#dicadelivro hoje por aqui! Nessas últimas semanas eu li Uma Voz ao Vento de Francine Rivers, e digo que me surpreendi muito com a história. Entre muitas qualidades, posso listar alguns fatos que me tocaram mais, e acredito que sejam ótimos motivos para ler o livro: - Entender como era a mentalidade do povo romano na época e os motivos pelos quais aconteciam os jogos em arenas sangrentas; - Compreender como se deu de fato a transição do judaísmo ao cristianismo, e as diferenças de mentalidade entre as duas religiões; - Acompanhar uma personagem que serve de exemplo de cristã e de espírito excelente; - Aprender a ser gratos pelo que temos agora, e vivenciar a verdadeira liberdade. É bacana quando lemos algo e sentimos que a leitura não é em vão, que estamos aprendendo algo que acrescenta na nossa vida. It’s been a lovely day, sunshine green hills and a lovely brunch with my parents ❤️❤️ So many memories made. Now, crackling fire, raindrops hitting the windows and this book. A treat I’ve been savoring from a favorite author #francinerivers #themasterpiece is about an artist with a secret wild side and a young single mother - both trying to find their paths and paint 🎨 what life could look like. She’s such a talented author who’s really influenced my #writerslife and all this talk of paint is making me want to pick up a brush again. What are you reading today? The Sick Book Tag

I was tagged by @happybibliosaurus to do this tag, I can’t believe it! Lol this is my first one so bear with me :)

1. Diabetes - a very sweet book: 

Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult, I read so many romance style books though that if you ever need a recommendation I would be the one you’d want to come to, lol so I could name several, But Between the Lines was one that was overly sweet and I liked it at the time but thinking back on it it’s kind of sickeningly sweet haha

2. Chickenpox - a book that you read once and will not read again:  

Probably the Harry Potter series, I loved it but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to read it again, it just won’t be the same...

3. Influenza - a contagious book that spreads like a virus:  

Katie McGarry��s series Pushing the Limits really caught me, I was obsessed with those books for the longest time! And she kept coming out with more!

4. The Cycle - a book that you read every month, every year, or very often:  

The Yada-Yada Prayer Group series by Neta Jackson, it’s so weird too because it has to do with moms and married women and I first read it when I was like 13 and I loved it and I keep rereading it and I don’t know why, although now I’m married so it makes a little more sense lol

5. Insomnia - a book that kept you up all night:  

I don’t normally stay up super late even to finish a book, there have been only two times I’ve stayed up til 2am or later (on purpose) while in my room by myself, one was for the movie Now Is Good which is based on the book Before I Die by Jenny Downham (I can’t remember if I stayed up all night to read this one), and the other time was to finish reading By The Time You Read This I’ll Be Dead by Julie Ann Peters and that was mostly because it was a depressing book and I have a very hard time going to sleep after reading a depressing book and I had to finish it! (That has been the last depressing book I’ve read.)

6. Amnesia - a book that’s been forgotten and failed to leave an impression on you:  

The Sound of Letting Go by Stasia Ward Kehoe, I’m sure there have been countless others, but I can’t remember them lol and I didn’t start using Goodreads until a little over a year ago so I didn’t keep track.

7. Asthma - a book that took your breath away:  

Redeeming Love! By Francine Rivers, This book was utterly amazing and tore at me so many times and I have fallen so in love with it and I will not be able to ever forget it and one day I will buy it because I would love to read it over and over and over!

8. Malnutrition - a book that lacked food for thought:  

The American Fairy series by Sarah Zettel, it just was really boring and slow and was dull, I normally like faerie things too! 

9. Motion Sickness - a book that took you on a journey through time and space:  

The Hourglass series by Myra McEntire, the cover really intrigued me and I got hooked on those, I think those are the only ones I’ve ever read with time travel.

#TheWritersDilemma No.9 Are you a writer? Do you love timeless stories, like the classic tales of Disney or Bible Stories? Are you familiar with old folk tales passed through tradition, and wonder as to their origins? Though their are millions of stories to tell, many stories are adaptations or retellings of the same. And these stories can be even more beautiful in the way they adapt to change in time and culture, and are made relevant to new readers. It is not always necessary to start from a blank slate when story telling. You can continue a story you always loved, or even go back and reconsider what birthed the story or how things could have been different if one thing changed in the story. So, if you had to choose, would you rather retell a Bible story or parable set in modern times, or another classic tale of old? It's not really a dilemma, because you could actually do both, with different novels. The thing with Bible stories is that many of them have been done and done again. Even if your story is completely different, similarities could easily be drawn between your work and that of others. An example with my experience is my story #Broken. It is my adaptation of the #Hosea story, set in modern day Nigeria! Nothing at all like #FrancineRivers' #RedeemingLove, which was set in olden day America. Her plot was entirely different. Plus mine was written in the first person, with a few monologues! Yet, people make comparisons to the story, because of the powerful central message we both communicate. But it's okay, because I loved Francine's book. However, it was nowhere in mind while writing Broken. Add into the mix are #theprincewarriors by @priscillashirer and @ginadetwilerauthor 📚 and #becomingmrslewis just for me, by @pattichenry I’m also excited to start the 13 series with #theglasscastle by @jerrybjenkins and @trishawhitepriebe ❤️ . Are you enjoying fall? I noticed the tree outside my window just turned pretty colors right next to our shed. I put a little fox there because we used to have a fox family that would watch the sunrise with two of its pups on top of the shed every morning. They are pretty precious and I always see squirrels doing their antics in the tree when I am writing.
