okay but.. a quiet gamer boy bf kaneki that loves when his pretty girl bottoms herself out as he’s in the middle of a game. <3
you love kaneki, & you can accept that he has a love & passion for video games too but.. how does he expect you NOT to wanna sit on him when he looks so damn handsome all the time?!
he’s sat in that gaming chair with a baggy tee & a pair of grey sweats. he’ll even be wearing a pair of blue light glasses so that the constant gaming doesn’t do too much damage to his irises. nd he just looks so good with this combination!! ugh. it’s not even fair.
on this particular day, he’s playing fortnite with touka & hide after not touching that game for a couple of seasons. he’s giving call outs, talkin’ bout’ “116 to the body” “he’s 1 shot” “knocked.. dead.” “pushing up behind us” & just a whole bunch of shit that you didn’t care to try & understand..
you’re a little frustrated, to be honest. you had a long day at work nd you just wanna be all up under him. especially now that he’s on the game with some girl he used to have a fling with..?
“ken..”
“kennnn..!”
upon hearing that, he moves his headset behind his ear with a push of his shoulder & gives you a soft hum.
“when’re you getting off?”
“oh.. i don’t know, baby. probably not for another hour or so”
“another hour or so..??”
“yeah. what’s wrong?”
you don’t even bother answering. he shrugs his headset back on & continues to clack away at his keyboard. you’ve already made your way over to him, nd you watch him play for a little before you lift his arm & saddle yourself on to his lap. you’re thankful that he isn’t streaming today.
you begin to peck sloppy little kisses on to his neck, not really caring if it’s loud or not.. you’re kinda hoping it is, though :3. kaneki lifts his head a bit to give you more access. his pale skin is still displaying the hickies you had left just a couple nights ago nd you giggle a little bit at this. they look soso pretty on him!
a couple seconds pass by & you’re just slyly rolling your hips down on him. he knows exactly what you want out of him & he’s not gonna deny you from it. you slide yourself off his lap, now on your knees in between his legs & you take hold of the hem of his briefs & sweats before pulling them down to his lower thighs. it’s no surprise that ken is already hard.
you can’t blame him! he’s got a hot gf damn near humping him in his chair, what man wouldn’t be turned on?! i digress.
you take him in your hand & lick all the way from the base to the tip, you can feel him tense up & relax afterwards. you spit in your hand to act as lube nd stroke his dick a couple times before fully sticking him in your mouth. you’re left jerking whatever else doesn’t fit & you hear his breathing get heavier.
there’s a lewd gluck gluck (i’m so sorry 😭) coming from you as things get sloppier by the second. kaneki was now fully hitting the back of your throat, not really caring if it was difficult for you to handle or not..
touka & hide are noticing him paying less attention & his gameplay getting a bit more careless. i mean right now his character was on auto-run, & he had your hair in a makeshift ponytail as he fucked your poor throat! :(
“kaneki! they’re on the mountain building up.. there’s 20 left. focus up”
“fuck bro. i’m down.. he’s at least 5 bullets tho- push that”
“kaneki… push, maybe?? you’re selling”
“can you both get the fuck out my ear?”
ken let’s go of your hair nd tucks it behind your ears before giving his full attention to the game once again. you don’t know what he’s doing up there but he’s going crazy on his keyboard.
you pull him from your mouth with a lil “pop” sound nd climb back into his lap. your panties are now pulled to the side & you’re fully sitting on his dick.. this man leaves you so full OMGG. there’s an adorable bulge in your tummy >.<!
kaneki brings his attention to you for a brief moment to give you a quick couple of pecks, nd then he’s back to the game. you wrap your arms around his neck & use them as leverage to lift yourself up & down on his lap. the chair is making a bit of noise nd ken’s friends are now overly suspicious..
“the fuck is going on over there?”
“mind your business.”
touka rolls her eyes at his response to hide. she’s already knowing what’s going on nd she’s not too happy about it. you did kinda steal kaneki’s attention from her when they were talking. boohoo, so sad. you were just better!
you were getting a lil tired from bouncing up & down, so you began rolling your hips. ken doesn’t feel much pleasure from this but he knows how good it feels for you, he’s happy to let you use him.
“we have circle. camp this hill nd stay on high ground”
kaneki mutes his mic before he wraps his arms around you & snaps his hips up into you.
“ken- oh my god!”
“couldn’t wait till’ i got off, hm?”
you didn’t answer so his hips came to a full halt & you whined, like a puppy. “i asked you a question, sweetheart”
“look at me”
you met his eyes nd he just smiled, “you’re so pretty, holy fuck” nd he started fucking you again, no warning!
