Note
tell me stuff about galra gender xeno
Not much to tell tbh. They're dimorphic like humans are. Galra also don't really seem to acknowledge it much at all. Whether one is male or female, it simply does not matter to them. I suppose on a culture-by-culture basis this could vary, but otherwise the Empire at large doesn't treat one sex any differently from the other. I'd imagine for most galra it would be bizarre to segregate like that.
For your consideration of sending this prompt tho:

Y/N L/N had always been captivated by the stars. Growing up on a small colony planet at the edge of the galaxy, she spent countless nights gazing up at the vast expanse, dreaming of adventures beyond her homeworld. Her fascination with the cosmos led her to pursue a career in astrophysics, and now, as a young researcher aboard the Galra Observatory Station, she was living her dream.
One clear night, as Y/N analyzed data from the latest deep space survey, a rare celestial event caught her attention—a comet with a peculiar trajectory. Intrigued, she redirected the observatory's telescopes to track its path. Little did she know, this comet's journey would intersect with her own in the most unexpected way.
Meanwhile, aboard the Castle-Ship known as the Lion's Den, Keith Kogane, the skilled pilot of the Black Lion and a key member of the Voltron team, was on a routine mission to investigate disturbances in the quadrant. He had grown accustomed to the vastness of space, finding solace in its silent beauty. But as he monitored the readings, something unusual appeared on his scanner—a mysterious energy signature coming from the direction of the Galra Observatory Station.
Curious yet cautious, Keith decided to investigate. The journey took him closer to the observatory than he had anticipated, and as he approached, he couldn't shake the feeling that this mission held more significance than he initially thought.
Back at the observatory, Y/N was still engrossed in her analysis when alarms suddenly blared through the station. Startled, she rushed to the main control room, where panicked voices filled the air. Reports indicated an unidentified spacecraft approaching rapidly—a potential threat.
"We need to raise our shields! Prepare for defensive maneuvers!" Commander Iverson, the station's head, barked orders, but Y/N's mind raced with concern. Were they under attack? Were they prepared for this?
As tension mounted, Keith's sleek black spacecraft glided smoothly towards the observatory. He could see the shimmering shield defenses activating, a sign that they were wary of his presence. Keith hesitated for a moment, considering his options. He could announce his identity and purpose, but he knew that might only escalate the situation.
Instead, he chose to land his craft some distance away from the observatory, hoping to approach on foot. Stealthily, he made his way through the rocky terrain towards the station's entrance, mindful of any surveillance that might detect him. It was then that he caught sight of a figure moving swiftly among the scientists and crew—Y/N.
Y/N had volunteered to assist with securing the observatory's defenses, her mind racing with strategies to protect her colleagues and the valuable research data. As she hurried down a corridor, she nearly collided with someone emerging from a side passage—a young man with strikingly dark hair and intense eyes. For a moment, time seemed to stand still as they locked gazes, each sizing up the other.
"Who are you?" Y/N demanded, her voice steady despite the underlying tension.
Keith hesitated, assessing her carefully. "I'm here to help," he replied, his tone earnest yet guarded. "I detected an anomaly in this sector and came to investigate."
Y/N regarded him skeptically, her mind racing through possible scenarios. "You expect me to believe you just stumbled upon us?"
"I know it sounds suspicious," Keith admitted, his hand drifting instinctively to the hilt of his bayard at his side. "But I'm not your enemy."
Before Y/N could respond, a voice crackled over the intercom, announcing that the potential threat had dissipated. The tension in the air eased slightly, but Y/N remained wary. "If you're not here to cause trouble," she began cautiously, "then why are you really here?"
Keith hesitated, his expression softening as he studied her. "I sensed something... unusual. Something that drew me here," he admitted quietly. "I don't know what it is yet, but I'm hoping to find answers."
Y/N regarded him for a long moment, her initial suspicion tempered by curiosity. "You're a pilot," she observed, noting the distinctive uniform he wore beneath his outer cloak. "Are you with the Coalition?"
Keith nodded, relieved that she seemed willing to hear him out. "I'm part of the Voltron team," he explained, watching her closely for any reaction.
Recognition flickered in Y/N's eyes. "Voltron... the defenders of the universe," she murmured, recalling stories she had heard during her childhood. "And you're here alone?"
"It's complicated," Keith admitted, sensing that she was beginning to trust him. "But I promise, I'm not here to cause trouble."
Y/N considered his words carefully, weighing the risks and possibilities. Despite her lingering doubts, there was something about Keith that resonated with her—a shared sense of purpose, perhaps, or simply the way he looked at her with a mix of determination and vulnerability.
"Alright," she finally conceded, gesturing towards a quieter area of the station. "Let's talk."
As they walked together through the bustling corridors of the observatory, Y/N learned more about Keith's mission and the challenges he faced as a pilot of the Black Lion. In turn, Keith listened intently to Y/N's experiences as a researcher, her passion for understanding the mysteries of the universe evident in every word.
Hours passed in animated conversation, their initial wariness giving way to a growing connection forged by mutual respect and shared curiosity. By the time they paused for a brief meal in the station's mess hall, Y/N found herself smiling more freely than she had in a long time, drawn to Keith's quiet strength and unwavering determination.
Little did they know, their encounter was just the beginning of an extraordinary journey—one that would test their courage, challenge their beliefs, and ultimately lead them to discover a love as deep and boundless as the stars themselves.
Chapter 2: Bonds of TrustIn the days that followed, Y/N and Keith found themselves drawn together by their shared mission to unravel the mysteries surrounding the observatory's recent anomalies. Working side by side, they analyzed data, brainstormed theories, and debated strategies late into the night. Each day brought them closer, forging a bond built on trust, respect, and a growing sense of camaraderie.
As they navigated the complexities of their respective roles—Y/N as a scientist dedicated to her research, and Keith as a pilot torn between duty and his own quest for answers—their connection deepened. They discovered shared interests beyond their professional pursuits: a love of ancient myths, a fascination with distant galaxies, and a mutual appreciation for the simple pleasures of stargazing.
One evening, as they stood together on the observatory's observation deck, gazing out at the shimmering tapestry of stars above, Y/N couldn't suppress a sigh of wonder. "It's breathtaking," she murmured, her voice filled with awe.
Keith glanced at her, a faint smile touching his lips. "It reminds me of home," he confessed quietly, his gaze lingering on her face.
Y/N turned to him, struck by the sincerity in his eyes. "Tell me about your home," she urged gently, sensing there were stories he had yet to share.
For a moment, Keith hesitated, his thoughts drifting back to the distant memories of a planet lost to him forever. "It was a small desert world," he began slowly, his voice tinged with nostalgia. "Harsh and unforgiving, yet... beautiful in its own way."
As he spoke, Y/N listened intently, captivated by the glimpses of Keith's past he chose to reveal. She learned of his childhood spent exploring rocky canyons and racing solar cycles across vast dunes, of the bonds forged with friends who had become like family. And she sensed the weight of loss that he carried—a longing for a home that had been torn apart by war.
"I'm sorry," Y/N murmured softly, reaching out to gently squeeze his hand. "I can't imagine what you've been through."
Keith met her gaze, gratitude shining in his eyes. "Thank you," he replied sincerely, his voice rough with emotion. "It means a lot to me, being able to share this with you."
Their conversation drifted seamlessly from one topic to the next, their laughter mingling with moments of quiet reflection. With each passing day, Y/N found herself more deeply drawn to Keith's strength and resilience, while Keith marveled at Y/N's intelligence, compassion, and unwavering determination to uncover the truth.
But amidst the excitement of their discoveries and the thrill of their shared adventures, a shadow loomed on the horizon—a new threat emerging from the depths of space, one that would test their newfound bond in ways neither of them could have anticipated.
