Skylights: Essays in the History and Contemporary Culture of Astrology edited by Frances Clynes (2022)
From the introduction by Frances Clynes and Dr. Nicholas Campion: ‘Astrology...interprets the past, manages the present and predicts the future, sometimes in detail, sometimes in terms of general possibilities. It is situational in that it situates affairs on Earth within the wider environment, including the sky, and it is contextual in that it locates human life within a context provided by the stars and planets, whether they are seen as signs or influences, powers in themselves, agents of the divine, or indications of a deep, cosmic order of which we all are part. It presumes a universe in which all things are entangled, or to use a modern term, interconnected. That life on Earth is interconnected with the wider universe is why, astrology claims, it is possible to read one pattern in another, and to read the pattern of human life in the patterns formed by the planets. It is a hermeneutic, approaching the sky as a text, in the same way as scholars analyse literary forms. As Francesca Rochberg said of Babylonian astrology, the stars constitute a kind of ‘heavenly writing’.[2] It carries into modern culture key characteristics of what we know as indigenous thought, including a respect for the unity of all things and a regard for cyclical time.’

Semi-Finals Roundup
Spain oust defending champions France to reach first-ever final
The Spanish men's team created history on semi-finals day of the European Team Championships at Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham, as they sensationally beat defending champions France in a long and dramatic match to reach the final for the first time.
In tomorrow's final they'll play many-time champions England, who beat Spain 4-0 in their pool match and tonight ousted local rivals Scotland in a late night encounter.
The women's final will be between top seeds England and France, for the sixth year in a row, as they beat Belgium and Scotland in contrasting style.
England's women have only lost once in the 41-year history of the event and extended their winning run against third seeded Belgium as Victoria Lust and Sarah-Jane Perry won the opening two matches.
Lust was tested in the first two games by Yara Delagrance before easing through the third while Perry was taken to four by Nele Gilis - who led 9-7 in two of the games she lost. Laura Massaro won the dead rubber, coming from a game and 8-3 down to beat Tinne Gilis.
France had to come from behind after Scotland's Georgia Adderley battled her way to a 3-2 win over Melissa Alves, recovering from losing the fourth 11-2 to take the decider 13-11 on her fourth match ball.
Camille Serme and Coline Aumard repaired the damage for France with three-nil wins to take them through to a sixth successive final against England.
Spain's astonishing win came after Gregoire Marche had put the French ahead with a tough four-game win against Borja Golan, the 16-time Spanish champion playing his 21st ETC. The rest of the Spanish team are more youthful, and they needed all their energy and determination to complete a stunning comeback.
Current national champion Edmon Lopez fought back from one-two down to beat Victor Crouin, blitzing the decider 11-1, and Bernat Jaume put Spain 2-1 up with a three-nil win over Benjamin Aubert.
This left France's Lucas Serme needing a 3-0 win, while Spain's Iker Pajares needed to take two games. Serme took the lead, Pajares levelled and then had an effective match ball before Serme regained the lead 12-10. The Spaniard now needed just 6 points in the fourth game give Spain the win but he did better than that, taking the game 12-10 to put Spain through on games countback after 104 minutes.
"It's unbelievable," said Golan. "In an individual sport to play for a team in events like this is the best squash has given me. This is a great event every year, but to make the final after so many years, with a group of players like this, I'm so proud."
Spanish manager Jonas Gonerup, who won the ETC title with Sweden in 1982, said:
"Not bad, but they need to go one better to equal me! Seriously, they're such a good team. After losing the first match and Edmon being 1-2 down in the second they fought back so well. After Edmon won, Bernat knew he needed a 3-0 to put us in the driving seat and he did just that. We knew Iker could win, but Lucas played so well but so did Iker.
"It's a great team effort, they were all very strong physically and mentally when it came to the crunch and I'm very proud of what they've achieved tonight."
England won through to their 27th consecutive final with an assured win over Scotland, who were back in the semi-finals after missing out last year. Greg Lobban took the first game against Declan James, but thereafter it was all England as James took the next three, Tom Richards beat Angus Gillama in three - coming from 0-6 in the third - and Daryl Selby took the two games that England needed against Rory Stewart to end a long day in Birmingham.
Finals are at 11.00 and 13.30 tomorrow, with the women’s 3rd/4th on the Glass Court at 09.00.

