Helsaweek Day 6 - Miracle
@helsaweekmasterlist
technically wrote this as a prologue for a genderbend/soulmates Frozen 1 AU, but it fits well enough for this prompt and I wanted to share it now, enjoy!
tw: bullying, referenced child abuse and neglect. no female version of Lars (iykyk)
Johanna Westergaard woke up shivering, the palm of her hand aching as if it were being pricked by a hundred needles.
She squeezed her eyes shut, clenching her hand and stuffing it under her pillow.
In a few hours, the maids would wake her up for breakfast, dress her in one of Thea or Marina or if she was really unlucky, one of Augusta's old, horribly out of fashion dresses. And she would sit at the end of the table, ignored, until everyone else was done and she could grab whatever pastry her sisters liked the least and hope that they ignored her for the rest of the day.
Ignoring her was usually the nicest thing they did.
Johanna was ten years old and though her palm hurt terribly, she knew she could ignore it if she tried hard enough.
She was getting pretty good at it. Maybe because she had twelve very good teachers.
The sky lit up outside her window, and the pricking turned to a searing, burning cold. She sat up, trying to swallow down the tears that blurred her vision, and opened her palm.
There, in the most perfectly even penmanship she had ever seen, were words. They glowed and shimmered in iridescent blue and green just like the Northern Lights above the bay.
She'd heard her sisters talk about this—about soulmates. They all sat around the parlor with their tea and dreamed together about how one day words would bloom on their skin. Beautiful, romantic, poetic words that would lead them to their true loves, just like princesses in fairy tales. They caught her listening a few times, now she was careful to not to stand too close to the parlor door.
Johanna smiled as the pain faded away and the words dimmed to a faint silver-blue. The words—her soulmate's words--weren't very romantic or beautiful, actually they were very plain and a little mean, but she didn't care.
Excitement and hope burst in her chest. How could she possibly go back to sleep? Finally, her sisters would want to talk to her. They'd want to know what it was really like, if it was anything like they imagined. They'd gush over her hand, giggle and gossip about what her true love looked like and who it could be. They'd plan how they'd find him, together.
By the time the maids came, she was already dressed and ready for breakfast. Starting today, she wouldn't just be sitting at the table... she would have a place.

Week 5 blog log of living on a boat.
Sitting around the table of knowledge.
Saturday the 27th of April:
After our little mishap with the out board motor we had a day of R and R but we did go ashore to get a few supplies. At Russell, there is a large supermarket called '4 Square'. I thought the name was clever as it insinuates 4 square meals a day, where as most people only have 3. They stock most things, a small selection of fresh fruit and veg, some meats, plenty of dairy and a bottle shop with a good selection.
So our routine is to tie up the dinghy at the wharf, and take rubbish ashore and dispose in bins on the main drag. Then off to shop. Now this day we bought a few extra things and we had 3 full bags of groceries. We opt to push the trolley to the wharf and then unload into the boat and I push it back.....as I like to get as much walking in as possible when ashore. Zoom back to the boat, and I have mastered getting off with rope in hand to tie her up and then David hands me the shopping. Only this time as I lent over to get the bags, my reading glasses fell off my T shirt neck....where I wear them so I can read things on labels.
Our second donation to the water gods, the first being David's watch when tying up in Opua Marina, his watch band broke and fell into the abis. So now king Neptune can read small print and tell the time.
28th April 2024:
Back to Opua Marina today to meet with some friends, do some washing and buy a fishing rod. We have finally mastered getting into the Marina and into a berth safely and without too much stress. We go in on a slack tide, which is one hour either side of a high or low tide. Then there is nothing to push you around except wind and this day was calm and still. Steering with engines' only and not using the wheel is something the harbour master suggested last time and it works well. We got close and my nerves kicked in so I called out to our friend Jerry, in the berth next to ours and he came out to catch a line. So did 2 other friendly neighbours, so I was relieved when we safely tied up and no boats were hurt. Yay!
Table of knowledge, Opua Cruising club.
