You always had so much fun at the fireman's festival each year. Even as you get older, it’s nice to see the kids running around and having fun like you once did. Nowadays, you sit and chat with the firemen's wives and older kids as you all eat together.
Your dad had been the fire chief for the last 5 years after serving the community for at least 15. He was a good, honest, and hardworking man, and to him and your two brothers he was your hero. All of the men and women he’s worked alongside have been family to both him and all of you.
You had been laughing at something with your mom when you decided to get up for more barbecue. The ribs were amazing every year, and you weren't gonna miss an opportunity to have seconds while the line was short. You stood behind about five people and waited for your turn when you felt a tap at your shoulder.
"Hey." His smile was bright and oh so inviting. His eyes were a cheerful blue, and his hair was a dark brunette that was combed up and nearly fluffy. He was handsome, but you had no idea who he was. Yet, you didn’t want to be impolite, so with your same sweet demeanor, you greeted him back with "Oh, hello."
"You’re Chuck’s daughter, right?"
"Uh, yeah. Do you know him?"
"Damn well should; he’s my boss now." He chuckled as the line moved up.
"Oh, are you a new recruit?" You asked as you stepped forward, and he followed a little too closely, yet his new proximity wasn’t uncomfortable. In fact, as his shoulder brushed yours and he flashed that bright smile down at you, your heart started to beat a little faster.
"Graduated from the academy a couple weeks ago. I’m one of a couple new guys."
"Oh right, it’s nice to meet you...uh"
"James" he said as he extended his hand to yours, and you let him pull your little fingers into a firm shake before he continued with, "But you can call me Bucky."
His hands were strong and warm to the touch, making the heat from his fingers spread around your arm and up your neck.
"Will I be seeing you often enough to do that?"
You must have been blushing as you noticed his smile curling further up with satisfaction before he let your hand go and answered, "I hope so."
The line moved up again, and without fail, he inched closer until your back was almost touching his chest after you’d turned towards the line. When you looked back at him, his smile had started to fade as he looked out at the crowd. You matched his line of sight to see the gleaming bald head of your father breaking through the small sea of people. He seemed to be glaring between the two of you as he quickened his pace towards the line.
His goofy gray mustache was tilted in an unsavory direction as he came up to you and spoke with an odd sense of urgency. "Your mom needs you over by the picnic tables, sweetheart."
"Oh? But I was just there; I was gonna get.."
"I’ll get ya another plate; just go back to your mom, ok?"
"Uh, ok." You turned back to Bucky and bid him a goodbye before leaving the line to let your dad take your place.
When you make it back to the picnic tables and your mom says, "Hey sweetie, weren’t you getting something to eat?"
"Dad is grabbing me a plate; he said you needed me."
"I didn’t tell him I needed you."
"But he said..."
Your father walks past you before turning and handing you a plate full of saucy ribs, and you give him a brief "uh, thank you."
Your mother questioned him immediately upon his return.
"Chuck, what did you tell her?"
"Nothing..it’s just.." he turns towards you this time, "you don’t need to be around that young man."
"What?" You asked as your face scrunched with visible confusion.
"Charles!"
"Now, I mean it. There’s somethin not right about him." Your father said this as he sat down next to your mother.
"He’s like new; you'd barely know him." Your dad’s overly protective behavior was often exasperating, and you weren’t afraid to voice as much.
"My gut tells me there’s something off."
"Are you sure it wasn’t that second helping of potato salad?" Your mother said as she side-eyed your father.
"Don’t joke like that." He spoke back to her.
"I wasn’t entirely joking, George. You sound a little ridiculous." She said
"He sounds overly protective." You piped up before scooping up a bite of food.
He gives you both a glare. "I’m just doing what a dad needs to do."
You’ll only ever meet Bucky a handful of times after the fireman’s festival. He was always sweet, yet every time he had a chance to talk to you, your dad would often intervene and direct you in a different direction. If you took a second to look back at the other man, you’d see his smile would be gone and his jaw slightly clenched.
The two of you would become better acquainted after one fateful night. You would be awoken by the insistent beeping of a single smoke detector in the hall by your bedroom. In a matter of seconds, the entire space had been filled with smoke, and you were left on your bed struggling to breathe. You couldn't see any more than a few inches in front of you, and it was a miracle you hadn’t suffocated in your sleep.
A thick gloved hand broke through the black clouds and reached towards you, slipping under your shoulders as another slid under your knees. The gleam of the glass protector that covered your Savior's face was all you saw as you were carried out of the blazing building.
The fresh air hit unerringly hard as you were rushed out your front door directly towards the flashing lights of an ambulance. Your body was rocking in time with your Savior’s steps as they deposited you onto a gurney.
Their mask, once clear, was blackened over by ash after they had to burst out of the flames that ate away your home. Yet, even through the soot, a pair of piercing blue eyes could still be seen. The paramedics crowded around as the tether between you disappeared among the sea of uniformed people.
Your own eyes rolled away as the ambulance blurred into a mix of black sky and sterile metal walls. You wouldn’t open them again until you reached the hospital, where they’d treat your burns and later put you under observation. The few you had were small and would leave only mild scars behind, and at the very least you were thankful to be alive.
Waking up on your second day in the hospital, you didn’t say or see much, only watching the hospital staff as they periodically checked your status. You’d hoped to see your family, but there hadn’t been any sign of them.
It was a pleasant surprise when a nurse arrived to tell you that you had a visitor. The image of your parents popped into your head, only to vanish as your guest walked in.
"Bucky?"
You would have never expected to see him, especially since you’d only managed to speak to him a few times thus far.
"Hi doll. How are you feeling?" He asked with a bright and inviting smile. He had a bouquet of fresh yellow and white flowers with a pink bow twisted around a ‘get well soon’ tag.
"I'm alright. What brings you here? I haven’t seen you since…" Your memory was so fuzzy from all that had happened, but you didn’t need to finish your sentence as Bucky cleared his throat and continued it for you.
"Since the fire, we were all so thankful that I was lucky enough to pull you out on time."
He set the flower on the table beside you as he took a seat by the bed. Just as your shocked and painful face twisted when the tears pushed their way out into the company of this stranger before you could catch them, "I-I can’t thank you all enough that I’m even here right now."
"Hey.." He snatched a tissue from one of the counters out of your reach to dab at your wet cheeks. "It’s all a part of the job."
You nod, trying to shake the pain that started to knot inside your belly from finally taking in the reality of what happened. "Thank you, Bucky."
Another smile pulled back over his previously grim expression, but this one was much sadder than the first. "I came by to make sure you were doing better."
"I am doing a little better. They said the burns were minor and that they might let me out in a day or two. It’s nice that the boys at the station care so much." You can feel the tears dribble out again, but you don’t want to cry right now, so you try to force them back in.
"I’m sure my dad is beside himself."
He let out a short cough before addressing the new issue: "Actually, he..he went in to save you too, and he didn’t make it out. I’m sorry, but..here" He pulls his phone from his pocket and searches up the article that had already graced the local news.
The first image you see is a picture of your burning home, the next is a smiling snapshot of your dad, who had been pronounced dead not long after the incident, per the article.
This was the absolute worst way to find out that your dad had perished in that fire, while trying to save you no less. It’s a solid cinder block to the chest, and you can feel it sucking every ounce of oxygen out of the room.
Bucky is there beside you, arms wrapping around you as you gasp and sputter into his shoulder.
He was the only thing you could burrow into at this moment, until the thought of your mother crossed through the cloud of grief.
"Oh my god, my mom. Can I use your phone to call her, please?" Your nails dug into his shirt as you begged.
He picked up his phone from your lap, only to put it back in his back pocket.
"No, please." You pleaded as you grabbed his sleeve to keep him from taking it.
"It’s going to be alright; we were able to recover this." He reaches into his coat this time and hands you a plain black phone. Once you tilt it up, a familiar flowery background flashes over the screen.
It was a sight for the sorest of eyes to see your cell phone, and it’s even pristine so you could use it right away. You thank him over and over for saving you a new life line since you hadn’t spoken to your family since before the incident.
You tap in your code and find your mother's contact immediately before addressing your only visitor.
"I’m sorry, I just..I need to call her. Can you give me a minute, Bucky?"
"Of course." He said as he pushed up from his chair before leaving the room to let you use the phone. You clicked the green call button as soon as he left, listening with a heavy heart only to have it drop into your stomach when the call rang out into a ‘beep, beep, beep’.
You hung up and tried again, only to get the same busy tone. You tried again and again, until you couldn’t bring yourself to click the call button another time.
The room felt disgustingly silent as you squeezed the phone in your hand and choked out some fresh tears. When Bucky knocked at the door to check on you again, you just let him come back in.
"Any luck?" He asked as he sat back down beside you.
You could only shake your head before letting it fall back onto his shoulder again. He was right by your side, ready to hold you.
"It rang busy." You mumbled into his shirt.
"I’m sure she just has a lot on her plate with all that’s happened. The next time she’ll pick up, ok?" He grabs you some more tissues to help dry your tears as you nod and try to give him a reassuring smile to show that it will be better.
He stayed and chatted with you until visitation time was over. He leaned in and kissed the side of your head on the way out, saying, "I’ll be back tomorrow; hopefully you can get ahold of your family."
"Thank you, Bucky."
"It’s no problem, Doll." And with that, he left again to see to his own life, making the room depressingly quiet.
You tried to dial up your mom again, as well as a few other people, only to get similar results. There was either a busy signal or a disconnected number, and each failure to connect with someone left you more and more disheartened.
There was only one number you were able to get a hold of, and it was just the insurance company regarding your house, or at least what’s left of it. You had good insurance, and they assured you that damages would be covered in full, but with the cycle of bureaucracy, you wouldn’t see that check for a while.
Bucky came back the next day with a takeaway lunch for the both of you. Anything was better than the hospital food, and it was nice to have his company as you tried to figure things out.
Even though the damage to your body was minimal, your house was beyond repair. You didn’t have very many resources and hadn’t been able to get in touch with family, so you weren’t sure where you would be staying upon being discharged.
Upon hearing about your plight, Bucky leapt at the opportunity. "You can stay with me, just until you get this all figured out."
"I can’t do that to you; you barely know me." He was still a stranger, and you couldn’t bring yourself to burden him like this.
"Everyone at the station knows YOU, and so many of us care a great deal about you," he says, taking your shaking hand in his and pressing warmth into your skin as fresh tears rolled down your cheeks.
"Your dad was a good man, and I’m not about to let his daughter end up on the streets after something like this."
You stared up into those soothing blue eyes, like a calming lagoon, as they pulled you into a comfortable place.
"I can’t thank you enough, Bucky." You push forward on the bed and pull him into a tight hug. He embraces you back, pressing his palm to the small of your back as he buries his nose into the side of your hair.
There wouldn’t be anything to grab from the house; there was no house anymore. No clothes, no important documents—all of it was gone, and you’d have to rebuild from almost nothing. Thankfully, Bucky wouldn’t be far away to help you stand strong through the whole ordeal. He’s the only one who had visited you in the hospital over the past few days.
You’d often remember that whenever you thought to dial up your mother's number again. You didn’t bother pressing that little green call button anymore, not wanting to relive the disappointment of the call ringing busy again.
Bucky came back the next morning with a change of clothes, so you didn’t have to leave in a hospital gown. The underwear were granny panties at best, and it was accompanied by a plain sports bra. He would have had to guess your size, but everything seemed to fit alright.
The t-shirt was a v-neck in pink, paired with black workout pants, white socks, and a pair of sneakers. It was jarring that you truly had to start over so far behind that a man you barely knew had to buy you clothes just so you could leave a hospital.
This man had to be a saint for going this far out of his way for you.
By the time you were ushered into his car, you were thankful for the radio as it kept the creeping silence at bay as he drove you away. You’d been through a lot, and a little bit of music went a long way as he took you through unfamiliar neighborhoods to his home.
When he pulled into his driveway, he turned towards your somber presence. "Are you alright? I know a lot has happened.."
You shake your head and mumble, "No, I don’t think I’ll be alright for a while, but I’m so thankful for your help. I really am."
"It’s fine, really. I just want you to be safe." He gave you a sad smile before he clicked the door open and rounded the car to let you out.
His home was nice, painted a warm beige on the outside and decorated with white, navy, and black on the inside. He walked ahead of you with a plastic grocery bag of new clothes to last you a few days. You shut the door behind you and followed him to his guest room, where you'd be staying. It was another beautiful white and navy layout, with a bit of gray thrown in.
"This is it. Please, if you need anything, let me know." His voice was sincere, but his eyes seemed sad as he spoke.
"This is more than I could have asked for, Bucky. Thank you." You wanted to crawl into those navy sheets and never come out, yet a part of you longed to curl into his warm and inviting arms just as you did when he came to visit you in the hospital.
He seemed to read it on your face as his next move was to pull you into a hug from your side, and you felt some of the tension in your shoulders collapse.
When his arms loosened, he told you he wanted to let you get some sleep, and he left you to settle into the room. You sat at the foot of the bed and just took in your new surroundings. Beside you was the bag of clothes and amenities Bucky had left you. There was some soap, similar plain clothes, and even some tampons. Of the few practical things, there was a plain black dress, black dress shoes, and some black stockings.
He’d bought you clothes fit for a funeral, and indeed, those were their intended purposes. Your heart started to sink all over again as you stared into the bag.
In a way, it was a small overstep, but it was incredibly helpful. There was no way you had enough strength to buy a dress for a funeral you didn’t even know was already planned, so you were thankful that it was taken care of. Right now, you only wanted to sleep, as Bucky had suggested. So, you undid the bedding, crawled into the comfort of the guest bed, and waited for a sad slumber to take you.
Your nap continued on into the night and became restless sleep. The black void was deep and heavily fogged by smoke and ash. You waved through it as a faint pair of blue lights seemed to lead you down an endless path.
The lights would often blink on and off as they disappeared further and further ahead of you, leaving you to choke on the clouds of smoke. There was no more air left to breathe, and your vision blurred as ash surrounded you.
You awoke, coughing and sputtering as the dark room came into view. The thumping of footsteps could be heard down the hall as they drew closer to your room until their source ran into your doorway. Bucky flicked the bedside lamp on before pulling you into his arms, petting your hair, and shushing away all the bad memories.
His embrace was warm and safe. It’s the only place to welcome you, and you don’t want it to leave you. So, he stayed beside you until you fell asleep again and didn’t leave until the morning came. He found you still sleeping on his arm, and he almost couldn’t let you go.
He knew you needed him now, and that's exactly how he wanted it to be. To be there, sleeping beside you and making the bad dreams go away, was more than he could have asked for. It was all going according to plan.
He made sure to take good care of you throughout the next day since you had been in the hospital. The news about your father’s upcoming funeral was difficult to hear from someone you still barely knew, but after finding the mourning clothes among your new and only possessions, it wasn’t a total shock. It would be in the next 5 days, and 5 days too soon, but Bucky was still there for you.
Your family hasn’t spoken to you since the accident, and each day that ticked by without any word from neither your family nor your friends made your heart sink lower and lower.
The day of the funeral finally came, and the only reason you were able to show up was due to Bucky’s invitation. You weren’t even invited to your own father's funeral, a stab that cut deeper and deeper each day as it drew closer.
You barely remember the drive there, too far into the pit of your own thoughts as the trees in the windows flew by. Yet Bucky was still there for you, one hand on the wheel and the other tightly wrapped around yours.
The event was somber and gut-wrenching as multiple people suddenly started to fawn over you after well over a week of no contact. Bucky helped fend many of them off and wave away their prying questions. If they wanted to know if you were okay, they could’ve visited you in the hospital.
Your mother didn’t even look at you during the entire service, keeping silent with an air of resentment.
You never wanted any of this to happen, and you certainly wouldn’t have ever wanted to lose your father in exchange for your own life. To know that your mother stood across the room at his funeral, blaming you for his death, was heartbreaking. You didn’t know how much you could take by the time it was your turn to view his casket.
Bucky was right by your side during the whole service, not giving a single person a chance to speak to you for anything more than a few pleasantries. That was until you left him to say a final goodbye to your father's casket by yourself. This gave an old family friend an opportunity to talk to you.
"Hey." An older man called your name and prompted you to turn towards him in the line. Dave was an old friend of your father's, and you and his daughters were practically raised together.
"How is everything?" He asked. It was weird seeing him in such a somber light. "Everything is being taken care of."
You simply nod, giving a weak “yes.”
"Getting back on your feet well enough, cause you know if you ever need anything, me and the missus wanna be there for ya."
"Thank you, but Bucky has been a big help since I left the hospital." You nodded in the younger man's direction as you spoke to Dave. He turned to see Bucky staring at the both of you with sharp eyes before clearing his throat and speaking again.
"I see. You know your mom has been worried sick; she’s been wondering why you haven’t called her."
The second he said that, your blood started to boil. The amount of heartache that woman gave you after dodging your calls made you sick to your stomach.
"Call her? I’ve been trying to call her since I was in the hospital. She hasn’t picked up the phone." You started to raise your voice a little, drawing unwanted attention to yourself. Just as you try to take a deep breath to calm down, Bucky crosses the room to place his warm hand on the small of your back and steady you.
"It’s gonna to be alright, doll." He turns and addresses the older man with, "Can you not hound her right now? She just lost her father."
Bucky was given a sour and untrusting look from the older man before he walked away. Bucky instead stayed by your side in the line, massaging circles into your shoulder with his thumb as he turned you back towards the casket so you could pay your final respects.
Service ended shortly after, and Bucky quickly corralled you towards the car and took you home after helping you into the vehicle.
You’d held your tears in as best as you could today, not wanting to give any of them the satisfaction of seeing you cry after they’d all abandoned you, but when the car pulled away and it was only Bucky and yourself, they started to spill out over your cheeks.
You never in your life thought your mother would treat you like this, and it made your stomach twist with growing guilt.
"Maybe it is my fault..that he’s gone."
Bucky was quick to stop you, wiping a tear from your cheek and giving you reassurance. "Don’t say that. None of this is your fault."
The car pulled to a stop at the shoulder of the road so he could better address your downward spiral.
"Never blame yourself for this! Everyone just needs time to cope, but none of us would have wanted you to die in that fire. Especially not your dad."
You felt as if you could throw yourself over the center console to bury your face in his chest like you had for the past week. He provided a dark and safe place, holding you tightly together when you started to break. But, your tears were soon halted by the abrupt feeling of his hand pressing against the top of your thigh.
It didn’t feel inappropriate at the time; it was only a little shocking and slightly heartwarming. In the moment, it felt as if he was anchoring you, yet you still held your breath as you felt his warm palm through the fabric of your stocking.
You wait a second or two before you place your hand over top of his whispering a sad "Thank you, Bucky."
He leans in to wipe a tear from your cheek with his thumb as he whispers back, "It's the least I could do. I want to be there for you, doll."
He leaned in so that his face was in line with yours, and he matched your gaze, pouring his blue eyes into you. You didn’t register the space between the two of you closing until the shock of lips pressing against yours shook you from your fear and pain. Your eyelids only dipped instead of closing all the way as he stole the air from your very lungs.
You’re somewhat startled and a little shaken, but after he pulled away with the sound of your lips slowly breaking apart, you didn’t stop him from stealing another and then another until you were lightheaded in his hands.
When he pulls away from you, your head is left to sway as you slump back into his seat. Another small tear pricks at the corner of your eye as you take in a sharp breath. The longer the ride, the more suffocating the car became, and oddly, the only tether you had that kept you from slipping into the flood of emotions was his hand still pressed to your thigh.
You had been vulnerable, and he took advantage of that, but at the time you found him too comforting to push his advances away.
The rest of the ride was quiet, and upon your return to his house, he let you scurry back to the guest room to bury yourself in the bed for a night of restless sleep. Smoke and fire plagued your dreams again that night. Bodiless hands reach towards you in the flames. Yet, they don’t save you; instead, they hold you down until the fire eats you.
You wake, screaming out into the dark room, to find actual hands trying to steady you in the bed. Bucky was there, trying to help wake you from your restless sleep.
"It’s ok! It’s ok. You're safe here." He started to carefully rock you back and forth once you stopped flailing your body. You curled into his hold, digging your nails into his soft T-shirt as you shakingly cried into his shoulder.
He laid you back into the bed, repeating the words "you’re safe here" as he pressed his lips to your damp forehead and weaved his fingers into your hair.
You nuzzled into his chest as you tried to catch your breath, and you could feel his arms tightening around your body.
He left a few lingering pecks from your hair to the top of your forehead, whispering, "I’ve got you, doll, just let me take care of you" as they migrated to your cheek. And it worked; it melted the tension in your body. That is, until his lips steal over to yours to lock them in another kiss. This time it was more of a shock than when it had happened in the car, and your eyes flew open as he weakly tried to push him off of you.
You had no strength left, both physically and emotionally. You end up letting him take advantage of you, making love to you in the night. His hands were the first to wander through your body, desperate for you to accept them.
His fingers pressed into the T-shirt you'd worn to bed in the absence of pajamas, pulling it upward to expose your silly skin to his hungry eyes and wanted hands.
Those same hands feel as if they are all over your body as that same reassuring voice grounds you.
"This is what you needed, doll." Let me help you. Let me put you back together." His sweet tone becomes low and rough as his teeth start to dig into your skin as he nips at your neck.
His fingers hooked onto the end of those plain cotton panties he’d bought you before dragging them over the side of your hip. You stop fighting, wanting instead to find that comforting part of him. So, as the uncomfortable cotton fabric is pulled from your hips, you lift them so he can easily drag them down your legs.
Soon all that covered you from him was pulled away, and he quickly followed suit before letting his fingers slip over your stomach and towards your pink folds to delve into your sensitive core.
He’s hard and hot as he presses his member to your thigh, guiding himself into your tight channel with a heavy, satisfied sigh. He’s gentle at first, caressing and softly kissing your skin as he drags his cock along your inner walls. But, soon his touch is heavier, digging into the soft fat of your thighs and grazing his teeth along your neck as he gradually pumped himself in and out of your open flower.
It’s enough to make your head ache and your vision fuzzy as he pulls you apart with his bare hands. His body had engulfed you, becoming the only thing you could breathe in for fear of suffocating without him.
You let yourself be engulfed by him, lulled by the deep blue of his eyes as you ran your fingers through his dark hair. You wanted the distraction; you wanted his warmth, but you didn’t know if you wanted this, and yet you couldn’t bring yourself to stop him from pulling the pleasure from your body.
You turned your head to bury it in his bare shoulder as cock stirred your core into an unanticipated frenzy, pushing a wail from your chest that came out muffled against his skin. He wasn’t nearly done yet, and it seemed to go on for the rest of the night as he twisted and snapped a tightened spring within your belly until he spilled into you with a heavy sigh he breathed through tightly closed teeth.
You slept better that night than you had any other, and it would go on to become a nightly ritual for the remainder of your time spent at his home. Your waking days felt haunted, but you feared that without his presence, you’d wilt beneath the weight life had left on your shoulders.
Everything seemed to fade away in the wake of Bucky’s increasingly large presence in your life.
Your family was the first to go, as all contact between you had been severed by an unseen hand. The second would be your job, as after many days away and being unable to reach you, they were forced to let you go.
At some point, Bucky decided that a move for the both of you was what was best. You don’t recall exactly when your lives became so entangled, but you didn’t fight the change, as it felt right to start over with someone that you felt cared for you.
You have such little pushback against all of this. The brief stay at his home, once meant to help you get back on your feet, turned into a permanent residence in his bedroom. It was bizarre to have so slowly and yet so abruptly turned into someone's domestic partner, as if that would be your new identity.
This facade would eventually fall when you helped unpack after a lengthy drive all the way to New York, where Bucky had gotten his new job. You found a small box tucked away with his clothes. Upon opening it, you found items that didn’t seem to belong to him.
Inside the small shoebox were photos and mementos from your old home that you thought had perished in the fire. Pictures of your family and childhood, your birth certificate, social security card, and ID. All of which were tucked away in Bucky’s personal effects.
You nearly battled down the stairs as you ran through the house.
"What is this?" You could barely speak as each word caught in the back of your throat.
He looked at the box in your arms but didn’t answer, instead ignoring the question to place a bowl on one of the shelves.
"Answer me, Bucky!" You forced it out as loud as you could to echo off the walls and windows.
"I think you already know what all of that is."
"But..why do you have it? I thought.."
"Thought what? They burned up? No, I made sure to recover a few personal items before the fire started."
You choked on the air and listened to him unfold a terrible tale. He’d never spoken to you this harshly before, and it made the hair stand up on your arms.
"Before it started? Did you burn down my house?"
"I did what had to be done so we could get closer to one another."
"MY FATHER DIED IN THAT FIRE!"
"Now that was unintentional." Or was it?
"Why did you keep these if you didn’t want to get caught?"
He just shrugged before leaning against the kitchen counter before answering. "It just seemed like it would be something our children could have after we’re gone."
"Our children?" You nearly choked on the very words, your stomach twisting with disgust and fear. You almost felt as if you could wretch at his feet from the sickness building in your belly. It’s a slap in the face to really see how far he plans to go and what he did to get here.
"What is wrong with you?" You bit out at him.
"I think it’s time to go to bed; clearly you're tired." He grabs at your wrist only to have you yank it away and growl out, "Don’t touch me!"
His eyes narrowed, and his smile fell, giving him a more dangerous demeanor. "What now, then?"
"Where do you think you’re going to run?" His voice was barely a shout, but it still stung to hear it because he was right. You had no bridges left to run to, and the realization made everything spill right out.
“You don’t have anyone anymore.” His voice was soft and yet menacing, as if he spoke to you like a little mouse stuck in his maze.
He still reaches for you to wipe your tears away, saying "But, you have me, and only me." His voice will be dipped in this sickly, sweet poison that he’s been feeding you for so long. "That’s all you ever have."
The less you knew the better it was to accept this. You’d re-hide the box and leave it as a false memory at the back of your mind. You wouldn’t ask about it, nor would you ask about all the numbers in your phone being wrong after finally checking your contacts more thoroughly. It was all too late.
You couldn’t bear starting over again.

