i really love the gen.g members in your LCKverse ! can you please share a few random gen.g headcannons
Thank you so much for the ask! I love them so much too and am always happy to share more about them. For now, here's an assorted handbasket of hcs:
Kiin LOVES dogs, has wanted one ever since he was a little kid, but his parents never let him get one because they said it was too much responsibility. He wants to get one as soon as he retires from pro-gaming and has his own place, and has even pitched the idea of getting a team dog back when he was on KDF, but the idea got shot down. He likes cats, too, but is extremely allergic to them so sadly he has to keep his distance :(
Canyon has a sweet tooth, which may not seem like that big of a deal but for those of you who don't know ShowMaker hates anything sweet or sugary, so Canyon's kept this a secret for years. He may or may not have gotten busted by deokdam while sneaking a caramel from the Dplus dorm stash at 3 am back in '22 but he was fiercely sworn to silence and the issue never came to light. On GenG, he lets himself indulge a bit more, but he'll still freeze up on occasion when someone enters the room as he's unwrapping a sweet or mid-bite of a dessert.
Chovy has prepared for the event of one of his friends/colleagues getting stuck in a timeloop by preparing a specific loop codephrase that only he knows, so that if anyone else says it to him, he'll know they've lived through that same day before. He's also already started brainstorming a list of likely reasons why he or someone else might get stuck in a timeloop so that if someone does approach him he has a few ideas of what to try. No one knows why he felt the need to prepare so much for this hyperspecific fantasy scenario, but some have speculated that he watched a movie about it when he was young and ever since has had an irrational fear of groundhog-daying. Else maybe he just read the handful of LoLRPF fics about time loops and wanted to be ready, lmao-
Peyz first started playing League after watching Faker win Worlds in 2017 - prior to that, he primarily played solo-play games like card battlers and online board games. When he was eleven, he overheard some of his classmates talking about League and decided to watch the World Finals in hopes of making friends that way. After that, he gave it a try, and learned that he really liked working with other players - he did need to be in a carry role, though, in case the rest of his team wasn't up to standard. It was a few years later when he told his parents that his dream was to become a pro-gamer.
Lehends watched a TON of b-tier soap operas (k-dramas?) growing up and it used to drive his family crazy because he'd recite the most random lines from it at inopportune times (cue young Siwoo in detention because he told the teacher 'you only think that because you're pregnant with her husband's child', which is evidently not an appropriate response to being told he answered the math problem incorrectly). His television use was regulated after that, but then he discovered webtoons and got his tacky romance fix that way. If he's having a bad day, sometimes he'll still queue up one of his old favorites, maybe an episode of a drama that he can recite every word to, and curl up under the covers with snacks and act out the whole thing to himself.
That's one for everyone, but their group dynamic is very fun as well! If you watch their streams/vods you know that they all play arena with each other pretty regularly, and I love how they all take care of each other, especially how they all tend to Peyz. In my mind, Gen.G is essentially Peyz's adopted father (Canyon), mother (Chovy), tired uncle (Kiin) and wine aunt (Lehends), which is kind of hilarious because Peyz already has a way better home life than any of the four of them, yet they're all so devoted to taking care of him.
Thanks again for the ask, and have a great day <3

Six Nations Rugby: Scotland stunning win over England at Twickenham

Six Nations Rugby: Scotland stunning win over England at Twickenham
Six Nations Rugby Scotland got their campaign off to a stunning start with a third successive win over England in a superb match at Twickenham.
Duhan van der Merwe, having already scored a spectacular solo try in the first half, finished off a multi-phase team move in the 75th minute to take home a deserved 29-23 victory. The challenge for the Scots, as it was last year, is following up that success with victory over Wales in their next game.
They have not won their first two matches since 1996, when the tournament was the Five Nations, but this time they face Wales at Murrayfield rather than in Cardiff.
Six Nations Scotland back up stunning win over England?
France amplify their winning run – simply, Ireland damage Warren Gatland’s return and Scotland entire the Calcutta Cup hat-trick against their oldest rivals England. The opening weekend of the 2023 Six Nations had the whole lot from stunning solo tries to exciting comebacks.
So what are the key speaking points from the opening spherical of the opposition?
Scotland are one of a kind this yr, I assume they may win” said former Wales captain Sam Warburton at the BBC’s Rugby Union Daily. “They do not get bullied any greater. They could be so disillusioned if they do not win three video games this championship but they have to be aiming for four.
