haven't exactly watched the show in over a month but hearing what's going on. It's like everyone in it wants to ignore moon's health, plus fans just acting like he should die because of this.

FOR REAL- THAT'S PRETTY MUCH WHAT'S HAPPENING. EVERYTHING IS GOING WRONG AND NOT IN A FUN WAY, NOT ANYMORE. Not to mention that ever since his hallucination of Solar, Moon has been acting so incredibly out of character it's legit frustrating me. Hell, everyone's been out of character. He would not fucking say that. She would not fucking say that. None of them would fucking say that.

Imma use this ask as an excuse to rant about things that are making me Peeved now lmao.

First off, HERE'S THE THING, some people want this version of Moon to die rn? That, I get. I understand. Because this Moon fucking sucks. This Moon is so out of character compared to the one from like a month ago. He's acting like a villain about to twirl his damn oily mustache all like "I need to kill Ruin and Bloodmoon muahaha!1!". WHICH I COULD JUSTIFY IF HE WAS DOING IT FOR THE SAKE OF HIS FAMILY/DUE TO SHITTY MENTAL HEALTH. BUT NO. HE'S DOING IT OUT OF PRIDE AND THE SELFISH WANT FOR DEATH. And that just makes NO FUCKING SENSE because not only was New Moon's whole thing that he was going to be better, literally THE ONLY THING OLD MOON WANTED HIM TO DO WAS TO KEEP THE FAMILY SAFE AND HAPPY. AND NEW MOON IS DOING THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF THAT. I'm so upset rn jdkfhdsf

And then not to mention the way the other's are treating him- Sun is off my shitlist as of today due to the crisis he's having because, for some reason, the choice to whether or not we're killing New Moon is solely in his hands??? Wack. But. Earth and Lunar. Earth and Lunar. I'm not favorable to them right now at all. Earth, according to her, is supposed to be good at reading/understanding people, if not a "therapist". She should understand that Moon said what he said out of a place of fear, anger, ect. Not from his heart. She has every right for it to have hurt her, but for her to basically disown him? Also wack. The only thing I like about her rn is how she seemingly crushed Bm like a bug lmao. And Lunar? God, Lunar was just so unnecessarily bitchy to Moon in that one ""heart to heart"" episode. That "Fuck him!" pissed me off so very much. Dude, that is your brother who is going into a mental spiral over the death of someone he loved. That is your brother. Wack as hell.

AND not to MENTION everything going on w/ Monty- I literally love them 90% of the time but them deciding to NOT LISTEN TO PUPPET when she told them to NOT RESCUE EARTH ALONE literally made me sigh in frustration/disappointment. That is the one thing, the ONE THING she told them not to do. And Monty did it anyways. And Puppet is a MULTIDIMENSIONAL BEING WITH POWERS/ABILITIES/MAGIC FAR BEYOND ANYTHING MONTY COULD UNDERSTAND, AND THE ONLY THING SHE ASKED FOR MONTY TO DO, WAS FOR MONTY TO TRUST HER. And they Didn't. They didn't trust her, and they went alone, and now they're paying the price. Sighs.

The thing that really gets me is that they really sound like children- I don't know exactly how to describe it, but they sound like kids I would've known when I was little- Hell, some of them do sound like kids I knew, some of which I was even friends with!

The one thing about Fnaf lore, that always kind of bothered me, was that the missing kids felt more like plot devices- There isn't much about them, outside of Susie, though only if you read the books- Which is fine, if they aren't meant to be the focus!

However, by making them characters, I feel like it puts so much more weight onto William's actions. It turns him into a larger threat, a monster.

Which is exactly what is happening here!

By giving them names, personalities, it feels like there is so much more weight on Bloodmoon's actions, y'know?

He robbed them of growing up. He forced their parents to bury them.

God, their parents must despise Sun! If Dazzle ever remembers, I could honestly see her dad becoming a character!

The moment, he'd see the twins, it'll be on sight!

Though, it generally makes me curious! I wonder, if Dazzle is really the only ghost kid left behind.

I wonder, if there are going to be more. There were little hints of the possibility dropped!

Some of them might not be as forgiving, which would be really interesting to see!

Sun has quietly carried so much love and care and guilt over these kids for years of his life, a grief that bubbled under the surface, and we never truly saw how much that weighed on him until now as he has to stomach that one of them has come back and they forgive him :(((

The way Sun talked about their habits and interests didn't feel strange in any way, like how sometimes people write kids and its like. have u ever interacted with a child in ur life HDKWHD it was just. they felt really truly alive.....

Like. I mentioned that harm or death of children is the quickest way to make me sniffle and wail and wail, but fnaf never really managed to make me truly sad and weepy about the kids because, like you said, they were more plot devices rather than full characters.

BUT YESYES ALSO LIKE U SAID, by fleshing out their lives and making them more solid characters, it adds so much more weight to the actions of the murderer!! Bloodmoon looked at these little humans who flocked to him because they loved Sun and he saw food, he saw easy targets, and he took advantage of that to the highest degree!!! And it's like holy shit!!!!! Whadda hell!!!!!!!! Like u said, he robbed them of growing up, he had just as little regard for their new lives as he did the rats in the theater and it's like. AUGH.

Well, I haven't seen the episode yet, but since it sounds like BloodMoon is refusing to be saved, imma go ahead and share the idea I mentioned to @twinanimatronics about how Sun could've possibly reached them.

Obviously BloodMoon wont sit still and listen so this scenario has Sun use star power to trap BM just like old moon did to him with Moon on standby to come in once the 5 minutes are up.

Basically, Sun asks them WHY they kill and hurt people and BM brings up the main three reasons: they enjoy it, they dont want to be a tool, and they hunger. Since literally none of the protags have actually asked, Sun would be surprised that theres more than the first reason and interrogate to get to the bottom of it. Cuz what Sun realizes is that BloodMoon doesnt have any deeper motives or desires because of their eternal hunger. Their ENTIRE existence has circled around violence to satisfy their hunger. They get used to satisfy their hunger. They enjoy the rip and tear because it stops the hunger.

They have always been a tool to the hunger.

So Sun offers the one thing that no one has: what if they get rid of the hunger?

BM is confused cuz all they've ever known is the hunger, and Sun has to dig the point home by explaining how they can keep killing but it'll come back, and probably stronger. They could kill everyone and everything but then the hunger will come back. And the only thing thatll be left to kill is each other.

And THAT freaks them out, because that is the only thing BloodMoon stands to lose is the brotherhood. (And while BM1 would probably race about lies and trickery, BM2 cant deny the logic)

So with BM actually realizing how their hunger endangers them, and Moon at this point just WAITING to finish them off, Sun lays down the ultimatum. Since no change of heart can happen if all they've ever known is hunger, Sun/Moon/Solar can try and remove it to and see if the twins can be rehabilitated, otherwise Moon ends them then and there.

And I love this idea so much!!! It addresses the REAL block that BM has that hasnt been brought up since that one episode where they kill the anime girl. We get to keep BloodMoon, since the creators went to the trouble of bringing them back and giving them a new model so it'd be a lil annoying if they just ended up killed again. It acknowledges how much BM has been used and brushed aside while admitting that there hasnt been much else to them. And you could have a whole rehabilitation arc, with everyone healing and BM given a real change and actual honesty, since god knows no one is gonna be mincing words. And I imagine their blood-hunger being removed ends up like the Ruin Virus a bit, where getting rid of it cuts down a LOT of the more sadistic urges. So the boys get a mostly-tamed but still-pretty-fucking-insane BloodMoon Twins that basically is just the feral crazy guy that hangs around Animal from Muppets lol and idk stays with Monty cuz hes more easygoing on the violent habits and they need to NOT be anywhere near the daycare.

And maybe I'll watch the episode and be alright with it, but it just sucks cuz this would work SO GOOD and I know the showrunners wouldn't do it. So now I've had to make this fucking long ass post and y'all hafta deal with it.

And maybe someday I'll write a drabble this and the other SAMS scenes I've imagined...

Today's beta content was heavy on the scrapped pokemon content for XY with some from BW and RS scratch pads.

