Ben’s Big BL Blurb 2: Fall is Finally Here
I am simply too busy with worth, family, other hobbies, and life to write about every show in real time anymore. I’m sorry to all the Stray Thoughts readers who’ve reached out about whether I would pick that back up, and I simply just do not have the time to do them anymore. Instead, I’ll try to do one of these as often as I can to catch up on things.
First, let’s go over some shows I finished recently that I don’t think I wrote much about.
First Note of Love
I was so happy to see Michael back on screen, and I was glad to see that he’s still able to get great chemistry with his co-star. Unfortunately, I don’t think this show was very coherent, so I didn’t get a lot out of it emotionally. It was a pretty inoffensive watch overall, and thus an easy show to put on without having to work through too much. I liked the work between everyone, and Mei Lei was such a fun character. Probably won’t return to this one, though.
Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo
This is probably the show of the year for me. There’s so much I loved about this show. I loved that the characters had sex, but were neither rewarded nor punished for it; their sex didn’t solve any problems. I also really love how this show explored how childhood trauma expresses in two different kinds of boys, and I love that we got to see a bully reckon with his actions and get closure. I love that this show ended with them being kinda poor, but happy together. I love how messed up they both were about everything. I loved that Juyeong wasn’t stupid, and could read what was going on.
I clearly need to write a separate post to unpack everything I felt in this show.
Let’s move on to what I’m watching currently, in no particular order…starting with the lesbians, and then the worst BLs.
Apple My Love
Genuinely having fun with this GL. I like how quickly most of the drama plays out. It’s giving me quite a bit of secondhand embarrassment, but I like the characterizations in this show. This new production house brought us Knock Knock, Boys! and Monster Next Door this year. We need to keep an eyes on them.
Haunted Hearts
I’m so fascinated by Oxin Films teaming up with Regal Entertainment. The leads are very attractive, but the cinematography is really boring. I’m trying to stay invested, but it’s kind of a sleepy watch. Also amused that they started airing a ghost romance right after Halloween ended. I’ve kind of moved on emotionally from the season.
My Damn Business
This show could be good, but it’s not. I struggled with episode 5 because our lead looked more relaxed and happier with his senior than the guy he’s getting into a romance with. There’s something missing here in this one, but I can’t exactly put my finger on it. I think it’s primarily a side effect of the short run time, but I think the boss’s interest isn’t landing properly for the employee to respond to.
Eccentric Romance
This show could be good, but it’s not. Still, I am obsessed with a murder mystery being the primary source of confusion between our leads. I was willing to forgive this show a lot of its rough edges, but it failed to handle the turn from friendship to sexual/romance really well. I feel like our guys just started dating and having sex, and I’m a bit frustrated that they didn’t talk about it really at all, particularly since this show features two different languages spoken on screen. Genuinely looking forward to seeing how this one finishes.
See Your Love
I’m not sure this show is exactly working that well, but everyone is very pretty and I’m having a decent time watching it. I like the way Shao Peng stands up for himself, and I like that nothing that’s happened has been totally unbelievable or unreasonable (at least with the mains). I’ll be curious how the hard of hearing and deaf viewers respond to this one once it’s complete.
Love is Like a Poison
This show is actually so funny. I love that Shiba is in his own lawyer genre separate from everyone else, and I really like how the two of these guys have become a team. I’m curious how they manage to resolve the scamming next week, but this has been the most unexpected dynamic of the year.
Love in the Air: Koi no Yukon
MAME won this year, y’all. We all have complicated feelings about her, but she’s secured a loving adaptation from a Japanese team that’s put solid effort into bringing her characters to life. Every character feels correct compared to their Thai counterpart we saw on screen, and that’s a strong sign that the writing behind MAME’s work is strong, even if we all have issues with the way she tackles certain themes. I’m really impressed with this adaptation, and really like this version of Rain.I also feel like this show is doing a better job blending the forthcoming couple focus shift.
Our Youth
We just got this show, but damn does it feel sharp! I’m always going to be a sucker for a cinephile character, and I’m so compelled by the way Minase is drawn to Hirukawa. The scene in episode 2 where Minase has to leave Hirukawa’s house might be one of the most impressive sequences we’ve had in a while, requiring a great deal of choreography and effort from the actors and the camera crew to pull off, and I’m excited to see how these characters split and then come back together.
Smells Like Green Spirit
Let me just say that I need another Abe Alan appearance when he isn’t playing a character doing horrible things to his students. I’ve enjoyed meditating on the 90s with this show and what that era felt like. I’ve liked how the show has tried to focus on how different parents (especially the moms) have responded to their kids coming to terms with themselves. I’ve also really enjoyed the friendship that’s grown between Mishima and Kirino. I’m struggling with Yumeno a lot, because I’m really not a friend of bully romances. Still, I feel like this is one of those shows I’ll remember for a long time because of its focus on the 90s.
Blue Canvas of Youthful Days
I think @lurkingshan covered reactions to episode 5 and episode 6 better than I could, and I loved @twig-tea giving context for the film history moment in episode 6. I remember screaming into the chat for friends to show up for this when I got to that moment. This show has two great pairs of dynamics going on that mirror well. It’s got such a strong handle on its characters’ motivations and how they would respond to the actions from each other. It’s probably the tightest thing I’m watching now, backed by extremely dialed-in performances. I will be thinking about Qi Lu organizing his potential first kiss with Qin Xiao, and how unapologetic he’s been about the entire affair. He’s being selfish here, but I kinda like it. I’m so thankful that we are somehow still getting this show, because goddamn do the Chinese actors deliver on chemistry sometimes.
Interview With the Vampire Season 2
I finished this with a friend last week, and holy fuck is this show still so, so good. We watch a lot of gay romance because of BL, and I am having so much fun watching the show about gay divorce. I loved the time we spent in Paris, Daniel’s shifting role in the narrative, and the new insights we got into Lestat this season. I will miss Claudia so much, and I have to give a standing ovation to Delainey Hayles stepping into the role of Claudia and doing the damn thing this season. I just love seeing my little fucked up gay people torment each other on screen.
I'm still thinking about Louis and Lestat reuniting in a hurricane after Claudia derided this as yet another chapter in their stormy romance.
Dropped Shows
Unfortunately, everyone can’t win. Some of these shows are just too long for me to keep up with them, and oftentimes I get bored. I’ve currently dropped:
Lovesick 2024 - I may go back. We’ll see
Jack & Joker - It’s just too long, and they just killed Jennie and a kid. I’m good.
Fourever You - I’m bored with Earth always playing this character type.
Pluto - Namtam and Film are beautiful, but this looks too messy right now.
Every You, Every Me - Wasn’t intrigued after episode 1, but the commentary may draw me back.
Kidnap - Ohm is not enough to keep me invested in this show.
Uncle Unknown - How did they make a 6 minute show feel slow?
I’m genuinely not trying to be harsh to Thai shows out here, but I just do not have the time to keep up with all of them when they’re this long and dragging.
Thanks for stopping by, and let me know if there’s something I missed that I should check out.

MY SCHOOL PRESIDENT EP.9 – A CALL FOR MARRIAGE EQUALITY
(above) Ep.9 [3I4] 9.00
This little shared moment between Tinn and Gun is also MSP playing its part in Thai BL's collective support for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Thailand. The country is moving toward it, with Parliament having ratified a bill that will make this a reality, but they're not at the finish line yet and there are still hurdles to be overcome (i.e., it could still be pushed back at any time).
With this as the context, many Thai BLs recently have made it a point not just to raise awareness of the issue, but also to keep marriage equality in the forefront of public consciousness lest support for it lose momentum.
I think Not Me and The Eclipse also did this, but I'm not sure exactly in which episodes though (let me know in the notes, if you will, and also which other BLs/GLs joined the party).
I know Bad Buddy definitely did step up to the plate for this, with PatPran spotlighting the issue of LGBTQ+ marriage when they went through their Ep.10 khan maak on the steps of the Archi Faculty (and with a subtle callback too in Ep.11 – see this link here).
So this is MSP's turn at bat, and they're doing it with a sweet little flourish by the sea (maybe nodding at Thailand's popularity as a venue for beach weddings? 😉). Tinn is expressing his hope for them to marry one day, and Gun is radiant (if a little embarrassed and cheekily dismissive) at the prospect.
And in doing so they're keeping the issue alive in the public eye, while at the same time their joyful, puppydog innocence is helping to tear down stigmas and normalize what many still seek to demonize, by showing up the baselessness of othering smears on the simple issue of two people in love wanting their union to be recognized like anybody else's. 💖
A brief note on the Thai linguistics here though – Tinn IS being irredeemably cheesy, but his comment about switching from songwriting to marriage isn't quite as headslappingly klunky as the English subtitles would have us believe.
He's playing on the word แต่ง (pronounced something like dtaeng) which has several meanings, including to write/compose and to marry.
So at Ep.9 [3I4] 9.00 when Tinn talks about switching from dtaeng phlaehng (แต่งเพลง, songwriting, where phlaehng means song/music) to dtaeng ngaan (แต่งงาน, a colloquial term for getting married), his line is not quite as semantically dissonant in Thai as it is in the English subtitles (even if it is a bit corny 😂).
I think it would have been a better fit if they'd translated his comment more along the lines of "switching from writing songs to writing our marriage vows" instead. Ah well. 🤷♂️
Anyway, a tip of the hat again to My School President for finding a way to squeeze in a socially responsible (albeit very subtle) comment on the weighty topic of marriage equality amid all the light-hearted gamboling in this episode.
Neither the comment nor the context in which it's delivered detracts from the other. Even though they're making a political statement, there's nothing obnoxious or in your face about the delivery at all, which is the best way for a potentially-divisive message to land.
I do love this show! 😍

