TTYD Remake — Chapter 3, 4, & 5 Ramblings

I suddenly realized I forgot to post all my rambling here! And then I beat the game haha. But I will post my notes like I did not just Watch the Credits Sequence today . So do not fear! This is only for Chapters 3 4 & 5

I like when they show all the partners out together! Like at the Thousand year door or the blimp cutscene with them all riding together … That one made me unreasonably happy when starting chapter 3 haha.

I was . Literally kicking my feet giggling hysterically when I saw that the photo standee now actually does a little photo op??? I was sooooo happy oh my god . Noone asked for them to make the standee actually interactable to this extent but they did cause they could ! As a kid I would always pretend I was getting photos in it so this literally shot an arrow directly at my Child Self . This game is for meeeeee.

The fact your title screen has your Yoshi color on it! Suuuuuuper neat, I was quite surprised by it -- I just love the title screen in general . How everyone shows up as they join the cast! So fun. Another one of those details just added because they could ! I named my Yoshi Hot Dog by the way . And it was pink! I always wanted the pink one as a kid haha -- but I never got it.

I spent so much time talking to every NPC in chapter 3 it was embarrassing . And I don't think I even saw every piece of NPC dialogue despite my best efforts . Chapter 3 was such fun for me to go through I looooooove Glitzville . One of my favorite chapters for sure

I can appreciate how much foreshadowing there is for everything in this chapter now that I'm older… Bandy Andy and the Seven Wonders are an obvious example -- he directly foreshadows both Grubba's motive and his own demise. NPCs won't stop talking about Prince Mush, especially the juice shop lady -- who is obviously Jolene in disguise… My favorite might be this extremely obscure piece of dialogue if you talk to the freelance cameraman on the second floor, he tells you that Rawk Hawk used to be such a polite guy; he even sent Prince Mush a cake before their match! … Yep. Super Polite Guy! Bet that cake wasn't poisoned.

The way Bandy Andy's disappearance is like. All but unsaid is so cool to me. He just vanishes from the hallway and is silently replaced like nothing happened. But if you talked to him, you'd know exactly what he investigated that caused his disappearance. Loveee chapter 3.

Shellshock eating the cakes will never not be funny to me 🍰 that and him calling Mario "baby" is just inherently amusing to me. Mario is NOT your babygirl.... (End of Chapter 3 Notes)

THEY DID IT THEY CHANGED THE TRANSLATION !!!!! 🏳️‍⚧️ we looooooove you Vivian . I will give her The World . They also changed the translation for Jerry though too! Originally, he said he had to stop Luigi from wearing a dress ever again, but now he says he can't let Luigi fumble around in heels again because he might just kill someone . Jerry Character Development we love to see it .

I love the fact all the NPCs have different little voices it just adds so much … And I still can't get over all their cute little animations.

VIVIAN'S THEME IS SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! I will be listening to this Again . The spooky battle theme rules too . Such great Spooky Atmosphere they set with this chapters music and visuals .

Doopliss rocking in his little rocking chair was an absolute highlight for me . Look at him . I love his room so much . All he does is sit around, watch TV and curse the townspeople all day. He's bored!

the partner hints can be very silly . I really like how because Goombella DITCHED Mario for his poser in Chapter 4 that Vivian becomes the main partner hint girl for a time ! Love extra Vivian content .

I had the W Emblem badge when I got to chapter 4, but I was thinking that it wouldn't affect how Doopliss looked, let alone random NPC dialogue. But color me shocked when Doopliss stole the Wario Color Palette and the townspeople said he wore purple and yellow! This attention to detail is so cool.