Call me when you get home x
Your text still sits on Bucky’s lock screen, read but not opened, as he gets changed out of his work clothes.
It’s fair to say that the message intrigued him when he first read it half an hour ago, just before he left the firehouse. His legs sped up your building stairwell faster than normal, desperate to find out why you’re awaiting his call.
Knowing you would have said so if you were in immediate danger, Bucky sifts through the multitude of possibilities that await him on the other side of the ring tone; none of which ease the butterflies in his stomach.
He walks to his kitchen, phone in hand, to get a glass of orange juice. Pulling up your contact page, he presses ‘call’ and grabs the carton of juice from the fridge door.
You answer after just one ring, eager to hear his voice.
“Hey, Barnes!” God, Bucky loves your voice.
“Doll.” His voice is soft, tone rising at the end with curiosity. “You asked me to call, what’s up?”
The firefighter swoons at the adorable giggle you let out, the sound distant from the mic as though you’ve tried to hide it. “I was worried you didn’t see my text.” You admit.
Bucky pictures you biting your lip anxiously, an accurate prediction for your current state.
“What are you doing right now?”
Glancing down at the yet-to-be-filled glass in front of him, Bucky leans a hand against the kitchen island. “Just about to get a drink, what are-“
“Don’t!” You cut in. “Don’t get a drink, I need you to come over.”
“What, now? What’s wrong?”
“Nothings wrong, James. Just come knock, okay? I’ll see you in a minute!”
And with that, the call cuts off with a dull beep; Bucky brings the phone down from his ear and stares at it in confusion. You’re being weird, never having hung up on him like that before.
Alpine meows from above the fridge, drawing her owner’s attention away from the phone, only to tilt her head at him.
Even Alps is confused.
Deciding to just do what you told, Bucky slips his phone into the pocket of his dark jeans, returns the orange juice to the fridge and sets off for the front door. He finds himself checking over his appearance in the entry way mirror, eyes scanning over his outfit before he smooths out his hair.
Although he won’t admit it, Bucky’s spent a lot more time in front of that mirror lately; checking his collar isn’t twisted, his hair isn’t too messy and there’s nothing stuck in his teeth. The need to look good, to look good for you, hasn’t gone unnoticed by his colleagues.
He considers using the spare key you gave him and letting himself into your apartment but shakes the thought away.
She asked you to knock, Bucky. Not break in.
With one final nod in the mirror, Bucky leaves his apartment, stepping into the hallway he’s spent so many mornings and nights in with you.
Old jazz music greets his ears when he approaches your door, the soft melody sneaking through the cracks of the door frame. Bucky smiles to himself at the thought of you dancing in your kitchen, heart warming when he notices your humming.
Knocking thrice, the firefighter steps back and nervously stuffs his hands into his pockets. You always make him nervous, those darn butterflies stirring in his stomach whenever he’s about to see you. And when he does see you. Actually, they’re there even when he imagines seeing you.
He takes a breath when he hears you shuffling up to the door, but nothing could prepare him for the sight when it swings open.
Rusty red fabric flows from your neckline to the middle of your thighs, small flowers dotted over the slightly orange colour. Two thin straps perched on your shoulders leave plenty of skin on show as your usual sun-pendant necklace sits between the v-neck of your dress. Which, by the way, perfectly presents the soft swell of your breasts.
It takes everything Bucky has to not drool at his breathtaking neighbour, but it takes even more to not dive on you and finally taste those pink lips.
Your skin is ablaze beneath his eyes and you revel in his reaction, the exact response you wanted when you pulled on the dress two hours ago.
“We’re matching.” You grin, taking a moment to enjoy Bucky’s red henley.
“It’s almost like we planned it.” A chuckle escapes him, eyes trailing up from your thighs to meet yours.
“Speaking of plans,” You reach out to pull Bucky closer, tugging his forearms until he pulls his hands out of his pockets, “I have a surprise for you.”
Is it letting me look at you in that dress all evening? Your neighbour thinks - hopes - as you lead him into your apartment.
Closing the door behind him, you take his hand in yours once more to guide him to your little kitchen/diner area. If you weren’t looking ahead, you’d see Bucky’s cheeks flushed pink at your touch. Seeing your hand encompassed with his own will never fail to drive him crazy.
When he eventually looks up from your joined hands, he’s stunned to a halt. You turn back to him when you feel him plant his feet and your features twist into a nervous expression.
“I- Doll, what is all this?” The firefighters eyes are wide at your ‘surprise’.
Your small dining table is set up for two; cream place mats lay beneath charcoal gray pasta dishes with wine glasses sitting at their corners. There’s even a little vase with pink and yellow tulips in between the two spaces.
“Well, remember that time when you told me you haven’t had a proper home cooked meal in years?” You watch Bucky closely as you speak, waiting for some sign of approval.
“You mean this morning?” He turns to you in wonder, thinking back to your conversation as he gave you a lift to the cafe. “I don’t know what to say, doll.”
You roll back on your heels, hands scrunching your dress at your sides. “Is it okay? I know it’s a little cheesy and it’s last minute but I thought it would be a nice surprise for you after working all day. I mean, it’s not exactly at your home but it’s pretty cl-“
Bucky takes two long strides towards you and brings his hands to cup your cheeks; your words die on your tongue when he looks down at you with tender eyes.
“It’s perfect, Y/n.” He smiles, stroking his thumb over your cheek bone. “You could feed me Alpine’s food and i’d still bow at your feet, sweets.”
Now you’re the one blushing. You heart skips when Bucky’s eyes drop to your lips with hunger in his gaze.
“Always so good to me, aren’t ya?” His words tempt a whimper from deep within you, a submissive whine held back by the last of your restraint.
“Well-“
The oven beeps, its sharp tone darting between your bodies and making you step back from Bucky’s hold.
“Uhh” Your mind is all over the place as the firefighter watches you with amusement, “I- I should, I mean- the pasta must be-“
“Go, doll.” Bucky shakes his head laughing quietly.
Your dress sways as you spin away to the stove, stirring various pots and tidying up the counters. Your neighbour watches you in awe, unashamedly enjoying the view; you just look so goddamn sexy in that cute little dress while you cook for him. He wishes he could come home to this every night.
“You need a hand with anything, doll?” Bucky’s voice sounds from behind you.
“Actually, yeah!” You glance over your shoulder. “Come here.”
If you keep bossing him about, Bucky’s gonna struggle not to tear that sweet little sundress right off you.
Settling in at your side, Bucky cocks his head. “What d’ya need?”
You scoop some of the creamy tomato sauce onto a spoon and bring it to Bucky’s lips. “Try this for me.”
With bated breath, you watch his full lips wrap around the end of the spoon, his eyes bearing into yours as he drags the sauce into his mouth.
Bucky has no business looking as dirty as he does in this moment; you watch his adam’s apple bob as he swallows before his tongue juts out to catch a few missed drops. And just when you thought your panties would survive the sight, a moan ripples from his throat and you clench around nothing at the sound.
“Good?” You murmur, hoping he doesn’t notice when you cross your legs.
He notices.
“Delicious,” Bucky takes the spoon from your hand and stretches across you to place it back in the pan, his right hand brushing against the small of your back, “you did great, sweets.”
Fuck. Me.
You regather your composure and ask Bucky to get the wine from the fridge. He pours you both a glass, setting them back on the dining table gently before returning the bottle to its home.
“Hey, could you bring the bowls over, please?” You call over your shoulder.
You plate up the sauce coated pasta while Bucky places the dirty pans in the sink, both working around each other like a fine tuned machine.
Before you can do it yourself, Bucky is picking up the bowls and laying them on the place mats, winking at you as he does so. He pulls your chair out for you, nodding for you to join him.
“For you, Madame.” He jokes, allowing you to sit down while tucking you in.
You watch him round the table and take his own seat. “And they say chivalry is dead.”
Bucky grins at you. The orange glow of sunset shines through your windows, catching your features with grace. Your eyes shine beneath the light and Bucky can’t help but find you angelic.
“You’re beautiful, doll. I don’t know if I said that earlier but, god, you look stunning tonight.”
Dropping your head, you play with the hem of your dress shyly. Your hair falls into your face, forcing you to push it behind your ears, though Bucky wishes he was close enough to do it himself.
With rose tinted cheeks, you look up at Bucky through your lashes. “You say that to all your neighbours, Barnes?” You raise a brow with your teasing voice.
Bucky throws his head back and laughs heartily, a sound you’ve come to adore.
“Only the ones who cook for me.” He winks.
“Doesn’t Ms Scott bring you pies every couple weeks?”
“And I tell her she looks ravishing every time.”
You giggle and tell Bucky to dig in, though you could happily sit and talk all night. While you both stop every now and then for a forkful of food, conversation bounces between you as it always does.
Tonight isn’t much different to a typical evening with the firefighter next door; usually you share some snacks and beers, cozying up on the couch as you watch tv. It’s become ritual for you to send Bucky a video of you playing the piano each evening, his phone playing the video on loop as he sleeps. It’s strange, but the music creeps into his dreams and keeps them peaceful, keeps him away from that burning building.
It’s been a few weeks since the night he was sent home early. Both you and Bucky felt a shift that night; waking up in his arms left you craving more, though you’ve yet to tell him as much. You left him sleeping peacefully that morning when you left for work with only a couple hours of sleep under your belt.
Bucky hated waking up to find the other side of his bed empty, no longer feeling your heat. The note you left him eased the disappointment slightly, your neat handwriting promising to come back in your breaks. Neither of you have addressed how right it felt to sleep beside each other that night, despite spending all of your free time together with unspoken words hanging over you.
Instead, you dance around each other like two ghosts doomed to never touch. The bond between you is stronger than any you’ve ever had, the magnetic lure undeniable for you both.
Your glasses have been emptied and refilled twice now - dinner long since been finished - and you’re starting to feel the buzz; those butterflies in your stomach have turned into a swarm of confidence, your brain taking a backseat from its usual overthinking.
“You expect me to believe that you broke down the door before Sam could? The same guy who beat you at your physical a few weeks back?” You tease the brunette, a challenging brow raised at his rather unimpressed face.
“What are you trying to say there, doll?”
Bucky’s jaw clenches when you tilt your head slightly, eyes shining with amusement beneath the exposed hanging light bulbs.
“Nothing to worry your cute little head about.” You watch Bucky relax into his chair slightly as you reach for your glass with a smirk. “Just that I doubt Sam has any difficulty kicking a door down, not with the way he’s built.”
The scoff to end all scoffs ripples from your neighbours throat; his bright blue orbs glare into you and his features twist into a scowl. Oh if looks could kill…
Bucky’s tone is flat, “Didn’t know you were such an admirer of Wilson’s build, Y/n.”
The lack of a pet name sends your confidence wavering, but not enough to keep you from having a little fun.
“Well, you know,” You bring the glass to your lips, “he’s hardly difficult to miss.”
Watching the deep ruby liquid pass over your lips, Bucky fights to hide the fury that’s flooding his veins, forced to look away from your smug grin.
He knows, he knows, that you’re lying through your teeth, trying to get a rise out of his usually impenetrable facade, and yet he can’t help but feel jealous.
Bucky’s painfully aware that he has no right to feel so possessive, not when he lays no claim to you. But the twist of his stomach is proof that he doesn’t much care.
“Maybe I should just give you his number and you can cook him a meal next time.” Bucky grumbles.
“Oh, that’s alright, I already have his number.”
You’ve never seen Bucky’s head snap up as quickly as it just did, his gaze pinning you to your spot.
“You what?”
Gently, you place your glass back on the table. “Yeah, Steve gave him my number last week so he could get in touch.”
The fire in those blue eyes burns brighter with each word, his body so still that his chest is barely moving when he breathes. In fact, you’re not even sure if he is breathing. Hell, he’s not even sure if he’s breathing.
“Is that right?” Bucky’s gruff voice is laced with possessiveness, the low tone travelling straight to your panties till you swear you feel yourself throb. You wonder briefly if you have a jealousy kink and the sweet arousal dripping from your cunt only confirms your suspicions.
“Mhm.” You hum in response, “In fact, i’m going out for coffee with him next week.”
“Huh.”
Bucky’s chair screeches against the hardwood floor as he pushes himself back. You follow his movements with amused eyes when he stands up and grabs your plates before storming to the kitchen. You twist in your chair, watching him place the dishes in the sink and flick on the tap.
“James, what are you doing?” You ask.
“What does it look like i’m doing?” Oh he’s grumpy, grumpy.
Bucky’s shoulders are tense beneath his tight henley, his sleeves now rolled up as he starts scrubbing at the plates. It’s quiet while he concentrates on his work, only accompanied by the music still flowing from your speaker.
From the corner of his eye, the firefighter sees you rise from your chair, ears honed in on the sound of your feet pattering towards him.
It’s now hard for Bucky to focus on anything but your breath on his neck, goosebumps littered across his skin like a rash. You stand right behind him, tracing your fingers up from the small of his back; Bucky’s muscles tense momentarily before melting at your touch, just like always.
“Ask me why i’m seeing Sam next week.” You order, hands still roaming the taut fabric on Bucky’s back. The command makes him pause and clench his eyes shut. Why are you making him talk about this when it’s tearing him apart?
The brunette turns in your hold but you don’t release him, instead settling your hands on his waist.
“Why are you seeing him, doll?” Bucky sounds despondent, brows furrowed in confusion as he looks down at you.
“He asked me to teach his nephews to play the piano, Buck. I’m meeting him and the boys on Wednesday, Sarah too.”
A shocked ‘What’ tumbles from his lips as the information sinks in, his frown slowly falling away as he processes your words.
“Yeah…” You grin, though it’s more like a smirk, content with yourself proving he was jealous.
In a desperate attempt to save his ego, Bucky rolls his eyes playfully. “I knew you weren’t really attracted to that dumbass.”
You scoff and pat his chest lightly. “Sure you did, Barnes. Now scoot, you wash ‘em, i’ll dry ‘em.”
With his hands on his hips, he stays still as you nudge your way to his side, stretching to the window sill where your dish towels lay. Bucky’s never been in this position before, it’s always him who’s teasing you; this is new territory for him and it irks him that you riled him up so easily.
Once he shakes his head clear, the firefighter returns to face the sink and starts washing the dishes again. You wait patiently while he works, humming along to whichever song is playing.
“You like the old stuff, huh doll?” Bucky grins warmly at the slight sway of your hips, your radiance beaming like a lantern.
You giggle sheepishly and bite your lip, unknowingly sending Bucky spiralling. “I thought it was fitting for tonight, really leaning into the whole ‘housewife’ role.”
He raises a brow, “Does that make me your doting husband then, sweets?”
Realising what you said, your cheeks heat up instantly and your eyes widen. You attempt to backtrack but your words stumble over one another as though you’re a little school girl.
Bucky, however, is basking in the familiarity of control; your rosy cheeks never fail to bring a smile to his face, and boy is he beaming right now.
“I meant- It’s- You know what I meant, James.” You shoot daggers at him, though the idea of being married to your neighbour sends your heart into overdrive.
That swoon-worthy laugh greets your ears with haste, Bucky’s eyes crinkled at the corners as his chest reverberates with its force. It’s impossible to bite back the grin that’s fighting its way onto your lips.
Small tendrils of chestnut hair tumble from behind his ears, begging to be pushed back, but the buzz from the wine has dulled and you can’t find the confidence to do it, no matter how much Bucky’s eyes are pleading you to.
“You know, it’s sweet of you to teach the boys how to play.” He looks at you in adoration, the image of you spending time with Sam’s nephews triggering a warmth to spread in his chest.
A breathy laugh escapes you as your gaze falls to the kitchen counter. You blush at the compliment and slowly start drying the dishes again.
“Do you spend much time with them?” You ask with a brief glance his way.
Bucky shrugs, “Yeah, Sarah is always throwing barbecues for the squad. They’re good kids, and I bet they’ll love you!”
“Oh God, I hope so. I’ve never taught before and i’m scared they’ll hate me and i’ll destroy their dreams and-” You ramble away without noticing the frown tugging at your neighbours brows.
“Teach me.”
Huh?
“What?” You freeze.
“You said you’ve never taught before,” Bucky steps closer to you, his cologne swarming around you like a warm hug, “so practise on me. Teach me something.”
You almost laugh at his words, mind immediately jumping to the conclusion that he’s joking. But Bucky doesn’t move, his blue eyes study your own, body so still that you fail to conjure a laugh. He’s not joking.
Hesitation is written across your features, drawing a single shake of Bucky’s head. “Come on, sweets. Please? For me?” He pleads.
“Okay.”
It’s scary how quickly you succumb to Bucky’s wishes; you fear you’d do awful things if only he asked and you’d even do it with a smile. You’re so doomed.
With a triumphant grin, Bucky plucks the dish cloth and plate from your grasp and carefully places them on the sink’s edge, before taking your hand in his and guiding you to your piano.
Nerves prickling beneath your skin, you trail behind him and silently revel in his touch. It’s hard to not stare at his perfect body as you stumble around furniture, the sharp muscles of his shoulders rippling as he tugs you with him. Flicking off the speaker on the way, you fall onto the small piano stool beside Bucky, and with such little room, your left thigh is pressed up against his. The solid curve of his muscles prod into your flesh and yet despite the fluttering it causes in your stomach, you’re far more focused on his hands.
From the bulge of his toned biceps to the trail of prominent veins in his forearms, your eyes drag down Bucky’s arms till you pause at the sight of his large hands. They lay spread across the span of his thighs, his right pinky finger mere atoms away from your exposed skin where your dress has ridden up. You find yourself craving the sparks that alight with his touch, so you adjust your position to make sure your leg brushes against his hand.
It certainly hasn’t gone amiss to the firefighter that you’ve taken a liking to his hands. Sure, he’s caught you staring at them before, but the hunger in your gaze right now is greater than ever.
The corner of Bucky’s lip turns up into a smirk as he reaches for your hands once more, lifting them to rest on the ivory keys of your piano.
“Wanna hear you play me something before you give me a lesson.” He admits, his words more of a demand than a question.
When you fail to respond, still caught up in scanning the crevices of his calloused hands, Bucky nudges your shoulder.
You shake your head with a dazed frown, “Huh?”
A playful chuckle falls from his pink lips, “I said play me something, sweets, before you start teachin’ me.”
You giggle sheepishly, sighing an ‘Oh’ before you gather your thoughts. Bucky returns his hands to his lap - a movement you struggle to ignore - giving you free rein of the instrument.
Running through some songs you could teach him, you settle for one of your favourites, or more accurately, one of Bucky’s favourites. The cool surface of the keys is harsh beneath your fingertips, a stark contrast to the Bucky-induced-heat flushing through your veins, hands stretching into place as you prepare the opening chords.
Rhythmic tones swarm around the two of you as you begin playing, masterfully dancing across the keys like it’s a second language. Your graceful motions always bring Bucky to a halt as you entrap him in your art.
He recognises the song straight away, lips turning up at the sweet melody. You didn’t even have to ask to know what he wanted to hear, you just knew. Bucky’s head feels light at the sight before him. A knowing grin has settled on your soft lips, your body ever so lightly swaying to the music, clearly getting lost the sounds.
It’s impossible not to feel the adoring stare of your neighbour, no matter how hard you try to ignore it. Warmth is pooling in the depths of your heart where it feels like you’re bleeding out, your love for Bucky forcing out the blood till the only thing circulating through your veins is him. No longer able to cope with the feelings swarming within you, your fingers abruptly stop mid song before you turn to look up at the firefighter.
“Okay, your go.” You state, but when Bucky raises a bemused brow your way, you continue to instruct him. “Come on. You’re gonna do the left hand, I’ll do the right.”
“Yes Ma’am!” Bucky chimes with a mock salute, earning him a glare.
It takes a few tries to move his fingers into the correct positions, both because he’s apparently wholeheartedly incapable of doing what you say but also because you may or may not zone out every time the veins of his hands stick out as he moves. But it’s still entirely his fault though. Entirely. ‘Maybe like 98% his fault. That’s seems fair.’ You think.
“There you go!” You cheer when the firefighter successfully plays the right notes in tandem.
“Would you look at that, not so useless after all.” Bucky winks at you and you blush lightly.
Glancing at him hopefully, you ask him to play the first chord you taught him.
“Oh, umm-“ He stutters, fingers flailing about and pressing random keys in search of the right pattern.
“Here, let me…” You chuckle sweetly at how utterly lost he looks and move to help him.
Leaning forward, you drag Bucky’s fingers over the ridges of ivorite, slowly placing them on the correct keys. You feel his lust-filled eyes trained on your face while you work, though it’s getting harder and harder to focus under his stare.
A frown tugs at your brows when your mind goes blank as to where Bucky needs to put his left hand, his still-wandering gaze burning into you and spreading to your cunt faster than you care to admit.
Of course, Bucky notices your breath quickening, chest stumbling up and down with shaky pants. His proximity is intoxicating and the will to fight it is slowly slipping past you, fingers itching to trace up Bucky’s thick arms to his neck so you can finally pull his lips to yours.
Bucky reads every inch of your skin like he’s studying for an exam. From the clench of your jaw to your eyes fluttering shut, he knows that he’s winning this tussle for control.
“Bucky…” You breathe, the wavering sigh rolling from your tongue like a stray secret.
“Yes, doll?” Bucky smirks with glinting eyes and you bite back a whimper.
Opening your eyes, you keep them trained on where yours rest on his. “I can’t focus with you looking at me like that.”
Bucky knows exactly what you mean but he can’t help but toy with you. “Like what?” He cocks his head with faux innocence that fools no one.
You turn to look up at the firefighter, eyes meeting his half lidded ones, the blue of his eyes barely visible behind his lust-blown pupils but the blue you can see is so impossible dark that you wonder if they were ever light in the first place.
Taking a breath, you wet your lips so briefly that Bucky nearly misses it. Nearly. “Like you want to kiss me.” You say, barely above a whisper.
“Oh,” Bucky sighs, leaning in closer, “I want to do much more than that.”
Your body is alight with need. Craving his touch, a breach of the barrier between you, you practically whine your reply. “Then why are you just staring?”
“Well, I wanna remember you like this; sweet, angelic, so perfect in your little sundress.“
With the back of his hand, Bucky nudges the hem of your dress higher till his whole hand is spread against your thigh. You quash the aching desire to glance at where your bodies meet and lock your eyes on Bucky’s, whose lips are turned into a knowing smirk.
“Gotta savour it while I can.” He says as he pushes his palm further to your inner thigh, his pinky finger mere inches from your heat.
“Why?” You ask, heart racing.
It dawns on you that you may actually pass out when the firefighter leans in close to you, nose pushing your hair aside to expose the soft skin of your neck which now sits defenceless to his advances. The heat of his breath is electrifying, lips nearing your pulse point eagerly.
Bucky’s lips ghost over your skin as he explains, “Cause once I’ve had my way with you, you’re gonna be a hot fucking mess, sweets.”
A breathy moan tumbles from the depths of you chest at the crude insinuations of his words; your eyes flutter shut, an unintentional reaction that you’re grateful for as it hides the way your pupils roll to the back of your head.
Through the dark span of your eyelids, you picture exactly how Bucky will make you a hot fucking mess. Spread legs with his tongue delving through your folds, back arched as he pounds into your pussy with vigour, his hands guiding your hips back to meet his as he fucks you from behind. The images bear too much for you yet you can’t stop picturing the salacious scenes, not when your neighbour is pressing open-mouthed kisses to the side of your neck.
“James…” You sigh, voice carrying the weight of a thousand pleas.
“Yeah? Is that what you want?”
Nodding your head desperately, you whine, unable to form any words beneath his sinful tongue.
“Words, doll.” Bucky says, lips hovering over your ear. He’s struggling to hold back but can’t let himself touch you the way he wants to until he hears you spell it out for him.
Turning your head slowly, you peer at Bucky with half-lidded eyes and a slack-jaw. “I want you, James. Please.”
That’s all it takes to disintegrate the final remnants of the firefighter’s self-control before his full lips meet your own with a hunger that’s been brewing for months.
Bucky’s lips glide across yours, slotting between your own so easily it’s got you believing this is not your first kiss. It’s soft and sweet but so goddamn sensual that you can’t help but moan into his mouth, the now open gap giving him the perfect chance to slide his tongue inside.
You bring your hands up Bucky’s body and rest them on his neck, fingers tentatively feeding through the hair at the nape of his neck while you jostle for control of the kiss.
Forced to pull back for breath, you take a peek only to find those strikingly blue eyes already on yours.
“Fuck, doll,” Bucky whispers, “you don’t know how long I’ve been waitin’ for this.”
“Probably not as long as I have.” You scoff.
“Then let me make up for lost time.”
“Wait, what do y-“
Within moments, Bucky is lifting your legs over the bench and is knelt between them, his large hands teasing the hem of your dress as he keeps your thighs spread apart.
Your mouth is agape with surprise while you grab onto the piano behind you for stability, a mixture of nerves and anticipation coursing through your veins. And as if he can read your anxious thoughts, Bucky looks up at you with the most sincere expression across his soft features.
“Do you want me to stop?” He asks, despite the deep desire shining in his eyes. He wants you more than anything, but he needs to know you want him too.
It’s an easy answer and you’re shaking your head faster than you care to admit, but the memory of Bucky’s prior words flash through your mind and you still just as quick.
“No.”
Watching intently as he runs a hand from your ankle up to your knee, the firefighter rolls his bottom lip between his teeth when your breath hitches.
“Then promise me you’ll tell me if that changes?” Bucky asks.
You reach down and run your fingers through his chestnut locks, tucking the few loose strands behind his ear.
“I promise.”
“You’re gonna be the death of me, sweets.”
A hearty laugh reverberates through you, but you’re quickly silenced by Bucky’s lips on your inner thigh, eyes fluttering shut at the feeling. He kisses his way up to your heat, slowly pushing your dress higher and higher till the only thing between you and his mouth is the crimson lace panties covering your mound.
A sound you can only describe as a growl ripples through the room and you glance down at your neighbour to find him practically drooling at the sight of you. But then his eyes are on yours, his hungry, half-lidded eyes, and he’s tracing a finger over your clothed slit. Your breathing becomes laboured at his touch, your body, your mind, all of you at his mercy.
“Bucky, please…”
“Ah ah ah-“ The firefighter tuts, “-since when do you call me Bucky?”
You frown, back arching slightly in search of some friction on your core, too aroused to process his words properly.
“Look at me, Y/n.”
The stern nature of his tone lures your eyes to his once more. “What?” You ask, confused.
“I haven’t spent months goin’ crazy listening to you use my name only to have you call me Bucky when I’m finally between your legs.”
The throb of your pussy spurs you on and you tilt your head teasingly. “Touch me, James.” You say, and he obeys.
Bucky glides his hands up to your hips and drags your panties lower and lower, his lips chasing the lace till there’s no where left to kiss but your slick folds.
He hovers over your heat with bated breath before forcing himself to close his eyes and ask if you’re still okay with this.
“More than okay, James.” You answer truthfully.
“Good, cause I’m fucking starvin’.”
You feel his mouth on your pussy before you’ve even processed his words, tongue delving between your folds like he really is starving and you didn’t just feed him the best dinner he’s had in years. Though something tells him that title is about to be beaten the second you cum all over his face.
Your mouth curves into an ‘o’, the most pornographic of moans escaping you at the sinful sounds of Bucky’s mouth on your cunt. Drowning in increasingly intense waves of pleasure, your senses are dialled up to the max; with every flick of his tongue and suck on your clit, you find yourself falling deeper in your arousal. It becomes impossible to listen to anything Bucky’s telling you.
“Y’taste so sweet, doll.”
“Doing so good for me, aren’t ya? My good girl.”
“Let me hear you, doll, need to hear how good you feel.”
Whether it’s praises or orders, there’s no chance in hell of you understanding a word that falls from his lips, though Bucky doesn’t mind. The clench of your soft thighs around his head tells him all he needs to know - that even if your heads not fulling comprehending him, your body is. And the sheer amount of slick glistening across your cunt is enough for him to know that you’re ready for more.
The sensation of Bucky’s finger tracing along your pussy lips sends your eyes rolling to the back of your head and your hips lifting off the stool.
“James- oh fuck-“
Words die on your tongue when Bucky eases a finger inside you. White hot pleasure builds at your core, burning the last remnants of your self control, its embers coaxing a near-scream out of you.
“Fuck, that’s it, sweets. That’s- shit you’re so tight, pussy’s squeezing me and it’s just one finger.”
You mewl and squirm beneath him.
“How you gonna handle two of ‘em, doll?”
Bucky’s mesmerised at the sight of his finger gliding in and out of you, drenched in your sweet juices, too beautiful of a sight for him to give up by eating you out. But when you groan at the suggestion of two fingers, he drags his gaze upwards and is greeted with a view that’s evening better.
You, draped against the piano, head tilted back and brows drawn together while uneven sighs tumble from your swollen lips. God, you look heavenly, Bucky thinks. He doesn’t realise he’s said it out loud, but it makes little difference seeing as you’re rather preoccupied with the thought of Bucky fucking another finger inside you.
“James?” You call, reaching down to cover your left hand around the one at your sex, the other tugging on his hair.
“Yeah? Are you alright? Do you want me to stop?” He panics, thinking you’ve grabbed his hand to stop him.
Instead, you look him in the eye and say “Are you gunna fuck another finger inside of me or what?”
An awe-inspired grin spreads across Bucky’s face at your question. He keeps his blue orbs on yours while he presses a kiss to your clit and pushes himself higher till he’s inches from your face.
He rests a hand against the piano, caging you in and says, “Anything for my girl.” before a second digit joins his first.
The stretch knocks the wind out of your chest but Bucky hardly gives you any time to adjust, his fingers pumping in and out of you even faster than before. His palm slaps against your bundle of nerves with every thrust, the force riding to your chest where your tits bounce in rhythm.
“So damn beautiful…” The firefighter says.
You look up at him through your lashes and pull his lips to yours, tasting yourself on his tongue. With clashing teeth, the wet slapping sounds only feeds into the moment and Bucky’s suddenly very aware of the tightness in his jeans.
With each passing second, the cord in your stomach is getting so close to snapping that your mouth isn’t even moving against Bucky’s anymore.
“Fuck, James, I’m- I-“
“Shh, I know.” He presses a kiss to your forehead. “You gonna cum all over my fingers, doll? Gonna let me see you fall apart?”
You nod feverishly.
“Good girl, now let go for me.”
That’s all it takes for the damn to break loose and the fiercest orgasm of your life to rack through your body. It reaches every part of you, all the cracks and crevices you never thought could be touched, yet here you are, feeling every inch of yourself set on fire.
“That’s it, doll, that’s it.” Bucky comforts you while you lay victim to the aftershocks of his work, slowing the thrust of his fingers till your breathing evens and he moves to gently circling your sensitive clit.
“Holy shit…” You sigh, a satisfied and totally fucked-out grin playing across your lips.
Noticing how your hazy your eyes still are, Bucky smiles to himself while pressing loving kisses on your forehead.
“You did real good for me, sweetheart.” He listens to you hum beneath him as he moves to kiss your temple. “Y’look so pretty when you cum, you know that? Even prettier than I imagined.”
You twist in your seat to face your neighbour. “You’ve imagined this too?”
“Every night, doll.”
“Huh…”
Though Bucky’s eyes remain fixed on yours, it’s obvious that his mind has slipped away; he’s now clouded by memories of his x-rated dreams, ones that have ended with him pumping his embarrassingly hard length into his fist one too many times, and his cock twitches in his ever-tightening pants. You notice the movement at his crotch and, emboldened by his confession and the best orgasm you’ve ever had, you decide to take back some control.
“What have you pictured doing to me, James?” Your tone is so sweet, so innocent, that it takes a moment for your words to register in his brain. But when it does, boy, does a fresh wave of blood rush to his cock.
“You sure you wanna know? Cuz it ain’t all sweet and innocent.” He warns.
You say nothing and let your actions do all the talking; you slide a hand down to meet his left, the one still nestled between your sticky thighs, and tug it away from your cunt. With your eyes locked on his, you raise Bucky’s cum coated fingers to your mouth, slowly wrapping your lips around them and sucking your sweetness away. Making sure to give the firefighter a show, you swirl your tongue around his fingers before taking them as deep as you can, a knowing look in your eyes when you notice Bucky clenching his jaw.
After releasing his fingers from your swollen red lips, you press a kiss to the palm of his hand. “Tell me.”
What you can only describe as a growl rises from the back of Bucky’s throat and before you know it, you’re being carried to your bedroom, legs bound tightly around his waist while your arms wrap loosely around his neck.
He sits down on the edge of the bed; hands resting on your hips and edging lower to your ass, his fingers grip the supple flesh to keep you in place.
His force on your hips is pushing you down on his ample bulge, sparking a flash of pleasure straight up your spine that escapes you with a moan. Bucky chuckles softly with a sinful grin as you tilt your head back at the feeling.
“You wanna know what I’ve imagined us doing, doll?” The firefighter grabs your chin to bring your attention back to him. He runs the pad of his thumb over your bottom lip, tugging on it and letting it bounce back into place.
“I’ve pictured us just like this.” He drops his hand to your neck, tracing the curve of your collar bone till it meets the strap of your sundress. “You, naked and beautiful as ever, riding my cock like I know you can.”
You gasp lightly when he tugs your strap till it’s tumbling off your shoulder.
“And you’re telling me just how full you are, how stretched your little pussy is around me, choking my cock like a damn vice.”
Bucky’s filthy words send your hips into motion without warning; you grind your bare cunt over his crotch, the tent in his pants settling between your slick folds till his shaft is enveloped with your warmth.
“Does that sound good, doll? To have my cock buried inside you when you bounce on it? Fuck, I bet your cunt is dripping for me again,”
“It never stopped, James.” You whimper, your sensitive clit sending jolts up your frame as Bucky guides your hips over his.
“That’s right, you’re never gonna use anything else to cum ever again. You got me now, doll. I’m all you need. Me, my cock, I’m gonna ruin everyone else for you.”
You don’t even notice that Bucky’s hands are on the zip at your back, slowly pulling it down till the fabric are your chest goes slack, and with the straps already draped over your shoulders, the flowing material cascades around you, tumbling to your hips and leaving you defenseless to Bucky’s insatiable blue eyes.
“Fuck me, sweets, you’re- god- you’re perfect.” He leans in and kisses your collarbone. “So,” kiss, “So,” kiss, “perfect.”
Your eyes flutter shut, lost in the feeling of his touch, and Bucky smirks when he sees you. He teases a hand up your soft skin till it sits just beneath your tit, daring to reach up and play with you in the ways he’s always dreamt of.
“Is this okay?” He asks, earning an even more passionate grind of your hips as you push your chest closer to his open mouth.
He chuckles, “Needy, aren’t ya, sweets?”
You whine.
“Hmm, lucky for you, this is exactly what I imagined doing to you, what I’ve dreamt of for months…”
His lips wrap around your hardened nipple with haste, the warmth of his mouth a welcome sensation. He sucks at the sensitive nub, this tongue reaching out to soothe you afterwards. You throw your head back and moan loudly.
The sound of bucky loudly licking and sucking on your tits is driving you crazy, to the point where your hips are stuttering over his, practically drowning in the feeling till you have no control over your movements.
“God, I love your tits. Wanna act out every dream I’ve ever had of you. Fucking your tits, your throat, your cunt, anywhere you’ll let me, doll, please. I’ve needed you for so long.”
You blush at the word love, surpressing the hope that is stirring at the possibility that your tits aren’t the only thing he loves. Has he really wanted this as long as me? You wonder, picturing everything he just revealed he’s been wanting.
“M’So fuckin’ hard for you sweetheart, I know you can feel me. Dick’s throbbing, doll, it’s s’hard it hurts.”
You pull at his hair so he’s looking up at you again and capture his lips in yours.
“I wanna see you, Bucky…”
He groans and reaches for the hem of his shirt which he waists no time in tearing off. Your chest rises and falls heavier than before, eyes raking his physique just like you had that night he was leaving the shower at his place.
You trail a finger down his abs till it brushes the button of his jeans teasingly.
“All of you, James.” You look pointedly at his crotch. “May I?” You ask and when he nods, you climb off his lap and sink between his legs on the floor, you dress tumbling to the ground immediately.
Bucky’s abs tense as you work to undo the button, your hands tiny in comparison to his body. Next, you work the zipper up and over the bulge of his cock, the teeth desperate to come apart after being so constricted for so long. The two sides of denim snap away from the tent of his boxers, perfectly presenting where the firefighter so badly needs your touch.
He helps you kick off his jeans till the only thing between you is his boxers. You trace a finger up and down his shaft through the cotton, enjoying the sticky patch of pre cum leaking through the top.
“Have you ever imagined me sucking your cock, James?” You ask with half lidded eyes before kissing his covered shaft. “Cause I have.”
Bucky whimpers - whimpers - at your words, his hips snapping up to your face uncontrollably.
You begin to drag down his boxers, trailing kisses down down down, your lips greeting his tip when his cock flicks up against them before your eyes even get chance to glance at him.
Your eyes flutter shut at the salty taste on your lips, revelling in the breathy moans from your neighbour.
“Fuck- pl-please honey, I need your- argh- mouth around me!”
You make eye contact with him from your place on the floor and ask if he’s sure.
“More than anything.”
And with that, you take his thick length into your mouth, lips sealing around his angry pink cock head briefly when your trace your tongue over his slit, before gliding lower down his cock.
You take as much of him as you can, but you need time to warm up having never taken a cock as large as his before.
“You’re so big, baby.” You say as you pull off his shaft with a pop, “Biggest I’ve ever had in my mouth.”
A frustrated groan arises from the firefighter and you feel his hand on the back of your head, gently pushing you to his dick once more.
“Suck my cock, doll, just like we’ve both imagined, nice and deep, please.”
You take the base of his cock in your hands and guide his tip back to your lips.
“Atta girl,” Bucky encourages as you take him deeper and deeper.
He feels you relaxing your throat to take more of him and his balls clench at the feeling.
“Argh fuck, fuck, fuck. Good girl, oh my god, yes!”
His praises and curses cheer you on and you manage as much of him as you can, only an inch or so remaining that’s simply too thick to fit in your mouth. Lord knows how he’ll fit in your pussy, but you’re sure he’ll figure it out.
You bob your head on his length over and over till you’re in desperate need of air. You let your hands work your spit and his precum up and down his hard cock while you catch your breath and watch his beautiful face contort into one of extreme pleasure.
Your chest fills with pride at Bucky’s facial expressions; making him feel good is somehow more rewarding than anything you’ve done in your life and you find yourself content at the thought of spending the rest of your days pleasing him.
Bucky is oblivious to the gratified smile toying your lips and wholly unprepared for your next movement.
“Oh god- oh fuck, doll-” He groans, his breathing staggered and eyes clenched shut when you take his balls in your mouth, the skin sloppily wet from your work on his cock, and now enjoying the warmth of your mouth.
“Oh honey, do that again, felt so go- argh!” He’s interrupted by you tending to his sack once more, your tongue swirling around them and lightly sucking.
You moan around his pretty, swollen balls, the vibrations drawing a sigh of pleasure from your neighbour. The trimmed hair at the base of Bucky’s member is tickling your nose while you fight to taste every part of him.
With a final sharp suck, you release his balls with a small plop, plant a wet kiss on each and flatten you tongue to lick a bold stripe up his length. The tip of your muscle presses into the vein on the underside of his dick and Bucky thrusts upward, his hips bucking as he desperately searches for more.
As you ready yourself to glide his cock down your throat once more, you feel Bucky’s hand on your cheek, pulling you off him.
“What’s wrong? Did I do something?” You ask with a concerned frown, nervous that you’ve done something wrong to have Bucky stopping you. You wrap your hand around his forearm, the one outstretched to hold your hair, while the other remains enclosed around his cock.
“Nothin’ bad, sweets, it’s just that- fuck-“
You absentmindedly stroke your thumb over his girth, a motion you intend to be comforting but in reality, it just makes him throb even harder in your hands.
“-I’m not gonna last much longer if you keep using your pretty mouth like that.”
“And that’s a problem because…?”
He laughs lightly and tucks your hair behind your ear. “Cause as hot as you’d look swallowing my load, I’d much rather cum inside that sweet pussy for our first time.”
You roll your bottom lip between your teeth before pecking a doting kiss to his forearm and letting Bucky pull you to your feet. His eyes follow yours till he’s looking up at you from his seated position, his hands falling to your hips with an awestruck face.
“What the hell did I do to deserve you?” His voice is barely above a whisper. You blush crimson.
“Get on the bed, doll.” He orders. “Lay on your back.”
You do as he says and once you’ve settled, he crawls on top of you. It’s quiet for a moment as Bucky stares lovingly down at you, burning the image into his memory to remind him he has everything he needs.
“I should have found the guts to do this months ago…” You murmur, pushing the fallen tendrils of chestnut hair behind his ear. He looks so goddamn perfect; the golden glow filtering through your window catching every feature you’ve spent so long dreaming about, and now he’s here, really here, and you can’t help but stroke his cheek with revere.
“We have now, doll. That’s enough for me.” Bucky whispers. “Are you comfortable?”
You nod, truthfully, both in terms of your position but also for what’s coming. But then his elbows bend out and he’s lowering himself onto you.
“How about now?”
There’s a gleam in his eye and a playful smirk on his lips as he watches your chest heave, your body taking more of his weight now.
“No!” You giggle.
“No? Is this better?” Bucky teases, briefly laying his whole weight over you until you paw at his shoulders to push him off.
“James! You’re squishing me!”
The melody of your carefree laughter has Bucky melting and he pushes himself up onto his hands once more. His lip is tucked between his teeth, enjoying the view as he becomes increasingly aware of his cock now just one slip away from your pussy lips.
Quickly coming to your own awareness of Bucky’s rock hard length pressing into you, you sober up.
“Darling?” You tug on his bottom lip with the pad of your thumb.
Bucky’s brows pinch closer slightly.
“I need you inside me.”
His soft lips are crashing against yours within moments, his hand fighting between the nonexistent space between your bare bodies to grasp his cock and guide his tip to your bundle of nerves.
The sudden taste of how good Bucky can make you feel forces a sharp breath from you. It’s so much yet not enough, all at the same time.
“Tell me if you need me to stop, okay? Let me take care of you how you deserve.”
After a meek nod with your hands finding refuge in Bucky’s soft locks, he trails his cock head down your pink folds till it catches on the dip of your entrance.
Bucky tempts a whimper from you as he slides inside of you, your walls stretching to accommodate his larger than average member.
“Fuck, doll, you’re so tight for me.” The firefighter moans, resisting the urge to snap his hips and bottom out completely.
You’ve yet to make a sound, the sting in your pussy not yet dissipating, and when you glance down at where your bodies meet, you realise you’re barely taking half of him.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Bucky’s reassuring voice is ghosting over your ear, “you’re taking me so well, sweets. You need me to go slower?”
You clench your eyes shut briefly, “No, keep going, you’re just so…”
“So what?”
Bucky watches a deep red creep up your neck before returning his gaze to your eyes, that now dance across the room avoiding him.
A gentle grasp on your chin draws you to face the breathtaking man above you and you clench around his dick.
“What happened to the little minx who was practically beggin’ me to fuck her, huh? Don’t get all shy on me now, dollface. I’m so what?”
His words have you spilling yours without second thought. “You’re so fucking thick, James, cock’s splittin’ me in half.”
He groans and snaps his hips fully into yours, making you scream out, “Jamie!!!”
His scalp burns when you pull on his hair harder than before, your moans filling the room like a broken record. Bucky should be focused on the furrow of your brow, your laboured breaths, the way your cunt is choking him, anything about how perfect this feels, but all he can focus on is how with one thrust, you called him ‘Jamie’. And you didn’t just say it, you screamed it.
“Shit, honey, say it again.”
“Ja-Jamie…” You whine and feel Bucky draw his hips back before pounding into you once more.
“Again.” Your neighbour growls.
“Oh my god, fuck- I”
“Again.”
It takes everything you have to open your eyes and look at him. “Fuck me, Jamie.”
“That’s my girl.”
Bucky drives his length into you till his tip is hitting your cervix, the pleasure wrapping around your throat and squeezing the air out of you. You fight to breathe as Bucky drills into you, over and over, softly grunting with every thrust.
“Never felt anything as good as your cunt before, doll. Wanna spend the rest of my life buried inside you.”
You pull his lips to yours and, back arching from the mattress, dive your tongue into his mouth with vigour. He lets you explore his mouth while fucking you deep and fast, the headboard of your bed slamming against the wall and probably driving your neighbour crazy. Oh wait, he is your neighbour, and it is driving him crazy, but in the best way imaginable.
“So goddamn tight, sweets, y’pussy was made for me,” He swallows your whimpers happily, “don’t you think? You feel how good i’m filling you up, honey? Sliding in an’ out so easy, you’re so fucking wet for my dick.”
“Harder, Jamie.”
Goddamn.
“Keep calling me that and I’ll do whatever you want.”
You lose yourself in his thrusts; the sting has long turned into the most pleasure you’ve ever felt, and that’s saying something after the orgasm he lulled from you only a few minutes ago.
“Fuckin’ me s-so good, Jamie.”
“Ah- just like that, baby.”
“I’m getting close, James, need you to go faster.”
Your pleas send Bucky’s cock pulsing and he does exactly as you wish. He fucks you faster, fighting off the desperate urge to cum inside your sweet cunt.
“Jamie…” You sigh.
He grins up at you from his place at your tits, his tongue reaching out to tease your nipples. You push his head down till he takes your sensitive bud in his mouth, sucking and swirling his tongue over it while he gropes its twin.
The tight coil in your stomach is twisting to its limit and you find yourself dangerously close to cumming around Bucky’s hard, thick length.
“I’m so- oh fuck- i’m so close, James.”
He lifts his head and eyes you with lust blown pupils.
“Are you gonna cum for me, doll? God, I can feel you clenching around me, you wanna cream all over my cock? Huh?” He smirks at your pornographic moans. “Bet I’ll look so good covered in your cum, sweets, maybe I’ll let you clean me up, put that mouth to good use.”
“I’m gonna cum, i’m gonna cum,” You chant several times breathlessly.
“Let go for me, sweet girl, make a mess o’my cock. Cum, doll.”
Your body shudders as your hips grind up into Bucky’s, your walls tightening before he feels you gush around him. Practically screaming in pleasure, you bite down on Bucky’s shoulder to quiet yourself, though the pain travels straight to his member, still fucking into you with force.
“Fuck, James, you’re so perfect, never came so hard in my life- shit-“
He’s groaning into your ear, his balls slamming against you and filling the room with salacious wet slaps.
“You’re so wet and- fuck- I can’t- I can’t hold back much longer.”
You tug on the hair at the nape of his neck and lick up the side of his throat, tongue catching the salty beads of sweat in its path. Reaching his earlobe, you suck on it lightly and whisper into his ear.
“Want you to cum inside me, Jamie. Fill me up, please, I need your cum.”
“Argh, fuck!!” Your words send Bucky over the edge and his hips stutter while he finally lets go.
“Oh god, yes!” Bucky grunts. “Take my cum, doll, fuckin’ take it.”
Your tongue seeks his neck once more, pressing open mouthed kisses as his cock shoots streams of white seed into you, the spurts seemingly never ending.
“Fillin’ my cunt so much, Jamie- fuck- you feel so good!”
As his cock softens, his thrusts slow to a more bearable pace, both of you so sensitive from your orgasms. Catching your breath takes a minute or two, but in the meantime, you coax satisfied sighs from your firefighter by running your hands up and down his back; the light sheen of sweat greets your fingertips as you touch him tenderly.
With no words being shared, you focus solely on Bucky’s breathing, the rise and fall of his back beneath your hands and the weight of his body on yours. It should be uncomfortable, but you’ve never felt so at home in a place, let alone with a person, in your life.
“That was…” Bucky murmurs into your neck.
You finish his sentence, “Pretty damn good.” Laughter ripples through the muscles of his back.
“Yeah,” He agrees and pulls back slightly to look at you, “you feeling okay?”
“If by okay you mean ‘completely and utterly fucked out’ then yeah, I’m great.”
You grin cheekily before pushing his hair behind his ear yet again, an act you find yourself praying that you’ll get to do for the rest of your life.
“How are you feeling?” You ask sincerely.
Those blue orbs flick between your own, laced with an emotion you hope to be love. “Like I want to be with you like this forever.” Bucky admits. “That and completely and utterly fucked out.”
You laugh heartily, bringing a beaming smile to Bucky’s swollen red lips.
“Let me clean you up, doll.” He offers before pushing himself off you, much to your dismay. He disappears to your bathroom for a minute before returning with a damp cloth in hand.
“Can you spread your legs for me, sweets?”
He bites a chuckle at how quickly you obey him and gets to work, wiping away your shared cum from your pussy and goosebump-ridden thighs. The towel is warm and soft on your skin, lulling you to sleep, though you fight to keep your eyes on your neighbour.
“You’re so beautiful, James.” You say, reaching to place your hand on his that sits beside you hip, where he’s leaning his weight.
He smiles sheepishly and focuses on the job at hand. Once you’re clean, Bucky carries you to the bathroom so you can do your business, waiting patiently outside after putting his boxers back on and grabbing his henley for you to wear.
When you step out of the bathroom, Bucky’s holding his he let out in front of you. “You looked a bit cold so I thought you might want a shirt?”
You smile, “Your shirt?”
“Yeah…” He rubs the back of his neck, muscles flexing at the movement, “You don’t have to, I just thou-“
He stops talking when you pull the henley from his grasp and tug it over your head. It swallows you whole and the sleeves tumble past your hands, but Bucky thinks it’s perfect. You’re perfect.
Grabbing his hand, you pull him back to your room and back into bed, tugging the sheets over you both where you nestle into his chest.
“You’re staying, right?” You ask with the most puppy-dog eyes you can muster.
“Of course, doll.”
Smiling to yourself, you curl up against the firefighter. “Woulda cooked you a meal months ago if I knew that’s all it took for you to finally fuck me.”

