+ Broccoli harvesting is going well; I know it's my own, but I honestly believe it's the best tasting broccoli I've ever had
Tumblr media Tumblr media
+ This is Guaraná, a drink originally from Brazil, flavored like the fruit by the same name; it also became popular in Hokkaido (big island up north in Japan), so when we were there I had it and have craved it since; Akina bought me a bunch of different types and I'm slowly trying them
Tumblr media
+ Meal; the fruits were free that someone was giving away that Akina found
Tumblr media Tumblr media
+ There is a type of Japanese bird that eats the leaves off my broccoli plants (and are completely destroying them) and also destroyed all my transplanted spinach and is slowly eating my kale... I've ordered stakes and netting online which should arrive in a week...

+ My penguin continues his daily search for fish...

Yamato & Momo Shuffle Talk Part 2: An Atmospheric Marketplace
Part 1 | Part 3
Momo: Whoa! Now that's one heck of a blue sky!
Momo: And all the buildings and walls surrounding this city are a stylish white! It definitely feels like we've come to an authentic European resort!
Momo: I can even smell the sea~!
Yamato Nikaido: Right...
Momo: Yamato, stop frowning!
Momo: C'mon, chin up! We didn't come all the way over here so you can just stand around, rubbing your butt!
Yamato Nikaido: All that sitting on planes left my ass sore...
Yamato Nikaido: How come you seem fine, anyway?
Momo: I'm a little tired from having to sit on one long flight after the next, too, but seeing this clear blue sky made all my fatigue melt away!
Yamato Nikaido: The weather's really nice, I'll admit. It's a perfect day for a shoot.
Yamato Nikaido: Plus it's warm, but not so warm that we'll have to worry about heat exhaustion.
Momo: Oh! Is that a tinge of excitement I hear in your voice!? Maybe we should take out that photo and see where we're supposed to go.
Yamato Nikaido: Sure, let's get started.
Momo: Ta-dah!
Momo: It's right here in this envelope!
Yamato Nikaido: It's giving me the exact same vibes as a cursed item in an RPG, but you seem to be handling it just like any old parcel.
Momo: It's all about the vibes YOU give off! Let's crack this bad boy open, shall we?
Yamato Nikaido: Yeah. Cursed or not, we gotta open it...
Momo: It's almost like a jack- in-a-box! I wonder what kind of surprise spot we'll get!
Momo: Alright! Here goes nothing!
Yamato Nikaido: Let's see it!
Yamato Nikaido: Hmm..?
Momo: Is this... a marketplace?
Yamato Nikaido: Sure looks like it. I mean, look at all those stalls full of fruits and vegetables. Not to mention the big crowd of people.
Momo: Well I for one didn't see this coming... I thought we'd get to go to the beach, since we're on an island and everything.
Yamato Nikaido: I think a marketplace could be nice and atmospheric, too. It’ll  probably feel very different from the kind  of market you'd go to in Japan.
Yamato Nikaido: Though if it's this full of people, I don't know how we'll be able to take any pictures...
Momo: I'm sure that's all part of the atmosphere, too! ...Ah, these fruits look yummy...
Momo: I wanna buy a bunch of snacks when we get there! They're bound to sell a few local delicacies!
Momo: Let's go on a full-blown food tour of the market!
Yamato Nikaido: I guess it'd be pretty boring if all we did was look around. Let's try and taste as many things as we can.
Momo: Alright! I'm getting excited!
Momo: Let's see if we can find where this marketplace is!
Yamato Nikaido: Maybe we could look it up online.
Momo: Let's both check!
Momo: Hmm, marketplace, marketplace...
Momo: Uh...
Yamato Nikaido: Ah.
Yamato Nikaido: Momo-san, isn't the place in this article our spot?
Momo: Let me see!
Yamato Nikaido: Apparently it's the biggest market on the island, and a popular tourist attraction.
Momo: ...You've got it! It's even got the same parasols and stands!
Yamato Nikaido: Looks like they don't just sell fruits and vegetables, either. They've also got flowers, baked goods, and all kinds of everyday knickknacks.
Yamato Nikaido: We can take a bus from here.
Momo: ...You mean that roundabout over there?
Yamato Nikaido: Uh... Yep, that's the one.
Momo: It was literally right next to us the whole time!!!
Yamato Nikaido: Now we can at least be sure that we won't get lost on the way there.
Momo: Great! Why don't we get it out of the way on our way to the bus stop!?
Yamato Nikaido: "It"?
Momo: Y'know, Ask Anything!
Yamato Nikaido: Oh right, the segment where we ask each other questions. Sure, let's get started!
Momo: ...Aaah, wait!!!
Momo: The bus is already here!
Yamato Nikaido: Oh crap, we gotta run!
Momo: We can save the questions for when we get to the market!
Yamato Nikaido: Sounds good. Now let's catch that bus!
End of Part 2.