This group of fellows are our neighbours on wharf H at the marina. Bryce next to David has a 52ft Fountaine Pajot, then Duke in the yellow shirt has a 38 ft Lagoon, Tom has a 42 ft mono hull and Jerry has an Antares 45. So a wealth of experience and knowledge over dinner and a beer and a wine was so worthwhile. Tom and Jerry, ha ha and their partners and crew, Bryce and his family and Duke are all leaving soon to join a rally to Fiji. We will go next year but they have already helped us with small questions about battery storage and the electrical circuits on the boat. I think the boys get so excited as they all have the same toy, aka a boat, and they can chat and share and know exactly what you are explaining when you talk about an alarm going off, or the windlass not working. As I said, you meet a better type of bum at a marina.
At Burnsco, (same as BCF in Auz), David bought a you-bute fishing rod on special with all the bits and bobs and I got a $50 childrens rod that I was told I could catch a snapper with. That's all I wanted.
Next day we re fuelled at the Marina on a slack tide. It was our first time fuelling up in Mai Tai. She is so big and floaty, and any wind can blow her around. We had the harbour master Mark come and help and just as well as we were blown off the wharf while fuelling. All was OK and he helped pull us in.
4th May 2024: We were off on an adventure to Mosquito Bay where we were told there is an excellent chance of catching a fish. Gary, the owner of the fish and tackle shop in Russell told us to use this bait and you will catch a snapper. So I thought he would produce a small packet of prawns as bait, but no. He handed us 2 very large frozen mullet. Just chop a bit off and put the leathery skin piece on the hook and away you go.
So we found a beautiful spot on a calm, blue, forever sky day. We passed fairy penguins and lots of sea birds before we baited our hooks and let loose into the bay.
I never profess to be great at anything although I'm good at somethings and I would not have included fishing as one of my skills. But within 4 minutes of throwing my line in I caught a fish, then another and another. I caught a total of 6 fish on my $50 childrens rod and David caught ZERO. Ha Ha. Because of his injured finger, I un hooked the first 5 as they were Kahawai, which need to be bled before eating and we were told they are very messy. So I threw them all back and they swam away healthy but with a new piercing in their lip. Then I was out to catch a snapper. I said if we don't catch a snapper we would go and we will have sausages for dinner. Well well well. I caught the biggest snapper I have ever seen. 62cm.
I said thankyou for your life Sammy snapper and did the scaling, gutting and filleting all on my own. Then I froze half and we had fresh snapper for dinner, that I cooked. WOW talk about a first time day.
With my excitement overflowing, we motored to Army Bay and dropped the anchor and I went for a swim. The water was icy but refreshing after all that fish guts and scales flying everywhere. It was a great day and we really enjoyed the boat. This is what its all about. Finding out that you can do things you never thought you would. The thrill of a first time catch, clean and cook. I'm sure there will be plenty more.
Until next week.

A lot of places are named after historical events, battles, and people, so keep that in mind. God/Goddess names tied to your world also work well. Places are also often named after things that the area is known for, like Georgia being known for its peaches.
My brain was fried by the end of this so feel free to add more!
I hope you find this reference helpful and good luck world-building!

HOMETOWN: marina bay, singapore. NATIONALITY: singaporean. LINGUISTICS: english is her native language but, asides from it, she speaks spanish, portuguese, italian, french, mandarin chinese and japanese. in some languages, she’s more proficient than others. for instance, she speaks spanish just as well as she speaks english. her spoken japanese is nearly flawless and though she can read and comprehend the language, she can’t write. she’s still getting around to dive deeper into mandarin chinese. EDUCATION: she attended the massachusetts institute of technology - also known as MIT - and she has a double degree in business analytics and management. CRIMINAL RECORD: clean. BIRTH ORDER: first. FATHER: charles bradshaw was born on february 23rd, 1971 in windsor, england. he is an investment banker who resides in between hong kong and dubai. THREE : GET UP CLOSE & PERSONAL
