20 questions for fic writers
thanks for the tag @becomethesun <3<3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
11!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
allegedly 46,015, but 5,569 of those words were technically written by @freetobeyouandmichi-me in our shared au! (love ya)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
the last of us
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
1. cold is the water
2. buckets of rain / shelter from the storm
3. you love me so hard and i still can't sleep
4. matchbox
5. patron saints
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
YES when @toointojoelmiller said ao3 comments were better than drugs she was RIGHT! but fr they make me giddy every time, even if it's just a singular emoji or a bunch of exclamation points
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
maybe creature fear? just because it's so early days joel and ellie, so there's no warm and fuzzies to be had anywhere. wouldn't say it's angsty though
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
i'm kind of incapable of writing a sad ending, so it's a three way tie between my fluffiest children (1) buckets of rain / shelter from the storm, (2) mountain high, valley low, river wide, and (3) fisherman hats and carpet stains
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not YET thank GOD
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
i do not
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
i haven't but i have a prospect x tlou crossover in the earliest of early stages
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
i don't think so?
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
kinda yes! michi wrote Roll for Halloween Hijacks for our modern au and was kind enough to name me as co-author
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
i'm lame and most of my ships are just the ones that are already canon :/ but if i had to pick a wild card, i was oddly obsessed with peter parker/harley keener back in the marvel heyday
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i really don't want to speak this into existence, but literally any of my ideas for longfics
16. What are your writing strengths?
fluff, dialogue, authentic characters
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
underwriting, writing consistently, whump/angst
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
i do not think i would be any good at this
19. First fandom you wrote for?
should i lay bare all the skeletons in my closet rn? on a tumblr that i deleted over a decade ago, i wrote a few random one-shots of fred weasley/reader, george weasley/reader, remus lupin/reader, sirius black/reader, (brace yourselves) dan howell/reader, and phil lester/reader ... what the fuck i even shipped phan so idk why i did this
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
this is a hard question but i think my home (far away). it challenged me and took me out of my comfort zone but at the same time it was some of the most fun i've ever had writing
no pressure tags! @lkay-09 @two-birds-alone-together @boopernatural (also sorry, you were probably already tagged bc of our braincell hivemind lol)

is it the bridge between worlds that makes you feel alone? — no face, haley henderix
Tumblr media
You collapsed on your stomach with a huff, your breath labored, your hair sticking every which way from your lover's treatment. You were exhausted, floating away in that all-too-familiar headspace Eddie seemed to like so much.
Sounding out a whine as you felt his hand where he had cum all over you, collecting some of the mess and placing it up to your lips, "Open" was all he said, and you complied.
You suckled his fingers, that salty after-taste seeping into your tongue as he chuckled at our hazed state. He had really done a number on you this time around, driving you practically to the point of insanity.
And he knew it was time to give back.
"Good girl," he praised, before disappearing once again out of your vision.
You laid there, your back to the ceiling as you took deep breaths, trying to level yourself out, but your mind was too fucked out to even comprehend anything around you other than him.
Suddenly, you felt his hand smoothing up your spine.
"Come on, get up, we have to get you cleaned so then you don't go to bed all sticky."
"Nooooo," you mumbled into the fabric of the pillowcase, "'m too tired."
He knew that at this point, you weren't getting up, not by yourself at least, and slipped his arms under you before flipping you over, and lifting you in his arms.
You were fussy at the prospect of being moved, burning your head in his chest as he carried you to the bathroom, setting you down on the closed toilet seat.
The absence of his warmth caused much protest with you, making you grab his hand as you tried to keep your balance on top of the worn-down appliance.
"I'm right here, baby, see? Turning on some hot water for you so we can get you all cleaned up. Then we can sleep, honey, promise."
His words consoled you for the time being, but you still felt your brain float around in that dumb little headspace and the comfort he desperately attempted to instill in you was short-lived.
Thankfully, the water was warm by then.
He gently slipped the two of you in the tub as it filled up, the warm water soothing your shaking muscles, Eddie holding you up against him as you slowly felt yourself come back.
"You with me, baby?" he asked, almost unsure, but his uncertainty melted away like candle wax when he heard you speak up, your words less slurred.
"Yeah. I'm here,"
He took that as a solid enough answer, taking some soap and lathering it in a loofah.
This is when you started laughing, full-chested guffaws that left Eddie speechless.
"What so funny?" he questioned, cocking his head like a confused puppy.
"You, Eddie Munson, own a loofah?" you giggled.
"Hey, this thing actually gets the job done. And, shut up, you're the one getting cleaned with it," he argued, coasting the bright orange loofah across the expanse of your thighs.
You let out a playful 'mhm' as he continued to clean you, allowing your head to fall back against his shoulder as you closed your eyes, letting your senses take over.
Sure, you were going to smell like Old Spice body wash in the morning, but at the cost of some of the most amazing sex you had ever had, you were willing to smell like Old Spice for the rest of your life.
After he had finished cleaning you up, he wrapped you up in one of the fluffiest towels he owned while he drained the tub. You waddled into Eddie's room, you rifled through some of the shirts in his drawer, and settled on an Iron Maiden shirt, a skeleton smiling grimly on the front of it.