John Barclay, former Scotland captain, delivered: “I am now not saying they may win the championship however this organization has beneath-introduced and to go two from two might be a big step within the right course.
There’s a developing maturity and all of the speak popping out of the camp is they have to win once more subsequent weekend.
England show signs of recovery but lots to work
England were booed off at Six Nations Twickenham when they have been quite simply crushed through international champions South Africa in Eddie Jones’ very last game in price in November.
But new head educate Steve Borthwick’s side confirmed sufficient suggestions of higher matters to return no matter the defeat. Max Malins inspired with his first international attempts while Ellis Genge carried, rucked and scrummaged tirelessly before powering over for England’s third.
They perhaps lacked the clinical edge of Van der Merwe, with Finn Russell pulling the strings from midfield, and could want to enhance their defence after conceding 4 tries.
There’s plenty to paintings on, with possibly the biggest dilemma for Borthwick being whether or not to stick with gambling both Marcus Smith and Owen Farrell, or to just play one of the two and bring in a ball-sporting centre.
“I do not assume they’re the purpose England misplaced,” stated former England wing Ugo Monye. “The internet capacity and the increase when they get related is astronomical, so I’m seeking to study it in a fantastic experience.
“Fundamentally they observe the sport and play it otherwise, however how can they get that experience of concord to deliver out the best in each person else?
“It is a conundrum. They are two global-elegance players and you are no longer seeing them fulfil their capability.”
Dynamic Italy to bring their attacking game to Twickenham
Italy may additionally have won the undesirable Wooden Spoon – given to the side that finishes bottom in the match Six Nations- within the remaining seven years, but their new attacking ambition has to be admired.
Sometimes it’s miles to their detriment, as they attempted to transport the ball huge from deep interior their own 22 in opposition to France and often spilled it forward as they tried to dump.
But their style brought about a primary win over Australia remaining autumn and in returned Ange Capuozzo they’ve a finisher to in shape their endeavour.
Expect flair rugby at Twickenham on Sunday with both sides trying to illustrate their dynamism in assault.
“Italy will fancy their possibilities wherever they cross,” said Monye. “They play with such freedom and have a bounce from 2022. This is a huge step within the proper path.

RINDU Mengikis Jarak Meski Sehasta
Kenapa akh?,” balasku.
“MasyaaAllah. InsyaaAllah rencananya Ane ingin ngajak Antum untuk menjadi Pejuang Dakwah nya Allah Akh, jadi Volunteer disalah satu Event Kajian Akbar Jakarta.”
Tumblr media
“MasyaAllah.
Video : Jono
PIC Keamanan : Adityo dan Irna Inong
Wudhu : Zhorif dan Tias LIFE
Penyambut Tamu VIP : Taufik dan Yasmin Djawas Jempol
PIC Registrasi : Billy dan Herlin Adit
PIC Goodie Bag : Budi dan Tatiek KaXL
PIC Konsumsi : Mahir dan Arie LIFE
PIC Kebersihan : Yusep dan @tatihayati
PIC Back Stage : Mas Win dan @amaliasyarwan
PIC Petugas Shaff : Devan dan @Attar_qtr.
“Gengs … besok kita berkumpul jam 6 sdh di lokasi yaaa … kita akan briefing dulu posisi2 detail nya … Selamat beristirahat tetap semangat tetap istiqomah. Sampai jumpa besok. Salam merindu.” Timpanya.

When Ellis Genge and Kyle Sinckler start together on Saturday
It will be like watching Phil and Grant Mitchell from EastEnders I can not wait to see it.
Ellis and Kyle are good friends cut from the same garment. In one of their first training sessions we did a 15-on-15 run and the two ran around and tried to tear everyone's head off.
The older men thought: & # 39; Come on, boys, we are too old for this! & # 39; They are fiery characters and passionate guys, and that is exactly what you want on the rugby field.
The bad results in Italy have been, the only thing they are always proud of is their scrum. There is a video of me bent in half against them in 2013.
I lost the battle and my head was actually folded into my crotch – it looked like something from the Kama Sutra! Ben Youngs and Dan Cole still send me that clip on WhatsApp if they want to come under my skin.
The scrum session against Georgia will have been really good for Ellis and Kyle. It was no surprise to hear that it all started. The boys have stepped up because they have absolutely sprayed us last year. It was delicious.