He then ventured north, recorded three further albums “Step Out!”, “Friday Night Again” (released in Denmark) and “Triple Echo” and mixed teaching with regular gigging around the region. Boyle recorded two solo albums for Gull Records, “The Dancer” and “Electric Glide”. The band split as a result of management problems and the demise of British Lion Music, an offshoot of British Lion Films. There was one last line-up change in 1977, with only Boyle surviving from previous personifications, alongside Geoff Downes on keyboards (later in YES and ASIA), Steve Shone on bass and Colin Wilkinson on drums, but this new ISOTOPE never went beyond the rehearsal stage, only recording a couple of radio sessions. Brown and second keyboardist Zoe Kronberger were added at that point, but gigs became sparser. In March 1976, a third album, “Deep End”, was recorded (production duties were handled by BRAND X’s Robin Lumley), with Hopper playing on only his own composition “Fonebone”. At that point, management problems resulted in a very difficult financial situation and Hugh Hopper decided to leave. In December 1975, Scott left and was replaced by Frank Roberts. Percussionist Aureo DeSouza was then added to the line-up for a European tour, and drummer Jeff Seopardie also reinforced the band for British dates later that year. Intensive touring in Britain followed, and a US tour was undertaken in March and April 1975. The writing was now shared equally between Boyle, Scott and Hopper. They then entered the studio, with Poli Palmer (ex-ECLECTION and FAMILY) producing, to record “Illusion”. The new line-up embarked on a UK tour in June and July, followed by dates in Germany and the Netherlands in August. They were replaced by Laurence Scott, a semi-pro keyboard player, and Hugh Hopper (formerly of SOFT MACHINE), whom Boyle had met while working with STOMU YAMASH'TA (Japanesse fusion band). Due to their success, it seemed that Brian Miller & Jeff Clyne were unable to handle the success, so they left in March of 1974. In the same poll ISOTOPE picked up fourth place in both LP of the year. Even guitarist Gary Boyle was voted top 3 guitarist in Britain during the time due to a poll in Melody Maker magazine. In 1974, they release their debut album, which is self-titled in 1974 & become quite critically acclaimed & fortunately, the band gained equal acclaim for their live performances. The band soon signed with Gull Records in England and Motown in the USA, and started touring colleges and clubs around Britain, as well as touring on the continent such as: France, Germany and Scandinavia. ISOTOPE are Jazz-Rock British based quartet formed in 1973 by guitarist, Gary Boyle with Nigel Morris (drummer), bass player Jeff Clyne (bass) (Jeff previously was a member of Ian Carr’s Jazz-Rock group: NUCLEUS) and Brian Miller (keyboards). They are a tiny minority, seen by many as weird or crazy experimenters, but in the near future we may be calling them pioneers. This film explores life as a cyborg through the stories of a few current ones and how close scientists are to taking the leap. The film will consider the philosophical, ethical and legal implications of going beyond human by letting machines become part of us. Post-Film Panel: The screening will be followed by an in-depth discussion with modern day cyborgs from Grindhouse Wetware, a biotech startup in Pittsburgh that enhances human capabilities through augmentation and develops initiatives for biohackers. We remember.
16 years ago, my church held an impromptu service in the wake of 9/11. There was only a preliminary list of the people killed. Everybody drew little sheets of paper with a name on it from a basket, and during the prayer we each read the name we held aloud at the same time. The name I got was Stephen Dimino. I make a point to say his name out loud several times a day every 9/11.
I put a list of their names under the cut. You will be scrolling for a long time. I encourage everyone to pick out a name, write it down and say it in whatever form you communicate best be it AAC, sign language, or even keeping a photo of that person with their name if you can find a photo of them.
Some say a person’s memory stays alive as long as their name is still read or spoken. I can’t bring back the people who died that awful day, but I can use this platform to put their names out there so their memory stays alive.

