EVANESCENCE Announces Deluxe Reissue Of 'Fallen' For 20th Anniversary
In 2003, when the rock charts were dominated by predominantly male nü-metal and post-grunge acts, a young female-fronted band from Arkansas stood out from the crowd, offering something entirely new. They were EVANESCENCE — and with their debut album, "Fallen", they transformed the rock landscape. Led by frontwoman Amy Lee, EVANESCENCE's cinematic blend of metal and symphonic, piano-driven melodies captured a generation, while "Fallen" set the band on a path to global superstardom, earning them multiple Grammy Awards, and becoming one of the highest-selling albums of all time.
Now, two decades later, Craft Recordings celebrates EVANESCENCE's enduring debut with a series of collectible reissues. Available on 2-LP, 2-CD, and digital formats — as well as a Super Deluxe Edition collector's box set — "Fallen (20th Anniversary Edition)" will offer newly remastered audio, including the album's global chart-topping singles "My Immortal", "Going Under", "Everybody's Fool" and the Grammy-winning smash hit "Bring Me To Life". The expanded set also includes a trove of bonus material — ten tracks in all — comprising previously unreleased demos and live recordings plus a selection of rare B-sides. Alongside reimagined artwork, all physical formats will include previously unseen photos from the era, plus a handwritten foreword by Lee, who oversaw all aspects of the reissue.
"Fallen (20th Anniversary Edition)" is available for pre-order today, while fans can stream a previously-unreleased 2002 demo of "Bring Me To Life" or watch the lyric video in addition to the remastered album version of the hit song. 2-LP, 2-CD, and digital formats will be released on November 17. The classic black 2-LP set is available wide, with limited color pressings also available from select retailers including Blue Smoke (via Target),White and Purple Marble (via Barnes & Noble),Pink and Black Marble (via Indie Retail),and a unique Black & Silver blend (via Evanescence.com).
Also available exclusively via Evanescence.com is the Super Deluxe Box Set, arriving in February 2024. Housed in a collectible shadow box-style package (inspired by Lee's songwriting journal cover art),this very limited edition includes all of the above-mentioned music as part of a 2-LP set (featuring the Black & Silver blend vinyl) plus a bonus cassette of previously unreleased demos and voice notes (see track listing below) which is exclusive to this box set. Adding additional insight into the album is an expansive book that features new track-by-track notes from Lee, while a zoetropic turntable slipmat, featuring EVANESCENCE's classic "e" logo, plus a set of rare photo prints and enamel pin set round out the collection.

Friday, 14 July 2023:
Field Day (40th Anniversary Edition) Marshall Crenshaw (Yep Roc) (original released June 1983, this reissue released 14 July, 2023)
In August of last year I began listening to Marshall Crenshaw's catalog at the rate of an album per month. This month I'm playing I've Suffered For My Art, Now It's Your Turn, a live acoustic album that features many of the songs from last month's #447. I'm discovering just how talented Crenshaw is (a master guitarist, not to mention songwriter) and what a fool I was for ending buying his latest release when he left Warner Brothers for Razor & Tie. This album I'm showcasing was his second album for Warner Bros and I remember thinking it was substantially less than his debut. I remember a friend and I falling prey to the suggestion it was 'overproduced,' and disliking it flat out. Such silly boys when we were younger. In time, I certainly played the daylights out of because cut to September 2022, and I knew these songs backwards and forwards like most of the best albums in my collection from back in the day. I'm playing it again now (on my second spin) and this remains one of Crenshaw's best albums. (Those first three albums in his catalog are all brilliant in my ears.)
Making it even better is the new cover art. I've never like the original artwork (even all these years later) and I think the new artwork is far cooler and more in step with the era. Naturally I've always been a big fan of the suitcoat/ tie look, even if today it paints me a bit of a square. I'll show you the original artwork later. Above is that new cover followed by the gatefold and then the back of the album cover. What most surprises me about this is the absolute dearth of the label name. No mention anywhere (save for the spine) of Yep Roc.
This is a double album now so I'll follow my usual format of showing you the front and back of the inner sleeve for Album 1 followed by the labels for both sides of the first album.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second album contains six bonus tracks and fortunately it includes the B-Side of Jungle Rock. Below are both sides of the second album's inner sleeve followed by both labels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was scouting around on eBay for those five EPs of Crenshaw's that I lack (I own one of the six he released) and algorithms being what they are showed me some Crenshaw albums I might be interested in. One of them was this album on colored vinyl. The dealer was asking $70, an outrageous price so I immediately went over to bandcamp to see what the deal was. Nothing. I went to Yep Roc and they don't even have a category for Crenshaw for crying out loud. I finally just googled Field Day-Crenshaw- color vinyl and lo and behold! Up comes a preorder from Barnes & Noble! The bookseller has realized the market for different pressings and color vinyl seems a major attraction to buyers. Notice that as soon as I discovered this, Wednesday, I preordered it. How on earth they got it to me in two days time mystifies me because Barnes & Noble can be notoriously slow. Regardless, here it is. Check out the photos of this "limited edition Silver with Blue Swirl" vinyl below!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
below you will find close-ups of both hype stickers that adorn this album cover in my first shot up at the top.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Below you will see the original cover of Field Day when it came out in 1983. I didn't realize that the suitcoat, shirt and tie are the same on both covers. I still think the new cover is far better!
Tumblr media
And lastly, not many people are aware of this, I certainly wasn't. But this album was reissued in 2018 by Intervention Records as a two LP set. Below you can see the new artwork for this version followed by the back of the album cover which lists the bonus tracks at the bottom of it. (Both photos taken from discogs.)

