A gunman on Sunday shot interior minister Ahsan Iqbal, a senior member of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and ally of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, as he was leaving a constituency meeting in Punjab province.

Iqbal was recovering in hospital from a bullet wound on Monday. Minister of state for interior affairs Talal Chaudhry said he was stable and in “high spirits”.

Leaders from Pakistan’s main opposition parties all condemned the assassination attempt. But a prominent official of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) opposition party said Sharif had created the backdrop for the attack at large rallies protesting his removal by the Supreme Court last July.

“We condemn it with full force. But the political climate is being seriously affected by Nawaz’s wild accusations against his opponents and creating tension and anger all over,” said Naeem ul Haq, chief of staff for former cricket star Khan.

“So if Nawaz [Sharif] continues to utter poison, such incidents will continue to occur.”

Pakistan’s Supreme Court disqualified Sharif as prime minister last July over a small source of unreported income and he is currently on trial before an anti-corruption court, though his party still holds a majority in parliament.

Sharif has denounced the court ruling as a conspiracy led by rival Khan, routinely gathering large crowds of his supporters to voice his grievances.

Sharif has Sharif has portrayed Khan as a puppet of the powerful military establishment, which has a history of meddling in Pakistani politics. Khan denies colluding with the army and the military denies interfering in politics.

Sunday’s attack heightened the sense of unease in the runup to the election, expected by late July.

Preliminary reports suggested Sunday’s attacker had links to a new Islamist political party that campaigns on enforcing the death penalty for blasphemy and replacing secular influence on government with strict sharia law.

A local administrator’s initial report on the attack, seen by Reuters, said the arrested gunman had “showed his affiliation” to the Tehreek-e-Labaik party.

“We have got nothing to do with him,” Labaik spokesman Ejaz Ashrafi said on Monday. “We are unarmed. We are in an unarmed struggle. Those conspiring against Tehreek-e-Labaik will not succeed.”

Party leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi on Sunday condemned the attack on Iqbal, and said Labaik was in an “unarmed struggle to bring the Prophet’s religion to the throne”.

Police said a bullet hit Iqbal in the right arm and entered his groin. They named the suspected shooter as Abid Hussain, 21, but have not officially reported any motive.

“Religious radicalism is in his background,” minister of state Chaudhry said, adding that others had been arrested and police were investigating groups that may have influenced the attack.

“Such people, on an ideological level, are prepared by others … radicalism is not an individual issue, it is a social problem,” he said.

Labaik was born out of a protest movement supporting Mumtaz Qadri, a bodyguard of the governor of Punjab who gunned down his boss in 2011 over his call to relax Pakistan’s draconian blasphemy laws. The movement’s protests shut down the country’s capital for three weeks last year over a change to an electoral law which it said amounted to blasphemy.

The assassination attempt on Iqbal has stoked fears of a repeat of the pre-election violence by Islamists that blighted the last two polls, including in 2007 when former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was killed on the campaign trail.

ISLAMABAD Sept 20 (TNS):  The suspended former principal information officer (PIO) Rao Tehsin Ali, a Grad-21 officer,  is writing a book these days to reveal the names of persons involved in the Dawn Leaks, the sources told.

The sources further added that the publicity rights of the book have been given to an American publishing company and an agreement to this effect has already been signed.

The PIO heads the press information department, which is the principal department of the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage.

  Blaming the problem on an honest and hard-working bureaucrat and making him a scapegoat is what most of the analysts call the arrogant culture of the corrupt elements in power corridors including a willingness to sack people when things go wrong victimized Rao Tehsin Ali.

They should have shouldered all the blame for the Dawn Leaks as they did play a part in selecting the target.

The government officers are generally put on leave who are found compromising national security and are placed on “administrative leave. They sit home and do nothing while they continue to collect their paychecks. That’s some “punishment” to some favorite ones but in case of Rao it was not done. We have so much unemployment in this country yet try firing a government official for anything short of a wrongdoing amounts to a crime.