By the time Eddie had made it back to the bedroom, you were clocked out, asleep on his mattress, small snores leaving you. His expression softened as he climbed into bed with you, covering you up with the duvet.
He held you close to him in a comforting, cozy embrace as he finally felt himself succumb to sleep.
The two of you drifted off, sated, and more importantly, in each other's arms.

Note
wow i did not expect the comfort to be this fluffy but i love it so much aaaaaaa
listen, while i enjoy writing angst as much as anyone else, i absolutely love characters getting to have a nice time too. this is why hurt/comfort is one of my favorite fic categories to both read and write, because you get both angst and fluff and it's the best
i honestly wish i had as many ideas for fluff as i do angst though, i don't get to write it nearly as much as i'd like. but i include it when i can and we needed a break after all the angst in Chapter 7, and the start of Chapter 8. so here we are, the fluffiest skeleton dragons yet ^^

Pairing- San x Named Reader
Includes- Fluffiest fluff, Way to much facts about dinosaurs- sorry, I'm a huge dino nerd 🤓
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
J POV
Checking the mirror one more time, I nervously make sure I don't look like a total nerd
I think my outfit is ok
Black pants, red shirt, black jacket.
What my friends call my Frankenstein shoes
I put my hair in half a braid and matched my eye makeup to my red shirt.
Tumblr media
I wonder if he'll like it
And on another note, I'm so fucking shocked that I'm trying to impress San
It's just, I had such a good time on our date
It really shocked me
I didn't even think of an amusement park as a date
I thought it'd be the regular dinner and movie date
But he pleasantly surprised me
The rides were amazing; I love how he loves rollercoasters like I do
I also enjoyed talking with him and finding out he can be nice
And complimentative
But really the best part of the date was holding his hand
That blew my mind
I just wanted to keep holding it loving the way his hand felt around mine
The way his arm felt around me
How close we were when we took the pictures in the Ferris wheel
I catch myself looking at those pictures all the time
How good we look together
And the kiss on the hand at the end?
I swooned so fucking hard, smiling like an idiot
What the fuck is happening to me?
I despised San, his personality and his life style
But now I find myself warming up to him
I still don't trust him yet and am still on guard with him
I don't want my heart broken
I have to get to know him more
The real him
If the nice guy persona he puts on is really him or just a show to woo me
Of he's really a player and not going to stop
I can't tell that from one date
My phone pings and I look at it
"I'll be there on five minutes", he texts
Butterflies fill my stomach again and I want to tell it to cut it the fuck out
He's been texting me since Saturday and I've answered, talking with him
He kept his word and isn't blowing up my phone
But I find myself wanting and waiting for his texts
It's crazy
I've never been like this with any guys before
And I never thought it'd be with San
"Great", I text back
Stuffing my phone in small bag, I take a breath and leave my apartment to wait for San
----------------------------------------------------
San holds my hand as we walk into the Seodaemun Natural History Museum
I've never been here before and honestly I'm excited
We walk in and I'm hit with a huge dinosaur skeleton in the middle of the concourse room
"Oh shit", I whisper
"Cool right? This is why I brought you here"
I look over at him questiongly
He just smiles, "You said you're a huge dinosaur nerd. So I brought you to see dinosaurs"
He...he remembered that?
I just said it in passing to make him feel better about liking to dance and sing
To embarrass myself
He was actually paying attention
"You remembered?"
He raises his eyebrow, "Of course I remember. I told you I really like you. I paid attention when we were talking. As soon as you said you loved dinosaurs, I knew I had to take you here for a date"
Oh my god
He's so fucking sweet and thoughtful
Who'd have thought?
He leads me to the skeleton, "What dinosaur is this?"
I read the sign, "Acrocanthosaurus"
"Looks like a T-Rex" he shrugs
I roll my eyes, "Not ever two legged meat eating dinosaur is a T-Rex San. T-Rex doesn't have spines on it's back or long arms like this one"
"Well excuse me", he teases
"You're excused"
He laughs, making me smile
"So what's that one?", he points to another skeleton
"Pteranodon", I answer easily
"I didn't know dinosaurs flew", he comments
"They don't. It's a pterosaur not a dinosaur"
"Uh what's the difference?"
"Oh god am I going to have to teach you everything here? Dinosaurs are land reptiles. Pterosaurs are flying reptiles.", I answer
"Huh. Did not know that. I guess you will have to teach me professor", he jokes
"If I'm going to be your professor you have to pass a test at the end. This knowledge doesn't come for free", I tease back
He nods, "Noted"
He looks around the room, "So that's a pterosaur to?"
I look where he's pointing, "Yup but I don't know that one's name"
Again he pulls me behind him and we look at the plaque on the wall
Tufuucsuara
Huh, I never heard of that one
"What are those?", he asks pointing to other skeletons
"Uh fish? I know dinosaurs not fish"
Chuckling he says, "Ok Jo. So let's get tickets and you can teach me about dinosaurs"
I hesitate
I want to go here and look at all the exhibits but I'm not sure he wants to
He brought me here for me
I don't want him to be bored
"San, we don't have to stay if you don't want to"
He tilts his head, "What do you mean?"