However, the XY ones are astounding. I think anyone that's seen them on Twitter and keeps up with the beta content like I have will agree that these are literally the highest quality scrapped pokemon we've ever seen. Fully drawn and detailed- dunno about 3d models yet, there's still a lot left to find, but still- there's only a small handful, but they're all of incredible quality. Even concept art of Noibat is easy enough to see repurposed as a Future Paradox, I think.

Literally looking at some of them and all the other scrapped content for XY (they actually planned a rhyhorn racing mini game for example), and looking at how little we actually get for new pokedexes or what came after- we were robbed. Actually robbed.

Like yall there's a flamingo that serves cunt there. I think it's supposed to be beta Aromatise but it can be its own thing- it's what you think of when you think of an actual flamingo Pokemon. In gen 6. And look at fucking Flamigo in gen 9. Flamigo feels like a slap in the face looking at what we almost had. Like there's a downgrade and then there's THIS, man.

The others, especially the cassowary looking guy and peanut dinosaur guy, I need them so bad. Those are friends trapped in an alternative timeline.

Otherwise there's concept art for beta megas of the Kanto starters and Mewtwo. This was probably when they were getting a feel for what Mega Evolution was, during a time when they were considering it just a normal Evolution. Still, they look so ALIEN in such a cool and distinct way. Charizard Y has a gigachad chin, really pronounced bones and a tail that kinda has a furnace inside- it looked bulky, but the tail was sort of a thruster and it was almost more of a wyvern in some art. Venusaur ACTUALLY ALMOST LOOKED LIKE A FROG. Or toad. Whatever, the animal inspiration was actually clear. Blastoise is remarkably the least changed, but it's still a more bad ass take with a mustache sometimes. All 3 kind of resemble elders kf their species or mutations binded with something alien. I like the final results mind you, but god damn this is such a waste that we didn't get these somehow as Paradoxes or Bloodmoon type pokemon yknow? Like yeah Kanto pandering, but still, that's how cool they look to me.

The Mega Mewtwo concept is also really cool and I get why they're referred to as Mewthree and Mewfour in concept. One looks so fucking cool, like Mewtwo as a Xenomorph. The other is much closer go Y. Looking at this, I can certainly see how the alien plot theory could have happened and it would have made sense that Mewtwo went further because of it- yet there's no evidence of any alien plot line like that one theory posted way back. Not yet anyway. Mewtwo X is such a let down in comparison to Xenomorph Mewtwo imo.

Interestingly there does not seem to be any scrapped megas so far other than one who I won't say on the off chance it's added to ZA. Even in ORAS beta. Flygon isn't mentioned at all, which probably means it never even left the drawing table (or GF lied and it was simply never planned). God damn, art block hits like a bitch.

Regardless, this art is really incredible and I love the art style. I know Sugimori art is the series staple, but it would have been neat to try this for a bit imo.

I hope maybe more come up, but they've also started on Switch games, with Legends Arceus concept art and prototypes. For some reason Brock was their beta model, and there's concept art of Rei and Akari with slightly different hats and a slightly different Jubilife village. Otherwise there's not any Hisuian pokemon variants at this point, and it may have been planned to have the DP starters instead. Some pages seem like a pitch for it, and Legends Arceus is now a game far more important than most realize.

LA was pitched from the get go and it seems like they wanted to forgo DP remakes all together. The game was meant to be a foundation for how all future games in the franchise would grow and be a testing ground for a lot of new ideas to implement later on in the series, and to purposely draw in a different crowd than usual. I think that they accomplished that anyway, even if it's a bit unpolished graphics wise. Still, concept art for it's wilderness is incredibly detailed and gorgeous.

It'd be neat to find scrapped Pokemon for it, but I think there might not be much for it considering the type of game it is. There's a few fun mockup doodles of the Hisuian starters that make me laugh- literally ms paint type drawings of an angry bird, sassy hisuian Typhlosion, and an angry quadruped animal. Maybe they did want Hisuian starters, but concepts weren't made until they had a feel for the setting- which was originally envisioned 150 years ago instead of the proposed 200 fans made. Still, very close.

These betas keep giving, man. I don't even want ZA or Gen 10 leaks, I just wanna see more of this behind the scenes stuff. For concepts it's higher quality than most finalized artwork, and there's clearly a lot of detail that we don't ever get to see. It really puts into perspective how much effort goes into world building and Pokemon design behind the scene, and what's dumbed down for marketing.

Gonna start off with a sorry, I’m really bad with wording my thoughts, so this might come out as a jumbled mess of a post, but I just wanna talk about Sun and what I hope happens in the future for him.

I really, REALLY want him to redeem or bond or SOMETHING with Eclipse and/or Bloodmoon.

In the videos, characters are constantly telling the audience how kind Sun is, how he will go out of his way to help others even at his own expense. They keep mentioning it, but they haven’t really utilized it in the narrative.

I don’t want Sun to be a badass, I don’t want Sun to use the powers he has to just obliterate the enemy.

I want Sun to be kind. I want him to be forgiving. I want him to help someone, who is seen as an irredeemable lost cause to everyone else, change for the better.

I know that The Sun and Moon show is adamant with the whole “Not everyone can be saved or wants to be saved,” but honestly storywise this was said by Evil!Lunar who has only known pain, grief, and hate- how do you expect someone who hasn't experienced any compassion or kindness to believe they are capable of becoming good. All of the main villains are all victims of circumstances, they were built to be like this- it was hardwired into their code- but we’ve seen that Killcode changed because he had a moment with Glamrock Freddy, we see that change is possible.

We see that Eclipse was on the cusp of change, that there was a sliver of hope that maybe with a little more nurturing that seed of good could have grown.

I just want Sun to bond with them so bad. AHHH. Blast those Gremlins with the Power of Love and Friendship, you silly lil’ ball of anxiety.

(I also want him be relevant to the plot again, haha /lh)

I want that boy to have some ‘evil but making an effort’ friends.

Today was the first day back at school after a very long summer break! I'm not excited to go back to campus today but I can't wait to see Sam, we have been the best of friends since we were born.

I start my day off with my normal routine, I wake up, reluctantly got out of my warm bed and walk into my in suite bathroom. I plugged my IPhone into my Ihome port and put my music on shuffle as I hopped into the shower. After I washed my hair with my strawberries and cream shampoo and conditioner, and washed my body with my strawberry body wash (Okay so I love the scent of strawberry don't judge me!). I washed the soapy suds off my body and shut off the water. I dried myself off with my big fluffy towel.

As I walked out of the bathroom and headed to my walk in closet trying to figure out what to wear today, I peaked out of my window to see what the weather was like, it was the same as always, hot and sunny! I decided on a tealy greenish cropped tank top, some ripped skinny jeans, and some white lace toms.

After I'm dressed I walk over to my vanity and plugged in my straightener to try and tame my mess of hair. While waiting for it to heat up I did my make-up which consisted of some concealer to mask my dark circles, a bit of powder to make my face look less oily,  some mascara, a little bit of blush, of course I did my eyebrows, and put on my chap stick. I'm not a huge fan of make up mainly because I honestly don't know how to do it but I also am too insecure to not where any at all so I do what I can.

Once deciding that this was as good as it was going to get I  ran my straightener through my hair till it was less of a mess and more of a wavy look. I walked to my bathroom to brush my teeth, and put on perfume and deodorant so I wouldn't smell ,  I pinned my hair back so I was out of my face and put a hair band on my wrist in case I needed to put it up later in the day. I grabbed my phone and backpack and headed downstairs to get some breakfast.

I guess it's about time that I introduced myself, my name is Krista Mayfield, I live in High Water, North Carolina, I'm currently 17 but my birthday is just three short days way. I am a Sophomore in college, I know that I'm technically "too young" but I worked my booty off and graduated high school early so it works. I still live at home with my family, we have our own house cause my Father is the Alpha of our pack.

Yes. I know what your thinking and it's true, I'm a werewolf. Well I will be you see, I'm 17 still and I haven't shifted yet so I don't have my wolf yet. That will all change soon though, just three days and I will shift and I'll be able to start looking for my mate.

"Krista get your breakfast before your father eats it all!" I heard my mom call me and walk into the kitchen, I grab some toast and a banana not feeling all that hungry and also running late to meet Sam at the school.

I kissed my mom on the cheek "Morning mom! I have to get to school early to meet Sam, I love you! Bye" I rushed as I grabbed my keys off the hook, almost out the door when my Father's voice stopped me in my tracks.