Chapter 3: Trials and TribulationsAs tensions rose across the galaxy, Y/N and Keith found themselves thrust into a series of harrowing missions, each more perilous than the last. Together with the Voltron team, they battled rogue Galra forces, navigated treacherous asteroid fields, and uncovered ancient relics that held the key to unlocking long-lost secrets.
Through it all, Y/N's bond with Keith continued to strengthen, their trust in each other growing with every challenge they faced. They learned to anticipate each other's moves in battle, their minds working in perfect synchrony as they fought side by side to protect those in need. And amidst the chaos of war, they found moments of solace in quiet conversations and stolen glances, their shared laughter a beacon of hope in the darkest of times.
But as the stakes grew higher and the battles more intense, doubts began to creep into Y/N's mind. She knew the dangers that Keith faced as a pilot of Voltron, the constant threat of injury or worse looming over him with each passing mission. Their moments together became precious yet fleeting, overshadowed by the ever-present specter of danger.
One evening, after a particularly grueling skirmish that left the team battered but victorious, Y/N found herself standing alone on the observation deck once more, staring out into the endless expanse of stars. She couldn't shake the fear that gnawed at her heart—a fear born not just of the battles they fought, but of the growing feelings she harbored for Keith.
Lost in her thoughts, she didn't hear him approach until he was standing beside her, his presence a comforting weight at her side. "Y/N," Keith began softly, his voice tinged with concern. "Are you alright?"
Y/N turned to him, forcing a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "I'm fine," she replied automatically, but Keith's unwavering gaze told him he saw through her facade.
"You're worried," he stated quietly, his expression gentle yet probing. "About us."
Her heart clenched at his words, knowing he understood her far better than she had realized. "Keith," she started, struggling to find the right words. "It's just... everything is happening so fast. The missions, the battles... I'm afraid of losing you."
Keith's fingers brushed against hers, his touch gentle and reassuring. "I know," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "But you're not alone in this. We're a team, Y/N. And I'll do everything in my power to keep you safe."
Tears welled in Y/N's eyes at his words, overwhelmed by the depth of his commitment to her and to their mission. "I believe you," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the hum of the ship's engines. "But it's not just about physical safety, Keith. It's... it's about us."
For a moment, silence stretched between them, the weight of her words hanging in the air. Then, Keith took a step closer, his hand cupping her cheek tenderly. "Y/N," he said softly, his gaze unwavering as he searched her eyes. "I care about you. More than I can put into words."
Her breath caught in her throat at his confession, her heart pounding in her chest. "Keith," she murmured, her voice trembling with emotion. "I... I care about you too."
Before she could say another word, Keith closed the distance between them, his lips capturing hers in a kiss that spoke of longing, of hope, and of the unspoken bond that had been growing between them since the moment they first met. Time seemed to stand still as they lost themselves in each other, their fears and doubts melting away in the warmth of their embrace.
When they finally pulled apart, Y/N rested her forehead against Keith's, her fingers tangling in his hair as she struggled to find her voice. "I never expected this," she admitted quietly, her heart racing with a mixture of joy and uncertainty. "But I'm glad it's happening."
Keith smiled softly, his thumb brushing away a tear that had escaped down her cheek. "Me too," he confessed, his voice filled with a depth of emotion that took her breath away. "I've never felt this way before, Y/N. You mean everything to me."
Their moment together was interrupted by the distant hum of the ship's engines, a reminder of the world waiting beyond the observation deck. Reluctantly, they pulled apart, their hands still intertwined as they faced the uncertain future that lay ahead.
"We'll face whatever comes together," Keith promised, his voice steady despite the turmoil in his heart. "No matter what."
Y/N nodded, a sense of peace settling over her as she met his gaze. "Together," she echoed, knowing that as long as they had each other, they could weather any storm.
And so, hand in hand, Y/N and Keith returned to the heart of the ship, their hearts lightened by the knowledge that their bond was stronger than any challenge they might face. As they prepared for the next mission, they carried with them the promise of a love that had been written in the stars—a love that would guide them through the darkest of times and lead them to a future filled with hope, courage, and endless possibilities.
Chapter 4: Love Among the StarsIn the weeks and months that followed, Y/N and Keith navigated the trials and triumphs of their dual lives with grace and determination. Their relationship blossomed amidst the chaos of war, each moment together a cherished reminder of the love that had bloomed unexpectedly between them.
They stole quiet moments whenever they could—a shared meal in the ship's mess hall, stolen kisses in the corridors between missions, and whispered conversations beneath the stars that bore witness to their love. Each day brought them closer, their bond deepening as they learned to lean on each other in times of uncertainty and fear.
But as their feelings for each other grew stronger, so too did the challenges they faced. Battles became more intense, missions more perilous, and the weight of their responsibilities threatened to pull them apart. Yet through it all, Y/N and Keith remained steadfast in their commitment to each other, their love a beacon of light in the darkest of times.
One evening, as they sat together in the quiet solitude of Y/N's quarters, Keith traced the lines of Y/N's face with gentle fingers, his gaze filled with a mixture of love and longing. "I never expected to find someone like you," he admitted quietly, his voice rough with emotion.
Y/N met his gaze, her heart swelling with affection. "And I never expected to fall in love with a pilot of Voltron," she teased gently, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
Keith chuckled softly, his thumb brushing against her cheek. "Fate works in mysterious ways," he murmured, his eyes never leaving hers.
*Not confident in my writing but hopefully you enjoyed it.*

Altean redesigns
It's been actual months since I said I would share my Altean redesigns, and I'm finally getting around to doing it! So sorry to leave y'all hanging.
SO! Just like last time, my friend @adaphyl and I have been working on a Voltron rewrite, and it started with me yapping about the Alteans and how I wished the show had done more with them. So I redesigned/rewrote Alteans while Ada redesigned/rewrote the Galra.
There's more I'd like to do with their designs and maybe revamp, but these were the ideas I had back when we started this rewrite (nov 11, 2023).
Tumblr media
So to start, I only did Allura, Coran, and Romelle, I'll eventually get around to drawing more but for now this is what we've got. There's a lot of lore I've written for Altea but it's just too much to get into here, so I'll condense it to the important bits.
I remembered in the show Allura mentioning Alteans were a "chameleon-like species", and it always annoyed me how that only translated to them having shapeshifting abilities. I never understood why they were just elves. So, I actually made them more chameleon like.
They have markings along their body, the color indicating sex like with actual lizards (female Alteans have darker markings while male Alteans have brighter colors), their skin tones have a green undertone, larger lizard-like eyes, small horns on their head, as well as three toes and fingers on each hand/foot. (There are also albino Alteans who have less markings, and regardless of sex their markings tend to be red or pink, but that's not really relevant to this post... perhaps a future post though...)
I also imagine that Alteans, because they're a lizard like people, get their energy from the sun. Because of this they worship a sun goddess. You'll see lots of gold or sun symbols throughout their clothing because of this.
However, you'll notice that Romelle looks a bit different. She's a special case, coming from the colony and not Altea proper. Because the Colony was about a few thousand years after Altea's destruction, a lot of culture was lost. Lotor, having not grown up on Altea or learning the culture, had to piece together what he could. In our rewrite Honerva did come from an alternate reality, and in her reality Alteans are a bit different.