The reveal at the end of the chapter ! How the paper ripped away to reveal his true form ! How Mario's shadow state was peeled off like a sticker! Finally a good use of stickers in Paper Mario . (Laughtrack)

My mother wasn't pleased that we had to beat Doopliss up because "look at him he's so cute he didn't do anything wrong." But she did say he should give up Mario's identity because his true form looks much better which is true. (End of Chapter 4 Notes)

Arfur saying he wants to talk to Swindell but he can't find him anywhere … You walk over two feet and see Swindell across the bridge. That got to me LMAO. That and Swindell calling some guy hopping into people's chimneys dashing. Happy Pride!

Mario tipping his hat to pay his respects to Scarlette …

FLAVIOS SINGING VOICE IS SO FUNNY. imagine being on a ship forced to listen to that for days on end.

The sequence of them all going overboard was Awesome love seeing everyone drown . But actually just so many of these cutscenes look so good in this remake !!! It's almost hard to appreciate them all because they set such a standard for them all!

Keyhaul Key looks so good actually. I mean I love all the new graphics in general it just really was hammered in here. Like wow. This game looks awesome. I love the battle theme here too.

Flavio and Pa-patch fighting over who's the Bravest Coolest Guy only for them to both quiver behind Mario is both entirely expected and very amusing. I Enjoy whatever is wrong with them.

(not) LORD CRUMP DOING THE FUCKING 👉👈 POSE??? hilarious. Also him Evilly Apologizing all the time. AND WHEN HE PICKED UP MARIO OVER HIS HEAD. why didn't he just drop him over the bridge and get it over with .

Koops saying "here I was feeling depressed … Mario, whack this guy" after they realized Bobbery wasn't dead . LMAO.

"Um. No. Not fair. I hate you all." Has got to be one of my top ten favorite lines from this game now.

The amount of joy Flavio riding on Yoshi with Mario brings is insane it's so funny to me. Two grown men piggybacking on a child . The only downside to the new pipe system is that you can no longer do the Flavio glitch and keep him forever.

Bobbery's partner hints are so full of personality… Also you can interact with the winch with every character and you bet I did that just to see what everyone said. I like how Koops didn't even know what the sluice gate was called, it feels very in line with him growing up in a peaceful village doing Nothing. Me too buddy.

I Can't Believe It Was Lord Crump This Whole Time! … Is what I would say if he hadn't told us earlier. I mean his disguise was flawless. Can you imagine Lord Crump doing this 👉👈? (Joking Statement)

CORTEZ SHAKING WITH RAGE WAS SOOOO FUNNY . He is SEETHING. also him eating the Skull Gem . Yum yum! I love this whole sequence with him and Flavio so much. His cabin is soooo pretty in the remake. They really went all out with the coins and gems here. I had to take so many screenshots !

THE SHIP FIGHTING SEQUENCE is great . I watched it twice just because I could .

I can't get over this dialogue from Pa-Patch after chapter 5 . The only explanations I can think of is 1: this is somehow offensive in Bom-Omb Culture or 2: he realized this sounded like he was flirting with a widower who just barely stopped blaming himself for his late wife's death. Bad look.

Idk I could think of a better metaphor #Basically they're hilariously incompetent and it's Great #Also KAMMY GOING TO GLITZVILE WITHOUT BOWSER was one of my favorite interlude moments as a kid . So funny . She had the time of her life

the last of us 1x06: kin

surprisingly don't think i have a ton to say about this ep of the last of us but i feel like i should continue posting for posterity at this point lol. (eta: i said that, then started writing my thoughts, and wrote a gazillion words anyway.)

side note: any canadians watching on crave? isn't it fucking terrible. trash service

anyway: 1x06!

