Thinking about how, throughout hollow knight, the pale king is built up as this larger-than-life figure.
His words are the first you see outside of basic mechanic info like how to hit things. His visage is EVERYWHERE, from the signs to the fences to the windows.
His palace is gone and it’s presented as this mystery. It isn’t one that can be solved, but you see this hole, this toppled guard, and you wonder: what *happened* here?
For king beloved, Lurien says.
The White Lady’s love for this man, given in the form of a charm.
King’s idols, the devotion of the people.
But when you finally find him, he’s so *small.* The blinding light we were told of is dim, almost gone completely. He’s small, sad, pathetic, slumped over dead on his chair, and completely alone.
This is a sad, broken man who has lost everything. His kingdom, his wife, his children by his own hand, and all for nothing.
We don’t know what happened to him in the end, but we can get an idea of how he felt and what his end means for the narrative. From a storytelling standpoint, the buildup to the pale king’s reveal is incredible.
It’s both world building and foreshadowing, because the pale king is as much of a set piece as he is a character. He haunts the narrative (guys look it’s my favorite trope) and it’s done so well.
I had a point with this, but I don’t remember it. I just… think about him. I think about him a lot

Editing my Dreamers' Houses essay and my goodness, it made me realize how much fight is still left in the Dreamers.
Herrah is all spent, only thinking about her daughter. Unfortunately, there isn't anyone else except Midwife in the Distant Village.
Why?
All the Weavers decided that being Infected, losing your mind while your body attacks anything that moves, was worse than literal slavery. Only those most devoted to Herrah remained...and all of them got infected.
Monomon has no fight...except to argue with Lurien. But have you considered that she has nothing left to fight for?
There is literally NO ONE in her Archives except her infected Uummu, Uomas, and Oomas. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HER STUDENTS IS DEAD BEFORE THE GAME EVEN STARTED. Except Quirrel. Quirrel whom she calls back to finally rest.
Lurien has the most fight...and yes, the Spire doesn't have a single known person still themselves in the Infection. But what about Lurien's whole City?
Yes, yes, the noble side is completely Infected and the Soul Master kidnapped and drained more than half of the citizens belonging to the left side of the City, BUT there are still free people!
The Nailsmith! Eternal Emilitia! Even Lemm, a newcomer to his City! And goodness, the Collector! And grubbies. Can't forget the grubs.
If you go down a bit further, then there's Orgrim, Tuk, and the Fluke Hermit!
Lurien still has people! People with Names! Hopes! And Dreams free from the Radiance!
And if you expand Lurien's care from the City to Hallownest (which isn't a stretch considering how Lurien is so patriotic for his kingdom) then every free bug in Hallownest is his too.
Now here's a question, does Lurien still care about his butler who is Infected? About every single of his servants and friends under the Radiance's spell? If so, what about every captured citizen of Hallownest?
If so, then Lurien is fighting for them too, just like we do for Myla. Fighting and Hoping against Hope itself that they all can be saved one day.
This came as no surprise to me. What knocked me out was realizing that Monomon's efforts were for nothing. Becoming a Dreamer for her students and keep Hallownest united only for everyone to die anyway??? No wonder she was done.

How would being a dreamer feel like? Would Lurien have known that Holly wasn't pure right when he was used as a seal, and would he have seen the downfall of Hallownest? Or would he have been in a dreamlike state and wonder why the hell he has woken up and everything is in ruin?
No, I don't think he'd know, the dreamlike state you mentioned is closer to what I imagine. I tend to think he was quite confused after he woke up. Very similar to what FPK experienced, there would be a lot of "what happened" and "how long has it been" going through his mind. His butler would be equally as confused since the infection would finally leave their mind. So I imagine they'd both spend the next few days figuring out the situation together, the damage done to the city, and a possible plan of action for bringing it back to its prime.
Though there is the fact that the Dreamers seemed aware of Ghost's actions in the game, so perhaps he would have some awareness of the situation? Probably only small glimpses that wouldn't give him much of an idea anyway, I still like the idea of him being a little confused following his sudden awakening.

Hi I come bringing asks of the favorite Lurimol
Give me a day in the life with them! What’s their routine like, small things they do for the other etc
Thank you so much for the ask !!! Lurimol beloved...
Their schedules are something I think about a lot, especially while they are both at the height of their careers. I don't have any specific times, but to start off:
Hegemol always wakes up first.
His duty as a knight has him start the day before the city awakens, much to Lurien's often-dismay. The two of them share a bed in Lurien's spire once they become official, and try as he might, Hegemol always wakes poor Lurien up as he shuffles off of it. If there isn't a protesting mumble, there's usually a hand reaching out toward Heg. Said hand is taken like a proper lord's and kissed on the back of it, though this only seems to drive Lurien further into the pillows.
Hegemol gets himself ready within an hour. He's a morning shower kinda guy; helps with his joint pain and wakes him up for the day. Aedmond, Lurien's butler, usually has some form of breakfast ready for him by the time he's done. (Heg insists Aedmond doesn't have to do this, Aedmond claims it's little problem, and by taking care of Heg he is taking care of his lord in turn.) Hegemol's favorite breakfast is a strawberry-clementine salad with poppyseed dressing.
Hegemol's duties for the day usually see him out of the spire, and can vary from day to day. During the start of their relationship, he'd have been training the Watcher Knights day in and day out, while also making the occasional patrol around his city. Hegemol and Lurien's schedules very rarely cross during the day.
Lurien, on the other hand... Aedmond is lucky if he can see his Lord awake before 2pm. Lurien is a night owl to the extreme, and often isn't going to sleep until around 4-5am (and even then, typically at the request of either butler or beloved.) Lurien refuses to schedule any appointments before 3pm, and if he has to get up before 2 for your stupid meeting, you *will* hear about it. Despite frequently working himself into insomniac episodes, Lurien is Hallownest's biggest grump if his sleep is interrupted.
Lurien's day starts with a cup of green tea in bed, double-steeped, and delivered by his faithful Aedmond who always seems to know when Lurien is finally shifting awake. (He'll never tell his lord it's because one of the bedposts rests on a loose shell board so he can hear it move.)
This cup of tea in the morning is considered VITAL to Lurien's routine and if he does not get it you can consider the day lost lmfao. Strong green tea is the only way this bug wakes up.
Finally, once he's finished his tea and no sooner, Lurien is awake enough to stand, stretch, and make his way to his private bath. He always bathes in the evenings before bed, as warm water puts him to sleep (and Wyrm help you if you splash this man with cold water). Lurien's routine is far more intensive than Hegemol's is on days where he doesn't have to be anywhere. He will polish his carapace, file his claws and spurs, trim his bristles, wax his antennae, among other grooming and upkeep before he's ready to dress himself for the day.