Earlier an adviser was fired and ordered ‘action’ against a senior bureaucrat after controversial news story leak.

Adviser Tariq Fatemi also fell prey to this conspiracy.

  Pakistan’s military rejected Prime Minister Office’s decision to fire a top foreign policy adviser over his alleged connections to an article published last year that suggested there was a rift between civilian and military leaders on how to tackle militancy.

Rao challenged his suspension and orders of disciplinary proceedings against him in the Islamabad High Court.

In his petition Ali said he has been wrongly blamed for the Dawn Leaks saga. I was dismissed from my post and asked to report to the Establishment Division, the petition stated.

Action was taken against me without showing me the inquiry report of the commission. It’s my right to acquire the commission’s report, pleaded Ali.

The ministries of interior and information, along with the prime minister’s principal secretary were made respondents in the petition. He pleaded the court to order the relevant authorities to be provided the report.

The Dawn Leaks inquiry commission recommendations said Ali “would be proceeded against under the Efficiency & Discipline Rules 1973 on the charges based on the report findings”.

Prime Minister Office on April 29 approved the recommendations of the committee, which ordered proceedings against Ali and withdrew the portfolio of foreign affairs adviser from prime minister’s special assistant Tariq Fatemi.

“The Prime Minister Offfice, having considered the findings of the Committee as to its terms of reference, is pleased to approve its recommendations in para 18 of the report,” read an order released by the PM Office.

Ali told that he was awaiting the inquiry commission report and that his lawyer has asked for the classified copy of the report. “How could the commission recommend action against me without identifying those responsible for Dawn Leaks,” he asked.

The order released by the PM Office also said that the role of the editor of Dawn Newspaper, Zaffar Abbas, and reporter Cyril Almeida, will be referred to the All Pakistan Newspaper Association (APNS) for necessary disciplinary action to be taken against them.

It added that the APNS will be asked to develop a code of conduct for the media, “especially when dealing with issues relating to security of Pakistan and to ensure that stories on issues of national importance and security are published by abiding to basic journalistic and editorial norms”.

Later, the Establishment Division issued a notification, making Ali an officer on special duty and asking him to report to the division immediately.

The story in the Dawn newspaper stirred a major controversy last year, resulting in Almeida coming under fire from the military and government and being temporarily placed on the Exit Control List. The inquiry committee which investigated the matter comprised one member each from the Inter Services Intelligence, Military Intelligence and Intelligence Bureau, Establishment Secretary Tahir Shahbaz, Punjab Ombudsman Najam Saeed, and an FIA director.

The committee was headed by Justice (retd) Amir Raza Khan.

Later, the Pakistan Army’s top commanders expressed serious concern over the “feeding of a false and fabricated story of an important security meeting”, terming it a breach of national security.

The government called it a ‘fabricated’ story and termed the “purported deliberations” during the security meeting as speculative, misleading, factually incorrect, and an “amalgamation of fiction and fabrication”.

Following a preliminary investigation, the government relieved Senator Pervaiz Rasheed of his responsibilities as federal minister pending a high-level inquiry.

