Unpopular opinion: GCF in Saipan is actually my favorite GCF created by Jungkook. While GCF in Tokyo holds a lot of depth and significance , I swear I can’t get over the way Jungkook captured Jimin in GCF in Saipan. Jimin looked so beautiful and ethereal, and, call me crazy, but you can almost feel how much Jungkook loves Jimin just by seeing things from his perspective.

The lyrics, “I don’t wanna lie no more, I don’t wanna hide no more, what I found in you is so real, I’mma let you have the best of me” are so beautiful and meaningful. To me, they speak volumes. It feels like Jungkook was trying to express his feelings in the best way he could under his circumstances. I wouldn’t have thought much of it if other members appeared when those lyrics played, but the fact that Jimin and only Jimin was shown both times during that part of the song cannot be a coincidence.

For me, this was one of the boldest and most expressive moments Jungkook has ever had. While the entire video is stunning, it is also incredibly heartbreaking when you really think about it. Anyone unbiased who watches these videos can’t help but notice how Jimin seems to be the centerpiece of it all. The way Jungkook intentionally pairs those lyrics with Jimin should speak volumes about what he was trying to convey.

Say what you will, but some of the GCFs Jungkook created were his outlet…..a way for him to express how he felt about Jimin without directly saying it.

Jikook Moments that Make Me Melt

I was lacking some positivity on my blog, in my opinion. So, I’m going to created a little series of Jikook moments that make me melt, whenever I find them. I want these to be subtle, deep cuts. Little things that I find really really adorable and swoon worthy.

I’ve been rewatching GCF’s lately because how could I not if JK is bringing the hashtag back and if I’m delulu enough to think that maybe just maybe we will get another GCF soon featuring our main model, forever gorgeous and king of our hearts Park Jimin.

This frame has always been my favorite part of the entire video. The way Jimin is smiling that pretty eye smile clearly at JK and the way he goes in for a high-five is so damn adorable to me. No one else interacts with JK like that while he’s filming. Nothing about this moment gives platonic to me. Jungkook didn’t help either by setting the background music to “I don’t want to hide no more/I don’t want to lie no more/ what I found in you, is so real” whenever Jimin is in frame. But I digress. Something about this sweet little notion for a high five. The fact that JK included it in the Final Cut for the video is so precious to me.

love through a lens

You know that feeling when a picture says a thousand words...

This is my favourite picture of Jimin, by far, and that is taking into account how hard it is to choose, him being such a stunning human being and all.

I find that whenever JK is behind the camera, Jimin is looking at him, past the lens, not at it. We are the viewer, but he is not looking at us.

(The same can be said for GCF Tokyo and Saipan).

I think there is something profoundly beautiful about this, because love is capture in the shot, and the love the subject has for the photographer too.

This photo was taken at a time where the world was at a stand still, so much uncertainty. Jimin by self admission was having a hard time, and they were filming 'life goes on', with director JK. Here Jimin is playing in the water with Jin, JK is capturing the moment. It's playful, a moment of solace perhaps during a busy shoot on a warm day. Jimin captured, unguarded, his beauty shining through.

It's a truly beautiful shot.

GCF-SAIPAN, the real deal.

Disclaimer: this is my own personal interpretation and ideas, take it as it is.

Preface:

1. Let’s go back to the moment when Jungkook posted GCF-TOKYO (GCF-T), do you remember? Namjoon told him that if he wanted to get millions of views he should use V as his next film model. GCF-T was 1 second old and Joon was suggesting this “for views”.

2. The teaser: Jungkook posted a teaser of GCF-SAIPAN (GFC-S) with a giggling Jimin ghost boxing at the beach shore. That teaser, upon cute and beautiful, showed some clip that was 2min 48secs long and the music that we can listen in that exact moment doesn’t match with the “final” version. In my humble opinion, GCF-S as we know it was not how Jungkook initially planned it. We got an “ot7” version. Because for me, GSF-S was just like GCF-T: Jimin was the main and only focus.