Lurien's wardrobe is actually quite expensive despite appearing to only wear the same few sets of robes to the public. For a regular day with only a few meetings, his usual attire in layer order is:
A thin, long-sleeved white or black shirt with matching pants.
A long-sleeved white collared shirt, usually with some form of ruffled lace at the neck.
An embroidered waistcoat or tailcoat (custom tailored to also act as compression vests)
Black elbow-length gloves on all four of his hands, made from supple leather and padded slightly on the inside to minimize contact.
Black leg bindings and stockings, depending on if he is traveling or not. Lurien is still an old bug, and binding his lower legs helps reduce his aches.
A black silk cloak, the first of his outer robes
His usual sleeved blue cloak (in-game one, pre-tattered)
Often a draped hood with the city's crest.
And finally, his mask.
Usually, he will have his meal with Aedmond before he puts on his outer robes. Aedmond and Lurien are close friends despite their working relationship, and this is their time to catch up on the general goings-on. Lurien's 'breakfast' can vary, but his favorite is a seared vengefly steak and belfly egg quiche with an aluba roe garnish. Aedmond is content with an apricot salad.
Finally, Lurien's day is started. Because he wakes up so late, Lurien's window of time for scheduled meetings runs far longer than most city or royal officials. He will attend hearings, lectures, council meetings, and host his own between the hours of 4pm to midnight, with the hours of 9pm-12am almost exclusively being used for audiences at the spire. Lurien keeps odd hours because of his own destroyed sleep pattern, but also so the working class bugs of Hallownest can have a chance at his attention without risking time or geo.
Hegemol will often head back to his own apartment after he's finished with the day's work to get out of his armor, tidy it, and take a brief-but-effective shower to get all the sweat and grime off. When Lurien is booked, he'll use this time to steal a 1-2 hour nap in his own house, before returning to the spire once he's sure all of Lurien's meetings would be over.
Night is really their 'time.' Hegemol will get back sore from his toils, Lurien will always have tea ready (tea that he will make himself, as he always insists Aedmond stop 'serving' at a reasonable hour), or perhaps some sweet wine and brandy, and they will be happy to sit together or soak together in Lurien's private bath. A lot of their more romantic interactions are these small moments that they can steal away from the world, a lot of their love language is through just. quality time spent together. Hegemol almost always falls asleep if they're in the bath together, and Lurien will let him, only occasionally reaching over to keep the big beetle's head from falling into the water. He'll wake him when he's ready to get out.
Date nights can vary, but they still are done during ungodly hours of the night. Sometimes, Lurien will set up a series of wider lenses stemming from his telescope, so they can watch a pleasure house performance together from the spire. They'll take date nights in Hegemol's family's candy shop long after-hours (and once Heg's family catches on, they start leaving him and 'whoever his beloved is' dishes to reheat in the icebox). Sometimes, they'll clamber up to the roof of the spire and look out over the city. It's always something simple with them; their daily lives are filled with pomp and show just on the basis of their positions, but when they are together? They prefer the mundane.
Aedmond always makes them a feast for their anniversary though :>

Tears of the Kingdom - Plot Ending Thoughts
Alright, I've officially finished the main story line of Tears of the Kingdom. I still have a lot to do in the game so I'll still be playing for a while, but I can finally focus on other things (yay!) and I can finally talk about what I thought of it!
My general and non-spoilery thoughts are: I think it was okay, the ending battle in particular felt very grand. What bugs me most about the story is not necessary what it did but more what it didn't do.
EDIT: Now with the Ganondorf Problem
The Fifth Sage
I go back and fourth about Mineru and what I think. Some of you probably saw my post where I was PRAYING for a plot twist and all of my hopes were hanging on her for my plot twist. Instead, she's not the sage of shadow, but the sage of spirit. I'm really glad that the sages got brought back, especially because you ended up with a team that can help you fight. They also changed some of the names to better fit the abilities of the sages which... I'm not super psyched about it. I mean, They got rid of shadow altogether!
Mineru is an okay character. I think she has a pretty good design, she has the whole 'trying to atone for what happened thing' but I feel like it could've been presented a little stronger. I'm not huge on the construct that goes places with you, it feels so weird compared to all the spirits you have hanging around you. It does fit in well with the constructs you've been seeing around, I guess. I'm also really surprised that the sheikah don't come up at all, considering they have an eye motif and the Zonai have a strong eye motif.
(Quickly back to Mineru, I love Zelink but I feel like there was at least a little moment between Mineru and Zelda lol)
I also find it a little strange that there are more or less five sages. I know there's technically seven, and Link does have all seven if you could the time power from Zelda and the arm from Rauru, but it still feels weird to me.
Like I said before, my biggest problem with the story is what is not done. I realize this is somewhat a 'me' problem, Nintendo can't anticipate the expectations of a single person.
Which lead to my tangent for the Fifth Sage section:
Fifth Sage Twists I Would've Liked Better
Mineru ended up betraying Rauru, at least in the past. It would've been a better set up I think for why she was so insistent on redeeming herself for making up for past transgressions
Mineru passes on the secret stone to someone else
Paya ends up being the fifth sage - get some Sheikah rep in there, and she also doesn't ahve much to do in this story at all
Tauro ends up being the fifth sage - I think he's Lurien, which are somewhat associated with the Zonai, and also I think he's interesting enough it would've been fun to have a new character
Before I close out this section, I will say that I am very happy there was a fifth sage at all. It looked like there would be, but also, considering only the four areas were highlighted, I wouldn't have been surprised if it ended at the four, other than the fact that it left Link without a ring on his middle finger.
Finding Zelda
I really liked that throughout the game, the search for Zelda is ongoing and constant. Not only do you get the feeling that Link is concerned, you understand that everyone is very concerned.
I figured out the twist to who Zelda was about 3/4 of the way through the tears, but it was still SO good to be rewarded by being right, the final tear made me cry especially when you wake up from it surrounded by the silent princesses. It also meant that I could visit her whenever I wanted <3 It does feel a little silly at times after that when people are still going 'where's zelda?' but you know the whole time, and Link himself clearly knows as well, but I also get it.
Yiga
I don't have much to say here. The Yiga are fine. I like that Kohga was in the Depths because he fell down the big hole. Tracking them down in the depths isn't that big of a deal, and I did all of it before I actually hit the point in the game where they explicitly tell you to go there. I've had most fun with the Yiga side quest where you get the uniform and go do their base.