We had our reversed lights from scrum one – so much so that Wayne Barnes moved us across the field because he was afraid that we would be driven back into the poles. I would have stepped out of my pension to be involved last week!
The training session against Georgia would have allowed England to step it up
Outside of the scrum, I do not think the skill levels of Italy are high enough to harass England. I hate to say it because Conor O & # 39; Shea is my old friend and he does good things there.
England will come out as a wounded animal, he is the most positive man you will ever meet – and Italy's long-lost tendency in the Six Nations will not change that. They have just been lost to Wales, so they have a point to prove, and the title is still fixed. Eddie Jones has not rested any of his big guns and there are heavy units across the field at Ellis, Kyle, Billy Vunipola, Manu Tuilagi, Ben Te & # 39; o and Joe Cokanasiga.
I will watch the game at home with a spicy Roman pizza. Thin crust and drowned in balsamic syrup. I bet that it will go 50-point through England.
Conor O & # 39; Shea is the most positive man you will ever meet but is defeated by England
People ask me two years ago about the & # 39; no ruck & # 39; -actic from Italy in Twickenham.
The truth is that none of us had any idea what was going on. The only thing I am good at is scrummaging and striking hits – with ruckgate I did not even have a few punches! Eventually I hit my own teammates because I did not have anyone else to hit!
There is a clip by Mike Catt that is moistened about it in the coaching box. We had no idea.
The standard answer
The standard answer we just focus on ourselves, but players keep an eye on the Scotland Wales game . They hope that Scotland will do the job, because England still wants to win the tournament.
A handful of players will watch the team and there will be others who do not care. They catch the first half of the hotel, but they will probably miss the end because they have to leave.
They will not see the result because phones no longer play in the locker room before the kickoff.

Six Nations 2020: England beat Ireland to keep title hopes alive

Six Nations 2020: England beat Ireland to keep title hopes alive
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luke Cowan-Dickie’s try midway through the second half ensured England’s victory
Six Nations: England v Ireland England:(17) 24 Tries:Ford, Daly, Cowan-DickiePens:FarrellCons:Farrell 3 Ireland:(0) 12 Tries:Henshaw, PorterCons:Cooney
England ended Ireland’s Grand Slam hopes in brutal fashion as they rediscovered some of their World Cup form to reignite their own title hopes.
First-half tries from George Ford and Elliot Daly after Irish defensive errors plus two conversions and a penalty from Owen Farrell gave England a commanding 17-0 lead.
Ireland struck back with a try from Robbie Henshaw but with Johnny Sexton uncharacteristically wayward off the tee, they never seriously threatened a comeback.
Luke Cowan-Dickie drove over for England’s third midway through the second half, with replacement Andrew Porter’s late try no sort of consolation for Ireland.
With Wales at home in a fortnight before a trip to Italy, Eddie Jones’ men will believe they can finish the championship in style, although they may need Ireland to do them a favour and beat France in Dublin next month.
For the men in green and their head coach Andy Farrell it was a chastening afternoon, all the optimism created by the wins over Scotland and Wales leaching away in a display that was ponderous until the game was gone.
Reaction and analysis after England v Ireland
Six Nations standings
England capitalise on Irish errors
England began at a real lick, Manu Tuilagi punching holes through the middle and going close down the left before Andrew Conway hauled him down.
And the reward came when Ben Youngs stuck a grubber kick through, Sexton dithered and juggled in his own in-goal area and Ford seized on the loose ball to touch down.
Sexton then mis-kicked horribly with a straightforward penalty from 30 metres out and England set up camp again in the Ireland half.
CJ Stander lost his shirt in a first-half tussle with Maro Itoje
Jonathan Joseph danced through in midfield after a mis-hit clearing kick from Conor Murray as Maro Itoje and CJ Stander scrapped in the 22, and England’s forwards hammered away at the Ireland line.
With a penalty coming, the men in white shaped to go wide, only for Ford to pop through another kick – and this time it was Jacob Stockdale who dallied, Daly diving onto the ball as Irish hands went to heads.
The scoreboard reflected the gulf between the two sides, England dynamic with ball in hand and ferocious in defence, Ireland laboured and error-ridden.
And Sexton’s miserable half was compounded when he was penalised for slowing the ball up, Farrell stroking over his kick to give England their biggest half-time lead over Ireland in 18 years.