Mr. Right?
Pairing: Firefighter! Bucky x Paramedic! Reader
Warning: tad bit of insecurities, fluff, flirting.
Author's Note: My favorite menace to society is back and he's on a date <3
Tumblr media
“Y/n the more you fuss over yourself in the mirror, the more you’re going to pick apart that outfit till you discard it like the first five, will you just get your shoes on already, you said you’d meet him at the bar and grill by 8.”
Your eyes meet Wanda’s in the mirror, “but are you sure it’s not too much, maybe a jacket will help?” you question going back to looking at the outfit she had helped you choose for tonight.
Your coworker turned best friend laughs watching you smooth over the dress once more, fingers picking at the ruffles hanging off your shoulders as if to fix them, “y/n you could show up in uniform and that man would have hearts in his eyes, but if throwing a jacket over it will help you feel better do it.”
You lean over plucking the discarded denim jacket from the chair you had flung it on earlier. You slip it on doing a once over in the mirror, “don’t you dare,” Wanda chides removing herself from your bed, “you look beautiful.” She says sliding up behind you to smoothe over your arms, chin hooking on your shoulder as your eyes meet in the mirror, “talk to me.”
“I don’t know wands.”
She gives you a look, you sigh, “I just don’t understand why me? He could have anyone he wants, women literally throw themselves at him for just a sliver of his attention, so why me?”
Your friend hums thoughtfully, “why not you? What makes those women so special that you can’t even begin to consider yourself part of them. They’re no different than you. So why can’t he want you, why must he want someone else when he’s clearly showing interest in you. He didn’t ask those women who throw themselves at his feet out tonight, he asked you. So, enjoy it, let yourself be the object of his desires, and hey if all goes wrong it’s one date, just one.”
Your friend was right and despite your insecurities getting the better of you where a man as good looking, charming, and well-rounded as Bucky Barnes was involved, you would let yourself enjoy tonight, it was one date, and whether it went beyond just one well you’d wait to see how the night played out.
Tumblr media
You had arrived a few minutes earlier than your agreed on time, the waitress walking you over to your favorite booth with a promise to be back shortly. You sent out a quick text to Bucky letting him know you already grabbed the two of you a booth and where to look for you. Placing your phone down next to you, you pick up the drink menu, browsing their various selection. You're flipping to the second page when a hand on your back draws your eyes up, your heart leaps to your throat.
There’s a grin on his lips, “Hey there sweetheart I’m Mr. Right, someone said you were looking for me?
You can’t help the laugh that bubbles out of your chest, as you move out of the booth to give him a proper greeting. “Well I’m here aren't I?”
Bucky chuckles, his arm slipping around your waist leaving a trail of warmth as he pulls you in close, his lips finding your cheek. “You look beautiful tonight, thank you for coming.”
He takes the spot across from you after helping you slip back into your side, both of you going grabbing a menu, “do you know what you want?” you question hoping to kick start a conversation.
“You.”
Heat slams into your face, your hands slowly bringing down the menu you hide behind, a cheeky smile awaits you, “I don’t think that’s on the menu.”
He licks over his lower lip, “but I’m looking right at it.”
You let out a choked noise hiding behind your menu, his laughter music to your ears, you bring it down slowly daring yourself to meet his eyes, “you know I think I'm beginning to understand why your charm works so well on other women.”
He leans forward, elbows supporting him as he uses his fingers to drop your menu lower, “while it might work on other women, the only woman I care to know it’s working on is sitting right in front of me.”
He’s rendered you speechless, the waitress saving you from what you're sure would have been a poor attempt at a comeback. She picks up your saving grace – the menu as she finishes jotting down your orders promising to return shortly.
As much as Bucky would love to fluster you further, he wants to hear about you, your workday, what you like to do on your spare time, he wants to know you. So he asks you questions, listens, soaks in however much information of yourself you’re willing to give him, and in kind you do the same. Conversation flowing easily between the two of you, time passing though you two are frozen in the moment.
The conversation doesn’t stop when your plates arrive, nor after the waitress has picked them up leaving the bill as she goes, “take your time,” she adds before disappearing. He’s got his fingers around the receipt before you can even attempt to grab it yourself, “put your purse away sweetheart,” he chuckles reaching for the wallet tucked away in his jeans, “I asked you on this date, I'll let you get the next one.” He says as he slips from the booth, offering you his arm as he guides you to the front to close the bill.
He’s been a gentleman the whole night, your worries from earlier completely vanished as he walks you to your vehicle. “Thank you for tonight,” you say leaning against the door of your car, “I had a really nice time with you.”
He drinks you in, “what?” you laugh warmth flooding your cheeks under his intense gaze, “I think you’ve got something in your eye – oh wait, its just a sparkle.” Your hand stops midstride to your face to swat at his arm instead, an opportunity he takes to pull you closer.
You can feel his laughter, your own mingling with his, as you look up at him, “How soon is to soon?”
Your brows furrow, “what?”
He pulls you closer, “yeah, how soon is to soon for me to ask for another date?”
Your hand finds his chest, “why don’t you find out?”
He groans though there's a grin kissing his lips, he steals your breath when his head finds yours, if you thought his gaze was intense then having him this close is no match, “I know you said only one date Barnes, but I’ve had a really nice time with you tonight, such a nice night that I would really love to do it again, whaddya say sweetheart, will you let me take you out again?”
Through your laughter at his poor attempt of mimicking you, you give him his answer.
‘Yes.’