Yandere Show Host (oc) x Gn! Co-Host Reader
Word count:3.k
Warning: cheating, psychological horror, body horror
“It’s cold up here…”
Cool tiles cradle you, curved edges gliding against the back of your legs as you pull them to your chest. You cover your knees with the hem of your shirt, trying to fight the cold in any way possible. The harsh wind slapped at your face and arms; world at your feet from the edge you sat on. You wanted to feel like you were on top of it all. To shout and feel like you mattered to the universe; but it was hard to do so with no comfort at the end of your cries – neither below nor beside you.
“I think we should take a break.”
You ball your fist into your clothes. He doesn’t even look at you when he says it.
“You know I care about you. I just… don’t think I’m ready for this kind of commitment, yet. I’ll.. call you when I am.”
You pull your phone out of your pocket. He’s still right beside you, but so – so far away. You stare down at it, hoping; pleading for his ring tone to play. Praying he won’t leave you again to spend a night in another’s arms.
“Y/n, ugh- come on. Don’t do this.”
Your hands shake. It’s always your fault.
“We just need a little time apart.”
Always we. Your feet feel like they’re losing stability; slipping off to the abyss below.
“Y/n. Y/n?!”
Y/n?
-
You open your eyes. A fan hangs over a velvet ceiling, chandelier below swaying as it blows air down on you. Floral shaped glass that held identical lights as their bulbs. Satin pillows held your back, soft enough to lure you back to sleep near immediately – had you been laying on them completely. Your limbs hung off the side of the couch, neck supported by a hand at its base. The skin was so cold; draining your natural heat till it mellowed into a neutral temperature. The permanent smile on your co-host's face greets you as you turn your attention to him, shoulders rising with a laugh.
“What have I told you about sleeping on the couch, you silly thing.” Host chimes. “You’ll get a crook in your neck. Bad for the show and yourself.”
You sit up with his aid, stretching the exhaustion and ache away with a yawn. The rest of the room wasn’t much to look at. A tall mirror clung to one wall, dressing table pushed in front and light bulbs screwed into its golden frame. Vases of flowers and various cases of makeup lined the table, the latter hardly ever put to use. A rack of clothing stood not too far off, every article tailored to your measurements as apposed to posted to Host’s lanky, slightly built frame. Lastly, there was a grey door, covered by sheer curtains and your name bolded in cursive across its wood. A place where your near every desire lied.
“I'm sorry. Yesterday had me a little more winded than usual.”
“Should we take a break for today then? We can have a good show any day, but a spectacular one only happens when you’re feeling 100%”
“No, no. I’m fine.”
“Wonderful. Shall we get ready then?” Host offers his hand, lifting you to your feet effortlessly. You walk over to the table, taking a seat upon the cushioned chair in front of it. Host tends to your hair, combing out your bedhead with his long fingers. Gentle strokes that fall down to the nape of your neck; relishing in the life beneath his fingertips. He hums to himself, satisfied with his work. With the fact he had such a stunning co-host. His chin rests atop your head; head tilted towards the mirror at you. In the corner of your eye lies your old phone dormant on the edge of the table. It vibrates with the arrival of a call.
“Absolute perfect! Everyone’s gonna love you out there.”
You flash a tired smile, ridding yourself of the hallucination as you look away. How long has it been since you became his co-host? You couldn’t remember. Time stood still for the most part; your only notion of it bring a bell that would toll before the start of each show. It was frightening at first. As a contestant, your time was spent cowering under the audiences' awaiting gaze; but upon your glorious win they did nothing but sing praises to the heavens – celebrating the new permanent figure on their stage. Though he’d never tell another soul, Host walked you through everything until that point. A bit of a cheat, sure, but he knew you’d be wonderful at everything after. They loved you, eternally – even when there were those days you wondered what life was like back home.
“What’s with that look? Do you need something?”
Host snaps his fingers, a stage hand appearing front the shadows. They looked so close to human; differences spilt only when given a long glance. Crooked hands carry a tray; skin an even deeper grey than his. Their neck was a few inches too long; face blank except for a pristine smile – just like your dear Host. He takes a pitcher from the tray, pouring you a glass of water into a cup that wasn’t there moments ago. His hands rest on your shoulders, smoothing the knots in your joints.
“Please let me know what you need.”
You look down. “I was just wondering…if anyone missed me back home.”
The ice in the glass settles. Silence kicks in too long to be comfortable, before Host’s body begins to shudder once more. It quakes with the force of his laughter. His form hutches over yours, trying to keep the laughs inwards to his best extent. He wipes an imaginary tear from an imaginary eye before addressing you again.
“Of course they miss you! You’re bound to be the highlight of anyone’s day, Y/n, but you must remember, this is home now. You’re no bigger of a star to anyone than us.”
“I.. I know, but I cant help it sometimes, y'know?” You say, offering a small chuckle of your own.
Of course he knows. He knows everything about you. Fears, likes and dislikes, – regrets. Your every dream; both in regards to what you desire and those images in your head. If it weren’t for his permanent smile, he’d be grinning with anticipation for what he had in store.
“Yes, I understand, dear. Just know that you belong here, and we’ll never let go.”
His hands clutch the sides of your arms, head angled awkwardly in the mirror. Just – staring. An alarm rings from nowhere, shutting off abruptly after the third buzz. Host clasps his hands together – you jumping at the sharp sound of his palms meeting. He smooths his slick hair back further and pulls your seat out for you.
“Well that’s our cue! Ready to give our fans another great performance?”
“As I’ll ever be.”
“Wonderful. Let’s get to it then.”
You stand to your feet once more, joining Host at a large curtain on the other end of the room; stage lights seeping from beneath the fabric. He exits before you, getting the crowd nice and warm up before your entrance just as he always did.
“Gooood day, lovely viewers! Welcome back to another show with your truly; your forever host – Host!”
The audience cheers. Shrill cheers that become muffled beneath the soundtrack playing around.
“Yes, yes. Hello to you all too. And what a delight greeting it has been so far. We can’t forget our wonderful co-host though, now can we? Give it up for our better half; the lovely as ever, Y/n!”
That’s your mark. The curtain bends under your hand, parting before you can even push them aside. The mutters from the crowd begin. As soon as your legs sweep over the stage floor their voices rise. The headlights blind you momentarily as you step out fully; wrapping you in a daze that felt like waking on another world. Your attire changes under the darkness behind your eyes, microphone in hand; and posture straightening as you greet your adoring fans.
“Greetings, everyone! It’s a pleasure to see you all again.”
The shouts from the crowd are just as; if not more appraising as they were for your partner. You smile and wave; soaking up the attention. Host couldn’t be more proud.
“I think we’re ready to begin another fabulous show. And quite a special one we have today. Y/n, do you know what today is?”
“Uh.. Wednesday?”
Host laughs, followed by a few chuckles from the audience.
“Oh, Y/n. Wednesday was last month. Today is the one year anniversary of you being our gracious star!”
The lights flicker off, returning with a central beam pointed directly at you. A banner hangs over head; congratulating you on the anniversary in bold, red lettering. Balloons and confetti fall around you. The audience hollers in cheer.
“We do love our co-host, don’t we now? Unfortunately, it seems to me that they don’t understand the lengths of our affection. By the end of today’s show I think they’ll have a change of heart.”
Your throat feels dry. What was he on about? Keeping a straight face, you smile into your mic.
“Thank you, all so much. You’re too kind..”
“Haha. No, Y/n, I think you are.. Let’s bring out our contestant!”
The room goes dark once again, more abruptly than the last. When everything settles, the layout of the stage had changed. The vacant area to your right was now blocked by a half wall you could see around if you peak – screen above showing all you needed to see. A large red heart was pastured to the wall behind, three chairs and a podium placing in tow. A landline phone was placed on a stand, as well as one on the podium. Shadows sat to each chair, dim lighting concealing their faces. The fourth stood at the podium, writhing around in place with muffled cries. You could see the outline of fingers over its mouth; the silhouette of more limbs encasing its body and keeping it in place.
“The game of this episode is all about missed connections. In our lives, we make so many new ones, we have to snip the old to make room. No matter how strong the cord may be. Our eager bachelor here knows a lot about that, which is why he’s perfect for our show! Put your hands together for, S!”
Illumination returns to the other half of the stage. The arms around the contestant vanish with the glow; leaving a blindfolded and shaken up man in their stead. Beads of sweat drip from his temple; him squirming in place like he was trying to get off the podium, but was unable. His hands were stuck to the surface no matter how hard he pulled. He was dresses in a letterman’s jacket, the embedded S pealing from the stitching – just like you remembered.
“Host?...”
His glance falls upon you for a single second, before he faces the crowd like nothing happened.
“Quite a looker, isn’t he? Our helpers for today thought so too at one point.”
“H-hey.. hey, what the hell is this? Where am I?!”
“Speaking out of turn are we? I wouldn’t advise that, unless you want to face a penalty. “
The man clams up, shaking like a dog in rain.
“Onto the rules of the game. One by one, our helpers will walk up to the phone and list a few things about themselves. It’s our contestant’s job to remember a single fact about them – their name. Three rounds for three members of his past. Simple enough, right?”
“Please.. I don’t know what I’ve done, but-"
Host lends into his microphone. “Shut up and play by our rules or face punishment like every other rule breaker. ..Let’s bring out our first assistant. Walk on down, A!”
The shadow in the seat closest to the telephone stands up. Their appearance becomes visible as they step into the light. They appeared to be a normal human being; all up to the left side of their face. It was smudged like someone rubbing off make up; lips stretched to their ear and eyelid permanent closed from the abnormality. They pick up the receiver, phone on the other end ringing in response. The constant quivers more, refusing to answer.
“Pick it up.”
The function in his arm is brought back as he hesitantly picks up the phone, putting it to his ear.
“H…ello?”
“We met a weekend in February. I blew you a kiss, you slipped your phone number into my pocket. They had no clue while you held their hand the entire time.”
“Fuck… fuck! Um, February.. R… Riley! Your name is Riley!”
“Corrrect!” Host exclaims. The man breathes a sigh of relief as the crowd cheers. You stare at the ground. Overtime you grew a numbness to the contestants and their cruel fates. You had to, if you wanted to keep your sanity; but this was too much. Too close to home. Home you foolishly believed to be yours alone for years. It feels hard to breathe.
“Everything alright, Y/n?”
“Yea.. Yes just….” You force yourself to bright up. “Excited for our guest getting his first question correct.”
“Glad to hear it! Onto the next one.”
The assistant at the stand leaves and the next makes their appearance. Body littered in bite marks; namely the neck and chest area. They ooze with a black liquid, dripping onto the phone as they take hold.
“We hooked up in the bathroom of the local theater. I saw you leaving a movie with your arm around someone thirty minutes later. You called me the next day. Who am I?”
The man’s lip quivers. “I.. I..”
Steps draw near him. The assistant peers over his shoulder, receiver still in hand. The cord slaps against his neck, tightening as their breath hits his face. They repeat into the phone, unable to take otherwise.
“Frankie.. Oh, god.. Frankie.”
His shoulder heave at the second round of applause. Tears fall from beneath his mask; rambling to himself as his nails rack against the podium.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry-“
“Marvelous! Only one round to go.”
The process repeats. The final assistant walks to the stage. Their skin a pure black, eyes crossed out with a red, crayon like ink. The same ink was sprawled over their chest like an crude, anatomically accurate heart; bleeding down their torso. Their lips moved unnaturally as they spoke, like a frame by frame picture.
“I was the one who you came to most. You promised we’d be together eventually. I smiled when they went-"
“Blair…” The answer comes out in a quiver. He can’t bring himself to say more. He falls to his kneels; forces holding him like a puppet on a string allow him his moment of weakness. Your own legs feel like they’ll give out as well.
“Annnd there we have it, folks! Our contestant has finished all three base questions, but there’s still the bonus around for him to complete.”
“No, no, no. No, fuck you! You said I only had to do three! You lied!”
“Now, now. When did I say “only? Let’s get too it.”
The lights flicker yet again. There’s only a chair on stage, you now in it, and under the crowd's perpetual stare. They feel closer than normal, faceless grins shifting further upwards; socket-less eyes wide open and trained on you. Host appears on the screen above, speaking for the final assistant.
“We met in high school.”
“No.. please..”
“I was the one that learned to sew when you couldn’t afford the jacket for your team.”
“Not you… Anyone, but you.”
“I was there for you when your mother died. Covered your shifts for you and took care of you when you were sick.”
“You can’t be here..”
“You abandoned me everytime I poured my heart out to you.”
“I was scared…”
“Who am I?”
“Don’t make me say this..”
“Who. Am. I.”
“I don’t know!”
Your heart sinks in your chest.
Wrong answer~
Suddenly, everything returns to normal – as normal as it could be in this twisted place. The assistants are back, all staring past you at the contestant. He rips the blindfold from his face, looking around the room. Fear streaked his face as his eyes fell on the assistants, and you before them; silent and in tears.
“Y/n Is that really you?”
You turn away. The assistants stand.
“Y/n! I’ve looked everywhere for you. It’s me..”
He steps off the podium towards you. They advance.
“Everyone else gave up, but I still search. I’m sorry for everything done. Please… I love-"
They grab onto him. Arms around his neck, torso, legs. Their skin melts into his; merging as they begin to drag him off stage.
“Y-y/n help! I’m so sorry. Forgive me, please!”
Your eyes remain on the floor. Even if you wanted to save him you couldn’t.
“I didn’t want to say that! The blindfold! Y/n!”
He’s gone. You’re alone once again. During the whole event the audience remains silent. You don’t know what to do.
Finish the show. It never starts. It never ends. Without you.
“A-and that brings us to the end of another show with your host, Host. And me as your co-host – Y/n!”
The crowd goes wild. It’s a standing ovation. Their hands clap like fireworks popping in your ears. Their praise rang to the high heavens. Howls, whistles, holders; all in your name for another amazing performance. Confetti falls in your hair, roses and other bouquets of flowers at your feet.
The set up is gone. It’s just you, Host, and your adoring fans. One arm snakes around your waist as he proclaims into the microphone.
“Is that all you got for our shinning star? Give it your all!”
An encore of approval, from the people whose love for you knew no end. The people who depended on seeing you every day and never tired from it. You relish in the saudade of their praise; raised further by one new member of audience who could finally give you the love he never could before.

Chatty Baby ~ Min Yoongi
Several chuckles came from around the room as your son continued to yell around the studio, stomping his feet around and making as much noise as possible. Everyone else just looked on with shakes of their head, as ever, entertained by your little one.
“Does he ever stop?” Namjoon asked you both as your son found yet another toy to play with around the studio, “every time I look at him, he’s doing something.”
Both of your heads shook as your son picked up the cuddly toy that he had found before running across to the two of you to show it off to you. Your son threw it down into Yoongi’s lap as Yoongi picked it up, playing along with your son as he usually did.
The high-pitched voice and coos that he used for your son immediately left the boys laughing again. It was a side to Yoongi that they had never seen before your son arrived, but it was a side that they found amazing to watch too.
Your son began to bounce again in front of Yoongi as Yoongi lifted up the teddy. “Daddy, play,” your son instructed, pointing to the wide space that had been left to the side of the studio where you all sat around for him to play in.
“Why don’t you see if one of your uncles wants to play instead?”
“Daddy, play,” your son repeated, trying to take a hold of Yoongi’s hand to pull him.
As expected, the boys helped encourage your son to get Yoongi to move, knowing that they were winding him up perfectly as he shot a glare across at the six of them.
After a few moments, Yoongi reluctantly moved, shaking his head across at the boys. “I thought you guys invited us here so that you could play with him for a little while and give Y/N and I break?” He reminded all of them.
Each of them shrugged though, listening in as your son began to tell Yoongi the instructions for the game that he had made up. They listened in awe, trying to figure out where, as he spoke, your son stopped for breath.
He went on and on time and time again, he never quite found a moment to stop, his words were rushed, and there were plenty of them too.
“He’s a chatterbox.”
“That’s an understatement.”
Jin laughed back across at you as you replied to him, he’s barely three and he talks to us more than you and Yoongi ever do.”
It was the question that was on most of the group’s minds, trying to figure out where your son’s chatty nature had come from. Neither you nor Yoongi tended to lead conversation too much, but your son definitely did.
“He’s making up for the fact that he’s got quiet parents,” Taehyung joked, “I think he could make enough noise for all eight of us sometimes.”
“I still think we should hire him as a warmup act before a show,” Namjoon added.
Your head shook back at him, despite how serious Namjoon was. The boys’ fans would adore your son, the perfect person to use to get them all excited before the boys appeared onstage.
“It must be nice for you and Yoongi to have a chatty boy though, imagine how weird it would be to have a quiet baby,” Jungkook commented, “you always know what he’s thinking and what he wants to do, doesn’t that make life easier?”
“But it also means that when he throws a tantrum, he lets everyone know that he’s not impressed,” you laughed in reply, flipping the tables back around.
Jungkook’s eyes widened as you spoke, having not considered that all. “Maybe you should invest in some earplugs, your boy has got a strong set of lungs on him,” Jungkook joked, leaving you nodding in agreement, having learnt it the hard way.”
As their game began, the volume soon increased from your son, talking everyone through exactly what he was doing as he played. Even as you watched, you could predict exactly what was going to happen as Yoongi followed along to your son’s instructions, barely able to find a second to interject throughout the game.
It had everyone in stitches once again as they watched on, “doesn’t this feel like a bit of a one-sided conversation between the teddies?”
“The daddy teddy has been put in his place,” Hobi joked in reply to Jimin, earning himself a glare from Yoongi across the studio. “It certainly seems as if someone’s being bossed around, and that person definitely isn’t Yoongi too.”
Your smile continued to grow as you watched on, allowing the boys to see what you and Yoongi experienced every day. “You’d expect for him to crash and burn too, or need to catch his breath, but he won’t do that.”
“I still can’t get my head around where his chattiness comes from,” Jin spoke up, scratching over the top of his head, “we were all expecting the two of you to have a quiet child who barely made a sound, but Y/S/N is the complete opposite in every way.”
As another growl came from your son as he ran around, you found yourself without a moment to speak. His murmurs were far too loud for anyone else to be heard, waiting until he quietened down a little before replying.
“I don’t think we’ll ever figure out the answer to that one,” you smirked, shaking your head as your son cornered Yoongi yet again to start chatting to him about their game.
“Are you sure he didn’t get swapped or something?”
You immediately reached across and hit Jimin’s arm as he asked the question, shaking your head back across at him. Most of the boys could just imagine, a loud family living somewhere wondering why their child didn’t ever say a word, but you and Yoongi both knew that your son was most definitely yours.
Just by his eyes you could tell he was Yoongi’s, there’s was no need for anyone to ever need to debate that. “At least Yoongi looks like he’s having fun,” Namjoon laughed as Yoongi picked your son up and carried him around.
“Faster! Faster!” Your son repeated over and over again until finally Yoongi reached a speed that he was happy with. Even after Yoongi was fast enough, your son was shouting out all the possible directions that Yoongi could move in.
“It’s like watching Flash move around the room.”
Another glare came from Yoongi as Jungkook teased him, barely able to keep up with everything that your son had to say. “One of you could help me out and do this, you’re a lot stronger than I am to carry him around.
Their heads all shook, sitting back on the studio floor as they made the most of having to watch Yoongi dart around all over the place, with your son giggling behind him.
“He’ll stop eventually,” you tried your best to reassure Yoongi, “maybe by the time we tuck him up in bed tonight if we can get him to be quiet for long enough.”
“How do you guys do it?” Hobi laughed, “I’m getting tired just watching Y/S/N, let alone being the one that has to entertain him all day.”
Yoongi carried your son across to where you were all sat, “unbelievable stamina is what it takes to keep up with the nonsense that this one talks.”
“Truthfully, we’re both exhausted!”