Elton John Honky Château 50th Anniversary Reissue, Release March 24th on UME
Tumblr media
Available on        2CD, 2LP,        and Limited-Edition Gold Vinyl LP
Rocket Man (Live        at The Royal Festival Hall, London 1972) & Mellow (Session Demo)        Unveiled
Tumblr media
During the 1970’s there was no bigger musical artist    than Elton John.  His stream of Top    10 hits seemed never-ending, catapulting him in his 20’s into legendary    status. Every album was better than the one before as he and songwriting    partner, lyricist Bernie Taupin, honed their craft, creating musical    masterpieces to last a lifetime. 50+on their partnership is stronger than    ever. His ‘five years of fun,’ as he once called it, contained his best and    most prolific work.  He grew as a    musician and live performer, selling out shows around the globe. For his 5th    studio album change was on  the    horizon. Formally a three-piece ensemble, Nigel Olsson on drums, Dee Murray    on bass, Elton on piano, a guitar virtuoso was added to the mix, Davey    Johnstone. Elton’s sound would never be the same again and would solidify    the Elton John Band as a true rocking force in the music industry.
Tumblr media
This year, thanks to UME, a celebratory Honky Château 50th Anniversary Edition    is being released on March 25th (Elton’s 76th    birthday). Originally released in May 1972, the album included such    classics as “Rocket Man,” “Honky Cat,” and the fan favorite “Mona Lisas And    Mad Hatters.” They have become as timeless as the man himself. The real    gems found are the exclusive demo tracks and live performances never before    released. “Rocket Man (Live at The Festival Hall, London    1972)”  “Salvation,” (Session Demo) and    “Mellow” (Session Demo) are among those special moments.
Recorded at the now legendary Château d’Hérouville,    a residential recording studio situated 25 miles northwest of Paris. It was    here where he and Bernie Taupin were to write – and the band subsequently    record. Elton, Bernie, and the band - performing together on record for the    first time - decamped to the Château for a week’s pre-production on Honky    Château in January 1972. Bernie brought his typewriter; the    band set up in the dining room. Bernie would write lyrics at night and    leave them on Elton’s piano for him to work on in the morning.
As Elton recalls of their notoriously prolific    output at the time, “The first morning we were there, I had three    (songs) done by the time the band drifted downstairs looking for something    to eat: ‘Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters,’ ‘Amy’ and ‘Rocket Man.’” The    remainder of the album would follow suit; ‘Susie (Dramas),’ ‘Hercules,’    ‘Salvation,’ ‘Honky Cat,’ ‘Slave,’ ‘I Think I’m Going To Kill Myself’ and    ‘Mellow.’”
Honky Château is available in the following        formats:
 2CD
Contains the original album and a newly created        selection of outtakes from the original session tapes. This 2CD format        additionally contains eight live recordings from the Royal Festival        Hall show in 1972, where the tracks received their live debut just a        few days after being recorded at the Château. Includes a 40-page        booklet containing rare photos, memorabilia, and an essay featuring        interviews from those who were there at the time.
 2LP
Contains the original album and a newly created        selection of outtakes from the original session tapes. Includes an        eight-page booklet containing rare photos, memorabilia, and an essay        featuring interviews from those who were there at the time
 Limited Edition        Gold Vinyl LP
Contains the original album pressed for the        first time on limited edition gold vinyl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In June 1972, “Rocket Man” was in the UK pop charts at No 2. In the US,        the single reached No 6. Honky Château became        the first of six consecutive Billboard Hot 100 No 1        albums. It remains a firm fixture in the setlist of this        record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour and is a highlight        among his two-hour set. “Honky Cat”, his first up-tempo number to make        the US Top 10, the track helped cement Elton’s reputation in America.
Still a shining jewel in Elton’s back        catalog, Honky Château was the album that        announced his arrival on the world stage. Its impact and legacy endure        to this day, and it will forever be remembered as the album where the        Rocket Man truly took flight.