Shoot the Ball (Ushijima x Reader) Ko-Fi request
Guuuurl can I please get like a bunch of accidental run in encounters with ushiwaka plssss I feel like he doesn’t get much love
Here’s the problem with a school like Shiratorizawa.
It’s a big school.
Fucking huge.
Massive campus yet elite, trimmed student body with a very personal class average of students to teachers. Private tutors are offered in every nook and cranny of the libraries, and the dorms are luscious and extravagant.
Unknown to many of your classmates but most of your team members are aware, you got into Shiratorizawa on a favor from your childhood kyudo coach and a hefty scholarship you had to claw your way towards over a bunch of other studious bookworms.
You’re the leading star on Shiratorizawa’s kyudo club, the ochi from your tachi group, the last person to shoot, the person who guides the rest of the team. You also hold the position of captain in your third year at Shiratorizawa, and kyudo is all you have ever known and love.
But, but, but, but, at a school like Shiratorizawa where a classic, high performance sport like kyudo, a traditional, beautiful sport like kyudo should be fairly popular, your club and your teammates’ performances are always outshone by more high-energy, easily watchable sports.
Shiratorizawa’s sports expect nothing but the highest level of triumphs from all their divisions. From basketball to dressage on horse, each club is required to perform admirably. If you perform well, the more funding you got for your club, the more prestige, and all good things.
Shiratorizawa’s kyudo club is actually high on the list, last year your team placed first at the Inter High and made it to the top four in nationals. Despite all this, despite the fact that you even scored consecutive kaichus, hitting all your marks and not missing a single arrow, making waves in the kyudo community and getting higher renown for your team, your headmaster still refused to acknowledge your club.
You’d come to him, white headband tied around your head, posters ready, armed and prepared to fight tooth and nail for an increase in funds and a spot at advertisements because if your fellow student body just knew about the sport, more people would join, more people would watch, and your club wouldn’t be in danger of closing down after you graduate or declining—
“It’s just not popular!” your headmaster clapped you over the shoulders himself, beaming. “Keep working hard though! Good job last year!”
Because popular and television-worthy, massive poster worthy, constant overhead announcements in the morning and the afternoon about matches, constant offered opportunities for extra credit, belong to certain sports at Shiratorizawa.
Shiratorizawa’s Boys’ Volleyball team.
Every morning you came to school and stared in disgust, not out of a personal vendetta for the guy, but for his whole damn team for taking the spotlight for the past three years you’d been here at Shiratorizawa, at the giant, blown up poster lining your school’s walls, posted in any classroom you two might have together. He flooded the school’s daily bulletin, online articles, even the god damn konbini near your house when your returned home for the holidays.
Ushijima Wakatoshi.
Volleyball star, playing for Japan’s national youth team—which was something you did drool over because nationals was your goal for kyudo—and even top of all his classes.
You kinda hated this guy and you didn’t even know him.
But it was no matter because this year you planned to take your team all the way to the top. Everyone at this damn rich school was going to known kyudo and love it, damn it. They were going to sing your praises all the way down the halls, line up outside the shooting range to get a peek at your beautiful team and fall in love with the bow.
All the way to the same stage this rich, boastful school’s especial crowning achievment and pride, enough to get them their own stupid bus, enough to get them their own damn gym, enough to get them their own damn cheer squad and—
Your first real, personal meeting with Ushijima Wakatoshi goes something like this:
I don’t need more protein, I need better results. You frowned, staring at the picture of the protein drink you’d been texted that was apparently quite popular these days, according to your fellow teammate. She constantly sang its praises, promising nothing but the best and urging you to start getting into it.
“Your practice schedule is too rigid!” she lectured, shaking her hands at you as you notched another arrow and took aim. “You’re going to shoot arrows till you’re an old maid! No one will marry you at this rate!”
“Kyudo will marry me,” you said, completely serious. “I’m marrying the best kyudo archer of this era and no one else.”
“He’s over fifty!”
“I like them older anyways.”
While normally you would have ignored your vice captain in favor of your own home remedies, your joints were acting up lately, specifically your left wrist and that was never a good sign. You had a feeling the tautness to the new string you were trying to break in wasn’t doing you any favors either. You needed to keep an eye on it in case it got worse.
I can’t bring this team down.
The school’s mini-grocery was fairly empty at this hour. Most students were back at the dorms and anyone still lingering around should’ve just finished with their own club practices.
The rows were designed so items could be taken from either side, not just one. You browsed the aisle, tempted by the choco-snacks but willing yourself to put another batch of fruits in instead. Have to treat my health like second nature. Results don’t come from potato chips.
“Finally,” your eyes zeroed in on the brightly colored bottle. A hefty size, meant to be poured out in cups and drunk daily. You had no idea how it would taste, but by your vice captain’s face, it couldn’t be too great.
You crouched down, reaching for the last bottle on the lowest row.
A massive hand engulfed yours at the top of the bottle’s cap, swallowing your hand whole.
“Holy shit!” you shrieked, ripping your hand away—only to find yourself unable to do so with the massive hand still laid down over yours. You hit the floor on your ass, gaping in horror at the monstrous palm and the calloused fingers and fearing this was finally the moment you were dragged into some abyss by an unknown creature and killed—
Eyes like olives, flecked with gold.
You stared, caught, unable to move for a second. You’d always thought his eyes were brown. You never noticed the weird lining to them that gave them a sharper look, like an eagle or—
“My bad,” Ushijima. Ushijima Wakatoshi said, his voice a deep, resounding rumble in his chest like a goddamn bear.
He crouched there, sitting back on his heels, directly across the aisle from you, peering through the metal shelf like some kind of monster trying to fit through a crack. His massive hand and massive arm barely had to leave his body to reach the same bottle of protein you’d both been shooting for.
Ushijima Wakatoshi.
All at once, the flood of posters assaulted your brain. The blaring announcements, the squealing girls, the headmaster, the volleyball buses with his face printed on the side, the magazines, the articles and—
You blinked, once, twice.
His lips parted.
You ripped your hand out from under his with a hefty amount of force. The action sent you flat on your back and you were sure he’d gotten a front row view of under your skirt but you really didn’t give a crap.
“Have it!” you barked out, awkwardly scrambling to your feet. You grabbed your basket and Ushijima blinked once at you, slowly, face monotonous. “You need it more anyway, jerk!”
You huffed, shoulders puffing up. Ushijima was silent on the other side of the aisle, wordlessly taking the bottle of protein with him as he stood.
You gaped.
HE’S A LIVING TREE.
Your neck actually craned a bit, straining to look up at him and he stared down at you from the top of the aisle.
His arm promptly stuck itself through the gap in the shelf, offering the drink to you.
“I’ll be fine,” he said, voice devoid of emotion. “You should take it.”
For some reason that irked you.
You forcefully—struggling with great difficulty—shoved the drink back to his side through the shelves. Ushijima blinked once, slow down at you and you bared your teeth at him before hoisting your basket up into your arm and storming to the check out where you flew through your wallet, aggressively paying the lady at the counter, nearly running into a smirking redhead at the doorway and rushing the rest of the way to your dorm where people kept asking why you looked so damn mad.
“Who was that?” Tendou chirped, sidling up to Ushijima. “A fan?”
Ushijima stared out the still swinging door and calmly examined the bottle of protein in his hand.
“No,” he said.
“...you gonna continue with the sentence or what?” Tendou prodded.
I hate this time of the year. You frowned, burrowing deeper into your muffler as you fought the early morning chill. Several other students were trudging beside you, sleep in their eyes as you all headed to the regular meeting for club time slots. You always showed up as early as possible to get the best dibs for your club.
You absently kicked a pebble in your way, wondering how you should organize practice this week. You wanted to brush up on your form again and—
Why was everyone looking at you like that?
“Good morning.”
It took you a moment to realize a massive shadow had engulfed your own. You stared at your feet for a moment, rubbing your eyes before slowly turning.
Ushijima Wakatoshi bore down on you, face cast in dark shadows from the early morning darkness, puffs of steam clouding by his mouth where he breathed.
He looked like a monster.
You felt your hackles raise, nearly jumping out of your sneakers as you started to backpedal away from him, “Hah?”
“Good morning,” Ushijima said, looking completely unfazed by the crack of dawn and cold.
You continued to hurry backwards toward the gym while barking back at him as Ushijima took calm steps forward—since you were both headed the same way—every three of your steps one of his own.
To anyone else, it looked as though a bear were advancing on a chihuahua.
“G-Good morning to you too!” you snapped. “Bye!”
“What?” Ushijima asked.
“I said bye you—”
“We’re still headed the same way.”
“Stop following me then!”
 - - - - - - - -
You smirked, hefting the pile of posters into your arms. This was it, this was going to work for sure. No way anyone could ignore the please join flyers if you were pinning them up all around the school, and the team had worked hard to make it stand out and eye catching, appealing to all genders and interests.
Your wrist was starting to bother you a bit, so you shifted the papers to the other arm. I got careless trying to get the bow turn again. I need to slow it down and ice it tonight.
Who says we’re last on the funding list? You grinned, grabbing your tape. They can’t ignore us with a bunch of members—
“Good afternoon.”
You screeched, dropping your stack of flyers onto your foot. They scattered the hallway.
Ushijima calmly turned his gaze downwards, staring at the colorfully illustrated flyers now flooding both your feet.
Join the kyudo club!
“You,” you snapped, urging your heart to calm and shoving your tape back into your pocket. You hurried, grabbing the flyers and restacking them as he stood, towering above you. “What the heck do you want? Do you get some kind of kick out of scaring people or—”
In one smooth, swift motion, Ushijima had crouched down beside you. You stared, gaping in disbelief as his large hands—he has such big hands, I’ve never seen anyone with hands that big, this guy is all muscle and—moved across the floor, gathering up the papers in one fell swoop. His bangs shifted slightly over the slight furrow of his brows.
Ushijima looked at you, quiet, somber, unreadable as he carefully put your stack back together.
He looked weird in the school uniform. You were so used to seeing him in his volleyball one. He seemed like a different person. Oh, you’re the type that leaves the first button undone.
“I did not mean to scare you,” he said, slow, with that rumbling voice of his. It sent a timbre down your spine.
Ushijima remained silent, staring calmly at you, seemingly content with the silence.
“Y-Yeah, well,” you started. “My bad then.”
You quickly stood, lifting your stack. You stared down at Ushijima for once as he calmly looked up at you and promptly ran off without another word, unable to figure out the weird awkwardness that sat on your tongue whenever you dealt with him.
I mean, it’s not like I really… hate him right?
Why the hell am I running into him so much?
You just needed to shoot some arrows and you’d feel a lot better.
-----------
You shot too many arrows.
You frowned at your throbbing wrist, giving it a look of utter betrayal. The nurse had said to give her a few minutes for her to come back with some pain killers. You were only in the infirmary this time because the pain had gotten to a point where you’d actually dropped your bow in the middle of a draw.
Prelims are coming up. You glared harder at your wrist. You just needed to ice it and you’d feel better. I can’t let them down.
You were taking them straight to the top and then it’d be kyudo posters this school would see, not just stupid Ushijima’s face and—
“(L/n)-san.”
You screeched, nearly toppling off your stool. Your wrist smacked into the counter and you hissed in pain, tears pricking the corner of your eyes.
Ushijima stood in the doorway of the infirmary, staring at you with furrowed brows.
Why him, why now? You grunted in greeting, gingerly rubbing your throbbing wrist, turning away from him toward the window.
You heard the door close behind him, focusing all your attention on anything else to ignore the massive presence behind you.
“What happened?”
WHY IS HE TALKING TO ME.
“Oh, this and that,” you said simply, vaguely, struggling to find better words. You… you really didn’t hate this guy personally or anything, but it was personal at the same time? You didn’t know how you felt about him and it was making you confused.
You hated being confused.
Ignoring any and all other social cues, Ushijima took a seat on the stool beside you, back and posture impeccable. His hands calmly set on his knees. His volleyball uniform like second skin against his form, revealing nothing but miles of muscle and hardwork.
You stared at him in disbelief.
Ushijima faced forward, face unreadable.
….okay. You awkwardly glanced to the side, rubbing at your wrist. Way to make it even more awkward. Does this guy not socialize much or what?
“Uh,” no! Don’t talk to him! Just keep your mouth shut! “What happened to you?” you said awkwardly.
Ushijima’s face relaxed an inch. You blinked in surprise.
“My knee,” he said. “Coach made me go get it checked out.”
“...me too,” you said. He looked at you. You looked away. “Not my knee, I mean. My wrist. My vice captain will have my head if I didn’t. I told her I could just ice it.”
“You should be more careful,” Ushijima said.
You looked at him. He looked at you.
“I’m sorry?”
“You do not need to apologize.”
You stared.
Ushijima motioned to your wrist, not taking his eyes off your face, “Your fans would be disappointed if you were unable to perform.”
“I-I’m sorry?”
“You do not need to apologize,” Ushijima said again, shaking his head. You gaped at him. “I would be disappointed. I wish to see your kaichu again.”
Your brain short-circuited. You were left to dumbly look at Ushijima. He seemed to take pity on you and turned fully on his stool, several heads taller, looking down at you before he calmly said—
“I am a fan of your archery.”
The two of you sat there in silence.
Steam shot out of your ears as your face exploded into red. Ushijima watched in silence as you toppled over your stool and back onto the ground.

🎉[HAPPY NEWS]🎉 #JewelieBday2020⠀
Tumblr media
Dear Jewelie, following your amazing “Happy News” reports, this year we also want to celebrate your special day by sharing our “Happy News” back to you!  📰
WISHING YOU THE HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY!  🍰 🎈
- Your worldwide Co-MYV family from Planet Earth.
--------------------------------------------------------
From: Aunty Ku Country: Malaysia Dear my lovely Jewelie~ I have a son one year younger than you, thus, seeing you grow healthy and happily makes me happy. Like a cotton flower, you bloom beautifully and continue to bring happiness to my heart as I wait for the flower to turn into a boll, and then into a bur that reveals the cotton fiber.
Tumblr media
You probably didn't know this, but Malaysia is not a country where people believe the cotton plant can grow commercially. My country focuses more on rubber tree and palm oil tree. Therefore, planting cotton trees is a little bit strange to Malaysians, especially on layman's side. However, the cotton tree is a quite a resilient type of plant. At my home, given enough nutrition and water and suitable soil, it can live all year long and bear fruits with lots of quantity twice a year! And they have lived in my garden for almost two years now! I watch them grow, learn about their sicknesses, and learn most of the insects and critters that visited them, eat them or made them as their nesting ground or home. Discovering new things, seeing new creatures is also my own kind of happiness.
Tumblr media
You see Jewelie, sometimes happiness doesn’t come instantly. Sometimes you have to wait for it patiently, invest your time, your energy and your financial resources to make your dreams come true. However, there will be times when happiness doesn’t come, when though you have achieved something, sometimes it came when you have some sense of relief and security. Your heart is at ease, as some people would say.
However! Some happiness can also be bought thru shopping. Like this one here:
Tumblr media
This is takli. It is used as a tool to spin fiber into yarn. From the yarn thread, we can either crochet it, or knit it, or weave it to turn the yarn into fabric for clothing items or household items like a blanket, cushion cover, and other stuff. I couldn't find it anywhere in my country as spinning the cotton fiber and turn them into yarn is also a strange practice in my country. I've been waiting for this little guy for almost two months since I last ordered it. Due to covid19, postage has been delayed. And finally 2 days ago (14/10/2020) it arrived safely at my home
That is all I wanted to share with you today. Happy birthday Jewelie.
May you grow into an amazing person, whom love and cherish her parents until the end of their lives, and achieve all of your dreams. May life is kind to you and provide you enough.
Sincerely yours,  - Ku Shairah Jazahanim -16 Oct 2020

🎈 HAPPY NEWS 🎈
Hello, princess!
"ありがとう" is a universal word that brings people a little happiness.
In the shop an old woman said to me, "I want that item there."
I handed it to her and she happily said "ありがとう" over and over again. It made me smile too.
When a kind little action makes someone else happy, it makes me happy too. It's always in our lives. And we can all be happy if we don't forget to say "ありがとう(Thank you)" to each other.