continuing to enjoy joel and ellie a lot. the further we get into the show i think the more they've come into the roles and evolved into their own versions of the characters, which is fine. good even. i think bella ramsey and pedro pascal have very fun chemistry together, and i think bella carries the comedy beats really well, which means i've been enjoying seeing more and more of those. i also really like those scenes because they feel familiar without being complete retreads of the game dialogue (which inherently invites me to make comparisons on delivery, etc)

so this joel is much more openly vulnerable. i think this change works to go with what we've seen in the show so far and places where the show is presumably going. and, i'll be honest, i find show joel a much more likable character. 🤷🏼‍♀️

the "not my daughter" scene hit differently... tbh i think it hit less, but not really through any fault of the show's, if that makes sense. it's just one where beat by beat i know the words as delivered by troy and ashley and my brain is super imposing them

loved the opening with the Indigenous couple, they were so funny, and the idea of florence seeing joel puffed up like an angry bird and identifying zero threat and making him soup lmfaoooooo hkghlkg. honestly w game joel i don't think that would work, lol, but w show joel it did. such a funny way to use the map easter egg, and the "there are firefly people?" followed by the couple laughing at their own joke killed me lol

also loved ellie's indignation about how they probably don't know anything because they're "a thousand" and they don't even know the fireflies, who are probably a total nonentity outside select QZs. extreme kid energy. they haven't even HEARD of paw patrol can you believe it. what do they know. also, congrats to them escaping joel and ellie mostly unscathed... minus a rabbit. (rude, ellie.)

show maria was great idc. imo game maria is not much of a character, so the show had plenty of room to expand, and i liked how they did it. i see some people reacting badly to her skepticism of joel and forgiveness of tommy, but we also don't really know what exactly she's been told by tommy. maria being pregnant is also a more solid reason for why tommy can't take ellie than we got in the game.

i can't really evaluate tommy or maria as characters without factoring in part 2 and at this point there's enough difference that who knows where the show will go with tommy and maria in s2, so, it's all kinda fair game imo

the university scene felt a bit rushed but i guess there really isn't that much to do there when you're not rearranging dumpsters and killing infected. it was the first time the show felt notably rushed to me, and i suspect that feeling will get worse in the back third of the show. ah well.

joel's injury and the fight felt anticlimatic compared to the big action set piece of the game, BUT i think it worked much better in context (joel's explicit fears in this ep becoming manifest), and also, game joel's injury is sooooooooooo ludicrous and video game it just wouldn't work on tv lmao. i kind of wish we'd seen ellie land any of her shots on those guys, but i have my theories as to why we didn't. tbd

misc other thoughts:

diva cup scene... excellent. was worried about those musty tampons.

SALLY FUCKIN' RIDE lmaoooooo ellie. u lesbian. ilu

like everyone i was beyonce.gif DINA?!?!?!? in the cafeteria scene. 100% that was dina, there's no way it wasn't. it might not be the final cast actress (i can see them not wanting to cast a major role so far in advance for a cameo, and they have a time skip to justify any appearance changes), but as a character that was surely meant to be dina. ellie that's ur WOMAN

we're 10000% getting some other cameos in the finale. i'm ready 👀👀👀👀👀

lastly: can't wait for this weekend's episode. the one i've most anticipated. left behind DLC my beloved...

Okay, I watched the live-action One Piece.

I actually don't hate it.

(Mostly.)

the things they did wrong

The fishmen. The makeup is really, really horrible. They went for "realistic"-looking skin and it just does. not. work. And the prosthetics are just bad. Really, really bad. Arlong isn't big enough. He keeps threatening to bite people but his mouth is so small relative to the rest of his face (especially because of said prosthetics) so you can't really take it seriously. It's just bad, y'all.

The den den mushi. Sooooooooooo creepy. The texture is awful and they need better puppetry.

The emotional moments don't quite hit it like the original story does. Each of my absolute favourite moments from the original have been changed juuuuuuuust enough to not give quite the same punch.