Rare Paging Mr. Proust outtakes & demos now available digitally
Tumblr media
When The Jayhawks released Paging Mr Proust in 2016 there was a special deluxe 2CD / 2 LP edition that was made available exclusively to PledgeMusic supporters who preordered the album. These deluxe editions included a bonus disc with 5 outtakes + 4 demos. All of the outtakes were recorded during the album sessions in Portland, Oregon in 2015. 4 of the outtakes are songs that didn't make the final cut for the album. The other outtake is a 10 minute extended version of the song "Ace" that was edited for the regular release. The 4 demos were recorded solo by Gary Louris at his home studio in Minneapolis; some of them feature different lyrics than the final versions.
None of these tracks were ever released subsequently and the original 2CD and 2LP (on white vinyl) releases currently command high prices in the collector’s market. The Jayhawks are very happy to finally see these 9 tracks made available again, albeit in the digital realm. The outtakes are anything but throwaways and serve as a useful complement to the original album. The sophisticated home demos offer a fascinating insight as to how songs can evolve on their journey to the final product.
PURCHASE EXCLUSIVELY AT THE JAYHAWKS BANDCAMP STORE HERE
Several download formats are available, including MP3, FLAC, WAV & more. Digital credit sheet and cover art included with the download.
Paging Mr. Proust Studio Outtakes

Prince
Chaos and Disorder
Number of LPs: 1
Label: NPG Records
Release Year on Jacket: 1996 (this reissue 2019)
Songs I Liked:
All of it!!!!
Songs I Didn’t Like:
Overall Rating: A+
Would You Recommend:
Welcome to the church of unpopular opinions (brace yourself) this is my favorite Prince era. I love the angry, bitter Prince that was lashing out at oppressive forces that were trying to control his music. This album has most of the elements that Prince is known for, but it is definitely more raw and rocking than most of his albums. His guitar skills rip through almost every song. His anger is better on Rainbow Children (which I am eagerly awaiting for because it is hands down my favorite album of his) but he is getting his disdain across on this album. I highly recommend giving this a try, because this is an excellent listen.
Another unpopular opinion is that I am extremely excited that his catalog is being reissued. I see too many people complain about his estate “cashing in" but his legacy was his music. I own everything on CD or Cassette but some of the editions have either never been released on vinyl (this being one) before now, or are so expensive because the O.G. run was super limited (Rainbow Children Was selling for almost $1,000 at one time). This allows me to still enjoy his music on a format I love while still having rent money so I have a place to enjoy them.
Don't take my word for it listen for yourself and tell me what you think.

The Apostles - Black Is Beautiful - Tidal Waves Music reissue of 1977 Afrobeat album from Nigeria
The Apostles were a renowned Nigerian funk/soul group from the city of Aba (an epicenter for music during the 70s & 80s) and disciples of the heavy psychedelic soul/rock fusion style…for over forty years, they have stood as the jewel in the crown of the Afrobeat genre in Eastern Nigeria and champions of its flourishing post-war music scene.
Since their formation in 1973, the band has turned out memorable performances in a variety of styles including rock, soul, funk, pop and reggae. The Apostles amassed a large following, enjoyed an immense success throughout Nigeria and went on to release multiple albums. Although most of their songs are sung in English, a few of their songs are also sung in Igbo. The Apostles became superstars on the strength of several hit singles and have been preaching a particular blend of funky psychedelic soul/rock fusion for over 40 years.
The LP we are presenting you here Black Is Beautiful (1977) is one of the most enjoyable albums of the Afrobeat era: proud, assured, relaxed and extremely powerful. Black Is Beautiful contains a heavy mix of wailing guitars, swirling funky organ sounds and James Brown-style vocals. It is one of their best albums (also one that became a fixture in many East Nigerian homes) and an essential Afro-Funk record to add to your collection.
Today we are proud to present to you the first ever vinyl reissue of this rare Nigerian album originally released on EMI Nigeria in 1977. This reissue is now available as a deluxe 180g vinyl edition (limited to 500 copies) featuring the original artwork.