From: Becca Country: USA
Jewelie,
Hello Jewelie! My name is Becca and I am from Tucson, Arizona. I am 21 years old and am a senior here at my local university, the University of Arizona! I am also part of our school’s marching band, which we traditionally play at our home football games. Sadly, this year though, we are not allowed to play at any of our games because of COVID-19 and our sports conferences not allowing us or fans to enter the stadium.
This being said though, one bit of ‘good news’ that I would like to share with you is that we have been able to schedule our 67th Annual Band Day virtually AND have it available for people nation-wide since it’s online! Band Day is an event we traditionally hold in-person at our football stadium and have around 40 high school marching bands from around the state compete. This year will be a little different, seeing as it will be held virtually and they cannot compete, however it will be equally as exciting! Especially seeing as we can still share our passion for music and the marching arts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope this finds you very well, and I hope you have a wonderful birthday! You deserve the best birthday ever, and the love you receive every day! <3 <3

From: Maura Country: USA
Happy Birthday Jewelie! Since I know that the environment is important to you, I wanted to share some HAPPPPY NEWWWWWS about the environment in honor of your birthday!
“Singaporean Government Plans to Plant One Million Trees by 2030”
The government of Singapore has announced a plan to plant one million native trees by the year 2030, with the goal of helping endangered species thrive and ensuring that every resident of Singapore lives, “no more than ten minutes from a park”. Although Singapore is a small nation, their ecosystem is rich and precious. By planting these trees, they will provide habitats for “numerous birds, reptiles and plants” which may face extinction. These trees will also help fight pollution and improve air quality for Singapore.
Tumblr media
I think that the Singaporean government has a great idea, and I hope that other governments follow suit, and create even more plans to help our planet!
Wishing you a joyful birthday full of happiness and love! From your CoMiyavi Auntie, Maura (News Source: https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/singapore-to-plant-1-million-trees-bringing-parks-to-people/)

From: Betty Country: Italy/Ethiopia
Hello Jewelie,
Here is a CoMYV aunty writing to you from Italy, but the happy news I want to share with you is from my home-country Ethiopia (somewhere  in the Horn of Africa).
I also did some research like you & this news was something that made me happy in this past weeks. Following sustainable development & clean energy, Ethiopia is now on the final stage of the long awaited start of “The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam" on the Blue Nile.
Tumblr media
It is set to become the largest hydropower plant in Africa, providing renewable energy for many people, and helping them to greatly improve their daily life. This made me really happy and hopeful for the future of my country. It was big celebration in Ethiopia too, also because the rainy season this year helped this first stage to be completed in a shorter amount of time. They saw it as a good sign from Mother Nature!
Once we will be able to travel again safely, I hope you will keep visiting many places around the world, noticing the beautiful diversity that also connects us. Remember that you have all of us, a bunch of comyv family ready to welcome you.
Happy Happy Birthday to you, wishing you just happiness. መልካም ልደት
CoMYV love from Betty/Kanmisa
(News Source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/interactive/2020/grand-ethiopian-renaissance-dam-egypt-nile/) -------------------------------------------------------- From: Sarah Country: USA
Dear Jewelie,
I want to wish you the happiest of birthdays. Thank you for participating in the Ishihara family lives, and for always sharing such HAPPY NEWS with us! Your heart is so big and you are such bright light in this world, bringing so much joy to all of us!
I have a bit of personal “happy news” that I wanted to share with you, and hope it puts a smile on your face - recently, my family adopted a puppy! She is a sweet girl we named “Lucky”, because we are lucky to have her, and she is lucky to have a home now. Every day she is growing big and strong, and she is a super smart dog! We enjoy teaching her tricks like “sit” and “paw”, and she really likes to play fetch with her ball.
Tumblr media
Some interesting facts about American Pit Bull Terriers: they are super friendly and have a goofy personality; they’re great as therapy and emotional wellness dogs; they have a great sense of smell and are often used for search & rescue and other sniffing jobs; they are very muscular and athletic and can jump very high; they are wonderful family dogs and used to be known as “nanny” dogs because they love children so much.
Tumblr media
She is bringing lots of joy to our family since we are all working and learning from home this year. I think we also bring her lots of happiness by giving her a warm and loving home.
I’m thankful for the virtual connections we all have in these times, and I look forward to the day that friends and family can celebrate and enjoy time together again. Please take care, stay safe, and keep smiling! Remember, we are always under the same beautiful sky!
Happy Birthday Jewelie! ❣️
Much love from your CoMYV Aunty, Sarah --------------------------------------------------------
We hope you keep looking for HAPPY NEWS every day!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEWELIE!

A handy cheatsheet guide to determining if, truly, what you have poppin' out of your local stump are oyster mushrooms or a close relative. While oysters are a good beginner mushroom to forage they do have a number of look-alikes, most of which are also edible mushrooms. However, a few are mildly toxic and should be avoided, and it's always smart to exactly which mushrooms you're eating, oyster or edible relative. Key Pleurotus ostreatus (True Oyster or Winter Oyster) traits: -Always grows from wood, typically hardwoods that still retain some of their bark layers. -Grows out in flat, gilled shelves in dense clusters that often share a stem. -Pale gills, from pure white to cream colored, which run in parallel down the visible stem portion. -Thick, substantial cap flesh and meaty stems which are almost always off-center. Most of the time, oyster mushroom caps and stems will be shelf-like, with no gills developing on the back side at all (this might be different if the mushroom is growing straight up from the top of a log or stump. -Spore print of oysters is always white. -Unusual but pleasant aroma, most similar to aniseseed. -Cap color is usually tan or grey, with a variance in darkness and hue. The cap will always be darker than the stem and gills. -Large size, usually the mature, flattened out caps will be no smaller than 2 inches across. Pleurotus pulmonarius, also known as the Summer Oyster, is a close cousin and is also a very choice edible. The differences are: -Summer species can only be found in, you guessed it, summer months. -Cap is usually somewhat paler than the Winter Oyster. -Prefers growing from the top side of logs and stumps, maturing into almost tubular fan-shaped mushrooms. It is overall a longer stemmed mushroom that does not spread out to as wide a shelf. Another oyster species, not pictured, is the Golden Oyster (Pleurotus citrinopileatus), which is identical to Summer Oysters except for its lovely golden color. Oyster mushrooms, after the common Button Mushroom and Shiitakes, are one of the most often cultivated species in the world with growing them in straw substrate in greenhouses the most common method. They are even reported to thrive in and sprout from old spent coffee grounds! Kits can even be bought online where everyday mushroom lovers can grow huge tufts of tasty 'shrooms from a box indoors. Most cultivated oysters are the winter species, Pleurotus ostreatus. There are plenty of relatives and mimics to Oyster Mushrooms found growing on various types of wood throughout the world, and in the interests of celebrating them and foraging safety I have included illustrations of them on the right side of the page as well. Late Fall Oyster/Olive Oysterling: This mushroom is an edible and medicinal mushroom, most commonly foraged for food in Japan where it is known as Mukitake, though it can be found across the entire northern hemisphere in temperate forests. It is extremely oyster-like in shape and growing habits, and typically appears in, you guessed it, late fall (and sporadically in winter warm spells). They are frequently enjoyed by deer and squirrels as a food source in winter. Panellus serotinus identification traits: -Oyster-like cap and stem arrangement, with branching shelves of caps being the common growth pattern. -Cap color is usually a faint olivey green, though it can also be brownish or tan. -Gills are cream-colored and run to the stem where they attach. Unlike Oysters, the gills do not run all the way down the stem. -Stem is thick and stubby, often branching to form multiple caps. -Typically smaller than an Oyster mushroom, cap size between 1 and 1.5 inches across. -Spore print is cream colored, buff, or light tan. Crepidotus species: Crepidotus species, often referred to as "Creps", are generally not regarded as edible though none are known to be dangerous. They can often be mistaken for small oyster mushrooms by novice foragers but there are many observable differences between the two genera. Pictured is the most common Crep in the Eastern U.S., Crepidotus mollis or Crepidotus crocophyllus, the Hairy Crep which has very obvious wiry hairy structures on the cap and a pale orange to yellow cap. Crepidotus identification traits: -Typically grows on more degraded wood, sometimes nearly disintegrated stumps. -Colors range by species: can be white, tan, light orange, or yellowish. -Almost never grows in clusters, more often in single caps scattered across the log or stump. -Never has a visible stem, but instead attaches directly to the wood. -Many have a slightly hairy or scaly cap skin which is easy to peel from the cap flesh. -Cap flesh itself is very thin and insubstantial, watery. -Gills are typically yellowish colored and do not run parallel. Instead, they all originate from a single central point where the cap is attached to the wood. -Typically do not exceed 2 inches in cap width. -Spore prints are orange-brown to brown, never white. Elm Oyster (Hypsizygus ulmarius): A pleasant edible mushroom that was once categorized as a true Oyster species, it has since been rightfully given its own genus. The Elm Oyster is always found on dead or dying Elm trees and from a distance looks exactly like a Winter Oyster. However, up close it has a few distinguishing characteristics. Hypsizygus ulmarius identification traits: -Always on elm wood, usually dying elms or recently dead trees. -Has an off-center stem which is fleshy, tough, and pale in color with faint vertical striations running down it. -Has pale, cream-colored gills which run slightly down the stem. -Always lacks a stem ring (annulus). -The tan cap, which tends to crack with age and lack of humidity, is slightly convex to flattened. Often has a few small scales or hairs on its surface. -Often grows in cluster, though from individual stems that do not branch. Ghost Mushroom (Omphalotus nidiformis): A toxic mushroom that may be mistaken for Oysters or Elm Oysters in its native regions of Southeast Asia and Australia, but more important to learn lately due to spots of invasive populations in the rest of the world. This fungi is interesting for its non-culinary properties, for while it is toxic it is also a bio-luminescent species that glows a wonderful lime green color in the dark. It is a close relative of the bright yellow-orange Jack-o-lantern Mushroom, Omphalotus olearius--which is also toxic and bio-luminescent! Omphalotus nidiformis identification traits: -Grows on degraded wood most often. -Has a mostly-central stem. Often grows in branching clusters, but never in shelf-like clusters. -Cap flattens rapidly with age, often becoming upturned at the edges. -Cap is whitish in color, typically with a dark stained area towards the center. -Gills are pale and run down the stem somewhat. -Glows in the dark. -Lacks an annulus (stem ring). -Spore print color is white. Angel Wing (Pleurocybella porrigens): Well now... this would have to be my first "controversial mushroom" I cover, as it has sparked some fear due to recent deaths attributed to it in Japan, where it is known as Sugihiratake. To date over 40 people, all in Japan, have reported severe poisoning symptoms after consuming this species of mushroom. However, especially in the Pacific Northwest, this species is foraged and consumed with no incident. I'm not convinced this is the "deadly toxic mushroom" often warned about in top ten lists... I'm actually pretty sure this is an edible mushroom with possibly a high number of allergic people or a variant population in Japan only which is toxic. Another theory is that a certain locality of these Angel Wings is contaminated somehow, and the mushroom is picking up the toxic contaminants. I'm going to go forward saying this is an edible species, provided a forager uses caution and avoids specimens gathered in Japan specifically. Pleurocybella porrigens identification traits: -A purely white mushroom, growing in oyster-like, ruffled shelves with very little to no stems. -Very wide caps with thin flesh, similar to a Crepidotus. -Found often in late summer months. -If it has a short stem, the closely-bunched gills will run down it similar to an Oyster mushroom. -Typically found growing on conifer trees and wood, not hardwoods. -Spore print is white. -Caps are typically smaller than Oysters, between 1 and 2 inches wide (though some have been found as large as 4 inches wide). -Faint, mossy aroma which is sometimes sweet (not like aniseseed). Mock Oyster (Phyllotopsis nidulans): A beautiful but toxic mushroom that is sometimes mistaken for oyster mushrooms by very inexperienced foragers. While it does have a similar growth pattern to Oysters and fruits at the same time, it is rather distinct from true Pleurotus or any of its mimics. Never eat this fungus as it is known to be quite toxic, causing vomiting and painful cramps that may last for 48 hours or more. Phyllotopsis nidulans identification traits: -Pale yellow to bright orange mushroom growing from degraded wood of all types. -Branching, thick stems and growing in large clusters. Sometimes the stems are so fused that they sprout multiple caps from each other rather than the stems. -Sometimes has a foul smell, particularly when it grows in abundance. -Top of the cap has at least one thickly hairy zone (an Oyster will never have hairs on the cap!). -Gills run to the stem, but do not run all the way down it. -Spore print color is pale pink. Happy oyster foraging, and remember the safe mycophage's motto: "When in doubt, throw it out!"