"Krista, there are some new wolves that are on our territory looking for their mates, they'll be attending your school so if you see them be nice please? I don't want them to feel unwelcome, they are from a neighboring pack and their families are old friends" I nod my head in response kiss my dad on the cheek, and rush off to school.

After a thirty minute drive I pull up to school and jump out, I saw Sam and I screamed as we ran to each other we crashed into a big bear hug, (yes we are those friends).

"Oh my gosh I missed you so much!" She said and we broke the hug. "I know I don't know how I survived without you!" Man was that the truth.

We saw each other over break, of course. Spent lots of time at the beach and just hanging out in general, I mean we practically lived at each others houses! However Sam's birthday was a month and a half ago, so she had to start her training and also her family went on a vacation for like three weeks so I haven't seen her as much as usual as of late.

We were out front of the English department when the we realized the time. We walked to our first lecture of the day and picked out our seats and put our stuff down, I went over to Sam and started to talk about her trip before the teacher got there, I wanted to know everything.

During the conversation I heard the door open but was too involved in my conversation with Sam and some of our other friends that had joined upon their arrival. Sam stopped talking and focused on something behind me, she was staring wide eyed, I wanted to know what had her so distracted. I turned around and there was four cute boys, well three cute boys and one extremely hot one, he had brown hair styled in this messy, effortless pushed back style, he was wearing all black and from the looks of his arms he had A LOT of tattoos... he is SO hot! I was basically drooling at how absolutely stunning the god like man.When suddenly I remembered that my birthday is in a couple of days and I will be able to find my mate and I know for a fact that the moon goddess would never me with someone as hot as him no matter how much I have prayed for basically a mate just like him I knew he was just too far out of my league. Plus he definitely is one of the wolves looking for his mate, not to mention that he's probably a lot older then me he has to be at least 25-26, I mean age doesn't really matter when mates and werewolves are involved but I could practically feel the power radiating off of him and I didn't even have my wolf yet! there is no way that I would be paired with such a strong Alpha!

Harry's Pov,

I'm not going to go into detail about my morning mainly because its not very interesting, I got up, got dressed, and drove to the new school I'm attending while one the BloodMoon Packs territory. Alpha Mayfield told me that a lot of the wolves from his pack go to this school which I could tell by the smell but I could also smell some humans, So it's a mixed school which is common considering it's a big city and it's not just a werewolf community.

I'm Harry, I'm here in High Water to try to find my mate, I'm 26 years old so I'm starting to get concerned that I don't have one. Which would be bloody terrible if you ask me but if that's what the Moon Goddess has planned for me then I guess I don't have much of a choice, but that sure as hell isn't going to stop me from looking for her.

I grew up in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. You guessed it, I'm British. My family moved to the states when I was 16 after our Pack was attacked, my father was lost that night, my mother was lucky enough to be blessed with her second chance mate, Robin when we moved here. He was an Alpha of one of the biggest packs in America. My sister Gemma she found her mate last year, He took over Robins stop as Alpha and Gemma is now our Luna, I'm be an Alpha but I lost that opportunity from not having a mate yet. It didn't really bother me, I would be the Beta of our pack unless I don't find my mate, or unless she is to become the Luna of a pack, making me her Alpha... If she accepts me that is.

"Harry! my main man, nice of you to finally show up" one of my best mates Louis said knocking me out of my thoughts as I walked up to our group.

"Yeah, I figured if I'm here to find my mate I should get out of the house and start looking around shouldn't I?" I jokingly replied.

As he was about to say some smartass response when we noticed everyone rushing inside and we figured it was time to head to class, we didn't want to be late to class on our first day, well we didn't care about being late to class we just didn't want to miss an opportunity to find our mates. We were all just leisurely walking a when I suddenly got wind of this amazing, intoxicating, overwhelming, and addicting smell of Lavender, Cedar wood, and what I could only describe as sugar, my wolf Marcus was howling with glee, he kept chanting

"Mate, Mate, go to mate"

Over and over again, I started walking a little bit faster towards following her smell which lucky for me lead right to my first lecture I was so lost in her sweet smell, I could barely see straight. I opened the door and almost fainted at sight of my gorgeous mate. She was tall and tan, she had perfect long blond hair that was pulled back away from her face in a natural wavy style, She had the most stunning face that I had ever seen, she had very little make-up on which worked because she didn't need any she was so gorgeous, she was wearing very skinny ripped jeans that hugged her in all the right places and a green crop top that showed her skin which made me mad because I didn't want anyone else seeing what was mine!

I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth when I caught her checking me out, wondering if she was think about me in the same manner that I was thinking about her. Shit, it's taking every ounce of self control I have to not rush at her and claim her right here right now!

But just the she realized something and turned around, which made Marcus whimper because that means she didn't recognize me as her mate, or she did and didn't want me. I couldn't help the longing to walk up to her and say hello, to tell her how beautiful she was, how much I wanted her, how much I loved her eyes. So that is exactly what I did. I walked my way over to her and tapped on her shoulder.

"Hey, my names Harry, It's nice to meet you." I introduced myself to her once she turned around.

"Hi, I'm Krista, I don't mean to sound rude so if it comes across that way I'm sorry. But why are you talking to me? I mean your so hot and so much older then me...I.. uhhh.. umm I mean your like older and you don't want to embarrass yourself on the first day here talking to the awkward nerd when you could get in with the top of the food chain so easily with your looks.. I mean age...  I mean I'm, I'm going to shut up now " My little mate was rambling with nerves, making me chuckle at how adorable she looked all flustered, not to mention that she called me hot, but I didn't like the fact that she thought that she was embarrassing, a nerd, or saying that I was so old, Kind of hurt the ego a bit... I guess her hot comment could make up for that.

"What are you talking about? I'm only twenty-six??". I asked her confused.

"Yeah and I'm only sevente.." before she could finish her friend cut her off.

"Oh come on Krista you know your turning eighteen in like three days." my cute little mate was blushing at the reveal of her birthday being so close, especially it being such an important one.

It all made so much sense to me now, she wasn't rejecting me, she didn't recognize me as her mate because she hasn't shifted or got her wolf yet. Without her wolf senses she wouldn't be able to identify my smell, or feel our mate pull as intense, she would still feel it but she wouldn't be able to understand why she is feeling things towards me.

"Oh well, don't worry I just wanted to introduce myself to such a gorgeous girl as yourself, I'll see you around love" as I was walking away I winked at her and she blushed, bloody hell she looks so innocent when she blushes. It makes me want to do very unholy things to her! Which is okay because I am her mate but if anyone else was thinking these things about it I would rip their throat out.

I turn my head back as I walk back to the guys, because and can't stand not looking at her for longer than three seconds and I see her looking at me a bit flustered, her breathing is labored and her cheeks are tinted the most beautiful shade of pink. It's good to know that my words had there intended effect on her, 1 point Harry.

Krista's Pov

I can't believe that he just freakin' talked to me!!! Like the hottest guy that I have ever seen in my life just came and talked to me, he literally just called me love! Let's not  forget he called me gorgeous!! I think something is wrong with his eyes I mean has he seen me? I mean don't get me wrong I know I'm not ugly, I just don't think that I am pretty enough for the literal hottest guy to say I'm gorgeous!!!

Also how sweet is he to talk to me and not even care about my nerdy status! I mean the wolves here wouldn't dare disrespect me like that but the other students here find every excuse they can to pick on my age and my grades.. which doesn't make sense to me? like you come to college because you want to learn stuff so you can get a good job.. why would you want to have bad grades????

"what the heck just happened???" Sam said pulling me out of my thoughts.

"I have no stinkin' idea! like did you see that man? like holy smokes he is good looking" I said fanning myself trying to cool down, feeling like the temperature has risen like 20 degrees in here since him and his friends walked in.

"And let's not forget that incredibly sexy British accent!!" One of my best friends Ashlyn said. No matter how much I agree with that statement, it was makes me feel super annoyed that she just called him sexy, why am I feeling this way? Normally I would be blushing at her use of the word "sexy" but no I'm fuming with anger at the thought of someone else finding him attractive!