Luffy doesn't feel like Luffy. There's a very specific sort of whimsy that Luffy exudes and this guy just doesn't have it. To be fair! it is a very difficult thing to pull off! But it's also, like ... really integral to the whole story. He's got the wrong kind of smile and we never hear him giggle. He should be 100% guileless and he's just not quite there. Nami doesn't feel like Nami. She's not expressive enough, or bossy enough. She keeps trying to be the holding-everything-in-stoically type and that's just not Nami. She holds back as far as information goes, especially in the beginning, but her feelings are pretty much on her sleeve otherwise. Zoro's personality is off just a bit. He's just a bit too grumpy. We see him smile like twice. We never see him get really excited, and the one time he gets moderately excited he's still pretty stone-faced about it. Also, not letting him get genuinely happy about booze makes him come off less as really enjoying one vice and more just being a sad alcoholic. And he doesn't fully commit to the crew soon enough. He's the type to be all or nothing, so he needs to be all in from the get-go. Sanji can't do a French accent, which is kind of hilarious because he just sort of goes for An Accent and so he'll start a sentence with something that's, like, vaguely British? but then if the sentence is long enough he'll find Vaguely French halfway through.

Everyone is too old. Kaya is supposed to be 18 but that actress is in her 30s for sure. Even the kids are kids that are too old for the parts they need to play.

Except for Mihawk, who's a bit too young. Also his fake beard doesn't look great.

Some of the effects for things like Luffy stretching and Buggy coming apart. Again, tbf, this was always something that would be a problem in a live-action recreation, so it's only a minor annoyance. But there's definitely a couple of little things they could have changed that would have made a big difference in believability.

A lot of the crowd shots have a case of Main Character Syndrome. This actually helps the audience pick out important people at Gold Roger's execution, but it's kind of funny when you see Zoro among his classmates at the dojo or Nami and Nojiko with the rest of Coco Village and are like "HMMM I WONDER WHO THE MAIN CHARACTER COULD BE."

Trying a bit too hard to interconnect everything. They keep both Buggy and Arlong relevant for too long (Buggy by keeping him after his arc, Arlong by having him show up early). Garp being around for the whole show is sort of interesting and funny but it makes me wonder if they're even planning on getting to Water 7, and how they're gonna do that if they do.

the things they did right

Verbally acknowledging Zoro as the first mate. The original never dies that even though he totally is.

The wanted posters. They did a great job of recreating the posters, and the little effects they do overlaying them when they introduce new characters is fun.

Pretty much everyone's physicality. Especially Zoro and Sanji. They're very accurate to the original. Just the way Zoro stands and walks is 100% Zoro. Captain Kuro managed to be cool and creepy instead of looking stupid. Usopp's face is surprisingly spot-on.

On a related note, the fight scenes were well-choreographed. And there were a few cool shots where the camera followed someone who was jumping around.

Anything that can be a practical effect is a practical effect. It doesn't always pay off *cough* fishmen and den den mushi *cough* but it usually does, and I very much appreciate the effort.

Each arc is one episode long. 'Nuff said. Y'all know how long these damn arcs can stretch.

The Vibes. They did a really, really good job of making it ridiculous without making it ridiculous, if you know what I mean. A lot of that is thanks to the abundance of practical effects. A lot more is the lighting. They also had fun with camera angles and focus/blur to just keep things feeling not-quite-real in a way that helps rather than hinders the suspension of disbelief. They also made the show overall darker than the original, which I usually hate but in this case it really works: You can't take things like the Chop Chop Fruit or Zoro's penchant for cutting people up out of a cartoon and into a live-action without it automatically getting creepier, so leaning in to that was absolutely the right choice. It also kind of made Buggy's arc feel more real and high-stakes.