Rain, I ask you: ALL the quarantine asks!
Animated character that was your gay awakening? not really an ‘awakening’ so much as a ‘hint’, but Azula from Avatar: the Last Airbender ... yep
Grilled cheese or PB&J? GRILLED CHEESE
What show/YouTube video(s) do you put on in the background when you when you don’t have anything to watch but you want something on? I don’t really experience this mood, but my go-to watch is the vlogbrothers YouTube channel
Your go-to bar order, if you drink? if it’s a low-key/work outing, lager or cider (esp the ones with non-apple fruits too); if it’s getting more serious (lol) or with closer friends or a more celebratory mood: vodka with sparkling apple juice
What’s your favorite pair of shoes that you own? these Doc Martens that are white with red hearts got ’em with my first ever full time design job paycheck. i did not take care of them well so they’re super scuffed/beat-up and very much not Perfectly White ... but they’re still comfy as heck, i still love the design, and they’ve lasted 3 years so far, let’s see how much longer we can make it ... also i think they’re a limited edition so i likely won’t get my hands on any replacements...
Top three cuisines? my cheap-ass answer would be, like: East Asian, South-East Asian, Western European ... but my non-shit answer is... Japanese, Chinese, Italian (ftr i’m not a seafood fan ... i just love the ramen and non-seafood stuff that japan makes hehe)
What was your first word as a child (that wasn’t a variation of “Mom” or “Dad”)? i have no clue
What’s a job that you’ve had that people might be surprised to find out you’ve had? cold-calling strangers to ask them to do market research phone surveys (y)
Look up. What’s directly across from you? the kitchen
Do you own any signed books/memorabilia in general? i have a messenger bag that i got signed by Jeph Jacques of the Questionable Content webcomic that i once adored ... and I think my boyfriend has gifted me a signed Matthew Reilly hardcover.
Preferred way to spend a rainy day? curled up indoors wearing something cosy, reading and eating something delicious. playing animal crossing lol. aaaaand listening to music, a good podcast, watching stand-up comedy, drawing, getting intoxicated...
What do you get on your bagels? What WOULD you get if you had access to anything you wanted? occasionally the standard smoked salmon and cream cheese, but i slightly prefer the meat to be, like, prosciutto
Brunch or midnight snacks? ehh fuck it, both???? both!!
Favorite mug you own easter limited edition waitrose mug, squat and round and yellow, painted/shaped like a very round chick. a Borb,,,,
What coffee drink would you describe yourself as? i actually thought about this and, uh, peppermint mocha. not for everyone, slightly weird, never fitting in with the regulars/being a default, but???? obviously awesome?? also: about 65% on the mainstream/hipster scale
Pick a song lyric to describe your current mood (and drop the name and artist!) The Wombats is the artist. lyrics are either “Let's dance to Joy Division / and celebrate the irony / Everything is going wrong, / but we're so happy” from Let’s Dance to Joy Division or “the edge of nowhere’s such a beautiful place” from Emoticons
Fruity or herbal teas? herbal but i agree with @queenofslime, black tea is the best
What’s that one TV show that you’re a little bit embarrassed to watch but you still like nonetheless? ...do i experience embarrassment about what i like to watch on TV? i don’t know if i do, because i watch relatively few shows ... and have relatively little shame? maybe???
That book you were forced to read for class but actually ended up enjoying? ftr i wasn’t bitter about this before reading, i had no preconceived biases against, and i was pretty open to liking it -- The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
Do you match your socks? if they’re of a really nice design then yes always, if they’re of a more standard/generic design then ... not necessarily
Have you ever been horseback riding? yes a few times ... on the last time which was like five years ago ... the lady said i was a natural and asked if i’d ridden much before, which was. flattering. and yes this is a Brag.
What was your “phase” when you were younger? (i.e., Mythology Nerd, Horse Girl, Space Geek, etc) didn’t have much of a hardcore phase but i was pretty much always into fantasy ... oh wait yeah i did! i had a spy phase :)
Have you ever been to jail? to closed-down ones, yep
What’s your opinion on Lazy Susan’s (the spinning tray in the middle of tables)? pretty great idea unequivocably, right?
Puzzles? i tend to enjoy riddles/lateral thinking puzzles, i am impartial about jigsaw puzzles. i enjoy escape rooms.
You can only have one juice for the rest of your life, what is it? apple ... but elderflower if i’m feeling reckless (y)
What section do you immediately head for when you walk into a bookstore? young adult ... or stationery
What’s one thing you’re trying to learn/relearn in your downtime right now? Russian language :( it’s going не так хорошо
Who’s your go-to musical artist when you’re feeling upbeat? not sure if i have a go-to artist so much as go-to playlists i’ve made but some good ones are The Wombats and Bastille
Where could someone find you in a museum? mammals/birds in natural history
What’s that one outfit in your closet you never get the chance to wear but want to? i swear i was talking about this recently but i clean the fuck forgot what it was ... oh yeah, i have this short-sleeved black minidress festooned with silver buckles/buttons and also featuring decorative suspenders ... which, yes, does make me look like a sexy military officer,,, anyway it’s pretty badass and somehow it hasn’t occurred to me till now that i can just wear that every day now if i want? ftw i do get the chance to wear it, it’s just a little bit Extra so i get self-conscious. i’ve worn it a few times though. including to work. because fuck it, right? i didn’t become a graphic designer to be shy about sometimes looking like a prototypical emo/scene kid-turned-adult??? (ftr i was never an actual emo/scene kid. i lacked the requisite guts, commitment of feeling, and permissive parents.)
Rainbows, stars, or sunset colored clouds? sunset-coloured clouds :)
If you could own any non-traditional pet (dogs, cats, fish, rodents, etc), what would it be? how about a shapeshifting feathered dragon that could range from, like, two thirds of a foot long (20cm) to sit on your shoulder, to ... the size of a massive draft horse? (but longer and thinner)
Do you have more art on your walls or more photographs? photos, though if i didn’t live with a partner, it might be art
You have to get one meme tattooed on your body, what meme is it and where does it go? i’ve already got a meme tattooed on my body ... a private meme i have with my boyfriend, one on each leg (left: outer side, just above knee; right: outside, a few inches above the ankle)

Pick an old-school Disney Channel Original Movie i don’t think i.....know any????
Are you a “Quote that relates to the photos” caption-er, an “explanation of where I took the photos” caption-er, or a no caption kinda person when you post pictures online? explanation, though on instagram quite often the photo and caption are unrelated
Name a classic Vine there’s only one thing worse than a rapist...
What’s the freezer food that you stock up on when you go to the grocery store? dumplings! as in the gyoza type.
How do you top your ice cream? that ‘magic’ chocolate sauce that hardens into chocolate. that stuff. i watched those ads all childhood long but my parents were immigrants and therefore very thrifty so we NEVER bought it iirc and then in my adulthood i got it a bunch of times. but now i live in the uk and can’t find it. and forgot it existed. and have never seen it anywhere.

How are you at climbing trees? not............ good. i mean, i like climbing, but i have absolutely terrible upper body strength. i did bouldering for a couple months but only stuck to the first like... three out of nine difficulty levels.