Final Boss Ganondorf
I made it down to the final boss chamber pretty early on in the game, after Rito village, because I wanted to get past the bombable walls you see in the beginning. I teleported out of there as soon as it became clear this was the final boss area.
I love that at one point, you get deep enough below Hyrule Castle that the sages stop showing up and you're on your own; it sets the atmosphere greatly and makes it so perfectly spooky. I think the enemy rush is great, though it probably would've gone better if I was better at utilizing the sages powers. Having you get separated from them because they have to fight the other bosses on their own was also okay by me as a reason to get them away from you.
The battle with Ganondorf was good! It was a struggle, and for a while I thought I wasn't going to make it and would need to regroup and come back with better supplies. And then he eats the secret stone and also becomes a dragon and you're caught in his teeth?!?!
The final fight against Dragon Ganondorf is so good!!! I think his design is great, he's so BIG, and it's not htat hard of a fight, but for a third phase of a final boss, I think that's fine. it's not about being hard at that point, in my opinion, it's about feeling really awesome as you're flying through the air, climbing on dragons, and beating up the weak points. Zelda coming to help you out, even as a dragon, was perfect. It felt like we were really working together to do this.
And then, when you're falling, and you finally catch her this time, just like you failed to do before?!?! The ending is SO SO GOOD!!!
My only problem is I wish that Link's arm was gone, still Rauru-ified, or at the very least scarred from what happened to him.
The Ganondorf Problem
This seems like as good a place of any to talk about my thoughts on Ganondorf. For years, fans have been begging for a nuanced Ganondorf, like Wind Waker but better! This... is not that. This Ganondorf is evil looking, almost comically evil in the memory cutscenes, and I'll be honest, it was pretty disappointing. Without changing up the plot entirely, there are two ways I think they could've made this Ganondorf at least a little bit better of a character.
They make him charismatic. Ganondorf as a man who knows how to manipulate people in order to get what he wanted. You can at least see or buy Ganondorf as someone that people may trust, or who can trick people.
He's doing it for his people. See yourself as Ganondorf, first Gerudo Male in a hundred years, already burdened with great purpose, and now the Kingdom of Hyrule exists with god-like power and is growing fast. So you do what you can to get that power so you can save your people, and then maybe he got lost in the lust for power along the way.
Ending Cutscene
The ending cutscene seemed to be mostly a big send off for Mineru, which felt weird. Again I don't have a huge problem with her, and I'm glad she got to pass on, but I don't think it really warranted such a big part of the scene?
Again, here I thought Mineru would pass on her secret stone to Purah, but she didn't.
I liked all the sages swearing their loyalty to Hyrule and Zelda, that was nice, but I don't know. It just felt like it was missing a little something to me. What? Hard to say.
Last Thoughts
These last thoughts are going to be mostly problems I had, so I want to start it by saying that I loved this game! There's so much to do, it's so distinct from Breath of the Wild while also still being a sequel. Having played Breath of the Wild, I was able to explore Hyrule again, and I loved going back to places that I had been before and seeing what had changed about them. I'll be playing this game for a while :D
The Zonai were... hm, well I liked them over all... I think? I liked their designs, but I wished we got to learn more about them or see more than just Rauru and Mineru.
There's a lot of talk about the imprisoning war and people coming from the sky, so I thought there's be more connection to Skyward Sword, but there was hardly any, and I'll admit I was a little disappointed. We come to the whole 'zelda timeline theory' 'problem' here, which is that this worked more like a parallel to the events of skyward sword than a reference. Ultimately, I view the Zelda Timeline as a lense through which to view Zelda, not canonical but also something that still holds weight to how you consume Zelda. That being said, I was really REALLY hoping for Skyward Sword stuff to be prominent.
I wish there was a stronger second act or some kind of plot twist. You visit each region only once really, and it would've been much better if you ended up having to visit all of them again for some reason or other.
The names for the secret stones sucked and I think there should've been a different name for them.
The game focused a lot on Rauru. This is another thing that I can't decide whether it bothers me or not. It takes a step away from the the triforce and the goddesses. Considering the focus on Hylia Breath of the Wild had, this is probably a good thing. Still, at times it felt like the Rauru game instead of the Zelda game. However, Rauru is an interesting character and i liked learning more about him.
Again, over all, I like the game! It feels weird to say this a week after the game came out, but it makes me excited for future Zelda games and where they'll go from there. Really hoping for a 2D Zelda between now and the next one :)
I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on the game!

Chapter 6: Fireworks
Featuring @wizblr-blue-moon-ball's Lurien once more, and mentioning @flowers-the-sun-witch.
Time spun past and twirled through the air. The crowd of dancers had thinned slightly, so the dances had changed to mainly large group-oriented affairs, with much fewer couples routines. The food must have energized him, because Hemi was able to keep up with the rapid pace despite the ever-later hour of the night. The cats danced around each other, but not yet with each other -- both had an intuitive feeling that there would be some kind of great final dance at some point that they would need to be together for. Indeed, as the hour moved from three to four, an only-slightly overtired Lurien appeared at the bannister a second time, much as he had when the ball began. The music faded off, and then he started to speak.
“Esteemed guests! The hour is drawing late. We have prepared a final surprise for all of you. If you would please make your way to the atrium, then follow the signage to the newly opened sky garden. Please bring any spellcasting equipment you have handy.”
Excited murmurs crowded the air.
“A sky garden?! They had a sky garden the whole time and didn’t tell us?” Liam sounded actually betrayed. The two of them joined the stream of magi on their way through the great halls once more. The huge banners, the portraits, the tapestries, all were left behind as the guests made their way up a grand spiral staircase. A blue carpet had been laid along the path, but even without it the will of the crowd was impossible to misunderstand.
“I wonder if it’ll be some kind of firework show?” Hemi mused to a stranger beside him.
“But then why’d they ask us to bright our spell foci? I bet it’ll be a brawl.”
Liam shook his head. “No way! It’s a garden, they probably just want to make sure it would be perfect for us. Maybe they put some sort of special decorations for the guests or something?” These and other likely or dubious ideas cluttered the atmosphere, until finally, everyone reached the doors to the sky garden.