All the little details. There were a lot of them. All the characters are at least vaguely the correct nationality from Oda's Q&A tidbits. When Zoro is laid up, Nami reads him Liar Norland. You can see Mihawk's ship in the bay outside of Roger's execution. At one point you can hear "Binks' Sake" playing in the background. Just about every single costume was accurate to the original, and the sets were incredibly detailed. There are so many little details in every single bit of it that tell you that the people who made this were paying attention, and frankly that alone makes me far more inclined to forgive any mistakes I feel they've made.

oh gee :) well they definitely added some fun nuance lol

with upbringing, i was never aware that guys could love guys or girls could love girls or both or more or even that gender wasn’t as fixed as i assumed. when i was kid, a lot of my understanding of the world came from the shows/movies i watched (Disney being a big part of that) and my own parents. 1. both of my parents are cis and quite comfortable in their sexuality (as far as i’m aware) but they also unknowingly enforced these strict gender norms to me and my siblings (can’t wear shorts too much or i’m a tomboy, must like Barbies because i’m a girl, decorate my room in flowers and pastels because i’m a girl, comment on my desire to always wear jeans and not dresses, comment on my face looking boyish when I put it up)

not to mention the whole thing with pink 🙄 wasn’t just my parents for that one. i remember, distinctly in kindergarten, some boy was teased and pushed around by the other boys for wearing a pink polo. nobody used the word gay (i don’t think any of us had heard of it yet), but all the boys called him “girlish” and a “sissy” for his shirt.

then, in 5th grade, some boy called another boy “gay” as a joke. i didn’t get it. it was a new word but spoken with a negative connotation and nobody would explain what it meant. you just had to know. (i was extremely miffed about this and was too prideful as a 10 year old to ask for more clarification)

but this is also the time i discovered yaoi 🙈 on YouTube, while looking for fun Kingdom Hearts fan comics. it was definitely a jumpscare lol bc it was probably the most explicit fanart i ever witnessed and that was the only explanation i had to yaoi (pissed off a friend in middle school bc she thought i was being homophobic when really my post-disgusted horror at yaoi was the remembrance of THAT old art and not the fact that they were gay)

anyway, upbringing was sheltered child who was also a bookworm and was not aware that these things existed (not to mention terms for them) until she was granted access to YouTube and accidentally fell down a nsfw rabbit hole bc there was not a lot of warnings or proper tagging (?) in the early days of YouTube sooooooooooo 🎉

and for my neurodivergency, i have no clue because i wasn’t aware that my issues of “not focusing” and “lack of motivation” and “spontaneous spark to do things!” meant something until recently (also it’s funny how a lot of the critiques i’ll be given about my issues really nail that for me lol)

So while im a bit of a mutishipper when it comes it shipping ocs with someone this is…well i think one of them- (which is funny considering how im making it where thesia and Monkai are dating in my fangan but i wanna ask thesia if that’s alright with her-)

SO during animation class me and a couple of friends were rewatching Dragon ball super super hero movie manly cause we want to discuss how our ocs would interact with them you know-

So one of them I actually thought of one and that was Monkai interaction with Gamma 1 and her sister kaori (i changed her name- and her age so she’s monkai’s age-)) interaction with Gamma 2 and those look

Anywho-

Monkai has an interesting type while she’s more into liking people who can handle her energy and those who are loyal although that means she can ease up a bit around meaning she doesn’t lie as much considering her ultimate. And i thought her and gamma 1 might make a interesting duo considering their personality and what does one of my friends say?

“Soo basically there relationship is basically like a grumpy x sunshine ship or more like the polar opposites ones?” …..

I hardly told u flip about monkai and you guys are alreadly pulling the ship card on them? Weird (i mean Monkai is bi so-)

AUGHHHH WDYM SHE JUST EXPLAINED THE WHOLE SHOW HOLEYYYY aughfhdgfhfhh well not the whole show but ! most of the segments im losing im- HELLO ???? also damn it cecil but also hes felt really off recently idk if its just me but it really feels like they’ve been hammering in his memory thingy stuff and reality stuff. i just idk smth feels wrong w/ how he holds himself but maybe its just the stress of his new position and stuff well not super new I. ok, ok, so first things first, because you are so opposite of the intp, i know we can butt heads sometimes. the main reason this happens is because nt's will see you're want to make others happy as a negative. HOWEVER, as i have gotten to know and respect an esfj as they are a part of my family (irl). i can say that the perceived notion of esfj's wanting to please everyone to get them to like them is a bit misguided. while esfjs DO want everyone to be happy, it's not always about being the popular kid. it's actually because they care about others. AND not just others but like situations. they really care if a party or a dinner is going smoothly. because they want events and people to have an enjoyable time and be happy. so esfj's I SEE YOU. and i genuinely appreciate how much you care about even the smmmmallest things. you are very dependable and high key you've taught me a lot. like how/why it's important to always say please and thank you. and you showed me that having emotions (like being nervous) isn't a weakness and it actually shows us what's important. esfj's are HIGHLY underrated, and much more wise than anyone gives you credit for.