Y/N hated that she’d noticed, but the couple of times where she’s stayed at Bucky’s the previous night, he’d left in a rush. She also hated that she knew this morning he’d slept in and hadn’t gone anywhere.
Pushing that aside, she got up and threw his t-shirt over her head so she could make breakfast. Flicking the radio on to hear some catchy pop song and opening a window to let some fresh air in.
Their shift started in just over an hour, so she brewed up a pot of coffee and started making some bacon and eggs. She was starving, and knew leftover birthday cake wasn’t a substantial enough breakfast.
She wasn’t sure how long Bucky had been awake and watching her dance around the kitchen, but he seemed to be enjoying the show.
“Uh, I made food,” she said, gesturing to the plates on the counter in front of her.
He thanked her with a brief kiss and sat up at the breakfast bar to eat. She slid a mug of coffee over to him and picked at the last of her eggs.
“I need a shower before work,” she announced.
“I’ll let myself out,” he told her. “Thanks for breakfast.”
She slipped out of his shirt and left it on the counter beside him, well aware he was watching her as she walked to the bathroom.
+++
Y/N couldn’t explain it, but she’d felt something shift. Her relationship with Bucky – if you could call it such – had changed and she wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not. There was something he was hiding and she didn’t like the jealous feeling that sat in the pit of her stomach.
“You any good at poker?” Romanoff asked as Y/N joined the crew in the mess.
She’d been busy in the gym for the past hour, trying to work her frustrations out in a more productive way. Freshly showered and ready for a quiet evening after a couple of calls throughout the afternoon. There hadn’t been anything major, so everyone was busy lounging around and enjoying the downtime.
Romanoff, Barnes, Wilson, Hill and Banner were playing poker. Someone was making dinner, but she forgot who’s night it was.
“Eh, I’ve played before,” she confessed. “Not sure if I’m any good, though.”
Romanoff dealt her in and she took a seat beside Banner, opposite Hill.
The basics were explained to her as they played a dummy round, just so she could get the hang of everything. It didn’t make a lot of sense, but they were betting peanuts rather than money, so she didn’t care if she won or lost.
Bruce was quite obviously good, but it was Romanoff and Barnes’ poker faces that threw Y/N a bit. Hill looked like she’s rather be anywhere else but playing, and Wilson kept the banter high. He did his best to make the stone cold duo crack, and while Barnes did occasionally laugh, he was right back to being unreadable.
Y/N had seen that face the previous two mornings when he’d left without so much as a reason. She tried not to let it bother her, but it did, and she wasn’t sure why.
“Hey, you’ve been kind of off for the last couple weeks. Everything okay?” Romanoff asked. It’d been a while since she’d found herself alone in the red-head’s company, but as they stripped the linen from the beds to do laundry, Y/N almost appreciated the check-in.
“Yeah, just have a bit on my mind, is all,” she admitted half-heartedly.
“Doesn’t have anything to do with the guy who left the gnarly bruise on your neck after your birthday, does it?”
Y/N laughed as she folded the fitted sheet around the bed in front of her. “It plays a small part, I guess.”
“You want to talk about it?”
Natasha left the question hanging in the air between them, letting Y/N decide whether she wanted to chat or not. After a while, once the bed Y/N had been remaking was finished, she sighed.
“I think he’s hiding something from me,” she admitted. “He’s always quick to make an exit and constantly telling me he’s having dinner with his Mom, or they get coffee every morning, blah blah. I just can’t help but feel like he’s lying about something.”
Natasha hummed. “Have you asked him about it?”
“We don’t have that kind of relationship,” she said. “I don’t want to come across as jealous or possessive, but if there’s someone else, I’d like to know, you know?”
“Do you want my advice or do you just want to vent?”
“Advice.”
“I think it’s wise to confront him. If it’s just sex between the two of you, you have a right to know if he’s sleeping around with other women. If it was me, I wouldn’t want to see him if he didn’t wear protection. But on the other hand, maybe he is being honest. He could just be a total Mama’s boy.”
Y/N snorted in laughter. “You want to know the kicker, Nat?”
“Hit me,”
“We didn’t use a condom once, and ever since, he’s been insistent on using them,” Y/N said. “And I didn’t fight it, just because I don’t want some other woman’s STD. Last time we had this arrangement neither of us even thought about condoms. That’s what makes me think there’s someone else.”
“It sounds like you need to decide if you want to keep having sex with him, or sit him down and find out what he isn’t telling you,” Natasha said. “If it was me…I wouldn’t have sex with him again until he told me.”
“He’s been busy these last couple weeks,” Y/N said. “Since my birthday…he’s been weird. ‘We can’t see each other tonight, I’m out of town,’ or ‘I can be there in three hours.’ Like, if you don’t want to keep this going then just tell me. I’m a big girl, I can handle it. I just feel like I’m going crazy.”
“You’re not going crazy,” Natasha assured her. “He’s making excuses.”
“And if he is sleeping with other women, do I want him in my bed three hours after he’s likely been in her bed?”
“He sounds like trouble.”
You have no idea.
Y/N sighed, running a hand over her face. “Too much trouble for it to just be sex, right?”
“I didn’t say that,” she replied. “Only you know what you want the outcome to be. Just have to decide whether confronting him about his lies is worth losing the thing you have if you don’t like the answer.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Thanks, Nat.”
Y/N hauled a bag of washing down to the laundry room, needing a moment of silence to think things through. Natasha had a look about her, something she couldn’t quite read. Like she knew something Y/N didn’t, or maybe she was truly clueless and was trying to imagine herself in Y/N’s shoes.
“There’s more going on, isn’t there?” Natasha asked.
As she entered the laundry room with another bag of washing, she found Y/N leaning against the machine with her head lowered.
“I’m late, Nat. Him being weird about the condoms and his general behavior lately…I feel sick.”
Natasha didn’t get a chance to reply, because Wilson was hollering that dinner was ready. She gave Y/N a sympathetic look, but didn’t press the issue as she started angrily throwing sheets into one of the machines. Simply placing a friendly hand on her shoulder and leaving her alone.
Y/N would be lying if she said she didn’t shed a couple tears, but she was quick to gather herself before plastering on a happy face and joining the team for dinner. Sam had made one of his family’s recipes, and the smell alone made her salivate.
Even if the thought of eating anything made her sick to her stomach.
She dished herself up a small plate, but grabbed a bottle of water as well. Taking a seat beside Bruce, far away from Bucky. Aware that the motion didn’t go undetected from the latter, but forcing herself to eat despite not feeling hungry.
+++
A quiet night was needed, but it wasn’t likely. The siren rang out a little after nine – a candle had caught the shower curtain alight while its owner fell asleep in the bathtub. They required some minor medical attention, and the bathroom was worse for wear, but they’d be okay. It was a good outcome all things considered.
Y/N was getting a bottle of water from the kitchen when Bucky cornered her. She’d been avoiding him and it was obvious he was here to address that. Even if he had waited until the shift was almost over, while everyone else was asleep in the bunk room.
“What crawled up your ass and died?” He asked.
Sure, he could’ve gone about it better, but this was the safest way to communicate. Snippy comments and sarcastic remarks were her M.O. He was trying to make her comfortable to have this conversation while at work.
“Not in the mood today, Barnes, she replied with a sigh.
He took a moment to stare her down, really look at her. It’d been a couple days since he’d stayed over after her birthday, but she looked exhausted. Dark circles had made themselves at home under her eyes, her brows seemed to be set in a permanent frown, and her attitude had been less than that of a team-player.
While Y/N was still alternating who took the lead on calls, she’d barely spoken to him unless absolutely necessary. Even his smart-ass jabs hadn’t been enough to warrant a retort.
“Anything I can help with?” He pressed.
“You’ve done enough,” she stated, letting the words settle between them.
“So you’re mad at me? That’s new.” He scoffed, rolling his eyes as he turned away.
“Get fucked, Barnes.”
“Are you on your period or something?” He snapped. “Because you’re never this much of a cunt without good reason.”
“Fuck you,” she spat. “I’m allowed to be pissed off without anyone questioning my menstrual cycle. But between you and me? I’m late.”
She was glad she whispered the last part, because it really drove home her point. His eyes widened ever-so-slightly, mouth opening to say something but ultimately deciding against it.
“I’ll pee on a damn stick within the hour. I don’t need you to hold my hand. I don’t need you to do anything, except leave me the fuck alone. Are we clear?”
It was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The first tear fell before she had the chance to swipe it away, and he was quick to wrap his arms around her.
“Let me go.”
“I can’t do that,” he replied, holding her tight as her tears began to soak his shirt. She hated feeling weak, but she hated it even more than he was the one seeing her like this. That he had played a potential role in this situation. “It could just be late.”
“Stop talking,” she shushed him, not wanting to hear any words of comfort from him. The thought had already crossed her mind, but her cycle was like clockwork. She were late, it was as simple as that.
When the siren blared out, she pulled away from him and quickly wiped her face as she raced to the gear room, listening to where the call was coming from. Her heart sank to the pit of your stomach as she pulled on her turnouts, watching everyone else doing the same.
“That’s a school,” someone said. She honestly had no idea who said it because she was climbing into the rig and putting on her best game face.
Barnes took his seat opposite her, his face riddled with worry as Captain Wilson relayed the information of the call.
“Fire alarm is going off at an elementary school. No news yet where the fire is, but most of the school has been evacuated. There will be parents going crazy trying to find their kids since it’s about time for school drop-off. We do not need them playing the hero and running into a burning building, copy?”
There was a chorus of ‘yes, sir’s that rang out, but Y/N’s eyes were locked on Bucky. Bucky, who usually kept his face blank when calls like this came in. Bucky, who would joke and keep morale up, was eerily quiet.
It worried her.
When they arrived at the school, she looked at him to run point.
He had eyes for no one but her.
“I need you to take this call, Y/L/N,” he said, voice thick and gravelly. He looked spooked. “I can’t go in there.”
“What? Barnes, it’s all hands on deck! Get your fucking head in the game!” She snapped.
“You’re running point because my son is in there!” He yelled back, running a hand over his face. “Please, my son is in there.”
She squared her shoulders, pushing aside any fear she had. Any doubt she had behind why he’d frozen.
He had a son. A son he’d literally only just told her about. A son.
“I’ve got him, Barnes,” she assured him, holding out her fist. He needed to bump it – it was good luck. A promise. She would do everything she could to make sure his boy was safe.
When his fist touched hers, she nodded and turned to face her team.