“kaneki, they’re pushing”
at this point he didn’t even care anymore. he grabbed you by your waist, then carefully lifting you off his lap. ken stands up, turns you around & bends you over just to slip himself back into your pretty cunny. he’s ruthless with the strokes too.
went from sucking to clapping sounds & his mic ain’t off no more. “can feel you in my stomach, ken”
“yeah? tell me how it feels, baby.”
“feels too good.. shit! i can’t-”
“you can, y/n. let’s finish what you started.” ken lifts your leg so that it’s resting on his desk, “ts’ too much!” you somehow felt him even deeper & it made your eyes roll back. kaneki was dying in the game, both friends collectively screaming at him over the mic.
“you can take it, i taught you better than that.” you’re babbling other things he doesn’t really care to comprehend. your hand reaches behind your back to push his hips away but he only grabs your wrist & yanks it back so there’s a bigger arch in your back :( he tells you to ‘stop trying to run’.
ken eventually bends forward a bit to rub your clit, it all feels so good. he’s balls deep inside you nd stimulating you just right. he’s way too good at what he does. you feel a knot in your stomach & you start clenching around him, “fuck y/n”
“ken, i’m gonna-”
“not yet, angel. wait for me, please?”
you love the way he talks to you.
you’re nodding nd he picks you up to carry you over to the edge of the bed, he sits down nd encourages you to ride him all over again.
“cmon, ‘wanna record my pretty girl” he says as he picks his phone up off the bed.
“are you gonna send it to touka..?” there’s a smile on your face & he kisses you, “course i will, she’ll never get to be in your place. you’re so perfect.. this pussy was made just for me”
kaneki stretches his arm out nd records the scene in front of him, the camera angle perfectly displays all of what’s going on; he smacks your ass just to show off too. it leaves you even more needy, “can’t keep holding it, kennie, please”
“keep going honey, i’m almost there.”
you propped your feet on the bed- in a squat, bouncing even harder. “what a fucken slut..!” ken let’s out a light laugh, he’s almost in disbelief. now he’s rubbing circles on your clit again nd you’re practically sobbing from the pleasure. “fuck- go ahead baby, i’m cumming”
you let yourself come undone; there’s heavy breathing for a couple of seconds after, you’re both just trying to calm your heart rates once again.
“i love you so much kaneki, never gonna leave, i swear”
“i love you too, pretty girl. get up & show me what we did, yeah?”
“mhm!” you slowly lift yourself off of his lap & sit next to him. your legs are spread & both your juices are flowing out of your cunt.. kaneki slips two fingers into you & you almost close your legs on his arm, “i’m sensitive!!”
“i know honey, i know..” he’s laughing now, “cmere, i wanna kiss you. say bye to touka”
“bye bye touka!” you cheese real hard & the video ends.
“gonna run us a bath okay, my angel? i’ll come get you when it’s done!” kaneki had slid his pants back on so he could make his way to the bathroom.
after turning on the water, he sends the video to touka with a little message: “my y/n wanted you to see this :)”
sosososososo feral for this man. :(((((
(this was extremely rushed + first time kinda writing something like this in full! bare with me as i try & get better <3)

i'm still holding off final judgement until the gameplay today, but seeing some stills on twitter kind of helped me solidify what i found so off-putting about the style in the companion trailer
although before i post those, a few counter arguments because i'm already tired of ppl bashing the ppl who aren't vibing with it, and my head is clear enough to put these thoughts down:
"cinematic trailers rarely look like the actual game" - true to a point. however: 1) typically cinematic trailers strive to look like a higher definition version of the game, which seems to be the opposite here. in the case of DAO and DA2, i would say the cinematic trailers actually strived for more realism, not stylization, as that was the trend at the time. 2) this is a cinematic trailer, but it is also done in the game engine so it's not unreasonable to assume that the end product is gonna look somewhat similar 3) this was supposed to be their best foot forward so suddenly going "don't worry, it's gonna look better in-game" is just a bad marketing move. it's not on the audience to give this company the benefit of the doubt (particularly in light of all the shit that has gone down there in the past decade)
"not everything has to be super realistic!" - agreed! not liking elements of this particular style doesn't mean i'm opposed to stylization in DA at all. i think DA2 is much more stylized than DAO, and not only does it look nicer, it looks more distinctly dragon age. DAO visually is also very generic, especially for its time. i still love the almost painterly look of DA2, even all these years later
and i think DAI has issues with the character models, especially the uncanny valley disconnect between the really stiff animations and realistic faces (having played it within the past year, they've aged pretty roughly), but in terms of environment and armor and whatnot, it did build off the style presented in DA2 in a way that effectively modernized it for that era. it did go for a more realistic look, but it was cohesive and still distinctly dragon age
"people reacted like this to DA2 and DAI's trailers too" - no, they did not, lmao. DA2's trailers were the reverse--they looked more realistic than the actual game. now there was some backlash against the stylistic choice in the actual game. i remember david gaider talking about it in a panel at dragon con in 2012--apparently ppl were upset that the companions looked like they were made with cosplayers in mind, which i thought was an interesting criticism. but no, the trailers did not get this sort of response.