HEIGHT: 5′7″ ( 174 cm ). WEIGHT: her weight oscillates between 127 lbs ( 57.6 kg ) and 134 lbs ( 61 kg ). BODY TYPE AND BUILD: she is naturally slim - courtesy of genetics and her fast metabolism - but, despite that fact, she still has a willowy frame. by no means, does she have a hourglass shape with a big bust, tiny waist and thick thighs but with a good, healthy diet and a workout plan ( that she, often, forgets to follow ) consisting of some weight training and fun classes, naomi has still managed to achieve a shape she’s comfortable with. she has particularly long legs and, thanks to all the hot yoga and pilates classes, she holds a rather toned overall body. EYE COLOR: brown. EYESIGHT: she has perfect eyesight though when the work load increases, you’ll find her reaching for her glasses in order to give her eyes a break. she also wears blue light blocking glasses whenever she’s working on a computer. HAIR COLOR: dark brown. HAIR STYLE: her hair is, has always been - and will always be, according to her - long, hitting the middle of her back, at worst, when she goes for a trim to keep its healthy condition and it has a natural wavy texture which naomi has learned to love. styling wise, it rarely gets too eventful... during the season, she’ll throw it on a ponytail or a bun for the race weekends and allow it to dry into its natural texture on the remaining work days. if she’s attending an event of sorts or going out to celebrate, she’ll straighten it or go for a nice blowout. DOMINANT HAND: right. NOTABLE PHYSICAL TRAITS: her lips or, possibly, their plumpness, her legs that often seem endless, her tan complexion and how it makes her dark eyes and hair standout, and for the rare occasions when it makes an appearance, her smile. SCARS AND MARKS: nothing outstanding - she has your average scars and marks here and there. TATTOOS: she has a lotus mandala on the inside of her right wrist, a symbol of enlightenment for her, as well as a way to symbolize all the growth she achieved throughout her life. PIERCINGS: regular lobes. VOICECLAIM: nicole elise. ACCENT AND INTENSITY: having moved out and grown up in london, naomi developed a thick london accent which she never knew how intense it was up until she found herself in massachusetts. the four years spent there, softened the intensity of the british accent and the nearly six years in spain also played a part when washing away what once was a proper londoner accent so, these days, it’s hard to identify what accent she has exactly. it’s more of a mixture than anything specific. ALLERGIES: cherries and insect stings, particularly bee stings. PHOBIAS AND FEARS: extremely deep waters and though it’s not a phobia, she gets really nervous when she’s driving over bridges. MENTAL ILLNESSES: none so far. PHYSICAL ILLNESSES: none so far. SCENT THEY WEAR: it varies depending on a lot of factors, such as season of the year, time of the day, occasion and, above all, her personal mood. during summer, you’ll often catch her wearing soleil blanc by tom ford or replica beach walk by maison margiela, and during summer nights, she'll wear sundaze by byredo. for fancy events, her go-to is bewitching yasmine by penhaligon’s, same way her go-to for nights out with friends is slow dance by byredo. whenever she has an important business meeting, she’ll wear cuir celeste by ex nihilo, simply because in naomi’s opinion, the scent is the definition of boss bitch and throughout race weekends, she’ll go for rose of no man’s land by byredo. le labo’s patchouli 24 and maison margiela’s replica by the fireplace are generally the scents she wears through winter. for date nights where she actually cares to put some effort in and is actually interested in the person, she’ll specifically wear reine de nuit by byredo or santal 33 by le labo. ALCOHOL USE: socially, she does. SMOKING: she doesn’t smoke. OTHER NARCOTICS USE: no. INDULGENT FOOD: she prefers to eat healthy but there’s no denying that every once in a while, she needs to indulge in some soul food. Betta Foods: A Big Huge List
Oh boy, I’m so sorry this has been sitting unpublished at the bottom of my drafts list for like a year at this point, I’m not sure why I didn’t put it out when I finished it back then, but here it is! On popular request, alongside my Big Huge Goldfish Food List
I did it! Wrangled together a pretty long list of betta foods. Wonderful, terrible, and some in between. But mostly terrible, wow there’s a lot of bad food on the market....
I actually had to go back through and move several of the higher ranked ones down the list because on a second look a year later they were worse than I remembered. Either the companies changed the formulas or 2017 Anna was selectively blind to a lot of soy and brewer’s yeast 🤔
Please note that this is NOT a nutrition guide! This is just a list of commercial foods ranked by quality! For a better breakdown of what, when, and how much to feed your betta please check out this great guide by @tser.
Also, unless otherwise specified these are all based on the pellet versions of these foods, not flakes. Pellets in general are always going to be the better choice.
The best!