Farag and Welily head 2019 U.S. Open Draws
The 2019 FS Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships draws have been released, and Egypt's world number ones Ali Farag and Raneem El Welily lead the field as top seeds,
The tournament takes place from 5th to 12 October at Drexel University's Daskalakis Athletic Center in Philadelphia.
The U.S. Open is the first of eight PSA Platinum events of the 2019-2020 PSA World Tour season. After becoming the first major event to offer prize money parity in 2013, the U.S. Open will offer equal prize money for a seventh straight year with a record $371,000 split evenly between the forty-eight-player men’s and women’s draws.
Reigning champions Mohamed ElShorbagy and Raneem El Welily will return to defend their crowns, while men’s world No. 1 Ali Farag and women’s world No .5 Nour El Tayeb will also star in Philadelphia - two years after their U.S. Open triumphs saw them become the first married couple in sporting history ever to win the same major sports title on the same day.
Farag, a Harvard graduate, leads the men’s draw and receives a bye into the second round where he will face either compatriot Karim Ali Fathi or England’s Daryl Selby. The 2017 champion is seeded on the same side of the draw as world No. 7 Mohamed Abouelghar, Peru’s world No.8 Diego Elias and former world No.1 Karim Abdel Gawad, who he is seeded to face in the semifinals.
Mohamed ElShorbagy weighs in as the two seed on the opposite side of the draw. The world No.2 will take on either Spain’s Borja Golan or Mexico’s Arturo Salazar in round two.
The elder ElShorbagy brother is bidding to join Peter Nicol as the only men's four-time U.S. Open champions, and is seeded on the same side of the draw as Germany's 2018 finalist Simon Rösner, who along with New Zealand’s Paul Coll and Egypt’s world No. 3 Tarek Momen, who he could meet in the semifinals.
Pan American Games double gold medalist and Wayne, Pennsylvania-native Todd Harrity will play Australia’s Ryan Cuskelly in round one on the ASB GlassCourt Saturday, October 5, at 6:30pm. Harrity's Pan Am Games gold-medal-winning teammate and Penn junior, Andrew Douglas, slots in as one of two men's wild cards and will face England's Declan James on the glass court Saturday, October 5, at 4:45pm. Yale's Spencer Lovejoy will make his U.S. Open wild card debut on the glass court against Egypt's Mazen Hesham Saturday at 2:30pm.
In the women’s draw, world No.1 El Welily will begin her title defense either against compatriot Nadine Shahin or wild card Laila Sedky, a top-ranked U.S. junior.
The Egyptian is seeded to come up against France’s world No. 3 Camille Serme, who won the tournament back in 2016, in the semifinals and also has England’s No.1 Sarah-Jane Perry and New Zealand’s world No. 6 Joelle King on her side of the draw.
Reigning World Champion Nour El Sherbini enters the draw at the opposite end and faces either Team USA's Pan Am Games double gold medalist Sabrina Sobhy or Egypt’s Mayar Hany in round two. The two-time runner-up will be looking to get her hands on the coveted trophy for the first time in her career, but has the likes of 2019 British Open winner Nouran Gohar, world No. 5 Nour El Tayeb and home favorite Amanda Sobhy standing in her way on her side of the draw.
Sobhy, Team USA's Pan Am Games triple gold medalist this summer, will open up her tournament either against U.S. teammate Olivia Fiechter or England's Emily Whitlock on the glass court Sunday, October 6, at 5:45pm. Sobhy is seeded to face El Sherbini in the quarterfinals.
U.S. Champion Olivia Blatchford Clyne will take on England’s Lucy Turmel in round one on the glass court Saturday at 5:45pm, which could set up a second round encounter with New Zealand's world No. 6 Joelle King.

WCA #127 with Craig Schumacher
Working Class Audio Session #127 with Craig Schumacher!!!
Craig Schumacher has been making noise unprofessionally since 1985. He's managed to carve out a niche in the desert southwest by be part of an eclectic scene that bubbles out of Tucson and has been an integral part of the sound of Calexico and Giant Sand, and has recorded artists like Neko Case, Amos Lee, KT Tunstall, Roger Clyne, Left Over Salmon, The Jayhawks, Steve Wynn, and John Doe at WaveLab. He is also a sought after mixer and has been to France, Sweden, LA, NYC, Austin, and New Orleans for mix jobs. He is also an adjunct professor at Scottsdale Community College for the past ten years.
Craig crashes at Matt's house for a night while on his way to record the new Calexico record. Naturally an interview that was long overdue was in order.