i forgot 2 ask in the last ask 2 ☹ who drew ur pfp 👀
it's from the readriordan website, here's the link to the spotlight article about drew tanaka. since I've only been using official art lately, im counting the website as official 🤔 if it wasn't official I'd put the artist in my bio
but anyway long answer short, I'm going to fucking murder you rn for bringing this up 🤣 because i can't find out on the website nor wikia so i needed to search.
here's my thoughts and my journey😭🕵️:
at first i looked at cover artists of rrp books
Vivienne To did the art for Dragon Pearl and The Last Fallen Star so the art style feels familiar and she is clearly tied to the Riordan label, but it didn't feel right.
Vanessa Morales also did art for Paolo Santiago and the Forest of Nightmares, which was also kind of similar but her work was like, too dynamic to feel right for this profile. the colors she uses are so vibrant!!!
....then i got lazy and only did those 2 😭 the rest felt too off anyway
The problem with those two is that it seems they only draw for things related to their culture (which is a neat move on riordan's side i think) but the pjo artist all seem to be the same for the pjo articles.
🕵️🕵️🕵️
so i went to insta (@readriordan) 😭😭😭 and this motherfucker doesnt tag nobody and doesn't say shit in captions 😭😭😭
i went thru a couple of posts of the pjo art to find an artist. i realized that there seems to be at least 2 artists but neither have been named. someone on insta also felt this way but no response 😭😭😭
i tried not to cry when i go thru so many posts . there's this one about Zoe nightshade with #warriorcrushwednesday that someone commented their WCW was Leo Valdez and others say Nico Di Angelo. i try not to think about this too much.
🕵️🕵️🕵️
→ anyway insta tells me nothing. Twitter tells me nothing or at least not that i can search too much as i don't have an account.
→ Facebook. i just fucking know the answer is probably there because it's fucking facebook but i don't have an account and it won't let me keep scrolling. so fucked up 😭😭 the @readriordan about page never fucking loads
all the fucking links at the bottom of the page lead to Disney, like DISNEY DISNEY. i skimmed thier terms of use for no reason.
finally i straight up Google search the images... nothing shows 😭 the first one i did was the hyacinthus image which was a mistake because it kept bringing up tsoa. so i didn't the pic of jo and emmie which only brought 5 or 6 Google pages. nothing.
🕵️🕵️🕵️
i look up many variations of "who draws the character art for read Riordan?" nothing but the old artists we already know show up, but this is not their style!!!! sobbing
🕵️🕵️🕵️
my last resort: email this man. i head to the rickriordan website, which is different from readriordan. his contact info says something along the lines off "fuck off!!!!! i took down my email 🤣 and u gotta contact me on twitter insta or Facebook to get a hold of this rich guy 🤑🤣🤣🤣 even tho i don't run that shit!!!!! gl fans 💓"
🛐 can not wait for the purge, i thought
🕵️🕵️🕵️
my final option: i expect to mail a letter to the publisher. i am not to expect an answer.
so i do not actually mail him.
🕵️🕵️🕵️
anyway i do not have a conclusive answer. i can only say this is official art and perhaps one day Riordan will answer the people. tbh some of the art is real iffy and kinda gross but LOL no clue who did it 😭 i hope this pain satisfies you but there is no answer here from me. hopefully someone can find them out there 💓
frankly imo, it's really irresponsible to not say who ur artist is! but i am not millionaire nor am I the artist not getting the clout so where does that put me. just a blogger with a drew pfp and hopeful asker who gets nothing 💕 stay cute bro

Reluctantly Rooming: Part Six
Link to Masterpost
I am... running low on prompts for this! I have one really good one I think I’m going to explore for part seven, and then a few more that go really well together a ways further into what I think the story here is going to be, but almost nothing to tie them together. I COULD just write out that story, but I have so loved responding to your prompts and they really have driven this story to what it is. Feel free to send more my way!
This chapter uses two prompts:
“You’re on level 176.” / “Can you judge me harder?”
and
“You’ve been replaced.” / “All right, we’ll see how you feel when you need me to kill a spider in the shower.”
Enjoy!
~*~*~
“You’re on… wow, level 176. How have you not gone insane yet?”
Aelin didn’t even turn to look at the speaker, too focused on the puzzle game she was playing on her phone. “Wow, Rowan, can you judge me harder? You know I’m so very into you judging me for the things I do to stay sane when I can’t even walk.”
“Damn, Aelin, you talk that way to every guy who walks through your door?” the voice laughed.
Finally setting her phone aside, she turned and shouted happily when she saw Sam standing there instead. “Gods, I’m sorry, I lost track of the time,” she said as she rushed—or hobbled, she supposed—to hug him.
“And you’ve gotten worse at telling voices apart,” he laughed. “I guess I should be flattered, though, if you really thought I sounded like Tall, Brooding, and Handsome.”
“You’re not even into men,” she protested.
“If anyone could persuade me, it’d be him. But that’s beside the point. You seriously forgot we moved Girls and Sam day over here so you wouldn’t have to get a ride?”
Aelin grimaced. “Uh, it’s been a long week?”
Sam snorted and shook his head. “Nice try. Some of us actually had to work this week.”
“Wow, rude.” Even as she was saying it Aelin tugged him to the couch. “You’re going to have to make that up to me, you know.”
“I know,” he grinned, holding up a small paper bag.
Aelin’s eyes widened and she snatched it from his grasp, tearing it open to reveal several bars of chocolate. “Gods, I love you.”
The sound of someone clearing their throat sounded behind them, and Aelin whirled around to find Rowan coming back from his afternoon run. “You do realize there are more rooms in this house than the living room for that, right? You’ve got options that won’t traumatize your roommate.”
Aelin blinked, and then began to laugh, clutching at the cushions of the couch to keep herself relatively upright. “Oh gods, you thought… you thought we…” She couldn’t even get all of the words out.
Sam decided to take pity on her, grinning over at Rowan. “That’s ancient history. Like, sophomore year of college ancient. We’re better off as friends.”
“Best friends,” Aelin added as she began to recover, holding up the chocolates as some sort of proof of their friendship. “You’ve been replaced, Rowan. You’ll just have to live with it.”
Rowan only shrugged. “All right,” he replied. “We’ll see how you feel about that when you need me to kill a spider in the shower.” Before she could say anything he was walking up the stairs and out of earshot.
When she turned to face Sam again, he was staring at her. “He’s been in your shower?”
“What? No, not like that,” she stammered. “The spider thing was one time.”
“I’m just saying, you never let me in your shower. You like him.”
The door opened again, and Aelin breathed a sigh of relief as Lysandra saved her from having to answer. “Are we feeling wine or whiskey?” she asked. “I brought both.”
Aelin frowned. “I’m feeling like if I say yes to either a hovering overprotective buzzard will come down the stairs and tell me it interacts with my pain medication,” she called pointedly in the direction of the stairs.
Her phone buzzed with a text alert almost immediately, and she read it with a laugh. “See?” she asked, holding the phone so they could read the screen:
Said overprotective buzzard would be absolutely correct and doing you a favor.
“Wow, who texts like that?” Lysandra asked.
“He does, apparently. And he can come say it to my face if he has something to say to me!”
Sam laughed beside her. “You tell him, Aelin.”
But the man upstairs remained remarkably silent in response, and her phone didn’t alert her to any further messages, so instead Aelin hobbled over to the kitchen and brought what was left of her brownies out of their hiding place.
“Wow,” Lysandra said when she saw them. “You actually bothered to cut them?”
“It’s not like I had anything better to do,” she replied. It was true enough; she certainly hadn’t been doing much, mostly because Rowan would glare at her until she was resting again if he felt she was overexerting herself. Feeling a flare of irritation at the memory, she promptly snagged one of the squares for herself and bit into it with a happy little sigh.
“All right, so when are we going to talk about the fact that you let your hot roommate into your shower?” Sam pressed.
“Wait, you what?” Lysandra leaned in, eager for details.
Aelin whined, head dropping into her hands. “For the last time, it’s not like that,” she protested. Still, though, she couldn’t help but remember the way he’d helped her into the bath the other day, how his words had been so rough but his hands so gentle on her as he’d…
Aelin yanked her mind away from that line of thinking, hoping she wasn’t blushing but strongly suspecting she was based on the heat she could feel in her cheeks. “You’re assholes and I hate you both,” she grumbled as they both started laughing.
“Oh, Aelin, we love you too,” Lysandra grinned.
“Besides, I couldn’t think of him that way anyway. Do you want to know why I really cut the brownies? He cut one out of the middle of the pan. And I know he doesn’t eat sweets, so I don’t think he even ate it. He’s a monster.” Aelin took the opportunity while she was venting to remind herself of all the reasons such thoughts were a terrible idea. Perhaps this time it would work.
At the very least, it was enough to convince her friends to drop the subject, and she would take what she could get in that regard.
~*~*~
Rowan didn’t emerge from his room until the others had left, and even then he was even quieter than usual as he took his now-customary seat in the armchair. That in itself was odd, but when she glanced over at him she found him looking back at her with an expression she couldn’t quite place.
“Take a picture; it’ll last longer,” she quipped, knowing the best way to get him to speak would be to try to get a rise out of him.
Sure enough, it worked. “You say that as though the very image of you isn’t seared into my retinas at this point.”
“I can’t tell if that’s rude or flattering.”
“Good.”
Aelin snorted. “Gods, are you one of those people who likes to think they’re all deep and mysterious?”
Rowan laughed in reply. “I am neither deep nor mysterious, trust me. You just haven’t asked.”
“All right,” she said. “Why are you staring at me then?”
“I wouldn’t call it staring, but I was just wondering if I’ll have to deal with any more exes you’re weirdly friendly with dropping by unexpectedly.”
“Oh.” This time, Aelin knew she was blushing. “No, Sam’s… Sam’s different. And we weren’t always friendly.”
“No?”
“Gods, no. We dated years ago, like he said. He was… a different person, then. He was going through a lot, and he didn’t really know how to handle it. We were over well before he broke up with me, I think.” Aelin smiled softly as she reminisced. “After that, I think it was… three years later? We were both working by then, and we happened to get hired by the same company. He tracked me down and told me everything. We both left Rifthold together eventually, and Lysandra came with us.”
Rowan shifted in his seat to look at her properly. “I didn’t know you weren’t always in Orynth. Aedion mentioned you were from here, but not that you’d had to move back home.”
Aelin’s smile turned sad. “You never asked.” After a moment, she realized that her words sounded too close to an accusation and rushed to continue. “I mean, I never asked anything about you either. I’m not trying to blame you or anything.”
“I’m certain I would deserve it if you did,” he replied.
“Hey, that’s enough being weirdly deep for one day.” Aelin paused for a moment, thinking about her next move. “What if I asked you one question about yourself, to make us even? Then we can go back to me watching my movie and you making fun of me like we usually do.”
Rowan shrugged, but looked somewhat wary. “Fine, I suppose.”
“Okay. I’m sure you’ve told me what you actually do for a living, or Aedion has, but I can never remember. So what is it?”
Her question was met with laughter, but his green eyes shone with relief. “That’s seriously what you want to know?”
“It’ll do for now.”
“Fine. I’m an editor. This whole time, and every time you’ve seen me working out here, I’ve been reading someone else’s book—or what will become their book, anyway—and tearing it apart so we can make it better.”
Aelin grinned. “Are you one of those mean editors? Like everyone’s least favorite high school English teacher, who makes everything bleed with red pen?”
“Spelling and grammar are usually taken care of for the most part before it gets to me. I just make notes in the margins about what parts of the story work and what parts don’t.”
“Mean notes?”
“Sometimes.”
Aelin finally smiled. “You know, I don’t know what I thought you did do, but that definitely wasn’t it.”
“I live to surprise,” he replied in the driest tone she’d heard from him all afternoon.
“Fine, then surprise me by not making fun of my movie tonight.”
She was met with only silence, Rowan clearly not finding her challenge worthy of a response. But he didn’t make even one sarcastic comment as the movie began, so she took it as a win regardless.
About halfway through, she glanced over at him to find his eyes once more on her. This time, however, she didn’t say anything. Instead, she only smiled.

Anchored, But Irradiated // GL!JFM
Pairing: Gardner Langway x Fem!Reader Word Count: 5.9K Style: One-Shot (prompt: person A having a broken leg and person B has to carry them up and down the stairs to their bedroom every morning/night) Warnings: Fluff (to quote a reader: #holyheckinmoly there’s a lot of it), swearing Summary: Gardner has to deal with a broken leg on his route, forcing himself to establish a bond between him and you, the nurse who helps him. Permanent Author’s Note: To clarify, I write because I get bored. Nothing is meant to be professional in any way, nor is meant to offend, cause anxiety, cause anger, cause sadness, or promote disagreement among readers in any sort of (semi)permanent way. A/N: @love-me-a-good-prompt , you’ve done it again. Thanks for the inspiration! I changed it a little bit to fit this character better, but the idea is there. Expect to probably be tagged in a lot of my stuff because your ideas are lovely and I always give credit where credit is due. P.S. I hate the name of this story - I tried for like 20 minutes to come up with something better but I just couldn’t.

