Pitchoun!, 545 S Olive St, Los Angeles (Downtown), CA 90013
Tumblr media
Pitchoun! was founded by a married French couple. They have a huge variety of baked goods, baked on site as well as sandwiches, salads, toasts, tartines, wine, beer, espresso bar, etc. It’s a boulangerie, patisserie, and café. Prices are high – e.g., avocado toast is $15.95.
Baked goods include baguettes, turnovers, canneles, scones, muffins, macarons, morning buns, choquette, croissants, eclairs, tarts, cakes, etc. They have the croissant of the moment, the wheel croissant but there was only one flavor, Nutella.
Tangerine flower croissant ($5.10): Created for the Lunar New Year, the croissant was in a shape of a flower with five petals with a tangerine dome (like a pate de fruit). The croissant was your typical butter croissant only in a different shape. It was a bit dry. The tangerine dome didn’t have much tangerine flavor. Disappointed.
Macarons: I got two. The vanilla one deflated/fell apart when I bit into it – never had that happen with a macaron before. Both were bland.
I noticed the cracks in the glaze of multiple eclairs. The muffins didn’t look special. The space is attractive. Parking is very difficult since it’s in the downtown core.
3 out of 5 stars