England’s jabs hold Ireland at arm’s length
Ireland simply had to improve – and belatedly they did. An England knock-on from the restart gave away possession and the visitors finally chiselled out some territory too.
England managed to stop an Ireland driving maul from a line-out close in but the pressure kept coming.
Ireland won a penalty in front of the posts, opted for the scrum and eventually found space in the right-hand corner for Henshaw to burrow through two defenders and over the line.
But Sexton shanked the conversion just as he had the first-half penalty and the pressure ebbed away as Eddie Jones threw on Cowan-Dickie, Ellis Genge and Charlie Ewels.
England’s scrum, strong throughout, began to dominate and the penalties started to mount.
Farrell kicked to the corner, the forwards set up the maul from the line-out and Cowan-Dickie peeled off with Sam Underhill and Jonny May driving him on to roll over for England’s third try.
May was nearly clear on his own after seizing a loose ball from a messy Ireland ruck and appeared to be taken out by Henshaw after kicking the ball ahead, only for referee Jaco Peyper to wave play on.
And as the game stumbled towards the line, Porter rumbled over from a metre out for a try that made little difference to Ireland’s afternoon.
Man of the match: Courtney Lawes
Courtney Lawes won his 84th England cap to draw level with former captain Martin Johnson’s total
A bravura performance in the back row from a man more normally seen in the second row. He made 14 tackles and eight carries in the hour he was on the pitch, setting the tone for a dominant England performance. And all on his 31st birthday and while sporting a spectacular shiner of a black eye.
Line-ups
England:Daly; May, Tuilagi, Farrell (capt), Joseph; Ford, Youngs; Marler, George, Sinckler, Itoje, Kruis, Lawes, Underhill, Curry.

Pasai apa Anwar tak mau pecat Azmin...
Pasai apa Anwar tak mau pecat Azmin....
Tumblr media
Looks can be deceived. Cari jalan untuk maximize the pain, biar dia bleed to death.
Dalam politik, everything is a calculated risk. Siapa yang belajar risk management dia tahu la apa dia risk versus reward. The higher the risk, the better the reward. Dan orang macam Azmin is not known to be a risk taker. Macam mana dia ternak lebai di kerajaan selangor PRU lepas sebab takut hilang jawatan MB. Dia biasanya lempar batu sembunyi tangan. Dan kartel2 nya seperti Zuraidah akan buat kerja.  Jangan kita lupa bila PH cadangkan TunM jadi calon Perdana Menteri, kartel Azmin yang paling kuat bising kata TunM dah tua. Zuraidah nak cadangkan PH lantik Azmin jadi PM ( sebab DSAI dalam penjara) tapi rakyat semua tahu dia sendiri tak layak. Jadi Menteri Besar Selangor pun ikut pintu belakang. Lepas tu lantik MB Boneka baru pun ikut pintu belakang. Tengok la kualti MB Boneka, apa pun tak tahu. Bila dia dah tau cita-cita dia nak jadi PM belakang terburai, dia cuba bodek Tun M jadi menteri sampai habis penggal.
Story kat sini...
Saya rasa polis pun tak lama boleh simpan kes Sandakan. Kalau dah 95% accuracy tu dah kira tepat la. - Mohd Mukhlis Mohd Sharif
Azmin koner kanan,koner kiri...
Semalam diberitakan 22 MP UMNO bertemu Azmin Ali di kediaman dia, Berita tu tak merisaukan langsung..Jgn kata 22 MP..kalau 40 MP pun takda bawa kesan apa.. Dia nak orang layan Provokasi dia macam langkah Kajang dulu.. Dia tu mcm nampak hebat.. Bila orang masuk perangkap dia..Dia akan Menang.. Dari Sebelum PRU 14 lagi..Kononnya ada Team sendiri.. Tapi dia Dok kempen sorang, Orang ikut Jelajah Pakatan Harapan..pakai baju merah, Dia ngan geng dia Jelajah Baju biru.. walaupun Azmin dengan teori mesti bersama dengan PAS untuk menang Putrajaya..tapi akhirnya Tun yakin plan dan Strategi Rafizi.. Biaq pi kat Azmin nak buat apa.. Dia kornar kiri,Kornar kanan pun tak boleh pergi mana.. Dia ngan MP tu dok pusing roundabout jer la... dulu Nasaruddin Mat Isa pun macam tu gayanya..Senyap jer buat Kerja..Tapi tak kemana pun.. - AMB
Hanya kenduri aqiqah...