Alt!Alteans get their energy from the moon rather than the sun, they worship a moon goddess. Lotor when building the colony wasn't sure which reality did which, and so the colony worships both goddesses. Romelle also wears a mix of masculine and feminine clothing that was common on Altea, again more of Lotor just not being entirely sure + thousands of years of culture slowly being lost. Romelle also has sharper teeth because of thousands of years spent spread out throughout the galaxy, Alteans began to evolve to adapt to different enviroments. (Also you'll notice Romelle's bright markings, I hc Romelle to be a trans woman so :) )

I love Keith's dad
It's a crime we never got to see more of Keith's dad. But from what we saw. I fucking love that man.
The man found a fucking alien. A tall, purple ass alien that crashed from a fucking space ship. And what was his first instinct?
Take care of her.
He looked to live alone in that house, so he probably had to go shopping for her to find some woman clothing. Like, you know that man had no fucking clue what he was doing and had to ask for help from a female employee
Then, she shows him a gigantic blue ass space cat, that's just chilling in a cave, and oh yeah, there's a intergalactic war going on, and a mad man that wants it, and his soldiers might also come back to earth for it. And what does he do?
He says he wants to help.
They fall in love. He has a child. And like, Krolia couldn't be taken to a hospital obviously, so that man probably had to deliver that baby.
And then he just, has family with her??? Buys the diapers, bottle, crib. And just-thats it. They're a family.
(What was his plan if Keith looked like a Galra btw? Was Krolia just going to be in hiding forever??)
THEN other aliens come to earth and he has to FIGHT ALIENS
THEN his Alien gf has to go back to space and he just carries on and raises their child. Until he dies
Like, I'm not sure how to properly express what I'm trying to say?? But do you know what mean?? Like, he's a fucking legend.
And we don't even get his name.

Royal Greetings my love,
Your fics are a work of art, love it!! May I request something for Kolivan?
I think most galrans believe in love at first sight (like Zarkons brain was drowned in pink glitter when he saw Honerva for the first time) and what if Kolivan had this moment as well with (Female) Blade!Reader when he saw her the fist time without her mask on a mission (aka. the best time to fall in love with someone)?
If you're finding some time to write that scenario/headcanon: Take all the time you need honey, i know it's tough writing requests for others (and yours are so good and nice to read on top of that!)
You're doing great, thank you for everything!
- Fürstin Lya
I'm glad that you like my fics so much 🥰 I only wish that I had more time to write. Of course I can; this is a super cute idea 💖
I appreciate you being so patient with me. Without further ado, here it is 💕
_________________________________________
(Y/n) was just the average Marmoran operative; she was trained by Krolia and Antok made her an official member after her trials because Kolivan had been away at the time, so Kolivan had never seen her face before. She'd been out on missions with Kolivan many times and over time she developed a little crush on her leader, unfortunately as far as she was aware he wasn't interested in a romantic relationship with anyone. The only people who knew about her crush on Kolivan were her close friends and Ulaz; Ulaz had a knack for knowing when someone was in love with someone else, even when they never actually told him. (Y/n) did her best to prove herself to Kolivan by taking only the most dangerous missions when they came up and she was successful with all of them, luckily the worst that happened to her during one mission in particular was that she almost lost her left arm.
Kolivan was aware of who (Y/n) was despite having never seen her face and he was very impressed by her success rate; he would eventually like to personally meet her on a more casual level. When he, Antok and (Y/n) went with Allura to galra central command it was (Y/n) who saved Antok’s life, putting herself in danger so that he wouldn't be killed. It was then that Kolivan made up his mind that he wanted to meet (Y/n) face to face as soon as they had time. After the battle at central command, Antok, (Y/n) and Thace had to stay in three of the castle's healing pods, although since (Y/n) wasn't too badly injured she was only asleep for about a day. Kolivan and Ulaz remained at the castle, waiting for their comrades to finish healing; right before (Y/n) was deemed healed Kolivan was in the lounge with the paladins.
“Wait, so you've never even seen (Y/n's) face? And you like her?” Lance asked Kolivan after he explained how he knew the young galran woman, dumbfounded that the Marmoran leader liked someone despite never actually seeing her face before.
“I never said that I held affection for her.” Kolivan corrected the blue paladin, feeling a little flustered.
“You didn't have to, I can tell when someone really likes someone else. That's why they call me the doctor of love.” Lance responded, bragging about his special gift.
“Lance, no one calls you that.” Keith responded flatly, hoping that Kolivan wouldn't take Lance seriously.
Lance gawked at Keith, immediately getting into an argument with the slightly older boy who always had to ruin his fun. Keith didn't see it as ruining Lance's fun, he just preferred to be realistic. Kolivan couldn't believe that mere children were able to fight in a ten-thousand year war and have some degree of success; Shiro had originally whipped them into shape, but without him around then Kolivan feared that team Voltron would fall apart. In the meantime, (Y/n) had come out of the healing pod she'd been staying in and Ulaz decided to go get Kolivan after he gave her a check-up just to make sure she was alright. Keith and Lance stopped arguing when Ulaz entered the lounge, listening as he told Kolivan that (Y/n) was ready.
“Go get her!” Lance said as he cheered Kolivan on, hoping that the older man would finally meet the woman of his dreams.
“Lance!” The other three paladins chided their friend in sync, each of them feeling a little embarrassed from the way he acted around Kolivan.
Kolivan wasn't expecting Lance to cheer him on when he didn't even have romantic tendencies towards (Y/n), he viewed her as his subordinate and nothing more because they were at war and there was no time for romance. Subconsciously he'd taken a slight interest in her, but consciously he'd convinced himself that he didn't see (Y/n) as a potential romantic partner. On the way to the infirmary Ulaz could tell that his leader was anxious and a little excited, and after talking to (Y/n) he knew she was really excited to finally have a little one-on-one time with Kolivan. When they arrived at their destination Ulaz left so he could give them some privacy, knowing that everything would go well between his friend and his leader. As soon as the door slid open and Kolivan saw (Y/n's) face he was awestruck; he just stood there for a moment, taking in her beauty while she looked at him with confusion, he wasn't expecting one of his most talented operatives to look so beautiful.
“You must be (Y/n).” Kolivan managed to choke out, feeling dizzy and lightheaded as he walked over to her; he felt embarrassed for not being able to speak clearly, it was the first time it happened and he wasn't sure how to handle being in the presence of such a fine young woman.
“That's me. Leader, are you feeling alright?” (Y/n) answered professionally prior to voicing her concern for him; she never thought that she would see the day when Kolivan got flustered, she thought it was really cute.
Before he saw (Y/n) without her mask Kolivan convinced himself that he could never fall in love with her, that changed as soon as he saw her without the hood and the mask of her uniform in the way. All he could do was stand there with his mouth slightly agape, staring at her face; if he was in one of those memes Regris had shown him, then he was sure that there would have been tiny beating hearts all around him. (Y/n) was a patient woman and she knew that Kolivan needed a moment to regain his composure; she didn't necessarily believe she was beautiful, but after breathing in his pheromones she could easily tell that he really liked what he saw.
“I just wanted to tell you that you did well yesterday, not everyone would save their superior in such a dangerous situation.” Kolivan said once his brain started working again, feeling the need to say something.
“I had to, he's one of us. Now that we have some time to recover from the mission, I would like to sit next to you during dinner this evening, if that's alright with you.” (Y/n) responded shyly, hoping to finally get to know her leader better, perhaps on a more personal level if he were to allow it.
“I would like that very much. But if you'll temporarily pardon me, I have something important to go discuss with Ulaz. I look forward to seeing you later.” Kolivan said before he excused himself, briefly smiling at (Y/n) on his way out of the infirmary.