BUCKY BARNES
Firefighter bucky

Warning: implications or past peoples suicides and reader feeling such aswell, please please reach out, anyone would rather hear you talk it out a billion times than get that phone call saying youre gone, you matter so so much and youre cherished on my account and others.

No pronouns mentioned in regards to reader, no weight, skin color or hair type
Tumblr media
A man with a metal arm and the power of the jaws of life put together but faced with a person in shock? Face with someone on such an edge that meant optional disappearance on a permanently gone or permanently demolished mind to body control type level?
Either out of your mind in Escape or stuck in your mind for what would feel like forever
Hes doing everything in his power to get to you, putting petle past the metal to get the engine to you in time, youre more than just a call from a passersby or a coincidence, youre in need of redemption and hes willing to lead your first steps, on his right he wears his heart on his sleeve, on his left he carries the memories of lost hearts, and saved hearts on the metal of his arm, roughly engraved by hand of a man who cares way too much for the world because he lives and struggles in it aswell.
The engravings on his metal arm keep him going. After he pulls your mind back into your body, planted on the ground his arms holding tightly around your stomach, you sitting between his wide spread legs, his boots further from you than your own feet, hes a tall burly teddy bear. Through kick thrash and sob of your resentment, he would hold you, he would let you exhaust yourself and than hed soothe you even more.
He would slowly slip off his jacket and let you run your fingers over the hearts of others he hides beneath his sleeve the filled in are gone and the open are stil here, tonight he will add another open one.
Tumblr media
Im not sure what this is, but i wrote it because my window is open and i can hear the distinct call of fire trucks ambulances and cop cars in the distance, the scream and wail of the siren is comforting to me.

