One of my biggest criticisms of The Messenger (2018) is that its gimmick whereby your little demon buddy has a topical insult for you every single time you respawn breaks up the flow in an annoying way during the game's frequent die-and-retry precision platforming sequences, but it now occurs to me that with a few small adjustments that framework could appeal to a very specific set of interests. Like, you can't tell me that a Celeste style platformer where your bratty little fairy companion calls you a loser every time you eat a faceful of spikes wouldn't do numbers with a particular crowd.

I never had a console growing up so it was all at my cousins' house or on a school computer but: Oregon Trail, Super Mario 64, GoldenEye, The Incredible Machine, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

the latter fully created my interest in Lovecraftian horror btw and I honestly still think about that game all the time

I hope the "What if Disco Elysium was about a witch finding her cat in the mountains" post never leaves the gaming discourse vernacular. It will never not be funny to me bc it's got all the Gamer Entitlement™ levels of CoD bros throwing hissy fits about "woke" shit but instead of being couched in far right reactionism it's the exact kind of "Kingdom of Conscience" style liberal outrage at anything with conviction and beliefs that DE waxed on about. Like even chuds who get mad that the game calls you out for being racist interact with the themes of DE better and understand them more than Cat Lady did.

I don't mind predominantly atmospheric video game soundtracks in principle, but I do admit I miss the way some older console games would have a dense, bombastic soundscape suddenly go soft and atmospheric to communicate that You Are In Danger.

The war has intensified again, There are numerous threats from the IDF to evacuate the area where I live.

There is no transportation or any means of transport to transport some of the items I bought again. My house was completely destroyed due to shelling. We will also begin a new ordeal, as we will have no shelter, no tent, no clothes, and no food.