"Well uh this seems like something you're doing because I like it, not because you do too. I really don't know if you even like museums or stuff like this. It may be.... boring"
He shakes his head, "It's not boring. I like museums. Yeah I don't go to any much anymore but it doesn't mean I don't like them. I was honestly worried that you wouldn't like it. I know you like dinosaurs but I didn't know of you'd like to see them in museums"
"No I like museums. A lot", I admit, "You must think I'm a huge nerd"
"Not really. Plus like I said, nerds are hot"
I feel my cheeks blush
Oh my god he really said that
"And anywhere you are is where I wanna be so it won't be boring"
My eyebrow immediately raises, "So you can give compliments"
He rolls his eyes now, "Yeah. I told you I can. I told you I'm not an ass all the time"
"Yeah we'll see", I answer
He just shrugs, then leads me to the line for tickets
----------------------------------------------------
I'm so excited as we step into the Mesozoic section of the museum
We just finished the Paleozoic section with San asking me a million questions
I was able to answer most
He seems really interested in everything here
I hope he's not pretending
"Wow it's is so cool!", he exclaims
It really is
There's dinosaur skeletons all over the place, in displays all around the room and walls
There's also a life like display of dinosaurs
"So professor. Teach away"
He wants me to teach, then I will
"Well there's your T-Rex", I say, taking his hand and leading him to the skeleton, "See how little the arms are?"
"Yeah I do. You were right"
I snort, "Of course I'm right"
"Well you are the queen dinosaur nerd, so yeah"
I hurrumph but continue to look at the skeleton
It's so freaking gigantic, the claws long and sharp, the skull massive
I'd shit my pants if I'd see this thing in real life
"Those teeth are gnarly", San comments, his head raised to look at the skull
"They were the size of a banana"
"No shit? That's big. All the teeth were that size?"
"Yup"
"What were the little arms for? Could they do anything?"
"No one really knows. They were two small for grabbing. But with a head like that it didn't need to"
"That's for sure. It had to have horrible breath"
I burst out laughing, "Really? That's what you think of when you see this massive animal? It's breath?"
He laughs too, "Well now yeah. But not if it were alive. I'm pretty sure I'd be running and screaming like a little girl"
"Same"
We move on and look at the Stegosaurus and Triceratops skeletons
San asks me about the plates on the Stegosaurus and I tell him the theories scientists have for them
"That's always been my favorite dinosaur", he says pointing to the Triceratops
"Yeah?"
He nods, "It was one of the first ones I learned about and it just stuck with me"
"That's cute", I say
It really is
The dinosaur he learned fr his childhood
Little San's favorite
Adorable
"What's your favorite?", he asks
I point to a display across the room, "That's one"
"Well let's go see it"
When we get there I stare happily at the skeletons, studying everything about them as San reads the plaque
"Velociraptor"
I nod
"Where did you learn about this dinosaur? I don't remember ever hearing it's name or it coming in any dinosaur toy sets"
"From the movie Jurassic Park"
"You're favorite movie I guess", he smiles
"One of them. Have you seen it?"
He nods, "Yeah. It's the big dinosaur with the huge claws that kills almost everything. They're the ones on the kitchen with the kids and fights the T-Rex at the end"
"Well yes and no. In the movie they are shown to be big. Human sized"
"That's inaccurate?", he questions
"Yeah. The raptors that were huge like that are the Utah raptors. The Velociraptors were small like the skeletons here. Chicken sized"
"Chicken sized?", he says I'm disbelief, eyes going to the skeletons, "Oh man they are tiny. Guess they weren't really a threat like in the movie"
"Uh that's where you're wrong. Do you not see the huge claws? Plus they hunted in like packs of twenty. They could of brought down huge dinosaurs with that many biting and slashing the prey", I say hotly
I hate how people automatically think that because they were small they weren't dangerous
I'd like to see how those people would react to having that claw buried in their leg
"Ok sorry. I uh didn't know you were so uh passionate about this", he apologizes
"Yeah we'll they're my favorite dinosaur. I tend to get cranky when people make fun of my favorite things"
"Yeah I get it. I'm really sorry", he repeats
"It's ok. I'm overdramatic about things anyway"
He cracks a smile and fuck, I really like it when he smiles
When he shows his dimples
He takes out his phone, "Wanna take a picture with your favorite dinosaur?"
I nod, "Sure"
Standing next to the display, I smile and hear the phone click
"Great", he says, starting to put his camera away
"Wait"
I take his phone turning the camera back on
A museum worker is passing by and I stop her, "Can you take a picture of us please?"