and DAI's trailers used a lot of in-game footage, and the cinematic ones were both pretty accurate to the game and well-received by the audience. DAI's marketing was also absolutely bonkers and nonstop for like 9 months before the game was released, which in hindsight i think was way too much, but in terms of visuals, we knew exactly what we were getting.
"you guys just think anything with a style to it looks like fortnite" - lmao, okay, yeah, describing it as fornite is probably unfair and inaccurate, but i know for me, i kind of use it as a shorthand to reflect my general dissatisfaction with the way so many 3D styles (in both games and movies) just have this bland, cartoonish look to them. the pixar-ification of everything. i just don't like it.
and the logo with the bright purple and overly smooth text doesn't really help here either. i think a less saturated and darker purple paired with a grungier font would also help in making this feel like less like fornite season 3458345: dragon age avengers.
plus it was originally gonna be a live service game and i think that it still has some of that dna artistically
SO ANYWAY
these stills, which i think are also in-game engine but im not entirely sure if they're from cinematics, gameplay, or just renders but they seem to be in-line with the trailer:
and seeing emmrich and to a lesser extent neve in these pics solidified why the stylization didn't work for me on a visual level (never mind it being paired with the light-hearted planning-for-a-silly-little-heist vibes)
so when i first saw the trailer, and i saw varric, i was like "nice"
he looked like a higher definition, older version of a DA2/DAI hybrid of his model. he looked really good. i thought harding looked good, too. it did take me a minute to realize who she was, but it really wouldn't be a DA trailer if we weren't left wondering who tf a returning character was lmao (remember the confusion over alistair's appearance in one of the DAI trailers? this is actually tradition now)
but as the trailer goes on, the style doesn't even stay consistent--it just gets progressively more cartoonish right up to emmrich, which is the exact moment that made me go WHAT
he looks like a cartoon character. the hard lines in his face, the stiffness of his hair, his overall proportions--he looks like he should be a villain in a pixar movie. like i'm digging his overall vibe and as a concept of a character design, i love it. but this execution of it next to fellow old wrinkled man varric looks so off
and then we go right into davrin who is beautifully rendered and designed--he doesn't look out of place next to varric or harding
some characters have the soft, wispy hair while others have hair that looks like a hard shell with lines carve into it. some characters have finely detailed wrinkles while others have thick, cartoonish ones. some characters have realistic proportions while others have more exaggerated features.
stylization is only effective when it's purposeful and consistent, and from what i've seen so far, it's not. it's all over the place.
so there's my thesis about why i dont like the art direction in the trailer lmao
and like i've been saying since it dropped, i am reserving full judgment for the gameplay reveal, but based on the other stuff bioware has teased, i'm not expecting this aspect to change too much. i've seen other ppl who were on the fan council thing say the tone in the game is more in-line with the tone in the other games, so maybe that'll help smooth out this disconnect

Salutations, How did you fell in love with fortnite( esp. the nutcracker) ?
Have a joyous day 🌟
I played fortnite chapter 1 season 3 to the very start of chapter 1 season 7... the gameplay was really fun but I didn't have anyone to play with really so I ended up falling out of playing it for a year
then I saw that there was a new chapter and was like. fuck it. why not. and redownloaded the game
yeah I haven't dropped it in like 4 years (that's weird to say. how the fuck has it been that long)
and I made new friends when I got back into it and I have ppl to play with now :3
anyways as for the nutcracker I cant exactly remember... iirc it was hearing his character in save the world and I was hooked. love me some silly freak insane guys. fuck yes.
my dad actually gifted me crackshot cause I wasn't abt to spend all my vbucks on one skin and I just wanted the crackdown emote really
so after that I used him a lot and eventually just got very mentally ill over stupid fucking fortnite nutcracker bc I adore his character a lot
I've never been this like. hooked on a character before. so hooked that i get quite horribly joyous over seeing any content abt him whatsoever and will get very giggly about it
it's gotten to the point where I've started to actually collect nutcrackers for my room. and if any nutcracker cosmetic exists in a game you bet your ass im getting it

Fortnite Chapter 4: Season 4 - Last Resort.