Bukan main sakan depa posing konon nak jack PM baru...
Hanya menunggu daun pintu terselak sahaja lagi.- mso
PH is waiting for its Doomsday...
Thanks to powerful public wrath that has culminated in a consensus to 'teach PH a lesson”, the ruling coalition suffered a major setback in the just concluded Tanjung Piai by-election, bagging only 26.7% of the votes in its worst ever by-election performance ever. The frustration of Chinese voters has far exceeded their concerns of Umno-PAS alliance as well as their attention on Umno's racist inclination and corruption cases involving Umno's leaders. Nothing comes more important than using the ballots in their hands to teach PH a lesson and vent their anger. No doubt PAS' theocracy is very dreadful, but when the emotion is high, the voters will not bother too much about this. For example, during the 2013 general elections, DAP campaigned for PAS, then still a component of the Pakatan Rakyat alliance, and many Chinese voters indeed voted for the Islamist party because all that they wanted was to overthrow the corrupt and incompetent government. The same goes for the situation today. Due to the incompetency of the PH coalition as well as its racist policy of enforcing Jawi calligraphy in Chinese primary schools, organising the Malay Dignity Congress, sheltering highly controversial Indian Muslim preacher Zakir Naik, and delaying the UEC recognition, etc., the public have become so frustrated with the government that they would still vote for the BN in this by-election, no matter how much they hated it in GE14.' The voters voted for MCA not because they loved BN or MCA, but they abhorred PH. As such, it is by no means accidental that DAP has the firm support of Chinese votes because the party has been fighting a racist government for all these years. Unfortunately, after DAP becomes a part of the new government, it fails to deliver what it has promised the voters, who can also teach the party a lesson by voting it out, as they did to MCA before. DAP must come to the realisation that the voters are not always ready to be exploited by politicians.
DAP has been too confident of itself that it will still retain the loyalty of Chinese voters despite having done so many things contrary to their interest, such as drastic cut in UTAR's allocations. A string of events took place prior to the nomination at Tanjung Piai, including the arrest and prosecution of two DAP assemblymen for alleged involvement in LTTE terror activities, the ban of “Belt and Road Initiative for Win-Winism” comic by Hew Kuan Yau, and the denial of Azmin Ali officiating a PKR Youth congress on the election eve. The ruling coalition believed that they could win the by-election by offering allocations and financial assistance during the campaign period, without taking into consideration the feelings of the people. Some may think that a 50% plunge in Chinese support for PH in Tanjung Piai is only an isolated incident. The applause from the participants when PH leaders announced the coalition's defeat in a dinner proves that its approval rate can drop further if continues to slacken. It is still acceptable if PH has lost only by a narrow margin, but not by a huge margin of 15,086 votes. This shows that PH has already become a government that lacks the popular support. The ruling coalition will have a much tougher journey ahead over the next three and a half years, as the opposition is poised to exert much bigger pressure on it. So, who should be held responsible for such a humiliating defeat? Indeed every component party has its own responsibility to bear, but as the coalition's chairman and prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has the biggest responsibility to shoulder because all major government policies have been decided by him and the cabinet members have all been picked by him. Tun Mahathir has an irrefutable responsibility especially for the miserable performance of PPBM ministers. During last year's general elections, PH chanted the slogan of saving the country, but now, it not only has failed to save the country but has sunken the country into deeper crisis. It only has itself to blame for the thumping defeat in Tanjung Piai.
There isn't much choice for PH now. If it continues to try to outdo Umno-PAS in racism, it will not only win the hearts of Malay voters, but will even lose more non-Malay votes. There is only one thing PH can do now, to revert to its original multiracial roadmap in order to retain its non-Malay support base through which it won the last general elections. Why should Malaysians support another coalition that is not any different from BN? While adopting a middle path may cost PH some rural Malay votes, at least it will be able to retain young, urban and non-Malay support. There is still chance if it cooperates or ties up with more moderate political parties in East Malaysia Anyway, this is still far better than losing both Malay and non-Malay votes and waiting passively for its own Judgement Day to come. PH must throw in some drastic changes such as abolishing its racist policies, deporting fugitive preacher Zakir Naik, cancelling the Jawi calligraphy curriculum, terminating Lynas' operating licence, reinstating UTAR's allocations, abolishing the quota system and embracing meritocracy in order to revitalise the national economy and restore public confidence over the next three years. PH leaders must be humble in listening to the people and conscientiously serving their needs. Having said that, it may not be easy for PH leaders to change their attitude, not to mention that many people are actually afraid of change. It remains questionable whether PH can eventually deliver itself out of the current doldrums, given the weaknesses in humanity as well as internal conflicts within the coalition. - sinchewdaily

Joe Marler says he is not traveling to Japan to right the mistakes of the last World Cup – admitting the bad memories of 2015 will never be erased.