"Oh sure", she answers cheerfully, taking San's phone
San is looking at me in disbelief as I take his hand and maneuvering him next to me
"Stop looking so shocked and smile", I scold
I move his arm around me and he puts his hand on my waist
Chills run up my back from his touch
I need to stop
I don't want him to know how he affects me
Not yet
Leaning closer to him, the girl says, "Ready? Smile"
I smile wide because fuck it, I'm happy
"Good. One more", she says, taking another
When she lowers the phone, I go get it from her and immediately go to his gallery
Where I notice that he has like ten pictures
Most of them of me and him
When I look at one of the pictures of us, my heart drops
We look like a couple
He's smiling so beautifully, his arm around me and me leaning against his chest
When I swipe to the next one of us, I gasp quietly
I'm looking at the camera and smiling.
But San.
He's looking down at me, a soft smile on his face
I love the picture and immediately send all the of them to my phone before he can delete that one
I can guess he'll be embarrassed and want no evidence of it
"Did they come out good?", he asks
"Yeah. You can look at them later. Now we need pictures of you and your Triceratops"
He chuckles as we go back to the Triceratops
He takes a picture alone, then we take a selfie with the Triceratops in the back ground
Again I grab his phone and send the pictures to myself
We continue walking around the exhibit, looking at the Troodon and Pachycephalosaurus displays, as well as more
The last display to see is the famous Protoceratops and Velociraptor battle to the death skeletons
"So this really happened?", San asks, looking at the plaque
"Yeah San. You don't know about this? It's kinda famous"
"Uh sorry. No", he answers, "Who won?"
"Neither. As they were fighting a huge sand storm happened and buried them under hundreds of pounds of sand"
"Well that blows", he comments
"Yeah"
We wander to the next room which is the Cenozoic era, when prehistoric mammals we're alive
"Oh shit a wooly Mammoth", he exclaims, dragging me over immediately, "Oh it's so awesome! The life like version and the skeleton side by side"
It really is amazing
The mammoth really was that huge.
The hair just made it fatter
"What's that next to it?", San asks, looking at a smaller skeleton
I look and know what it is immediately, "Smilodon. Saber tooth cat"
"It says tiger here", San points out
I raise an eyebrow at him
"It's incorrect right?"
I nod
"There were no saber tooth tigers. They were saber tooth cats?"
I nod again
He's learning
"Alright. Still scary though"
"Yeah and these things were around when the first humans were around"
"No shit really?", he asks surprised
"Yup. Humans hunted Wooly Mammoths and saber toothed cats hunted humans"
"Damn. Scary world back them"
"For sure. Imagine seeing one of those things running at you?", I say, pointing to the Smilodon, "Imagine getting bitten by those freaking teeth"
He gulps, "Yeah no thanks. I'm glad I'm in this time"
I laugh, agreeing with him
He takes my hand as we continue to walk around the room
----------------------------------------------------
"Did you have fun?", he asks, as we slowly walk to my building
"I did. So much"
"Good. I did too. You were a good teacher"
I blush but smile
After I schooled him in dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals, we went to see the rest of the museum exhibits- marine mammals, animals from the world, birds, insects, amphibians and reptiles, minerals and rocks, the solar system, plants
We covered most of the museum, staying until closing
We also went to the gift shop and he surprised me with a stuffed Velociraptor
He bought it while I was looking at some books
It's so cute and soft and cuddly and I love it
I honestly don't want this date to end
I'm not ready for him to leave
But I don't want to do anything I'll regret so I keep quiet as I open my front door
Again I turn to face him, smiling
"Thanks for today San. It was a nice surprise and I really had an amazing time"
"I did too. And we can do it again? Another date?", he asks hopefully
"We better", I agree
He smiles brightly, nodding, "I'll figure something out and call you ok?"
I smile nodding
He comes closer and fuck I want him to kiss me
I feel his soft lips on my cheek, kissing softly
And fuck, I swoon again
It's not the kiss I was hoping for but it's still amazing
"Bye Jo"
"Bye San"
I watch him walk away, smiling like a doofus
When he turns the corner, I close the door and head to my bedroom to change
Still smiling

Trick or Treat
pairing: female reader x kim seokjin
genre: romance, humour
word count: 3,233
rating: PG-13 i guess?
warnings: the beginnings of heavy petting, seokjin is dressed like clark kent
summary: you’re not a fan of Halloween, normally leaving your building’s trick or treaters in the capable hands of your trusty plastic skeleton, Frank, while you enjoy a hot bath, a film and a bottle of wine. this year, however, Jin unexpectedly shows up at your door and you find he’s not an unwelcome addition to your plans for the evening.
a/n: I don’t really know where this came from, but Happy Halloween!
written for my ‘Trick or Treat’ prompt for @btsholidaybingo
Tumblr media
Stepping into the elevator of your apartment building, you’re careful to avoid the fake webbing spread over the paneling as you press the button for the third floor. With your left hand, you absentmindedly tap out the rhythm of a song that’s been stuck in your head all day around the handles of a small grocery bag, a few treats picked up on the way home to reward yourself for once again resisting losing your temper at your annoying colleague this week. As you wait for the elevator to rise, you take your phone out of your pocket to browse through some social media, seeing if any of your friends have posted pictures of their costumes yet. While you’re disappointed not to see Jungkook’s face covered in fake blood or Namjoon and his girlfriend posing in matching horror novel-themed costumes just yet, you do find yourself being drawn to a few celebrity’s images who have already posted their outfits.