Quality ingredients, minimal fillers, these are good choices for regular feeding alongside the proper frozen live proteins
Fluval Bug Bites
New Life Spectrum Betta Formula
Northfin Betta Bits
Omega One Frozen Freshwater Community Gel
Repashy Bottom Scratcher Gel Mix
The Grub Pie mix has more insect content, which is nice, but a few more fillers? Still a very good food.
Not bad
May be rotated in with other staple foods for variety. Some have slightly lower quality ingredients or a few too many fillers, others are good quality but not well balanced for daily feeding.
AAP Paradigm Carnivore
Omega One Betta Buffet
Repashy Meat Pie
San Francisco Bay Frozen Freshwater Frenzy
would make a great staple but it’s not a gel food, this one is messy!
If you have to..?
Passable if you’ve really got nothing else on hand, but otherwise don’t waste your money. Feeding these long term is not going to be healthy for your fishies.
Aqueon Betta Food
Elive Betta Bites
Elive Betta Color Granules
Ken’s Premium Betta Pellets
National Geographic Betta Pellets
Some surprisingly good ingredients for a cheap big box brand, but has some controversial chemical preservatives. Conflicted on where to put this one...?
Nutrafin Max Betta
Ocean Nutrition Atison’s Betta Food
Ocean Nutrition Atison’s Betta Pro
Another nice food with a hot button preservative :/
Pisces Laboratories Premium Fighter Pellet
Sakura Betta Fighting Fish Food
Sanyu Betta Pellets
Seachem Nutridiet Betta
Xtreme Aquatic Foods Betta PeeWee Pellets
Y.F.S. Tropical Betta Bites
No.
Please do not, seriously. Whoooooooo boy there’s a lot of bad betta foods out there.
Aqua One Betta Pellets
API Betta Pellets
Azoo Betta Cuisine
Encore Betta Pellets
Excelsior Giant Betta Food
Fuel Fish Food
HBH Betta Bites
Hikari Betta Bio-Gold
Ken’s Premium Betta Micro Crumble
Ken’s Red Floating Betta Pellets
Marina Betta Shaker Pellets
Marina Betta Buffet Vacation Blocks
Nutrafin Basix Betta Pellets
Sera Betta Bit Food
S&C Aquatics, various mixes
Tetra BettaMin Tropical Medley
Tetra Pro Betta Food
Top Fin Betta Bits
Tropical USA Betta
Tropical USA SuperVit Granules
Wardley Blue Betta Food (Lol there aren’t any color enhancers for blue fish, bettas don’t actually have blue pigment)
Wardley Premium Betta Food
Dear god no please I beg of you
Holy shit how do they sELL THIS STUFF?!?!!? Feat. the reasons I am horrified.
Cobalt Betta Minis
THE WORST, no fish meal till 5th ingredient, poultry byproduct and hydrolyzed feather meal are hIGHER ON THE LIST THAN FUCKING FISH MEAL - BURN THIS FOOD BURN IT ALL
Essentials Betta Food (Pet Valu brand)
Literally identical to the Cobalt food, 1 to 1 identical all the way through, what
Sera BettaGran Color Granules
1st ingredient corn starch, 5 more fillers, plus 8 plant ingredients, no way
Tetra Betta Plus Floating Pellets
Only protein ingredients are 2nd and... 8th... on the list. The rest is all fillers and nutrients and some algae meal way down. Yeesh.
Tropical USA Betta Granules
11 different fillers what else do I say
Zoo-Med Micro Floating Betta Pellets
It’s trash. I mean. It’s trash. comes with tiny adorable feeding wand tho, that’s a plus, so cute
As always, if anyone has any suggestions, corrections, or other foods to add to the list, feel free to let me know! This one may be a little rougher than my goldfish list since I’m not a betta person and I compiled this list much faster than the other one (even if it did take me forever to actually publish it, oops)
#bettablr#betta food#fishblr#betta care#betta#goldfish resource#even though that's not the right taaaaaaaaag I just wanna keep it there with my other long fish writeup stuff#I should do some research and writing maybe on ethoxyquin#figure out where to stand on it

Water, Sand, and Tears
I wake up and look at the paint roller patterns on the white ceiling. Im laying in bed in the room of my childhood. Only it's not decorated or treated like it was when I was a kid. But it is my room, the dimensions and layout are all the same, the carpet, bed, window, and walls to. It is real early in the morning and noises outside my window are what woke me up. I get up and go to the window to see what is going on. When I look outside I see quite the commotion which is strange in itself because it is I would say one in the morning, but it is not dark, it is daylight and there are rays of sunlight shining down on the back yard.