I was tagged by @abybweisse <3 Thank you, dear! :) Nicknames: well... some people call me Anna, short form of my name, my parents “Dedé”, my sisters “Pi”. Who knows how my cat Jack would call me... XD
Last Thing I Googled: “Crow boy” by Taro Yashima: drawings. I need to take some ispiration for my thesis project... *I have to create a book*
Last TV Show I Watched: I still have to watch the newest episode of The Originals, so... the last tv show: LA PORTA ROSSA (the Red Door), a series I’ve been in love with since its beginning.
What I’m Wearing Right Now: white hooded shirt with Disney characters, black leggins, warm socks. <3 Ah, and a bracelet with a dolphin! XD
When I created This Blog: December 2015. <3
The Kind of Stuff I Post: mangas/tv series related (mostly Kuroshitsuji/The Originals) as well as personal opinions, artwork, quotes and Kushiel’s Legacy related stuff (how sad that this fandom is pretty dead ç__ç). Why I Chose My URL: Lacus is Lacus Clyne from Gundam Seed/Destiny and it is the nickname I also use on web. White Queen is the nickname Dullindal gave her in Destiny because she was the White Queen on his chessboard, so: white-queen-lacus. <3 Do I get Asks Regularly: Nope. Usually I got them when I post something interesting (mostly about The Originals). Lucky Number: nope. I am the queen of bad luck. Cats or Dogs: Cats all my life!! Cats are life!! Team Sebastian and cats!! Hogwarts House: never been so much into HP, so I don’t know! XD Maybe Ravenclaw. Favorite Singers: considering the amount of songs in my Ipod... Kalafina, I think. But the most important thing for me is the song. :) Favorite Characters: mh... well, this is a long thing. Kushiel’s Legacy: Imriel and Sidonie de la Courcel, Joscelin Verreuil, Phédre no Delaunay, Maslin de Lombelon. Psycho Pass: Kougami Shinya, Tsunemori Akane, Ginoza Nobubu XD, Masapapi, Karanomori Shion and my guilty thought: Crudelio de Mon aka Tougane Sakuya XD. Code Geass: Kururugi Suzaku, Euphemia and Cornelia li Britannia, Hyuga Akito, Leila Malcal, the W-0 except Pierre XD, Eliza. <3
Number of Followers: more or less 80. Ten Random Facts About Me. 1) I am a very anxious person (I’ve been suffering from panic attacks for months... ç_ç) 2) I have a degree in Modern Literature. If everything goes according to the keikaku, I should graduate for the second time in Primary Education in October. 3) I would kill for sweets. 4) I think I am unable to love somebody. The fact that my previous and only relationship with a boy made me p*ssed off still let me think about my ability to love someone. 5) ... that also means that I am not so good at understanding people. 6) ... anyway my hidden dream is to have children... two at least. I’ve always chosen their names! <3 7) In case of difficult: I am a control freak. XD 8) I love writing my original stories. My first “official” work took 4/5 years of time to be completed but I am proud of the result. 9) I tend to imagine most of the scenes from the stories I write. Currently, I often think of my second work (which is still in stand-by because of university): a scene of truth revealing! è_é 10) I finished my last teacher-training just yesterday! <3 Five Things You’ll Find in My Bag: wallet, safety little bag (with medicines), a bottle of water, lots of cleenexes (is this the plural? o_o), my phone, my Ipod... well, they are six... basically whenever I need something there is no way I can find it in time! XD Five Things You’ll Find In my Bedroom: beds? XD A wallboard with personal photos (mine and my sisters’), tv, some peluches and I don’t know what else in particular. Five Things I Want To Do In Life: could I steal your thoughts, @abybweisse? Because it is the same for me! :) The only difference is that I don’t have any debts, for now (you know, I think that Italy is the most vexed country in the world), so... I would like to earn looots of money. Five Things I’m Currently into Right Now: my thesis. ç_ç This is the only thing at the moment. Five Things on my To-Do List: I don’t have five things: by now I’d just like to be more active outside my “personal world”. I really spend too much time at home... ç_ç Aaah, yes, also, eating a cheesecake with my best friend in Bari (the town where I study) and I should do some footing... XD Five Things People Might Not Know About Me, or Five More Random Facts About Me: 1) I use to chit-chat with my cat. 2) If I am not satisfied with my works I destroy them (ask my sister about the cover of Crow Boy I made few hours ago... XD). 3) People often say that I am well educated, sweet, caring, sometimes they said “you are the perfect girl”... let me say that my real name is Yukino Miyazawa... XDDD 4) I am fond of musicals. 5) Even though I am not so good at singing, I really like to do it! XD Again, thank you for having tagged me!! :D I tag: @thelittlestofthewolves @thetragicking and the lovely @2rsask ! <3