That seems drastic. But with the circumstances, it makes sense.
This season that people somehow confuse for a spy theme is themed after a heist. A billionaire vampire with a time machine has set up camp on the island, and Nolan Chance, his crew have to steal something that Dr. Slone wants. Apparently the island's fate depends on it. They are her last resort.
I really like the battle pass characters this time around. We spend the season getting to know them and recruiting them for this heist. There's the mastermind, Nolan Chance. He's really good at a lot of things, but maintaining relationships might not be one of them. There's the stunning Antonia, baby driver Piper Pace, adorable Mae and the surprisingly thoughtful Fish Thicc.
alongside Kado Thorne, Famous Tik Tok star Khaby Lame also appears in this battle pass. It's really funny that they brought him along. He's a great addition.
...Ahsoka is strangely... there.
The loot pool made the gameplay tight. The rocket ram was a traversal item that sent you flying into the air, and straight down. This put the fear of god into the hearts of competitive players, as the risk of getting dive bombed in endgame was now there. It was pretty bad as it was funny. There was also the twin mag assult rifle, a faster but less powerful red eye. you could absolutely shred people with this thing. Further into the season, they unvaulted more fun weapons and the sort.
Speaking of new additions, the properties owned by Kado Thorne appeared on the island. Players were able to break into them and steal a random mythic item to choose from the vault underground. When you stole something from them, cool chase music also plays. Everyone in the location heard this music as the alarms went off, so escaping became a challenge with the threat of other players. This also meant for the chance of running into someone with 1/3 mythic items, since there were three of these places.
There were other patches too, like Fortnightmares. Instead of night and day, the sun was eclipsed and the blood moon rose at night during games. It's a cool detail. Fighting others under a blood moon is hard.
At the end of things, this was one of my favorite fortnite seasons, and a decent end to one of my favorite chapters. I had a lot of fun this season, and i improved a LOT. I hope the next chapter goes crazy, there were a lot of letdowns this chapter. Even though, i had fun.

The Walt Disney Company will acquire a $1.5 billion equity stake in Epic Games, and the two will collaborate on an all-new Disney games and entertainment universe connected to Fortnite that aims to expand the reach of Disney stories and experiences.
Press release
The Walt Disney Company and Epic Games will collaborate on an all-new games and entertainment universe that will further expand the reach of beloved Disney stories and experiences. Disney will also invest $1.5 billion to acquire an equity stake in Epic Games alongside the multiyear project. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
In addition to being a world-class games experience and interoperating with Fortnite, the new persistent universe will offer a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and more. Players, gamers and fans will be able to create their own stories and experiences, express their fandom in a distinctly Disney way, and share content with each other in ways that they love. This will all be powered by Unreal Engine.
“Our exciting new relationship with Epic Games will bring together Disney’s beloved brands and franchises with the hugely popular Fortnite in a transformational new games and entertainment universe,” said Robert A. Iger, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “This marks Disney’s biggest entry ever into the world of games and offers significant opportunities for growth and expansion. We can’t wait for fans to experience the Disney stories and worlds they love in groundbreaking new ways.”
“Disney was one of the first companies to believe in the potential of bringing their worlds together with ours in Fortnite, and they use Unreal Engine across their portfolio,” said Tim Sweeney, CEO and Founder, Epic Games. “Now we’re collaborating on something entirely new to build a persistent, open and interoperable ecosystem that will bring together the Disney and Fortnite communities.”
“This will enable us to bring together our incredible collection of stories and experiences from across the company for a broad audience in ways we have only dreamed of before,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences. “Epic Games’ industry-leading technology and Fortnite’s open ecosystem will help us reach consumers where they are so they can engage with Disney in the ways that are most relevant to them.”
Deepening the Epic Games & Disney Relationship
Disney and Epic Games have engaged hundreds of millions of players through Fortnite content integrations, season collaborations, in-game activations, and live events, including the Marvel Nexus War with Galactus, which drew more than 15.3 million concurrent players.
