How Solar Batteries Enhance Grid Stability and Reliability
As the world moves toward a cleaner, greener energy future, solar power plays a crucial role in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. A major challenge in this regard pertains to renewable sources of energy such as this one-solar: since their production is completely intermittent. Solar energy is only produced when the sun is shining, meaning energy generation fluctuates throughout the day and is unavailable at night. This variability can pose challenges to grid stability and reliability. It is through solar batteries that we can now effectively utilise solar energy, thus increasing the overall strength of the energy grid.
In this blog, we look at how solar batteries help ensure grid stability and reliability, thus making renewable energy sources more reliable.
Energy Storage and Demand Management
Peak Shaving: The solar battery holds the extra energy produced during peak sun hours. This extra energy will help when demand is high and not chalk up the grid, preventing a blackout.
Load Balancing: The solar battery balances loads with the stored energy displaced when needed for peaking purposes.
Includes Renewable Energy Sources
Intermitancy Mitigation: Power generation from solar is intermittent and dependent on weather and time-of-day factors.
Batteries help Mitigate those intermittencies: storing energy when production outstrips demand and serving it up when production falls short.
Tumblr media
Flexibility to the Grid: Improving the flexibility of the grid by integrating other renewables, like wind and hydroelectric power
Improved Resilience
Backup Power: In case of a blackout, solar batteries deliver backup power, and ensure critical infrastructure and homes remain powered. It increases the strength of the energy system.
Localized Energy Solutions: Solar battery systems can be installed in distributed locations where the traditional grid infrastructure is either inadequate or nonexistent as an introduction towards energy independence and reliability.
Reduces Dependence on Fossil Fuels Lower Emissions: Stored solar energy will enable the communities to avoid depending on fossil fuel-based power plants, and therefore reduce greenhouse gas emissions and keep the environment clean.
Future of Sustainable Energy: There is a perfect integration of solar batteries with a future of sustainable energy by stimulating renewable resources.
Economic Benefits Cost Savings: The use of solar batteries may bring about savings for consumers and utilities in colossal amounts based on the reduction of peak demand charges and as a source of backup power.
Conclusion Solar batteries are not additive but integral to the enhancement of the stability and reliability of the grid. It is quite evident that they will increasingly be an important key in our quest to store energy, manage demand, and integrate renewable sources into the power mix.

https://lnkd.in/e-QPz9Wd NORWAY MOVES TO GREEN FUTURE DESPITE OIL RICHES The Nordic nation is moving faster than most in de-carbonising its economy, but it has faced criticism for not rushing to Europe’s aid in the current energy crisis. Norway has become astonishingly rich thanks to its oil and natural gas. It has been just 50 years since it began pumping petroleum and natural gas from its continental shelf and, by any measure, Norway now enjoys some of the world’s highest living standards.  Leo Cendrowicz 7 December 2022

Last weekend I had a quick chat with minister of climate change and co-leader of the Green party - James Shaw. He's pretty cool. He seems keen on ditching fossil fuels. Remember to tweet, email, write to, and speak to the people who are supposed to be representing you in government. Tell them what matters to you and what you want from them. Make your voice heard. #protest #climatejustice #fossilfuelfree #politics #march #climatemarch #greenparty @jamesshawmp #sustainability #sustainablefuture #climatechange #environment #environmentallyfriendly (at Wellington, New Zealand) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bnpr21YBUbG/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=s8gz3gxfjiyp