a covidsation with yufi
Next up in this interview series is Yufi, local plur-core/EDM band. They just released their self-titled album, which is available on Bandcamp and Spotify. Check em out !! Dance to them in yr bedroom !!
Tumblr media
Lola Gil: Tell me about your band. How long have y’all been playing together? How would you describe your sound?
Todd Maegerle: I usually describe Yufi as “plur-core”, but apparently that’s not very descriptive lol. Most people would describe the album we just released as a mix of screamo and y2k throwback electronic/trance/digital hardcore/drum and bass. Yufi has been a project for about three years, but has gone through some pretty significant transformations (started as a math rock project lol).
LG: As an artist, how have you been affected by COVID-19? How was your most recent tour affected?
TM: We had planned a tour that would send us down the west coast, over to Austin, TX for SXSW, then up through Santa Fe, Denver, SLC, etc. back to Seattle. We planned the tour to start on Wednesday, March 11th. Those first couple weeks of March seemed to be when the whole COVID-19 thing really picked up. Two days before our tour was supposed to start, we made the decision to cancel all except the west coast leg. It was a really hard decision to make because we had already exchanged hundreds of messages/emails to artists, venues, showcases for SXSW, etc to make what was looking like a super fun tour. At that point in early March, there were so many unknowns. “Is the COVID-19 panic going to die down in the next week or so?” was a tough question to answer at that exact moment (which seems really silly now lol).
The west coast leg of the tour was super fun, but it was also an apocalypse tour haha. Shows we were really looking forward to playing were getting cancelled while we were driving to that city to play. Attendance was fairly bleak with only a couple exceptions. I think the last show of the tour had something like 80 tickets sold in advance and maybe 10 non-artists actually showed up. We were playing a warehouse in downtown LA, and when we showed up the city was an absolute ghost town. It was surreal. All-in-all it ended up being a really fun west coast run, but also was maybe one of the worst times to start a tour haha.
LG: Is Yufi planning on putting out new merch or music soon?
TM: Quarantine is great for writing new music! I could see it being pretty hard for more traditional bands who get everyone in a room and jam-out a new track, but Yufi has become computer music for the most part, so we kinda just have more free time to work on stuff. But also, I personally get a lot of inspiration to write music by attending shows. When I see a performer I really like, I’ll get really motivated and inspired to work on new stuff. So that’s been happening less since all shows are cancelled :^{
LG: How have you been personally affected by COVID? What has your quarantine experience been so far?
TM: I’m pretty extroverted, so being unable to go out and interact with friends has been hard. Fortunately I live with five really super homies; quarantine would be a lot harder for me if I didn’t have anyone to goof around with in-real-life. Still, I really miss going out and dancing and meeting people and all that. The online music festivals have been fun, but experiencing them through Second Life/IMVU/Minecraft/etc is not quite substitutable for actual live music.
LG: What music have you been listening to recently? What has been your go-to quarantine album?
TM:I’ve honestly almost exclusively been listening to live streams. Like, Charli XCX going live on Grindr’s Instagram to do a DJ set? Yeah I think I’ll tune in. A group/collective/entity called “Hurt-free Network” has been putting on really fun IMVU raves with DJ sets from artists I really like. There’s also a 48+ hour long music festival happening right now called Data Fruits; most of the artists are from the west coast USA or Japan, so when one country is (mostly) asleep the other can take over the stream. So even though I really miss going to shows, it’s been pretty awesome to see how people are still coming together in some form!
LG: Were there any spring shows that you were particularly looking forward to attending that got cancelled?
TM: Yessss ughhhhh way too many :’^{Anamanaguchi, Yves Tumor, 100gecs, Dorian Electra, and a bunch more. Fortunately I saw a couple of them last year, so that eases the pain a little bit. But if I don’t see Ecco2k in 2020 I’m literally going to scream. I’m not gonna make it.
LG: How do you think the Seattle music scene is going to shift post-COVID?
TM: Every musician is going to be a DJ after quarantine and it’s going to be sick. Jokes aside, I think we’re going to need a lot of people to come together to make up for the impact that COVID has made. A lot of venues that are vital to the Seattle music scene are going to have to close doors as a result of the financial hit they’ve taken. I think there will be a lot of artists excited to play shows once it’s safe to, but I’m hoping there will be venues still around to host.
LG: How do you think artists can support each other during these weird and difficult times?
TM: This is not artist exclusive, but everyone can email their Seattle city council member to enact a rent/mortgage moratorium. That could help lessen the financial burden that COVID has created, which would certainly help artists (and everyone lol).
Aside from that, I feel like I’ve seen a lot of artists supporting each other by listening to and sharing each other’s new releases, tuning into each others live streams, etc. I hope to see more of that in the coming months!

Ryunosuke Tsunashi Twelve Hits Rabbit Chat Part 3: Request Hits 2
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 4 | Part 5
Nagi: Has everyone returned? If so, let us resume gathering requests for Tsunashi-shi!
Nagi: └(o゜∀゜o)┘ Wasshoi!
Tsumugi: Nagi-san! You seem to be in a much better mood now, which means..!
Mitsuki: The recording was still safe, lol It was just on a different disk from usual!
Nagi: I am terribly sorry to have kept you all waiting. However, my heart is now quivering with joy.
Ryunosuke: I'm happy for you, Nagi-kun! You really love that show, so it's great that you can watch it whenever you want.
Nagi: Tsunashi-shi, your kindness is truly indiscriminate.
Ryunosuke: Is it? That's nice to hear!
Nagi: I am also grateful to you, Yamato and Mitsuki.
Yamato: Thanks, buddy.
Mitsuki: I'm just glad you're back to normal, lol
Tsumugi: Now that the recording has been found safe and sound, let's resume the requests!
Tsumugi: Mitsuki-san, let's hear your request for Tsunashi-san!
Mitsuki: Gotcha!
Mitsuki: Mine is that he tells us something he wants to do with our sports club!
Mitsuki: Tsunashi-san's birthday's coming up, so we'll agree to do whatever he wants!
Momo: Yep! We're gonna pamper him good ☆
Ryunosuke: I don't think I want that... Sports just doesn't feel good if your opponent is letting you win, lol
Momo: Don't worry! We're not gonna go easy on you at all, lol
Mitsuki: We'll pamper you by putting up a real fight!
Ryunosuke: Now that sounds good!
Ryunosuke: But it's no different from  what we always do.
Momo: Now that you mention it! (ノ゜o゜)ノ
Mitsuki: Maybe we could randomly praise your skills even though we're having a super serious match and all glaring at each other, lol
Ryunosuke: That would only make it creepier! lol
Mitsuki: Fair enough, lololol
Mitsuki: We get together so often that it feels like we've pratically tried everything there is to try. I still wanna try something new, though.
Ryunosuke: It's a pretty high hurdle! I want to try something new with you guys, too.
Ryunosuke: I'll look around online and try to come up with something.
Mitsuki: Okay! That sounds good!
Tsumugi: Your sports club always seems like a lot of fun!
Tsumugi: Yamato-san, you're next!
Yamato: Mine's to do a free talk where you say the opposite of what people expect.
Ryunosuke: Huh! Like what?
Yamato: It's a game where I give you prompts, and you have to say the opposite of what you think or feel about that thing.
Yamato: The listeners don't know what your prompt is. They can try to figure it out while listening, and you'll reveal the correct answer once you're done. How's that sound?
Iori: Interesting. So it'll be a psychological game, like Werewolf.
Yamato: Something like that. I thought it'd be fun if the listeners could play a game with the host.
Yamato: Tsunashi-san's a pretty honest guy, so I like to think he's a bad liar. Doesn't that make it even more fun?
Ryunosuke: It sounds difficult, but I want to give it a try!
Yuki: I'm not sure you can handle it
Ryunosuke: O-of course I can! I think..!
Gaku: Let's test it. Your prompt is fresh soba.
Mitsuki: October's the perfect time for fresh soba, after all!
Iori: Now I'm in the mood for some soba.
Ryunosuke: Got it. All I need to do is say the opposite of what I'm really thinking, right?
Yamato: Let's see what you've got.
Ryunosuke: Um, it's a foreign dish that's short, fat, and served without broth.
Sogo: Well done!
Yuki: Not bad for your first try
Ryunosuke: I don't like the flavor very much. It's a real letdown whenever I have to eat it for lunch.
Gaku: Ryu... Did you really hate soba all along..?
Ryunosuke: N-no, of course not! It's the opposite, remember! Aren't you the one who came up with this prompt..!?
Gaku: Oh, right (lol)
Tenn: I can't believe you forgot so fast.
Ryunosuke: Um, I'm not sure what I should say next. Now I'm all confused..!
Ryunosuke: Maybe I really am bad at this.
Ryunosuke: Yamato-kun on the other hand is really good at games like Cheat or Werewolf! Whenever we play, I always lose to him...
Yamato: You're easy to read, so it's fun to play with you (lol) Especially since I'm pretty good at reading people to begin with.
Ryunosuke: Ugh, you're too tough to beat..!
Tamaki: I suck at lying, too
Tamaki: When I'm the werewolf, I get caught right away
Yamato: It's so easy to see through Tama and Riku. And I like it that way
Riku: Huh!? I don't think I'm that easy to read..!
Iori: Yes, you are...
Ryunosuke: I'll have to practice saying things that I don't really think before the broadcast!
Tsumugi: This request would make for a fun show!
Tsumugi: Yaotome-san, you're next!
Gaku: Yeah. Mine is to tell me someplace he wants to drive to with me.
Gaku: It's almost Ryu's birthday, so I wanna take him someplace!
Ryunosuke: Thank you, Gaku! That's so nice of you!
Gaku: We haven't been driving far because of our schedules, but what so you think about doing that if we have the time?
Ryunosuke: Sounds good! We might as well travel all the way across Japan, to Hokkaido or Kyushu.
Gaku: Driving along the coast is par for the course, plus it feels nice!
Ryunosuke: It's a little cold for it right now, but opening all the windows in the car is the best! You can really take in the sea breeze that way, lol
Gaku: That's gonna mess up your hair (lol)
Tenn: You two turn into a bunch of kids when you talk about these things.
Ryunosuke: You should join us if your schedule allows it, Tenn! If we don't go anywhere far, we can just drive around right after work.
Tenn: You want me to mess up my hair, too? No thanks
Gaku: Isn't that the fun part?
Ryunosuke: We'll bring a comb!
Gaku: I can fix your bangs for you (lol)
Tenn: I'll do that myself. You two aren't very good at it, for one
Ryunosuke: You're a lot more nimble than us!
Tsumugi: Just seeing TRIGGER drive around would make for a wonderful MV!
Tsumugi: Tsunashi-san, it's time for you to request  something from yourself.
Ryunosuke: Yeah. My request for myself is to try doing tongue twisters!
Tenn: Are you sure? The last time you did that, you accidentally bit your tongue
Ryunosuke: That's exactly why! I want to succeed this time.
Riku: Come to think of it, we heard you practice tongue twisters that one time when we came over to your dressing room to say hi!
Sogo: You mean that time when Tsunashi-san was alone in the dressing room?
Riku: That's right! He was muttering something really quickly to himself...
Ryunosuke: Oh, you heard that..!
Ryunosuke: I was practicing in secret. I get so frustrated when I fail...
Yuki: Wow. You're such a hard worker, Ryunosuke-kun
Gaku: That's what you were up to? I could've helped, if you'd just asked.
Ryunosuke: But it's not really something people practice, so I felt a little embarrassed about letting anyone see me do it.
Tenn: You do it at home too, don't you? I've seen it
Ryunosuke: Huh!?
Ryunosuke: Tenn, you saw me..?
Tenn: You kept saying "the sixth sick sheikh’s sixth sheep’s sick" to yourself over and over, so I thought you were having a hard time with something
Momo: Why did you choose that tongue twister, lololol
Yuki: Incredible
Ryunosuke: Oh my gosh! That's so embarrassing..!
Ryunosuke: Ah, come to think of it, there were times when you'd make me tea or just act nicer than usual for no reason...
Tenn: I'm relieved to know you were just practicing tongue twisters
Ryunosuke:
Tumblr media
Tsumugi: I'd love to see the fruits of your labor on the show..!
Tsumugi: Momo-san, could you tell us your request next?
Momo: OK! (・∀・)ゞ
Momo: Mine is for him to go full sexy ★ (゜∀゜◎ノノ☆
Ryunosuke: Full sexy..!
Momo: Ryu's gentleness has its own charm, but I think his wild and sexy side is the very definition of a lethal weapon, too!
Momo: You'd mostly just be saying sexy phrases or doing a husky voice over the radio, though!
Momo: We're starving for some erotic Ryu content~!
Yuki: Sure enough. I'll never forget the day when I got teased by a wild Ryunosuke-kun.
Gaku: Uh, try not to tease him too much (lol)
Tenn: He came crying to us, asking "Did I really do that to Re:vale!?"
Momo: He sooo cute~~~~ (○´д`人´д`○)
Yuki: I meant by seeing him on TV
Ryunosuke: Thank goodness..! I didn't remember anything like that, so I thought it might've happened  while I was drunk.
Yuki: Ah. Come to think of it, there was that thing at our last wrap party...
Ryunosuke: Huh!?
Yuki: I'm kidding
Ryunosuke: Y-you nearly gave me a heart attack..!
Momo: Yuki~! You shouldn't tease our juniors too much, even if they are cute ヾ(*`ェ´*)ノ
Yuki: Sorry, his reactions were so funny that I couldn't help myself ^^
Ryunosuke:
Tumblr media
Tsumugi: I'm sure Tsunashi-san's fans will love seeing him dial up his sexiness!
Tsumugi: Yuki-san, may we hear one last request from you?
Yuki: Mine is for him to go full soothing
Ryunosuke: That's the opposite of what Momo-san was asking!
Yuki: Yeah. It feels like you've been showing more of your true self in   front of your fans, instead of just being sexy
Yuki: I'm sure the listeners would like hearing you chat as your usual self.
Ryunosuke: Thank you..! I feel like my fans have changed a little bit, too. It's like they're accepting me for who I am, not just the me they see on TV...
Ryunosuke: So I'm really happy to hear that from you!
Ryunosuke: I don't know if my true self is soothing though, lol
Iori: You are soothing. You're the model representation of a wholesome young man.
Sogo: Iori-kun is absolutely right!
Nagi: You are definitely of the Light attribute.
Ryunosuke: Attribute!? Am I going to have to fight something..?
Tamaki: It'll be funny if Momorin and Yukirin's requests get picked
Momo: Sexy!? Soothing!? Which is he!?
Rinto: That really brings me back!
Kaoru: Oh, that old joke. Not that I ever participated in it.
Ryunosuke: If I draw Yuki-san's request, I'll get to have a relaxing free talk!
Tsumugi: Thank you for a wonderful request!
Tsumugi: That's all for the requests. Thank you all!
Gaku: Now it's time for Ryu's requests to us!
Mitsuki: Ask anything!
Choices/outcomes:
1. Do you have a request for us?
Ryunosuke: I want to try baking apple pie right about now. I want to make a lot, so you should all come over to eat some!
2. Do you have a request for TRIGGER?
Ryunosuke: I want all three of us to go on a drive together, like we just talked about! I want us to do lots of stuff together, not just for work!
3. Do you have a request for Re:vale?
Ryunosuke: Momo-san and I spend a lot of time together at the sports club,  but I'd like to spend time with Yuki-san,  too! Maybe he could teach me some  vegetable recipes later?
Ryunosuke: Thank you!
Momo: I know these are pretty typical Ryu answers, but are you sure these requests are enough for you?
Yamato: They feel so normal (lol)
Ryunosuke: You're all such good friends that I don't know what else to ask for, lol
Gaku: But it's almost your birthday!
Tamaki: In that case, we're gonna wish you happy birthday
Tenn: Like we always do with these request group chats, you mean
Tamaki: Ryu-aniki, hbd! Please feed me Hamburg steak again
Riku: Happy birthday! I want to eat your Hamburg steaks, too! lol
Momo: \(oゝェ・o)ノ/゜・:* 【Happy Birthday】 *:・゜\(oゝェ・o)ノ
Iori: Happy birthday.
Sogo: Happy birthday. I hope you have another wonderful year.
Mitsuki: Happy birthday, Tsunashi-san! Let's get along, as idol buddies, cooking buddies, and sports buddies!
Nagi: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Yamato: Happy birthday. I look forward to your radio show.
Yuki: Happy birthday. If you're ever in trouble, I'll help
Banri: Happy birthday!
Rinto: Tsunashi-san, happy birthday. I hope you continue to be friends with our Re:vale!
Kaoru: Happy birthday. I'm blessed to be TRIGGER's manager. I hope I can stay that way for a long time.
Tsumugi: Tsunashi-san, happy birthday!
Ryunosuke: Thank you, everyone..!
Ryunosuke: I'm happy to receive such a lively birthday celebration. I'll accept your birthday wishes and requests the best I can!
Ryunosuke: I'll make sure my Twelve Hits! show is great. Just you wait.
Gaku: You better be ready for the celebration we've got in store for your actual birthday, too!
Ryunosuke: Thank you! I can't wait, obviously!