“Gardner, I told you that one day this was gonna happen, you never listen to me.”
The sound of Calvin’s voice echoed through Gardner’s brain, scolding him for something he already felt stupid for letting happen. The two of them were currently seated in the emergency room because Gardner tripped over the ledge of his boat and felt right onto his leg, breaking it. Calvin all but dragged him into his car, Gardner, for once, at a loss for words. Not saying what came to mind only because the sheer amount of embarrassment he felt was overwhelming. The orthopedist came back into their room after having put on Gardner’s cast and grabbing the discharge papers, now accompanied by a new nurse that neither boy had seen before. The two looked at her questioningly, giving the doctor a chance to explain himself.
~
“Normally, we don’t allow one of our on-staff nurses to help out with at-home care, but we know that Calvin works full-time, and that you are a mailman.”
“Carrier.” Calvin shot Gardner a look as if to say ‘there’s the Gardner we all know.’
“Regardless. Clearly, this is going to inhibit your ability to do your job properly, so that is where Y/N comes in. She’s already been cleared through your office and ours, so she will be helping you both at home and at work. Obviously, this is covered by insurance, but don’t think of her like that. She’s there to help you and be your friend, too.”
“Um, okay. I guess since you cleared it with my boss.”
“Great. Now, all I need for you to do is take these papers to the front desk, and you are good to go. I’ll see you in eight weeks to remove the cast. Nice meeting you both.”
The doctor made his way out of the room, which left Gardner and Calvin alone with the new face. They were both staring at you in somewhat a state of shock, which made you a little uneasy. But, you had worked with worse clients than two guys who were about your age, so you felt like you could handle them.
“Well, I think you two have clearly had enough of the hospital atmosphere for the day, why don’t we get going so I can make sure you’re situated for the night, Gardner?”
“Okay.”
“Wonderful. Calvin, you can lead the way to the front desk with his paperwork. I’ll push him in his wheelchair behind you.”
Calvin picked up the paperwork and started to make his way to the front. You were left alone with Gardner, and you reached over to help him stand and he retracted himself from you. Physically moved away so you could not touch him. It was as if nothing about the situation had been explained to him.
“Gardner, you do know that I will have to touch you in order to help you, right? You need someone to balance on.”
“I know. I’m just not very good with other people. Especially them touching me.”
“I understand, hon.” You let out an adoring sigh. “But you’re going to have to trust me. Sure, there are certain things you can do without me or with crutches, but sitting and standing, doing your job, those kinds of things are not doable with crutches. If anything, they’ll make you less stable, and you’re not allowed to put weight on the cast.”
“I know,” Gardner practically whined while looking down at the floor. His face pained you, because it was a clear mix of emotions. He was obviously upset with himself for allowing a dumb injury like this to happen, but he was also dealing with an internal battle regarding you. And you did not want him to hate you by the end of this experience – he seemed like a nice guy after all. You dropped the floor in front of the bed where Gardner’s legs were hanging, opting for this method of looking at his face versus grabbing his cheek to avoid crossing a boundary before he gave you the okay.
“Calvin is probably wondering if we got lost on the way to the front, so I think it’s about time we go. Do you trust me, hon?”
Gardner made eye contact with you, shaking a little bit from embarrassment. He nodded his head a little bit, giving you the okay that you needed, and you lightly patted his knee, beaming up at him to show him how proud you were for overcoming that hurdle. You had been informed of Gardner’s condition, and you were not going to push him too far. You just wanted to get him to trust you, and he confirmed that he did. You stood up in your place, and grabbed the folded wheelchair placed next to his bed, opening it for him. Once all the proper motion-locks were in place, you walked back in front of him, extending your arms forward.
“Just pretend like you’re going to hug me and wrap your arms around my neck so I can get my arms underneath yours. That way I can balance you while you turn and sit down using only one leg. Remember to only put weight on the non-broken one.”
Gardner took a deep breath in, and ever so gently, like you were made of glass, placed his arms on your shoulders, hands lightly plopped on the back of your neck. You took most of the initiative and grasped the underside of triceps, the entirety of your arms pressing upward against his, bringing him to stand at his full height, which was much taller than you. Then you carefully instructed him on how to turn around on one foot, and changed the way you grasped his arms when he went to sit on the chair. Once he got himself situated and comfortable, you propped his leg up on the leg rest, unlocked the motion locks, and crossed your arms in front of him, smirking.
“See? That wasn’t so bad. Now the hard part is done until we get to the car. I’ll just push you around from here.”
You went behind him to grab onto the handles of the wheelchair, slowly pushing so as not to move him too harshly at first. You gathered up momentum, and before you knew it, you had caught up to Calvin, who was attempting to score a date with your coworker who was at the front desk.
“Calvin, she’s married, hon.”
“Oh, I-I wasn’t trying… to… yeah.”
You smiled pitifully at him, laughing a little bit, and took Gardner’s discharge papers from his hand. You helped him fill them out before making your way to Calvin’s car. Once there, he looked at you as if waiting for instructions.
“Alright. I will get Gardner in the car with you, and then I will fold up his wheelchair and bring it with me to his place. Once there, I’ll take everything on myself, you won’t have to worry about a thing, Calvin.”
“But what about meals?”
“I’ll always arrive early to cook and stay as late as he wants me to.”
“So, I’m useless in this equation?”
“No, honey. There are just certain things I have to do for Gardner that you aren’t medically qualified to do. If you wanted to cook him breakfast one day, that’s totally fine, I just have to help him get to the kitchen and whatnot. But for now, let’s get Gardner into the car so you two can show me the way to your place.”
With that, you helped Gardner get into the passenger seat of Calvin’s car, instructing them to not leave the parking lot until they saw you drive up to their car. Once you flashed your lights at them, he pulled out of the lot and you made your way to the house. Stepping out of the car and grabbing Gardner’s wheelchair, you noticed the boat parked in front of the house.
“I live on that boat.” Gardner blankly told you once you got him in the wheelchair and started pushing him toward the house.
“You’re joking, right?”
“How do you think he broke his leg?”
“You fell off the boat? Is that why you looked the way you did back at the hospital?”
Gardner’s eyes went wide and he was thankful that you were behind him and you could not see his face and how red it had gotten, embarrassment resurfacing. You could see his shoulders tense up at your question, and you wanted to think of something that might make him feel better about how he got hurt. Then it dawned on you.
“Gardner, hon, I have helped people who have injured themselves in much more embarrassing ways than tripping. Remind me one day to tell you the story about the guy who was having just a little bit too much fun with himself using a plant, of all things. I have some real doozies for you, I promise.”
You could see Gardner’s shoulders slump back to their original posture, and he actually turned around to face you. Still pretty red, but awkwardly smiling, too. It was adorable. Unconsciously, you decided to smile back and ruffle his hair a little bit, a little bit more than stunned when he did not shy away and even smiled a little bit more warmly.
~
After getting Gardner settled in for the night the night before, which was a doozy in and of itself because he did not want to change in front of you, but he was having trouble doing it on his own, you told him that you would be around bright and early to help him get ready before work. He had snuggled down into his bed, and you had ruffled his hair one last time for the night, wishing him a restful sleep. You left Gardner for the first time since you met, and drove home. Gardner, meanwhile, looked down at his leg, a constant reminder of the new presence in his life. The new distraction. He was snapped out of his thoughts when the hatch of the boat flew open, revealing a loud-mouthed Calvin wanting to know what he missed once you two were alone.
“Calvin, nothing happened.”
“Don’t lie to me, brother. I know she had to help you with everything. That means she helped you change. Was it steamy?”
“What?”
“What yourself! You seriously cannot tell me you don’t think Y/N is cute?”
“I don’t distract myself with stuff like that.”
“Well, I for one think she’s just as beautiful as her friend at the hospital. Just, y’know, warn me before she comes in the house. Just in case.”
“Calvin, if I’m in the house, so is she. The only time she won’t be with me is when I’m sleeping. Which I would like to do now. Goodnight, Calvin.”
Calvin shrugged his shoulders and sighed, not understanding how his friend could not even find you the least bit attractive. What Calvin did not know, though, was that Gardner was thinking about you like that. That was part of the reason he looked so embarrassed at the hospital. Sure, most of it was actual embarrassment from how he got hurt, but a little portion of it was insecurity. You were stunning to him, and he never really thought most girls were even cute, and he was just him. He knew there was no hope for him to try anything, considering he was already shy to begin with. He just wanted his leg to get better so he did not have to think about the inevitability of rejection later on.
~
The next morning, you arrived at Gardner’s boat when you had told him you would, and you helped him get ready for work. This mainly involved getting him dressed and making him breakfast while he watched. Toast with butter and jelly. He always had the same thing every morning, and never changed it. Except this time, he told you to make some toast for yourself, too. His way of saying thanks for what you would have to put up with these next few weeks. You had reminded him that it is your job, and you would not do it if you did not want to. Gardner informed you that he always ate his breakfast while he walked to work, and you told him that that was completely fine.
“I can hold your toast so you can push me, if you want.”
“That’s sweet of you, Gardner, but I think I can manage.”
You could see his face flush red when he turned away from you, as if you embarrassed him again. You did not mean to do so, you just stuck the piece of toast between your teeth lightly, and used the hand that was not pushing his wheelchair to run your fingers through his hair. Something you realized calmed him down whenever he got flustered. He admitted to you that no one is allowed to touch him the way that he let you, and you felt a sense of pride. It made you feel warm and fuzzy that a client trusted you that much. Especially one as cute and passionate as Gardner. You had made it to the post office, where you were greeted by his coworkers. You explained the story, thus embarrassing Gardner again. You felt bad each time it happened, but something like this for Gardner is not easily forgotten or gotten over. But he grinned and bared it for you, appreciating your calming demeanor and hands that would stroke his hair anytime you sensed he was overwhelmed. You even did it in front of his coworkers, and even he had to laugh to himself when he saw the looks on their faces. Once Gardner had grabbed his bag and all the mail that was due out for the day, the two of you started his route. You had established while walking over to the post office that you would push him as close to the mailbox of each house as you could. If it was at the door to a house that had some steps, despite breaking postal code, he would just instruct you on how to place everything in the mailbox for the purpose of keeping up with the time he has established these past six years. Despite your legs being marginally shorter than his, you managed to keep up the pace he wanted and you made it back to Calvin’s at the usual time. Something Gardner mentioned in your conversations was that when he got home from work, Calvin would usually be cooking dinner and he would shower away the grime and sweat he accumulated throughout the day. This could possibly be the hardest challenge both you and Gardner would have to face throughout these eight weeks, but if you could get through it once, you could get through it every day. You two had not discussed how this would happen, but you had an idea from previous clients about what the best plan of action would be. You just were not exactly sure how you wanted to bring up the idea to Gardner. You decided on forwardness.
“I was thinking… why don’t I help you sit down on the floor and you can lean back against the bathtub. I’ll wash your hair that way, and then I can move you to be sitting on the ledge of the tub and I’ll give you a sponge bath. Everywhere except the places that would make anyone uncomfortable. Would that work for you?”
Gardner’s breathing had increased tremendously, but he understood why he could not sit in the tub – his cast would get wet and he would just extend the tortuous process of remaining in the cast an extra day.
“Y-yeah.”
Once you and Gardner managed to make your way up the steps, you helped him sit down on the floor by the ledge of the tub. You were about to unbutton his shirt for him, but then you remembered you only needed to do that for the clients you helped that had broken arms. You had to physically stop yourself from grabbing his shirt, and this time it was your face that flushed with color.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. It’s… force of habit.”
“It’s okay. I basically have to get used to it anyway, right? Sponge bath, and all?”
“R-right.”
You let Gardner take off his work shirt while you started running the water. While you continually checked the temperature, you felt his one arm bump you while removing the white tee shirt he wore underneath his uniform shirt. He was going to just toss it to the side like he normally would, but for some reason, he could not let go of it. He lightly toyed with the sleeves while it laid across his stomach. You turned to look at him, realizing that he had gotten redder once his bare chest was out for you to see. He almost seemed insecure about the way he looked, which you felt was endearing. Contrary to how he felt, you though his little tummy was cute, just like the rest of him. You turned back around to check on the water, but ran your hand through his hair, this time tugging lightly. Reassuring him that he had nothing to be embarrassed about. You made a mental note to tell him about the one unruly man you once had to do this for while you washed his hair. When you tugged his hair, you thought you heard him whimper slightly, but pushed it out of your mind because the water had reached the temperature that you wanted. You stood up to unhook the showerhead from the wall, and to grab Gardner’s shampoo and conditioner. You confirmed your suspicions of the whimper, despite all efforts to push it out of your mind, because you felt him whine lightly against your leg when you stood up, as if he missed the close proximity you two were sharing. When you knelt back down, you realized that he had been staring up at you watching all of your motions. You returned to the comfortable spot next to him, smiled sweetly and ran your hand through his hair again, earning you yet another whine. What had gotten into him?
“Alrighty, hon, lean your head back as far as you can without hurting your neck. I’m going to start washing your hair, okay?”
“Okay.”
Gardner leaned his head back, and soon after felt the warm gush of water from the shower soak his auburn locks. You had ceased running your hand through his hair while the water drenched it, and you just watched the water run off the ends of his hair into the tub, as well as the relaxed face he had on. He really looked at peace for the first time since being in the hospital yesterday, and it made you really happy with yourself that you were the one to get him to this point. You were really starting to like this boy, and you hated yourself for it. This was a work companionship, you were not allowed to have feelings for your patients… were you? The more you thought about it, you realized that almost all of your patients were older people, people way out of your age range to date. The few that you had been assigned to that were remotely close to your age were in committed relationships, or people you did not find attractive or had bad personalities. Gardner was none of these. He was kind, shy, right around your age, grounded, and a little quirky – just how you liked your guys. You could not help but wonder about the possibilities. But you had time to daydream another day. The sweetheart relaxing at your side needed to have his hair and body cleaned after a long day of working in the sun. You did, too, but you were not as worried about yourself as you were Gardner in that moment. You carefully laid the showerhead down in the bathtub so as not to have a fountain splashing all over Gardner and Calvin’s bathroom. You squeezed a dollop of Gardner’s shampoo into your hand, rubbed it between your palms and fingers lightly to coat them, and started massaging the liquid onto his head. Immediately the whines returned. But this time, they were not as breathy, or high pitched. They came from a place much deeper in his throat that made them lower in tone and much clearer to the ear. No longer whines, but moans. Quiet, but moans nonetheless. That did not stop you. You realized that the way you normally ruffled his hair would not cut for cleaning it, and he seemed to like the light tugging you did when you ran your hand through his hair to calm him down, so you figured working that into this would not be all that bad of an idea. Each time you ran your fingers through his hair, you tugged lightly at the thickest point and then massaged his scalp lightly. You looked down at his face for a split second, and the boy looked like he was completely in heaven, blissed out beyond comprehension. It almost looked like the face he would make while in a state of ecstasy, not that you minded his expression. You smiled, and moved your eyes back to his hair. Once you felt that his hair had been properly cleaned, you rinsed your hands in the water that had accumulated in the bottom of the tub, and proceeded to pick up the showerhead to rinse out the suds.
“There was this one time I had to work with this guy who had broken his dominant arm.” You spoke at a whisper, earning Gardner’s hazel eyes flittering in your direction. “I had to do just what I am doing for you, except that I don’t mind doing this for you. This guy was… disgusting, frankly.” Gardner chuckled, but it was cut short when you ran your fingers through his hair again to make sure the water ran over each and every strand. “He was unruly, and just not a clean guy. I was so happy that he had his other arm to clean his body. I don’t know if I would have ever recovered from washing him. His hair was enough – matted and curly. If it would have been properly taken care of, I’m sure his hair would have been gorgeous. Except he didn’t and it was always greasy and looked like a bird’s nest.”
“Why are you telling me this story?”
“Because I saw the way you toyed with your shirt when you first took it off. Like you were nervous to not wear a shirt in front of me. I need you to know that you are the last person who should worry about that.”
“Why?”
Shit. You backed yourself into a corner. What would you tell him? That you thought his body was cute, especially his tummy? That he was clearly the last person who needed to worry about his weight since he walked like ten miles a day and looked healthy? You decided to just be forward with him again. It worked last time, so who is to say it would not work again?
“Honestly? You’re just really cute, Gardner. Everything about you.”
Gardner could feel his face flush, and not from the hot water running through his hair, sense that his pupils dilated, and that his heart was beating loud enough to hear it in his ears, but for once he did not turn away. He faced the compliment head on, hoping that you would appreciate the braveness.
“Ditto.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Ditto. Calvin taught that word to me. It means ‘I feel the same about you.’ I don’t think it’s an actual word though.”
Had Gardner just called you cute? Everything about you cute? Well, you’ll be damned, maybe this could go somewhere once he was better and no longer in your care. You repeated the process from moments ago with Gardner’s conditioner, earning a few more whines and groans from your new favorite mail carrier. Once his hair had been thoroughly cleaned, you turned the water off from the showerhead and let it flow freely from the spicket. You placed a hand on the back of Gardner’s neck to brace it for the initial stiffness it would surely feel from hanging over the edge of the tub like that for a while. Once his head was up, you lifted him up to sit on the edge of the tub. He stared at you with half-lidded eyes, looking sleepy, while you grabbed a small towel to rub on his head. His legs were spread apart lightly, so you stood in between them, his eyes level with your chest, but that was not where he was looking. His eyes peered right up at yours, shining like all of the galaxy’s stars were within them. You had placed the towel on his head and started to massage the towel around, gathering up the water that would drip down his back so he would not get the shivers. He simply watched you focus, adoring the way that your eyes squinted a little bit and you pulled your lips in upon one another. Once you felt that his hair was dry enough, you removed the towel from his head, laid it across the back of his neck, and pulled lightly on either end, bringing his head the slightest bit closer to your body. You smiled down at him, pleased with how sleepy you were making the boy look.
“Feel good, hon?”
“Mhm.”
“Good. I realized that there isn’t a real need for me to give you a sponge bath when you have the use of both of your arms, so I can leave while you do that and sit –”
“Would you still do it?”
“What?”
“I was… kind of looking forward it. You have a very relaxing touch, Y/N.”
“Oh, um, sure. Just let me know if I get to a spot that makes you uncomfortable, okay, hon?”
“Mhm.”
You told Gardner you would help him stand so he could remove his uniform shorts, and then he could sit back down in just his underwear. Giving you access to everywhere you needed to clean him. You walked over to the linen closet and grabbed a plush washcloth, and picked out the soap that Gardner liked to use, wetting both under the hot water. Then began the part that was sending both of you into overdrive. You had to wet his body before applying the soapy water to it, so you just went for it. Starting at his shoulders, you lightly rubbed the washcloth down his arms, and came back up to his chest. Slowly you made your way down his entire torso, stopping about five inches above the hem of his underwear, to avoid making his boxers wet and to make him uncomfortable. Then you added the soap to the mix and lightly scrubbed his skin to get off any grime that accumulated over the course of his shift, despite you doing most of the walking. His eyes continued to glare at you, but in the most loving and sleepy of ways. You rinsed off the soap from his body and he made a motion as if he was going to try to stand, thinking you were finished. You pushed him down by the shoulders, earning a sharp intake of breath from him, and now wide-eyes. Still sparkling with all the stars in the night sky, though. You proceeded to wring the washcloth of its dirty components, running fresh water over it. Then you kneeled down, still in between his legs, and brought his face down to look at your own. The next thing Gardner knew was he felt the damp cloth all over his face, gently stroking to open up his pores to clean the delicate skin of his face. His face had already been red, but the close proximity and the fact that the washcloth was hot made it worse. He did not mind, though. He just continued to watch the look of concentration on your face, until he was snapped out of it.
“Close your eyes, sweetheart, don’t wanna get soap in them.”
Gardner did as he was told, and let the suds run down his face, reveling in the feeling of you washing them away and patting his face like you were telling him he was your good boy. Once all the soap had been properly rinsed off, you grabbed the larger bath towel and began to dry off Gardner’s body. You left his face last again, and when you got to that point, you unknowingly had inched closer on the floor to him, so that when you removed the towel from his face, your face was a mere few inches from his. You both stopped breathing momentarily, not realizing how close you really were. Gardner then lightened the mood by flashing a dorky smile at you.
“Thank you, that felt really good. I hope that wasn’t weird of me to have you do that.”
“Oh, no, honey, not at all. It was my pleasure.”
“You’re really good to me.”
“All part of the job, lovebug.”
The nicknames you continually gave Gardner were a habit of yours with practically everyone you met. Honey, hon, and sweetheart were you go-to’s, so where the hell did lovebug come from?
~
Calvin had written a note that told you that dinner had been done for a while, and he had plans to go out that night, so he put portions for each of you in the refrigerator. You did not mind, and Gardner suggested that you eat in his boat so you two can tell each other work stories. You loved the idea, so you wheeled Gardner outside to the boat and carefully got him inside using his crutches. Once you got him situated at the small table inside, you told him that you would be back in ten minutes with dinner for two, courtesy of Calvin. You ruffled his now almost completely dry hair one more time and made a beeline for the kitchen, where you were pleasantly surprised to find some homemade pizza slices. While you were heating up your dinner, Gardner noticed a note on the table of the boat, left by Calvin.
“G, I heard you making those sweet sounds in the bathroom. I told you I knew you thought she was cute. Make a move, brother! -C”
Gardner flushed with embarrassment, ripping the note to shreds so that you would never see it, despite the fact that one could argue actually hearing the sounds he made was worse than reading the note. It did not matter. He had to just think of you as his nurse. Nothing more. despite how hard that was becoming. As if on cue, he heard the hatch of the boat open and the smell of fresh, warm pizza entered the boat.
“Ready to eat and gossip, Gardner?”
“Yes ma’am.”
While the two of you ate your dinner, you told Gardner a bunch of stories relating to all the quirky patients you encountered through the years, including the man with the pleasurable plant. It made Gardner laugh so hard that he almost choked on his pizza, earning even harder laughs from both of you when he could breath properly again. Gardner told you the small bits of gossip about the people on his route that he could gather from their mail, and showed you his stamp collection. You hung on to every single word he said about it, which made the feelings he was trying to subdue hit him full force on the head, because no one ever really cared about his stamps. Not before you. Before you knew it, it was almost time for you to ‘clock-out,’ so to speak, from helping Gardner for the day. You took everything back into the kitchen and washed the few dishes really quick to help Calvin out, then made your way back to the boat. You half expected sleepy Gardner to make a full return and him already be passed out by the time that you got back, but to your surprise, he was sitting straight up against the makeshift headboard, which was really just a wall, of his bed. Looking like he was thinking hard about something.
“Lovebug, you oka—”
“Would you spend the night?”
You were positive your jaw hit the floor.
“Sorry, I’m sorry. That was… completely uncalled for. You can leave, I’m good. I can make it to the bathroom on my own and –”
“If you want me to stay the night, I will.”
“Really?”
“Mhm. I might just need to borrow your clothes, and I would need to run home and grab some stuff. I only live a few blocks over, wouldn’t take more than fifteen minutes.”
“Can I ride with you?”
“You sure can, hon. C’mon…”
You lugged Gardner in his pajamas back outside and into your car, and he waited patiently while you gathered what you needed. Once you were back in the boat, you helped Gardner settle back into bed, while you got ready for the night. Despite going home, you were insistent that the least he could do was let you borrow one of his old tee shirts, so you would have less laundry to do the next day. He did not mind, and tossed you an older, worn shirt. You crawled into bed with him, not even considering the couch as an option, and laid down right beside your boy, eyes fluttering shut at the warmth spreading throughout the bed.
“Y/N?”
“Yes, hon?”
“Can you make me a promise?”
“Depends. What’s the promise?”
“That once this cast is off we can still be friends. Hang out like this.”
“Gardner?”
“Yeah?”
“I’ll make a vow to remain this close to you for the rest of my life.”
~
Eight weeks had flown by, each day following the same pattern, just the way Gardner liked to live his life. Back at the hospital, Gardner had his final x-ray and was allowed to have his cast removed. He made sure that you were present, because frankly, the little saw scared him. But all went well, and you helped Gardner stand for the first time on his noodley leg. It had lost most of the muscle from all the walking he did, but the doctor reminded him that it would come right back as he continued to use it. He remembered the vow you made him, and as you were walking him and Calvin back to their car, he had a smug face adorning his features.
“Why so giddy, lovebug?”
“I think my leg is going to be pretty weak for the first couple days, and the doctor told me you don’t work tomorrow.”
You could see where he was going with this, and you were completely fine with it.
“Seeing as that you are no longer my personal nurse, I would love to know if you would care to join me on my route tomorrow, Y/N?”
“I did make a vow, didn’t I?”
“One I plan on making you keep one way or another.”
“It’s a date, Gardner.”
Meanwhile, Calvin was staring at you two with the happiest of expressions, which quickly turned sour.
“Hey! Why can Gardner get the girl but I can’t? Hmpf. Well, at least you two are sickeningly cute.”