With a sigh you’re locking your phone again and swapping it for your keys, desperate for the moment you can shut your door behind you and lock it for the evening. Despite yourself, though, you can’t help the small smile that pushes at your lips as you take in the drawings that have been put up by some of the kids in the building; grimacing pumpkins and wailing ghosts wishing the other residents a ‘Happy Halloween’.
You’re quietly relieved that the hallway on your floor is currently empty. You figure the building’s kids have started on the bottom floor and are making their way up, especially when you can hear the distant delighted screams and giggles echoing up the stairwell, so you’ve made it in time to avoid the begging eyes of children promised free sweets for their dressing up efforts.
The sight of your door, the only one completely bare of any fake spiders or red-paint handprints, brings a wave of relief over you, tension slipping from your shoulders already at just the thought of running a hot bath to soak away the stress of the work week. Friday has come at just the right time once again; even if tonight is Halloween, you’re still intent on carrying out your plans of bath, wine, movie and sleep.
It’s not that you hate Halloween. It’s just… you are strongly indifferent to Halloween. It was never a holiday that you took part in growing up, even with your older sister dressing up and going to parties every year throughout her teenage years and your parents always happily opening up the door for the neighbourhood kids out trick or treating. Other than not liking scary films, there isn’t really anything you hold against the annual appearance of carved pumpkins and the ridiculous unbranded costumes. You’re just not bothered.
You place your shopping on the kitchen counter once you make your way into your home, flicking a few lights on as you go. The bottle of wine goes in the fridge, along with a bar of your favourite chocolate that you only indulge in every once in a while. You sit the unopened bag of crisps in a bowl, ready to open them when you settle in for your movie later, and then move on to the final step in your evening plans before locking up.
The one Halloween-themed decoration you have is a standing skeleton, no taller than waist height, his hands outstretched in front of him. The same year you bought your bony guardian, who you have affectionately named Frank for no reason in particular, you also picked up a bright orange plastic bowl decorated on one side with a jack-o-lantern’s jagged grin, and it’s this bowl that you fill with a few bags of wrapped sweets and place in Frank’s upturned hands after slipping a small sign over his arms to hang below the bowl.
Frank and his sugary cargo is carried lovingly out into the corridor and placed beside your door, and you make sure the sign is sitting far enough forward that it’s still visible:
“Please don’t knock or ask for tricks or treats - instead you can help yourself to Frank’s bowl of sweets!”
Satisfied with your little set up, you finally allow yourself to lock your door and head towards your bathroom. You’ve used this set up for the last few years that you’ve lived in your building and, other than a little bit of confusion in the first year, it’s worked like a charm. The few parents who spoke to you in the days following Halloween were appreciative of the fact that you still put something out for their overexcited kids and quietly confessed that they didn’t blame you for not wanting to keep opening your door throughout the evening. After the second year, Frank became somewhat of a building celebrity, and now you’re quite happy knowing that the kids look forward to seeing him every year. They know you more as The Christmas Lady, given your clear preference and enthusiasm for the winter holidays, and a few suspect the Easter Bunny lives with you and Frank, too.
Pouring in a generous amount of your favourite vanilla chai bubble bath, you take a deep breath of the rising scents of vanilla, cloves and cinnamon and start unbuttoning your blouse as you walk to your bedroom, leaving the water to run. You grab your fluffiest dressing gown and your favourite pyjamas, setting them out on the top of your bathroom hamper ready for when you finish your bath, before undressing completely. Your discarded clothes go in the hamper before you perch on the edge of the tub, running your hands through the water to check the temperature and fluff up the bubbles.
You ignore the first knock on your front door, assuming that, like always, there’s one person who hasn’t read Frank’s sign. As a rule, you never open your door and Halloween night, sure that anyone who is confused will either figure it out or give up and move on.
Turning off the water, you get ready to step into the steaming, bubbly water and melt your troubles of the week away when a second, more insistent knocking comes from your front door. With a sigh, you grab your dressing gown and slip it on as you make your way to the front door, tying off the belt as you look out through your peephole to see is bothering you.
To your surprise, you’re met with a grown man and no children. He’s dressed in a simple suit, a white shirt under a black blazer, but with the top few buttons undone you can see a blue t-shirt poking out. His square-rimmed glasses frame his wide eyes, his dark hair pushed back with one small section styled to fall back down over his forehead. You roll your eyes as you unlock your door, stepping back as you open it with a smirk and lean against the frame.
“Hey, Jin,” the man in question straightens up at the sound of his name, pushing his chest out slightly and placing a hand on his hip. The other is holding a paper bag, at the top of which you’re pretty sure you spot another bottle of wine.
“Ma’am,” he says with a curt nod in your direction, a playful glint in his eyes and a matching smirk on his plump lips.
You’ve been seeing Jin for the last couple of months, not quite officially a couple yet but definitely enjoying each other’s company on a regular basis. This wasn’t the first time he’d turned up unannounced, especially since he’d found out you’d been having a stressful time at work over the last few weeks, but you definitely weren’t expecting to see him tonight, not when Namjoon was hosting a party.