"Get a grip woman! You have no claim over him!" my subconscious screams at me. As much as this irritates me I know she is right. He isn't my mate and I don't have any sort of claim on him... he isn't mine.

"Do you think he is one of the wolves that's here looking for his mate?" Ashlyn questioned.

"I would assume so. I've never seen any of them before, heck I didn't even know we had wolves coming on our territory until my dad said something this morning. Why do you ask?" Was my reply to her, irritated that she was intrigued with him.

" Well I'm just wondering why he came over and was talking to you of all people".....OUCH! that was kind of harsh. I mean I'm as surprised as anyone that he was talking to me. I know that I'm not the prettiest girl around but I wouldn't expect one of my best friends to be so shocked that I could actually attract male attention.

As if sensing what I was thinking, probably because I wear my feelings on my face, she jumped into action to dig herself out of this hole.

"I didn't mean it in the way that you are thinking!! I just meant that his whole purpose here in High Water is to find his mate, so by him coming and talking to the most literally prettiest girl in school, I assume that means that he hasn't found his mate yet which means that talking to you could come across as him being a guy who doesn't put his mate first and flirts with other girls before he finds her... or he found her and he's a huge player..." Ashlyn nervously rambled, making some really good points.

" I don't know Ash, maybe we should consider the fact that maybe Krista is his mate??" Sam cut in. Both mine and Ash's heads snapped towards her staring in shock and confusion.

"I mean, she doesn't have her wolf yet so she wouldn't have been able to sense if she was. But he doesn't come off as the kind of guy to cheat on his mate, and he's twenty-six. Don't you think he is a little too old and mature to be flirting with girls that aren't his mate?" She said trying to explain her logic.

" I mean, yeah but like me? And him? I mean that's funny Sam I don't think the Moon Goddess would do him that disservice. I mean he is way out of my league! We aren't even playing the same game that's how far out of my league he is." Was my response to her outrageous theory.

"oh don't start this crap again! Krista you are the most gorgeous girl in the whole world! As much as you don't believe it, Sam's right. I mean his whole purpose of coming her is to find her, why would he jeopardize that by making her insecure and jealous of you?" Said Ash, They hate it when I talk bad about myself.

"And don't bring the Moon Goddess into this! You know just as much of the rest of us that, looks, age , and status have nothing to do with who she pairs you with! All that matters is that your mate is your other half. They complete you! Heck, your probably the best mate that guy could get!" Sam said being the best friend ever and boosting my confidence up a little.

I looked over my shoulder behind me at him, my mind jumbled with the possibilities of me and him being mates. As if sensing me staring his head turned at that exact moment. Gorgeous green eyes locked with mine, a stupidly attractive smirk on his face. It was that moment when Professor O'Neil walked in telling us to find our seats so we could start. It was like he knew how he was affecting me, my breathing labored, my cheeks flushed, and my heart pounding.

I couldn't tare my eyes away, he chuckled as he winked at me and faced the front to pay attention to what our Professor was saying. I rushed to my seat, trying to calm myself down and control my breathing. Trying to pay attention to my English lecture, but was struggling because my mind kept floating back to what Sam said.. could I really be his mate? Maybe.. but if I truly was, why didn't he say anything?

hello nita, this is a 'moon' anon c: haha actually i compared siyeon to the moon unconsciously, based on some intuitive feeling i got from her. but when you verbally designated this similarity of her and for the rest of the members, i came to the realization of this idea, thank you for that. don't you mind share your opinion on this? moon anon! love that for you, it’s a cute name :) im glad you understand and get that vibe from them too haha i wont write said essay, but i’ll try to summarize some points i’ve thought about! they’re basically based off of cheesy moon-related anecdotes…

Dreamcatcher obviously as a whole, their group image and lore revolves around dreams, sleep, and consequently, the moon. that much is a given, but i feel as though even individually, they emanate vibes that i personally would associate to the moon on a given night. now, i dont have any knowledge on moon cycles and what they mean or anything like that, but each one of the girls have their own personalities and feel like they could represent ‘moons’. To me:

Jiu is like a supermoon. You know when the moon gets huge and shines brightly? That’s how I envision her. She’s always so positive, bright, and living larger than life. She’s strong and here. She’s here to brighten all of our darkest nights.

Sua radiates bloodmoon energy lmfao not just because its red and red is Her Colour, but there’s this obvious and kind of overwhelming energy about it? if that makes any sense. she’s sensual. she’s passionate. she’s anything but boring. You have absolutely no choice but to stop and admire it- admire her for all she is and can be.

Siyeon is like the full moon, but on a semi-cloudy night. She’s like how one would feel standing in the woods amongst the quiet rustling of leaves and chirps of grasshoppers, looking up at a white moon behind perfectly shaped clouds. there might be a wolf howl or two if you’re lucky.

Handong is the crescent moon. sure you can’t see much of it, perhaps its shy and hiding most of it’s beauty- but you know it’s beautiful. there’s something mysterious and elegant about it. You want to see more of it, but at the same time you think it’s beautiful the way it is.

Yoohyeon is also a crescent moon, but it’s the one you look up to when you’re walking home in the city, kind of lost in thought. she’s the moon you find comfort in- you’re familiar with. she’s the moon you drew as a kid when you first learned to depict the things you found beautiful onto paper with crayons. she feels like home.

Dami is the faint moon you see in the sky when there’s still sunlight, and she is the moon you don’t see when it’s pitch black out and the stars are in the sky. When you see it faintly against the blue morning sky, you remember how pretty it is no matter what time of day it is. You naturally question why its there, but you are always pleasantly surprised…and when you can’t find it in the night sky? you don’t worry because you know it’s not gone, it’ll always be there, watching over you.

Gahyeon is a half moon, but an extremely bright one. You know she has more to show, but by god do you just know - you feel it in your bones - that she’s powerful and radiant. You look up at it and you are filled with this hope…a hope that spreads warmth in your heart and soul, because you look forward to how it’ll change and grow as the nights progress. and you’ll be there, every night.oops i think i ended up writing an short essay anyways, but here you go moon anon! my two cents ;)

Nepenthe

She’s the Goddess of Revenge from another world, and came to Sornieth to search for her father and kill him. She grew up alone in a forest and had to learn how to survive on her own.

She’s not very good at conversation, but what she lacks in social skills are excellent tracking abilities and hunting skills. She could track down almost anyone on the planet using only a few leads. And she’s good at killing too and isn’t afraid to get bloody

Bloodmoon

Her family was murdered when she was young, and she suffered from a bad concussion that gave her amnesia for a lot of her earliest memories. After her injury she was raised by a violent skydancer who taught her all sorts of ways to kill. She was raised to believe killing was a way of life, and she began to enjoy it a bit too much.

She’s not as stealthy as Nepenthe, and she’s not a good tracker, but she’s really useful if you know where your victim is, because once Bloodmoon know where her prey is, there’s no stopping her.

Dracula

He’s a vampire and would do anything for blood.

He’s an unusually tiny nocturne and it’s easy for him to sneak into places. However since he cannot enter direct daylight he ca only travel during night, so progress may be slow. (there’s also the chance he may just settle for who’s blood is easiest to get)

Shade Chasers

They’re specialized assassins that hunt down any Shade creature. So if you’re having any Shade problems, these are the dragons to call.

Tiberius

He was once a fae and his mother was obsessed with the Shade. She experimented Shade energy on her own children. Tiberius was lucky enough to run away before she could infect him. He enrolled in the Plague Academy of Shade Chasers(PASC)  and saved up enough money for a breed change to give him a better advantage in the boot camp.

Tiberius is one of the most skilled Shade Chasers that PASC has to offer. He is in the top class known as the Irradiated Mages. He has been infused with powerful Arcane magic to destroy the Shade with. Only a handful of dragons survive to become one of the Mages.

Evarado

He was always violent, so he decided to use that violence to destroy the Shade. He isn’t friendly company, but he’s an effective Shade Killer, a melee class in PASC. His many skills include blood magic, strength, high pain tolerance, and skills with many weapons.

Renek

Her background in botany as made her skilled with poisons of all kinds, and she’s discovered a few that have an affect on the Shade. She’s not good at directly fighting Shade creatures. She isn’t very strong, nor does she have powerful magic, but she is sneaky and quick on her feet. She’s the best at investigating Shade activity, but not destroying Shade creatures.

