It's always so weird to come down from the biology heavens to see what the average person believes about animals, plants, ecosystems, just the world around them. I don't even mean things that one simply doesn't know because they've never been told or things that are confusing, I'm talking about people who genuinely do not see insects as animals. What are you saying. Every time I see a crawling or fluttering little guy I know that little guy has motivations and drive to fulfill those motivations. There are gears turning in their head! They are perceiving this world and they are drawing conclusions, they are conscious. And yet it's still a whole thing if various bugs of the world feel pain or if they are simply Instinct Machines that are Not Truly Aware of Anything At All????? Help!!!!!! How can you look at a little guy and think he is just the macroscopic animal version of a virus

hello! i'm an amateur/aspiring artist who enjoys your work a lot :D i was wondering where you get references for fashion in your medieval/arthuriana pieces?

museums! a lot have online collections to look at: the met is my go to a lot of the time, and the worcester art museum has the higgins armory collection currently. movies, shows, comics, if they have a costume aesthetic I really enjoy. dover publication has a couple of books collecting medieval fashion over the centuries I like to flip through.

nc wyeth's medieval illustrations, arthur rackham, and john william waterhouse too. medieval tapestries and manuscripts. 13th-16th italian fashion & art. lately I've been playing more with 4th-~11th century roman/byzantine influences! renfaire/medieval reeactment photos are a great visual resource too.

claire hummel's historical fashion resource doc is an excellent starting point and resource, additionally this collection of illustrators.

Helios is the somewhat prickly Chief of the Bureau of the Traveler, an office burdened with the duty of overseeing the assortment of requests, messages, and complaints concerning the Traveler and their duties.

He was an exemplary student of the Words of Lahabrea who came to believe working closely with the Traveler would be one of the best ways of elevating the design and viability of his concepts. Not keen on traveling himself, he chose a desk job.

(He also refined the Proto-Carbuncle concept into something closer to what we know and love today. :'D)

An intellectual mind with a fairly important position, he will nonetheless... kind of cut corners wherever he can, insofar as he doesn't like working overtime - he'd prefer to get back to his own research. His work does fuel his research; discoveries and reports from Azem help inform his concepts, but Azem is also a walking headache and creates just as many problems as she solves (at least in the form of paperwork).

(This is a very loose and specific example and I haven't played in ages but in the slightest sense, if you know Genshin, his vibe is Kind Of Alhaitham and Azem is basically his Kaveh if Kaveh was also Alhaitham's boss 😂)

You know, actually try and find information about the person you're talking to thats deeper than just, for example, finding out the name of their favourite movie. Ask them why its their favourite, would they recommend it, how does watching it make them feel, there's so many details to get!

Its not that hard to show a little interested because otherwise you just look like you don't actually like the person you're talking to 🥴

Wow, that's a whole other repost to the one I thought it was going to be, lol. It's been reposted to TikTok once before, and I'm also not surprised this person got it from Reddit, where I doubt I was credited either.

At the end of the day I appreciate the heads up but there's nothing I can really do about it. The most helpful thing anyone can do is to leave comments on the reposts to provide credit,* because if artists ever try and comment then we pretty invariably get attacked. Don't be mean or aggressive, that just builds their animosity towards the artists, but I do think people respond positively to outside pressure to do the right thing 🤷

*Remember to make sure there's enough context - eg. something like "art by @ landegart on Twitter" is more searchable/useful than "artist is Landeg" to someone on TikTok who has no idea who I am haha

Something I'm gonna miss from my bowling class specifically. We had one practice day where we were working on spares targeting, aka we were trying to get better at hitting the corner pins and Just the corner pins. So it was a game where we were trying to get the least pins as we could while still hitting Something. So if we could get a corner pin, Just One, that was the best result possible from a shot.

And to extra incentivize this, the instructor had it so that if we got just One corner pin in a throw, we'd get a piece of candy. And if we got the Other corner pin in the 2nd throw, we'd get Three pieces of candy. So if someone hit Just the corner pin, it'd be Candy!!!

And this kept up even after this game. Back in normal rules. Anytime someone hit just the corner pin (usually not on purpose, since u don't actually want that for a real game 😂), it was a joke to be like "Oh, but candy!"

And by the end of the semester, it just kinda turned into a Thing. Someone hits just one corner pin, we respond by calling, "Candy!" Kinda a making light of it thing, an "it's okay, that would've been good in that game!" Kind of thing.

& I think the impulse will still remain. Someone hits a corner pin shot, and I get the impulse to respond, "Candy!" But that's Not A Thing in general bowling, so people would just be like "what the fuck are you talking about"
