i've been in this fandom since 2016, so i've seen headcanons and zone culture and terminology of all kinds.

with that said, i'd like to present the official (unofficial) danger days dictionary.

includes everything from zone culture, slang, battery city locations, phoenix witch, even down to bad luck beads and the dust bowl.

for the nitpickers out there, the comics are mainly discarded in this— due to how overwhelming it would be to throw in even MORE overlapping terms and such. some comic characters have been slipped into the regular timeline / universe, just for funsies and a honorary mention. don't come at me, thanks!

I like to think during December/when killjoys think it is, they make a bunch of shitty ornaments and hang them on cacti. You'll see little wood carvings of flowers and animals, dolls of what a 'joy thinks the Phoenix Witch looks like, bandanas they think are real neat, going to steal MouseKat dolls from Battery City to decapitate them and hang them from the arms of a cactus. What the fuck is a biege Christmas? The trashier it looks, the better.

Danny didn’t know what would happen when his parents portal turned on for the first time but this wasn’t it. He accidentally turned it on and the next thing he knew he was in front of this pool of green swirling liquid with this lady named Talia telling him she’d take care of him. The weird thing is he was now half dead with weird ghost powers and he somehow was turned back into a 5 year old. He met a kid the same age as him and the two quickly became inseparable, his name was Damian and even though he was to be the next head of what Danny assumed was a cult, he knew it was but he was in the body of a 5 year old and couldn’t exactly go home like this.

5 years pass and Danny gets sent along with Damian to Gotham to live with Damian’s birth father Bruce Wayne. Danny didn’t want to go at first but Bruce seemed to welcome him with open arms regardless of his background with the league. Everything is going well for the 2 until Danny meets Tim’s secretary, it’s Sam and she absolutely did not know how to handle her now smaller best friend. Tucker is doing an internship at Wayne Tech too.

in the wake of destruction, the brutality of survival is reintroduced to the dwindling human population of the zones. the endless expanse of the desert stretches on, humming with the imminent threat of death either from the burning rays of the unrelenting sun, the hovering clouds of radiation on the horizon, or the unknown threats hiding behind each new post-nuclear dune piling upon a long-gone civilisation. the eat-or-be-eaten nature of the new world draws out a certain carnal aspect of the human nature, and in the depths of desperation and prayers to forgotten gods, rebellion breeds at last.

📻 Good afternoon Motorbabies, we just got a report that Fun Ghoul and The Kobra Kid blew up a batt city droid factory that was making droids of The Kobra Kid, and ghosted a couple pigs on their way out. Batt City is chickening out and putting their whole city on lockdown because of how butthurt they are from a couple of ‘joys blowing their shit up.

I've wrote about this before, though I can't remember if I posted it, but I think that a lot of the Zones' mysticism disappears after Battery City falls. The roads no longer writhe and coil like strange rivers, lost items of the departed no longer appear in strange places as if possesed by a will of their own, the mailboxes fill with unsent mail or vanish altogether alongside pre-war vending machines. The line between the strange and mundane gets demolished along with the rebar and concrete, and the difference is somehow more unsettling than thousands of souls trapped in elecricity or man-eating suburban homes