Monachopsis

He was born with a ‘blessing’ from the Plaguebringer. From his scales ooze acid. It is painful, but he has grown used to the pain. What’s worse to him is that he cannot touch anyone without hurting them.

But his acid has some use. It makes him immune to the Shade and he’s able to burn it away. He is part of the melee class of PASC, the Shade Killers.

Flare

A very talented and experienced artist. She’s an expert in several different mediums including many different paints, like oil and water color, and she can make both wooden and stone sculptures. She can be hired as an art teacher or commissioned. 

The only downfall of hiring her is her curse that makes her burst into flames at random times. She needs to have a water source around her at all times and it’s recommended she stay away from flammable materials. 

Soul

If you need someone to sing or write songs, then Soul is your dragon! He has a way with words and an incredible singing voice. He can play a few stringed instruments as well.

He’s also a mechanic so he can be hired for that as well.

Frankenstein

She’s a beginner artist but has gotten really good at water color and oil pastel. She started painting as an art therapy as she tried to find meaning to her strange existence. She’s literally the corpse of a few different dragons stitched together and given sentience, so that was a bit of a complicated issue to sort out to put lightly.

but hey now she’s a walking corpse that paints so that’s pretty cool!

Muerto

He’s a beginner artist and like Frankenstein, he also became an artist from art therapy! He’s not the best artist, but he’s young and is still learning. He’s getting better everyday and he’s proud of himself for it. Also did I mention he’s a literal child and it would make his day if someone commissioned him?

Healers

Hecate

She’s the best healer of Ton Theon. She can quickly close up wounds within seconds and repair all internal damage with her magic. However, she learned the hard way that her magic is not limitless. It takes a lot out of her to use her magic to heal, and she often needs to eat and sleep to recover. If she uses too much of her magic at once she can not only drain her body of energy, but actually use up all of her magic and she would be forced to go back to her Source Magic.

The magic that Hecate uses is not her own, but is powered by a legendary Pear that was once owned by an infamous Pearlcatcher known as Cassiopeia. That story is a long one, but she has to return to the deadly territory that Pearl is found in in order to regain her magic if she is drained of it.

Alaria

She’s another healer of Ton Theon. She’s not as good a healer as Hecate, but to be fair Hecate is only as good as she is by stealing magic that’s not her own. Alaria doesn’t heal with magic, but instead that good old fashioned way with bandages and herbs.

Alaria grows her own herbs and knows everything there is to know about medicinal plants.

Alaria is also a mechanic and uses these skills to give some of her patients prosthetic limbs, and in one case, a new nervous system.

Bacitracin

He’s the God of Healing from another world. He’s only visiting Sornieth for a short time, but he has knowledge of all things medicine. Unfortunately he cannot use his healing magic here on Sornieth, as magic works differently in this world than in his own, but he can still pass on his knowledge of medicine to anyone who needs it, and he’s particularly knowledgeable in mental health, unlike Hecate and Alaria.

Archaeologists

June

June is a particularly bold Archaeologist who had been studying the Light Ruins since she was a hatchling. She became particularly fascinated in the Hewn City and dedicated her life to research in it.

Sadly she uncovered some nasty Shade activity in the city, and became Shade-Touched. She ended up being trapped in the city for almost a year with no recollection of it, and lost her mate and granddaughter who were studying the city with her to Shade infections.

Still, even though she knows how dangerous the City is, she wants to go back and further her research.

Night

Night has always been a jack or all trades. They’ve been a philosopher, an artist, a creative writer, a journalist, and a astronomer. Recently they’ve been dabbling in archaeology. They’ve been studying the civilizations of the beings of the Third Agem which eventually led them to the Hewn City. They almost died there from Shade Activity and an Emperor attack, but they survived and the experience only peaked their curiosity even more.

Cooks

Firespitter

He can make some mean soup. He’s so good at soup. He’s also pretty good at making stew, and pretty much anything with meat in it. He’s always cooking something and he loves trying new things.

Sometimes he also gets hit with random prophecies or visions so that’s just a bonus to him being your chef.

Bonita

Bonita is a bit better with cooking the veggie dishes, even if she herself hates them all her tundra customers say it’s really good.

She’s a bit loud when she cooks and likes to sing badly as she does so, so if you can put up with her horrible singing she’s the chef for you!

Kissa

Kissa is best at baking all sorts of sweets. From cookies to cakes to pies, she can do it all and she loves doing it. She often can’t stop baking she loves it so much.

So help her out and either hire her or buy some of her cookies!

Necromancers 

Peripeteia

Peri is a necromancer. There’s not really much else to say about it. She was born into this life and she didn’t have the choice to become a necromancer. It wouldn’t be all that bad if it didn’t also come with a curse that makes her slowly rot away.

Luckily there is a way to reverse the rot, but she has to steal from the living in order to do so. Don’t worry, she’s a nice necromancer and would never want to harm another dragon, but she’d happily raise some zombies for you if the price is right.

Scutum

Scutum learned necromancy as a hatchling, much to the horror of his birthclan. He ended up using his power to attempt to raise and Emperor and use it to attack the Lightweaver. The plan failed, and the Lightweaver banished him from her land. Now he lives on a little island in the Starfall Isles called Nihil and he raises the dead to amuse his Queen.

But he wants to do more with his gift. Necromancy has so much potential. Hire him and maybe you’ll find out.

Animal Tamers

Elymas

Elymas thinks snakes are pretty cool, so he’s developed a bond with a few and has learned a lot about snake behavior. If you ever need someone to tame some snakes, or remove them, then Ely is your guy.

He’s also pretty good at training horses, but I don’t think there are any horses on Sornieth and I doubt a dragon would need a horse.

Arkina

Arkina is a huge animal lover. She loves animals so much that she has dedicated her life to reaping animal souls. For the wild animals she reincarnates them, but for the animals who had been beloved pets, she keeps the souls safe for when the owner dies.

She’s good with any kind of animal.

Zeamays loves corn. He’s really good at growing corn. His corn is really good. He’s also great at growing other crops. Pretty much any crop you can imagine he can probably grow and it’ll be really good too. But corn is his favorite to grow.

Amara

Amara doesn’t grow food, but she is a really good gardener! She’s good at growing house plants and flowers. She knows the perfect temperature to grow her plants, and what sort of soil is best for them. She can also recommend insects to help a garden flourish.

Elysian

Elysian is good at growing food like Zeamays. Unlike him she uses magic to grow it, so if you want a good, quick crop she can be hired, but afterward you may not be able to replant anything as her magic tends to suck all the nutrients from the soil.

Historians 

Lakra

Lakra is Ton Theon’s oldest librarian and he knows just about every book written and released to the public in the Sunbeam Ruins. He knows the history of Light through and through, even some parts that the Lightweaver herself is ashamed of. He used to keep the knowledge of Emperors a well hidden secret, but since his clan came face to face with one of the undead beasts he realized just how dangerous concealing knowledge can be.

Masika

Masika is Lakra’s mate and his assistant at the library. She knows almost as much as him, but she’s never been the best at memorization. She also tends to be a nervous wreck and it’s easy to spook her. Still, she tries her best and could be helpful with recommending books especially if they deal with the Sunbeam Ruins.

Designers 

Virtuous

She’s a busy woman who doesn’t leave much Time for herself (ironic considering she’s the Goddess of Time), but in her free time she enjoys knitting, weaving and sewing. She’s be happy to make anything from stuffed toys to clothing. It’s a good distraction from the demon that’s been hunting her for billions of years.

Nullity

Much like her grandmother, Virtuous, Nullity as found a love with clothing. She’s really good at designing new dresses and making new outfits. She also have an eye for everything make up and hair style. She could give you a makeover, or just give you a few tips on fashion.

Thieves

Juno

Juno is the captain of the Foo’s Eye pirates. She’ll do anything for money. She’ll steal, or murder or anything else shady as long as she’s being paid.

Spa

Lavender

Lavender is the owner of the Ember Sun Spa and Resort. He’s happy to let anyone visit his spa and resort.