The riotous prop retired this summer and begins in England & # 39; s final warming test against Italy on Friday evening. He is one of the 15 players left from the Stuart Lancaster & # 39; s team that bombed into the group stage four years ago.
But Marler claims that his turning point was motivated by a change in the view of family life rather than an urge to heal old wounds.
. Joe Marler insists that winning the Rugby World Cup in Japan would not make up for the 2015 exit
Marler is one of the 15 players who were part of the 2015 side that went into the group stage

TV : LIVE Sky Sports Action from 7 pm.
I would still feel the same about 2015, regardless of what is happening at this World Cup & # 39 ;, Marler said.
& # 39; It is completely different – 2015 was c ** p. That's the mildest I've ever said. I will always have that. If we win this World Cup, I can't just forget 2015, because it still happened. A home world cup is unique and I don't think it's like going to Japan … what I'm most looking forward to is their wonderful toilets! & # 39;
When Marler initially announced his retirement, it attributed to the stress of staying away from his young family.
He now has three children, but believes that the camp environment has become more sensitive in the way he interacts with loved ones.
England flies to Japan on Sunday – 48 hours after their game at St James & Park – and returns only in November when they reach the end.
& # 39; In January, if someone had told me to be at the World Cup, I would have said: "Nice, it doesn't happen, I'm chilling here at home and my The time of England is over, "Marler said.
"A lot has changed on and off the field in recent months. It's exciting and the boys are in a good position to hopefully have a more positive experience.
& # 39; Er is more aware that they now have families. Many boys have given birth to young babies in the last year and the environment has certainly taken care of it. It has not been made easier because it is always difficult to leave them, especially with a baby. three months old. & # 39;
Marler believes that the environment offers more support to players with young families
Jones has an improvised appointed team for Friday's game against Italy with three players who will not travel to Japan. Joe Marchant starts at 1:00 am in the midst of injuries to Henry Slade and Jonathan Joseph, and Matt Kvesic and Charlie Ewels are on the couch.
& # 39; Henry is doing really well – he is running & # 39 ;, said coach Steve Borthwick. & # 39; It's just a case of that next phase, that last phase. He is just not completely ready for this game, but he is close.
2015 MADE HISTORY
1 – The 2015 World Cup was the only time England went into the World Cup groups.
It was also the first time since 1991 that a host country left the tournament in the polar phase.
& Jonathan is also nearby. He will be in full training (on Thursdays). But big thanks to Joe Marchant. The weeks that he trained with us, he has been absolutely excellent. His attitude is first class. & # 39;
The test can also offer Marler a chance to pack on the other side of the scrum, with a tight head. With only five props traveling to Japan, Marler is seen as the most versatile option for both specialist positions.
& # 39; It was difficult, but when I was asked if I could do the job, I said yes I had to make a backup, & Marler said. & # 39; Training is never quite the same as an Italian who wants to tear your head off. Although Ellis Genge sometimes gives me that look! It is difficult and complex – different bonds, different foot positions.
& # 39; It feels a bit like you're writing with your wrong hand, but I enjoy it. Hopefully I get the chance to wear it in a England shirt at some point. Then I can go back to the club and ask for more money! & # 39;

Rugby: Eddie Jones admits he has taken risks with England's Rugby World Cup 2019 squad
New Post has been published on https://diary.nz/rugby-eddie-jones-admits-he-has-taken-risks-with-englands-rugby-world-cup-2019-squad/
Rugby: Eddie Jones admits he has taken risks with England's Rugby World Cup 2019 squad
Eddie Jones has admitted he had to take ‘risks’ in opting for an inexperienced 31-man squad for the Rugby World Cup in Japan, omitting Lions’ centre, Ben Te’o after a training camp altercation with Mike Brown and warning that there could be more problems ahead.
