today I used a dinner knife as a soil knife and a plastic milk jug as a watering can and planted a blanket flower in a little patch of dirt next to my building. may we all pray it gets enough sunlight there to thrive. I think the soil there is not great which, if you are a blanket flower, can actually be a good thing.
also I ate the rest of the creeping bellflower tubers. they were pretty tasty with some salt, as many things are.

Osmia montana on common blanketflower (Gaillardia aristata). These giant mandible-d mason bees are specialists on sunflower family plants (Asteraceae), foraging on arrowleaf balsamroot (Balsamorhiza sagittata) in the spring and moving on to blanketflower at the cusp of summer. Pollen collection is done through quickly thumping the abdominal scopa on florets.

Gallimimus and Gaillardia Aristata, Indian blanket.
I've always loved the gallimimus since I was tiny. I also live in an area where I occasionally see Gaillardia pop up on the walking paths, they always are such bright spots.

This is a fascaited Gaillardia Aristata or the Common Blanket Flower.  Me and my boyfriend stumbled across it while taking some pictures by a lake, and we are so damn lucky.  Fasciation is a mutation that occurs in every plant, and isn’t very common to see.  One of the flowers has a huge mutation going on and then there is another behind the first that has a little bit going on as well.  As for the rest they are normal!  We will be checking on it every now and again to see its growth so expect updates