ओहदों और धमकियों से नहीं, सिर्फ अल्लाह से डरें मुसलमान: आबिद बदायूं लोकसभा क्षेत्र में पूर्व दर्जा राज्यमंत्री आबिद रजा तेजी से फैल रहे हैं, वे जहाँ भी जाते हैं, वहां हुजूम उमड़ आता है। नौजवानों में बेहद लोकप्रिय आबिद रजा की एक झलक पाने को बूढ़े और महिलायें भी घंटों बैठ कर इंतजार करते देखे जा सकते हैं, वे जिस गाँव में पहुंचते हैं, वहां की सड़कें जाम हो जाती हैं और छतें महिलाओं से भर जाती हैं. जिससे आबिद रजा भी बेहद उत्साहित नजर आ रहे हैं। आबिद रजा का काफिला बिल्सी विधान सभा क्षेत्र के गाँव लहरा, असोली, मुड़सान, नैथुआ, छगनपुर और मिर्जापुर सहित तमाम गांवों में पहुंचा, जहाँ उनका भव्य स्वागत किया गया, इस दौरान उन्होंने जनसभाओं को भी संबोधित किया। आबिद रजा ने कहा देश में 2019 का लोकसभा चुनाव नजदीक है। सेकुलर ताकतों को मिलकर सांप्रदायिक ताकतों का सफाया करना है। देश में सेकुलर ताकतें मजबूत हुई हैं, इसलिए 2019 में भाजपा का सफाया तय है। राजस्थान, मध्य प्रदेश, छत्तीसगढ़ में सेकुलर ताकतों ने मिलकर भाजपा को हराया है। किसान, नौजवान, गरीब, मजदूरों से नरेंद्र मोदी ने 2014 में जो वादे किये थे, वह पूरे नहीं किए, इसलिए 2019 में गरीब ,किसान, नौजवान, मजदूर सब मिलकर 2019 में देश में सेकुलर सरकार बनाना चाहते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि बदायूं में चुनाव करीब देखकर नेताओं के समर्थक क्षेत्र में घूम रहे हैं और कुछ लोग मौजूदा सरकार का खौफ दिखा रहे हैं। कुछ नेताओं के समर्थक अपने नेताओं के ओहदे व आने वाली सरकार से जनता में खौफ पैदा कर के वोट मांग रहे हैं। अपने नेताओं की उपलब्धियां कम गिना रहे हैं, जनता में अपने नेता के ओहदे का डर दिखा रहे हैं, ऐसे नेताओं से कहना चाहता हूँ, इस देश में प्रधानमंत्री व मुख्यमंत्री भी लोकसभा व विधानसभा का चुनाव हार चुके हैं, उनके समर्थकों ने भी जनता को डरा कर वोट मांगा था, जनता को किसी से डरने की जरूरत नहीं है। खासतौर से मुसलमानों से कहा कि देश में इस वक्त से ज्यादा बुरा राजनैतिक समय कोई नहीं हो सकता। प्रदेश व देश के में मुसलमानों की खुली मुखालफत करने वाली सरकारें हैं, इसलिए मुसलमानों को अल्लाह के अलावा किसी से नहीं डरना चाहिए। आबिद रजा ने "मुस्लिम राजनैतिक जागरूकता अभियान" के लिए कहा बहुत तेजी से मुसलमान मिशन से जूझ रहे हैं। लगभग 9700 मुसलमान मिशन के सदस्य बन चुके हैं। यह मिशन पूरे प्रदेश में चलाया जा रहा है, बनारस, अयोध्या, मेरठ व बदायूं में मिशन की मीटिंग हो चुकी हैं। मीटिंग में मुसलमानों के हक के लिए व मुसलमानों के वोट की कैसे अहमियत बढ़े, इस पर जोर दिया जा रहा है। इस वक्त जो प्रदेश में सियासी हालात हैं, उसमें मुसलमानों के लिए कहा जा रहा है कि अब मु��लमान वोट जाएगा कहां, इस लफ्ज से मुसलमानों का सियासी मुस्तकबिल खतरे में पड़ गया है। मुसलमान प्रदेश में 22% हैं, तुम्हें अपनी ताकत समझनी होगी, तुम्हें अपने दिए वोट का हिसाब मांगना होगा। तुम्हें अपना