Modern Bridgerton couples + Pets

Just thinking about which kind of domesticated menaces they would bring into their homes.

Saphne: their first pet is definitely a Basset Hound because Daphne is a dork. Name is Princess, she is super cute. Simon later decides he can't take being outnumbered and gets a Pitbull (with some manly name like Maverick) to teach Princess how to be a good guardian dog. Jokes on him the Pitbull ends up twice as spoiled as the Basset hound and follows him everywhere huffing for cuddles.

Kanthony: They have Newton the demon corgi, although they probably get a mate for Newton at some point and just enjoy life as proud corgi grandparents when Newton & wife begin making puppies. They most likely end up with a houseful of corgis because Kate is not okay with neutering Newton and Anthony can't deny her anything.

Benophie: These two are definitely bird people. All their birds are rescue and they keep them in a special open part of My Cottage greenhouse, while rehabilitating broken wings. Officially they have a chicken, two parrots, a parakeet and a Cockatoo (Pollock, Picasso, Monet, Dali and Frida) but they feed every bluejay, canary, raven or winged personality that comes to their birdhouses. So you never really know exactly how many birds they actually have at home.

Polin: I want to say they are also Dog people. But Colin just looks like the guy who has a thing for exotic reptiles whenever he travels. And Penelope would definitely appreciate the irony of owning a Chameleon. Also their pets would be the protected species kind that need their own enclosure. Colin has Popcorn, a Blue Iguana, which he rescued in the Cayman Islands and a couple of very colorful Geckos (Muffin and Nugget). while Penelope just keeps a tortoise she's had since she was little called Lola, and a blue Panther Chameleon called Ozzy, that Colin got her for her 16th birthday. (her chameleon is the boss of that house)

Philoise: Eloise has a grey Persian Cat that looks perpetually grumpy called Napoleon, Phillip has a brown Saint Bernard that he calls Noel but his kids call Noodle. El's cat did not take it well when Eloise moved in with Phillip and the twins, simply because the dog was being way too friendly with Eloise. And the cat wasn't having it. So he marked his territory in a very feline way.

Franchel: Michael was never much for pets, but Francesca has a whole aquarium of Koi fish in her apartment and loves to add pieces of decorations to it so the fishes begin growing on him. After the get married, Michael actually builds Fran a pond with it's own ecosystem so she can raise her Koi in relative freedom outside of the small aquarium they are used to.

Hyraeth: These two are not exactly pet people, but I feel like teenage Gareth owns a horse that he takes care of very well and Hyacinth is persuaded to help out with his horse and begins loving it as well so she gets Anthony to buy her a pony which she names Twilight Sparkle. they both grow up to be very responsible horse owners.

Grucy: they share ownership over the class pet in Elementary school. A spotted bunny named Waldo. And they low key treat the rabbit as their child. Since Lucy is technically not allowed to have pets by her uncle and Gregory was banned from the pet store after the last 'free the animals' incident he was involved in

We adopted Frida (never changed her name!) from Animal Humane Society to our crew of AHS adoptees. She's a deaf girlie but it doesn’t impact her at all! When we got the call during the pandemic to say she wasn’t able to hear, my dream of rescuing a blind and/or deaf dog came true. I was nervous but no need to be. She fits into our home perfectly and is the best dog you can ask for. We love her so much!

Uh uh hi

Season 3 of Hilda.

Ok so Hilda. Um. Ok. In order to understand my perspective on Hilda you need to understand one kind of odd thing about me. Here I go. Gonna say this into the Internet void.

I “kin” Hilda.

Not in the sorta-detached-from-reality “I literally think I am a fictional character” way, I just think our personalities are more alike than any real person and any fictional character have a right to be. I feel like we would behave in similar ways in a lot of situations. But also she’s like, more idealized than me? Her world is just…. So much gentler than ours. If I had her world and she had ours I think…. I think I would be almost exactly like her.

Anywho, onto my actual thoughts about season three

I’m only two episodes in but

Hilda Season 3 is just as gorgeous as previous seasons, with its limited color palette and music that makes me want to cry out with longing for something that I’ve never known.

Frida, David, and yes, Hilda, are older now. Teenagers. With new designs. I adore them. I’m so… proud? That my beloved fictional friends are growing up. David’s voice has even changed, which is great because without checking I’m 99% sure he has the same VA? Neat. David as a character seems to have mellowed out some as well since discovering his love for a particular kind of music, and he seems to be more at peace with the always-having-a-bug-on-him thing. Good for him!🥰

They’re visiting Hilda’s great aunt, Astrid, a new character who I already love. She makes these charm things and sells them to tourists. I want to make some now and honestly? They *seem* like the sort of thing I would make. (check my Etsy shop @ TheLovelySkelie If you don’t believe me)

Hilda is desperate for some magical adventure to have in this new place and honestly same girl. Frieda and David just wanna chill which is fine I guess but honestly why are you even friends with Hilda if you don’t wanna go on magical adventures? That’s like her whole thing. Weird bit of tension between them which I found a bit awkward.

Here’s where the major spoilers start, stop now if you don’t want to know anything of importance about Season 3

The main character squad meet Astrid’s neighbor, a Pooka (a shapeshifting creature of Celtic folklore), who has found a Woff egg. If you don’t know what a Woff is think a dog or a wolf but…spherical? And flying? And oddly majestic? Anywho, they go on an adventure to return the Woff egg to its nest, which leads to some absolutely stunningly beautiful scenes with happy Woffs. OH! But not some spooky foreshadowing featuring fairy rings!

