I felt implicitly tagged by @lilypheria. Here's the template too.
It may seem like I only write KnB these days but I don't consider myself to be done with my SPOP comics yet.
Tagging all my writer friends but I'm going to mention @active-mind-15 because you're kind of new to me. But I really want to hear about all my writer mutuals and followers. By the way if you've written one unfinished fic or tried to start to write your ideas but can't, or haven't written for years, or have any other struggle that makes you feel invalid, you count as a writer.
Going to elaborate under the cut because I felt like it.
My old account was FinFanFun, a Finnish site I used mostly for reading Facebook wall fics about that which should not be named.
AO3 is where I publish my KnB fics though I've considered branching out to see if there's still some fandom corners I haven't reached.
I'm slowly introducing myself to writing smut but the only story I've published has been called mild and soft smut or smut-ish, and I doubt the rest will be much different.
I frequently beta-read for friends, though fanfiction is the minority.
I used to have two beta-readers but they're unable to do it anymore so all my fics rely solely on me for now, which makes me really anxious sometimes. I am pretty desperate for a new beta-reader so if KagaKuro and a million words of "homework" doesn't frighten you, please jump into an adventure with me!
All my fics are self-indulgent in that they're what I want to see play out in the story. They are not personal fantasies, or necessarily what I want to see in real life, but it's what I envision for these characters.
I'm always reading old favourite fics again and I need to branch out actually.
If I'm in need of a short fic to read I will probably pick fluff.
Have written m/m and f/f (and m/? and m/f) but honestly it's weird to put them in the same category when m/m is so overrepresented.
I'm not actually sure if I consider fanfiction as a genre or rather a medium, because all genres exist inside fanfiction. Medium is probably more true but I seem to have checked it anyway because I feel like the point here is whether fanfiction is valid literature and that it is.
I don't know if two fandoms with one being dormant would be considered multifandom so maybe no.
I do anxiously wait for feedback since I'm very community oriented but I'm also very introverted and internally motivated so the lack of it doesn't discourage me. I have patience and I can wait for connection for years and years. Not that lack of connection doesn't affect me, of course it does, but giving up is just a very antithetical concept to my beliefs and life.
I have one on-going long KnB story and one unfinished She-Ra fic that is waiting for a better time. Which is an exception since I tend to finish what I start before moving on.
Editing fanfiction is actually not as bad as editing original fiction because I put much less pressure on myself, partially because you can always edit your fic again.
Always listening to hours long conversations in my head between characters when I'm trying to sleep. They're really bad at shutting up and I'm supposed to remember this stuff in the morning?
I was mildly drunk for ten days straight to write Anything Can Happen. Haven't done that since but it was really fun.
My main KnB storyline gets most of my attention. It's just my thing, I pour everything into it.
I didn't check 'wants to be a professional writer' because after three traditionally published books I consider myself to be that already. I actually went the other way around than seems to be the norm: I was an original fiction writer first and then branched out to fanfiction in my twenties. I can see it greatly affects how I write fic, and it's probably the main reason I feel like a bit of an outsider.

Will you ever upload your more recent fanfics to AO3 (in FIN or ENG)? I always want to read your stuff (by way of a translator lol), but FinFanFun is inaccessible for those without accounts. No pressure, of course!
My English skills are too limited to translate, but I have gone back and fort considering posting all the Finnish ones. I have written about 80 Jago & Litefoot fics, I would explode the category on AO3 xD
But there few complicating factors: I don't necessarily remember details of my writings enough to accurately tag - and reading my old work may trigger self-worth issues.
Another thing entirely is that Finnish fanfiction - or creative writing online in general - is an incredibly narrow subculture. There's more Finnish people reading AO3 than FinFanFun at this point - but Finnish is not well tolerated language even amongst other Finnish speakers in the big picture of fandom. Especially in my little niche of niche of sex and violence xDDD
TL:DR, I have thought about it a lot, but it comes with complicated feelings and risk of public humiliation.
Thanks for asking a lot :D

I've been a tintin fan for as long as I can remember
read the comics at grandparents', watched the cartoon, all that fun stuff. my school's library even had the comics in french so I read those whenever I had to study french but couldn't be assed
really liked the 2011 movie too^^
haddotin was an accident xD I clicked open a fic in finnish fic forum finfanfun and had the biggest "oh. oh." moment xD the fic even had links to some really nice fanart and the rest is history
So, how did you start to being Tintin and haddotin's fans? I'm curious.
In my case is all @dimdiamond fault, 👀 I have proofs.