A drunken rage and a sober confession
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Words: 1.116
Warnings: the use of alcohol, fluff
Summary: Bucky confesses his feelings to you after he comes to you after a date gone wrong. But you won't hear his confession since you're sleeping. But are you really sleeping?
„I mean come on Buck, don’t let this chick get you down, she doesn’t know what she’s missing. You’re nice, sweet, funny, generous, you make the best chocolate Chip cookies I’ve ever tried und you have the world cutest daughter. Seriously it’s her loss, now she will never see your ass in the pants of your fireman uniform. “
And here you are, standing in front of your best friend, one hand on your hip, while you hold a half empty  bottle of vodka  with the other one. Giving your best friend the best speech about self-worth that you can, in your admittedly quite drunken condition.
When Bucky called you earlier, to ask you  if he can come over,  you were surprised, you expected him to still be on the date of which he told you, with the "really cute lady" he had met at the supermarket.
And of course you weren't even the slightest bit jealous when he told you about it. No, of course you weren't. And certainly this date is not the reason why you have been drinking for two hours already.  I mean it’s not like you've been totally hopelessly in love with him for over four years now, without him noticing.
But how could you not be in love with him? Bucky is always there for you when you're down, he supports you where he can and every time you see him in his firefighter uniform you have to be careful that your jaw doesn’t hit the ground.  The only one who knows about your feelings for Bucky is your best friend Natasha, apparently you didn't keep your ogling as secret as you thought you did, as she soon found out about your crush on him. After a long talk from her, you wanted to ask him out, but unfortunately it was the same day that he told you about the "supermarket lady".
So you locked your feelings deep in your heart and were happy for him as much as you could. After all, it's been a long time since he threw himself into the dating pool. Ever since his now ex-girlfriend ,Lisa, left him about two years ago, leaving their then seven-month-old daughter Charlotte with him.
All the time you are walking up and down the living room giving while giving him your uplifting monologue, Bucky is sitting on your sofa, grinning and following your movements with his eyes.
“Angel, it's really not that big of a deal. She just didn't want to have a little kid in her life. And that's ok. As long as I have you and Charlie, I will be fine.”
You roll your eyes and pause in your movement:” Why am I angrier at this woman than you are, she knew you had a daughter before the date.” you look at him questioningly.
“First of all she did know I have a daughter, yes but she didn’t know Charlie is still so young. And second you’re angry because you are drunk, you always get upset faster when you are drunk. But honestly how much did you drink and why?”
While he was answering you, Bucky got up and moved closer to you.
Only now do you really notice the affect of the alcohol, before that you were still distracted by your angry rant
Your slight swaying, a clear sign of your alcohol level.
Bucky seems to notice this, because he carefully pulls you close to him, to stabilize you.
"Come on, let's get you to bed" he carefully tries to move you towards the bedroom, but you stop him: "No, I have to be there for you today and take care of you, not you for me.”
Smiling lovingly, Bucky looks you in the eye:” Just seeing you today, made this day better, and as I said, I’m fine. And you little miss, are definitely drunk, so off to bed you go.”
This time you go with him willingly.
When you arrived in your bedroom, he helps you out of your clothes. While Bucky disappears into the kitchen to get you a glass of water for the night, you snuggle up under your covers. As you lie there you feel everything start to spin, so you close your eyes to avoid getting overwhelmed.
You can hear Bucky's footsteps as he approaches your bedroom again, but you can't bring yourself to open your eyes, you’re way too tired. Apparently he thinks you fell asleep because his steps slow down and he tries to walk as quietly as possible. You realize, that he is now standing next to your bad as he puts the glass of water down on your bedside table. However, you still do not open your eyes. You feel his hand lovingly stroking your forehead and wiping your hair off your face.
Your mattress sinks in slightly and you notice that he has sat down next to you on the bed, stilling running his fingers through your hair, he sighs, then begins to speak softly: ”Oh angel, if you only knew what you mean to me and that I only went on this date to forget you at least for a few hours. But I needed some way to take my mind off you. Getting that image of you, me and Charlie as a family out of your head. But I should have known that I can never get my mind  of you. Steve said I should finally confess my feelings to you and tell you the truth about Lisa and me. But I can't, what if you don't want to be friends with me anymore. I can bear never having you all to myself, but I could never deal with it, if you turned your back on me. If only I could tell you how beautiful you make my life. How many times I wish you were Charlie's mother, but I don't dare. Maybe someday I'll grow some balls, so I’m brave enough,  to tell you all this when you're awake, to tell you that I love you with all my heart and all my soul.  But not today.” Suddenly you feel fully sober again.
He gets up from your bed carefully, a few seconds later you feel his warm, soft lips blow a gentle kiss on your forehead before his steps move away from your bedroom. You hold your breath, only when you hear the front door slam softly do you open your eyes and let air flow into your lungs again.
Just to whisper a single, quiet sentence into the darkness of the room: "I love you too.

A WAVE OF FLAMES
Tumblr media
First responder C1
Summary: Darkish. When a normal night at home turns into a disaster you find yourself in the arms of a stranger. No use of y/n.
Warnings: dark, kidnapping, fire, manipulation, using emotionally unstable people, PLEASE DONT READ IF YOUR UNCOMFORTABLE
Events: juneiverse @buckybarnesevents
A/n just a heads up I suck at writing but I really wanted to join this event. Have not reread it so it probably sucks. About 970 words.
The alarm was ringing through your house a panic surged through your blood as you quickly sat up. And threw a hoodie over your head. Blindly grabbing your phone. You quickly made your way to your apartment door. Sliding a pair of slippers on and closing the door behind you as you stepped into the hall joining the crowd of your neighbours all walking to the staircase at the end of the hallway. You make your way into the crisp summer night holding your hoodie closer to your body, regretting only wearing the slightly Lacey sleep shorts and a thin bralette you had bought last week as a form of self-care.
As you watched multiple fire trucks pull up to your complex you couldn’t help but overthink everything. Where would you stay? Would you lose all your precious belongings? You tried not to panic as you stood amongst the flashing lights and harsh sounds. You couldn’t see any fire but you could smell it. It was faint but was there.
A tap on your shoulder pulled you from your overthinking spiral. You looked to your right where a large man stood. Your eyes glanced over him. The fireman gear he had on did nothing to conceal how massive he was.
You couldn’t help but think of what he must look like under that suit. Was he all muscle or was he also soft? As soon as your eyes made it to his face though not a thought was in your mind except his eyes. Those stormy blue eyes looked down at you with worry. He was speaking but you could focus on anything but those eyes.
A light shake of your shoulder snapped you out of his eyes.
“Hey, are you ok miss?” The man in front of you asked. You nervously nodded your head. Still unable to speak under his spell. “My name is Bucky I’m here to help you.”
“Bucky” you tried his name out on your tongue. You felt his hand land on your shoulder guiding you over to an ambulance.
“Hey Nat I think she may have a concussion,” he spoke to a lady with short red hair. Both of their hands gently pull you down to sit on the edge of the ambulance. Bucky stays beside you as the lady he called Nat checks you over. Your eyes stay on his until the paramedic puts a bright light in your line of vision. Snapping you out of the trance once again.
“She seems perfectly fine buck. Probably just a little shaken.”
“What’s your name sweetie?” She asks, bending down to be at eye level with you. You tell her your full name and she stands up and walks somewhere out of your view. Leaving you once again with Bucky.
“You alright doll?” He asks once again. All you managed to do was weakly shake your head. Trying desperately to be strong but all your fight left you as you looked into his eyes.
You couldn’t help but think back to the argument you had with your parents. The same argument that made you move to a city where you knew no one. The argument is that they decided to cut you off. It seemed silly now. It was hitting you just how alone you were. Your house is in flames with no one to help you.
A warm arm wrapped around you in comfort. And you felt yourself truly break.
You vaguely recall the lady coming back over to the two of you. Saying something to James before talking to you again. She gently placed what looked like an oxygen mask over your face. That lightheaded feeling came back stronger as you felt your mental state drift away.
-
A pounding headache is never what you want to wake up to. But as you pull yourself out of sleep you take in your surroundings. None of them are familiar and a panic takes over your breathing. You sit up and rip off the blankets that were laid carefully over your bare legs. You go to hop off the bed but a counter force makes you face plant on the carpet.
You hear movement from the other room. You turn around to assess the situation and to your horror, your leg is cuffed to the frame of the bed.
The sound of the door opening sends you into a panic. Flights are not an option while you are cuffed down so fight it is. You look for something, anything to protect yourself, settling on a book that is laid on the nightstand. Holding it in front of yourself you look at the door that is opening.
A smiling face pops through the door.
The man from last night stood on the threshold. His sweet voice filled the air. All filled with sweetness and warmth as if he didn’t lock you to a bed. Kidnapping you when you had trusted him.
“What is wrong with you?” You spat at him, needing answers. And desperately hope this is a big misunderstanding.
“I just wanted to help you doll.” There it was again that sweet voice that got you into this mess.
“Help me? You tied me to a bed!” You could believe you got into this situation.
“Hey, I only did that to protect you. I knew you wouldn’t understand right away.”
What the hell was he talking about?
“We’re meant for each other doll. And I couldn’t just let you walk away from me. I knew the second I saw you I had to have you.” His voice was so soft but those words were devious. “And now that I have you we can be happy. Don’t you wanna be happy doll.”
His blue eyes searched yours so desperately that you almost believed him. You couldn’t believe him though. Right?

How's Your Head?
Pairing: Firefighter! Bucky x Paramedic! Reader
Warnings: None.
Author's Note: The gym thoughts won.
Tumblr media
“What happened Chief?”
Sam gives you a look, “I’m on the job so formalities only,” he cracks a smile, you roll your eyes biting back your own, “details on the injured chief where is he?”
He tilts his head to the back of the fire truck stationed feet away, “he’s at the back of the drill truck, Rogers is keeping him talking, got his head and shoulder banged up pretty good running drills.” You hoist your bag higher on your shoulder, “take me to him.”
You hear him before you see him, “Rogers I swear if you don’t get your damn fingers out of my face, I told you I’m fine, I’ve gotten hurt worse on the job there’s no need for all this fussin, you shouldn’t have called.”
“And that’ll be my call to make,” you say rounding the truck finding Lieutenant Barnes sat slouched over the back, ice pack pressed to his head, Captain Rogers pressing one to his shoulder. You place the bag next to him taking over the icepack pressed to the lieutenant's shoulder.
“I’ve got it from here Captain, you and chief are free to go.” you say excusing the two other men, they thank you letting the Lieutenant next to you know they’ll be at the station when he’s done.
You turn to the broad-shouldered brunette sitting in front of you his posture much straighter now that his colleagues have left a glint in his eyes and a cheeky smile on his lips as he looks at you, you already know you’re in for trouble.
“How are you feeling Lieutenant Barnes?”
The man groans, clutching his chest in dramatics, “You wound me, I’ve told you to call me Bucky sweetheart, we’re past lieutenant Barnes at this point.”
Your tongue pushes into your cheek, biting back the smile threatening to split your lips, “and I’m on the job lieutenant, now how are you feeling, any pain?” You question lifting the ice back from his shoulder, your fingers curling into the white top to peek at the reddened skin, a speckle of red and purple look back at you.
“Sweetheart if you want to see me shirtless all you have to do is ask.”
Ignoring his teasing comment, you press down on the skin softly drawing out a pained groan, “scale of one to ten what’s the pain level?”
“I’d say an 8 but a kiss could bring it down to 1, get my mind right off of it.”
You shake your head placing the icepack down “and how’s your head?” you continue getting right in front of him to remove the second icepack, your fingers combing softly through his hair to check for broken skin
“I’ve had no complaints.”
Your fingers pause in his hair, eyes meeting his amused ones, you laugh, “I meant your actual head Bucky, are you feeling pain?”
“Will you kiss it to make it better?”
“Bucky.”
“What about a date,” he continues, “I’d have something other than a headache to look forward to tonight.”
You chuckle fingers moving in his hair again, “you should be glad they called I’m pretty sure you’re suffering from a concussion.” you say examining his head again.
His hands find the sides of your thighs, the action rendering you motionless, your fingers still in his hair again eyes finding his, “I’m actually glad they called - I got to see you.”
He’s grinning at the smile you try so hard to hide. “C’mon sweetheart one date.”
“If I agree to this one date, will you let me finish checking you so I have something other than your incessant flirting to report back to the chief?”
“If you agree you can check me as thoroughly as you want sweetheart.”
“Fine Barnes, one date, one.” you stress.
“Oh sweetheart you and I both know it won’t only be one.”

Bucky x Reader Zombie Apocalypse AU
It's been five years since zombies first started walking the Earth, destroying anything and everything in their wake. Now, in this apocalyptic world, fighting for survival comes as naturally as breathing. The one thing you've learned ever since they arrived, though, is that the living can be so much more dangerous than the undead. When you stumble across two young, scared boys lost in the woods and being chased by walkers, you go against your better judgment and help them to safety. Little did you know that helping them would lead you to Bucky - an angry, grumpy, distrusting member of the camp Shield. Bucky has zero interest in having you enter his life. He's been hurt before and lost too many people to risk experiencing that kind of pain again, and he knows that there are secrets you aren't telling the group. Yet, when push comes to shove, and you're put at risk, he'll stop at nothing to keep you safe.

KINKTOBER MASTERLIST
18+ ONLY MINORS DNI
Tumblr media
Early morning, late night- Bucky didn’t care what you wanted to call it as he drug his feet out of the station at 3:28am.
All he cared about was being home for the next two days. His three day shift finally coming to an end and the plush bed that held you in it waiting for him.
Shedding his uniform the moment he walked through the front door, he peaked into the bedroom where you slept soundly. Carefully making his way into the bedroom and peeling back the thick comforter to slip into bed. Placing himself over your sleeping form as slowly as he could as to not wake you. Not yet at least.
He remembered the conversation the two of you had about his harsh hours as he caressed your soft skin. Knuckles dragging along your upper arm, remembering he was allowed to take what he wanted and needed whenever he pleased. You said so yourself when you’d caught him fisting over himself to a photo of you in the living room one night when he’d just gotten home.
Even in your sleeping state, you seemed to acknowledge his presence. Shifting to your back and legs falling open, the sight of you so inviting as he gently glided his hands along your legs.
Up your calves and to the soft thighs he just wanted to bury his head between and stay there for the next 48 hours. Feasting on your sweet nectar like a starved man until you begged for him to stop.
The throb of his cock started to become unbearable when he cautiously drug your underwear down. Folds glistening with arousal and calling out for him to devour, clit swollen and needing attention as his tongue swiped over his bottom lip. Skin heating at the thought of filling you until your warm walls spasmed around him.
“Oh, peach. Dreamin’ ‘bout me?” He whispered, fore finger and thumb spreading your slit to have a better view of how needy you were as he pulled the front of his briefs down. Your breath hitching when his swollen tip nudged your clit.
“Buck…” you breathed out, his eyes flitting to your face to see you were still sound asleep. Your slick letting him slip in with little effort.
“‘M right here, baby. Just relax.” Bucky said only a little louder. Gradually pushing in every inch of his cock to soak in the feel of your cunt stretching around him. Accepting everything he had to offer with a relieved sigh as his bionic left hand gingerly lifted the shirt of his that you wore, baring your chest to him.
Buried to the hilt, he slowly pulled out. Watching as your cunt clamped around him as if it were trying to pull him back in, fingers dancing over the supple flesh of your breasts. Tweaking your pebbled buds as he kept a slow pace and pushed back in until his skin was flush to yours.
“Fuck, peach. Drive me crazy.” He huffed out, an almost inaudible whimper passing your lips. Every roll of his hips bringing another pleasured sound from you as his rhythm gradually increased until you were wide eyed and reaching out for him. Your back arching from the mattress and hands gripping onto whatever part of him they could find.
“Bucky- oh, god- please- don’t stop-“ you keened, a proud grin spreading across his sharp features. Angling his hips to fuck into the rough patch that sent you over the edge, your nails curling into the skin of his thigh bringing a pleasurable sting as your mouth fell open in a silent cry.
His lips crashed to yours, twitch of his cock not registering with you as he spilled into you. Slowing the rock of his hips and slipping out of you despite the whine that muffled against his lips.
Letting out a content sigh as your arms went loosely around his neck and ankles hooked at the base of his back, Bucky grazed his lips against your jaw. Satiated and exhausted as he let a little bit of his weight rest on you. “I’m fucking addicted to you, peach.”