(Y/n) reciprocated the smile and felt giddy; she assumed that he wanted to discuss Antok and Thace's health with Ulaz, although she felt giddy about sitting next to him at dinner. Since she felt better she decided to go to her temporary bedroom so that she could rest and get herself ready; there were a few hours left before dinner, and the young woman decided to wash up before dinnertime. While (Y/n) got herself ready for dinner, Kolivan went to go talk to Ulaz who was a known hopeless romantic, if anyone could give him love advice then it would be Ulaz. Just thinking about (Y/n) made him feel nervous because he'd never truly been in love before, but he wanted to get to know her better and with the possibility of a safer universe he was ready to open himself up to her and give love a chance. Until dinnertime, he and (Y/n) would get themselves ready for what would be the start to the rest of their lives together.

PROPAGANDA
ALLURA (VOLTRON: LEGENDARY DEFENDER)
1.) Okay so, they really wanted Allura to be a #girlpower icon, but the way that came about is that they basically stripped her from having emotions. She only cries once in the whole show, and it was in the first season (when the show was actually good.) After her one cry she basically becomes a leader figure who doesn’t get to bond much with the other characters. They then decided to pass her around as a romantic interest to three different men. The first one was only set up, but she ends up dating two of them within the show’s short run. The second character they set her up with turns out to have enslaved her people. The third character they set her up with has been shown to be interested in her through the shows run. Despite Allura’s consistent lack of interest, she ends up being pressured into going on a date with him. Despite it being a terrible date (in my opinion) they decide to peruse a relationship. The relationship is terrible and they really only spend time together to rant about their problems. At the end of the season, the very same one where this relationship started, Allura sacrifices herself to save the universe. This stupid fucking decision not only came out of nowhere in terms of in-universe logic, but also that her death is treated as sad because the guy lost his girlfriend. Most of the other characters don’t really morn her, and the guy she was dating just becomes sadly obsessed with the idea of her for the rest of his life. Not really the nice send-off for the #girlboss.
2.) She was given plenty character, but not a lot of things to do narratively speaking.
She wanted to free the Galaxy from tyranny. She's the leader even though she doesn't pilot the black lion. She's can talk to mice. She's kind, and she's among the the last of her kind. Her home planet was destroyed. She kept going even when things looked horrendous. She had to wait 10,000 in stasis sleep before she could fight to protect others. Because her father wanted to protect her and made the wrong decision in not fighting the Galra with Voltron. She had to destroy the AI of her father when he was corrupted in season 1. She had to deal with her Dad dying twice.
She had cool powers like shapeshifting but didn't get to use them often. She starts piloting the blue lion, at season 3. Her father worked with the big bad Zarkon and she is portrayed just to hate him. When it was more like she was completely betrayed by him.
She didn't get alot of interactions with the other cool female characters. Even Pidge who was on her team, which can only form Voltron through teamwork. 8 seasons and they never talk about how how much they miss their families. Pidge's main motivation is finding her father and brother. It would have been perfect. The only time they hangout is to get Allura ready for a date.
She was distrusting of all Galra since there empire wiped out her kingdom. But when she got an arc about learning to not distrust all Galra. It functionally ended with Prince Lotor of the Galra making people batteries out of the survivor's of her kingdom.
Then she was basically relegated to her relationship with Lance's interaction wise. She didn't get many interactions with anyone else she was close to in the season she died. Not even with Coran, the guy put in stasis with her.
For the finale she dies sacrificing herself to restore all realites. She had to give up her new family and her people. She would do that, I just don't think the writers had earned doing that. She deserved a happy ending. She never gets to see that her sacrifice even brought back her planet.
3.) season 8. Season 8. SEASON 8. Allura deserved so much better than an out of nowhere romance arc with Lance and then dying without being able to say goodbye to Coran (her royal advisor, closest friend, and last remaining member of her family and her planet). AND they had her give Altean marks to Lance right before dying, leaving him with a constant reminder of her for the rest of his life!! Why!!!!!!!!! AND THEN THE LIONS FLY BACK INTO SPACE TOWARDS A NEBULA SHAPED LIKE HER, LIKE THE WHOLE FINALE WAS SATISFYING AND NOT A MASTERCLASS IN UNSATISFYING CHARACTER ENDINGS!!!!!! Allura you will always be the confident princess and leader of the rebellion in my heart i am so so sorry season 8 happened to you

MIKAELA BANES (TRANSFORMERS)
1.) mikaela's case is so egregious that i struggle to really properly word any propaganda beyond 'just look at the movie. look at it.' but congrats to mikaela banes for getting in! was thinking of submitting her along with my arcee but couldn't even like. begin to describe it. agh.
best i can really say for her right now is 'open her tfwiki article, open sam's, look at the pictures, compare how they frame the two, you will see what i mean then and there.' but i might do a rewatch of the bayverse transformers movies just to be able to get all my more complex thoughts in order to actually submit a breakdown of her. which is not something i want to do, but if anyone deserves it it's mikaela. she deserved so much better.
2.) She was the female character played by Megan Fox, and Michael Bay wanted to make sure everyone watching knew this was a woman played by megan fox. She is the quintessential "not like other girls" (in fact, this is the second sentence of her wikipedia page - "She is differentiated from "typical" women in her age group, having inherited mechanical skills from her father") who has guy interests, but is still hot and wears crop tops and jean shorts. I remember two things from that movie, Bumblebee and the scene where she is working on the car ~sexily~, which today genuinely seems like a parody, but was included entirely earnestly (I wasn't going to add a picture from this scene, but it was literally the first and third pictures that showed up when i googled her)
3.) Mikaela is so sexualized it's unreal. Like, I feel I really just need to submit this screenshot:
Tumblr media
Look at the way she's posed, the way she's dressed, the fact her head isn't in the shot. It's pure objectification, like the kind that should be in textbooks as easy examples. The way it emphasizes both her butt and her boobs but also shows her stomach is just astonishing. God it doesn't even show her FACE. This shot really amazes me, just good god.
And then there's also this famous shot:
Tumblr media
It's so aggressively sexy, so much a pose and not at all a way a real human would position themselves. The way her ass is popped out, the way her hair is flipped, jesus christ. Someone needs to put Michael Bay in misogyny jail.

You, Pidge, Shiro, and Keith sneak inside the Galra ship, crawling through the hole in the metal hull Pidge had cut out. As you look around, you notice that you're inside some sort of engine control room. Pillars of raw electricity arch from floor to ceiling along the entire length of the room, crackling and buzzing. You nervously keep your distance.
"Pidge, what's your ETA?" Lance asks over the intercom.
"We're in," Pidge responds.
"We shouldn't stay in one spot for long," you say.
Shiro nods. "You're right, let's get moving."
The group sneaks throughout the ship, carefully avoiding the Galra soldiers patrolling around. The purple lights illuminating your path seem to pulse with an eerie and malicious energy, constantly reminding you of the danger you're in.
Shiro stops as the group comes up to an intersection, staring down each of the two halls that stretch out before you. For a moment he tenses up, almost as if he's paralyzed. You reach out and grab his arm, and he flinches away from you.
"Are you okay?" you ask.
"I've been here before," Shiro says, his voice barely above a whisper. "When the Galra had taken us, they– they brought us here."
Pidge perks up, "That means the rest of your crew might still be here. We have to rescue them!" he exclaims.
Shiro shakes his head, "Pidge, we don't have time. We have to get the Red Lion back to Arus.
"But we can't just leave prisoners here!" Pidge shouts. You hiss at him to keep his voice down, but he glares at you instead.
Shiro steps closer to Pidge, "Look, no one understands that more than me, but in war, we have to make hard choices. Now, let's get moving," he says and begins to walk down one of the halls.
"No!" Pidge shouts again and Shiro stops. "Commander Holt is my father... He and my brother were the ones on Kerberos mission with you."