Later the gang go camping in Astrid’s backyard and Hilda wakes up to find her great aunt sneaking off to a fairy mound in the middle of the night for some reason. Upon investigating the next day Hilda, Frieda and David end up accidentally trapping themself in some kind of misty spooky fairy realm, patrolled by these one-eyed mushroom-squid things. And….

Ok. I’m gonna be completely honest here. I….Am a tiny bit disappointed by how Hilda behaves in this scene. It’s not…. Out of character to be honest. We’ve seen her flee from some intimidating creatures before, but…. Idk. Has Hilda learned *nothing* from all her adventures? Most of the entities she’s encountered are either intelligent enough to be reasoned with, or are more animal-like but aren’t hostile by nature. She has no idea *if* these mushroom creatures are hostile, and she doesn’t endeavor to find out. Maybe I’m stupid but I hope this is where Hilda and I would differ. I would like to think that I would at least *try* to find out if something means me harm or not before running away.

Back at Astrid’s house, Hilda’s mom is informed by the Pooka that she, Frieda and David are in the fairy realm. Astrid and Johanna(mom) rush to the rescue, retrieving the trio from the fairy realm by literally digging them out of a fairy mound.

Afterwards Johanna is pissed at Astrid for not informing her of the danger, and we learn that Johanna herself actually was lost in the fairy realm once as a child. I…. Feel like this still isn’t the whole story though. Idk, just a feeling. I had some thoughts about it though, and decided that they’re probably all too real-world dark for the scope of this show so probably not.

The gang head back home to Trollburg early, we get a shot of two figures looming over the fairy mound annnnd….. that’s as far as I’ve gotten!

Geez I’ve written a lot. If you’ve finished reading this….. welp I guess you know all my overly attached thoughts about a random ass cartoon now! congratulations?

RIP Frida, the mexican rescue dog (2009 - 2022) 🐕‍🦺

Frida, a search-and-rescue Labrador who became a national hero after helping to locate earthquake victims amid debris across the Americas, has passed away due to natural causes, Mexico’s Navy reported Tuesday. She was 13 years old.

Memorialized on a stamp in 2018, Frida was deployed to disaster zones to help find survivors and victims across Mexico as well as in Haiti and Ecuador.

Following Haiti’s 2010 earthquake, Frida located 12 survivors amid the rubble and helped locate 43 deceased victims following other disasters, according to Mexico’s Navy. She became a national hero after a 7.1-magnitude quake in 2017 that killed an estimated 370 in Mexico City and surrounding areas. She retired from service in 2019.

Mexico’s Navy said that Frida finished her search-and-rescue training in a record time of only eight months -- faster than the usual 12 months due to her “noteworthy aptitude.”

Earlier this year, a bronze life-size statue of Frida in her special rescue uniform comprising goggles, harness and safety boots was unveiled in her honor in Mexico City. The plaque on the statue reads in part:

“In gratitude for the affection and love that you continue to sow in our great Naval family, in millions of Mexican men and women, and beyond our borders.”

I’m glad that Frida the rescue dog, who saved 12 people after the earthquake caused so much damage and trapped and killed so many people in Mexico, was given her own statue. The goodest girl deserves it.

Obviously Squish becomes part of a search and rescue team, is there anything she sees that really shakes her up? like sat on the couch staring at the wall afterwards

She was called out for a widespread search and rescue mission during an avalanche once

She helped recover everyone but the search took days and most people didn't make it so it was mainly her and her dog recovering bodies

It messed her up for a bit and after it was over, she got on a call with Frida and Emma just to remind herself that she's still got them

MEXICO CITY, Mexico — A Mexican rescue dog who gained international fame sniffing through earthquake rubble in her protective goggles and booties died Tuesday of age-related illness, prompting an outpouring of tributes.

Frida, a labrador retriever, stole hearts searching for survivors in a school in Mexico City that collapsed after a 7.1-magnitude quake in 2017 that killed around 370 people.

A member of the Mexican marines' canine unit, Frida also took part in emergency response efforts abroad, including earthquakes in Haiti and Ecuador.

"Thank you for serving Mexico. You will always live in our hearts," the navy tweeted, vowing to uphold Frida's legacy of "nobility, loyalty and love."

Frida, who was born on 12 April 2009, completed her search and rescue training in a record eight months, compared with 12 months usually, the navy said.

She was credited with saving 12 lives during a decade-long career, before officially retiring from duty in 2019.

"We will always remember your service to the nation," tweeted President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's spokesman, Jesus Ramirez.

If someone would ask me what are my favorite suoerheroes, among them I would mention the rescue dogs that saved a lot of lifes after the 2017 earthquake in México. So selfless creatures, they give everything to us without asking for nothing in exchange. ¡Vivan los héroes que nos legaron seguridad y esperanza! Long live the heroes that gave us security and hope! Meet Mexico's unlikely hero: a 7 year old labrador named Frida. Frida is part of the special Canine Search and Rescue Group that works with the Mexican Marine, and prior to yesterday's earthquake she had saved 52 lives in Honduras, Ecuador, Haiti, and Oaxaca. She started her training when she was two years old, and she hasn't stopped making our country proud ever since. After the 7.1 earthquake that happened on September 19th, Frida was quick to get to work, and she has been able to rescue 12 lives so far, aside from locating the bodies of more than 20 people.