Bucky silenced the alarm blaring from the nightstand, but not before Y/N yelled at him to “shut that fucking thing off before I ram it up your ass, Barnes.”
“It’s really great waking up next to you when you’re screeching in my ear like a bat out of hell,” he said, running a hand over his face.  Wiping the sleep from the corner of his eyes.  “Glare at me any harder and you’ll burn a hole in the side of my head.”
“One can only hope,” she muttered, closing her eyes and trying to go back to sleep.
Bucky sighed, folding the cover back as he got out of bed rather than ignoring the alarm and going back to sleep like he wanted to.  Crossing the room and grabbing a pair of boxer briefs from the dresser, pulling them up his legs before snagging yesterday’s jeans from the floor.  Stepping into them and sliding the zipper home, donning the button through the hole before entering the bathroom.  He made quick work of brushing his teeth and washing his face.  Catching Y/N’s reflection in the mirror as she appeared in the doorway.
She’d snatched his shirt from the bedroom floor.  She’d never worn his clothes before and he didn’t know how that made him feel.  He liked it, sure.  Leaning back against the vanity and folding his arms over his chest.  She matched the action.
“So you want me to stay but then you’re the one getting ready to leave first thing in the morning?”
“I have coffee with my mom every morning,” he replied simply.  It was part of the truth, but he wasn’t ready to tell her the rest just yet.  “Would you rather I invite her over here and you have to do the walk of shame with a witness?”
“It’s only a walk of shame if you regret what you did,” she pointed out.  “I hope you don’t expect me to stay until you get back, because I have shit to do today, Barnes.”
He didn’t give himself time to second guess his decision.  Taking two long strides so he was in front of her, one hand cupping her face as he commandeered a kiss, the other placed low on her hip.  He could tell she wasn’t expecting it, but matched his ferocity without much prompting.  Her hands placed firmly on his chest, like she wanted to push him away, but instead creeping up to wind themselves in his hair.  His hands sliding down her body, giving her ass a firm squeeze before lifting her off her feet and carrying her back to the bed.
She groaned softly as he settled between her legs, rough denim against her most delicate parts.  Legs tightening around his waist, his hips grinding down softly.  A delicious moan falling past his lips – one he’d normally be embarrassed of, but didn’t have it in him to shy away.
One strong forearm kept him propped up, the other enticed her to unwrap her legs from his waist.  His fingers finding her slick heat.  Teasing her clit and earning a moan before sliding home.  They both groaned.  Her teeth clamping down on his bottom lip enough to hurt.  Hands tightening their grip in his hair.  Legs falling open as his fingers worked to draw an orgasm from her.
He kissed her again.  He really liked kissing her – it was one of the only times she wasn’t arguing with him.  The other time being when she was on her knees blowing him.
She was close and they both knew it.  He worked his fingers faster, curling back towards himself when he was knuckle deep.  Knowing she couldn’t hold out much longer when he did this.  Her grip loosening in his hair, only to clamp onto his wrist.  Desperate to try and push him away.
“James...please.  Oh, fuck, please,” she whimpered, so deliriously close she didn’t know what she was saying.  “I’m so close.  So–fuck.”
He liked her in this state.  Desperate.  Begging.
“You gonna come for me, hm?”  He asked, voice low.  Mouth dragging over the shell of her ear.  “Be a good girl and come for me, Y/N.  Come all over my fingers.”
He kissed the corner of her mouth, fingers unrelenting.  Her breath caught in her throat, body resisting the orgasm he coaxed from her, only for her resolve to crumble moments later.  Breathy moans filling his ears, but still, his fingers didn’t stop.
        “JamesJamesJames,” she chanted.
“That’s it, baby,” he praised, kissing her slowly as she came down from her high.  She whimpered against his mouth as he withdrew his fingers.  He nudged his nose against her own, pressing a soft kiss to her lips before pulling away again.  “Stay.  I’ll be back by nine.”
“I want pancakes for breakfast,” she told him, letting him kiss her once more before he climbed off the bed.  She hummed as she rubbed her legs together, a content smile on her face as she stretched a little and made herself comfortable in the bed again.
Bucky didn’t argue.  Instead, he popped back into the bathroom to finish getting ready.  Shaving his face and running a comb through his hair.  Finding a shirt and lacing a pair of boots on his feet before heading out, snagging his phone, wallet and keys on the way, and hoping Y/N actually stayed.
It never took him more than 20 minutes to get to his mothers’ place.  Because of his change in morning events, he arrived closer to quarter-to-eight than just after half-seven like usual. His mother eyed him curiously but didn’t initially pry.
        “You’re late,” she pointed out.
“I know.  I’m sorry,” he apologised.  “Thanks for taking Theo last night.”
“I love having him around.  You know that,” she replied.
“How was he?  Is he mad I’m late?”
“He knows you’re busy,” she answered.  “I told him you text to say you’d be a few minutes late, and that he should start getting ready without you.  Don’t you dare make me lie to him again, James.”
“I’m sorry,” he apologised once again.  “It won’t happen again.”
        “Was she worth it?”
“We agreed we wouldn’t talk about my sex life.”
“That was before it interfered with you seeing your son, James,” she stonewalled.  He took a deep breath and ran a hand through his hair.  “You told me you were having a couple of drinks with a colleague.”
        “And I did.”
He felt like a kid again and he hated it.  He hated being reprimanded by his mother, but he hated that she was right.  His son needed to be put first – before everything else.  And usually that wasn’t an issue.  There hadn’t been a time since Theo was born that he’d ever been late to pick him up from his mother’s – Theo’s grandmother’s, – house.  Until now, and he had to make a decision whether or not he told her who the colleague was.  She’d understand the predicament he was in if he told her, but also he wasn’t ready for the lecture that came along with it.
        “Were you with Natasha?”
“I told you that’s not a thing,” he replied, scratching the back of his neck.  “Y/L/N was made Barton’s replacement.”
        “Oh.”
“Yeah.  We’re pissing everyone off at the house, so she invited me out for a drink so we could try and get along.  One drink turned into a couple and she came home with me.  She drives me fucking crazy, Ma.  I don’t know what I’m doing here again.”
His mother sighed and lightly patted his face.  She gave him a once over – noting the clenched jaw and creased forehead.  Bucky didn’t like the silence.  He was sure she had her own opinion about the situation he’d found himself in with Y/N once again, but he knew that she was carefully choosing her words.
“Why don’t I take Theo for the rest of the week, hm?  You can keep picking him up for kindergarten like normal, and have dinner with us on Sunday night, but after shift and kindergarten on Tuesday he goes back home with you, okay?  Just try not to be late again, and if you are for whatever reason, give us a call so you can tell him yourself.”
Bucky nodded his head, pressing a kiss to his mother’s cheek.  “Thank you, Ma.  I really appreciate it.”
“Just promise me he won’t get a baby brother or sister in nine months.  Now go make sure he’s got underwear on.  I’ll finish making his lunch.”
He thanked his mother again before walking down the hall to Theo’s room, deliberately ignoring the comment about a sibling.  Using the secret knock he and Theo had worked out together, only to have the door fly open .02 seconds later.
        “Daddy!”
Bucky grinned as he bent down to catch the toddler as he tackled him in a hug.  It was the same reaction he got every morning and he’d never grow tired of it.  Holding Theo tightly as the young boy hid his face in his father’s neck.
“Easy there, Rookie, you almost knocked me over!”  Bucky teased, lightly tickling his sides.  Theo squealed in delight before giving his dad a kiss.  “Sorry I’m a little late today, bud.”
“It’s okay, daddy!  You’re here now.  You can help me get dressed.”  Theo gave him a big grin, and just like that, all was forgiven.
Bucky helped Theo finish getting ready.  Making sure his hair was combed, his teeth brushed, and his shoes on the right feet.  Theo grabbed a sweatshirt, but he still wasn’t sure how to use a zipper, so he asked his dad for help.
“Hey, bud, how’d you like to stay with Grandma for the rest of the week, hm?”
        Theo’s eyes lit up.  “Yes!”
“Yeah?  That okay with you?”  Bucky asked, wanting to make sure.  He crouched down in front of Theo, his hands on his sides.  Theo nodded his head enthusiastically.  “I’ll still pick you up for kindy each morning, and pick you up after.  I’ll even try to be there for dinner and bedtime, okay?”
        “Okay!”
“I love you, buddy.  You know that, right?  I love you so much.”
“I love you too, daddy.”  Theo wrapped his arms around Bucky’s neck, and Bucky picked him up to carry him back out to the kitchen.
        “Tears?”  Winnie asked.
“No, we’re happy this morning,” Bucky replied, graciously accepting the travel mug from his mother and taking a sip of coffee.  “Do I need to bring anything back for him later?”
“Nothing I can think of,” she said, tucking Theo’s lunchbox into his school bag and zipping it up.  “Arms out, Theo.  Then you boys are good to go.”
Theo thanked his grandma and said goodbye.  Bucky gave her a kiss on the cheek and a promise to see her later.  Bucky sipped his coffee as he and Theo left and made their way to the subway, ready to head to kindy.  Theo told him all about the things he and grandma were going to do while he stayed with her and it warmed Bucky’s heart knowing he loved his grandma to bits.
Theo’s mom wasn’t in the picture.  She hadn’t been apart of Bucky’s life long – just long enough for a condom to break.  Things had ended before either of them knew she was pregnant, and she’d come back into his life a week before she was due to have Theo.  Back then, Bucky had been shocked, and demanded a paternity test once Theo was born.  Sure enough, he was his kid, and once Bucky had him home, his mom had left.
It had been hard, and Bucky had relied a lot on his own mother’s help.  After the death of her husband and Bucky’s dad, Winnie had felt like a piece of her was missing.  Having Theo come into her life was the best gift the universe could’ve given her, even if she knew her son wasn’t coping.  She did everything she could to help Bucky, and forced him to take a few weeks furlough after breaking down at work so he could figure out how exactly to raise a baby.
Natasha had been his only friend at the firehouse initially.  She graduated from the academy a few months before him, so she knew what it was like to be the cadet getting the shit jobs.  She was the one who realised something was going on at home which resulted in his sour mood at work, and he’d told her everything.  In a way, both she and Bucky’s mother had been his saving grace.  Keeping him sane and keeping his priorities straight when they saw him struggling.  Offering to help where they could, and eventually he stopped needing their help as much.  Finding a routine with his mom so he could still work, and to this day they stuck to it.
Why fuck with something that worked?
Natasha was Aunty Nat and she loved Theo to death.  After Barton died, he was her saving grace.  She ended up crashing at the Barnes’ for a while.  Bucky couldn’t stand to see her so cut up, and she’d been there when he needed help the most.  It was time he paid back the favour.  So he slept on an air mattress on the floor in Theo’s room, and she took his bed.
Lines got blurred when she stayed over, and they wound up being a little more than friends.  The sex was good.  Bucky gave her the distraction her body craved, and they both made each other happy.  The entire relationship was short-lived, but that didn’t stop Bucky’s mom from wishing that something more would come of their friendship.
There were only a few people who knew about Bucky’s kid.  Chief Fury knew, because there’d been a couple of incidences in the past that required him to leave work.  Times like Theo being sick and needing to go home, or the time he broke his arm on the jungle gym.  Captain Wilson and Lieutenant Rogers knew because they’d become Bucky’s close friends, but almost no one else knew Bucky had a kid.  He wanted to keep his personal life private, but if they asked him he wouldn’t deny it.
They two Barnes boys arrived at Theo’s kindergarten just before half eight.  Sharing a hug and a kiss before Theo waved goodbye to his father and raced inside the school gates so he could play with his friends.  Bucky waved goodbye once he knew he was happy inside before making his way back home.
Now he just had to figure out the Y/N situation.  One thing was for sure, though; he knew he wasn’t ready to tell her about Theo.  The decision could easily come back and bite him in the ass, but they were just fucking.  There was no point in having a heart to heart, because that wasn’t who either of them were.  As of right now, she was just someone to keep his bed warm.  Someone to fool around with when they weren’t arguing.
After the way things ended last time...you’d have thought he learnt his lesson by now.
Bucky sighed as he unlocked his apartment, breathing in the fresh smell of coffee and heading into the kitchen to wash the travel mug his mom had given him.  Pouring himself a cup and leaving his things by the fruit bowl before making his way back down the hall to his room.
        “Where’s my pancakes?”
Bucky wasn’t expecting Y/N to still be there, if he was being honest.  So finding her still wearing his tee from the day before, reclined back against the wall with pillows behind her and sipping a coffee was a bit of a shock.  A good one, if he was being honest with himself.
“Do I look like a fucking IHOP?”

A drunken rage and a sober confession II
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Words: 1.015
Warnings: none that I can think of
Summary: After confessing his love to you, when he thought you were sleeping, he leaves your apartment. And you turn to your best friend for help
Sleep was unthinkable that night, it's like Bucky's words kicked all the alcohol out of your body.
You don't know how long you lay there staring at your dark ceiling. The silence that surrounds you is suddenly unbearable, so you throw your covers aside and head purposefully to your bathroom, where you splash cold water on your face.
Your mind is running wild and you don't know what to do with Bucky's confession. But fortunately there is one person in your life that you can always count on, well actually two but one of these people is now left out for a given reason.
So now you're standing in your living room at half past two in the morning and dialing your best friend's number while nervously running a hand through your hair.
"Damn it (y/n) do you actually know what time it is, I really hope you have a good..." you interrupt her.
"He confessed his love to me and, to be honest, I'm totally overwhelmed with it and maybe still a little bit drunk." There is a short silence on the other side of the line, you hear the rustling of a blanket, the sign, that Nat sat up in her bed.
“Who you talking about?”
"I'm talking about James" you collapse onto your sofa and pull your legs up against your body
"Barnes? Barnes finally had the balls to tell you how he feels about you. I have to admit that I'm surprised by that, I wouldn't have given him that much courage." you can practically see her grin in front of you
"No Nat, it's not like that, he told my sleeping self, so he thought I was sleeping, but I didn't sleep, just closed my eyes because I was so sick and I really didn't want to throw up like him And bam he confesses his love to me and I didn't do anything else so just lie there with my eyes closed and wait for him to leave?" You slap your palm on your forehead, "And what does "finally had the courage" mean? Don't tell me you knew about it and didn't tell me."
"First of all it wouldn't be the first time you throw up in front of him, I mean this man has seen you at all stages of your life and some of them really weren't pretty and yet he practically worships the ground you walk on. And second of all, yes I knew he was in love with you, Steve told me, but he asked me not to tell you because you, and I'm just quoting Steve now  " you two idiots should start finally acting like adults and stand to your feelings for each other. Because it's getting really annoying having to watch you throw heart eyes at each other all the time, or to endure your bad moods when one of you is on a date."
End quote, I mean please don't tell me the reason you got drunk today wasn't because of the date Bucky went on today." You furrow your eyebrows
"Of course the date was the reason." you exhale exhaustedly before you remember "how long have you been so close with Steve, is there anything I should know about?" you hear her chuckle "Steve and I have been spending a lot of time together lately, his best friend and my best friend spend most of their free time together so we've been seeing each other a lot and we get along great, let's see what happens." You can hear from the warmth in her voice that she doesn't stop you from feeling bad for spending so much time with Bucky, but before you sink to deep into your guilt Natasha immediately undermines.
"And don't you ever feel bad about it I'm not mad at you, I'm glad you and Barnes have become so close. I'm only mad at you if you let this opportunity pass by now. Work it out with him, You two are crazy about each other. So please put me and Steve out of our agony and start dating." Now you have to chuckle too.
"OK, I'll text him, thanks for everything, and sorry for keeping you awake for so long, sleep tight, love you”
“I love you too, really talk to him, now's your chance, don't screw it up, and don't drink up courage, you go into the conversation completely sober understood?”
You have to laugh at her fake stern tone, then you answer:” All right mum, no alcohol for me”
“Good Girl, try to get some sleep before you talk to him, alright? and don't make yourself nervous, the man loves you, he said so himself. Just listen to him ok?”
“Yes will do, I just remembered one other thing he mentioned, he said he wished he could tell me about  what happened to Lisa, you know anything about it? has Steve ever mentioned anything along these lines?
Again there is a short silence between you before you hear Nat sigh softly: "Yeah, I know something, but it is not my place to tell you this, Barnes has to do it himself. Please just promise me that you will let him and him finish speaking listen, even if you might not like what he tells you "
I nod in response until I realize that Natasha can't see this: "Yes I will, I promise you."
After you end the phone call with Natasha, you start to flip your phone in your hand a few times before opening the Messages app on your mobile. Your chat with Bucky is at the top since he's the last person to text you. Your message is short, sweet and direct: "We need to talk, come by my house at ten. It's urgent."
After the message is sent, you put your phone on the “do not disturb mode”, only to go back to your bedroom to get at least a little bit of sleep. You flop onto your bed, hoping that the dark, silent dream world will soon swallow you.

None of us were! And I'm so glad we can scream at each other about our boys being determined to ruin our readers. I need to see them slide down the pole again. I need these husbands to eat my goodies (HA!) and offer to take me home. Please, please, please. How do I make this happen?! Amazing, as always. ❤️🔥❤️