Unreal Engine is used to produce assets and content across the Disney portfolio including in the development of video games like Kingdom Hearts 3 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor; in cinematic editing and animation for film and streaming; and in the creation of more than 15 Disney Parks attractions like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
This all builds on Epic Games’ participation in the 2017 Disney Accelerator program, which seeks to impact the future of technology and entertainment.
Games Industry Growth & Disney Games Success
The digital world is growing and evolving with more than 3 billion video game players worldwide who want to move safely and seamlessly between the worlds they love, unleash their own creativity, and experience great gameplay.
Disney’s games business continues to deliver strong results since it shifted to a licensing business model in 2016. Disney is a leading games licensor working with best-in-class developers and publishers, including on the best-selling superhero game of all-time, Marvel’s Spider-Man. Licensed games from Disney garnered more than 150 award nominations, wins and other accolades in 2023, including multiple Game of the Year nominations for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Disney mobile games have 1.5 billion global installs, and to date, nine Disney games franchises have each grossed more than $1 billion in sales. In the U.S., the world’s largest games market, licensed titles from Disney regularly hit the annual top-10 best-sellers list.

Fortnite - MEGA thoughts.
This season looks rather fun in the gameplay department, lots of new mechanics, hopefully big map changes (the city looks MASSIVE,) and a lot mobility. I won't lie though, I'm very concerned for the story. I hope it is at least passable.
I never thought the Fox Clan or Peace Syndicate would have any real lore significance but here we are. Just kind of, throw in, with little build up. It looks like, based off the trailer, they'll be at conflict with each other.
My trepidation is that it feels totally disjointed from the storyline that just happened. The Oathbound, the knights, THE AGELESS (WHO IS LITERALLY GENO,) and The Rift Gate. It seems the appearance of Mega City is likely due to the rift in the sky, and the two factions are taking hold due to the chaos, but aside from that, what does this have to do with the larger story?
What happened to AMIE? The Seven? The Last Reality? Are they gonna get rid of Stellan? I fucking hope not, he's amazing, one of the best written and voiced characters in Fortnite. It feels so odd to have all this built up and then suddenly be dropped. I'm sure they'll be back at some point, but it just feels so disjointed. I guess it's a lot like Chapter 1, which is what a lot of people want, but I much preferred the storytelling of Chapter 2 and Chapter 3. If the rumors of Fortnite going back to the Chapter 1 island are true, I'd be fine with it.
I'm a little tired of the Chapter 4 island. This is mainly due to the atrocity that is the jungle biome, and the general lack of named locations that are urban-themed, can be destroyed, and constantly change throughout seasons. MEGA City and Slappy Shores are the only spots I can remember from this Chapter because of how they constantly showed changes and teasers of future updates, i.e. MEGA's billboards, and Slappy getting grind rails in C4S2 and a vault in C4S4. Brutal Bastion gets an honorable mention for being a solid spot to land at all chapter, especially when it had its vault added in C2S2.
I never watched Fortnite gameplay from 2017-2018 so I don't know how things were back then. All I know is that it was mad popular with kids, the UI was different, you couldn't mantle or sprint, and weapon spread was nasty. I really loved the Chapter 3 island's vibes (pun intended) and hope whatever comes next has something similar to the FNBR of 2022, where I started.
...Anyway, I think it's a little nuts to think that I now have a Fortnite tag on my blog. ...And on my furry blog. In my youth, I avoided playing this game because of the fear of being cringe, and because I generally dislike the battle royale genre. Minecraft Survival Games was the sole exception for my anti-battle royale dogma for quite some time until summer 2022 when my friends convinced me to try Fortnite right in the middle of Chapter 3 Season 2. I have only gotten deeper into the rabbit hole since, also getting invested in Save the World. I bought my first battle pass back then and I've spent a shameful amount of money already, but hey. It makes me happy. The world's only getting worse, and Fortnite makes me happy because I can make Itachi do the griddy and that's what counts.
If you're still here, have a song.

This is the first Victory Royale I've had in a month and a half. I don't want to say this Fortnite season has been "bad" in so many words, because I think the new jungle area is great, but in terms of what they've done with it, it's very... perfunctory. Which has been a lot of this chapter. You'd be hard pressed to wonder if Fortnite's best days are behind it.
In the early days, Fortnite used to have mystery! Intrigue! Then it had story, which was messy and poorly told. Then it got slightly better told, at the cost of demystifying and fleshing out some of its characters in such a way that it started to feel kind of lame. The personality and tone I imprinted on Fortnite's mystery was not what they ended up going with. A common pitfall.
