Is anyone else as obsessed with the Wayhaven Chronicles as I am??? It's incredibly well written, I love the story, I adore the characters, I was surprised by certain events multiple times, and I fricking love that I can make decisions which determine how the story develops.
Very excited to continue reading/playing!!!

Favourite books of 2023
Ok, so I’ve done my favourite fics of the year post, but I have also read A LOT of books in 2023 (Goodreads has me at 114 and I KNOW it’s missing things because it’s rubbish at tracking rereads). Here are my ten faves, in order of what I saw first on my Goodreads ✌️:
A Marvellous Light, by Freya Marske. I read this 3 times in 2023, and am maybe possibly (definitely) trying to branch out from RWRB fic and write something for Robin and Edwin. No I have not yet read the last in the trilogy, but I will soon.
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, by Gabrielle Zevin
The House in the Cerulean Sea, by TJ Klune
Open Water, by Caleb Azumah Nelson
The Trees, by Percival Everett
Come Again, by Robert Webb (yes, that Robert Webb)
By the Book, by Jasmine Guillory
I can’t pick only one, so: the entire Lucy Barton series by Elizabeth Strout
Carrie Soto is Back, by Taylor Jenkins Reid
What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat, by Aubrey Gordon
Honourable mentions to these rereads, all books that I love: Circe, Call Me By Your Name, Check, Please! (1 and 2). And Red, White and Royal Blue lol.

~~~~
Dominant Hand: Both
Height: 6'5
---------
Personality: Haru is a tease and tends to like pushing peoples buttons in order to get them to react a certain way. Despite his pranks, teasing and all that, he very genuinely cares for those around him and is willing to help them out with anything they need. A protector of the freshman in Pomefiore, he's not afraid to tell Vil off if he feels the male is pushing any of the freshmen too hard, reminding him that they're not 2nd or 3rd years like they are. He's blunt when it comes to it, telling Vil exactly how it is all while holding the freshman he's protecting close to him.
Since Golden is Epel's watchman, Haru is Epel's mentor, teaching the boy how to be a proper Pomefiore student all while still being himself, teaching Epel to not change himself for others. Haru is a comforting presence to freshmen of other dorms as well, and is unsurprised if someone like Jack, Ace or Ortho come to him for some kind of help.
A user of powerful teleportation magic, Haru takes the Pomefiore freshman to new places he think they'd end up enjoying and having fun at. He only does this once a week as to not accumulate too much blot.
----------
Unique Magic
Move The Place, Haru's UM allows him to move any of the dorms temporarily but he only uses it when asked by a Dorm Leader or the Headmaster. He also gets access to a moving home of his own but keeps it hidden far from the island.
Spell: "Let's move and groove everyone!! Move The Place!"
---------
Trivia:
-He's childhood friends with Vil and Jack -Like Vil he is a model but he takes on less flashy ones as to not attract too much attention -He's been labeled as a Womanizer, which always hurts his feelings and makes him huddle in a corner -He tends to get overly aggressive at times without warning -Rook states that Haru goes to bed immediately after school or club, the reason why is unknown -In the prologue Haru made a brief appearance and warned Ollie to not let Grim get close to a Diasomnia freshman, hinting that he knows something
My year in books!
(not the exact reading order)
The Wall - Marlen Haushofer Loved this book, it's really powerful. But it deals with difficult themes and if you are very sensitive about animals, maybe steer clear. Although it's very important to the story and it would be a shame if that would deter you from this wonderful book. Wat stilte wil - Arthur Japin Read this for my book club - there is only a Dutch version as far as I know. I did not like it, so that's probably for the best. A Restless Truth - Freya Marske Sequel to A Marvellous Light - magic and lesbians on an ocean liner. It's a really fun read! Under the Whispering Door - TJ Klune This hit hard with my dad recently passed - it was lovely and soothing, though. Green Creek series - TJ Klune If you want to lose yourself to a new series, this is the one. Not what I was expecting, based on his other books, but in the MOST delightful way. The House in the Cerulean Sea -TJ Klune I love everyone in this bar orphanage The Witch's Heart - Genevieve Gornichec The story of Angrboda, Loki's first wife, the mother of Hel, Fenrir and Jormungandr. I really enjoyed this retelling of Norse mythology. Red, White & Royal Blue - Casey McQuiston The writing wasn't great, but you know - it was fun. Carrie Soto is back - Taylor Jenkins Reid Loved this - perfect summer read (if you enjoy tennis matches) A Power Unbound - Freya Marske The conclusion of the trilogy. I personally vibed most with the first book, but it was absolutely lovely to see all the charachters together and solve the puzzle! Pride & Prejudice - Jane Austen A comfort reread. I've read this so many times I can probably recite it in my sleep. Just a solid book. The Haunting Season: Ghostly Tales for Long Winter Nights - Bridget Collins A wonderful collection of creepy stories, really really enjoying this! (I'm past the halfway point and I will finish this within the next few days, so I'm counting it!) Also loved the story by Natasha Pulley that featured Mori, Thaniel and Six! Any books you'd like to read from my list? Recommendations for me for next year? (always room on my to read pile) Feel free to post your list and tag me in it! (please!)
books read in 2023
WHAT, how is it already the next year, I'm not ready to be done with my 2023 reading list! This year I read 73 books, which is my lowest total since 2016. I got so distracted by just thinking about Heaven Official's Blessing constantly that I did hardly any reading of anything else for the last several months of the year!
If you want to ask me anything about any of the books I read, please feel free! I'm always happy to talk books!!
Italics indicate a reread. Each book is rated from one to five stars according to my personal reaction to it, rather than my judgement of its objective worth.
For the book asks: 4, 11, & 20? 😄📚
4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?
