I rewatched Bright Young Things this evening, went down a rabbit hole & found photos from the premiere.

Firstly, obsessed with Michael Sheen's outfit.

Second, feel a little robbed that there's no proper photo with MS & DT, this is as close as I can see.

Excerpts from Jason Arnopp’s article in DWM 396:

DWM: How did you like working with Christopher Benjamin [who played Lord Eddison] David Tennant: It's glorious. Although I have to say, it's one of those casts where you're delighted with everybody. I've worked with Fenella [Woolgar, who plays Agatha Christie] a couple of times, and I'm proud to announce to the world that her casting here was my idea! I think it's the first time a casting suggestion of mine has ever been taken up. And Tom Goodman-Hill [who plays Reverend Golightly] is a fantastic actor. He was buzzing brilliantly in the readthrough. DWM: You auditioned for the part: were you sitting in a waiting room with a bunch of Christie-alikes? Fenella Woolgar (Agatha Christie): Yes, that was hilarious. And even funnier, because there was another audition going on next door which couldn't have been more different: some guy was shouting, "I'm gonna kill your effing mother!" So I was standing there, thinking, "No, no, it's 1926! Focus!" DWM: You've known David Tennant for a while, right? Tom Goodman-Hill (Reverand Golightly): Since drama school days, so we've got lots of mutual friends. I remember talking to him, just after he got the Doctor Who job, about how we grew up on Tom Baker and Peter Davison's Doctors. Although I'm a little older than David, so I also remember a bit of Pertwee.

If I had a nickel for every time Fenella Woolgar played Agatha Christie going through a fugue state in a piece of media featuring David Tennant I'd have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Bright Young Things

A look into the lives of a young novelist, his would-be lover, and a host of young people who beautified London in the 1930s.

Hedonistic decadence all around, but not in a particular entertaining way. Maybe with the exception of James McAvoy's character it's hard to get interested. So it's difficult to care when things start to get more serious later.

The naiveté of the lead character doesn't help. It's hard to understand why he was in the company of the other people.

On December 3rd, 1926 the mystery writer Agatha Christie is staying at a country estate and confronted to solve a real murder mystery (professor peach, in the library with a lead pipe) along with a party crasher known as the Doctor (Doctor 10) and his companion Donna. Unlike the murders in her stories, this one appears to be committed by a giant wasp disguised as a man. This adventure happened on the date she historically (in real life) disappeared for a week and half. ("The Unicorn and the Wasp" Doctor Who, TV)