Calvert-Lewin Inspiration
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin says England under-21s are taking inspiration from the success of Liverpool and other English sides in Europe last season as they look to salvage their European Championship campaign.
The Young Lions were beaten 2-1 by France in their opening game earlier this week with Dominic Solanke preferred to the former Sheffield United star.

Spurs squad boasts 15 more trophy wins than Liverpool counterparts
Tottenham squad has won 15 other trophies than their Liverpool counterparts … but Alberto Moreno is the only player who has played and won a European final
Liverpool and Spurs meet in the Champions League final in Madrid on June 1
Tottenham & # 39; s players have won 52 trophies between them in … but none for Spurs [194590010]

Alberto Moreno played and won the 2014 Europa League final with Sevilla
Published: 22:05 BST, May 28, 2019 | Much is made of the fact that Liverpool Jurgen Klopp and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino have not won a trophy yet with their current clubs.
Traces have not lifted a piece of grand silverware since they were struck Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup final, while the last Liverpool trophy in the same competition won in 2012.
But one of those bare runs ends in style on Saturday night when the two clubs meet in a completely English final Champions League in Madrid

It will be Klopp's fourth cup final with Liverpool and a second in the Champions League
Klopp also lost from the Champions League final as manager from Dortmund – to Bayern Munich in 2013 – but he did lead the Westfalenstadion outfit to two Bundesliga titles and one German cup before they move to Anfield
Pochettino has never won a trophy as a manager. He came closest when Spurs were defeated by Chelsea in the final League Cup.
But Spurs has 11 players who know what it feels like to win big silverware. Tottenham & # 39; s current squadron consists of 23 players who have played in their Champions League campaign so far and among them have won 52 career trophies.
Liverpool has deployed 18 different players in Europe this season and that group has won 37 important titles.
Lucas Moura, who scored a great hat trick in the semifinals of Ajax, is the most decorated player in Tottenham & # 39; s team with 12 titles – 11 of which during his time in Paris Saint-Germain.

The most productive winner of Liverpool is the Swiss player Xherdan Shaqiri. He has won 10 medals, including one thanks to Bayern & # 39; s Champions League victory in 2013.
Daniel Sturridge also won the Champions League – with Chelsea in 2012 – but neither he nor Shaqiri played in the finale.
Not only did eleven members of their current squadron play in the Champions League final of last year, seven of them started in the final defeat of the Europa League 2016 by Seville.

Seven players who left for Liverpool in the Europa League final were able to play in Madrid "
Seven players who played in the Europa Final League final 2016 to Liverpool had started being able to play
Tracks have only one of the best players in the world. three players who have played in a European final club. Toby Alderweireld came off the bench for Atletico Madrid in the final of the Champions League 2016, who won Real with penalty & # 39; s.
Davinson Sanchez played the full 90 minutes for Ajax in 2017 when they were defeated 2-0 by Manchester United in the final of the Europa League.
Fernando Llorente has a final experience in both the Champions League and UEFA Cup, losing both times on the field. He was introduced as an 85th minute substitute for Juventus in their 2015 Champions League loss to Barcelona in Berlin. And he played the full match for Athletic Bilbao when she lost 3-0 to Atletico in the 2012 sidekick final.
Llorente has no Europa League winner, as he was an unused substitute for Seville in 2016 against Liverpool.
The only player currently in Spurs of Liverpool who can brag about playing and winning a European final is Reds Alberto Moreno left behind. He was on the pitch for the 2014 Europa League triumph victory in Seville – who saw Benfica beat in a penalty shootout after a scoreless 120 minutes.