BTW Ive already made like 5 posts like this im sure but i want to talk about how at the end of Z (where this screenshot is from like at the VERY end it is a very cool shot) Trunks is so chill and self-assured and confident and fully embodying himself and he is still very much Player 1 and Goten’s senior. Even tho it’s only by a year , it never felt inconsequential. Goten still called him “-kun” which of course he did he was raised by ms Chichi and uses respectful language. But i just think that he could have gotten away with no suffix at all if he wanted to. But it was the polite and affectionate thing to do. Plus i’ve no clue the nuance of that shit anyway Listen

OK So ive made posts like this before but i want to say that I am sooooooooooo sorry for portraying Trunks as being soooooo comically BOTHERED by Goten’s antics. And by therefore (inadvertently or not) portraying him as Stressed Out and Less Than Chill and Bossy and Specific and Insecure and Anxious and Prone To Snapping. Ive walked the line between That and a more canon portrayal before but really all that secondary bullshit should just be dropped at this point like ive done enough :/ Like

OK ive already said all this before but Im thinking about this again. Ok well basically TRUNKS IS PLAYER 1. Always has been and always will be. Goten is Player 2 and he has to use the player 2 controller hooked into the player 2 slot and he cant use the default colors bc he’s player 2 so he has to be Blue or Red or something thats Not the default and it’s not his game and it’s not his Gamecube and it’s not his house and it’s not his room and it’s not his TV. And it’s that fucking simple

THEY ARE A DUO..!!!!! BUT Trunks is player 1 and Goten is player 2. Theyre not so much equal as much as there is a yin-yang to it.

OK. So Im sorry for portraying Trunks as even having a reaction to Goten’s antics bc the truth is that he really would not let anything that Goten does get to him at all whatsoever bc 1.) He’s seen it all before 2.) He’s unbothered by it 3.) He’s better than that. And he is not going to be one-upped by Son Goten.

HE IS THE CHILD OF BULMA AND VEGETA ....!! HE IS NOT GOING TO BE ONE-UPPED BY ANYONE FRANKLY...!

NOT TO MENTION. HIS EASY SPIRIT. Even Future Trunks who came from a hellish reality had a very distinct Easiness to his spirit. He is fully embodying himself, is comfortable in himself. He does not waste time on dreaming and is instead interested in doing. He is capable of relaxing and capable of enjoying his time alive. And in no environment will he ever feel like there’s no room for him.

Ok... We see that so clearly in our Present Trunks at the end of Z somehow. Hes so chill and cool and comfortable. And we see it again in GT in how he didnt want to do all that paperwork so he just flew out the fuckign window.

HE;’S JUST LOOKING FOR A GOOD TIME. THAT’S IT. It’s that simple.

OK Well I do remmebr how when i very first started talking about Goten & Trunks it was definitely before I even saw the end of Z . I didnt honestly know what to make of them yet but what I did know was that it was feasible that Trunks could grow into a bossy kind of guy. And the natural next step, obviously, was to have his counterpart be someone who could get under his skin. Because if Goten couldn’t bite back then why would they hang out .. they have to be equally matched in SOME capacity . And i figured that if I kept watching and kept thinking about it and then rewatched some then I would understand their characters better.