Namjoon was your mutual friend and the person who had introduced you to Jin, the two men becoming quick friends when Jin had transferred into Namjoon’s department earlier in the year. He hadn’t introduced the two of you with the intention of setting you up to date, but had simply invited Jin along to a few nights out over the summer, his new colleague quickly being adopted by the rest of your friendship group.
So for Jin to show up at your apartment, a decidedly Halloween-free zone, rather than a party, was indeed a bit of a surprise.
“Can I help you?” you ask innocently, folding your arms over your chest.
“Guess who I am first,” he challenges, pushing his shoulders back to puff out his chest just a little bit more. You make a show of looking him up and down, exaggerating a frown.
“Hmm, Patrick Bateman?”
“He doesn’t even wear glasses!” Jin’s shoulders deflate as he whines, disappointment evident on his face that you can’t help but giggle at.
“Yes, he does,” you point out, thinking back to Christian Bale’s portrayal of the serial killer. “And it would make more sense to be dressed as him for Halloween: Superman isn’t even scary.”
“You don’t like scary,” Jin points out and your heart flutters slightly that he knows that already, a gentle blush rising in your cheeks.
“Yes, well, true as that may be, you haven’t answered my question,” you shuffle slightly on the spot to try and hide how flustered he makes you so easily, but the smile tugging at his lips lets you know that he’s already aware.
“Well, I-”
“Hey!” a small shout down the hall startles you both, the two of you turning to see one of the little girls you recognise from the floor above you, a usually-charming little lady called Maisie. Clearly having run ahead of her parents and younger brother, she’s stood at the top of the stairs, watching you both intently. She’s dressed in what you would consider to be a classic witch costume, with stripy black and purple tights under the puffball skirt of a black dress, a pointed black hat sat on her blonde curls. She has green face paint on and a cape flowing out behind her, a plastic broom in one hand, a small plastic pumpkin already half-filled with goodies in the other. She points her broom handle at Jin, and the grown man in front of you even jumps slightly at the young fury in her eyes. “You’re not supposed to knock on Christmas Lady’s door!” she cries, and if you weren’t so shocked you might laugh at the image of a child defending your honour from someone as gentle as Jin. “You’re meant to go to Frank, he’s in charge of Halloween!”
Jin’s floundering on the end of the five year-old’s glare and you’re touched that Maisie has not only remembered your traditional delegation of Halloween responsibilities to your plastic skeleton, but she believes Jin is bothering you by breaking those rules.
“It’s okay, Maisie,” you assure her and she lowers her broom, although her eyes stay pinned on Jin. “He’s a friend, I was just letting him in.”
“You were?” hope is evident in Jin’s voice when he turns to you, a bright smile lighting up his eyes.
“Yes,” you say as you quickly usher him in before Maisie can ask any more questions, and he slips through the door beside you to enter your apartment. “Thank you for remembering the rules, though, Maisie,” the little girl’s face immediately melts from a frown into a sheepish smile. “Although maybe don’t shout next time, okay?” she nods quickly, her pointed hat wobbling on her head as she promises you that she won’t. “I’m sure Frank wouldn’t mind you taking a few extra sweeties for remembering Halloween is his favourite time of year, though.” You wink and she giggles, skipping over to carefully pick out her favourites from the bright orange bowl.
Just as you wish her a happy Halloween, you see her parents come up the stairwell and offer them a polite wave, which they return as Maisie skips over to them to tell them Frank gave her extra treats this year.
You head back into your apartment, locking the door once again with a sigh and turning to your new houseguest, who stands on the edge of your kitchen, watching you with a smile.
“Sorry for causing trouble,” he smirks and you grin, shaking your head.
“Don’t worry about it. Maisie’s a sweetheart, really.” You eye him carefully, finally able to appreciate the exquisite cut of his suit that makes him look like he walked straight off of a photoshoot. “So, really, what did you want?”
“Oh!” Jin offers you the paper bag he’s still holding with a flourish and a tinge of pink in his cheeks. “Namjoon said you don’t like parties, so I thought I’d bring you a little care package.” Your fingers brush as you take the bag and you resist the urge to take a hold of his hand instead, a tingle of anticipation shooting up your arm and flourishing in your chest. “I also thought you might like some company, so,” Jin adjusts his glasses to hide his nervousness, worried you might turn him away even though he’s now stood in your apartment and you look down to inspect the contents of the bag to hide the growing flush on your face. There is indeed a bottle of wine, a more expensive label of your favourite rosé, as well as what seems to be some fancy take-out boxes containing slices of cheesecake.
You’re used to being alone on Halloween, most of your closest friends opting to go out for alcohol-soaked parties or spend time with their partners instead, so you’re not quite sure how to react to the idea that someone has willingly given up one of the biggest party nights of the year to be with you.
“It’s just Halloween parties I don’t like,” you smile sheepishly, moving further into the kitchen to put the wine and food in the fridge to chill. “Or Halloween at all, really.”
“Really?” You nod shyly, already internally wincing at the slew of objections you normally get when you state your indifference towards the spooky holiday. “What were you planning on doing instead, then?” The ease with which Jin simply accepts it and moves on surprises you, and you find your heart beating a little bit faster as he looks at you with genuine curiosity.