It’s quiet, too quiet to be exact. Normally, John annoyed the junior deputy at least once or twice a week and talked about wanting to save her and the only thing she needed to do was confess her sins and atone, then she would be welcome in the new Eden. For a few weeks, however, it's quiet, even the attacks in Holland Valley have become less and that's unusual. It's also a week since John was last seen, which was also very unusual.
So, what does a dedicated young deputy do? Right, she finds out what’s going on.
The valley ride had never been so quiet since arriving here, only a few Peggies were patrolling the patrols, but they quickly disappeared when they realized who was at the wheel. She frowned at this and watched them in the rearview mirror to see what they would do, which was surprisingly nothing at all.
“What the hell?” She murmured and continued in high alert towards John’s Ranch. Could it be possible she went straight into a trap? Just to be on the safe side, she grabbed her radio to inform Mary May of her plan. “Uh ... Mary? just wanted to let you know that I’m on my way to the Seed Ranch. Something is not right; it’s too quiet and I want to find out what’s going on.” For a few seconds it was quiet before her radio made a noise and Mary answered.
“Do you think that’s a good idea? Maybe you should take someone with you. Sharky and Hurk are here, I can ask them to meet you there.” She scrunched her face at that. She loved these guys with their whole being, but they were hardly the right people for such a mission.
“Thanks, Mary, but I better do it alone. Besides, I have to sneak and that’s something these two are terrible at. If I need rocket launcher and flamethrower, I will contact you again.” “Fine, just try to not do anything stupid, ok?” Rook grinned and rolled her eyes.
Since she arrived, the bar owner was like a mother to her. She always had some advice and was the first to give a lecture to Rook for stupid activities. The worst part was when she had that typical Mum voice and told her how foolish and dangerous her last mission was.
A thought occurred to her. Maybe she should try to contact John? After all, there was the possibility that he would answer, he had already done so before, so why not today? Rook picked up the radio she’d previously put in the passenger seat, switched on another channel and held it to her mouth. “Hey John, are you there?” She waited a while before she tried again. “Jooohhhnnn?” she tried it with a sing-song voice, without success. “Come on, Johnny. I haven’t heard from you for so long. I’m starting to worry.”
Again, no answer. That was weird, especially considering how much John likes to talk. She did not like admitting it but she actually started to worry. She had become so accustomed to his voice; it was strange to not hear from him for a while. Rook threw the radio back on the seat and increased the speed with which she drove, something was definitely wrong.
She parked her old truck away from the ranch, grabbed her radio and gun, and got out to walk the last few meters. Some Peggies guarded the gate, but Rook easily beat them unconscious and sneaked to the front door of the house. She could neither see nor hear anyone and took the stairs to the upper floor. At the top, a Peggie came out of one of the rooms with a mug in his hand, and Rook knocked him out with the handle of her weapon before he could alert or attack anyone.
She put her ear to the door from which he came out and tried to hear if anyone was inside. She heard someone coughing followed by a soft curse. Rook frowned and waited a moment before grabbing the door handle and slowly opening the door, her pistol still in her hand. When it was open, Rook hardly believed what she saw and stood motionless in the door frame. Surrounded by crumpled tissues lay a sniffling John with a red nose and black rings under his eyes. “You’re kidding me.” Rook said, lowering her gun.
“I thought you planned something diabolical and in truth you’re just sick? Really?” To be honest, she felt stupid. She had honestly expected a master plan, not a sick man in bed waiting for someone to serve him a cup of tea. The Deputy’s sudden presence didn’t disturb John, and he only looked annoyed at her.
He looked like a five-year-old boy who’s forbidden to eat sweets, with arms folded over his chest and a pouting expression on his face. “Henry was just getting me tea before you knocked him out.”
Rook frowned and looked at him disbelievingly. Was he serious? The only thing that bothered him was that he doesn’t get tea? “Come on, John. I just broke into your house and knocked your guards out and you complain about your tea?”
“Yeah, doesn't matter if you kill me now. It won’t take long until I’m dead anyway.” Rook raised an eyebrow at him and cocked her head to the side.
“You have only caught a cold. Keep calm.”
Walking toward John's bed, she glanced around the room and into the open Wardrobe. Everything inside of it looked ridiculous expensive, probably Gucci or Louis Vuitton or something like this. She stroked one of the fabrics with her fingers before turning around to face John again. Even his sheets were silk, for fuck's sake!
“I´m not sick. I´m dying.” As if to proof his point, John started coughing and sniffling, reaching on his bedside table for another tissue. He dropped his head back onto his pillow with his arm over his eyes and sighed dramatically. Rook only rolled her eyes at him before taking a seat at the edge of his bed, poking him with her gun to get his attention. “You are way too dramatic, Seed. You will be fine in a few days.” John peeked at her from under his hand as a small smile tugged at his lips.
“Are you going to take care of me, Deputy? It's your duty to take care of people, isn´t it?” For a moment, she blankly stared at him. Why did he have to do this all the time? He always turned her words against her and it annoyed Rook to no end.
“You wish.”
A full-grown smirk took place on his face, which angered her even more. “I do.” He winked at her and was about to make a stupid remark as another coughing fit hit him. Rook scrunched her face in disgust and leaned back to create more space between them. The last thing she needed right now was for John to infect her too.
“Well, now that you are already here would you be so kind and bring me a glass of water?” Innocence was written all over his face when he asked this and if she didn´t know better Rook would believe that he was just an ordinary sick man. But he was John.
Squinting her eyes at him, she sighed heavy and took the empty glass to fill it in the bathroom, returning it to him when she came back. “Don´t get used to it. I’m not your maid.”
He only smiled over the rim of his glass as she, once again, sat on the edge of his bed. “Now tell me what´s going. It's too quiet. I don´t like it.” Now it was his time to raise his eyebrow at her.
“You don´t like the peace? That’s new.”
“Oh, it's not the peace that bothers me. it's the possibility you and your family plan something big.” John licked his dry lips and adjusted his position in bed into a more sitting one. “Well, maybe I´m just tired of war?” He had a serious expression on his face and watched confused how Rook snorted disbelieving.
Of course, she didn’t believe him. “I know you don´t believe me, but I use my bed rest not only as a break for me but also as a break for the war we have. And I know you won’t believe me when I say that I don´t do all this because I enjoy it. It’s about being prepared for whatever happens, so we’re welcome in the new Eden.”
Astonished, she just looked at him. She didn’t expect him to say something like this. He didn´t enjoy what he did? It sure as hell looked like it when he carved her flesh and almost drowned her!
“If you don´t enjoy it and want these things to end then why don´t you do something about it? There are ways besides killing and destroying. They are your brothers; they will listen to you!” A million thoughts run through her head; John could be the solution for this mess! Now that he admitted these things Rook needed to convince him to do the right thing and help her end all this.
“I don’t know if they will listen to me, and even if they do; I don´t think they will just lay down their weapons and pretend nothing ever happened. And your friends won’t either.” He got a point. After all that happened, it is very unlikely that the people of the resistance just go back to their everyday lives.
“Maybe we can work out a deal. A peace contract or something like this.” Could this work? Can´t hurt to try; If everyone agrees it could be a new beginning without this endless fight. John pondered for a moment. His brothers were reasonable people and at least Joseph would probably listen to what he had to say.
“We should try. I will talk to them in the next few days and you should do the same with your people. We can meet here again in about a week.” A hopeful smile broke onto Rook’s face and made her eyes glint as she nodded approving at him. “Sounds good, I´m in.”
John returned her smile and reached for a bottle on his bedside table. He took the glass from which he had previously drunk water and poured something from the mysterious bottle into it before he gave it to Rook. Skeptically, Rook took the bottle and started to laugh as she read what was written on it.
“Cough Syrup?” He grinned boyishly at her and shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t have any alcohol but we have to toast, don´t we?” Rook giggled and raised the bottle, as he did with his glass, before she took a sip and sealed the deal.