Taylor Jenkins Reid! I read her entire interconnected bookverse in a few months. She really has a way with cranking up the drama and making me care about complicated women. Love that for her.
11. What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read?
I'm gonna be cheeky and say Dracula 🤣 There was an audiodrama released this year in the Dracula Daily format as a podcast and it was MAGNIFICENT. I ended up reading ahead when the suspense was killing me too ahaha. I'd never read through the whole thing before so that was such a cool experience. And the same team is doing Carmilla next! Very excited for that one too.
20. What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations?
A Power Unbound by Freya Marske! It was FANTASTIC and a beautiful way to end the Last Binding trilogy. Also if you haven't read it, I think it's right up your alley 👀👀 Queer wizards set against an Edwardian backdrop and a plot to save the world? Fantastic series from start to finish. Also the first book is literally sad wet cat falls in love golden retriever who becomes fierce protector, so 😄😄😄
RULES
RULE ONE/OOC INFORMATION Hi, my name is Kel, I'm over 21+ and use the pronouns she/her. Time zone is GMT.For now, my blog will run on a queue as I'm busy with some real life stuff. But sometimes, I may come online for an hour or two, depending on my mood. Blog is selective, private and mutual only. Also OC, multi fandom and multi-muse friendly too.
 RULE TWO/THREADS AND REPLIES  Replies can take a while to reply to, but I am not ignoring anyone. Please message if I haven't replied within a month.The best way to begin threads are through sending ask memes. I will also post open starters and maybe the occasional starter call. Not really a plotting person either; prefer to go with the flow.
RULE THREE/TRIGGERS I don't really have any triggers. That being said I will tag other people's triggers the best I can, and if I don't feel free to send a message and let me know. Don't send anon hate either. We all make mistakes and can't remember everything. Regarding shipping, I'm open to anything really. That being said, don't force any ships on any of my characters. I'll just unfollow/block if it continues to happen.
RULE FOUR/ETIQUETTE I do not tolerate any forms of hate. Racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia and any other forms of hate are not tolerated on this blog and I don't want to see any of it on the dash. It's an immediate hard block if I see anything. Respect each other, it's not that hard.
RULE FIVE/SHIPPING. Regarding shipping, I'm open to anything really. That being said, don't force any ships on any of my characters. I'll just unfollow/block if it continues to happen. I mostly ship for chemistry, but don't mind discussing ships beforehand if anyone wants to try anything out.
RULE SIX/SMUT AND MATURE THEMES Smut will not be featured on this blog. All other mature themes will be tagged accordingly and I'm pretty much open to anything except rape, incest etc.
CREDIT All gifs, icons etc on this blog do not belong to me. Credit goes to their rightful owners.
@duquesademiel tagged me to share my top 10 books (1) of the year so here they go in no specific order bc i read a lot this year and if i think too much about it i will combust (it's dec 30th, it's illegal to think too much)
but since it's still me, you also get a loose synopsis and we can pretend this is also a book rec list, okay? it's a win-win, i know.
📚 Babel: An Arcane History by R. F. Kuang
a postcolonial view of steampunk magic England from 1982. revolution and all its ugly but powerful reality. long, but really worth it.
📚 Cenizas de Carnaval by Mariana Travacio
a collection if short stories focused on the fragility of life. read it in august i think but i still think about the stiry of the man and the glue
📚 Under The Whispering Door by T. J. Klune
magic and grief and gay and death and gay and life and GAY. loved it. not as much as the house in the cerulean sea, but really loved it
📚 Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
reading this with sand under my feet and the sound of the ocean was one of my best ideas, ngl. interesting story, not one of my faves, but it was good
📚 A Spoonful of Murder by J. M. Hall
murder solved by retired teachers. 10/10
📚 The Embroidered Book by Kate Heartfield
the story of the life of marie antoinette and her sister charlotte except they can do magic. what are you waiting for??? go and read it!!
📚 Operación Masacre by Rodolfo Walsh
non-fiction retelling of the events that occurred on july 9th, 1956, when 12 civilians were arrested in Argentina before being illegally executed
📚 Orlando by Virginia Woolf
mock-biography of the famous poet of the 17th (and 18th, and 19th, and 20th) century, Orlando.
📚 The Grimrose Girls by Laura Pohl
fairytale retellings with a macabre twist, very focused on friendship and #girlpower [part of a duology]
📚 Nosotros dos en la tormenta by Eduardo Sacheri
historical fiction about two friends from opposing revolutionary units in 1975's Argentina
📚 A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske
fantasy historical fiction about two members of the bureaucracy who represent two different worlds (that of magic humans and normal humans) who must work together when the imposition of one world over the other puts all of them at risk. [part of a series]
📚 The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic
invented sports. found family. mafia. gay and ace. it reads like a fanfiction both derogatorily and affectionately, so read at your own risk, but i did read all three books in three days
📚 El Juguete Rabioso by Roberto Arlt
alternatively titled "Silvio Astier Tries To Be The Most Successful Thief Of Buenos Aires And Fails Spectacularly At It (HAPPY ENDING)"
📚 Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
not a synopsis bc you know what the book's about but just a note to say that i had this books since my last year of highschool and only now i got to read it, so yay me, tying loose ends from the worst period of my life
📚 Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhis
a prequel to jane eyre told from the point of view of bertha mason, previously known as antoinette cosway
📚 A Mercy by Toni Morrison
1680s story about a family of misfits and what happens to this group of slaves when the man who enslaved them dies
open tag bc if you made it this far i want to know what you've read so i can get recs for next year 👀
(1) sol fucked up so you get +10 recs, but you don't have to be insane like me and you can o it the normal way