In reality, the ‘sky garden’ was something of a cross between a balcony, the roof, and a summoning circle. Twelve gold-capped plinths were joined by a great rune circle embedded into the stone that formed the ground. Hyacinths, daisies, tulips, and a wide variety of bloomless plants that Hemi could not identify (but he thought maybe Liam could) grew from planters chiseled into the ground. At the center, Lurien stood atop a starburst of lunar sapphire that glowed in the night and hummed quietly with contained power. Precisely as many seats as there were guests still present were arranged in a circle within the ritual space between the plinths; the whole place was big enough that even with that many attendees, there were no issues sitting down. Flowers the Sun Witch took a place next to Liam, and the Goddess of Renewed Life Mai perched beside Hemi.
“In this place, long ago, on a night when the blue moon shone, Mistress Areth Lunacai channeled her power into raising this whole place skyward. Everything that has since been built onto the property was possible only due to that act of magic. Now the moon shines blue again. Wizards, warlocks, denizens of the arcane, I call upon you -- to look under your seat.”
Some shuffling, followed by confused or surprised whispers, carried on the thin air. Hemi bent down and noticed that, indeed, there was a small scroll left under his seat. Liam had instead been given a small talisman with the emblem of the moon. Hemi opened and examined it right away, and found that it was an invocation -- an invitation for arcane power to be released, and an encoded rule for how to channel it. It was quite elegantly done, actually.
“Those of you identified as wizards will have received a copy of a channeling spell, and those who did not have been given a bound focus. Beneath me--” Lurien tapped his foot. “We have prepared a spell that will set the sky alight. It will be your job to direct that light with the spell or focus you have been provided. Express yourself in your power, and help me truly celebrate the arcane!”
Lurien stepped back, and put his hands together in front of him. The floor beneath him groaned and crackled as a spire of lightning rose from it. The light was almost frightening in ferocity. Liam clasped his hands around the talisman in his hand, and Hemi joined the rising choir of voices chanting the same spell. The air shook with power, words reinforcing words, until Lurien cast his hands to the sky, and the power became a pillar that streamed upward. As it traveled, branches of the light curled and broke off from the rest, and in these branches one could see the mages themselves expressed. As Liam’s head tilted, hundreds of glowing spheres appeared -- as he exhaled, the spheres were sent spiraling in wild patterns. Some branches shot far away in streaking comets -- others burst into chromatic blasts -- and others still grew in an expanding weave of colors that framed the moon. Hemi’s ears glowed and pulsed, and at his will, a fractal fracture appeared in space itself, growing and melding with all else above. As minutes passed, the sky immediately above the sky garden was overwhelmed with color and light.
With one final yell, Lurien detached the display from the mansion. Every guest lost their connection to the hypercomplex mass of light as it rose higher and began to break apart. As everyone took a breath of respite, the spell unfolded into a great interwoven structure that spread completely across the skies. Rivulets of power flowed in elaborate shapes; strands of ephemeral fabric wove together with vines and fragments that sparkled like diamond; the prismatic shapes of lovers danced until they melted into moonlight.
Hemi stole a moment to look at the leopard beside him, and to his surprise, Liam was looking at him, too. The rainbow light covered both of them in a strange, beautiful pattern. WIthout a word, the two of them blinked at each other slowly. A moment later, Hemi leaned forward, and the two kissed and embraced. In reflection, they were surely not the only two who did this, but neither was thinking of that in the moment. After a few stolen seconds, they turned back to the sky and saw the celestial diorama above them. Hemi noticed Liam’s orbs of light accentuating the stars, acting as props or clumping together into planets that others’ magic revolved about. Liam noticed that the tears in reality Hemi had made acted as bridges, allowing distant parts of the weave to connect together as one.
And then, it was over. The light dispersed against the stars and the moon, and the emblem built into the sky garden was silent and dark. Some mages laid on the stones, seemingly exhausted, but Hemi and Liam’s hearts were both racing. The last fragments of the spell fluttered down as sparkling points that vanished as soon as they touched anything else.
When he returned to the center, Lurien’s wings did not glow quite as brightly, but he held himself together. “The ball will continue until sunrise.” He announced to anyone listening. “I hope your final hour with us is fulfilling. If any of you have your own musical skill, the floor is open to guest performances. It has been a wonderful joy to be your host tonight.” A simple sendoff to a spectacular night. The lynx and the leopard looked at eachother again. The leopard’s face bore something like fear, but he was also overjoyed. Hemi was, too. He sat back and looked onto the moon, by now close to the horizon, as if its cue had been given to leave. In a moment, Hemi would stand up, and the night would end, but not yet. For now he heard the people move and watched the stars overhead.
Two Cats Attend the Blue Moon Ball
Chapter 1: Dusk
Featuring @wizblr-blue-moon-ball's Lurien and @flowers-the-sun-witch, along with Hemi and Liam of course. This is the first chapter of probably several that I will make for some of the prompts. Character appearances will vary and can be removed on request!
A calm wind blew over Wizard Island Island’s coastal region, bringing a mild warmth over the old stones and dozens of pointy-hatted towers dotting the landscape. The sky was overcast, but it was clear despite this that the sun was near the horizon. The shimmering line of the ocean adorned the horizon. Along a path of well-trodden cobbles, the air bent and tore, until, with a burst of chromatic power, two felines landed onto the earth. Hemi, wreathed in the gentle fabric of his deep indigo dress, felt the lukewarm air suddenly about his legs until the dress behaved itself. The emblem of the moon was dim in the low light, but still plainly visible. Shortly behind him, Liam practically flowed out of the rift. His gown had the general design of the lunar hibiscus -- pink and, in Hemi’s opinion, somewhat bulbous, but still quite elegant. He held the corners of the dress in a way that suggested he had experience landing from a dimensional vortex in such attire. Once both cats exited the distortion, reality was quick to mend itself.
“Aha, we’re-- um.” Hemi looked around, then let his head tilt. “Where’s--”
They stood at the long-forgotten gates to a property that was seemingly completely absent. There was not a trace of any building -- in its place, an immense crater marred the landscape. The only thing that remained was a tarnished silver archway and a few mana crystals that poked out from the ground at the edges of the place.
Liam gasped. “Did something--?”
“Impossible. If something this big was -- gone, I’d have heard about it. Besides, that gate… must have been abandoned for a hundred years.” Hemi closed his eyes and tried to visualize the route on the invitation he’d been given, but he was certain it led to this general area, and there shouldn’t be any other large estate in the vicinity. Were all his days of anticipation really --
“Oh--! Hemi, look!”
Hemi opened his eyes to the sight of what looked like an angelic being descending through the clouds. He plummeted rapidly and then came to a sudden stop in the air just beyond the gate, not displacing any air or showing any discomfort in the process. An elf with radiant wings, blue into yellow, clothed in shining white silks. Despite his short stature, the elf had a golden power behind his eyes that commanded respect. The emblem of the Blue Moon shone in iridescent stone, adorning his crown.