The opening season of this chapter, Chapter 4, served as kind of an epilogue for what had happened in Fortnite up to this point. AMIE, a robot character introduced partway through Chapter 3, needed help to travel the multiverse in search of the heroes we lost in the transition to Chapter 4. In the climax of Season 1 of Chapter 4, she said goodbye to Jonesy, the guy who was literally the face of Fortnite for most of its life, and both of them disappeared.
Keep in mind that, within the story they were conveying, Jonesy didn't go anywhere. Not that they ever told us. He just stopped being in the story. Hasn't been seen or heard from again. And when he left, he apparently took the all of Fortnite's ongoing plot threads with him, because Chapter 4 Season 2 pretty much ignored everything and was about some kind of weird cyberpunk clan war. You had to "unite the clans" by doing some incredibly basic stuff like "hit an antenna with your stick." It wasn't terrible, but it didn't have anything to do with what we'd been dealing with for four years now, and by the end of the season it was clear things were coasting on fumes.
The thing about Fortnite's story is that, love or hate it, it provided secondary gameplay. It took some of the focus away from solely just winning a match and gave you a broader sense of accomplishment. Even if you only managed to finish 20th or something, maybe you got a couple of quests done and leveled up the battle pass. And, once they started doing voiced quests, maybe you got a little bit of somewhat amusing dialog to go with it. It was flavor, even if the flavor wasn't always what you wanted to taste at that particular time.
Now here we are in Chapter 4 Season 3 and things are the thinnest they've maybe ever been. A vast jungle has spread out, taking up close to a third of the entire island. It's full of ancient ruins, and there's just... nothing about it that matters.
Fortnite's story was always ongoing. You received new story quests every week or two, give or take. The map itself was always static, but things would evolve week by week. A story event might see a building get destroyed, and as the season progressed, something would happen to those ruins. Clean up vehicles would spawn around them, and trucks carrying rubble away would appear further and further down the road in every update. Fortnite's island felt alive, like people were living and working there behind the scenes in between matches.
As of this chapter, it's happening less, and less, and less. As seasons got longer, wait times between new story quest branches got longer. Last season things came to a head, with new additions to the story hitting every month and a half. You could often finish the next branch of story quests within an hour of their release, only to be told "Additional quests will be available in 48 days!"
And now, halfway through this season, those sorts of updates have grinded to a standstill. The jungle is our one big geographical update and the rest of the map hasn't been touched. I subscribe to someone on Youtube called PlaystationGrenade because he used to do these great videos breaking down all the fun changes every update, and last season he just outright gave up because there was nothing going on anymore.
There haven't even been any story quests at all this season -- audio logs are scattered around the jungle hinting at something big on the horizon, but they're mainly teasing what is probably going to be the end of Chapter 4 in December or January. It's July.
(There was a time where Fortnite didn't reboot the entire map every single year, and maybe that's contributing to this problem.)
The best we've gotten is a quest category called "Snapshots" which, since the season's launch on June 8th, has contained exactly one single snapshot. There's no plural there.
So it's not that I hate what they've done this season, it just feels like they drop a new biome on us and check out, and it's been a problem that's getting worse over time.
It maybe wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't for the fact they spent years and years and years building up all this lore, all these characters, all of this story, and then just cut that all off at the knees and dip. I would accept this as the sunsetting of Fortnite, but it feels like there's unfinished business, and I'm sure it's not as though Fortnite is suddenly "out of money", you know? It just feels like they've stopped trying, or at least stopped trying in ways that matter.
Salt in the wound is that, perhaps to make up for how little there is to do this season, it feels like they've really cranked the heat up on their matchmaking algorithm. I'm not one to complain about the perils of "skill based matchmaking" (SBMM) but these last couple seasons have thrown me into the deepest end of the pool where I clearly do not feel comfortable in. All my games are full of people who are miles above my skill level, snap to my face, and melt me in one or two shots. And, without decent quest content or meaningful map evolution to act as a buffer, it's starting to feel real stale playing this game. It really does feel like Epic's top shelf creative talent is focusing their attention somewhere else, and these kinds of scraps is all that's left for Fortnite.
Even if they're just trying to go back to the raw, original Fortnite gameplay of being a Battle Royale first and foremost, to that I say... once you lean so much on story and story quests, that's not a genie you can just put back in the bottle. Especially if their grand ending is "everybody died and the few remaining survivors stopped caring." I didn't love Fortnite's story, but if they've gone this far, they should at least wrap it up.
Of course, it wouldn't be the first time Epic ended something like this on a wet fart, I guess.
