Thinking about what it would be like if Voyager had an episode like Leverage's "The Long Goodbye Job".

Something where it looks like Janeway's plans and choices got her entire crew killed. She's been captured (by the Borg Queen? Some other threat?) and has to go through some kind of interrogation to explain how her gamble, her choice of risks, failed them all - that she not only didn't get them home but got them all killed. Her best friend Tuvok, the young officers like Harry that she'd tried to guide and nurture, even Chakotay...

Only of course in the end it's a lie, a ruse to distract and stall for time, in order to stop whatever threat brought her to this point in the first place.

I would love something like this....

Tom tries out Voyager's new diagnostic device (which allows doctors to experience patients' sensory input) with B'Elanna. Everything seems normal until Tom sees a new color visible only to Klingons. Soon, the whole crew is begging B’Elanna to let them see the "Klingon Color."

Torres resists on the grounds that she's "just not comfortable letting everyone on the ship feel her senses" but eventually relents and lets Harry try it.

The color was green. Tom is colorblind.

The worst trope in the universe is when someone accuses character A, who is part of a real or fantasy or coded minority, of doing something bad and everyone's like "That's just your prejudice against [real or fantasy minority]!" and it turns out character A actually did do that bad thing and everyone else was stupid for not believing they did that bad thing.

Star Trek Voyager, 3x26 - Basics, part 1

Captain Kathryn Janeway as a Brilliant Tactician, part 1, 2, 3 (version 1) (version 2)

This battle is often overlooked but I think this is also an amazing showcase for Janeway and the Voyager crew.

Voyager was up against 4 large Kazon (formerly Trabé ships). Significantly larger than Voyager many times over. Janeway's other talent is bringing together all the suggestions her crew threw together and executing it.

In this instance, using deflector and holo-technology to create ships to draw fire from Voyager.

Plus Janeway's job is to time their attacks precisely. One of the first example of Janeway having nerves of steel. She had to be patient and not let the distance or number of her enemies spooke her.

Voyager was winning the battle against the big Kazon-Nistrim ships-- until the moment their Kazon prisoner blew himself up, sabotaging Voyager.

(Honestly, I wish they repeated this tactic in other battles because it worked really well).

This is just a taste of the war leader Janeway becomes.

That's five series cast pieces down! Some of the more challenging characters to capture were in this one. B'Elanna and, believe it or not, Seven Of Nine were the most difficult.
