Mike is Sam

Will is Frodo

Early season Mike always cared about Will and did what he could to help him, similar to how Sam followed Frodo. Frodo is in trouble and Sam does everything he can to take the pressure off him. He realizes how damaging the ring is, and how he feels responsible for Frodo. Mike felt responsible for Will when he had the episodes in the arcade and on Halloween. Mike felt like he had to take care of Will and keep him safe.

Frodo was controlled by the ring and had visions. It takes over him, but Sam knows it’s not him and that he can help him. When Will was controlled by the mind flayer Mike knew that it wasn’t him and was one of the only people to bring him out of it. They both know the person they care about is still in there.

Even after Sam and Frodo had their argument, Sam decided to go after him. Similar to how the rain scene fight is Mike ran after Will after thinking about it.

Edit: I also wanted to add something. The way that Frodo wakes up in Rivendell after getting stabbed, and Sam is so happy to see him. That is how Mike was happy and relieved that Will was alive and safe.

Edit: another thing. How Sauron spied on them because he knew Frodo had the ring. Then Will being the “spy” and how he was getting controlled.

Their dynamics are very similar and I am mixing my two biggest hyper fixations <33

TDLR: The queer coding of Will and Mike reminds me of Sam and Frodo.