ARE YOU STAYING HOME FROM WORK/SCHOOL?  yep, grad school is now all online.
IF YOU’RE STAYING HOME, WHO IS THERE WITH YOU? my roommate/best friend of 6 years! also kinda by proxy my friend/classmate who my roommate works with. he’s chill.
ARE YOU A HOMEBODY? oh yeah. you can lock me in my room with snacks and a book and I’m good. I think the worst part of this for me is feeling guilty about going out even when I need to? and also trying to keep my fam from going out too much. my dad is ADHD and it is a Struggle
AN EVENT THAT YOU WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT GOT CANCELLED? I’m majorly bummed that I am not getting to work in person with some of my favorite profs. I get sassed via email and zoom by them now instead lmao. we were also supposed to go as a fam to Japan for the olympics, but I think we’re just delaying that now
WHAT MOVIES HAVE YOU WATCHED RECENTLY? ooooh I watched Promare this week and it was really good! Kiki’s delivery service for the first time too! also rewatched the lord of the rings trilogy for the billionth time
WHAT SHOWS ARE YOU WATCHING? I’m really bad at starting new shows when I’m stressed but I’m watching The Repair Shop on netflix, the new season of Fruits Basket, Tamayomi, and the Big Windup. also rewatching the hq dub for the hilarity
WHAT MUSIC ARE YOU LISTENING TO?  usually it’s a disney hits playlist, my weeb bops playlist, or an alt/indie rock playlist. sometimes also some country music. really varies on my mood but if I put the disney playlist on my roommate belts it out at the top of her lungs and it’s funny as shit.
WHAT ARE YOU READING? LOTS OF FANFIC. currently on my 5th? reread of Sansukh (it’s an incredible 500K lotr fanfic that I’ve loved for years). finished Call Down the Hawk the other week as well
WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR SELF-CARE? maintaining my schedule, doing my physical therapy/yoga/workout every morning, baking as much bread as my roommate and I can eat at any given time (I got a sourdough starter going!), some cooking, coloring, writing, and lottttts of reading. also just, goofing tf off with my roommate and giving my animals kisses when I have to go home to see my physical therapist :’)
tagging @poetatertot ofc, I stg I’m mutuals with a bunch of you out there so ya’ll should do this too

Tag Game
Tagged by: @codenamed-bananafishThank you for tagging me :D
Rules: answer 21 questions and tag 21 people you want to get to know better
Nickname: None really, my family and friends call me by my given name. I tend to react when someone calls me “Seren” though considering that name follows me since forever through any game and online community I’ve been with :D
Zodiac: Scorpio
Height: 5″3″
Last movie I saw: oof...? I - don’t remember lol I don’t go to the movies that often. I did rewatch the Superman trilogy from the 70s with Christopher Reeve the other day because someone I follow reblogged a bunch of gifs ^^;
Favorite artists: Oh boy, where to start? There are so many. Famous artists of the past: Marc Chagall and Claude Monet. Beautiful use of colours and way of expressing themselves. I could sit forever getting lost in their pictures. Famous artists of today: Shaun Tan and Lorenzo Mattotti. Have you SEEN their work??? Amazing! Also: Marc Taro Holmes and Alvaro Castagnet who make wonderful watercolour art. Their grasp on the medium is stunning and I adore the ease in their works! Digital artists and members of the animation industry: Marco Bucci (That texture! Omg), Atsuya Uki (The expanse of his backgrounds, the expressions of his characters, the gestures, everything is so light and free, I could talk all day about it), @mocha708 (I don’t know their name sadly but their background artwork is breathtaking!) There are more but I keep it at this. Fanartists of the fandoms I follow: There are so many and I already feel horrible because I am sure I don’t name all that deserve to be named. Anyways, following no specific order I put them as they come to my head: e-mika (a recent discovery I found throgh a BF fanart and followed them for their beautiful art, just check them out, it’s impressive), fuwishi (found through YOI fanart, I adore their watercolour works a lot, everything is so harmonious and soft), aishakami (found through BF again I love her watercolour works and the way she uses colour, it’s so beautiful and glowing, also her digital art is adorable, I feel honoured to be followed back by her), Rayana aka rainbow09 (doing mostly digital art for the Digimon fandom but there occasionally are other things in between, I love her style so much, perspective, poses, expressions, her portrayal of some of my most favored characters is just so spot on it’s amazing, she’s an inspiration to me and one of the reasons I got back into drawing after a rather long hiatus and I am extremely proud to be able to call her a friend), yamacoya (also found through BF, has a very unique style that highly resonates with me - it’s so reduced yet really strong in expression, awesome). I could go on forever but I’ll stop here. As I said, there are so many and I feel bad for not naming them all but those came to mind first so I guess that’s alright?
Song stuck in my head: Black Sheep by Gin Wigmore (my dad recommended this song to me the other day and I can’t get it out of my head ever since, it’s so catchy and really good)
Other blogs: none - yet? (I keep considering splitting my blog by the fandoms I’m following but I’m overwhelmed just thinking about the maintanance so my poor followers have to deal with my randomness ^^; sorry guys!)
Do I get asks: sometimes :)
Following: 104
Amount of sleep: 8 - 10 hours if possible
Lucky number: 13
What I’m wearing: My go-to clothes aside from work are the jeans t-shirt chucks combo I’ve been rocking since my early teenage years. For work I’m expected to wear formal dresscode but loosen my leash and nothing stops me wearing my band shirts and chucks to a suit xD
Dream job: it used to be concept artist or animator but then life happened lol
Dream trip: Oh there’s more than one! The one I’m dreaming of for well over half of my life now would be Japan :) but there’s so many places I want to see. A backpacking trip through Great Britain. The Mayan Temples. Athens. Rome. And so many more ^^
Favorite food: Again so hard to name only one! I live in Bavaria and I love this regions food so so much. Kammbraten is amazing with Semmelknödel and Rotkraut. Or my mum’s Goulash is incredibly delicious. Or her Rouladen! God I love food xD to name something more internationally known I’d say Clam Chowder. I fell in love with that stuff the first time I went to Boston and I’m craving it madly. Oh and corn on the cob is always great! And Spaghetti! And Cherries - cherries are great. So are grapes. And I discovered Kaki fruits recently - yum!!! Did I mention that I love food? lol let’s skip ahead
Play any instruments: No :( but I want to learn to play the piano eventually
Languages: German, English, I was pretty acceptable in Spanish but that’s years and years ago. I think I can introduce myself still lol doesn’t count I guess
Favorite song: I really try not to write an essay about favourites again. It’s so situational. And this is hard to answer! I’ll pick Queen - Don’t Stop Me Now, this song always picks me up when I’m down or makes me dance through the room when I’m in a good mood, overall a great song!!!
Random fact: I’m really bad at answering questions like these with a normal answer, you either get a long ramble or a counter question to specify what exactly is being asked. I’m a nightmare for everyone trying to hold a conversation with me I’m afraid. This is kind of obvious though so...how about this: I used to raise butterflies when I was a kid. When they hatched my mum’s kitchen was full of fluttering colours :D
Describe yourself as aesthetic things: Ummm.....? Does a blank page count? I could tell you about the things I like but to describe myself as aesthetic things...? I don’t think I qualify to do so.
Tagging: Some of you are friends and some are followers of mine who I haven’t gotten the chance to get to know yet but I keep seeing your names in my push notifs and you somehow stick around despite my randomness. I hope it’s ok and I don’t bother you guys. I tend not to tag people to not be an annoyance but it would be nice to get to know (more about) you. Needless to say if you don’t feel like doing this I don’t blame you :D Anyways: @rainbow09 , @tai-grex , @nekog4y , @xsmokexflamesx , @ookamii-woof , @zeokawolfhusky , @lovecardpng , @lutyung , @ashjadelynxx , @darkangelofcourage , and of course everyone else who I didn’t tag but reads this and feels like doing it! If you do feel free to add me and let me know :D