You suddenly remember your outfit, pulling the lapels of your dressing gown together a little tighter across your chest. You and Jin have shared several heated moments over the time you’ve known each other, and while his hands may have slipped under your top and climbed higher up your back a few times, he’s never seen you in any state of undress.
“I was actually going to have a bath,” you say, tucking your hair behind your ear, a nervous laugh escaping you. “I was literally about to get in before you knocked.”
“Oh right, erm,” Jin has the good graces to look embarrassed, shuffling his feet awkwardly as he struggles to figure out where to look. The two of you stand on opposite sides of your small kitchen, neither of you quite sure what to do. You wonder if he felt the same shift in the air as you did at the idea of you being naked on the other side of the door when he arrived. “So are you, erm…” Jin vaguely gestures towards you, cheeks burning red as he stumbles over his words. “Are you still going to-? I mean, do you want to-? Do you want me to-?”
Seeing Jin, a man usually so effortlessly confident, struggling to keep his cool around you gives you a strange surge of confidence that you can’t explain but don’t dismiss, leading you to cut him off with a single, straightforward question.
“Would you like to join me?”
You giggle at the way Jin falls silent, mouth still open mid-sentence. You take the belt of your robe between your fingers, gently teasing at the idea of undoing it for him, watching his eyes drop down to follow the action. You see his jaw tense and he swallows, and when his eyes lift back up to yours they are significantly darker than they were before, his tongue slipping out across his bottom lip before he bites it. And just like that, the stuttering man is gone.
“Would you like me to?”
“Would I ask if I didn’t?” you cock your eyebrow as he crosses the room towards you, eyes unabashedly raking up and down your form. You’ve never considered your fluffy dressing gown to be one of your sexier outfits, but Jin is quickly making you reconsider those thoughts as he tentatively places a hand on your hip, fingers gently stroking the fabric. You can’t pull your eyes away from his, the dark heat in his eyes boring into yours and stoking the fire burning in your abdomen.
“Better take this off then, hadn’t we?” you feel his hands cover yours, long fingers gently prying yours away from the strip of fabric keeping him from your body. The adrenaline pulsing in your veins gives you a better idea, however, and you dip out of his grasp to make your way back towards your bathroom. With a coy smile on your lips, you gently undo the knot yourself and slowly let the fabric fall from your shoulders, exposing your naked form to his eyes. He’s frozen in the middle of your kitchen, so you give him a beckoning curl of your finger before slowly stepping out of his field of vision.
Biting your lip, you pray you haven’t jumped the gun and taken this relationship a step too far too soon, but the gentle footsteps that begin to follow you assure you that he’s definitely interested. You enjoy the feeling of the air against your skin with the sway of your hips, pausing at the entrance to the bathroom to look back over your shoulder.
The sight of Jin unbuttoning his shirt as he follows you sends another bolt of heat through you, although the sight of his Superman shirt underneath does make you burst out laughing. He blushes, laughing nervously as he shrugs off the shirt, but your laughter soon dies in your throat as he quickly lifts the t-shirt off over his head in one quick motion. Seeing his bare chest for the first time shuts you up pretty quickly, the expanse of skin combined with his black trousers, black glasses and black, styled hair leaving you almost drooling over him.
WIth a bite of your lip you wait for him to come to you, your hands immediately reaching out to touch him with an eagerness you don’t even care to hide. It’s returned, though, as Jin’s hands immediately find your waist and pull you close. His face is mere millimetres from yours, breaths ghosting over each other’s cheeks before he ducks his head to bury his face in your neck. The gentle press of his lips against your skin makes you gasp, the heat of his mouth melting any remaining hesitation you still held.
Your fingertips brush over the muscles of his abdomen, his breath catching as you tease the sensitive skin of his hips before gripping onto his belt and pulling him into the bathroom, the heat between the two of you adding to the already steamy room.

Ryden Fics
Here’s some I recommend, and I appreciate the authors for making these because AhajjHha
(I’m sure most of these will be on google if you look up the title)
(and I’m also sure all of these are r rated)
The Heart Rate of A Mouse
It’s the seventies. Basically, sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Ryan’s band, “The Followers”, go on tour. One of their roadies gets injured and needs a last minute replacement, which happens to be Brendon-Gay-Urie. And it goes on from there. There may be a lot of bumps in the road, but Ryan finally figures out who he is.
My rating: 12/10
So long and ow my heart. Beautifully written and so poetic. This is probably the most popular ryden fic, but if you haven’t read it yet, jump on the bandwagon. It’s so totally worth it. You won’t forget about it.
The Black Rose Season
Ryan’s college scholarship gets cut short, and he has to reach drastic measures to get it covered: spy on a secret society that is lead by Brendon Urie. He wanted to get the job done so he could graduate, no strings tied. But that never happens.
My rating: 10/10
I love the story line for this, I was really digging the college AU. It was so mysterious and dark, but also bright and funny at the same time. Also the plot twists just, well, twist you up. Definitely worth a read.