It was an old wives tale that you put no stock in: that a way to a man’s heart was through his stomach – though this time, it worked, and it worked better than you could have ever imagined.
Tumblr media
It had been a day. And on days like this, you turned to baking; sugar was a sure-fire way to improve anyone’s mood.
You weren’t sure how you had gone that overboard, though. Your kitchen, once spotless and organised, was in disarray with trays of muffins and cookies that were overloaded to the point they were almost overflowing.
It wasn’t a baking disaster, no – it was just a severe overestimation of the ingredients, that’s all.
The clouds out of your kitchen window looked stormy and grey, and a steady breeze rustled the trees lining your yard, and you sighed, glancing back down at the array of sweets. You came to a decision then. The firemen – and firewomen – at your local station; they were always giving to the community, fearlessly putting their lives on the line to save others and help them.
They deserved some sweet treats, too.
With your arms ladened with containers of baked goods, you placed them on the back seat of your car and then started the engine. The fire station of your small town wasn’t too far away, so you cranked up the volume of your radio and began the quick drive, a big smile on your face.
There was a bus parked just down the road with the sign for children boarding, and the smile on your face widened. Today must have been field trip day, and where better to do it than here? Children were standing just inside the station's roller doors where a truck sat, lights flashing bright; red and blue bouncing and reflecting off of gleeful, childish smiles.
You hummed quietly to yourself and parked your car, a small distance away to keep the driveway clear – after all, emergencies didn’t stop just because children and baked goods appeared.
A loud whoop of a siren echoed as you made your way to the open roller door and the children squealed, making you grin behind the towering containers in your arms, overjoyed to have picked such a cheerful day to share.
“Kids, settle down,” a deep voice called, the smile evident in the tone. You peered around the doorway and saw a fireman, a toothy smile surrounded by an immaculate goatee. “Now, are you ready to see how we get down the pole,” the man pointed over his shoulder towards the shining fireman’s pole by the stairs, “over there?”
A collective cheer came from the children and you lowered your arms just a little bit so you could see over the top container better. The doorway was partially in the way so you stepped inside, and the man spotted you. “Hi there,” he said, and you smiled back. “Just a minute. Buck can help you when he gets down here.”
“No worries at all,” you said, and Sam — as his name badge on his chest showed — winked before turning back towards the pole.
“Buck, Steve! Show these kids how it’s done.”
Heaven above, you were not ready for what would come sliding down that damned pole.
The squeak from the sole of boots and the pull of skin against metal sounded and your mouth opened in a quiet gasp, the containers nearly tumbling from your arms.
A blonde man, the size of a fucking tree, you swore, slid down first. The pants of his uniform were held up by red suspenders that lay over an extremely muscled chest, on full display through an extremely tight grey shirt. He landed on the cement floor with a grunt and spread his arms out, a wide, toothy grin on his face as he took in the clapping children.
“C’mon, Buck,” he called, looking up at the hole in the roof. “Get down ‘ere!”
It was a miracle that the children cheered again, because the noise that left you when ‘Buck’ slid down the pole was not dignified.
‘Buck’ was just as, if not, taller than the blonde you assumed now was Steve, and definitely broader. Dark brown hair fell down his face in strands while the rest was kept up in a messy bun. His grin was wide, happy, and bright, and his face was covered in a light dusting of stubble. The dark red, almost burgundy shirt that he was wearing was arguably tighter than Steve’s.
“Oh, fuck,” you whispered when Bucky stood next to Steve, throwing a tattooed arm over Steve’s shoulder, grinning down at the kids that barely reached their knees. “Oh, fuck.”
Fate wanted to laugh at you, however, because it was at that moment that both Steve and Buck looked over at the open doorway, their grins growing wider by tenfold once they managed a glance at your floundering expression.
“Take care a’her,” Sam, the man with the goatee said before gathering and herding the kids towards the far wall, where uniforms and helmets hung ash stained, but proud.
They sauntered over, and it was all you could do to not fall to the floor with wobbling knees.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Steve said brightly, and you bit back a whimper. “What can we do for you?”
Uselessly, you glanced between the two of them – struck by how damn handsome they were up close. It put all your calendars to shame.
“Doll?” Buck said, raising a brow and offering his arms to take the containers. “Lemme take them for you.”
“Thank you,” you squeaked, immediately growing anxious at the loss of the barrier you had to hide behind. “I-I baked them for you guys, as a thank you for all you do for us–”
“Is that a batch of cookies I see?”
Bucky turned at the voice, but Steve was still staring at you, a smirk growing on his pretty pink lips–stop it! You chided yourself.
“Clint, back off, they’re mine!” Buck yelled, pulling the containers tighter to his chest and shifting closer to Steve until their shoulders bumped.
A snort sounded behind them and you watched another blond approach, rolling his eyes. “Yeah,” Clint said, waving a hand as he entered what looked like an office. “Like your husband would protect you when he could take them all for himself.”
Immediately you looked at Bucky’s left hand, ignoring the way the intricate tattoos contrasted against his skin in the light, and saw two gold bands – one wider than the other with black and red stones. You felt crestfallen, it was a shame–
“What’re you staring at, sweetheart?” Steve piped up suddenly, a dangerously mischievous glint in his eyes. “You eyein’ up my husband?”
The ground couldn’t swallow you whole quick enough, and your eyes widened. “No!”
Buck laughed and shook his head. “Like you weren’t enjoyin’ it, punk.” The containers shifted in his arms and he offered his hand. “I’m Bucky, and this here is Steve.” You offered your name and gasped as Bucky pulled on your hand, placing a soft kiss on your knuckles.
“Stop swooning and just ask her out for coffee, you fool,” Steve snapped and rolled his eyes, taking the containers from Bucky and striding away, pausing only to wink at you.
Time had frozen. Your mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. “What the hell just happened?”
“Ignore him, he’s an idiot,” Bucky said, staring at what you would guess to be Steve’s ass as he walked away. “Anyway,” he turned back to you and you realised belatedly that he was still holding your hand. “Thank you, doll, we appreciate it a lot.”
You looked up at him and smiled the best you could – you were still reeling from the shock of whatever the hell just happened. “You’re welcome,” you said quietly, and Bucky tilted his head slightly. It was like a punch to the gut, seeing his hair brush against his cheeks, and the way his grey eyes shone in the light. “I better go–”
“Where you goin’?” Bucky interrupted. He was still not letting go of your hand.
Staring up at him, you struggled for words before settling on, “Home.”
Bucky raised a single brow in question, and shook his head slightly, as if amused. “You don’t sound so sure about that, honey.”
Oh, god, you thought.
“Come stay a while, the kids are leavin’ soon,” Bucky said, gesturing towards the kids with a nod of his head. “And this way we can give our compliments to the baker directly.” His smirk – god, it would be the death of you. “I owe you a coffee, c’mon.”
The tug on your hand was like a jumpstart to your heart, and you followed on autopilot while Bucky walked towards another door. His heavy boots slapped against the floor and you watched his back ripple as he walked, barely restraining yourself to just reach out and run your hand over the muscle, to feel the power and strength of them.
“There he is,” Steve said suddenly, his head poking out the door just ahead. “I was about to come and pull you off her.”
“Like you wouldn’t join in, punk,” Bucky huffed, and you stiffened, your mind racing. Just what kind of marriage was this?
The door opened and Bucky pulled you inside. It was a breakroom of some description with lockers lining one side of the room, while tables littered the middle, surrounded by mismatched soft chairs. A red-haired woman was perched on a black chair just inside the entry, while a younger man stood at the lockers – both of them were staring right at you as you entered behind Bucky, the young man with wide eyes, the woman with narrowed eyes, like she was appraising you.
“Who’s this?” The red-head asked, a sly smirk pulling at her lips when she glanced down to see Bucky still holding your hand.
“This is the lovely dove that baked us all these goodies,” Clint piped up suddenly behind you.
The young man ran towards Steve who was setting out the baked treats, snatching one with a laugh when Steve pushed him away. “Kid, you got no damn patience, d’you?”
“No,” he answered, and he looked at you, waving happily. “I’m Peter, by the way.”
“Hi Peter,” you said softly. Bucky pulled you closer again and you were suddenly against his side, his arm over your shoulder and all you could smell was him - woodsmoke, some kind of spice, and just Bucky. You gulped quietly and smiled at the red-head who stood slowly and made her way over to the table, then Steve. “I hope you like them,” you gestured to the containers.
“Make way!”
Bucky pulled you to stand beside the door and the man with the goatee appeared, grinning happily and making a beeline to the table of containers. “That’s Sam,” Bucky whispered, pointing at Sam’s back with the hand over your shoulder. “He’s the fire chief.” Then he pointed at the woman, a slight smile on his lips when you looked up at him. “That’s Nat, and I am terrified of her.”
“I heard that, Barnes,” Nat said suddenly, her back still to you as she perused what was on offer. “Watch it.”
Unseen by her, Bucky grimaced exaggeratedly and saluted. You laughed.
“Alright,” Steve said, clapping his hands. He took a seat on a couch you didn’t notice before and he patted the cushion next to him. “Come sit down, sweetheart,” he said, though you had no choice because Bucky had started to steer you towards him. “You deserve to enjoy your baking, too.”
You landed with an oof against Steve’s side, and Bucky followed, sitting on the free cushion with a loud groan. “Haven’t sat down all day,” he complained. Steve rolled his eyes and offered you a muffin that you took with a smile.
The containers slowly emptied and so did the room. Clint, Natasha, Peter, and Sam had filtered out to the office, leaving you alone with Steve and Bucky.
“So, sweetheart,” Steve purred suddenly, and your gaze snapped to his face. You could feel Bucky shift next to you but you were trapped in Steve’s gaze, a deer in headlights. “What d’you say, huh?”
You baulked, not even registering Bucky’s hand on your shoulders, slowly moving up to grip the back of your neck. “What?”
Steve chuckled and Bucky huffed a laugh, putting more pressure on the back of your neck – enough to cause you to shiver. “Come home with us, doll,” Bucky said, his voice low and hoarse. A shudder flew up your spin and you couldn’t form words. It was all too much of a shock–
An alarm echoed in the breakroom and you jumped a foot in the air.
“Damn it all,” Steve groaned.
Bucky looked to the ceiling and let go of your neck. “Always the fuckin’ way.”
“What’s happening?” You asked, looking between the two as they got to their feet, slight frowns on their lips.
“Time to go save lives,” Steve winked. “Tell ‘er, Buck, I’ll see you out there.”
You watched Bucky nod and offer a hand to pull you up, only when you took it, he pulled you tight to his chest, a slight chuckle rumbling in his throat when you let out a small noise of surprise. His hands gripped your shoulders and pushed you back so he had to bend slightly to look you in the eye, it was all you could do to not whine needily at the action – why was he so damn tall, you cursed.
“Here,” Bucky said, pulling a small card and a pen from his pants pocket. He stood there for a second scrawling something, and then he handed it to you. It was a phone number. “Call me later.”
There was a shout from out by the truck and Bucky winced. “I gotta go, doll,” he rushed, and he placed a quick kiss on your cheek, the stubble on his jaw tickling slightly.
“Okay,” you said numbly, still in shock. Bucky smiled and ran from the room; the yells of his crew audible even over the alarm. Slowly, you ran your finger over where he kissed your cheek.
You couldn’t shake the warmth you felt when you sat next to Steve, nor could you shake the comfort you felt from Bucky’s touch. It was surreal. They were married to one another, but yet, here they were so openly flirting with you – you were intrigued, happy even for that fact.
Suddenly, as you walked back to your car parked a small way away, thumbing at the small card in your hand, you realised bringing treats to the station may have just changed your life.
And you could not wait.

“You’re late, doll.”
The teasing voice of your neighbour catches you off guard when you open your front door; your hand slaps over your heart as you jump from shock.
“Says you” you smirk as you come down from the surprise. You step out of your door fully, turning and pulling it shut behind you.
Bucky chuckles, locking his own door while you do the same. He can’t help but sneak another glance your way - a light blush creeping up your neck under his gaze.
You think you’d be used to him by now, have your little crush under control seeing as you find yourselves leaving for work at the same time regularly. And yet here you are, heart beating faster than you’d like while you fumble with your keys.
Despite being late for work, Bucky waits for you to finish locking up before falling into step beside you as you walk down the hallway to the elevator.
“So let me guess, you slept through your alarm again?” The firefighter raises a brow, amused by your flushed appearance - unsure if that’s his effect on you or the fact your shift started five minutes ago.
“Worse,” you wince, “didn’t even set the damn thing.”
If you didn’t love it so much so much, you’d be inclined to be offended at the snort of a laugh he lets out. “Oh, doll.” Bucky shakes his head with a grin still left on his lips.
“What ‘bout you, Barnes? Spend too much time doing your hair?”
One unamused glare your way and now you’re the one giggling. Walking up to the elevator, you press the button to go down before stepping back to face Bucky.
“I’ll have you know, I woke up looking this good” He winks at you, hoping you’ll accept his non-answer for an answer. But you both know why he woke up late.
He barely even fell asleep, now that his nightmares are back.
His screams travel through the thin walls at night, falling on concerned ears. You pretend as though you don’t hear his night terrors but he sees the slight tug at your brows the next morning, the way you’re desperate to ask if he’s okay. But you never do; you don’t want to make him uncomfortable. You offered your help once, and you’re not sure you have the right to ask again.
“Who said you look good?” You tease, hoping to lighten the mood.
The elevator dings and the doors open. “Well the old lady whose cat we saved yesterday said I was the most handsome man in town” He smirks as you both step inside.
“Oh that’s high praise, Barnes” You reply, watching as he presses the ground floor button.
A comfortable silence falls upon the elevator as it roars back to life. Pulling out your phone, you fire a quick text to your boss to apologise for being late before shoving it back into your back pocket.
Bucky turns to you, “What time do you fin-“
A loud clunk sounds from above the lift and it stops moving, dropping a couple inches before coming to a halt again.
“Oh, shit” You all but whisper, almost afraid of speaking too loudly in case it sends you tumbling down.
“Well,” Bucky’s eyes are on the ceiling, “that didn’t sound great”
If you weren’t so nervous, you might slap him for stating the fucking obvious. Your eyes fall to your hand that’s grabbed his, not even realising you’d reached for him when the lift stopped.
Your cheeks burn crimson before you release the death grip you had on his wrist, ignoring the sparks resting beneath your fingertips.
“You okay, doll?” His voice softens when he sees the fear in your eyes.
“Umm..” You stutter, voice as shaky as your hands are.
“Hey, hey,” Bucky’s hands are on your shoulders now, “you’re shaking, Y/n. What’s wrong? What do you need me to do?”
Clenching your eyes shut, you take a deep breath. “Tell me we’re not about to fall to our deaths, please”
Your neighbour lets out a breathy ‘Oh, doll’ and strokes his thumbs over your shoulders. When you open your eyes, his blue ones bear into yours reassuringly, “We’re not gonna fall to our deaths.”
“This hunk of junk hasn’t been serviced in years but i’m pretty sure it’s just jammed or the powers cut out. Either way, we’re gonna be just fine” He continues.
You let out a wavering breath and nod slowly. “Okay. So what now?” You ask.
Bucky drops one of his hands to get his phone (much to your dismay), “I’m gonna call for the crew to come get us”
“Wait,” You frown, “why not press the help button?”
Bringing his phone to his ear, Bucky replies as it starts ringing. “Well, after Mr Garvey lugs his ass outta bed, he’d be calling them anyways. Might as well avoid being stuck here longer than we have to”
Ahh, Mr Garvey; the landlord to the whole building who also happens to be the laziest fucker around.
You mumble and ‘okay’ and roll your bottom lip between your teeth - completely unaware of the admiring eyes on you.
Eventually, a voice sounds from the other side of the phone and Bucky explains the situation, rambling off the information they need to find you. With a quick thank you, the call is over and you’re left with nothing but time to waste.
Your eyes follow the man before you as he approaches the far wall, sliding down it till he’s sat with one leg stretched out, the other bent at the knee where he rests his elbow.
“It’s alright, doll. You can sit down, it won’t break anything” He cocks his head to side, eyeing up your hesitant features.
You choose to trust him; after all, he is the one best qualified to know what will and won’t make this obnoxiously small lift crash to the ground.
Letting yourself drop to the floor, you sit with your knees up due to the lack of space to stretch your legs. Bucky is right in front of you, the tight squeeze seemingly not bothering him.
“Great day to be late, huh” You scoff lightly.
“Yeah well, at least we’re together”
A laugh escapes you, drawing a confused expression from your neighbour. “Let’s not pretend as though you need me here. If it weren’t for me you’d probably be climbing outta this thing”
“You overestimate my abilities, sweets. I’m no spider-man” He replies. Those damn pet names make you blush every time.
“You know,” you tilt your head a little to the left, “I can’t think of anyone who still uses ‘doll’ or ‘sweets’ aside from you”
You swear there’s a glint in Bucky’s eye when he replies, “Do you blush when someone calls you ‘baby’ as much as you do when I call you ‘doll’?”
Thinking for a moment, you shyly shake your head in response; he raises his brows at you, as though your answer proves his point. You wonder if he’s old fashioned in other ways. If he’s one to buy his girl flowers or open a car door for them. Maybe he’s just as polite in bed, though you find yourself disappointed at the thought. God, you need to stop thinking of him like that, no matter how hot he would look between your-
“You seeing that fella from last week again?”
Bucky’s question brings you out of your day dreams and you’re surprised by it, unaware he had any interest in your love life.
“Peter?” He nods. “No, I don’t think so. We weren’t really one the same page, if that makes sense”
“How so?”
You shrug slightly, “He’s fresh out of college and looking for a fuck buddy, not a genuine relationship.” You look away from Bucky as you continue. “And even if I wanted that, he’s hardly mature enough to know what he’s doing”
With your gaze settled on your hands, you miss the way Bucky starts biting his lip as he wonders what type of man would fulfil your needs. He shakes his head clear of those thoughts, not wanting to make a fool of himself.
“What about you? Haven’t heard any visitors at yours for a little while” You comment, hoping he doesn’t think you’ve been spying on him.
He lets out a dry laugh, “Lets just say I prefer my nights off with a beer and listening to you play the piano.”
“Oh god, you hear that?” You cover your face with your hands when he nods. “I hope I don’t disturb you. I didn’t think it-“
“It’s fine, doll,” he nudges your thigh with his boot, “I like it”
Your cheeks burn yet again as you drop your hands. “You do?”
“How could I not? You play beautifully. I’ve thought of slipping a request under your door but I didn’t wanna be the creep next door”
You giggle, “You couldn’t be creepy if you tried, Barnes”
“In that case, you should know my cat loves your music too”
With a gasp, you lean closer to Bucky till you’re sat cross legged barely a foot away from him. “James Barnes, the firefighter, has a cat!?”
You revel in his hearty laugh, eyes dancing across his face. From the crinkles at the corners of his eyes to the deep smile lines framing his mouth, you can’t help but be drawn to his beauty.
He sobers up. “Her name’s Alpine.” He says, “She was left at the firehouse a couple of years ago so I took her home with me. She’s probably the only thing that loves your music more than me”
A grin tugs at your lips as you enjoy the thought of your neighbour cuddled up with a little cat.
“If we make it outta here alive, I wanna meet her”
“We’ll be fine, doll. The crew’ll be here any minute now”
You hum and silence consumes the air once more. The soft dim glow of the overhead lights falls gracefully on your features and Bucky can’t pull his eyes away. He knows you’re not too fond of the situation you’re both in and yet he can’t help but thank whatever beings made this happen; to finally have an excuse to talk to you longer than your usual small talk, to tell you how much he’s in awe your piano playing.
He’s not ready to tell you that he’s rather in awe of you, too. Maybe next time you’re stuck in a lift together.
With the silence so heavy on your ears, your mind drifts to the reason you’re here in the first place. The reason he is here.
The nightmares.
You know he hasn’t slept properly in weeks; the dark circles beneath his eyes are just a glimpse of his exhaustion. And as much as you’re scared of pushing him away, the weight on your chest is growing too heavy to bear.
“I know you’re having nightmares again.”
Bucky stills.
“Those screams, James, I-“
“It’s nothing” He cuts you off with stern words. Your brows pull together, eyes laced with worry.
“It doesn’t sound like nothing. I thought they got better.“
His head falls back against the wall behind him, “Well you thought wrong.”
You curse yourself beneath your breath as you run your hands through your hair, searching for the right thing to say.
“I’m worried about you, James.” You breathe, eyes fluttering shut. You’re scared that if you look at him, you’ll cave in and promise to never ask about it again. “I get that i’m just your neighbour but I can’t keep acting like I can’t see there’s something wrong.“
“There is nothing wrong!” Bucky’s tone is sharp, not quite shouting but no longer calm.
Your eyes snap open, training on the clench of his jaw, the sole hint of any emotion on his face.
“I’m dealing with it. So you need to stop acting like you know me because you don’t.”
And there it goes. The worry in your chest morphs into regret. Regret for bringing it up, regret for thinking you could help, regret for hearing his screams in the first place.
“Okay”
Bucky hates how timid your voice is, barely loud enough over the ringing of his own heartbeat. That and the voice in his head telling him he’s a piece of shit. He wishes he could take it all back but he doesn’t know how to, so he decides that silence is better than opening his damn mouth and making things worse.
The pair of you sit there in silence, one that’s far less comfortable than before, and stare at the ceiling, waiting for help to arrive.
When it does, you count your lucky stars that the lift stopped just at the doors to the second floor. Bucky helps the crew pull the doors open enough for you both to climb through. You feel his blue eyes on you as you wait for them to stabilise the lift, avoiding his gaze at all costs.
“Okay, Ma’am,” One of the firefighters calls, the name ‘Rogers’ written on his jacket, “we need you guys to climb up here and we’ll pull you out.”
Your eyes widen at the thought of pulling yourself up there, suddenly very aware of your frankly appalling upper body strength.
Rogers catches the hesitation on your face. “Don’t worry, Buck will help you up so you can get out first”
Turning to look at your neighbour, you lock eyes for the first time in ten minutes. His lips are turned into an awkward half smile, changing his entire demeanour from one of a brooding firefighter to a sheepish kid.
You don’t know how long the pair of you stand there staring at each other, but it’s long enough for Roger’s to clear his throat in attempt to regain your attention.
Bucky steps closer to you while the crew get ready above you. “You okay with this, doll?”
You nod, “As long as this thing doesn’t fall while i’m half way through and snap my body in half, i’m good”
That heartwarming laugh fills your ears and the firefighter shakes his head in amusement. At least he doesn’t hate you enough to leave you to get out on your own.
“Well lucky for you, that ain’t gonna happen”
You roll your bottom lip between your teeth. “Okay, how is this gonna work?”
Bucky moves to stand below the gap, facing you. He lowers himself down to one knee before reaching for your hand.
His skin is warm but rough, gentle but strong as he pulls you closer to him. The unexpected tug on your hand sends you tumbling toward him, your right hand bracing yourself on his shoulder to regain your balance while his free hand lands on your hip.
You mumble an apology, flustered at the intense heat beneath his hands and the way Bucky is looking up at you.
“You good?” He asks, voice dripping with awe, though you’re oblivious to the admiration, still plagued by the way he shut you down earlier.
When you nod, Bucky removes his hand from your hip and taps his knee. “You’re gonna step on my knee, then on my shoulder and you then should be close enough for Steve to grab you and pull you out”
“Are you sure? I don’t want to hurt you” You admit, nervous at the thought of letting Bucky take your body weight on his shoulders.
He looks up at you through his lashes “Do you trust me, sweets?”
“Yes” You reply, not even having to think about it. There may be some walls between you, but you know he’s on the other side, waiting.
“Good, then get up here”
Bucky shouts up to the crew that he’s giving you a boost now and after hearing them shout back that they’re ready, you place your foot on Bucky’s knee and push yourself up.
“Don’t drop me” You warn, reaching up to the gap in preparation.
“Wouldn’t dream of it”
And with that, you climb onto your neighbours shoulders and stretch up for Steve to grab your hands.
Along with Bucky pushing your feet up, Steve pulls you out and you slide through the gap until you’re free of that god forsaken elevator.
“Well thank fuck for that” You groan, spread across the floor on your back, making the crew laugh.
You barely have time to recover before Bucky is stood above you, having lugged himself out with ease.
“Guess you won’t be forgetting to set your alarm again, ay?”