The Amygdala we see in Yharnam are probably moreso projections of real ones that seep into the waking world from other higher realities. ^^ okay this is a really good point and ties interestingly with something a friend mentioned to me when I was subjecting her to this ramble in real time, which is that the ones in Yharnum are called “lesser Amygdalae” rather than just Amygdala. They’re also not explicitly noted as gods, at least in English, though I’m not sure about the Japanese. She also posited that the gods exist in layers, and killing them in one effectively banishes them from it without necessarily clearing them from another layer (which I tend to agree with and which ties in nicely with the concept of other worlds that is common in Soulsborne games, and which ties to Bloodborne specifically to explain phantom spirits and invaders. And, you know, characters where you have to kill their iteration in your world to summon them for help later.)

Also! @lakay​ pointed out in the notes that the Amygdala arm weapon drop might be from an infant or adolescent, which is an interesting thought, though then you have to wonder what happened to kill it or how it came about at all. Maybe the gods’ curse struck again (I swear there was something about the gods wanting babies but being unable to have their own, for whatever reason, which led to them making humans into great ones or trying to take human infants in their place. That face when the gods are playing baby simulator the same way humans do with house cats, I guess…)

So I was thinking about a possibly-bad-faith argument I had with someone regarding old gods, their ability to die, and bloodborne.

And it occurs to me that it’s probably significant that you can only kill the Amygdala that choose to fight you.

The ones in Yharnum? Not happening. It’s Nightmare Frontier or Chalice dungeons only. They either throw you around if you go somewhere they don’t want you (like near the corpse of the Hunter in the Cathedral Ward) or they just kind of look at you (try smacking the Oedon chapel Amygadala on the hand, out the doors where Eileen hangs out. Spoiler: it just swings its head around to look at you.)

And I find myself wondering whether those amygdalae that we can fight are weakened due to being shadows of themselves (dungeons) or maybe from connection to humans/even being made by humans (nightmare frontier). Like… the One Reborn sort of looks like a crappy juryrigged corpse amygdalae (I want to say @fishbowlcarnage pointed that out? Correct me if I’m wrong). What are the chances Mensis had a prototype run in the nightmare or something and they left it there because it’s kind of a weakling? Or because it can’t leave. Hell, maybe it’s an adolescent.

Moon's entire existence revolved around his family, and now? He almost killed his sister. He didn't even care. Quite literally just told her "Oh well"!

Even though he aimed to kill Bloodmoon, she's the injured one… God, I can't even describe, how much this fucks me up…

To be honest? A part of me wants these burns to be permanent. A consequence and reminder of Moon's action. A physical reminder, why he will never be forgiven, and him and Earth will never be close again.

And a part of me hopes, it turns Earth colder. That it becomes something, that changes her. After all, this was her brother. A person, she trusted dearly. And now? She sees him the same way as she does her father. Something that he acknowledged, but yelled at her for.

And now? He's occupying some place in space, though the question would be: how long? Last time someone floated in the void, Dark Sun swept him up and put something devastating in his head.

AND OH GOD, BLOODMOON'S DEAD- HE WAS DISINTEGRATED ATOM BY ATOM-

There were in general so many things that were said about the twins, about the way they work. Ruin never created them with bloodlust. It was never part of their programming to begin with.

Did their old selves have it at all? Was it so deep in their code, that it was invisible to anyone else? Or was their something else driving them this entire time?

And what made the new version so bloodthirsty? Was it simple enjoyment? Was it their memories?

Speaking of which- RUIN IS FUCKING BACK- HE IS A FREE MAN ONCE MORE!!!

I am so damn excited what his journey will lead to- He's such a fascinating character!!

You've already pointed it out, but the way he tried to comfort Earth is so interesting! It seems that Eclipses flock to her, in some way!

And of course, Puppet. Oh god, Puppet. They used up all their magic, to the point of a breakdown…

All of this seems so convenient. All of this feels odd, as pointed out by Ruin and Puppet both.

Could this all be part of Dark Sun's scheme?

Furthermore, could he be the reason, Moon snapped? Could he have planned it?

Is a solid explanation for why OG Bloodmoon expressed frustration with his code before he died, but why Bloodmoon 2.0 had no issues with it. because they were doing that shit for funsies HEJHAJDHS

Bloodborne Lore Ramblings

Here we go again!

THE BIGGEST SPOILERS PLEASE PLAY BLOODBORNE BLIND

The blood, where does it come from? What does it do? Why does it do that? Why has no one copped on yet? These are questions no one in Pthumeru, Loran or Yharnam has ever even considered thinking about. Yes! The blood is old, very old, it's the Old Blood, and Yharnam was not the first civilization to encounter it or be destroyed by it. To learn about the Old Blood, we need to go back to who ruined everything for everyone in the beginning: the Pthumerians. This will be a rather extensive post, I fear. I don't plan these out.

The Pthumerians were an ancient race of prehumans, spooky, pale, tall, thin humanoids with sunken features. Creatures right out of a mediocre Internet creepypasta. They were the first to encounter the Eldritch Truth, the existence of the Great Ones, the Nightmare, eyes on the inside, all that. Pthumerian society seems to have become completely obsessed and centred around the Great Ones, rites such as Marriage only being available to Pthumerian royalty, when they presumably 'wed' a Great One, bearing its child, and also considering themselves as custodians of the Great Ones. The Old Lords of the boss names Keeper of the Old Lords and Watchdog of the Old Lords are most likely the Great Ones. The Labyrinths in which the Pthumerians dwelt hint towards more of their highly ritualized existence. Pits full of corpses, bloody pools, candles just absolutely everywhere, treasure and store rooms draped in cloth and statues, the Pthumerians lived for stuff. And died for it, and un-died for it. It would seem the Pthumerians had their own unique powers over undeath (for all the basic chalice dungeon enemies are emaciated, skeletal and rotting, the Merciless Watchers are covered in open sores and look slick) and, for some reason, fire. If it has fire, it comes from or is ultimately linked to Pthumeru (yes, Maria and by extension the Vilebloods have Pthumerian links).

Pthumeru's downfall is uncertain. Maybe they couldn't keep up with the pace or demands of their ritualized existence. Maybe the effects of the Eldritch Truth were too much for even them to bear. Maybe it was the blood turning everyone into beasts. Maybe it was all three. Pthumeru contains beasts like we know, but also their own unique variations, namely the Bloodlicker (those huge tick looking things) and the Lost Children of Antiquity (those gargoyles). And yes, you find both in Cainhurst. Simply put, Cainhurst wanted to take on the mantle of ancient Pthumerian royalty, didn't really work out so well.

The Old Blood itself is of alien origin. My personal belief is it comes from an Ebrietas, of which Pthumeru has one, in the city of Isz. Perhaps that is the first Daughter of the Cosmos, who knows. I believe this because we're told the source of the Healing Church's special blood is located in the grand cathedral, and who lives there? Ebrietas does. She's right goddamn behind Amelia's boss room. Just out of sight, out of knowledge, is like the whole source of the problem at the very beginning of the game! I don't know what you'd call that, but I think it's neat. Now, you might say, she's found in the Upper Cathedral Ward! Yeah, but that's only how you access that portion of the Grand Cathedral. When you go to pick up A Call Beyond, look over the railing. It's Amelia's boss room.

Anyway, blood, use it, turn into a beast. But this is complicated. First, the actual problem isn't even really the liquid itself, it's what it's IN that liquid – Vermin, the writhing centipedes seen and sought out by those beautiful bastards in the League. Vermin, the root of all man's impurity, seem to be what actually cause us to turn into beasts. It is, after all, a blood borne disease. Perhaps eggs or small, larval forms are carried through, which then grow and cause mutation, or, as it is hinted at in the Beast Roar tool description, it simply awakens something deep within the human form... You find vermin too in Silverbeasts when you kill them, one or two large silvery vermin burst out, and the headless version of the Bloodletting Beast (gotta talk about him too!) has an absolutely colossal one inside of it.

So, use blood, get vermin, become beast. Now you're a beast, what happens next? Well, that takes us to Loran, and land devoured by the sands.