The England head coach revealed that it was the most ‘stressful and painful,’ part of the job to inform players that they had been left out and the calls were only made to those particular individuals on Monday morning following a two- hour management meeting on Sunday night at the team hotel in Chiswick during which Jones was persuaded to change his mind on one player by the four other coaches.
The chosen 31 only found out that they had made the cut on the coach down the M4 to their base in Bristol when their names appeared on a WhatsApp group created for Saturday’s game against Wales in Cardiff. Only two scrum-halves have been named. Jones conceded that decision ‘was a gamble.’
Jones refused to give specific detail as to the reason for the omission of Te’o but there is little doubt that the emphasis on discipline is vital ahead of a World Cup.
“We’ve had that conversation with Ben and he understands it,” said Jones. “Whether he agrees with it is another matter.”
Jones did not rule out the possibility that Te’o could get a call if there were a spate of injuries. The Australian is approaching his fourth World Cup campaign and is well aware that there will be bumps in the road ahead.
“I’ve never been confident in a team being smooth,” said Jones. “We’re like any family – everyone sits around the dining table but you know there are problems and we’re exactly the same. We’ve got 31 having nice conversations (but) you know potentially there’s a problem. All I can do is trust the players – they are adults, they’re responsible, they want to play for England and we could have some problems. If we do, we’ll deal with them. Every team has problems.”
Owen Farrell will lead the team into the tournament and acknowledges that the squad will have to set its own standards.
“Going forward as a group, we want to police ourselves as much as we can,” said Farrell.
Jones had initially set his sights on having a battle-hardened group heading to Japan but has picked a squad showing only 1008 caps, an average of 16 caps per man fewer than the New Zealand side that won the 2015 World Cup. The need to have in-form, zestful, hungry players has become an imperative, hence the inclusion of rookies such as Bath wing Ruaridh McConnochie and Northampton flanker Lewis Ludlam.

In the words of Jones, Ludlam has ‘come from absolutely nowhere’. Jones who conceded that he had to change his view two years ago when he realised that the legs of his experienced core of players ‘were about to fall off.”
“It’s our best 31, I’m convinced it’s our best 31,” said Jones. “I could have picked more experienced players but I just don’t feel they’ll give us what the younger guys will give us. It is nice to bring in new blood. It freshens everything up. There are risks involved in it, risks in every position. It’s a stressful, painful period. As a coach it’s probably one of my least favourite times. Telling players they haven’t made the World Cup is not a nice conversation. Everyone reacts differently, because they’re different people. Some players are in a state of shock, some players handle it and then go away and get angry, some players go away and kick their dog straight away. They’re all different.’
Those that did make the cut were further uplifted by specially-compiled video messages of all those who had supported them through their upbringing at their junior clubs. Among them was 32-year old Gloucester scrum-half, Willi Heinz who has shot through the ranks over the last 12 months, only winning his first cap on Sunday against Wales and the only specialist back-up to Ben Youngs.
Fly-half George Ford, who played scrum-half in his formative years in rugby league, will step up in an emergency.
The same belt-and-braces situation also applies to the tighthead where Harlequins’ Joe Marler, will move across if there are any eve-of-match issues affecting Kyle Sinckler or Dan Cole. Marler, only recently out of self-imposed retirement, has only ever played on that side of the scrum for Esher and Worthing at National One level although he was also assigned that stop-gap role for England in the 2015 World Cup.
Jones will only make changes to this squad in the event of injury even though he does not have to formally declare it to Rugby World Cup until September 8th. The head coach took the decision to name his squad far earlier than any other country after lengthy consultation with players and coaches from England’s last two failed World Cup campaigns.
“The common theme that came through was that selection was a massive distraction for England (before those tournaments) so decided to take the course that rather than allow it to become a distraction we would allow the players to get on with the job,” said Jones who has added three players for this weekend’s game – flanker, Matt Kvesic, lock, Charlie Ewels and centre, Joe Marchant.
Exeter wing Jack Nowell, who has been recovering from ankle and knee problems sustained in the Premiership Final in June, has had a ‘little set-back,’ and may now not feature in any of the warm-up games prior to departure.
The shoulder injury incurred by Tom Curry will sideline him for ‘a small amount of weeks,’ while centre, Henry Slade will be out of action for another two to three weeks. Jones has put his faith in their recovery and in the ability of the 31 to deliver for England.