“Greetings! Hyperlynx Hemi, I presume?” The elf spoke with a quiet tone that nonetheless carried through the emptiness. “I see you’ve found our ‘back entrance’.”
“Oh--! Um, hello, sir--?” Hemi stammered in response as both cats approached the gate.
“Lurien is fine. In any case, I’ve arranged transport for you and your partner. Please proceed through the gate.”
Hemi tilted his head to the opposite side and gazed into the spiky, terrifying chasm just beyond the rusted passage. “Um-- I ah, don’t have any flight spell active…” He glanced at Liam, who shook his head silently.
“That’s fine, sir. I assure you there are accommodations for all creatures at the Blue Moon Ball.” He looked down at some kind of brass handheld timekeeping device. “Although, I would insist you move swiftly. The event will be starting momentarily.”
Hemi huffed softly and looked to Liam, who took the lead. Liam gathered his gown about his feet and cautiously stepped through the gate. He half expected the world to suddenly burst into light and color around him, but no such thing happened. Instead, his foot met with a soft resistance, an invisible surface. It felt a bit like walking across a mattress. Seeing the leopard defy gravity, Hemi followed suit.
“Impressive spell, but where is--” Hemi was cut off when the platform was suddenly thrust skyward. The earth fell away, and waves of amber light emanated from the invisible surface above them as it blocked the wind. Lucien cracked a soft smile -- the emblem across his chest shimmered softly as the three beings were brought up. Even the clouds broke around the barrier above them, until--!
The sun, from its place ever-lower on the horizon, lavished golden light across a wondrous skyscape. A great layer of clouds the size of mountains formed the base, speckled with tiny sections of floating stone -- likely pieces of distant floating islands that came in the wind across the sea. Beyond the shelf of clouds, the light glinted on the water. Above it all, though, a grand estate was situated. The main island consisted of an immense floating mansion. In a way, it was almost more like a town  -- the lower section was something of a hull, with docking ports for flying ships and tiered gardens protruding from openings in its sides. Atop, the mansion sprawled across a massive expanse of once-natural earth, with what must have been hundreds of rooms and halls. Near the center, the peak of a wizard’s tower wis visible, adorned with the same lunar emblem.
Lucien watched the two cats take it all in as he platform moved in a grand circuit through the air above the venue. “Sunset really is wonderful at this altitude, isn’t it?” He noted. The light cast off everything, and the shadow of the floating manor lengthened forever across the clouds. Hemi took a moment to glance down at Liam, whose eyes were literally wide with wonder.
Their dutiful invisible chariot let them down in the plaza just before the main gates. It seemed nearly everyone else was already somewhere inside, since this courtyard was otherwise occupied only by a trio of gnomes who seemed to pay the cat-men no mind. Lucien directed their attention to a statue of a human woman, depicted 20 feet tall in marble stricken with veins of some shimmering blue mineral. Water flowed from small slots below the woman’s feet into small channels that fed this section of the gardens.
“This is the original owner of the manor, Mistress Areth Lunacai. It’s said she discovered the arcane properties of lunar sapphire, and therefore mastered the art of permanent levitation. In her time, her genius was not recognized, so she wrested her family’s estate into the skies, where it still remains.”
“Wow…” Liam looked up at her. Hemi, however, was already distracted by looking at the venue itself. As the light of dusk began to fade, Hemi crossed his arms over his chest.
“Lucien, sir?” He interjected. “Are we late for-- anything?”
Lucien raised an eyebrow. “You accuse me of being late to my own ball?”
“Um--! Well, no, I--”
The host smiled. “No, it’s understandable. You are actually somewhat early. While most attendees have made their way to the main hall and its waiting rooms, the formal schedule will not commence for half an hour at minimum. Plenty of time, no?” Hemi nodded and looked to the side. He thanked the gods for the impenetrably thick fur that hid his now-red cheeks from view, then took a deep breath. There was no great rush. This was an event for fun, after all. The sleepless night before preparing… the weeks of anticipation… It all led to this night, where everything was arranged for him. He walked closer beside Liam.
Lurien turned over his shoulder, towards a figure in a blue dress who had appeared amidst the gardens. “Ah, I see a new guest has arrived. Excuse me.” Lucien bowed and began to gracefully stride towards the newcomer.
“Hey Hemi, do you want to go meet them? The person over there, I mean?”
Hemi looked to the newcomer, then back at the red wisps of frozen clouds high above. “I think I’ll watch the sunset for now. You go ahead -- we’re all going to the main hall anyway, right?”
Liam nodded and followed Lurien’s path through the gardens as quickly as he could without letting any dirt get on his outfit. By the time he arrived, the host was already leading the other person back up a scenic route along the terrain’s edge towards the fountain. Their long brown hair -- adorned with red flowers -- was tied into a set of four pigtails that dangled about elven ears and onto the shoulders of a truly cute blue dress, tied with a red belt bearing a once-live sunflower. They looked up at the approaching beastman with only momentary confusion. Lucien, without even looking in Liam’s direction, nodded.
“I’ll allow you two a moment to become acquainted. There’s a matter I’ll need to attend to.” Lucien announced. A moment later, a great eagle flew dangerously close to the edge of the island and began circling the courtyard. Lucien sighed and, with a subtle movement of his wings, lifted off to redirect the bird’s rider.
“Oh gosh!” The witch put a hand against her mouth and giggled.
Liam shook his head. “Some people…” He turned his attention back to the immediate environs. “Well-- ah, greetings!” Liam gave a curtsy. “My name’s Liam.”
The witch returned the favor. “I’m Flowers, the Sun Witch. It’s nice to meet you! I like your dress.”
“Thank you~!” Liam twirled around a little. “Yours is very cute.”
The witch smiled, but didn’t reply verbally. The two watched for a moment as the now distant eagle followed Lucien -- from this range, a point of light -- towards the arcane beast stables on the lower levels. “I’ve not seen a dress of that style in a while. Lunar hibiscus, right?” Liam’s head tilted slightly. “How did you--”
“I don’t call myself ‘Flowers’ for no reason. The color’s pretty accurate, too. Though, those flowers are pretty rare on the island…”
“Ah, I’m not actually from here. I’m not even properly a wizard -- that title belongs to my partner. I’m his plus-one.”
“Oh!” Flowers looked along the rim of the floating landmass. “Is that him?” She pointed out Hemi, sitting alone on an outcropping, watching the redness leave the sky as night took over.