Loran is interesting because it's here we encounter what appears to be beasthood's final phase – electricity. Loran itself has small electrical surges in the air caused by the endless sandstorms generating static electricity. Curiously, this is also present in some of its beasts. The Loran Silverbeasts generate an electrical explosion, as does its big, big brother, the undead Darkbeast, a creature seemingly held together by matted fur and animated by sparks and marrow. Another bolt-based beast is the Abhorrent Beast, who actually seems to have wind-based attacks, much like the winds eternally rushing through Loran. Are these beasts a unique product of their environment? Potentially. But we also find a Darkbeast far from home in Yahar'gul and an Abhorrent Beast in the Forbidden Woods (well a man, who turns into one at least). I think it's fairly safe to assume they're not unique to that place, but Loran definitely got them first.

There's also that pesky piece of description that says that the devouring sands had its roots in the beast scourge. So, maybe after all, bolt beasts and wind powers are a Loran original. But then there's also the idea that Yharnam will be next. Crazy, crazy theory here, but do beasts make wind? Sand? Do they alter an environment to block out Kinhood? If Loran fell like that, and Yharnam's now 99.9% beasts, there's a chance. We do see a lot of stuff floating in the Yharnam air in the evening light...

Beasthood is the anithesis is Insight. Did you know, in-game, the higher insight you have, the harder it is to build up the beasthood meter? The real icing on the cake is the bolt, though. Only one type of enemy the game as an inherent weakness to Bolt – Kin. Kin are people who have been changed by insight, or by experimentation in post-human creatures. It's a sliding scale, then. If Kinhood is the potential in a human for alien ascendancy, then Beasthood is the opposite, degeneration even further from humanity, and an active reaction against it, generating the electricity that Kin naturally fear. It should be noted that those not long off becoming beasts lose their eyes, as the pupils turns to mush, and we all know the more eyes the spookier you get. That's why so many hunters like Gascoigne and Djura, and so many Yharnamites have their eyes covered. It's been posited that Beasthood is like an immunity reaction to an alien element – to the Old Blood, or the alien Vermin. Although possible, I would wonder why Vermin seem to thrive inside degenerating bodies. But Beasthood does seem to be a reaction.

You've got to wonder, three civilizations fell to this stuff now, why did no one ever stop to think that clearly it's causing a huge, irreversible problem? Pthumeru was obviously obsessed, maybe even haughty. Loran, well, there's so little info that it's hard to say.  I get the feeling they were horribly overwhelmed by sickness, beasts and sand. Yharnam clearly was controlled by the theocratic Healing Church, and likely the knowledge was suppressed by those who sought to experiment with it for ascension. I love how Laurence just straight up lied to Willem, though. I will not forget our adage, eh? Yeah, won't forget it, but I will just completely ignore. Good job, Larry.

Lastly, there is again the problem of the Great Ones, specifically one of them – the nameless Moon Presence. It's quite heavily implied that the Moon Presence, or the Bloodmoon, or both (or one and the same) are responsible for this particular apocalyptic outbreak. Old Yharnam saw a Bloodmoon before, a message found near the Charred Hunter set states that a red moon hung low. Nights of the Hunt happen, and are regular occurrences if the casual nature of the NPC dialogue throughout Central Yharnam and the Cathedral Ward are to be taken as such, as well as the mention of 'old beast tales' in the Church Pick's description in the Old Hunter's DLC. They're just not city-ending events. At most a few people god bad, and the hunters deal with it. But tonight is different, tonight the School of Mensis is doing their big ritual to call down the moon with a nightmare newborn as bait.

So how does this work? If beasthood is a reaction against old blood/vermin/alien influence, then just what exactly IS the Bloodmoon doing as it gets closer? What about it causes such a horribly violent reaction in the infection/vermin that causes beasthood to go berserk? Maybe Vermin aren't even alien, maybe they're naturally found in humans and they go nuts when Old Blood is introduced, turning us into Beasts. It's all speculation, but they are regardless the root of man's impurity, and I think it's possible that maybe they really are man's after all. I think it's merely the nature of the Bloodmoon itself, as an alien thing. I think it's because the Moon Presence is a true, proper, alien Great One and as such must be immensely powerful or just immensely other, making the reaction go into overdrive. I don't think that's too far-fetched, because they are called Nights of the Hunt, not days, evenings or dawns, but Nights, when the moon is out, but it's normally so very far away.

There's the belief that the Old Blood might come from the Moon Presence. It's not impossible. Blood is bred through people like Blood Saints who have purer or more power strains. It's bred and doled out via Ebrietas, who I am mostly sure was once a person, or a Pthumerian, but not a Great One proper. It could explain the Moon Presence's connections beyond is just being the most alien creature mankind has encountered, why its presence causes beastpocalypses.

Actually maybe lastly, there's the Bloodletting Beast as a source of the Old Blood. I myself have really nothing to refute this or defend it. He's just too unimportant. He's got a big vermin in him, sure, and in Japanese his name is 'Host of the Beast Blood', which seems pretty damning. But what do his names mean? Perhaps he's the first beast, or the oldest beast. Micolash was the host of the Nightmare of Mensis, but he was just the manager running the show. Being found in Pthumeru, the oldest place we know would surely give the idea of him being one of if not the old beast an edge. Before the DLC people thought he was Laurence, actually. Some still do. I don't think so. We met that asshole.

Of course, beasts also hate fire. Then what in Kos' name are Beast-Possessed Souls and Loran Clerics?! Pthumerians have fire powers, do they keep them? Loran wasn't Pthumerian though! Can they even be counted as true beasts?!

Alas, I am now really truly rambling because we're at that very special point where there's basically no evidence to back a thing I say, but that's why I love Bloodborne. The endless, completely unverifiable lore theories.

The Top 50 Songs of 2016

I’ve been sitting on this one. For a while. You see, I don’t think I’ve EVER listened to more music than I have this past year. All told I listened - in full - to over fifty albums and approximately 300 new songs. After listening to so much, and realizing that I had added well over 100 songs to my shortlist, I realized that this year (and probably the years to come) needed an expansion beyond just 40 songs.

2016 - musically - was a fanfuckingtastic year. We got so many new albums by so many great artists. It would be impossible for me to shorten this list to forty, so this year I’m giving you fifty! Will I expand the list further next year? Depends on how much time I have! Also, this year I tried my absolute best to make sure that these songs were only released in 2016 (or SUPER late 2015) in SOME form, be it a music video or on Spotify. The best song that one of my favorite bands released this year.

46. SRNO - Stay Sane feat. Naaz

A haunting melody and tight vocals from Naaz make this track worth a listen.

45. Saba - The Billy Williams Story

Similar to “Little Chicago Boy,” Saba’s “Billy Williams” is an example of excellent storytelling in rapping.

44. Comet Blue - Spaceship

One of the best deep house songs released in 2016, Comet Blue’s debut single is very promising and shows how much potential this group has to be great.

43. White Sea - Bloodmoon

Ethereal, mystic, and beautiful are just a few words to describe this dream pop hit from White Sea. She’s definitely someone to look out for in the coming years.

42. Alex Newell - Keep It Moving

A throwback to early 90s power pop, Alex Newell proves she has the vocal chops to pull off a huge song like this. It reminds me of songs like “Don’t Wanna Fall In Love” by Jane Child, in the best ways possible.

41. Icona Pop - Brightside

Once again, Icona Pop delivers a perfect pop song. To me, they’re a staple of dance pop, and I will not rest until they are relevant in the mainstream once again.

40. Twenty88 - Talk Show

The R&B duo comprised of Big Sean and Jhene Aiko, Twenty88 proves they have a lot to bring to the table with their debut single. Telling the tale of two lovers who quarrel while being interviewed on a talk show, it shouldn’t work in theory, but by god it does. Big Sean and Aiko have a lot more charisma than they let on, and this song proves it. I’m looking forward to what this group releases in the future.

39. Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam - When the Truth Is

The perfect song to get absolutely blazed to, “When the Truth Is” is stoner rock at its best. Lyrics that are at times almost unintelligible feel haunting and match perfectly with the song’s vibes.

38. A R I Z O N A - Oceans Away

Another song with a haunting beat, “Oceans Away” portrays missing someone you love fantastically.

37. Madden - Golden Light feat. 6 AM

2016 was a good year for EDM. Songs like “Golden Light” are proof of that. While EDM is normally hard and cold, like the title suggests, “Golden Light” feels warm and positive in a way you don’t normally see this genre.

36. Joey Purp - Girls @ feat. Chance the Rapper

An absolutely hilarious rap song with an especially hilarious verse from Chance, “Girls @” is just fantastic and I highly encourage you to listen to it.