वोट देते वक्त अपनी कौम का मजबूत वकील बनाना होगा, जो मजबूती से तुम्हारे हक के लिए अपनी पार्टी फोरम पर आवाज उठा सके, तुम्हें वोट देते वक्त यह देखना होगा, तुम्हारे वोट से जीतने वालों ने तुम्हारे गांव में कितनी सड़कें बनवाईं, तुम्हारे कौम के कितने नौजवानों की नौकरी लगवाईं, तुम्हारी शादी, तुम्हारे गम में जीतने वाले नेता शरीक हुए या, नहीं। जब तक तुम अपने वोट से जीतने वालों से यह पूछना शुरू नहीं करोगे, तुम्हारी कौम की तरक्की नहीं हो सकती। उन्होंने कहा कि हमें तब बहुत अफसोस होता है जब, हमारी कौम का नौजवान हमें ठेला लगाते, डेंटर, पेंटर, मोटर साईकिल और कार मैकेनिक का काम करते हुए दिखता है, जिस कौम ने इस देश पर 900 साल हुकूमत की हो, तुम इस देश के 900 साल बादशाह रहे हो, आज उसी कौम के नौजवान मजदूरी करते हैं, इसलिए हम इस मिशन के जरिए मुसलमानों को सियासी शऊर सिखाने पूरे उत्तर प्रदेश में निकले हैं। मिशन के तहत यह भी कहा तुम सेकुलर हिंदू से दोस्ती करो, उनके खुशी, गम में शरीक होकर सेकुलर हिंदू के दिल में अपनी जगह बनाओ तब ही, तुम्हारी सियासी तरक्की होगी। जनसभाओं में रिजवान, मुक्तादिर, इश्तियाक खान, अब्दुल सलाम खान, रफ्फन खान, नाजिम अली, इशरत खान, लियाकत सैफी, खलील, वसीम, बबलू चौधरी, निसार, हाजी छमक, निराले, खालिद, अमजद, सालिम, अनीस अहमद, इस्लाम, शाकिर, नफसर, गुलजार, इलियास, तसब्बर, रमजानी, आरिश, साजिद खान, परवेज, राशिद, सददाम जुवेरी, मोहम्मद अफजल, सतीश शाक्य, मोहम्मद यासीन, अब्दुल गनी, हाजी आरिफ, शेखुल भाई, असलम, फारुख अहमद, भूरे, नईम, फुरकान अली, राघिव अली, सैय्यद अशफाक, सत्तार खान, खलील खान, मुबीन, नसीम अख्तर, जुल्फिकार, नुसरत, नन्हें, गुड्डू, नदीम, बाबू अली, छम्मन खान, अवधेश और सुभाष सहित बड़ी संख्या में लोग मौजूद रहे। (गौतम संदेश की खबरों से अपडेट रहने के लिए एंड्राइड एप अपने मोबाईल में इन्स्टॉल कर सकते हैं एवं गौतम संदेश को फेसबुक और ट्वीटर पर भी फ़ॉलो कर सकते हैं, साथ ही वीडियो देखने के लिए गौतम संदेश चैनल को सबस्क्राइब कर सकते हैं)

लॉक डाउन के भंवर में फंसे आजम खान को पैरोल पर जेल से छोड़ने का आग्रह बदायूं जिले के कद्दावर नेता एवं पूर्व दर्जा राज्यमंत्री आबिद रजा ने रमजान के माह में वरिष्ठ नेता व सांसद आजम खां और उनकी पत्नी-बेटे को पैरोल पर छोड़ने की अपील की है। ऑन लाइन प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस करके आबिद रजा ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के नाम पत्र भेजने की जानकारी दी।

राहत कोष की स्थापना की जाये एवं भोजन के पैकेट बंटवाये जायें: आबिद बदायूं जिले में लॉक डाउन के चलते गरीब तबके का चूल्हा बुझ सकता है, इसकी चिंता पूर्व दर्जा राज्यमंत्री आबिद रजा को सताने लगी है।  तमाम लोग मदद करना चाहते हैं लेकिन, लॉक डाउन के चलते संभव नहीं है, इसलिए आबिद रजा ने जिला मजिस्ट्रेट को पत्र लिख कर स्थानीय स्तर पर राहत कोष स्थापित करने का आग्रह किया है।
