🍁 can you elaborate on that "tears to shed" post for gol?
if I touch a burning candle, I can feel no pain. In the ice, or in the sun, it's all the same.
...
Gol became 100% mechanical in order to survive. It wouldn't have been her first choice. In the R&C universe, Robots probably have advanced sensory capabilities, to examine environments, some even have the ability to 'eat' and 'drink' (if Emperor Nefarious whipping out the celebratory alcohol and Clank fretting over his pizza coupons are anything to go by).
But I highly doubt its the same as being an organic, and Gol feels it --- or rather doesn't. Not the way she used to. Touch in particular. It isn't that she feels 'dead' in, though in darker moments she wonders if this is fate's way of evening the score, since she escaped certain death. She does lament a life lost to her, though she's still alive; she can never go back to being how she was.
#//i feel i ought to tag this with something though I'm unsure its very mild references#G. O. L --- ʀᴏʙᴏᴛɪᴄ ᴇɴᴄᴏᴜɴᴛᴇʀꜱ

I think maybe in the Ghost in the Shell verse Gol ought to have maybe a body horror tag...at one point..? (where she still has an organic brain.)
I did put in the rules the mention of terminal illness in Gol's backstory, but I'm aware this can be a trigger. It was inspired by stories like Nora Fries in BTAS, but lately I wonder if I should adjust the backstory to be more vauge, just that she could no longer survive as an organic and had to become (in some verses) entirely robotic.
Gol is hilarious as a character because she hasn't had many threads but she...lives rent free in my brain with extended little plotlines. My ghost in the shell, nora fries/corpse bride inspired, ratchet and clank robot oc.
There are other horror elements and some of this overlaps with Gray and the alchemy bother, but still.

My Star Command muse is going brrrrrrr right now. I was thinkin' of a thread where good old XO here must pretend to defect from Star Command and go undercover as a villain, to infiltrate, gather information, and so on, and even keep up the act in front of his friends. XO hasn't had many threads, though.
Francis needs to break get into Disney Studios. The archives, in particular. For completely benign reasons. Follow hot on the trail of an artist bringing toons to life, including dangerous and deadly ones. Which means he's gotta act a bit criminal himself...
While I have no icons yet for Charms's grandmother, Charm, I would like to write her sometime. Maybe some traveller has been directed to her as a kind of 'wise women of the woods' or 'wish giver' and she's not so inclined to be granting any. (Whether this assumption is correct about the muse can depend on the thread; but Charm the 1st is always suspicious and cynical of people's intentions. That said, I'd like little Charms to wow people with his godlike abilities. Or terrify them. While he hails from Craftworld, he can exist in a lot of stories I think, as an embodiment of childhood whimsy.
Cyberpunk vibes anybody? I was listening to the Ghost in the Shell soundtrack and it brought both iterations of Gol back to mind. Either main! Gol helping somebody find the Scoop on some public figure or gathering info/interviewing somebody, or alternate!Gol helping smuggle somebody through Emperor Nefarious' blockades...
Maybe Blot Mouse could get some screentime, grappling with his new memories vs his old. He's not been in this form for very long and while having a solid image help keep his mind intact, he sometimes misses the power that came from being an abstract, untethered idea. He could either end up a friend or foe, depending on who he meets and how they treat him, much like the choice in Epic Mickey to use Paint or Thinner...

A little update on the rules:
There may be mentions of terminal illness, and discussions of death. I understand that these topics may make some people uncomfortable and while I don’t plan on going into too much detail for some of these, I do want to warn in advance. If mentioned I’ll do my best to tag.
has been adjusted to:
There may be mentions of terminal illness, discussions of death, injury, existentialism, non-personhood and ill-treatment (particularly for the robot and toon characters from humans). Nothing too graphic will be present but I do warn in advance. If mentioned I’ll do my best to tag. Same with smoking, drinking, and so forth.
for Gol on her muse page: (I doubt I'd every write anything too graphic but I want to cover all bases)
Note: This muses’ (and her alternate verse) backstory contains mention of terminal illness and medical equipment/procedures and very mild body horror/existentialism. If you wish to avoid this her tag can be filtered out: G. O. L — ʀᴏʙᴏᴛɪᴄ ᴇɴᴄᴏᴜɴᴛᴇʀꜱ

The camera hovers by her shoulder, a conspicuously blinking light signalling that it is recording. The mic in her hand is something right out of a stereotypical movie where the reporters barges in on the action. Technically, she's not a reporter and this is a...very strange interview.
"Can you tell us about your inspirations?"

📖 for gol and rod rabbit!
anon or not, send me ‘ 📖 ‘ and i will explain a situation / setting i’ve wanted to place my muse into, but haven’t had the chance to, yet.
Gol here's not gotten many threads, but any situation discussing her nature and the philosophy behind it is a win. Again, 'ship of theseus' idea but for a person. That, and her playing the interviewer. Not only was it part of her job once, but she's a little nosy. There's a plotline in 'Reboot' where the characters pretend to interview a villain in order to stall for time, and I've love Gol to have a go at that charade.
As for Rod here, I've noodled up many plots of him sneaking around and requesting help from other toons, but somebody helping him unsolicited might be fun. Poor guy's been through the wringer.

I was deliberating on the 'Ghost in the Shell' idea for Gol, and settled on her counterpart being the 'brain in a jar' android while prime! Gol is 100% mechanical.

so one of the reasons I draw prime! Gol the most is because her helmet makes her easier to draw. So I'm not sold on Gil's look here. He looks too grumpy here when I was going for sombre, haha. But I'll get him eventually. Gol's first design was hard to translate from my brain to paper. I'm out of practise.

The thing about GOL is that I had three separate ideas for her universal counterpart: The pop singer currently on the muse page, and a male version who was more of a mopey, hermit shut-in who I haven't had the chance to draw yet who I dubbed 'Gil' in my head. He was once a music editor and event planner who preferred managing singers rather than being in the spotlight himself.
Then there's the third option: the Biobliterator wasn't created in the alternate universe, therefore, the other Gol died long before the events of Rift Part, and Gol finds herself with no counterpart at all.

in both dimensions, Gol would still require oxygen in the 'Ghost in the Shell' verse. She has a full functioning synthetic lung and respiratory system, not unlike how a camera mimics an eye. However, there's also a secondary filter on either side of her skull. Since the most vulnerable part of her body is her head and spine, her robotic form has to balance light-weight, yet durable, extra padding. In this instance, Gol would not have been transformed by the Biobliterator, but in fact had a body custom-built to attach to her organic brain. If damaged, she'd need specialized attending for this reason, and medically, she'd be seen as a cyborg, not a robot, though on surface level no one would realize.

thinking about Ghost in the Shell and the idea of a robot having an organic brain and spine. the imagery of organic beings 'powering' machinery is a very dystopian, futuristic concept.