GCF-S as we know it:

1. The moment the film starts, we see V at the beach, and Joon’s words come to my mind: “use V and you will get millions of views”. We could think Jungkook did what Joon told him, and we were getting a V centered film “for views” (would Jungkook do something like that? In my opinion, no, he wouldn’t do a GCF only for views or with that in mind). We couldn’t be more wrong, because, as we will see very soon, the camera pans to the left and we see Jimin walking to the camera, and it is the 1st time we hear the famous and iconic lyrics: “I don’t wanna hide no more, I don’t wanna lie no more, what I found in you is so real”. In my opinion this is a clear message: I’m giving you a Jimin centered film again. Those very first moments of the film transitioning to show us Jimin afterwards with those lyrics is clearly intentional and very telling.

2. The film goes on and we see the rest of the members in different settings and we notice that the light and the color of the scenes are different than the Jimin’s one, because, as I stated, this “final” version of GCF-S is not the OG Jungkook had filmed. It is very clear to me.

3. We see Jimin back in screen in his “solo” shoot, and those lyrics show AGAIN, for a second time, for Jimin and Jimin only. This is intentional too and with PURPOSE. Jungkook was passionate about video editing, he educated himself, he enjoyed it and learnt a lot about it, this is not coincidental, AT ALL.

4. Just like in the rest of GCF films, Jungkook stops the music only to show Jimin being a dork. This is a pattern, Jimin is his exception, always.

SO, in my opinion, GCF-S is the real tea. In my opinion too, GCF-T was loud enough, but many people didn’t “get” the memo, so Jungkook said, ok hold my beer and let me show you something, and he edited the raw 1st version of GCF-S with Jimin as the main and only model. Remember when Joon posted the video of Jungkook filming Jimin at the shore? He had 0 idea of what Jungkook was doing, he didn’t know Jungkook was filming a CGF at all. So we can say no one else was supposed to be part of it.

I truly think Jungkook’s intention was filming GCF-S with Jimin only and at some point it was suggested to turn it into an ot7 film (probably for promotional purposes), maybe it was said that having two full films focused on Jimin was “too much”, maybe it was just the company, we won’t probably never know.

What's even more devastating about GCF Saipan, is this clip Jk posted of him giggling at Jimin while editing it. What is important to note here, is how the solo clip of Jimin is at the opening of the song and how he lets it play all the way through to "I don't wanna hide no more, I don't wanna lie no more" which is actually half the entire song, when you think about it. So that is a third time actually, that he let those specific lyrics play on Jimin and he showed us. Not only did it seem he was gonna open the video with a solo Jimin, from the looks of this clip, he made sure to keep those lyrics on him only, even in the editing process, which means his mind was already made up. Those lyrics were meant for Jimin and Jimin ONLY and he told us three times. THREE TIMES. Once is a coincidence. Three times is telling you the truth. He doesn't wanna hide and lie no more. Maybe it's time people stopped being selfish and jealous and let JK know its okay and he doesn't have too anymore.

You know some people actually speculated that perhaps GCF in Saipan might have originally been intended to feature only Jimin, based on this video he was editing. The theory is that Jungkook may have later decided to include the other members to avoid making it too obvious, as two videos centered solely on Jimin could have given too much away. While it’s just speculation, it’s not a theory I find far-fetched.

Yea I definitely don’t think putting footage of Jimin along side those lyrics repeatedly was a coincidence. Jk definitely knew what he was doing.

And the comments/citations 😅😂. But when we tell them that for Jimin they said we exaggerate, that it is not that deep to change the color in the GCF.

It always baffles me how people are okay to say that Jungkook have a HUGE crush on Namjoon that he wants to marry him bla-bla-bla BUT the moment there is something about Jimin and Jungkook it’s “brother love”.

