Had Our Journey at the World of Furniture Design – the 28th China International Furniture Fair
The 28th China International Furniture Fair, one of the largest events in the furniture industry, kicked off this Monday (Sep. 11) and we Yadan Steel Furniture (represented by Luoyang Light Group, our parent company) had the pleasure of exhibiting there.
We were excited to display many of our newest and best products, including multiple specifications of office cabinets, office desks and a loft bed, all made of steel in great designs, to visitors all over the world.
What we're most proud of is the wood-like surface effect that we achieve using our wood grain transfer printing technology. It makes our steel cabinets almost indistinguishable from those real wooden ones, and not only do they look exactly like real wood, they even feel like wood to the touch!
Our booth at N9B05 was well-received by attendees, and we were very excited to see so much interest in our steel furniture. Many visitors remarked on the durability and sleek design of our products, and we were proud to showcase the versatility of steel in furniture design.
The fair as a whole was a great success, with many eye-catching novel designs. One interesting trend we observed was a focus on the human body and how furniture can enhance our physical experience. Many upholstered furniture designs paid close attention to the feeling of the human body, creating products that are shaped in a whole piece and felt like a natural extension of the self. While we specialize in producing hard furniture such as cabinets and tables, we recognize the importance of staying attuned to evolving customer preferences.
In terms of materials, steel and metal are an indispensable type. They provide furniture with solidity and a special texture that can't be achieved with other materials.
We also saw many examples of furniture designs that incorporated natural elements, like bamboo, or trees. The combination of man and nature may be the next theme in the furniture industry.
While furniture is certainly a major focus of the industry, it's not the only area where designers are making an impact. There are many examples of tableware and other household items that were just as innovative and stylish as the furniture on display.

This year the iconic Rietveld-Schröder House in Utrecht celebrates its 100th anniversary, a welcome opportunity for the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, Rietveld’s hometown, to dedicate a rather unusual exhibition to the local hero: for „Kuijer & Rietveld“, running through 18 August, the museum invited sculptor Ruud Kuijer to engage with their unique collection of Rietveld furniture. Up to this point Rietveld has largely been discussed in the context of De Stijl, architecture and furniture design but Kuijer explicitly focuses on the sculptural quality of his furniture designs. Taking up the cue William Hayward provided in his essay for the catalogue of the 1972 Rietveld exhibition at Hayward Gallery, Kuijer juxtaposes his sculptures and select pieces by Gerrit Rietveld. The result are eleven pairings that each address a different sculptural aspect of Rietveld’s furniture and forge a link between his and Kuijer's work: for both artists the material handling and physical process of making is pivotal and it is indeed surprising to explore similarities and differences in the juxtaposition of both artists’ works.
The accompanying catalogue, published recently by nai010 publishers, goes beyond the exhibition and includes a conversation Kuijer and William Hayward had over the different Rietveld/Kuijer pairings that draws the reader’s attention to the particular aspects connecting the sculptures and furniture pieces. Through it the reader gets to understand that there is much more to the juxtaposition than formal aspects but also materials and construction aspects. Kuijer and Hayward dissect both the sculptures and the Rietveld furniture, an approach that also demonstrates the ingenious construction of many of Rietveld’s pieces as well as his careful treatment of materials.
The juxtaposition of Ruud Kuijer’s sculptures and Gerrit Rietveld’s chairs at first sight might seem arbitrary but in fact offers the opportunity to look at well-known pieces from an unusual and largely unexplored perspective.

We Yadan Steel Furniture, a leading steel furniture manufacturer and exporter, is excited to announce our participation in the 28th China International Furniture Fair. The fair will be held from September 11-15 in Shanghai, and we welcome all visitors to come see us at our booth.
About the Fair
The China International Furniture Fair is a highly anticipated event, with 2,635 global exhibitors from the furniture and home goods industry coming together to showcase their latest products. This year's exhibition marks a long-awaited reunion following years of pandemic-related disruptions.
(Picture not related: it's from the 2020 CIFF)
The fair is expected to draw over 200,000 industry professionals from 160 countries and regions, with a total exhibition space of 320,000 square meters across 18 indoor halls and 26 outdoor halls. The exhibition will be a testament to the Chinese furniture and home goods industry's three-year achievements.
Who Will Attend
In addition to Yadan Steel Furniture, the fair will feature many other notable attendees.
· Chinese Furniture Brands
Chinese furniture brands will take center stage, bringing out their best, including the latest designs, quality products that owned reputation, goods with exquisite craftsmanship and hot-sale items that have gained significant attention. They will show people over the world how China's top-tier home furnishing brands have achieved new heights in design.
(Picture not related: it's us in another industry fair several years ago, but this will likely be how our booth looks like during the exhibition)
· Overseas Brands
The fair will also welcome renowned overseas brands that hold significant importance and bring unique advantages to the industry. Brands like LIGNE ROSET, Actona, FERMOB, KODA COMMUNE, Miyazaki, GROSFILLEX, SERIP, VERDON and others will display their exceptional craftsmanship, innovative designs, and global perspectives. These international participants play a crucial role in promoting cross-cultural exchange and enriching the global furniture market with their expertise.
· Upstream and Downstream Enterprises/Supply Chain Enterprises:
The fair will also host over 700 high-quality supply chain enterprises in the furniture industry. This includes manufacturers of raw materials and components, suppliers of manufacturing equipment and machinery, logistics companies involved in the transportation and warehousing links and retailers who sell finished products to consumers. These supply chain enterprises play a crucial role in the production and distribution of furniture products, and their presence at the fair is a testament to the importance of collaboration and innovation within the industry.
The Venue
The fair will take place across two venues in Shanghai’s vast “fast east area” – the Pudong District: the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) and the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. The exhibition space will be divided into 44 halls, including 18 indoor halls and 26 outdoor halls.
The indoor halls are divided into several sections:
E1-E7 Halls: International brands, modern furniture, and brand design
N1-N4 Halls: Office furniture, custom furniture, cross-border e-commerce, outdoor spaces, and dining tables and chairs
W1-W5 Halls: Sofa brands, sleep/living/bedroom concept halls
In addition to these indoor halls, there are 26 outdoor halls showcasing various furniture and home goods products.
(Picture not related: it's us, with customers, in another industry fair several years ago)
Visitors can expect to see the latest trends and innovations in modern furniture design across a variety of categories, including office furniture, outdoor furniture, sofas, and more. With so many halls and sections to explore, there will be something for everyone at the China International Furniture Fair.

Today I did some non-invasive repair work on a c.1870 folding chair that is going into the Langdon Mansion exhibit. It really needs full conservation treatment but, for now, I just prettied it up for display.