Nyt sitrus-skaalan trendatessa mulle on noussu pintaan supressioituja muistoja
Ensimmäisen kerran kuulin yaoista yhden Harry Potter testin kautta. Totta kai googlailu johti vanhaan kunnon FinFanFuniin ja
Sinä, joka kirjoitit hautamontun pohjalle sijoittuvan Drarry ficin
Tuhosit mun vielä silloin lähes viattoman mielen
Shout out myös Dumbledoren villasukka-ficcien, Hautuumaahuvien ja Hagrid/Baby!Harry kirjoittajille

Jaahas. Finillä on jotain mua vastaan.
//edit

Tunteita voi olla, mutta kommentti on vain yksilauseinen “this was good!” tai “I like this” ilman mitään erittelyä tai luetun pohdintaa.

i’ve already been very annoyed at the state of netflix’s subtitles - i once watched how to train your dragon in swedish with swedish subtitles and the dub didn’t match with them at all - but when i’m watching a swedish show spoken in swedish and there are NO SWEDISH SUBTITLES AT ALL it’s kind of starting to piss me off. there’s options of german and arabic and finnish and two types of english subtitles but no swedish. i’m not saying those other language options shouldn’t be here, leaving swedish out just makes absolutely no sense (swedish literally is one of the two official languages of finland and once again the show itself is in swedish) and also i’m trying to learn this language and the subtitles would be a lot of help
#rant#i'd also very much like to learn german and arabic but swedish is the one language i'm actually required to learn and can't leave out#(i'm not counting english here now because i'm already alright)#and i really need to learn it but i can hardly find any good ways to learn it that don't take too much energy#when i knew english the amount i know swedish now i watched pokemon in english with subtitles on#and then frozen at some point#and then httyd and then more and more stuff#and i also read short harry potter headcanons and shitpost in english and slowly moved on to fanfic and books#but it's hard to do that with swedish because netfix's subtitles are full of shit and there's a lot less fanfiction in swedish than english#so it's harder to find appealing ones#or maybe i'm just bad at looking maybe there's a site like the finnish fanfiction forum thing finfanfun which is barely alive now though#idk#sorry if none of this makes sense i'm just very very annoyed and also a bit tired#i should probs name the show it's very good#it's tapaus in finnish netflix#and it says fallet in the intro thing so i think that's the swedish/original name of the show#i liked the show a lot#i thought since my parents chose it it would be too serious for me like luther seemed to be but there was black humor and neat characters#and there were a few jokes about finland and it warms my heart that swedes do the same to us as we do to them#we ended up binging the show in a single day#good family time

I Just You
I Just You | General Audiences | 814
Summary: When Draco got used to waking up in Harry's dreadful, screaming red sheets.
This fic (or this is rather just a short and unplotty scribble) is actually some sort of experiment for me. I had a short-ish phase a few months ago when I only listened to music in Swedish, and then I also started to feel like writing something short in that language, and thus this story was born. As it’s quite easy to guess, this fic is originally written in Swedish, and it’s vaguely inspired by Swedish music. It's quite experimental both translation and writing wise as I've never tried to write anything quite this abstract and in second person POV before. I’m also not a translator but I do like translating and language stuff in general, and that’s why I wanted to try to translate this story also into English and Finnish. All the versions are slightly different from one another, and I didn’t even try to translate this from word to word as I don’t think that would be even possible. Anyhow, this was a nice fic to write in all these languages, and I hope it's also an enjoyable read! :)