Red Alert 2 Installer Free Download Utorrent
With the same multiplayer capabilities as Red Alert 2, all that Yuri's Revenge does for you is to add a third combatant, Yuri's Forces, and a few extra units for the Allies and the Soviets. Graphics Always an unfortunate element of Westwood's Command & Conquer games, the graphics in Red Alert 2 are very similar. Command & Conquer Red Alert 2: The real-time strategy classic - for free!
Red Alert 2 Game Installer, free red alert 2 game installer software downloads. I want to know if there's a Red Alert 2 Installer that is free even this website it does have it but it just download there Yuri Revenge one but it still ask me to get Red Alert 2 The Red Alert 2 & Yuri's Revenge downloads from our site are both the same. There is an RA2 mode you can enable in the CnCNet client. Download Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 + Yuri’s Revenge Free, In Command and Conquer: Yuri’s Revenge, the story starts off assuming that the Allies were victorious in Red Alert 2. The game begins with the White House announcing DEFCON 2 status, as Yuri, the former head of the Soviet Psychic Corps, plans to take over of the world through.
Considering all the delays, hype and disappointment that surrounded last year's release of Command & Conquer sequel TiberianSun, Red Alert 2 has, in comparison, had a rather quiet time of it. Its announcement in May took many by surprise (including us) and now it seems barely has the marketing machine had time to get into first gear than the game has been finished, packaged and readied for release.
Consequently, thanks in no small part to the worldwide panning of Tiberian Sun, expectation for Westwood's new real-time strategy game has been only marginally higher than that we would reserve for a decent English summer. To its credit, developer Westwood has neither proclaimed Red Alert 2 be ground-breaking nor Earth-shattering and, after the tragic anti-climax that wasTiberian Sun, we wouldn't have believed them if they had.
Using an enhanced -unnoticeably so - version of the Tiberian Sun game engine and sporting many gameplay features and units from a four-year-old game, Red Alert 2 could be seen as a glorified remake of its predecessor. Westwood has done the same thing before, with Dune 2000 - the botched up remake of real-time strategy's most influential game - so it wouldn't be beneath them to do the same again.
Now before you all start sending me death threats for my cynical indifference, let me just say if I hadn't been so pessimistic before playing the game, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did.Think about it - and be honest - what are your expectations for the next Star Wars game? I'd wager not too high after having wasted your money on Force Commander. But because we are all Star Wars fans, or at least we should be, there is the hope that the next one will be brilliant. However, in Red Alert 2s case I wasn't hoping for much at all. You'd do well to think the same, for if you do, I guarantee you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Heroes And Villains
When you review a game - or at least when I do - one essential technique is to jot down pages of notes while you're playing, so when it comes to writing the review, you can refer back to them. Normally what is written down, though illegible, makes some sort of sense, but one of the last things I wrote was 'missions good. Nothing special. Addictive'. I am at a loss as to what I was on about, but I can tell you this: the missions in themselves are pretty undemanding, yet taken as a whole (and separated by a story that sees the USA being invaded) the two campaigns on offer (you can play as Allies or Soviets) are very engaging.
As is par for the course, you build a base, harvest ore, expand your borders and kill the unending trickle of enemy units until you overrun their base, all with scant regard for tactics - been there done that, we all have. With that in mind, what has been baffling me is why I enjoyed Red Alert 2 so much and yet could not derive any pleasure from Tiberian Sun. Both games are practically identical in structure, offering similar units to play with across a linear series of missions, liberally interspersed with high-quality video sequences. The only answer I can offer is a subtle difference in feel and mood. Where Tiberian Sun was a dark and faintly absurd yarn full of square-jawed heroes and boo-hiss villains, Red Alert anti its illustrious predecessor are somehow believable, despite being even more outlandish.
Graphically, Red Alert 2 is far from great. The animation for some of the larger units, ships especially, is juddery and the explosions are hardly spectacular. However, bearing bright colours and full of tiny details - like baseball and football pitches, fast food bars and houses - many levels are full of civilian life that have little impact on the game, but add a touch of fun to the proceedings. Sunbathers run half-naked on the beaches and cattle make themselves targets for your restless attack dogs on the farms. Elsewhere, across maps frozen with ice, all the buildings are draped with snow as if to fool us that they had been there forever. They haven't of course, but it's seemingly insignificant details like this that add a bit of colour to our interminably dull lives.

In regard to the two sides you can choose to play, both are as distinct as any you'll find in a real-time strategy game. One of Westwood's strengths is that it always offers two very different challenges in all its strategy games, by throwing in units and buildings that look and play to different styles. Many of the units are standard fare with infantry and tanks in abundance, but there are a number of clever differences between even those.
Soviet conscripts are both cheap and weak, American GIs are marginally more expensive and can be deployed in a defensive role, able to fortify themselves in an instant within a cocoon of sandbags.
The Allied Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) is another interesting unit. Alone it is a weak reconnaissance tank, armed with a simple rocket launcher. But put a Gl inside and its turret becomes a powerful anti-personnel platform. With an engineer at the controls it alters into a mobile repair vehicle and there are other transformations that can be achieved by trying out other, more potent infantry units inside.Things like Rocket Launchers, Tech Yards and Gap Generators we've seen before, but many units, both old and new, can combine in interesting ways.
Place some Tesla Troopers with their electrifying weapons around a static Tesla Coil and they'll boost the power of it and keep it charged even when the power is down during an enemy attack. As in all RTS games, both sides' infantry units are easily overrun, even in large numbers, but this time around they can find shelter in many of the neutral buildings that pepper the levels. It's a feature that is long overdue in a Westwood game (Age Of Empires IIanti the soon-to-be-released WWII RTS Sudden Strike both offer the same option) and although not every building can be captured, certain ones that are can be a powerful complement to your base by creating chokepoints through which a lightly armed enemy can quickly perish.
Furthermore, there are four neutral Tech Buildings that can be procured - Airports, Hospitals, Outposts and Oil Derricks - all of which can support and replenish units that might otherwise have to make a long journey back to base.
The Soviets are still the side of cheap mass-produced technology, underhand and willing to sacrifice numbers for victory. In contrast, the Allies rely on fast, high-tech units that are more adaptable, yet weaker if left in a sustained fight with Soviet units of similar role.
One aspect in which Red Alert always won out over CSC was its use of naval units. And once again, Red Alert 2 gives the Soviet side a greater underwater navy, while the Allied fleet is predominantly surface-based with Destroyers, Cruisers and Aircraft Carriers going against the Russian Typhoon Subs and Giant Squids.
Trained animals play a larger role in this sequel than they did in the original Red Alert. The Allies now have attack dogs, as do the Russians, and against the Squids the forces of good rely on herds (or pods if you want to be technical) of clicking dolphins and their sonar attack.
Bring Your Friends
Even though the storyline and the level-by-level feed of new technologies are enough to keep you entertained throughout the two campaigns - and there is always the option of the skirmish game - there comes a time when the war will be over against the computer and the time will come to take on a human opponent.
We won't even pretend that we have played Red Alert 2 online yet, no servers are running anyway, but we did play over a LAN and, thanks to the diversity in units and the immediate familiarity of all of Westwood's games, playing against a real opponent was tremendous fun. In multiplayer or skirmish games you not only have to pledge allegiance to the Allied or Soviet sides, you have to choose an army from a particular country, each of which have a particular special unit they can use: Germany has tank destroyers; Libya has demolition trucks; Cuba has terrorists; the US has paratroopers; and Britain has snipers. Not a deal-clincher, as Steve Hill would say, but fun all the same.
As was the case in CSC, Red Alert, Ttberian Sun and now this, multiplayer games are all about throwing forces (onward to eat away at the opponent's defences. As you do so you are constantly thinking about what concoction of forces to send in next and while you leave your units to get on with it, you're cooking up another batch to send in. Westwood has never made strategy a priority in its games and here, too, the multiplayer game is about a slow pace of play that always ends up in spectacular fashion with entire bases wiped away by just one weapon. This - what we might term the railgun factor' -makes each game a race to build the most devastating weapon available rather than a plod through attack, counterattack and stalemate.
The Bit At The End

About as ground-breaking as Windows 98 is to Windows 95, Red Alert 2 is no less essential for it. The interface has certainly improved since Tlberian Sun and the missions, varied and interesting, are carried along by a storyline that doesn't take itself nearly as seriously as other CSC games - for every cheesy line of dialogue, there's a knowing smile behind.
Remarkably well-rounded, the phrase 'more than the sum of its parts' could easily have been written with Red Alert 2 in mind. Unspectacular graphics, an AI that is clearly artificial and with little in the way of true innovation, Red Alert 2 is, nevertheless, an excellent game, well-designed and carried through with wit and style. In these times where realism is de rigueur, Red Alert 2 feels like a breath of fresh air.Just remember not to expect too much and you'll be as impressed as we were.
Back To The Future
Red Alert, the story so far...
In theory it's a good plan, but the greatest theorist of them all failed to realise the implications of his actions. After developing a timetravelling device in post-war America, Albert Einstein returns to 1923 to wipe Hitler from the history books. Unchecked by Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, lead by Joseph 'Madboy' Stalin, embarks on a European crusade to turn our continent a nasty shade of red.
Defeated by an uncharacteristic display of unity, Stalin is killed by European Allied forces and Premier Romanov takes over Soviet control. Seemingly compliant and peaceful, he is of course quite mad and plotting his revenge against the Allies, he decides that America is ripe for invasion. Using mind control technology, the USSR sabotages America's nuclear capability and a huge invasion is launched into New Mexico, Texas and California. Which is where you come in to save the day.