My back yard is not the one from growing up either, not even close. Instead right outside my window is a wooden deck with an awning. And beyond that ocean water. The legs holding up the deck and roof go right down into the water. It's like like looking into a marina. The ocean goes out into the distance but there are small boats out in the water and all the neighbors houses are backed right up to the water and some have little docks with their own boats as well.
I hear more noises and my attention is drawn to the sounds that had awoken me before. There are a lot of things unfolding in front of me. To the left there are three men, two of them are in a small boat and the third is coming out of the neighbors house, where I can see from the backdoor he has clearly broken in. He carries a package under his arm and rushes down the small dock and joins the other two men in the small boat. They clearly do not see me at the window and drive the small boat over to where they are right out in front of me at the edge of the dock coming from our house. They begin lowering the package by rope down into the water, and underneath our dock to bury and hide the treasure they have just stolen from our neighbors. As if this sight wasn't weird enough their job is suddenly made monumentally harder by a rush of incoming high tide and a killer whale that has just swam into the small port. The killer whale starts doing all the picturesque whale things that you expect to see in a wildlife calendar. This in combination with the rolling tide has the men's small boat rocking wildly and they are doing all that they can not to fall into the ocean next to a killer whale and also not lose the treasure they are submerging to the bottom of the bay. Now small splashes of waves are hitting the dock attached to my room and sprinkling the window.
For some reason I decide to open my bedroom window, either to hear what is happening or to get a better look, I don't really know why. Just after I do the tide waves grow bigger and the killer whale decides to do a giant roll in the water. The following mini tsunami wave crashes into our deck like when a fat guy canon balls into a small pool and the wave breaks over the deck and right into my open window. What Seems like ten or so gallons of water pours through onto me and drenches the large pile of dirty clothes at my feet. Everything is soaked.
I decide to run and wake up dad so he could see what has happened. Holding his hand I drag him into my bedroom to witness the small disaster. In place of the water though there is now sand. A small drift or dune is all over my bedroom floor the peak of it at the base of my open window. We walk up to the window and look out. The ocean is still there but farther out, about a hundred yards or so and our deck sits atop a sandy beach. The neighbors boat lays on its side beached at the edge of there dock. The whale is gone and so are the three men in the small boat. Little sand drifts cover the docks around the small bay.
My dad doesnt seem mad at all. In fact he seems quite happy about the whole situation. He looks down at me and in typical dad joke fashion he says to me. "Well I guess it's not waterfront property anymore, it's beachfront" I look at his cheesy grin and am disgusted by the bad humor. He grabs my hand and excitedly says "lets go check it out!". Now there is a door that wasn't there before to the right of the window in my room. He opens it and pulls me throuth it. I reach the other side squinting from the brightness of the outside versus the dim lit bedroom I had just come from. When my eyes focus I realize my dad is gone and not holding my hand. I look down the bright dock to see where he has gone. The wooden dock reminds me of a long airline concourse that you use to walk out to a plane. It is walled on both sides and has a slatted roof. Every six feet or so there is a long window with no glass on both side of the wall. On the side that was facing the beach little sand dunes had come in through the windows covering the floor. On the opposite side dusty morning sunlight puts small beams into the long hallway.
I find the sudden urge to run down the hall to try to catch up with my dad. I start running and after a while the deck turns to the left. When I round the corner, down a ways I see a small table and a deck chair with a man sitting in it on the left side of the hall. As I get closer I realize that the deck I am running down is part of an elderly care home and the man in the chair is my grandpa.
I slow from a run to a walk as I get close and then sit down on a tall pile of sand next to grandpa. He is slightly reclined and looks almost small in the chair. The sand has come in from the two windows behind him piling up against the chair and has drifted around the front covering the bottom of the table legs. Grandpa's feet are bare and are covered up to his ankles in sand. I look at his face, his expression is far off and sad. He is staring out the small sunlit window, tired.
"Grandpa? Why are you awake? It's one thirty in the morning. Are you okay?"
Hearing me he turns his head ever so slightly not meeting my gaze but still starring out. Softly and slowly and with a small amount of fear he says.
