“Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.” ― Octavia E. Butler

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? (HOW TO LIVE RESPONSIBLY.) When you say something to someone, what happens next? - How are they likely to react?
When you do something to/for someone, what happens next? - How are they likely to react?
When you order something online, what happens next? - What kind of business are you buying from? - Are the employees treated fairly? - Are the products made ethically? - Are the products shipped in an environmentally responsible manner?
When you buy clothes, what happens next? - How often will you wear the item? - How will it be disposed of?
When you buy food, what happens next? - Have you bought too much? - How will the excess be disposed of?
Be mindful, be kind!

Accompany
I’m not alone and must proceed – connecting Side by side… forever changed – commensing. Without demands, go the way of joyous expecting. Fully engaged, a time for generous promising. Without forethought, being pleasantly respecting. The way opens, heartfelt in love rising Bonded through service, woke, and attentive… affecting. Talk the talk, walk the walk… embracing.

House Fires by Connor Franta: Forethought
I am finally going to read Connor Franta's House Fires after purchasing it three years ago. His last two books were stunning to read both in their literature and photography. I was in a big Youtuber phase in high school, so books published by my favourite content creators were a big hit to me.
After some years of struggling to read books, I have become a member on the website Goodreads as a way to motivate me to be actively involved with the books I want to pursue. Of course, on Goodreads, a person can write and read reviews on the books they want to, or have read. Because of this, I am a bit timid about reading House Fires after skimming through the comments left by other readers. There is a common disappointment that the writing is, for lack of better words, peepeepoopoo, while the photography is stunning (as per expected from Connor). Many readers comment about how the book is written like that of an angsty teenager's diary which makes me reflect on where I was in life when I read his last two books. It's like re-watching a show you used to love and then realizing that it actually sucks since you've grown up.
After just completing The Critique Handbook: A Sourcebook and Survival Guide by Kendall Buster and Paula Crawford, I want to go into this book thinking of a visual artist's approach to writing, especially Freewriting. Like the reviews on Goodreads explain, Connor's visuals are amazing while the writing disappoints them, but are they only looking from a writers perspective while Connor looks from an artist's point of view? Should we limit his book to just one of those perspectives? Can we see that he is consciously making this decision for a written work? Is it wrong? Will it work? Does it really matter? Now of course this is just a forethought, so I cannot expect the worst heading into the book, but maybe my brain-ears will be better perked while reading through it.

The Serene Smile
'The serene smile'
Where it goes
Must be a brainless question
Or put together
With all manipulation
It's a long mile
In the middle of empty road
All the movements
Still blur;
Forethought
Or an impulse
Feels like I'm stuck
Increased pulse
Now that you're around;
It's all still
Still like the air
in summer,
Still like the tree
Air free,
Still like the bridge
'till tremor,
Still like the weather
Before storm;
Absurd we miss the season
Everytime it passed
Loving present seems easy
But hard
Like those season
You're as you are
May be you'll find a reason
Or not
But in coming times
I know
I'll be longing for old days
In similar ways
You're, My dear
Like the cool wind
Shook all the branches
Let the old leaves fall
Wipe the floor
And put together
Lit the match to it
Let it burn
Soon it's ash
Gray and few
Let the wind blew
And bring new
Some true
'cause
My serenity comes with you