You give Pidge a quizzical look. That doesn't make sense. Commander Holt only had one son, Matt, and as Pidge said, he was on the Kerberos mission. So how the heck is Pidge his child?
Your eyes go wide, the dots finally connecting. No freaking way! You're his daughter Katie!? You're the kid that was blacklisted from the Garrison!
The only thing different is the glasses and short hair. How did Iverson not see it? How did you not see it? You met Commander Holt's children before the Kerberos crew left Earth. You were there with Keith to say goodbye to Shiro. You literally shook Pidge's hand that day!
     Wow, that is freaking embarrassing.
"Commander Holt is your father?" Shiro repeats.
"Yes! I have been searching everywhere for my family and I am not going to give up when I am this close!" Pidge says.
"We can split up," you blurt out, still caught up in your revelation. "Keith and I can go look for the Red Lion while you guys go look for the prisoners."
"Alright," Shrio says, agreeing with your idea. "Let's go then, I remember where they are held."
Keith glances between you and Shiro. "Are you sure that's a good idea? There are Galra soldiers everywhere."
Shiro places a hand on his shoulder. "Minor change of plans, but you'll be fine. Just remember, patience yields focus-"
A door down one of the halls opens, the sound of footsteps echoing along the walls. The group splits frantically, and you and Keith sprint down one of the halls. You skid to a stop as you quickly come upon another intersection. But you don't have time to think as the Galra soldiers are heading in your direction. You grab Keith's arm and run in a random direction.
When you can't hear any footsteps other than your own, you slow down and eventually come upon another intersection of halls. You hum, wondering if you can feel the same pulsing energy you did when searching for the Blue Lion, but you have nothing.
"Where do we even go?" Keith says, pacing between the two available directions. You can't feel the Red Lion, but you can definitely feel his growing impatience. "We don't even know where we are."
You grab his hand to force his attention on you, "Hey, remember what Shiro said? Patience yields focus," you say. "Try feeling the Red Lion's energy. You'll find it."
"Right," Keith huffs and closes his eyes. You watch his expression shift, his brows furrowing as he focuses. As he stands there, your eyes slowly begin to wander around his face. They drift from his eyes, to his nose, to his cheeks... to his mouth. You've never been able to keep yourself from admiring him when he wasn't looking.
It's something you've come to do subconsciously.
"I can feel it..." Keith says softly and his voice snaps you out of your trance. You frantically drop his hand and look away, your heart pounding wildly in your chest. For a split second, you thought he was talking about you staring at him.
You mentally cuss at yourself and feel your cheeks heat up with embarrassment. You're supposed to be mad at him, not hopelessly crushing on him. You seriously need to get out of your head.
Keith opens his eyes, "I got it. This way!" he says and you follow him.
The two of you avoid the patrolling soldiers as Keith tracks down the Red Lion, and eventually, you enter a large hangar. Cargo boxes and supplies are scattered about, but what's in the center is what catches your attention.
     "What the heck?" Keith mutters.
You pause, "Allura? Are you seeing this?" you ask over the intercom.
"Hold on, (y/n), let me pull up your feed," she says and then there's a very long silence.
Not one, but two Voltron Lions sit in the middle of the hangar, protected by their force fields. The Red Lion is there, as expected, but you stare at the other. Its metal body is entirely white, save for the few crystal blue and yellow accents consistent with Altean architecture and design.
The strange Lion's bright eyes seem to eagerly lock onto you as you approach it.
"I don't understand," Allura's voice barely crackles through the speakers in your helmet. "There's only five Lions..."
"Do you think the Galra built it?" Keith asks, running up to his Lion. As surprised as he is, he needs to focus on bonding with the Red Lion.
"That would be impossible," Allura says. "The blueprints died with my father."
You suddenly feel a pulse of energy, but not in the same way as you did with the Blue Lion. It's as if the strange Lion's very essence is tethered to you, and you can feel that tether tug throughout your whole body, urging you. You stop right in front of it and place your hands against the force field. The material ripples at your touch, but it doesn't open. The Lion purrs deeply.
"It's me! Keith!"
You look over at your friend, wondering what's going on. He stands in front of the Red Lion, who doesn't let him in either. His hands push against the force field.
"I am your Paladin!" he shouts, but the Red Lion continues to ignore him. "I'm bonding with you! Hey, we're connected–"
A group of soldiers burst into the hangar and begin shooting at the two of you. You raise your arm in front of you, activating your shield.
"Why did you have to be so loud?" you snap at Keith and run over to him.
"Why weren't you watching our backs?" Keith says to you. He transforms his bayard into a sword and rushes at the Galra soldiers.
"Oh, well I'm sorry!" you sneer at him and activate your bayard. You stop for a small moment as it materializes into a double-bladed scythe, the weapon feeling balanced and weighted in your hand. "This is new–"
A Galra soldier shoots at you, interrupting your gawking. You brace yourself behind your shield, the lasers dispersing in bright flashes upon impact. Then, for a small moment, there's a pause. You take the opportunity to charge the Galra soldier.
As you join the battle, you try your best to remember what you learned at the Garrison. students were required to take a hand-to-hand combat class, but you're much more used to the small batons and wooden knives they provided rather than a lengthy scythe.
You swing the blade at the feet of a Galra soldier, knocking it down on its back. You swiftly bring the other blade down right on its chest. It penetrates the armor, exposing a bundle of wires and computers.
"Robots?" you mutter, then grunt when another Galra soldier body slams you.
You stumble and catch yourself on one of the cargo boxes. The soldier doesn't waste a second and swings its fist. You manage to move just in time, its knuckles slamming right next to your head. As you side-step, you raise your scythe and swing at the soldier. The blade pierces through its back and it falls limp to the ground.
"(y/n)!" Keith calls out. "Hold onto something!"
"What?" you look over at him and see him standing at a control panel. You grab onto the cargo box, your fingers wrapping around the rope strapped across it.
Keith presses a button and the hangar door opens. Your body jerks as everything gets sucked out into space. You cuss under your breath and you fight to hold on.
Keith holds onto the panel. He struggles to reach the button and close the doors, the vacuum of space overpowering him. You watch as his grip slips and your heart leaps into your throat.
"Keith!" you scream when he gets sucked into space. You let go of the cargo box and follow after him. As your body is thrown out of the hangar, you reach out for your friend.
"What are you doing!?" he shouts.
"What do you think I'm doing?" you shout back. You're almost to him. Just a little more and you can grab onto him.
In a flash of red and white, Keith is gone. You scream, terrified of what space monster could have eaten him. But you stop when you see the Red Lion circle back around. It saved him.
A fearsome roar rattles throughout you and you turn to see the other Lion heading right for you. Its jaw opens and it scoops you up into the safety of its mouth.
You lay on the floor for a moment, panting as you try to gather your bearings. When the inside of the Lion lights up, you scramble to your feet and dust off your armor.
"Uh, thank you!" you call out and get a purr in response. You look around and the inside layout is nothing like the Blue Lion's. Granted, everything about this Lion seems different, either subtly or majorly.
"(y/n), are you okay?" Keith asks over the intercom.
"Yeah," you say, quickly finding your way to the cockpit. "Let's get back to the castle."
"Copy that."
⁀➷
Your feet hit the solid concrete of the courtyard. Behind you, the sixth Voltron Lion sits down on its metal haunches, its eyes watching you. As the others return with their Lions, Allura and Coran come running out into the courtyard.
The two Alteans stop dead in their tracks at the sight of the sixth Lion. Allura remains as stunned as she was when you found it, but now she seems to truly believe it's real now that it's right in front of her. Coran, however, doesn't seem as surprised.
"After all these years..." he says, moving closer to the Lion.
"There's another one?" Pidge gawks as she steps out of her Lion.