"I havnt been sleeping well, I am dying of old age."
I have the sudden urge to hug him tight and tell him everything will be alright, but I hold back and say.
"Well will they let you go home"
"No, they won't let me Cause I can't move"
He looks down to his bare feet buried in the sand and slowly grabs the end of the arms of the chair to pull himself up. He rises ever so slightly but then lets go resting back into the chair again defeated.
"Did you call grandma so she can come get you?"
He looked up through the window again
"She can't make it here in time."
And then before i could say anything else he was gone. He sat frozen looking out, his eyes open, not shiny anymore. He looked like a magical toy that had once been granted life but then had it taken away. Blank, motionless, like a small wooden doll. I looked into his opaque blue eyes. I had missed my chance to hug him and tell him that I loved him while he was still alive...
I woke up crying, sobbing. When I finally collected myself and got out of bed I went to my phone, it was two in the morning. I put notes in my phone so I wouldn't forget the dream. I love you and miss you Grandpa.

Severed, Part 2
A/N This is Part 2 of my WIP, set in an alternate universe that veers off from canon during the Redux arc, but three years after those episodes (so in October 2000). Still a soft-rated R for language.
Part 1 is located here.
Sweat trickled down his neck, dampening the shaggy length of his salt-and-sun-bleached hair. There was a ceiling fan making desultory swoops through the thickened air, but it barely disturbed the dusty floor.
Christ, it was hot. Not yet midday, it was easily over a hundred degrees, and the merciless sun leached the life out of anything that still had life to give.
“Una mas, Señor?” The barman held up a Dos Equis, rivulets of melted ice on the cool green surface more enticing than the beer inside. He nodded and tapped the rickety tabletop.
The glass felt glacial against his carotid artery, slowly cooling his heated blood. After several minutes, he took a long pull, half draining the bottle.
When he found his way to the Baja peninsula two years ago, he hadn’t been thinking about the weather. Mostly, he’d thought that the exchange rate from Consortium blood money to pesos meant he could subsist without income for as long as was necessary, and that he’d be just another drunken gringo, blending into a landscape of drunken gringos.
Also, there was a certain poetic irony in his living in a place called La Paz. He’d find his peace in hell, and no sooner.
For the first six months, he’d done nothing but drink and howl at the moon. He’d rented a dilapidated beach house for less than his XXX video club membership had cost him back in DC, and set about decorating it with unwashed laundry and empty tequila bottles.
To his disgust, he couldn’t maintain that pace of degeneracy (old habits dying hard) so he eventually settled into a quiet routine of beer-induced siestas, long swims in the Sea of Cortez, and haunting any corner of the Internet where he might hear news of her.
Just this past week, he’d been strolling the beachfront by the marina, and he caught sight of a familiar silhouette, pale skin glowing in the moonlight. Feet nailed to the ground, he watched her approach; the same no-nonsense stride, the same auburn bob brushing the serious set of her shoulders.
She was almost in front of him, and his belly tingled with a volatile cocktail of salvation and terror. How did she find him? What did she want? How could he make her (never) go away?
He forced air into his lungs, opened his parched mouth and emitted a wheeze that sounded like “Scuh...” before the apparition morphed into a stranger. This one’s eyes were green, not Windex blue. Her nose was snub and self-satisfied, not patrician and argumentative. The woman scowled at his frozen features and brushed past him. It wasn’t her. Not her. It wasn’t...
After collapsing on the breakwater for a measureless time, staring at the oily ripples in the bay, he’d pulled himself upright and made his way to the nearest cantina, where a bottle of tequila succeeded in numbing more than just his face.
If he’d had his wits about him, he would have remembered that her hair was long now, and a darker auburn. He knew because he’d seen her the previous winter, at his mother’s funeral.
An anonymous email had arrived, containing a link to an online memorial site.
Elizabeth “Teena” Mulder, née Kuipers. Born in Dayton, Ohio on April 1, 1941. Deceased February 6, 2000 in Greenwich, Connecticut. Survived by her children, Fox William and Samantha Ann. A private graveside service will be held in Greenwich on February 14 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Paget Foundation are welcomed.
The obituary had her hands all over it. From the questionable assertion that both Mulder children still lived to the precise details of an invitation-only memorial service, she was calling him home. He wouldn’t have known how to refuse.