“Yeah…” Liam put his hand behind his head. “He’s a little shy. I’m sure he’ll warm up when things kick off.”
“Flowers nodded, then tapped her foot. “I hope the host is back soon… I hope everything’s alright with the bird situation.”
As if on cue, on a beam of light, Lucien appeared next to the two guests. “I apologize for the wait, Mx. Flowers. I hope you’ll forgive  my cutting your tour short for the moment, as the floor will open momentarily. I suggest you both make your way to the main hall and meet some more of the guests in the meantime.”
“Ah-! Of course, thank you.” Flowers began to walk down the garden path towards Hemi. Lucien, apparently satisfied, vanished into light.
“Um--” Liam trotted after her surprisingly quick gait. “The fastest path is to the right.”
“We need to collect your partner, don’t we?” The sun witch glanced back at him. “Besides, I need to compliment his dress, too.”
By the time they arrived, the sun had completely set, so Hemi was just staring off into the swirling expanse of the clouds below. His ears were somewhat askew-- when Liam approached, they swiveled to face him.
“Hey, we’re supposed to go inside soon.” Liam let a gentleness into his tone.
Hemi stretched and stood. He used a quick gesture to disconnect the dirt from his dress’ fabric, so it became fully clean in an instant. When he turned around, he started at the sight of the witch who accompanied Liam.
“Oh--! Um--” Hemi gave a clumsy bow. “Hello-- I’m sorry, I didn’t notice you.”
The witch extended her hand. “I’m Flowers. What’s your name?”
“...Hemi.” He said, and shook her hand with his paw. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“You as well. I like your dress~!” She told him. Hemi’s ears flipped, but he smiled in response.
A latch sounded at the main door. “Ah, it seems it’s time to enter. Have a wonderful time, you two--!” Flowers curtseyed again, and was off.
Liam looked at Hemi with a soft grin..
“What? I was surprised…”
“Nothing, nothing.” He took Hemi’s hand. “Another adventure, right?”
“--Right.”
The two cats proceeded towards the gathering group of wizards and the great oaken doors. The blue moon shone bright overhead.

The more and more I think about the pale king from hollow knight, the more and more obsessed I get about him. Like. He’s a Wyrm who found a civilization of bugs without thought, created and looked after by the Radiance (a moth sun god), and decided to shed his Wyrm form into one more like those bugs without mind, and the Pale Light shed from his new form gave them mind and thought, and with it the bugs went from worshiping the Radiance to worshiping the Pale King. In part because he did give them a wondrous gift, and in part because he didn’t want them worshipping anything else. Not yet. And then he builds his Kingdom of Hallownest, and comes to care for his people. He marries the White Lady, a Root (tree) and Pale Being of fertility, and attempts peace with the other civilization, Deepnest. People are making pilgrimages to Hallownest, research is being done in the Kingdom, technology is advancing with the Trams and the Crystal Peaks and the buzz saws. Everything is thriving.
And then it happens. The Infection.
A disease spread by dreams, the Pale King is trying to find a reason, a way to stop it, and then it is revealed. The Radiance, the Old Light. A higher being of light and of dreams. A being with one failsafe rebuttal. Void. So he experiments. He makes the Kingsmolds and the Wingsmolds, but they aren’t strong enough. They can’t hold an Old God. And an idea strikes him. A horrible, gruesome idea. He tries everything he can to not use it, not attempt it, but nothing is working. His people are dying with his name on their tongues and in the end, there is nothing left to do.
He must finally have children. And he must throw them to the Abyss, to the Void, to die. And to get stronger. The children of Wyrm and Root would be strong, yes, but they would be exploited by a god driven by rage and powered through dreams. They could be nothing. And so they had to go.
But that wouldn’t be enough. He needed to protect this eventuality, this Vessel, from those Infected. People sent to Her realm, who could protect wherever his child this Vessel went. He could only think of three. The most loyal, Lurien the Watcher, the most resourceful, Monomon the Teacher, and the most vicious, Herrah the Beast.
When Herrah wanted a child, he said yes. What else could he do?
And so he waited. One child Vessel would arise, and follow. Proving themselves numb to the hell they were born into, and the anger they should feel at the reason why. Many saw him and lunged. Many nights he mourned those he watched fall off the edge. Many mornings he locked those nights away.
And then one just watched. It watched its own sibling dangle from the edge, and it followed as the doors shut soundly behind them.
And the Pale King tried to stay strong. For his people, for his Kingdom, he would not see this as his child. It is not. It will not be.
No mind to think
No will to break
No voice to cry suffering
(He tries to forget how they screamed when they fell)
One day, one day the Vessel stands aside him. It’s peaceful, and he looks at it. It looks back. A moment, just a moment, and the Pale King imagines if it was different. He looks away.
The Vessel grows, his and Herrah’s child is born (her name is Hornet, she likes to run around the castle), and now is the time.
It is sealed. He will not think of them if he can help it.
He sees Hornet. He is reminded of why she is here, how she is here. He knows he fails by her. He doesn’t know how to do it right.
And then he hears it. The screaming. And he cries

I am suddenly having Monomon and Quirrel thoughts, particularly in the event in Embrace the Void ending where all the Dreamers wake up. Personally, as much as I love the relief Quirrel and Monomon felt that she actually woke up alive and well in some takes I’ve seen. I don’t really think the scene would’ve been quite pretty in actuality in my humble opinion.... especially with how sudden everything would’ve been for everyone involved. Out of all the Closest Persons to the Dreamers are, Quirrel would probably have it worst emotionally duel to the fact he doesn’t remember much of his time in Hallownest as the Teacher’s Assistant and that of an Archivist whilst Hornet and Lurien’s Butler still retain their memories and knows in detail what actually when down during Hallownest’s fall.