Okay, but even if everything you say is true, then why in the 19 years after Anakin became Vader, did neither Obi Wan nor Yoda ever think to go face this guy and kill him themselves? Don’t say, “Oh, because the prophecy of the force said that they had to wait for Vaderkin’s son to become a Jedi to defeat him” because that is bs. Even if their options and support was limited, Yoda and Obi Wan still had better choices here. It’s like saying Anakin’s not responsible for his crimes because, no matter what he did, the outcomes and options he had were always between shit and shittier, he was an addict, he had been groomed to be a weapon/slave to abusive and oppressive authority figures his whole life, he was significantly weakened after getting burned up, and he had obvious signs of mental illness. No, he had better options, in spite of the outcome always being high risk, uncertain, and shitty, he knew he was wrong deep down in his gut all along, but he was too afraid, too self-loathing, and too unsure of his own moral compass to stick up for himself.
It’s the same thing for Obi Wan, Yoda, and the Council. They could have refused to allow a 9-12 year old Anakin to speak alone with Palpatine when the guy pulled rank, but they didn’t because they were too afraid to say no. The Order, including Anakin eventually, could have stood up to the Republic and insisted that the slaves on the outer rims deserved to be freed and cared for, but they didn’t because they were too afraid to say no. Obi Wan could have faced Anakin himself on Mustafar without dragging Padme into the line of fire as bait to lure Anakin into a trap when he knew was clearly out of his mind at that point . He could have tried talking to Anakin, rather than immediately deciding to kill Anakin after he fell like his gut told him to rather than obeying Yoda, but he didn’t because he was too afraid to say no . He could have given Anakin a quick and immediate death penalty on Mustafar when he “got the high ground” and Anakin did that flip, but he didn’t because he was too afraid and too angry to do the right thing, so he cut off his limbs and left him to a fate far worse than death of being burned alive. Then, over the next 19 years, he and Yoda had the option to go face off Vader themselves anytime, but they didn’t because they were too afraid to face the monster their broken system contributed to creating.
There are certainly valid reasons to hate Anakin/Vader, there were certainly valid reasons for Luke to kill him, but I think the point of Star Wars in GL canon is that it’s very difficult to stand up for what you believe in and say no under pressure with shitty circumstances and limited options for escape and support from the oppression, abuse, hatred, and toxicity around you. However, you still have the option to be brave enough to be honest, kind, loving, trusting, and true to your best self, regardless of all that against you, and that is what breaks the cycle of abuse, cowardice, hate, and war crimes.
Hello I've read some of your Star Wars content and like it a lot. Might need to give you a follow actually. Anyway I just wanted to ask you about an idea I've seen circulating in fandom that Obi Wan Kenobi "knew " Luke would save his father, and was even planning for this to happen. This is posited as an explanation for why he didn't kill Vader in ANH and why he encouraged Luke to "face" him in ROTJ. It doesn't seem credible to me, but what's your answer to this? Thanks.
I’m glad you like my stuff. I don’t post much Star Wars these days, but feel free to follow me for all the random other stuff I’ve been posting.
As for Obi-Wan “knowing” Luke would save Vader, I call B.S. Obi-Wan, like Yoda, firmly believed that there is no path back from the Dark Side. He went to Mustafar to kill Anakin and failed. The reason he didn’t fight harder in ANH is because he a) wasn’t physically up for the fight, b) wasn’t emotionally up for the fight, c) had been suicidal for a good long while, d) thought he could do more good as a Force ghost, and e) figured his death would help give Luke the necessary push to kill Anakin. He looked over at Luke and smirked before throwing the fight. This was after telling Luke that Vader murdered his dad. Obi-Wan deliberately got himself killed in order to further the agenda of having Luke kill Vader. He then straight up told Luke to kill Vader, gaslit him about the fact that he’d lied about Anakin, and did everything in his power to encourage Luke to commit unintentional patricide.
Obi-Wan is a lot of people’s favorite character. I get that. Ewan McGregor’s cool, Alec Guinness is cool, and the character they portrayed is deeply compelling. People want their favorite characters to be right and awesome, but the truth of the matter is, Obi-Wan is a deeply flawed person who consistently failed to understand both Luke and Anakin. He, like all original flavor Jedi, believed the only cure for the Dark Side was death. He also felt deeply, personally betrayed by Anakin, but loved him too much to actually strike the killing blow. If leaving him to burn wasn’t going to do the trick, setting up his powerfully Force-sensitive kid to kill him would. That was the plan. That was his plan, that was Yoda’s plan. It just wasn’t Luke’s plan and that’s why he is the hero of the Original Trilogy, and Obi-Wan is a tragic figure left over from the Prequels.
#anakin skywalker#darth vader#star wars prequels#ot star wars#obi wan critical#yoda critical#sure you can hate Anakin if you want. that is valid but admit that obi wan and Yoda were too afraid to do what was right too

Role-reversal?
Okay, so a lot of peeps from IF suggested me to check out the role-reversal thingy today, and I myself, was slightly curious as to how its gonna work out. So, well just to check out their acting, I watched parts of the episode. Of course, as usual Surbhi and Nakuul got a hella lot more screentime, in which Surbhi showed that she can act, while Nakuul displayed that he’s the worst in the IB cast. But anyways, heres what I thought of all them below:
Surbhi: Since, I've seen IB from the beginning, I'm pretty impressed with Surbhi. After Shrenu, she's my fav among the IB cast. I can actually close my eyes and imagine Annika's expression to anything. So, in my unbiased opinion, let me just say I was not impressed today.
Surbhi was playing Annika only today, there was not a trace of Bhavya in here. But here actually its not Surbhi's fault. The writers have not really given Bhavya a personality. There is nothing distinctive about Bhavya's personality apart from her career. For example, Annika does not talk about catering all the time, or Gauri does not talk about stitching clothes all the time. What does Bhavya have as a personality trait that distinguishes her from someone? Not much.
Therefore, Surbhi had to imitate Mansi instead of Bhavya, copying the cop dialogues. And er, I dunno, I felt she caricatured Mansi. She got the voice right but they way she executed the whole thing, looked like she is making fun of Mansi's acting. Its not a nice thing to do. I felt this was really catty. Mansi: Er, Gauri's character itself, is pretty difficult to play. Upar se the writer chose wrong dialogues. Thats not what Gauri would say in such a situation. She would encourage Annika but subtly laugh too. Not talk about Shankarji in helping her become GL.
Khair, Mansi could not get the lingo right, but she tried hard. From whatever, I've seen of Mansi's acting, it was a good attempt. She was still looking like Bhavya playing a role, but she did try. And it was not bad. Kunal: Coming to Kunal, I think Kunal was playing out the character of Shivaay, and not imitating Nakuul. What makes Shivaay? His tadi, attitude and arrogance. The way Kunal told the pizza girl to keep the change and get lost, was how the character of Shivaay would have done. It was in stark contrast to Omkara, who talks politely to everyone (except Gauri ).
I really felt Kunal could grasp the character of Shivaay. But he did not imitate Nakuul, 'cos I couldn't see Nakuul in his expressions at all, even though he tried to do that thing that Nakuul does with his eyes, with one eye shut slightly, when he is showing tadi.
Kunal was a nice Shivaay, but he wasn't the Nakuul version of Shivaay. Shrenu: Shrenu, I felt was the best. She got both the things correct, she could grasp Annika's character also and Surbhi's mannerisms. Along the way, she also kept the Gauri in her intact. Because she would pause before saying the dialogues since this is the first time that Gauri is imitating Annika.
Shrenu's expression when she threw water at Om/Shivaay was almost similar to the expression that Surbhi gives. The dialogue delivery on the whole GL conversation was exactly like Surbhi/Annika.
Also, one reason why it was easy for her to imitate both Surbhi/Annika is because Surbhi plays the role of Annika so well that one cannot differentiate between Surbhi and Annika.
I felt Shrenu really got Annika the best, especially, the way Annika says 'Shivaay' after messing up.
(But I also felt that the editors really fast forwarded the whole group scene. I just could not enjoy it properly. ) Leenesh: Lee is my fav in comedy scenes. Because whatever happens Rudy is always in character.
We should never forget that Rudy loves to troll Om. So, even when he is pretending to be Omkara he is trolling Om with his shayari and fake intensity. This is not to say that Leenesh did a bad job as Omkara.
Leenesh was fine as Omkara, its just that he did a better job as Rudy pretending to be Omkara. Nakuul: Nakuul, I felt, was the worst today. Neither was he Rudy nor Leenesh. He could not imitate either of them. In fact, he kinda trolled Rudy, the way he walked. When Rudy/Om said "Main kya aisa karta hu?" even I was agreeing with him. I mean, seriously, Rudy does not act like that. (I think Nakuul and Surbhi successfully caricatured Leenesh and Mansi. I really dunno how Leenesh and Mansi felt about this. I mean, I would be pretty upset if people I thought were my friends took the mickey outta my acting skills on national television).

It Devours! liveblog 2
Part 1 here
And we’re back with chapters 11-15! We return to a familiar theme: a giant hole in the ground.
It’s still Big Rico’s D:
This is a really clever way to frame this, although I don't think the Kids These Days with their Fancy Thinking Machines should get all the blame. Your brain simply can't adjust to huge, paradigm-shifting events like tragedies that quickly. There's always that feeling of unreality, where you literally can't believe what just happened, even when you've witnessed it yourself.
I assume the movie being projected on the worms is Squirm.
We cut to reactions to the Big Rico’s Disaster from various people, some of whom we met, some of whom are the Queen of Air and Darkness, and some of whom we’ve never seen before and will never see again.
WHAT?! They DID NOT just retcon the end of "Lost in the Mail". WTF. You will pry Basimah's dad coming back and trying to stop the Blood Space War out of my cold dead keyboard!
Alternatively, this book takes place before episode 79 ("Lost in the Mail”) but after episode 100 ("Toast", because Cecil and Carlos are ~totes married~) and time isn't real.
I hate to tell you, Basimah, but if you're afraid of your house disappearing by sinking into the ground (or, for example, getting buried in mud or swept away by water or burnt down) you should pick literally any other state in the union before California.
Nils once again heads back out to Larry Leroy under the edge of town. One of his dioramas has survived!
But everything changed when the Land of Oz attacked.
Nils starts talking to one of the angels at Old Woman Josie’s; it’s unclear as to whether Old Woman Josie is still with us.
On the contrary: as a woman in a male-dominated field, I guarantee you that Nilanjana knows EXACTLY what it feels like to have people assume you don't exist.
Anyways, in pointless chronology news this means this book takes place before episode 79, after episode 100, AND before episode 110 ("Matryoshka") when angels finally get acknowledged. Time: still not real.
Nils talks to Josh Crayton (hi Josh!) who had been working part time at Big Rico’s to supplement his clothing budget (being a shapeshifter is tough). Going off his tip, she decides to track down Big Rico’s brother, Arnie, who is a POSTAL WORKER because we don’t pointlessly gender jobs if we can help it, NIGHT VALE.
NEITHER RAIN NOR SNOW NOR GL OM OF NI T CAN STAY THESE MES ENGERS ABO T THEIR DUTY
Don't arsk us about:
Rocks
Troll's with sticks
All sorts of dragons
Mrs Cake
Huje green things with teeth
Any kinds of black dogs with orange eyebrows
Rains of spaniel's
Fog
Mrs Cake
Arnie reveals that Rico was actually named Richie, they’re Jewish, and that his brother was just generally a weird and alarming person:
I love how in Night Vale, someone just might have a basement full of red herrings (literal or metaphorical) and you're like "yeah, fair enough".
Then it’s time for DATE NIGHT at Tourniquet!
SWIPE LEFT FOR EXISTENTIAL EMPTINESS
I love everyone in this bar
Nils and Darryl bond over their families: Darryl getting taken in by the JoyCon (who are WAY more familial than his distant parents) and Nils watching the Mars Rover landing with her mom when she was ten. (It’s probably Sojourner in 1997, although it could have been Spirit or Opportunity in 2004 if she was a child prodigy who fast-tracked through college and also, time isn’t real.)
They’re really hitting it off, even chatting about my favorite and Darryl’s least favorite topic:
1) i like Nils’ philosophy
2) lol
haha NERDS
So, apparently the night is going REALLY well:
BOW CHICKA BOW BOW
Seriously though, while I'm glad Night Vale is into informed consent (EXTREMELY informed consent) this sounds like an introverted/socially anxious NIGHTMARE. you have to inform ALL THESE PEOPLE about your extremely private plans? and MAKE APPOINTMENTS?? i don't even like calling my dentist to set up my check-up and i've known him since i was four.
Fortunately, Nils and Darryl don’t mind. All night long.
hahahaha Jackie
She’s 25 now, btw! She skipped a couple years.
Is saying ominous lines from Twilight Zone episodes a parental requirement in Night Vale or did Lucinda fuck something up but good
Speaking of which: Jackie’s dating Sam the Sheriff??? Jackie, you can do so much better. When you said you were dating a government official, I thought you meant Dana.
There’s a slight wrinkle in Nils and Darryl’s potential relationship, too: Darryl is the Wordsmith! dun dun DUN
Nils is filled with doubt and confusion, because Darryl is exactly awkward enough that he very well COULD just be a pamphlet writer who accidentally informed against Carlos to City Council. Normally you just have to figure out how quickly you should be texting back your date mate the morning after, not whether he’s some sinister mastermind.
(It could go either way? On the one hand, Darryl seems earnest and not evil. On the other, Helo is right: you are kinda creepy dude.)
She blurts out the whole thing to Carlos, who is presumably used to having dirty laundry aired in public, lol.
#sciencefacts, Nils and Carlos are SUPER cute. He just wants her to be happy! We get his POV on Cecil!
CUTE OVERLOAD
Anyway, they also discuss the Science. I’m still not ruling out a Phantom Tollbooth crossover, as here we see Nils leaping to Conclusions:
YOU GOTTA RULE OUT THE CREATURE MOVING UNDERGROUND FIRST