"Holy crow!" Lance exclaims, running up to you.
"Can anyone explain what's going on?" Hunk asks. "Why is there a sixth Lion?"
Coran looks to everyone, then gestures to the robotic feline sitting behind you, "When King Alfor was constructing the Lions, the White Lion was the first," he says. "It was... an experimental design."
"How come I never knew of this?" Allura asks.
"Your father had swept its existence under the rug," Coran continues explaining. "Although it was powerful, the White Lion was deemed too flawed to be fit for the battlefield. It was stashed away to be used for scraps... but King Alfor couldn't get himself to take it apart."
"That doesn't explain how Zarkon had it, seeing as he didn't know about it," Shiro notes.
"King Alfor knew the White Lion would still be dangerous in the wrong hands and sent it away with the other Lions," Coran says. "Zarkon simply must have found it."
"Did it have a Paladin before... everything?" you ask, feeling a slight tug on the invisible tether between you and the White Lion. Deep down, you hope it means something, that it's real. You hope you aren't imagining things.
Coran shakes his head, "No."
"Well, it sure doesn't hurt to have some extra firepower," Shiro says. "Sendak is still coming for the Lions and we'll want all the help we can get to defeat him."
"Right, and now that we have the other Lions, let's go get the Black Lion," Allura says.

Imagine being a Captain of a rebel resistance force against the Galra Empire...

Warnings: None! Other than cheesy fluff, Lance being a flirt, and badass female fighter pilots
(Totally stole the plane design from Star Wars lol and character descriptions were inspired by @ctchrysler‘s Original Characters💕)
Set in Voltron Season 2, Episode 3: “Greening the Cube”
Tumblr media
“Hello, daddy. Hello, mom.
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!
Hello world! I'm your wild girl.
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!”
Nova’s blue eyes twitched in frustration as tools and small gadgets jumped off of the table and shelves as a result from the high bass setting that echoed through the ship.
Even with her earplugs pushed tight into her ears and her sole attention drawn to the weird space spore connected to her computers and scopes, the obnoxious music managed to penetrate her small bubble.
It seemed to be a religious practice for the ship's captain to blare annoying Earthen 80's music whenever they could. And it annoyed the other ship’s occupants to death.
“Stone age love and strange sounds too.
Come on, baby, let me get to you.
Bad nights causing teenage blues.
Get down ladies, you've got nothin' to lose.”
On the floor above, Nexia was being restricted to a much-needed nap.
The upbeat music caused her to groan in frustration and slam her pillow onto her face, desperate to at least muffle the infuriating sound. She continued to steam in anger as she reached over for her belt and buckled the pillow around her head. She began to smash her head against the wall.
“Hey, street boy, want some style?
Your dead end dreams don't make you smile.
I'll give you something to live for.
Have you and grab you until you're sore.”
Ishoël was busy in the ship’s hull with her maps and coordinates. Her large purple ears twitched and rang slightly due to their sensitivity to the blaring music, but she couldn’t help but tap her foot and swish her tail along with the beat.
Being of Galran descent, she had never heard such upbeat music before, only monotone hymns and war chants. As much as her squad would whine and complain, she quite liked Earthen music. It was so different!
“Hello, daddy. Hello, mom.
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!
Hello world! I'm your wild girl.
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!”
In the center of it all, the bringer of suffering was you. You danced around the ship’s deck like no one was watching - and even when Nexus and Nova would sit by, glare, and judge you, you wouldn’t stop anyways.
You would always argue these moments of dance and song were all in honor of your team’s success of the many successful liberation missions against the Galra Empire. The twins and Ishoël would always agree with your statements and let you return to your goofy, silly party state.
Oh, the perks of being Captain!
Your long pink hair swished and swayed with every movement, you enjoyed having your hair down once in a while. You loved these rare moments, when you could blare your foreign music and dance wildly.
“Cherry bomb!
Cherry bomb!
Cherry bomb!
Cherry bomb!”
Back under the decks, Nexus trudged out of her barracks with her pillow still tied tightly around her ears and entered her sister’s lab. Nova glanced up from her test subject towards her miserable twin.
Any other day the scientist would smirk and revel in her twin’s irritation, but both of the twins were suffering terribly at the moment.
“I swear, I’m going to kill that nerdy Earth kid for introducing her to this crap.” The eldest twin grumbled as she slammed her head onto the messy work desk in front of her. Her pillow knocked over a pencil cup and an empty test tube.
The younger twin nodded her head silently, her eyes never breaking from one of her many computer screens, her pale nimble fingers flying over the keys.
“What’re you doing anyways? Trying to make electricity with your space potato?” The ship was blessed with a moment of silence as the sound system was preparing for the next terrible Earthen song.
Nova ignored her guest and carried on with her business. “Isn’t that the squishy asteroid thing we picked up outside?” Another round of silence. The eldest grew a tick mark from her sister’s kuudere personality, but the expression was turned into one of confusion when Nova read the computer screen, “Under attack...Galra...Help.”
“What?!”
Nova ignored Nexus again as she typed in the coordinates the space spore produced. With a chime from her computer, she turned the screen to her Nexus. The image on the screen provided all the answers.
“The Olkari?” Nexus asked. Nova nodded in affirmation. Nexus nodded firmly, “Let’s get this to miss leader, before she makes us all deaf.”
“We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I~”
Nova and Nexus shared a horrified look before sprinting out of the lab and to the main deck. “Not this song! It’s awful!”
______________________________
The sight before the mighty Paladins of the Legendary Voltron was not at all what they were expecting.
When the Paladins heard whimpers and wails behind the cell door, their immediate thoughts went to torture, but last time they checked, a romantic movie with the Romeo and Juliet troupe wasn’t torture.
The Black, Red, Blue, and Yellow paladins shared a dumbfounded look with each other.
“She loves you!” Their mission’s target was sobbing like a baby, his eyes never tearing away from the holographic movie screen.
The paladins approached the kidnapped king. “King Lubos?” The black paladin asked. Confusion swam in all of the paladins’ minds. Both the king and his chained assistant turned to the newcomers.
“Who are you? The jesters I requested?”
“Ummm…” The blue paladin started awkwardly, “We’re here to like...rescue you?”
The king made a noise in the back of his throat and discreetly pressed a button on the side of his recliner. The lights flashed on momentarily blinding the occupants, and the main doors slid open. Red lights and sirens flashed all around.
The Galran base leader stalked into the room with a vicious smirk. They were caught!
“You could’ve just said ‘no thanks’.” The yellow paladin remarked towards the traitorous king.
“Looks like someone came to rescue you, your highness.” The base leader smirked in amusement.
“You turned your back on your own people to save your own skin.” The black paladin accused, offending the Olkarian King.
“I’m doing this for my people! They wanted to fight the Galra, but they’re too powerful. The gala could destroy us!” The king tried to defend his actions, but it was a blatant excuse and the Paladins knew it.
“So you helped enslave your people to build some super weapon?” The blue paladin hissed.
“Don’t make me the bad guy!” King Lubos snapped and pointed a finger toward the base leader, “He forced me to do it!”
“Did he force-feed you too?”
The silence spoke a thousand words.
“You’re no king.” The red paladin piped up before charging at the Olkarian king. The royal tried to scramble away, but was head-butted by the chained assistant and thrown into the paladin’s grasp.
The red paladin raised his bayard toward the king’s throat. “Ok! We’re walking out of here! Anyone who tries to stop us and Lubos gets it!” The paladin’s teammates spluttered from shock of Keith’s sudden declaration.
“La-sai, what’re you doing?” The king whimpered towards the angered assistant. “You betrayed our people, I can’t live this lie anymore!” La-sai stated with a deep glare.