When Monomon finally wakes up, the both of them were definitely in a state of shock and disbelief. Because both of them were so sure that Monomon would’ve died regardless of what happens because that was the plan. That was what was supposed to happen. That was the plan. As much as he hates it. And as much as Quirrel doesn’t want to wish death upon someone---especially towards someone his past self apparently cared so much about---a small part of him wished Monomon stayed dead for his sanity and mind’s sake. To get this chapter of his life, of his past life, of the Slumbering Teacher done and over with. But Monomon was just relieved she was alive, even if it started out as a little relief, a small laugh at the highly improbable but very much real scene infront of her. One would think such a thing would be impossible and yet here she was, alive and well!!! And the Infection is gone!!!! She would be in a state of slightly unhinged giggly relief that she’s actually alive. And if she was capable of crying, she would’ve probably cry on the spot from the shock of it all. Monomon had already accepted her demise a long long time ago. So much so that she gracefully welcomed death with open arms. So the fact she’s alive comes with so much surprise. And now... and now she needs to want to live in order to live and..... fix all the loose ends and mistakes and grievings she made from her slumber. But well, worrying about these things are the blessings of living in a way aren’t they? Now, Quirrel on the other hand, is pretty much in the position of a Reincarnated (PLATONIC) Soulmate finding the Grave of his past self’s Closest Person and only remembering bits and pieces of this mysterious person that tugs on deep in his very soul and heart with only impressions of the past his past self had lived with this person. And while you’re still busy processing the now learned and unearthed past you had with this person, trying to untangle the confusing, conflicted, and complex feelings you have about this person, THEY SUDDENLY WAKE UP INFRONT OF YOU. This is just a metaphor. Which is what I can best describe the complex rollercoaster of a ride Quirrel’s feelings go through from Monomon waking up. Like, “I don’t know you. But I used to. And I loved you. But I’m not the same person anymore. Not anymore. I didn’t even know about you and what you had given in my previous life until now and even so, I know so so little compared to the amount of time my past self probably had spend with you. You used to be with my side, didn’t you? But you aren’t now. And I have to take a hand in your killing.... did you truly cared about me? The past me? The... The Real Me? Before I lost all of my memories? Because of you. It’s because of you----” It’s a fucking mess. So, now he has to sort through all these complicated feelings while helping Monomon readjust to being back alive and living. And he probably doesn’t get a fucking break to clear his mind properly when his chest won’t stop aching with all these overwhelming thoughts and emotions that his The Teacher is alive. And Monomon is just trying to adjust and try to make up for lost time and fix things with Quirrel and clear up things and misunderstandings and taking care of and maintaining the remaining parts of the Archives, while also trying to wrap around in her mind that this isn’t her the Quirrel she knows anymore. He had changed. And so did she. And things won’t be back to normal as she wish it would. She might be a scientist but that wouldn’t stop her from being a person, a person who still has feelings and memories of a fleeting better past. Back to a time where thing were much much more simpler and livelier And the Teacher might be alive again, but that wouldn’t mean Quirrel will become Quirrel the Archivist again. It’s not that simple. He simply can’t. You can’t just unlearn and leave everything you’ve experienced because you’ve found your past again. That isn’t how it works. He had grown and changed so much that stuffing him back to that stifling role, a role that doesn’t fit him anymore, not anymore, would be doing his character growth outside of Hallownest an injustice and invalidate the challenges and treasured memories he found along the way in his own path of making away from Hallownest. SO TLDR: Monomon is a person from (and somehow stuck in) the past suddenly pushed into the future and is now literally a fish out of water. Quirrel is a person who forgot his past after having an adventure and life of his own away from it but not fully free from it, only to be brought back and rediscover his forgotten past AND THEN, Being shoved back into the position his past self had while still processing his complicated entangled as fuck ball of feelings. Fun for the Whole fucking Family!!!!

Lightning Strikes First
(Modern! Grimm x Reader)
(Chapter Four)
My shift ran on for the next few hours, cutting at midnight. The moment the clock struck that deepest hour, I was out the door. Why did I get the weird shift at the 24 hour Cafe? Ask the desperate for a job me that moved in a couple years ago.
I trudged home, exhausted. I didn't bother to put my umbrella overhead, as the rain was nothing more that a mist. I reached my appartment door and unlocked it, slugging inside. I closed and locked the door, discarding my umbrella nearby, and heaved a long sigh of relief. Finally, tomorrow was my free day. I planned to sleep at least half of it away.
Now, I stretched and headed towards my room, ready to start a solid twelve hours of sleep... before noticing the shopping bags from earlier today. With a huff I walked over and grabbed the bags, bringing them to the kitchen counter. I dumped everything out and sifted through it. I put the foodstuffs, mostly sweets, in the pantry. I put the decor items around the kitchen, and was left with a bag of things for my bedroom.
I took the bag and turned off the kitchen and living room lights, walking to my room and flicking the light on in there. I shut the door and set the bag on my bed, dumping everything out. Most of it was clothes. A nice hat, a funny shirt. There was a nice yellow poncho with these Lurien buttons. I stuck them into my closet, sloppily hanging them wherever was available. I closed the closet door and went to look at the last few things. A tiktik plush that Tate got me, and that strange dream catcher.
I set the tiktik with my stuffed critter collection and went to pick up the catcher. I held it in the air. It spun lazily between my fingertips. The light from the ceiling lamp glinted off of it weirdly, as if the catcher disliked how artificial it was.
I shook my head with a laugh. I must be getting really tired if I was thinking an object felt something. I continues snickering at myself as I went to my desk and grabbed a push pin. I pushed the pin into the wall above my desk and hung the catcher there. Stepping back and looking at the balance of the setup, I was satisfied.
I changed into a pair of pajamas and flicked off the light, happy to finally set into my soft sheets. I was only barely under the blanket before sleep took me away to another blank night.
.
.
.
I woke up and found myself surrounded by clouds. A golden, yellow light filtered onto me from above. It felt warm on my exoskeleton. Soft air surrounded me and it felt as though I were being lifted up. Higher and higher. It was glorious. I landed on something semi solid eventually and looked around. It was like I was above the skyline, above the clouds. The yellow sky shone wonderfully and I soaked in the golden boon. In the distance, there was a large figure. Larger than anything I could remember seeing. It seemed to watch me with curious eyes. I tried to walk towards it, but found no change in my distance. So, I stayed there, continuing to soak in the light.
"You have not been here in a very long time. Have you?"
The voice sounded as though it was right beside me, and I was startled by the closeness of it. I looked around but only saw that distant figure again. The voice was loud, almost demanding of attention. But it was curious. I wondered if the voice belonged to the distant figure.
"Your mind is clear. No dreams belong to you. So you are here. Why are you here?"
I didn't understand what the figure was talking about, and honestly did not care. The warmth was almost addictive here.
"Perhaps you will gain a dream. I am not fond of such ignorant company."
They sounded dismissive, so I assumed that they were all done with me. Time passed. I barely noticed it.
The light was so, very nice.
.
.
.
I stirred awake with a groan and looked at my bedside clock. It was barely even 6 am. I turned over and went back to sleep.

So a synopsis of that AU I displayed is in order. All of it will be beneath the cut.
I will also put out the references once I am done with this.
Okay so it is a Beauty and the Beast au and I made that clear the first time but I will go over what is going on.