Well I did keep watching it and I did keep thinking about it but my first impressions became Classic to me rather than a First Draft That Should Be Ditched. Partly becasue there was some FUNNY SHIT in my head at the beginning and i didnt want that to become obsolete lol. A lot of it did age past relevancy but a lot of it didnt and i ended up using it later (like that comic where Trunks was wearing Goten’s entire outfit and was like “well one of us is going to have to change.”) Anyway

So anyway I dont know where Im going with this necessarily. Just that I really liked the idea that Trunks would grow into a bitchy teenager and have some difficult times and his player 1 complex would become exemplified as he became more self-aware and insecure about his power and place, and so he would boss Goten around like always, albeit more ardently because it’s a bit more needed now, and Goten would either tolerate it or tip his hand and say/do something that completely strikes the perfect nerve. Sometimes it was an accident but Goten himself would grow into somebody who is very emotionally intelligent and mature so he doesnt accidentally piss him off for forever. Sometimes he’d do it in self-defense and other times he would do it because it was funny. And then i guess Trunks grows out of it and into his Easy Spirit that we see at the end of Z. And i rememebr arriving at the End of Z and being like OMG OMG OMG OMG SO COOL but also being like “ummm this is a little different from what i was saying lol ...” and idk i never did anythign abt that .. Im a creature of habit i guess . Anyway

Anyway if you want my professional opinion I’d say that Trunks never has to get pissed off at Goten becasue he can hold his own. It is funny to think that at some age Goten becomes less childish and naive and more quick-witted, and Trunks, WHO HAD ALWAYS BEEN THE PRECOCIOUS ONE, who has enjoyed a life of being comfortably many levels of awareness above Goten, now has to reconcile with Goten catching up to him, and he does not handle it well. That is an interesting story but IT’S NOT EVERYTHING ...!! AND IF THAT DID HAPPEN it likely died down pretty soon becasue AGAIN. END OF Z. TRUNKS WAS SO CHILL AND HE AND PAN STILL KICKED GOTEN’S ASS IN THE TOURNEMENT. WHICH WAS SO FUNNY BTW.

Becasue he’s STILL..! PLAYER..! ONE..!!!!!

It makes perfect sense tbh. Of course. Of course Trunks is still stronger than Goten. Goten is Goten after all. He comes from a loving rural home and even tho his mother is a hardass and his father only cares about fighting, he’s still a very chill dude. And Trunks is also chill but he does take life a bit more seriosuly. But not to the point of frequent stress. It’s just that his father is Vegeta and his mother is Bulma and he’s being fast-tracked to being the President of Capsule Corp and like ... He knows how to relax but he also experiences very high prestige. And here’s the important bit: HE CAN HANDLE IT. HE’S NOT STRESSED OUT ABOUT IT. HE’S BUILT FOR IT. HE’S BEEN TRAINING FOR THIS. HE CAN HANDLE IT.

Anyway I dont want to say that it’s less funny and that there are less things to say if Trunks is chill and theyre actually on the same wavelength usually becasue that’s quitter talk. Thats quitter talk. Of course there’s still a lot to say .. of course there are stories to tell there .. It’s less emotionally piquant but that is in fact the point, what emotions are left between them? Theres no expressions of anger but thats fine. It’s whatever. Like i’ll be fine... .........

Anyway. Here is a list of the only ways that I can imagine where Goten one-ups Trunks:

1. I guess expressing unwarranted and unabated genuine affection. But only in really specific contexts becasue that usually works at bugging someone IF there’s space left between you that has yet to be revealed/explored. And i don’t think that there’s much space left between those two. Theyve known each other since they were babies but they lack the obligation and boundaries that family would share. So I really dont know what Goten could do in that field to bug him. He does live life with a much more prominent and open heart than Trunks does so he’s capable of expressing an amount of love that is sickening but I dont think that, if he afforded Trunks that, that Trunks would be bothered by it.