“You don’t want me to hurt your genius engineer, right?” The red paladin returned his attention to the Galra commander.
“Oh, be my guest~ His work is done. The cube is complete.”
“What?” King Lubos exclaimed, sweat dripping from his forehead. “B-But, I thought we had a deal!”
“Guards, put them all out of their misery.” The commander smirked. The Galra soldier bots’ guns lit up as they began to charge its ammo, but before anything could happen, an explosion shook the entire building. Red laser blasts cut through the wall and separated the paladins and the Galra.
Through the newly formed hole was a mysterious ship. One that only the Galra could identify.
“Valkries!” The Galra leader was choked on the large clouds of smoke.
“Need a lift?” A female voice called out through the plane’s speakers. The paladins didn’t know who or what side they were on, but they needed a quick escape and the world presented itself with one. Hastily, those who sided with Team Voltron climbed onto the ship’s nose and held on tight. The pilot backed out from the building and sped off towards the forest.
“I got pick up, Artemis. Light ‘em up!”
“Roger, Luna!”
A plane nearly identical to their rescue vessel, other than its color scheme, soared past them and began laser assaults on the main building as well as taking out all the Galra posts surrounding the base.
“Who are you?” The black paladin shouted over the wind. He tried his best to distinguish their rescuer, but with both the tinted window and helmet visor, the Shiro could only see the pilot’s silhouette.
“An ally!” She answered with a thumb’s up.
“Shiro, Lance, you guys okay?! Who is this?” The green paladin asked through their comm link, tailing the foreign plane into the woods.
“We don’t know, they said they’re an ally.” Shiro answered back.
“Here’s your stop!” The pilot said as she hovered above the ground, nearest to where the Olkari village was settled.
“It’s the Geidi Prime Valkyries!” An Olkarian exclaimed, triggering the rest of the populace to flock towards the plane, all cheering and waving.
King Lubos practically threw himself off of the plane’s nose and went onto his knees, his forehead buried deep into the ground. With the Valkyries here, he was toast now! He began to vomit out praises and apologizes, beginning for his safety.
“The what?” Lance asked the nearest Olkarian to him. The alien brought their hand down from the air and clasped them to their chest in a lovesick manner. “The Geidi Prime Valkyries! They’re the best of the Geidi Prime brigades whose mission is to stop all Galra! Much like yours, mighty paladins.”
The paladins observed the medium-sized ship. It had more length than height with its nose being the most prominent and decorative. Along the hood was painted outstretched wings with a sword running through the middle. Down its body was a mint green stripe, and numerous painted tally marks dotted the line. It had four thrust engines with a laser cannon on each of its four wings. The wings themselves formed an ‘x’ shape.
The pilot saluted to the crowd through the window, before swinging back around towards the Galra base and hitting its thrusters. As seemingly fast as their own lions, the vessel swerved through the trees and out of sight.
The Olkari crowd continued their cheering even after she left. Pidge was unashamedly a part of this crowd.
The paladins stared at their youngest with raised eyebrows.
Pidge chuckled sheepishly when she finally realized the looks her team was throwing at her. “What??” She asked innocently. “Did you see those Incom 5H5 fusial thrust engines?! And the LP8 laser cannons?!” Pidge continued on with her fangirl rave.
Hunk, Lance, and Keith recoiled when Pidge began to drool.

“All bystanders are free from the battle zone.”
“About time! What’d you do? Have a pint of mead and flirt?” You snorted.
Artemis was always the first to respond, and always with a sassy comment. “I wouldn’t have minded, the one in black was cute.”
“Whatever, Luna.” You grinned at Nova’s annoyance.
“Are you two done with your lovers’ quarrel up there, because the Galra’s newest weapon is on the move.” Gemini was the next to come through the link.
“Alright, alright, what you got for us, Apollo?” You asked. Your eyes trailed on the weird black floating cube in front of you.
“So far it hasn’t done anything, but cruising along the planet’s surface.” Nova’s smooth, monotone voice answered. “Gemini and I are still trying to hack into the main base to get intel.”
Both Valkyrie ships cruised parallel to each other, staying a good distance from the cruising cube: the Galra’s newest war machine.
“It’s just a dumb cube, what’s it gonna do? Shoot lasers at us?” Nexus wisecracked with a smirk.
The purple lining of the cube flashed and formed a- “GAH! I didn’t mean it!” It seemed the weaponry had heard Artemis’ taunts and fired a laser at her.
“You just had to go and taunt the thing didn’t you?”
“Shut up and help me!”
You rolled your eyes and went to assist your partner, who became the target for the cube’s lasers. You fired lasers at the cube, the bullets only being absorbed and no damage coming to the cube. You became the next target, as the cube started firing its lasers back at your ship. You just managed to flip your plan just in time to avoid being hit with the rapidly fired lasers.
“Great! It absorbs power!” Artemis shouted angrily. Both female pilots swerved out of the way from lasers as the cube continued to relentlessly fire at them.
“Apollo, get me a weakness!” You exclaimed over the comm.
“Trying.”
“Artemis, fall back so Apollo can figure it out.” Nexus sighed in frustration and pouted. She came out for a fight and now-! “AH!” She screamed out again when a large vessel flew past her, nearly clipping the end of her right wing.
Gemini gasped, “Oh my stars...I-Its…”
“Is that-?”
“It’s Voltron!”
The four Valkyrie’s stared at the robot in awe.
“So it’s true…” You breathed.
They all watched as Voltron tried to fight off the cube, but the Paladins had yet to realize the cube’s power as they used one of the robot’s special powers to try and defeat the weaponry. Not even a moment later did the cube retaliate with its own power and the mighty robot was thrown to the ground like a rag doll.
______________________________
“Ouch!” The Paladins yelped from the hard landing.
“You all alright?!” Shrio asked through the comms. He sighed in relief when he got responses back. “Good! Now let’s: Form Sword!”
______________________________
The Valkyries watched Voltron summon its sword and slice the cube straight down the middle.
“T-that couldn't have worked...right??” There were now two cubes floating. The pair flashed a blinding light, before returning to their black and purple coloring.
“It can split up?!” Nexus shrieked in the comms.
“Weakness! Now!” You commanded.
“We’re trying!” Ishoël answered back.
Voltron retaliated and sliced the cubes through the middle, but their victory didn't last long as now four cubes flashed and came back online. They began to surround Voltron and fire their lasers at the large robot.
Voltron used its shield to deflect the lasers, but in no time the robot had difficulty protecting all its sides from the four fierce cubes, and eventually, the robot separated into five individual lions.
“I’m going in!” You punched your right throttle forward, your ship lurched back into the fray.
“Finally!” Artemis cackled and followed you in.
You flew past one of the cubes that chased after the red lion, instantly gaining the cube’s attention. The cube fired its lasers at your plane, but you were quicker.
With both throttles, you maneuvered your plane into summersault to avoid the lasers. Upside down, but leveled you fire your lasers against a second cube that was relentless upon the black lion. You swerved your plane to avoid colliding with the weakened lion robot, but now you had two cubes chasing you.
"T-there's no weakness!" Gemini stuttered through the comm link.
"What do you mean there’s no weakness?!" Artemis screeched as she did the same flip maneuver to save the blue lion.
"The cubes were made by the Olkari, they make their tech flawless with no abnormality. No matter who or what the weapon is for.” Apollo piped up.
To make matters worse, the green lion was shot down by a cube. Its mechanical cat body rocketed back into the tall forest.
“Ah!” Artemis grunted when a rogue laser struck the tip of her X-wing. “Oh no you didn’t!!” She roared in anger and fired upon the third cube. The Valkyries’ lasers did nothing to the four cubes, but with all chasing the pair, the beaten-up Voltron lions sat out and tried to recuperate.