Spring 2019 First Impressions
The Spring list is late as usual (is it usual if it’s only the second instance?), but at least I’m closer to the beginning than last year. I’ve reached 50% completion on the doing this for an entire year consistently, so nice.
Tumblr media
Aikatsu Friends!: Kagayaki no Jewel (Aikatsu Friends!: Jewel of Radiance): Aikatsu is relatively low on my priority list of magical girl megaseries.
Tumblr media
Bakugan Battle Planet: This show actually premiered last semester, but in English, and this season is when the Japanese dub started. Either way it’s somewhere deep in the Bakugan series, which is based off of what are probably my least played children’s toys.
Tumblr media
BAKUMATSU Crisis: Second season of an otome game adaption that looked okay when I started it, but I still haven’t watched past the first episode.
Tumblr media
Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai (Bokuben / We Never Learn): The main show that I know the source material of, and it is just about meeting my expectations. An average guy who has to study rigorously to maintain his average grades is put in charge of tutoring the two smartest people in his school. This might not make sense until it’s explained that he has to tutor them in their worst subjects, because those subjects are the ones they want to major in for college. It’s a nice theme of working hard for what you enjoy situated in a rom-com with some haremy aspects and an unusually high density of goofy faces, so watch it if you like those aspects.
Tumblr media
Bungou Stray Dogs 3: I still need to see what they did with HP Lovecraft in season 2
Tumblr media
Carole & Tuesday: What happens when a runaway rich girl and a poor orphan girl meet up on Mars? They form a band of course. A tale of two lonely souls finding each other and become a little less lonely in a big world, making music together. It looks great and it sounds amazing, so this is definitely a priority watch.
Tumblr media
Chou Kadou Girl 1/6 (Amazing Stranger): Imagine Buzz Lightyear from the original Toy Story except in a 20 -something guy’s house and then failing the don’t move when humans are around rule almost immediately. That’s what this show is.
Tumblr media
Cinderella Girls Gekijou CLIMAX SEASON (Cinderella Girls Theater CLIMAX SEASON): For somebody who doesn’t watch idol shows, the theater shorts are pretty fun, though I’m not nearly caught up in this one to say how this season is going.
Tumblr media
Diamond no Ace Act II: Oh boy there’s so much baseball this season and a lot of it is sequels.
Tumblr media
Fairy Gone: There’s a lot of things going on in this show but I think I can simplify it to military use of fairies to give soldiers super powers. The protagonist has been taking jobs as a mercenary to find her sister who was split from her after their village was burnt down. Then at an auction that she works as a guard, things start going wrong and the thief who appears is none other than that sister. The first episode ends with the end of a three way fight between security and the girls, so I’m not sure where the show’s going at all. Maybe if the show didn’t flash back to the protagonist’s village burning down three times, there would be a little more time to give direction.
Tumblr media
Fruits Basket (2019): I never know how to deal with reboots for shows that I can remember, but haven’t seen the original. I know there’s people who turn into animals and a “do the carpets match the drapes” joke, and that’s about it from the 2001 anime.
Tumblr media
Gunjou no Magmel (Magmel of the Blue Sea): After a new continent appears in the world, explorers flock to it, not always as prepared as they should be for venturing into the unknown. The main character works at a company to rescue explorers from mishaps along with a few others. The worldbuilding is interesting and the main character’s black lightning is pretty cool looking, but his attitude and decision making abilities kinda put me off for now. That and the comprehensibility of the subtitles I was watching fell off a cliff halfway through the episode.
Tumblr media
Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine (Cinderella Nine in August): So far it looks like a pretty standard club building show based around women’s baseball. It looks nice and we have 4 club members as of the first episode, so they should make it to at least full team of nine pretty quickly. It looks nice outside of an odd montage near the end of the episode when the club plays a game with some local kids, and the character designs are a bit more memorable than the usual baseball cast. I appreciate the fact that they’re playing hardball, but I’m not the type of person to watch anything sports ever.
Tumblr media
Hangyaku-sei Million Arthur 2 (Operation Han-Gyaku-Sei Million Arthur): All I know about this show is that there’s a bunch of characters named Arthur and that it’s a sequel.
Tumblr media
Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu (Hitori Bocchi's ○○ Lifestyle): When one of the most socially anxious kids in elementary school gets separated by her only friend when they go to different middle schools, her friend gives her a quest: to become friends with everybody in her new class. She’s got a real go-getter attitude, but from feeling physical pain from trying to talk to a stranger to fainting when somebody actually responds to her, she’s got a rough path ahead of her. It’s a really fun show that gets you rooting for the main character in her attempts of communicating with others in a normal manner.
Tumblr media
Isekai Quartet: Four of the biggest isekai series in one short mash-up is a recipe for confusion. Especially since they’re all put together in a school setting where no fighting is allowed, even if there are holy gods and undead abominations in the same class. Anything can happen with all these people taken from their original normal lives, tossed into various fantasy worlds, and then slam dunked back into a relatively normal setting.
Tumblr media
Jimoto ga Japan (I’m From Japan): I cannot find a trace of the anime anywhere online and I am glad of this having read the manga. It is just a really dumb comedy about Japanese prefectures that I struggled to read a few chapters of before giving up.
Tumblr media
Joushikausei: A silent anime, as in there’s no spoken words, about a few high school girls. It’s an interesting concept, but I found it a bit uncomfortable to watch, mostly due to the whimpering and other nonverbal noises the girls were making.
Tumblr media
Kedama no Gonjirou (Gonjiro the Yarn Ball): A children’s show that hasn’t been licensed and no group is fansubbing it, how unusual… It actually looks interesting though so I might search for the raws to check it out.
Tumblr media
Kenja no Mago (The Magi’s Grandson): A child raised by a powerful wizard in the country reaches an age where he can move out to the city and attend a magical high school. Unfortunately for him, his parental figures only taught him combat and magic, so he doesn’t really know how to sustain himself in the reals world. It is a decent concept but there’s a 50/50 chance of any scene looking nice or looking awful, and the scene transitions all look like they were made in Powerpoint.
Tumblr media
Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slaying Blade): A happy family of coal sellers is destroyed in a night when a demon strikes. The eldest son was out due to a combination of work and a blizzard, and when he returns he finds all but one of his family members completely cold and covered in blood. This last member is rushed down the mountainside for medical aid, only to turn into a demon on the way down. A meeting with a demon slayer turns tricky as he tries to protect his demonized sister who’s fighting between killing instincts and her love of her brother. The opening promises some beautiful animations and the overall show isn’t slacking either, so overall it’s a very promising show.
Tumblr media
KING OF PRISM -Shiny Seven Stars-: It’s the TV version of a boy band movie tetralogy which is also a sequel I think?
Tumblr media
Kiratto Pri☆chan Season 2: A sequel to a idol anime that I reviewed last year. I think this is one of the first times a sequel has shown up that I also reviewed the first season of, though unfortunately it was for  a show that I didn’t watch fully.
Tumblr media
Kono Oto Tomare! (Stop this Sound!): One more club building show for this season, this one about a Japanese instrument called a koto. After all the upperclassmen of the club graduated in the previous year, only the main character is left in the club, and needs more members before the club gets closed, the usual. The first new member is a seemingly delinquent 1st year who is surprisingly diligent. There wasn’t too much interesting or unique other than the topic of the club, so music fans might find this more watchable than I.
Tumblr media
Kono Yo no Hate de Koi wo Utau Shoujo YU-NO (YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World): The first episode for this kind of front-loaded introducing characters and pulled out its premise of parallel dimensions and a device to navigate them towards the end, which means I’d probably have to watch another episode to figure out how I feel about it. It’s nice to not have a giant exposition dump take up the first episode of a show, especially since it will have two cours to tell a story, but I didn’t feel any particular gravitation towards the characters by this point, so I won’t be prioritizing any follow-up on it.
Tumblr media
Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin (Midnight Occult Civil Servants): With a job at a place called the Nocturnal Community Relations Division, the first thought of the type of people dealt with is most likely not going to be fairies. Our main character is taken from a world of the ordinary to being able to see and talk to the supernatural creatures that live locally, called Anothers. His co-workers are equipped with magically enchanted police tape and other trinkets to help solve issues that occasionally arise between Anothers. I like the modern fantasy setting, and the fairly low level fights with the supernatural so far, so there’s promise in where the show goes.
Tumblr media
Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou ga Dekinai (Ao Can’t Study): While the name Ao is usually blue, or sometimes even moth, in this case, it stands for Adult Only, the 18+ rating in Japan. This is due to her father’s profession, an erotic writer, and surprisingly, the main character hates her father for naming her that and spends her entire life studying to get into a college far enough away from him. This is thwarted by a guy confessing to her and filling her mind with romance and lewder thoughts, with the help of her father. I hate this as a concept and don’t watch this.
Tumblr media
Mix: A semi-sequel baseball anime. I say semi, because from what I’ve gathered it is recommended but not necessary to watch the original first.
Tumblr media
Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!? (Why is my Teacher Here!?): It’s about a male student and his teacher, ending up in awkward situations together, like being trapped together in a men’s bathroom stall. A show of pure fanservice through and through, so there’s not much else to say.
Tumblr media
Namu Amida Butsu!: Rendai Utena: What started out as an action about cleansing impurities from the world gives us a quick bait ‘n switch to a slice of life about gods bumbling about in the human world attempting to be competent humans. I found it irritating to watch, and it was very clearly based off of a gacha game, which do not have a good track record of making good shows.
Tumblr media
Nobunaga-sensei no Osanazuma (Nobunaga’s Young Bride): A modern age middle school teacher way down the ancestral tree of Oda Nobunaga meets the bride of the man himself, who traveled to the present from the day of the original Nobunaga’s death. She’s no older than when she left her original time, which leaves her at 14 years old, with no knowledge of modern day Japan so she’s stuck with the main character’s family and decides to be the new Nobunaga’s bride anyways, which… is weird.
Tumblr media
One Punch Man 2: A big sequel of the season, and one where people have been waiting with wary anticipation due to the change in animation studio and director. It definitely looks a lot stiffer than the first season, for action and non-fight scenes, but the story is a bit more interesting in my opinion, as the show starts working on fleshing out other heroes and why they fight.
Tumblr media
RobiHachi: the first episode of this really is a springboard for setting up what the plot and cast will be, just about starting right at the very end.  We’ve got an ultra gullible man in debt, a genius teen with no sense of purpose, a robot rabbit helper, and their spaceship that blares its own theme song when it transforms into a mech. They set off to find a legendary planet that grants happiness after a couple of hijinks on their starting planet. It’s a very busy show, both visually and plot wise, but still an enjoyable experience if you can keep up.
Tumblr media
Sarazanmai: 50% connecting with other people through oversharing with them, 50% kappas stealing souls from other people’s butts. It’s hard to describe the show but I’m having a good time, and the art is gorgeous, and special care is taken with little details in the show. I’d say watch the first episode definitely, and then decide whether or not to follow up on the rest of the show.
Tumblr media
Senryuu Shoujo (Senryuu Girl): The focus of the show is on the Japanese poetry type of Senryuu, mostly because the main character can only communicate with others through writing these poems. Thankfully, she’s got some good friends and is in her school’s Literature Club, so she has plenty of practice and is around people who appreciate her work.
Tumblr media
Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san (Meddlesome Fox Senko): The fox gods of the world have a duty to protect humans, and are becoming more proactive in seeking out humans with negative emotions before those emotions go out of control. In comes the male lead of the show, an overworked businessman who has basically just been going through the motions of life by this point. One of the fox gods appears in his house, doing the cooking, cleaning, and other tasks to help relieve the main guy’s stress. It’s comfy and there’s some funny moments, but I feel like the show would be better off as a more episodic show featuring various humans rather than just the one that it looks like the show will focus on. I’m also worried about the romance genre tag that the show has.
Tumblr media
Shingeki no Kyojin 3 Part 2 (Attack on Titan 3 Part 2): I’m still on episode 5 of the original series, with no particular motivation to make it any further. More people die in bloody explosions probably.
Tumblr media
Shoumetsu Toshi (Lost City): As the title of the show would imply there is a city that has been lost to humanity, as in, it just disappeared one day. The main female character is the only one who survived the city disappearing, and is targeted by a mysterious group due to that, and she tries to return to where the lost city used to be due to a message by her father who went missing with the city. In addition there was a monk with super powers who was standing on a motorcycle’s handlebars facing off against the main girl who could summon her Lost bodyguard with a bunch of guns but that was kinda just thrown in at the end.
Tumblr media
Strike Witches 501 Butai Hasshin Shimasu! (Strike Witches 501st Join Fighter Wing Takes Off!): Oh god it’s been so long since I’ve consumed Strike Witches content. This is a slice of life spin off of the original series, so the context is recommended, but not necessary. The animation is also very much on the rough side for a ten minute long short.
Tumblr media
Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki (Yatogame’s Observation Diary): After briefly being disappointed in the lack of heavy Nagoya dialects encountered in Nagoya, the main character runs into a classmate who happens to have one. In addition, all of her favorite foods and animals are popular or famous in Nagoya, so he sticks around with her for meeting his ideals of what a Nagoyan should be. They then travel the city as part of the photography club to see all the sights of the city.
Tumblr media
Youkai Watch!: Despite what it looks like from the title, this is pretty deep in a line of sequels of Youkai Watch.