So there once was a royal family a Lurien is the son of the king and queen making him the prince. One day his parents travel off to meet other families to discuss royal matters with them and they trust their son in taking care of the castle.
He does well until he really annoys Soul Master (his name is Namata in this) and accidentally destroyed his dreams. In fury Soul Master builds up a plan and works with Radiance, who is a powerful witch in the woods, to curse him with a powerful curse.
Now to get in the place Soul Master collects up a group of soul warriors to distract the guards to get him to Lurien and when does he cursed him to become a huge butterfly beast. Now Soul Master leaves the tower cursing all that remained inside.
Those who remained inside were:
Marissa, a songstress who only came for a day to entertain in the lounge.
Emilitia, another entertainer who also works in an office in the castle.
Cas,( also known by HK players as the Collecter) a station guard who most definitely has ADHD and is just a quirky individual.
Rus,(he is the love key husk) a cleaner who yearns to be an astrologer also is best friends with Cas.
Poggy Thorax, his real name is Pageo but Poggy is easier, he cooks for the castle and he also wasn’t meant to be here forever but now he is.
Glea,(more well known as the Gorgeous husk): is a snobby but sweet aristocrat who volunteered to help design clothing in the royal family.
Pajett, a watcher knight who was determined to fulfill her job to show her loyalty, she is now dating Sota.
Sota, a great husk sentry who didn’t expect to enjoy being a patrol guard but she did, she is dating Pajett.
Belvedere, lemm’s father and Lurien’s royal tutor when he was a kid. He is a chill guy and has memorised each book in the library’s first three pages.
Tenna, a dish washer who longs to be something more, he keeps moping about how he is forgettable, he is also a baker.
Bixbee, an 18 year old in an 8 year olds body in present day. They look cute but they are quite feisty and really don’t like it when you mention that they are cute.
Vienne, Bixbee’s mom, she works in the castle garden tending to the plants, she loves here kid and has a short temper.
Donn, a previous soul warrior who’s clumsiness got him stuck with the others, he has a good heart but he is a little thick headed. He is close to Belvedere due to their fascination in books.
Celeus, Lurien’s butler and his childhood friend, her job is to report news to the top, she is timid and polite and generally wants to keep order.
Finally we have Lurien, the prince of the isle. He is gloomy but polite. He has anger issues which need taming but generally he will go out of his way to protect the others as he believes it is in his duties to repay them for what he brought upon them.
Now these 15 spend ten years in this castle that is until one day a certain man comes in.
PK ( his name is Albaver in this) is brought to the doors when one day his wife does not come home and much like in the thing this is based after he takes her place in the castle but due to how polite he was he is deemed guest.
Now you can guess how it goes. He starts of distant until one day he stupidly goes up to the top floor (this AU’s equivalent of the west wing) and gets caught but gets saved by the Beast (Lurien) and this causes romance to start brewing, within this we also get character development and tons of pining.
After all this we will have the iconic dance scene and the mob and of course a kiss on the lips to cure the curse and boom they are human again.
With the main plot out of the way, some side things to bring out. Now the castles curse locks them in the castle and the garden behind a magical barrier. There is plenty characters I could bring into this but I would prefer not to right now and tons of areas and magic that I also don’t go too into depth. Another little thing I will bring up is that it is in the time era of 1700’s
Now that is all I will put in this, there will be more to put later.

Shade Lord Ghost Drabbles: Weavers
ok how about ghost deciding to go see the weavers
~
Graveyards, memorials, and the like weren’t the way of things in Deepnest. In the battle for survival against everything else that resided within these dark tunnels, there was no time to waste with burying the dead or constructing monuments for them. It was better to remember a friend by what they’d been, not by the husk they’d left behind.
Those days were done though. Herrah may still Queen of Deepnest but her subjects were no more. The Midwife was the last sentient inhabitant left. Hornet was no longer hers too command, too long had she been independent and a ruler in her own right, even if her kingdom had always been as empty as Herrah’s now was.
That emptiness is what had brought Herrah to the Weaver’s Den where the bulk of her weavers’ once Infection riddled husks had fallen. It wasn’t much of a monument she was creating, piling those empty husks up but she’d owed them something.
She was getting soft in her old age, huh? Not that she even felt that old yet. There were worst things to feel than sorrow though. At least she was more put together than Lurien. Not a particularly difficult feat to accomplish.
With the last weaver husk in place on the mound, Herrah stepped back to look it over. … Maybe she did feel a little better having done something. Perhaps that had always been the point, graves and monuments weren’t for the dead but instead they were for the living. … It didn’t bring her people back though. So really, it had been a giant waste of…
“Do you need help burying them?”
Herrah turned to see Ghost standing behind her. How long had they been standing there watching her? Now that she was paying attention, she could feel their presence; heavy and dark but still somehow not malicious.
“No,” she replied. “I have already wasted enough time on that monument as is.”
Ghost nodded as if they understood. And perhaps they did, in every way that mattered they were older than her after all.
“I suppose Deepnest is part of your kingdom now. I have no grounds to continue to call myself Queen of it.” At least it hadn’t been the Pale King who’d taken it over. “My subjects have all perished, this is their last remaining monument so I ask that you leave it intact.” It had mostly been a meaningless waste of time but she didn’t want her people to be forgotten. If the Pale King could enforce his will onto the land, building his kingdom strong and big enough to ensure he and his kingdom were remembered for centuries, then surely she could be allowed this one indulgence for her weavers.
Ghost was quiet for a few seconds, seemingly deep in thought as they stared at her. Long enough that she was starting to feel uncomfortable before they finally spoke. “Wait here.” And with no further explanation they vanished in a flash of void, teleporting off.
Herrah was tempted to just leave but… she was curious. What were they up to?
Luckily it was only a few minutes before they were teleporting back in with another puff of void.
“Weavers.” They opened a pair of their closed hands, releasing threeweaverlings onto the ground in front of Herrah. Still young, it had probably only been a handful of months since their hatching. “I found them in the upper room. I watched them for a while but they kept getting into fights with Grimmchild. I gave them to Iselda and Cornifer to watch. I should have brought them to you sooner. Sorry.”
Herrah watched the weaverlings scuttle about for a few more seconds before looking back up at Ghost. “Once again, I find myself in your debt.” Which she would never be fond of – being in another’s debt never led to anything other than trouble – but… her people weren’t all gone. The weaver clan would never be as it had once been but they were still here. Perhaps this unasked for and unexpected extension on her life wouldn’t be quite as lonely as she’d feared it was doomed to become.