35. Gwen Stefani - “Asking 4 It”

My biggest guilty pleasure of 2016, Gwen Stefani proved that she’s still got it when it comes to pop music. The beat is absolutely DOPE, and Gwen’s vocals match the song to a T.

34. Classixx - Safe Inside feat. Passion Pit

Why did nobody think to combine Classixx and Passion Pit sooner? Two groups who are both amazing at their respective crafts (Passion Pit at electropop, and Classixx at remixing music to give it a house edge) couldn’t come sooner!

33. The Weeknd - In The Night

The most Michael Jackson song to ever be released by someone who wasn’t named Michael Jackson, The Weeknd proves that he has staying power and knows how to tell an amazing story through music.

32. Sturgill Simpson - Keep It Between the Lines

The best country song to come out this year, Simpson - along with Kacey Musgraves and The Steeldrivers - gives me hope for the failing country music genre. To be fair, country music is my guiltiest of all guilty pleasures, but to create a country song that is not only an earworm, but is also substantial? That’s an accomplishment!

31. Chelsea Lankes - Bullet

A great pop song that never charted, Chelsea Lankes could absolutely be a pop star if she wanted to be. Maybe with a bit better marketing she could be a household name. She’s a master at creating pop music, and this song is no exception.

30. Tim Suby - k goodnight feat. Jessie Reyes

A millennial anthem of sorts, the cover art for the single itself conveys the youth’s frustrations with modern romance and how picky people can be today.

29. John Dahlback - Won’t Back Away

2016 was by far the best year for EDM on record, in no small part thanks to people like John Dahlback. While the lyrics may be more one the basic side, what makes this song stick out is the utter positivity to this song, something 2016 desperately needed. Plus, sometimes we just need to listen to a basic love song, and this track fits the bill in spades.

28. Pional - Casualty

Going from saccharine-sweet positive to almost Lana Del Ray levels of ethereal (pro-tip: never go full Lana Del Ray. NEVER.), “Casualty” walks that fine line between super ethereal and super pretentious perfectly.

27. Bridgit Mendler - Atlantis feat. Kaiydo

Possibly the biggest shocker of 2016 was when Bridgit Mendler decided to change from Disney pop to do what she really wanted, and what she really wanted was this (okay so this is nowhere close to the biggest shocker of 2016 but whatever). This song really works! It’s about leaving behind feelings for your ex, burying them so deep they might as well be in Atlantis.

26. Boys - Happy Hour

Another super chill track, Boys seem to be like a more chill version of Haim. And Haim is already pretty fucking chill. 

25. Childish Gambino - Me and Your Mama

I was pretty disappointed overall with Childish Gambino’s new album. It wasn’t bad, but he’s certainly done better before. That said, the crowning glory to the album absolutely was “Me and Your Mama.” I can see why he released this track early; it’s creepy and terrifying and beautiful at the same time. Let’s hope he does more stuff like this in the future.

24. Gallant - Skipping Stones feat. Jhene Aiko

As I mentioned earlier, Jhene Aiko is much more charismatic than she lets on. Her work with Gallant is her at her very best, and this is also Gallant at his very best, too. Sleek, groovy, and downright sexy, “Skipping Stones” is the very essence of 2010s R&B.

23. Lincoln Jesser - Roll On feat. Anjulie

I discovered Lincoln Jesser a few weeks ago, and I gotta say, I’m very impressed. Anjulie’s vocals blend in perfectly with the beat here, and Lincoln Jesser delivers a beat so sick the doctors almost couldn’t revive it.

22. Santigold - Can’t Get Enough Of Myself

A song that’s so boastful it’s almost funny (and I’m pretty sure that was the intent) Santigold’s long-awaited third album was well received and couldn’t come sooner. The highlight? This track, of course! Every so often we need to listen to a song that’s about pure indulgence, and this is it for me. I can’t help but laugh every time I hear it.

21. Chance the Rapper - Blessings

Chance the Rapper feels blessed, and you can tell that he does. This track is heavily influenced by gospel to its benefit, and you can absolutely tell that Chance the Rapper thanks god every day for his success. It’s good to know that there are artists out there that are thankful for their success and don’t become assholes.

20. Kiiara - Gold

A haunting trap song by an artist that really shouldn’t have anything to do with trap. Everything about this song is a minimalistic cacophony that comes together so well you can’t help but try to sing along to the nonsense words during the refrain.

19. Birds of Hell - Astronomy Programmes

A helluva song, I’ll tell you that.

18. Lao Ra - Jesus Made Me Bad

If you’ve seen my review on this song, you know how beautiful I think it is. There’s really not much more I can add to it, it’s just a really great song.

17. Kanye West - Famous

Ha. The song with the music video of T-Swizzle’s tiny tits. But for real, this is a great track, and it samples one of my favorite songs of all time: “Bam Bam” by Sister Nancy. Kanye West is an asshole, who is also a musical genius. So I hate that I love everything he touches. But I still love it.

16. Big Grams - Fell In the Sun

Big Grams were a group I missed back in 2015, so I caught up to them in 2016. This group, comprised of two acts that I already love: Big Boi and Phantogram, blends together seamlessly. Their crowning achievement is without a doubt “Fell In the Sun.”

15. Rihanna - Desperado

“Desperado” is the best track Rihanna’s released in years. I’m in love with the Rihannaissance (a term I just made up that describes how Rihanna is back on top and releasing music that is her best work to date), and songs like this show why.

14. STRFKR - Tape Machine

Indiepop trio STRFKR is already great, and their latest album is the best they’ve released so far. “Tape Machine,” the opening track, is the best one on their best album. By extension, this is the best song they’ve ever released. Check it out!

13. Video Age - Dance Square

Reminiscent of 80s techno. “Dance Square” is like a more pop version of the stuff Black Marble releases, and the world can never have enough Black Marble.

12. Black Marble - Portland U

Black Marble is the best of lo-fi has to offer. I’ve been following them for a while, and the release of songs like “Portland U” shows that they’re still on their A game.

11. Jack Garratt - Worry

British-born Jack Garratt is someone who you wouldn’t think would be the type to sing R&B, but he pulls it off. “Worry” leans more to his PBR&B side than his indietronica side, but nonetheless this track is an example of him at his very best.

10. Kultur - White Door feat. Khary

A mashup of several different sounds, this song proves that tropical house is here to stay.

9. Ladyhawke - Wild Things

An absolutely beautiful electropop song, I’m sad that I didn’t discover Ladyhawke until this year. 

8. Krrum - Evil Twin

A great example of noise that comes together when it needs to to create a great bop.

7. Sleigh Bells - Baptism by Fire

Noise pop has never been better. Sleigh Bells is on, well, fire with their best song to date. Bombastic in its delivery with lyrics sharp as a tack, “Baptism by Fire” is the best song to jam to when you’re in your car angry at your ex for some reason.

5. Kali Uchis - Ridin Round

This song is straight up BADASS. 2016 was very heavy with the Caribbean beat, and this song used it best. Uchis doesn’t need to prove her worth here, 

4. Bear Hands - 2 AM

A song about the fear of getting older. It’s a topic that’s been done over and over again, but Bear Hands has found a way to make it feel fresh again. Never have I felt happier to grow older, the pain, the joy, the boredom, the love, the responsibility, the maturity.

3. Flume - Never Be Like You feat. Kai

This was my number one hit song of the year, and it’s also a beautiful song. A defiant remark from Kai sends the whole song into motion. The flow of the song is ethereally beautiful. It was great. It is great. It’s an example of a perfect pop song that perfectly describes the year 2016 in music.

2. Solange - Where Do We Go

Beyonce may have had the best album of the year, but Solange had the best song of the two Knowles sisters. With a thumping beat and the amazing vocal talents of Solange, “Where” is without a doubt the best track from the album, and the best soul song of the year.

1. Glass Animals - Season 2 Episode 3

You can make a great song about any number of topics. For Glass Animals, that topic was about leaving your lover because she’s a pothead. “Season 2 Episode 3″ is a masterpiece of a song about not wanting to leave your lover, but realizing you have to. And by no means am I against pot, but I have met people who have developed a psychological dependence on it, and it is not fun at all. This track perfectly encapsulates that feeling.