Filthy Lucre
Brendon makes a living from prostitution, and sends most of his earnings to help his parents, leaving him with almost nothing. Ryan on the other hand, is extremely fortunate and famous. He is liability of his family, causing trouble and making headlines, never sober. When their paths cross, Ryan realizes maybe he doesn’t need drugs to make him forget his past.
My rating: 10/10
It’s such an amazing story despite being unfinished, and it really (even though it’s super, uh) has a good moral behind it. There’s some stories you forget, but this one will always be remembered for me.
Coffee
Brendon gets kicked out of his parents house, and Jon and Ryan take him in. That doesn’t last long though, but they will fight to get him back.
My rating: 8/10
This story moved a little too fast for me and it was also a tad too dramatic for my taste, but if you like that this is perfect for you. Minus that, I recommend it a lot. Super fluff-y.
The Key of Victory
Brendon gets a chance to be on a TV show called “The Key of Victory,” that chooses the best musical talent and gives them a kick start into their career. He is determined to win. Along the way he befriends Ryan Ross, one of the judges.
My rating: 9/10
This story is really creative and it’s also adorable as fuck. If you want a medium length story, choose this.
And That Smile That You Gave to Me
Jon develops a master plan to help Ryan win Brendon over. He has to follow EVERY step the correct way or it won’t work
My rating: 7/10
This one is pretty short but it gets the point across pretty well. If you want a super cute one-shot, this is probably your best bet.
Oh Doctor Doctor
Ever since Brendon started working in the oncology department, he has had a crush on the head surgeon, Ryan. Unfortunately for him, he has been declined for years. Until one night.
My rating: 10/10
This is one of my favorites because I love the hospital AU. It’s also the most adorable thing ever, like, it’ll have you screeching. Definitely the fluffiest on here. It’s not long, either. Literally go read it now. :)
In Case the Scene Gets Nasty
Brendon Urie has a smart mouth that gets him into bad situations. Especially fights with Ryan Ross. But Ryan’s no angel either, he’s pissy and temperamental. They develop a burning hate for each other. The extravagant amounts of fighting earn them both detentions for the rest of the semester, alone together, organizing files. During detention they both realize there’s something better they can do besides fight.
My rating: 12/10
This one. I love it so much. They literally hate each others guts, but they both have pretty rough lives and realize that’s something to bond over. If you haven’t read this yet seriously go do it you won’t regret it.
Iron, Neon Lights, and Weed
Brendon wants to pursue his dream by becoming a musician, but to do that he has to get a record deal. There was talk about this secret club in the city, called “The Bridge,” that gives them out to people that have the most potential. A new friend brings him in, and he meets a (dashing) guy called Ryan. Aside from that, Brendon has to convince someone called “Ross” that he’s record-deal-material.
My rating: 10/10
Do I even need to say an opinion about this one? It’s Anna Green so it’s obviously going to be great. Probably in my top five. It’s one you won’t forget either.
Two Weeks in Hawaii
Ryan was left at the altar by Pete, and Spencer and Jon force him to go on his honeymoon trip, in Hawaii, to get over it. He meets a resident, Brendon, and they both fall pretty hard for each other. It’s a shame Ryan has to leave in two weeks.
My rating: 7/10
SO CUTE. SO FLUFF. I LOVE. It also moves kinda fast for me, which is not really my thing. Also there’s like a ton of other couples in there besides Ryan and Brendon, but the main focus is always them. If you like that it’s worth a read :)
Burning Down Cathedrals
Ryan is a huge fan of “Established Heroes”, and it’s kind of a shocker when the famous Brendon Urie shows up to his family picnic. It’s even better when they become friends (or more?). Then it starts to feel like a dream when he asks if Ryan’s band could be their opener during the next tour. Sadly, good things don’t last long.
My rating: 10/10
This one feels oddly real even though it’s a fanfic. It’s also like super depressing and it makes you feel. And that obviously means it’s written amazingly. Highly recommend:)))
Posing in a Ballroom
The Smith-Urie brothers have everything, or it may so seem. In reality they’re covering up their own family secrets. But they’re not the only ones. Their friends, Ryan and Jon, have some skeletons of their own. It’s one man for himself. They can’t hide their feelings forever.
My rating: 6/10
The story is written so good, but it’s literally like a soap opera. It’s also not strictly ryden, and the other relationships get lots of the spotlight too. It’s kinda one of those “woah-i-didn’t-see-that-coming” stories. Conveys tons of feelings. Just gonna leave it at that.
Miguel Sanchez’s Grand Slam of Love
Ryan is a famous tennis player, and also a self-conceited asshole. He throws a bit of a fit when a newcomer wins to him in Australia. Ryan has hated this “Brendon Urie” ever since, but Brendon couldn’t settle with that, apparently. Now the man has Ryan wrapped around his little finger.
My rating: 10/10
Honestly it’s so fun to imagine Ryan as a world-famous tennis player because that’s probably the last thing he would do. And I love it. It’s sorta short, but again highly highly recommend.
ok so that’s all I have for now but if i find more that are super good I will add them on!!