Hhhh bunni legs pain accomplishment day
I HAVE FINISHED THE SHOPPING OF HELL
Tfw u only get paid 4 days before christmas and have to rush everything aaaa
It was bad enough today so i'm so glad i got it done before it got even more busy!
Misc boring essentials i bought for myself: new phone charger cos broken, new trousers cos i spilt hair bleach on my only two pairs, new shoes cos my left shoe literally snapped in half down the middle like wtf even happened there, cheap pink hair dye from a discount store cos i wanna try different colours but in a thrifty way
Now for EXCITING CHRISTMAS PRESENT TIME!!!!
First off SO MANY pc and xbox 360 games from Every Charity Shop In Cardiff, St Mellons, Rumney and Llanrumney. My sis has been trying to find some games to play but was like 'dont worry about it i can just wait til the charity shop gets something good'. So i thought i'd get some stocking stuffers via all the charity shops on my side of town. By our powers combined we will blitz the entire vale of glamorgan's discount gaming scene!!! I found SO MANY good stuff for £1/£2/£3 like holy shit i love when charity shops dont know the proper price for shit XD
speaking of which i also found a WEBCAM for £2! If its that cheap it probanly isnt great but itd still be fun to play around with! :D and the same store also had an old vintage G1 My Little Pony coffee mug in excellent condition. Oh god the nostalgia! My support worker gave me a lift to llanrumney so i had to awkwardly explain why i had an armful of weird 80s mugs and big teary eyes!
Speaking of vintage, i found this new vintage toys and games shop in cardiff called Galactic Attic! The name hooked me in and then they actually DID have pokemon inside! As well as all sorts of stuff ranging from 40s to 90s, wow! There was even a lil pile of old 90s gaming magazines in the corner, covered up by a bunch of boxes. I'm glad i noticed them! I got the announcemt issues for pokemon diamond pearl and platinum in a weird old pokemon fan magazine that i loved as a kid. Im kinda sad that nowadays we just have one official magazine fpr each console and not the wild madness of amateaur journalists failing horribly to get news from japan. Shame they didnt have Beckett Pokemon cos that one was infamous fot drawing its own terrible interpretations of pokemon sprites to avoid copyright. And speaking of terrible, they even had bootleg pokemon!! I talked to the cashier and he was like "you know those are fake right" and i was like "yeah its so nostalgic thats why i want em" and he was like "lol yeah they actually sell pretty well so i'm not mad my supplier ripped me off". It was a pretty good and awesomely terrible fake at the same time? There was this exact replica of some japanese display stand for the product and then the actual pokeball toys looked perfect BUT the mini pokemon inside were.. Really not. I am so damn happy with the surprise inside my one, surprise inside has never been more accurate! I can't take a picture now cos my phone is charging but REGICHEETO. Just..just imagine that, and whatever you're imagining it is probably worse. I love it so fuckin much. Also less hilariously there were some bootleg mini pika plushies with actually (as far as i can tell) their own unique design? They have cute lil winter scarves and an art style that reminds me of the Magical Pokemon Adventure manga. A really cute and good bootleg that i would have loved to see as a real product! The only way you can even tell its a bootleg is because there's no marking on the tail. I dunno, maybe if i still have some brown fabric in the cupboard i could fix it? Or maybe its unique tail makes it even more special! I mean there's Cosplay Pikachu with its double tail marking so maybe this is her cousin Accessory Pikachu with no markings? He just likes wearing scarfs and hats and stuff. OMG HE'S THE POKEMON GO EVENT PIKACHU!!!!!!
Along the miscness of finding a few things for myself, i also found: cute lil pokemon pencilcase, kingdom hearts blind bag, cheap copy of Fruits Basket volume 1 cos the new remake is coming out soon and i wanna Get Hype! The KH blind bag was really weird cos i didnt know they now have an entirely different set as well as the keychains i bought before. Its kind of a shame the art style doesnt match cos vexen is only in the keychains, alas! But i do really love these ones! Theyre apparantly made by funko pop but dont have the art style AT ALL, they just look like really accurate versions of the characters in mini form. Its kinda like the 'distance animation' style in steven universe? (Incidentally they also do SU ones but they missed the opportunitu to actually use the distance style, lol) I got a Sora in his kh2 outfit and i'm decently happy with that, its not one i really wanted but its not a bad one either. But i think now i've tried the fun of surprise once i'll just buy the actual ones i want off ebay later. They have roxas in his organization outfit! With a happy smile!!!
Oh oh and then EVEN MORE XBOX GAMES OF THE WILD THRIFT STORE VOID! i managed to find the whole fable series, two assassins creeds, saints row, gta, some misc shooter games and racers that she wanted but i dont know much about, mass effect 2 and ff13. I think maybe one or two others cos i cant fully remember right now. Theyre all in separate bags strewn across the room and my shoulders feel like death so i'll sort through them later.
Aaaand i wrote up like 14 paragraphs more but tumblr didnt save my draft fpr some fuckin reason and now im way too tired to do it again
Briefer summary:
* had a huge horrible panic attack getting stuck in a skyscraper shopping centre clothes place full of screaming and every perfume smell and WHY DO I HAVE TO NAVIGATE THIS HELL MAZE TO FIND THE ESCALATOR and seriously i was my most primal animalistic self and i went full fight or flight on this bitch
* had a lovely time visiting Cool Shop Grandma and rambled the story of how i met her and how we became friends but hhh too tired to rewrite. But anyway today i gave her a christmas pikachu plush as thanks for everything and cos her shop is moving on to its next location soon. She got really teary and gave me a big hug! She's gonna be at a comic con in march so i hope i'm able to go to that and see her again.
* went on a wild goose chase looking for harry potter merchandise and eventually found a gold plated replica of the movie prop version of the time turner and HELL YES my sis will love it!
* rambled about several market stalls that were cool but i can make a separate post about that in the morning when i find their contact details to advertise them
* got a plushie delibird and decided to take selfies with it everywhere to try and fight my social anxiety somehow. We went to a neat lil restaurant and had cheesy fries and a coke float!
* asked for a refund on an item for the first time ever and im proud of myself
* went off on a mystery bus trip to buy a preowned 3ds and pokemon games from a lady in an online preowned stuff facebook group and it didnt go horribly and i am glad! She was really nice and i witnessed A Good And Smart Parenting Moment and man it healed my heart and i wish i'd been raised that way. Again i'll probably ramble about the details later when im less tired, it really touched my heart seriously! And now i have MANY GIFTS FOR SIS!
* in total i was out present shopping from 9am to 8pm and i clicked my shoulder out of its socket for a split second from.all the heavy bags. Now im in a lot of aches and i need a sleeps
The End