For me it’s because they don’t have the fear when they see Namjoon and JK together, they don’t feel like they could be a real couple, they laughed about it because they don’t really believe it (or do they?). But the fear of something being real like the possibility of being a couple, is something that they feel when they see Jimin and Jungkook together. They see it too! But it doesn’t match with the Ideal image they have of Jungkook which case in point is Fuckboy; heterosexual man; that could maybe fall in love with a fan girl (their dream).

But still, it baffles me 🤦‍♀️

GCF Saipan was the same. The way it was structured and the lyrics choice clearly highlighted Jimin but then tkkers were still saying "the camera focused on Tae! He's in love with him" like please 😂 same for Namjoon.

I mean they must see the same thing as we do? But then probably find a way that makes sense to them to entirely dismiss it as fanservice/forced/bro behaviour.

Yes I agree with you they must see other ships less threatening because not real, just for fun, unlike jikook who hit a little too close to home. But there are also unfortunately still some who think these other ships are real - not only tkkers - look at yoonminers for example you have people who are in DEEP and not for fun. They actually believe it. It baffles me to this day.

You know fans having this fantasy of Jungkook being this heterosexual man coming to ravish them, I just had that thought but maybe we should give people a break. After all that's the whole concept of being an idol, they make people think they are single and that they are their fan's boyfriends, they push for it in many ways and have done so for years. I guess for many people and especially young fans, it's very hard to question things that are presented to them in such light. I'm not entirely sure I blame them for not questioning the status quo. Idk maybe that's too much mental gymnastics for some.

For many it's pretty obvious that it is not the case, that it's only a fantasy sold for a long time for money, it's just them playing the game, and now that they get older things might be different in many ways, but still. Jungkook has never said anything "clear" about his sexuality. To understand a little bit you need to closely pay attention to him and his action/words for years.

When you have the whole picture it is indeed pretty clear that he is not heterosexual.

But really what I learned is that people really do not pay attention at all, or pay attention only to what interests them.

Many don't know half the things jikook have done over the years.

Jikookers have the whole relationship and hundreds of moments in mind that depict a whole love story and a lot of lore.

But most people aren't aware of that.

Most of the time they barely see it and immediately dismiss it.

Since many have come accross different narratives and brainwashing when it comes to jikook they already begin with a bias.

I love when people say "I saw this jikook moment and thought there was something that wasn't right, something off, I need to look further into it" and then they binge jikook stuff and discover that indeed they was more to it than they thought and most likely become a jikooker afterwards.

But it comes purely from the individual and his own intuition/sensations. It's often when people make very deep dives to make their own opinions that they begin to see it.

But before this it remains very surface level.

And you know what? I'm not even mad. Everything moves fast in this fandom. You have news almost every day. You have music to stream, votes to make, the last yoongi cat meme to like, so much content you can spend months and months watching everything.

So am I mad that people dimiss jikook like this? Yes. Many of them do not bear good will and are full of hate for them. I can't forgive it. But I also want to nuance it by thinking there are also people who are simply not as deep into it than us, people who take things at face value, people who need things spelled out for them, young fans, casual fans, desperate girls who would love a star they will never meet to be their boyfriends and can't afford to think even for a second that their idol is gay because they would be sad and feel lied to.

Honestly, it pains me, but I get it.

I'm trying to let go of my frustration because the difference of treatement of jikook in this fandom is hard to accept. But I guess things are not entirely black & white and I'm trying to understand why people have a different perspectives (not the haters of course, fuck them). Like these people in the post you shared.

My first instinct would be to rant too and be angry, but then I think it's better for me to let it go. I'll say to myself "Let them have their fun 🤷🏻‍♀️". If they want to think Joon & Jungkookie are romantic and totally ignore the elephant in the room who am I to ruin it for them.

Hi! I’m still new to Jimin and Jungkook and all things BTS, my sister is more of a fan so I’ve always known some songs, and knew they were serving in the military right now. But I was never interested beyond just listening to music before.