Gusts off Long Island Sound buffeted the slopes of the graveyard. He’d abandoned all his outerwear during his meandering southward migration to Mexico, so he’d had to stop at a local thrift store to purchase a hat, boots and gloves. This being Greenwich, the shop carried a wide assortment of second hand down-filled jackets as well. Still, his bare right hand trembled with cold as he held the long-range binoculars.
From his distant vantage, he couldn’t make out the precious nuances of her features, but he could tell that she was healthy. She had to continuously brush back her lustrous hair as it lashed around her face in a confused halo. Even in her thick overcoat, he could tell she’d regained all the weight the cancer had taken from her, and maybe five pounds more. She was well. She was alive. It would have to be enough.
As his mother’s coffin slowly sunk into the frost-bound earth, she pivoted in a wide circle, eyes trained on the distance. She stopped when she was looking straight at him, and he dropped the binoculars to his side, scarcely breathing. Of course, she couldn’t see him. He was too far away. But she knew he was there. Or she needed to believe that he was. After an eternal moment, she turned back to the grave, and her shoulders hitched on a sob. Skinner, erect and watchful as ever, placed a paternal hand on her elbow, and led her away.
Remembering that day as he finished his beer and gestured to the barman that he wanted to settle his tab, he knew two things. Scully hadn’t been mourning Teena Mulder as she cried in the cold February wind. And his hand had never stopped trembling, even inside his pocket as he walked stalwartly away.
“Gracias, Señor Fox,” the bartender beamed as he slid two hundred pesos under his small collection of green bottles.
“Te lo dije, Jorge, me llamo Mulder. Solo Mulder.”

Marina Bay Sands gives a "new fantastic point of view" for Disney+ launch in Singapore
Never seen before behind-the-scenes footage showcases key moments in the making of the groundbreaking extravaganza
SINGAPORE, March 25, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia and Marina Bay Sands once again joined forces to make history atop one of Singapore's most iconic landmarks on 24 February, marking the debut of the video-on-demand streaming service Disney+.

The nationally televised launch culminated in a show-stopping spectacle, with the light-up of several landmarks in the Marina Bay vicinity, including Gardens by the Bay, Merlion Park, the three cascading towers of Marina Bay Sands and underbelly of Sands SkyPark, as well as ArtScience Museum.
The launch also saw Singaporean superstar JJ Lin give an unprecedented performance on the rooftop of ArtScience Museum, dubbed the Welcoming Hand of Singapore by Las Vegas Sands' late founder Sheldon G. Adelson.
True to the lyrics of Aladdin's theme song A Whole New World, Lin performance literally gave a "new fantastic point of view" as he became the first artist to have ever performed atop the iconic ArtScience Museum, singing a medley of some of the most recognisable Disney theme songs including Can You Feel the Love Tonight from The Lion King; Let it Go from Frozen; A Whole New World from Aladdin; and the Chinese theme song Embark, from the latest Walt Disney Pictures animation, Soul.
It also served as a homecoming for Lin, who was one of the first artists to have performed at the grand opening of Marina Bay Sands in 2010, alongside American singers Kelly Rowland and Diana Ross.
Lin had posted on Facebook on 25 February: "If being indulged with Disney fantasies taught me one thing, it would be that 'magic carpet rides' are real, as long as you dare to believe! (and work extremely hard for them!) So here it is, my dream come true, shining, shimmering, and splendid!"
He was joined by a star-studded line-up of local singer-songwriters including Sing! China 2016 first runner-up Nathan Hartono, who sang You've Got A Friend In Me from Toy Story; as well as Benjamin Kheng and Annette Lee, who performed the classic Disney theme songs Beauty & the Beast. Reflection from Mulan and Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid. These memorable performances took place at ArtScience Museum's permanent exhibition space Future World: Where Art Meets Science.
The launch was a pinnacle moment for Marina Bay Sands and Disney, who have partnered over the years for events that have included the Southeast Asia Blue Carpet & Premiere of Captain America: Civil War and festive-light up with Moana in 2016, Marina Bay Sands' Festive Light Up with Star Wars: The Last Jedi in 2017, Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War red carpet fan event in 2018, and Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel fan event in 2019.
