
6. #2 Alabama 2-0 (0-0) at South Carolina 1-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
I don’t think I’d have put this game on the top ten if it was played later in the season, but here we are. Alabama will probably crush South Carolina, but the Gamecocks just outdid their all-time scoring record on UT Martin, so maybe they can make something happen on offense. And besides, they aren’t playing Clemson yet, it’s not like this is the hardest game on the South Carolina’s schedule.
5. #1 Clemson 2-0 (0-0) at Syracuse 1-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
This one felt a lot more interesting before last week before Syracuse got blown up by Maryland. Clemson should probably knock over the Orange with little effort, but that’s what we all thought the last time the Tigers went to the Carrier Dome, and we all remember what happened then.
4. North Carolina 2-0 (0-0) at Wake Forest 2-0 (0-0) (Friday 9/13)
How can you not be fascinated by this game? North Carolina has turned from out and out loser to serious ACC Coastal contender in two weeks. Mack Brown has somehow resuscitated the Tar Heels in just two short weeks. Meanwhile, Wake Forest keeps plowing along, punching well above their weight in the past few years and looking to further improve up the Atlantic hierarchy despite massive institutional disadvantages. These long time, in-state rivals wanted to play each other so badly that they scheduled a non-conference series against each other to take the field this Friday night. That’s right, this isn’t even an ACC game and doesn’t count in the league standings. My god, this is just wild that we’re seeing this.
3. Arizona State 2-0 (0-0) at #18 Michigan State 2-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
This part of the season is so fun because narratives about each team are just starting to crop up. Not for Arizona State though. The Sun Devils are the only team in the PAC-12 South to have absolutely no buzz around them positive or negative. So we’ll learn a lot from them this week. Michigan State, meanwhile, needs a good challenge to see if the Spartans are the real deal or not. Against Tulsa they looked moribund, against WMU Sparty looked kind of scary on offense. Imagine if MSU had an offense, just the thought sends a chill down my spine.
2. #20 Washington State 2-0 (0-0) vs Houston 1-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
Boy, the PAC-12 could actually sink lower if they lose this one. They really shouldn’t if they want any part in the national conversation. This one is being played at NRG, allegedly a neutral site, but I don’t think anybody is buying that one. Oh yeah, it’s the Cougar Bowl. That’s kind cool.
1. #19 Iowa 2-0 (1-0) at Iowa State 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
As the prophesy foretold, one day, the Iowa-Iowa State would grab the nation’s attention. God I’m so mad that the AP took the Cyclones out of the top 25, even if it was warranted by almost losing to Northern Iowa. This could have been a top 25 matchup! That would’ve been so cool given that this game is usually either ignored or laughed at. Oh well, you’re missing out if you don’t watch this one. Iowa is one of the two serious players in the Big Ten West race and ISU has been among the three best teams in the Big 12 the past two years.
-
Top 5 G5 Games of the Week
5. Miami OH 1-1 (0-0) at Cincinnati 1-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
I’m a sucker for longstanding rivalry games, which explains why this matchup is in the top 5 and not something like Air Force at Colorado. I remain unrepentant. The Victory Bell is one of the G5′s best (and only) non-conference trophy games and it’s fantastic that these two still play every year. Also Cincinnati could use a tune-up after getting thrashed by Ohio State.
4. Southern Miss 1-1 (0-0) at Troy 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
I really like this regional non-conference matchup. Southern Miss and Troy are both hoping to win their respective conferences and a victory here would help out a great deal despite not counting in the official standings.
3. Hawaii 2-0 (0-0) at #23 Washington 1-1 (0-1) (Saturday 9/14)
I think Washington is going to use this game to remind people why they’ve won the PAC-12 twice in the last two years, but Hawaii has won two games already against PAC-12 opponents. We can dream.
2. Stanford 1-1 (0-1) at #17 UCF 2-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
UCF might have another big season here. The Knights are getting to play two P5 teams in a row and should be the favorites both times. Stanford started strong but ended up getting hammered by USC last week. KJ Costello should be back as QB but the Cardinal’s issues on offense and defense probably won’t get covered up fully against an experienced team like Central Florida.
1. #21 Maryland 2-0 (0-0) at Temple 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
Temple’s relatively innocuous game against Maryland has suddenly gained some importance now that the Terrapins have shown themselves to be severely underrated. The Owls have the chance to knock off a high flying opponent with a lot of momentum going their way.
-
FCS Games of the Week
I didn’t include the FCS vs P5 games this week, mostly because the FCS teams are all severely overmatched by P5 opponents. I mean, I think it’d be cool if they won, but it’s not very likely.
5. #13 Illinois State 1-1 (0-0) at Eastern Illinois 0-2 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
The Mid-America classic is one of the FCS’s most played rivalries outside of the Ivy League. Illinois State is probably Playoff bound, but the Redbirds have to win on the road against the rebuilding Panthers.
4. #6 Weber State 1-1 (0-0) at Nevada 1-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
Let’s get the transitive wins going. Nevada beat Purdue already. We could do some real damage here. Idaho State > Ohio State?
3. #4 Eastern Washington 1-1 (0-0) at #17 Jacksonville State 1-1 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
Two perennial FCS powerhouses square off in this Playoff preview. Jacksonville State might need this one a bit worse, though. The Gamecocks’ loss to SELA in Week 1 really took the wind out of their sails.
2. #1 North Dakota State 2-0 (0-0) at #18 Delaware 2-0 (1-0) (Saturday 9/14)
Two perennial FCS powerhouses square off in this Playoff preview. This time without a qualifier.
1. #8 Towson 2-0 (0-0) at #6 Maine 1-0 (0-0) (Saturday 9/14)
The CAA has gifted us with a great Top Ten matchup early on in the season. The only one in D-I football this week. Might as well watch it right?