A few months ago my sister was watching Are you sure on disney. I noticed it was in korean but it didn’t even hit me it could be BTS since they were in the military, so I thought it was a YouTuber couple. The episode she had on was one of the Japan ones. I remember I said something about it being very ambitious to set up cameras around the house for vlogs? And then they did something cute and I said they were a cute couple. You can imagine my sister’s reaction to that…

After she told me who they were and they’re not together but some believe they are, I was confused. We ended up watching all of are you sure together in the weeks after that, and even though the episodes were long and slow, it was delightful! They are hilarious, clearly know and complement each other so well. We also watched the BTS documentary and concert film on Disney after that, sister was happy to finally have converted me Lol

But after that I was still curious about Jimin and Jungkook. I couldn’t figure them out. They were like an old married couple, but other times I could see why my sister claimed they were just friends. To be fully honest, I think I would have stuck to couple without questioning it if I had watched ays on my own with no additional info. My sister couldn’t give me much on them though, she’s not very focused on them since they are not her favorites in the group.

So naturally, I went looking for more. I got more into their music and watched a lot on YouTube, and did some digging here on tumblr. I’m still not sure what I believe jikook are, but that might be because I have only ”known” them for a few months. I also don’t think it matters. It’s saddening to see the climate among their fans though. I just skimmed through the recent asks on this page, and I’m seriously wondering if these people are pretending to have these opinions just to stir up drama, or what? It seems completely outlandish to me to be thinking this negatively of their sweet relationship. They deserve better.

at the end of the day they are best friends regardless of anything so yeah it is sad to see how jikook is treated by the fandom, all these claims that they hate each other etc. have been happening for years. i'm not expecting anyone to think that they're dating each other, because i don't even really care about that, but claiming that they're not close when they clearly are and reading into every minutia is exhausting.

Revisiting JK's Insta stories

I don't think we talk enough about how he responded this to the question "How should I confess my feelings to my crush?" when he still had Instagram.

All of GCF in Tokyo takes place in one day. He basically took Jimin to Tokyo for his birthday as well. And Jimin didn't know that he would make the video.

This is not confirmed, but it's pretty clear he took the idea of the composition of the video from this video from the channel videoclass, the thing is not that he took inspiration from another video, but the title which can be translated to “5 Tips in making a Special Video for your Girlfriend/Boyfriend” (I know a little bit of Korean and it's not a mistranslation the bg/gf part). The channel's owner even made a video analysis of it.

Idk man, I just think these are too many coincidences (?). The fact that he says he always looks for lyric translations. I get really stuck on the line "When you're screaming, but they only hear you whisper, I'll be loud for you". And isn't GCF Tokyo one of the loudest he's ever been?

You can also look at how he shot GCF Saipan, how Jimin, and only Jimin, appears when the lyrics say "I don't wanna lie no more, I don't wanna hide no more, what I found in you is so real". I don't really like to make the other GCFs so much about Jimin, but it makes you think.

For JK, the ideal way of confessing to your crush is going to eat with them, hold hands and then go to an amusement park, at least it was at the time he was responding us on Insta. It makes you reflect, doesn't it?

Ps: how he signed the actor part with "JM". And people really wanna gaslight me into thinking he didn't know what the J above the M would look like on his hand 🤨. Yes J for Jungkook, doesn't mean the J+M isn't Jimin, both can be true.

So, I kinda think that Jikook are a thing. Just because there's sth different compared to other relationships in bangtan*.

But to kinda play devil's advocate: I think it's easy to read into stuff and skew the perspective. We as shippers might think that just cause Jikook sometimes do sth they don't with other members that it's a sign of sth romantic, but it could also just be that their friendship grew different from the others.

Them having insane chemistry and different ways of showing their platonic love doesn't make it romantic. We have no clue what actual romantic gestures Jimin or Jungkook would show towards their partners b/c their insane status forbids it.