#TOXIC: 4 descriptions below of what #acidrain 💧 does for the #Environment 🌱 which is not sustainable, #Everyone! 😟 1. "Acid rain results when sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOX) are emitted into the atmosphere and transported by wind and air currents. The SO2 and NOX react with water, oxygen and other chemicals to form sulfuric and nitric acids. These then mix with water and other materials before falling to the ground. While a small portion of the SO2 and NOX that cause acid rain is from natural sources such as volcanoes, most of it comes from the burning of fossil fuels". 👉 https://www.epa.gov/acidrain/what-acid-rain 2. "Acid rain is the term commonly used by scientists to describe rain that is abnormally acidic. What does that mean? Well, plain distilled water, like that used in laboratories, is neutral (not acidic or basic). Since rain naturally has things dissolved in it, it will always be slightly acidic. However, when rain reacts with certain air pollutants, such as sulfur or nitrogen oxides, the water vapor converts into very diluted forms of sulfuric or nitric acids. The acidity of this rain is on par with that of grapefruit juice, which may not seem like much, but is much more caustic than plain water. The main sources of pollutants that trigger acid rain are vehicles and industrial and power-generating plants. The areas of greatest acidity are in the northeastern United States. This pattern of high acidity is caused by the large number of cities, the dense population, and the concentration of power and industrial plants in the Northeast. In addition, the prevailing wind direction brings storms and pollution to the Northeast from the Midwest". 👉 https://www.usgs.gov/mission-areas/water-resources/science/acid-rain?qt-science_center_objects=0#qt-science_center_objects 3. "Acid rain is made up of highly acidic water droplets due to air emissions, most specifically the disproportionate levels of sulphur and nitrogen emitted by vehicles and manufacturing processes. It is often called acid rain as this concept contains many types of acidic precipitation". 👉 https://byjus.com/chemistry/acid-rain/ 4. "Acid rain is caused by both human and natural sources. Natural causes include volcanoes, lightning, and decaying plant and animal matter. In the United States, fossil-fuel combustion is the primary cause of acid rain.2". 👉 https://www.treehugger.com/acid-rain-overview-and-prevention-3878348 #fossilfuelfree #gogreen #MMV #nomore #stopfossilfuels

David Attenborough brought my attention to this in his recent Netflix documentary. Billions of £s are still invested in planet-wrecking fossil fuels through local government pension funds. Most people are not aware of what their pension is invested in. There’s no time better than the present to look into this and make a switch to an ethical fund. All pension providers should offer at least one ethical fund for you to choose from 🌿 #davidattenborough #netflix #ethicalinvesting #pension #ecofriendly #sustainableliving #toptips #livegreen #greenliving #fossilfuelfree https://www.instagram.com/p/CMNi1y_H3V0/?igshid=ox7jzake7xyl

*Global Warming Alert* Please Read! 🏝 Do you enjoy going to the sea? And you dream of someday you will be snorkeling and diving on those transparent waters and see the underwater wonders of the Great Reef Barrier or the Caribbean Sea… But, Did you know that those colorful Corals could not last long enough for you to get to admire them? 🗺 Did you know that while our oceans are warming up, the corals are beginning to bleach and die? Because the temperatures are rising SO FAST that they are not having time to adjust to it. A temperature increase of just 2 degrees Celsius may not seem like a lot in the air, but for marine life, this is like living with a constant fever. . While coral reefs only cover 0.0025 percent of the oceanic floor, they generate a big quantity of the planet's oxygen and absorb nearly one-third of the carbon dioxide generated from burning fossil fuels! This means that we receive a huge benefit from them and most of people not even have a clue about this. And this is why I’ve made this lettering piece to raise awareness about this fact, and because corals worth it. ❗️❗️What can we do to make a difference? Reducing your carbone footprint with everyday actions, reduce plastic consumption and of course don't leave trash on the beach… ☑️If you want to know more I recommend you to watch @chasingcoral on @netflix It is very touching. You won’t see the oceans on the same way ever again… #Lettering #activism #chasingcoral #savetheoceans #savethecoralreef #coral #illustration

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Regains Ability to Certificate Natural Gas Pipelines
By U.S. EIA: Today in EnergyThree new pipeline projects in the northeast received approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in October, the first projects to be approved since February. FERC regained its quorum in August after the Senate confirmed two new commissioners. These confirmations ended a six-month period when FERC was unable to issue certificates to allow…