""Could $5,000 cover the healthcare insurance premium for a family?""
If McCain's credit becomes reality, doesn't it seem logical that a major healthcare provider would put together an affordable health insurance package for the credit amount and market the heck out of it? Obviously, it won't have all the bells and whistles, but people would be covered. There is the issue of the tax on the premium, but it still seems like a good idea. This link was interesting - it describes both plans clearly: http://money.cnn.com/2008/03/10/news/economy/tully_healthcare.fortune/""

Will insurance cover damages caused by DUI crash?
I was leaving a parking lot, left too fast, and I fishtailed into a parked car (no one was in the parked car and I was not injured). When I pulled over and got out, a police officer who was a block away immediately asked if I was drinking. I was and admitted it. I was administered a field sobriety test and later a breathalyzer. I blew a 1.1 and was booked for OWI. I called my insurance company about the crash to get the claim started, but did not mention the arrest since they did not ask...but I know this will come up. I have full coverage...so will the insurance cover damages to my car and the other car?""
Will my auto insurance go up?
I am a California San Diego resident. Four days ago, it was raining very heavily and I was driving a carpool lane on the freeway at about 60-65mph. All of a sudden my car hydroplaned and spinned 360 degrees about 3times and then it finally stopped when my car's rear crashed into the concrete median. FORTUNATELY, it was 4am and this accident did not involve anyone else. I had to leave the place like nothing had happened, because I was on my way to the airport. When I arrived at the airport I looked at my car's rear and the bumper and trunk was heavily damaged. Now, I am in a foreign country enjoying my vacation. My questions are following: (1) Will my insurance go up if I report this accident to my auto insurance? I have a full coverage. (2) Will I be in problem if I report this accident when it has been 4days? I really had no time until now because I had to fly and then settle a problem over here in Asia. Any thoughts/opinions are very welcome! Thank yoU!""

Around how much does insurance cost for a sports car?
Hello I am looking to buy a 2007 mustang but my dad is telling me it's a bad idea because insurance is going to be too high. The mustang I'm looking at costs 9,989 and I plan to leave a 1000$ down payment and just pay monthly. I need a new car because I have been driving my 2000 Jetta 5 years and every year it has broken down on me at least 3 times! And last Friday I'm hoping it broke down on me for the last time. I need a new car. I only pay 35 for insurance right now I only have liability and I understand that since I am not paying for the mustang up front I'm defiantly going to need full coverage. Im 22 years old and i finally got promoted at work So I want to get something nice for myself. I still cannot afford a brand new car so I am looking to get a decent used car. I fell in love with this mustang & it's not that I can't afford the insurance (I don't even know how much it cost?) but my dad says I should save money and not get a sports car. I'm just not sure how to go about buying a car. My dad pretty much isn't helping me since I'm really interested in this one so I'm alone on this process. can someone please help me out ?""

Help understanding auto insurance settlement and if I need to seek legal help?
My 17 year old son was driving his 2003 Ford Explorer, when he was hit by another vehicle. My son was approaching a stop light and traveling between 3-5 mph....The vehicle that struck him was a company work vehicle. The work truck was pulling out of a parking lot when he hit my son. His estimated speed was also 3-5 mph. There were no injuries at all, and there was no medical treatment sought. This all happened on April 10th 2011. It was found that driver of the work truck was at fault for inattention. Honestly, this guy was super nice and walked my son through the process of calling police etc til I could get there....Now dealing with the Companies insurance carrier has been a headache!!!! here is the basic timeline....Explorer still drivable....Had to wait 10 days for police report....contacted Company that owned work truck, and they forwarded me to their insurance co....Was advised to seek several estimates, and fax them over....Faxed over estimates to adjuster. All estimates exceeded 5k....Stated she would have to contact an adjuster from local area to work this. Local adjuster came out. Estimated damages to be 3300.00. Insurance Company sent me check for 3300.00 and advised me when vehicle repaired, auto shop would need to work with adjuster on any additional repairs and costs. Explorer was in shop 30 days before finally being totaled. Local adjuster was horrible to work with, did not communicate with body shop, etc. I finally contacted the insurance company, and told them I refused to deal wither contracted adjuster etc. Now that the vehicle has been totaled, they don't want to pay what I think is fair. The insurance company wants to settle for $6928 plus $367 for taxes. Clean retail for the Explorer is $8100. This is for my area. I have been car shopping for 2 days straight. can't find anything comparable with the money they gave me etc. I have taken off work to deal with this etc, been going on for 2 months plus, and Iam worn out with it all...All I want is for my kid to be back in a safe reliable vehicle. The insurance company did provide a rental car. I had to drive it, my son had to take my car, my other son had bought our car from us, but can't get it yet, because the other needs it for work school etc....I am so frustrated with the ins ompany""
Israelic terms on health insurance?
I had to redo an experiment by Tykocinski. She researched the impact of certain primes, one of which is health insurance. She did this study in Israel. We replicated this study in the Netherlands, but we found different results and now we need to figure out why. For this reason I would like to know: What is the word for health insurance in Hebrew and Arabic? And how would they translate 1 on 1 with the english language. Example: the Dutch word for health insurance is zorgverzekering, but if I translate the words apart from each other I get either worry insurance or care insurance (depending on the interpretation of the Dutch language) The answer to this question could help me greatly in this research!""

Car Insurance Premium?
I have a car which is insured with company B. I decided to buy a new car and the dealer offered me a 7 days free comprehensive insurance with company C. I put my old car for sale while still under insurance B and on the third day after buying the new car I got into an accident. All accident details and fixes were done with the free 7 days car insurance C. During the process my older car was sold and eventually when I got my new car back from the garage I transferred it to my Insurance B. Now that liability of the accident is dealt with and stayed at 50/50 guilt for both parties, I was advised that my insurance premiums can be affected. My question is will that affect my current insurance B or not? Only insurance C dealt with the accident my insurance B have not paid nothing towards it nor get involved with it. Can my insurance B still go up on renewal due to this accident even under a different insurer?""

La Repubblica interview on Social Media in the Trump Era
Questions from Luciana Grosso (La Repubblica)
Luciana Grosso: What’s next? What is coming after the social network era? What will arrive after this social-mania, if it will ever end?
Geert Lovink: I do not mind to act like a futurologist but I have to disappoint you: we’ll be stuck in this social media age for some time to come. We Europeans failed to develop alternatives. There is no ‘market’ and we all let it happen: crippling monopolies are a fact, we’ve locked ourselves in and now we complain. Unless there’s going to be a global crisis or war, we will not able to free ourselves from the ‘tremendous’ addiction to these real-time apps. I have given up that individuals who make the courageous exodus will make a difference. Boredom or dispear won’t make a difference either; the physical, social and emotional dependency is already too big. We were naive to think that users would move on, as they did from Geocities to Blogger to Friendster to MySpace. Then it stopped at Facebook. Youngsters migrated to Whatsapp and Instagram, but these are owned by the same old Facebook Corp. and are currently being integrated into the same data empire. What’s left is the proposal of a public takeover of platforms (including the datacentre infrastructure). This a political proposal we need to further discuss and put on the table in this year of crucial elections.
For decades European elites deliberately looked away, convinced that the internet was a fad, a fashion that would fade away, and now they have been pushed to the sides. Brussels thought telcos such as Orange and Telefonica, and traditional technology players such as Philips and Siemens would develop alternatives. Nothing happened. Instead, we’re using hardware produced in China with services controlled in the United States. Lately Europeans have woken up and have installed austerity-driven neo-liberal ‘creative industries’ policies that try to foster start-up cultures. Ever since Evgene Morozov we know that techno-solutionism is not the answer. Developing an app is not a solution to overcome platform capitalism. For the social media drama it might already be too late, unless drastic measures are taken that implements anti-trust measures overnight.
LG: In the beginning, Internet was seen as a utopian place where the only rule was ‘no rules’: everyone was free to say and write and read whatever they wanted. Was this in fact the case at the time?
GL: There is no doubt that 1990s internet culture was more wild. But I am not nostalgic. There were far less users. The user base was homogeneous and the interfaces and operating systems didn’t work very well. These days we’re not often confronted anymore with crashing devices. Instead, dysfunctionality has moved to the level of society. The smoothness of today comes with a price. Jaron Lanier often points at the anarchic nature of individual homepages—a far cry from the standardized communication environments of Facebook and Twitter. Why learn Linux or XML anymore as an ordinary user? This overall loss of technical knowledge amongst users has lead to crisis in media literacy. The idea is that we do not need anymore instruction. All platforms are self-evident for a child—and this is what we actually see happening around us. This is also the case of moderation. That’s an art form: how to run a community, to overcome differences and structures debates (without policing them). One of the sources of the problem here is the lack of tools to develop communities. Social media are not built for that, on purpose. They are outward-looking with the aim to connect as much data with other data with the aim to sell the profiles to third parties for advertisement purposes. Everyone knows that social media is an alienating echo chamber and fosters narcissism as a necessary act in the struggle for self promotion. In the end, empowerment is not satisfying. We need a cold restart, from scratch, and build peer-to-peer networks that focus on collaboration and discussion, not just on ‘news’ that ‘shared’ and commented by ‘friends’. This has already been said time and again, but nothing happens. That’s how we got stuck. Many feel that way. That’s the disillusion of the internet, which is no longer a progressive tool nor a parallel reality but an abyss that takes us down further into a state of inequality, fear and hatred.
LG: How did that happen, a place celebrated for freedom becoming so dark, filled with lies, violence and fascism? Is this jungle what freedom looks like?
GL: I have not lost my belief in freedom and subversion. Let’s go back to Erich Fromm’s Fear of Freedom. There is so much fascinating literature that we can read together. Take Hannah Ahrendt, or Isaiah Berlin’s Two Concepts of Liberty. Promote such thinkers and contrast them with the libertarian dogma’s of Ayn Rand that is being promoted so much these days. Which freedom do we want? Many of us have second thoughts when it comes to radical openness. We can’t deal with the ‘open society’ and intuitively search for a ‘New Order’ as Michael Seemann, the Berlin ‘Kontrollverlust’ blogger and author of Digital Tailspin, calls it. What comes after radical transparency? Will we find a new equilibrium after the dust has settled? Do we withdrawal in a new cult of secrecy, as Byung Chul-Han in his Transparency Society proposes? Will we ever get used to the bright light of over-exposure, to put in terms of Jean Baudrillard? I would love to answer your question in an orthodox psycho-analytical way. Why do we want to punish ourselves after a period of excessive communication and radical freedom? How can we escape this vicious circle of orgy and remorse? Where is the psycho-historian Lloyd deMause, now that we need him? Who updates his epic book on Reagan’s America?
LG: Should we be afraid of fake news? Lies and the manipulation of the truth have always been around, ever since the times of Moses. Why is this suddenly a problem?
GL: As you say, fake news has always been core business, it’s was once called ‘manufacturing consent’ or ‘public relations’. As Morozov tweets: “Messing with the media, celebrities, facts, etc does not really get in the way of getting the job done – for Trump, it’s *the* job.” Our problem is the ‘authenticity bonus’ of direct communication. We do not see the social media managers that operate behind their dashboards (as Douglas Rushkoff teaches us). Why the fake news question did not come earlier has got to do with moment in which social media became mainstream. Until recent, the Net was still looked upon as something unknown and new, at best an additional toy. Experts talked about multi-media as if it was some sort of symphony, a media concert in search for harmony between all the different channels. But the liberal ‘multimodality’ view of ‘remediation’ has been blasted away by the directness and real-time of social media.
Now that the introductory period of ‘digitization’ has come to an end, we are exposed to an unprecedented form of acceleration. In the original idea of networked democracy it was assumed that the multiplicity of channels would lead to a greater diversity of voices. This did not materialize and it would be useful to reconstruct where precisely the process derailed. In classic internet fashion, things move fast, and that will also be the case with the fake news meme itself, which will be overruled by even more spectacular propaganda acts, pseudo-events–and historical tragedies.
LG: Is preventive censorship a solution?
GL: In past weeks we see that the ‘perception management’ industry is busy figuring out which ‘anti-missile missiles’ they should invent to calm down the media frenzy. A Minority Report technique to isolate evil behaviour might work on the individual level but is no longer effective once the political upheaval has already started. Facebook is entirely naive as they still believe in filtering of ‘fake news’ by temporary consultancy firms such as Correctiv or Snopes, as if this problem can be solved and will disappear in a few months. There are also fact-checking firms on specific topics such as Ukraine or climate change. The next step is the ‘democratization’ of the meme design workshops, ‘meme sprints’ where multi-disciplinary ‘agile’ teams of designers, coders and ’trolls’ gather to unleash ‘meme wars’–and then disappear: organized networks that take the ideas of Adbusters one step further but shy away from the long-term commitment of the work that is done out of The Agency, a presumed ’troll farm’ office building in St. Petersburg (see also this Guardian article). Not far from here is the NATO observatory in Riga that looks in Russian social media manipulations.
LG: Will our grandchildren read Facebook or The New York Times?
GL: The New York Times, which by then will be owned by Facebook. That would be the Dutch pragmatist answer. The correct one is of course neither of them. The kids will navigate through Uber Entertainment. You must have heard from Alfabet, the mother company of Google, an umbrella structure for mega corporations, which is also likely to happen to Facebook as well. Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, now owns The Washington Post. The new rubber barons are running the largest non-profits in the world (think of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation). Others enter different industries such as space travel. What we need is a new iteration of cyberpunk literature that takes us on a tour through corporate cities owned by Snapchat, Tesla factories that mass manufacture killer robots and the Huawei hacking bunker, a smart internet observatory, masterminded by Chinese hipsters.