I was tagged by @sisiljan to do this one so yee :)
Name: jossujb
Fandoms: Supernatural, Doctor Who, Jago & Litefoot, Star Trek, I actually write just about anything. J&L is my main tho.
Where you post: at FinFanFun
Most popular multi-chapter: I haven’t written all that many multichapters ever, and the ones that I have are the least favorite. Maybe my recently ended drabble series “Mitä sitten kuuluu?” counts as a favorite, as though it didn’t get comments on it’s own thread, I know that more than one person has read it xD
Fic you were most nervous to post: I tend to a lot of stress about most of the texts that I post. Lately I was really nervous about several fics that dealt with pedophilia, and did some crossdressing kink that I felt like people have a lot of room to misunderstand. I cried myself to sleep with a rather G-rated fluff fic where two preteens have a crush on each other, mostly I just imagine the worst and and I am always so surprised that nobody cared enough to even get mad xD
How do you choose your titles: I do try to use something that actually comes up in the text itself, an object that recurs or a line that is said, but if I can’t think of anything else, I usually quote something.
Do you outline: Not really.
Complete: I have posted 398 fics, I think abot 390 of those are finished.
In progress: I have few on on going, but the one that I work as my primary right now is a fic about molestation and rape and I am not really feeling well about it.
Coming but not soon: I don’t really wanna talk about projects I have on going, because that’s a guaranteed way of me never getting them done.
Do you accept prompts?: I dunno, maybe. I have taken prompts sometimes, but nobody really benefits from it.
Up coming story you are most excited to write: I did recently start a fic where I would finally reveal where the baby came in the Jago & Litefoot baby!AU, and I am just excited about knowing myself if Lula was like alien made or mpreg or what the heck. But I don’t really know where it is going at the moment.
Up coming story you are most excited to read: Well, I do read few on going stories on FinFanFun, one called Nimileikki is one I rather interested. I kinda read little these days cos I feel such strong feelings of insecurity when compared to others you know :)

Taidan palata asiaan huomenna.

How many of the Fic Writer Asks would you like to answer? What about 1, 3, 11, 18 and/or 20?
thank you !! 💕🌻 i’m more than happy to answer all five of these 🙏
1. Describe yourself how you would describe a character you’re introducing
“Can you? Please silence the goddamn phone?” Roosa asked her sister. “I’m trying to study.”
She was, of course, not studying. All of the scientific articles were laying on her table, several feet away from the bed she was sitting on with her laptop. Studying wasn’t really her style. What her style was, was...
Well.
Dirty glasses sitting on her oily nose, an over-sized men’s flannel, socks with a couple of holes in them, and - to put the whole Look together - dirty hair in a tiny, dirty bun.
A useless lesbian in her natural habitat - binge watching Hayley Kiyoko music videos instead of learning how in hell regression analysis works.
...so I guess her style could be called a timeless classic?
3. What is your absolute favorite kind of fic to write?
as much as i love my fluffy and funny romcoms, the best things to write are the pieces that get a little more.....artsy? idk if that’s the right word for it, but i like playing around with the structure of the writing, repeating words and phrases and so on. i’m still a thirteen-year-old kid writing corny poems in the woods at heart
examples of this kind of fics are:Words and Intentions (yuri on ice, fem viktuuri)In the Moments In-between (fantastic beasts and where to find them, crewt)Stronger (check please, zimbits)
11. Weirdest thing you’ve ever written/thought about writing/etc.?
how badly i’m freaking everyone if i tell that i once wrote a hp fic about voldemort’s teen years in diary form & there was some background minerva mcgonagall/giant squid going on? and i think i once wrote a hetalia fic about naked skiing contest?? aaand if we’re going off the fic lane, i wrote an erotic story about a leather couch and a oaken closet on my confirmation camp??? so. like. there’s been some weird stuff, definitely.
18. How old were you when you started writing?
i must have been writing some stories before that, but when i was like nine or ten, there were these sites on the internet where you “adopted” some cute creature and told stories about your life with them and then the mods gave you ‘money’ and/or points and you could ‘buy’ stuff like food or clothes or toys with them. then i evolved to the millions of magical schools that were based on hogwarts/were hogwarts where you also wrote stories about your (character’s) life and got money and points for your house etc etc.
then - through some magical school or other site like this i found the one true finnish harry potter fanfiction forum, finfanfun, when i was twelve i think and... well. that was the proper start of my fanfiction journey, even tho those magical school stories could probably be counted as fanfiction
20. 4 sentences from your work that you’re proud of
one:”Do you ever feel like you can't breath right? Like you get oxygen, but not enough?”
two:Fili had assumed that familiar automatically meant safe too, but after four weeks of freedom, he noticed it meant unnerving.
three:Fili couldn't help laughing, not even when crying made his laughter sound like he was drowning.
four:And he even got just the right amount of oxygen.
from The Art of Searching for Yourself (the hobbit, modern au) which i’m still ridiculously proud of, after almost two years
#aaa seriously thank u!! these were so nice#even if the first was hard asdfghjkl#ask game#triskaidekaphilist#answers