______________________________
"What are they doing?!" Keith grunted out as he and the rest of the Paladins watched as the Valkyries played tag with the cubes. Pidge had been shot down and was unresponsive and now these strange planes were doing another reckless thing!
"I don't know, but that is probably the best piloting skills I have ever seen," Shiro stated in awe as the two planes dodged and spun away from the array of lasers.
Keith and Lance pursed their lips, mainly the latter. Both thought their flying skills were exceptional, yet only to get shown up by a group of mystery pilots.
"They can't hold on much longer," Keith said as the purple-painted Valkyrie had smoke trailing out its wings.
"We gotta get back in there!" Hunk exclaimed as he and the paladins moved to enter back into the field.
"Guys, hang on!"
"Pidge!"
______________________________
"I can't keep this up all day, miss leader!" Artemis clenched her teeth as she dove into another nosedive. She winced again when another laser shaved off a piece of metal from her laser cannon.
As much as you never wanted to admit defeat and raise a white flag of surrender, you couldn’t help but agree. Sweat had built around your temples and your knuckles began to throb from how tight you squeezed the throttles.
Would this be it?? Would you and Artemis be shot down because these stupid cubes couldn’t be defeated?? Would this be the end of the Geidi Prime Valkyries??
“Got ya!” Pidge cheered in victory as she shot a large bright green laser at one of the cube’s on Artemis’ tail. The laser hit the second cube, causing the glowing purple lights to turn green for a moment before an army of vines erupted from the center of the cube. The long, heavy vines coiled around the edges of the cube and the Galra weapon fell out of the sky.
The second cube left Artemis and chased after the green lion, but Pidge was ready. The lion simply spun around and aimed its newly formed cannon at the cubes.
“Aw come on!” Artemis whined. “He just stole my thunder!” She pouted, hands loose on the throttles now that the enemy was off her six.
“Want some of mine then?!” You grunted out as you spun your ship into a tight freefall. You could feel your seat growing hot and on your screen, the left bottom engine began to illuminate orange.
“Luna!” Artemis punched her ship back into gear and intercepted the second cube trailing you.
It felt like you were back to square one with cubes following both planes. "Thanks, Artemis! Now, let's line it up for him!"
Both Valkyries did one last aerial flip; You pulled up from low in the air and flipped upside down again. Artemis did the same, coming from high above.
You both grinned up at one another through your cockpits as you passed each other. Green lasers came from the side and shot at the final cubes.
You sighed out in exhaustion and relief, while Artemis did flips and spirals as she whooped and cheered.
“Did you see that flip?! I’ve never flown upside before!” She cheered.
“Very impressive, sister.”
“Nice job, Artemis!”
“Watch out, Luna! I’m on my way to steal your wings!”
You rolled your eyes in amusement. “Whatever you say, Artemis.”
Gemini came through the comm links again. "Information has been extracted, and the Olkari are invading. All Galra ships are fleeing."
“Roger that, Gemini. Let's go, Artemis." Both Valkyries turned their planes toward the Galra base and cruised off. The Voltron lions followed close behind.
The blue lion appeared at Artemis' side and started to pull ahead. The pilot narrowed her eyes, he wasn’t....was he?
Artemis smirked before hitting her thrusters, leaving the blue lion in her dust.
Lance blinked in confusion before gaining a smirk of his own. “A race, huh? Not on our watch! Let's hit it, Blue!”
"I want to thank you and the rest of your team." Ryner shook Nova and Ishoël’s hands in gratitude.
"We're just doing our duty to the galaxy!" Ishoël grinned before the three of them turned their attention toward the sky. They blinked to avoid dust flying in their eyes as two Valkyrie ships and five Voltron lions landed.
Nova and Ishoël rushed up to the x-wing fighter planes; Ishoël looked like a goofball as she ran with her arms high in greeting. Nova simply followed behind her with a small smile.
The Voltron Paladins rushed out of their own lions to properly meet the Giedi Prime Valkyries. Their attention went from the planes towards the two people on the ground, all of them gasped when they spotted a human girl with dark blue hair tied in a low ponytail that hung loosely on her shoulder, a pair of goggles sat on her head, and tool belt hanging loosely from her hips.
But what surprised the Paladins was the- “Galra!” Keith snarled as he pulled out his bayard. He charged at the tall Galra female with his teammates right on his heels with their own bayards.
The pilot of the purple Valkyrie plane hopped out of her cockpit and landed in between the red paladin and her own teammates.
The Paladins, minus the raging red, were surprised she made such a landing from that height without injury. “Hold your horses, tomato head!” The pilot shouted as she held her hands up and peeled off her helmet.
And it was like slow motion.
The pilot was female and looked nearly identical to other on the ground. Identical twins, they all presumed. But half of the pilot’s head was shaved down with the other half being a sweaty, windswept mess.
Hunk snorted, “Tomato head.” Keith snarled at him.
Lance was all goo-goo eyes and hearts.
“What's going on here?” Their attention turned to the new voice.
And it was like slow motion.
You approached the group and peeled off your helmet. Your long bubblegum pink hair spilled out of the helmet and down her back in a high ponytail. You looked between both groups for answers.
“Just another Galra mistake, Luna,” Ishoël answered with a wave of dismissal. Her fluffy purple ears flicked as she smiled shyly, showing off her sharp, pearly white fangs. Her golden eyes turned into little crescent moons with her adorable smile.
The black paladin cleared his throat and stepped forward. He took off his helmet to show peace.
And it was like slow motion.
He was tall, handsome, and boy were his gray eyes pretty. His hair was jet black except for the tuft of white that hung into his eyes. A long, jagged pink scar covered his nose, but to you, it made him even more interesting.
Nova elbowed you out of your daydream.
“We’re sorry for our mistake. I-I’m sure you can understand why-”
“Please don’t worry about it. I’m well aware of what my people are doing. You don’t need to apologize.” Ishoël waved off his apology.
“Ishoël, you’re such a saint.” You cooed as you stepped beside her and wrapped your arms around her forearms. She was too tall to properly wrap your arms around her neck.
“You work with a Galra?” Keith couldn’t believe his eyes.
Hunk, Lance, and Pidge had taken off their helmets and sheathed their bayards; Keith hesitated for a moment before following his team.
“There are many Galras that don’t follow the regime. We have lots of Galran refugees in our ranks.” You answered simply. Nexus nodded firmly with her arms crossed, she shot a stink eye on the red paladin.
Your small smile dropped into immense surprise when the green paladin launched herself at your face. Stars had replaced Pidge’s eyes and she stared up at your squad as if you were royalty. “On Geidi Prime right?? We’ve only heard about your planet here and there, but actually seeing you guys in action! Your planes are gorgeous by the way! They’re technological masterpieces and the engines and laser canons- WOW!” Her team also had looks of surprise, never had they seen Pidge fangirl so hard.
Nova stepped forward and- “Thank you! Finally, someone appreciates all my hard work!” The Valkyries matched the Paladins’ shock as they watched their tech wizard come out of her shell and speak so happily.
“You made them?!” Nova nodded with a loud hum.
“That’s AMAZING! I have to see the technological advancements and mechanisms you guys have!”
Stars floated around the pair.
“Of course!” Nova took Pidge by her wrist and dragged her towards Nexus’ beaten plane.
The two battle squads continued to watch the pair with wide eyes and gobsmacked.
“Guess Nova’s found a new friend,” Ishoël commented.
Nexus flushed pink with jealousy and marched over to her plane, angrily grumbling about how no one will steal her twin away from her.
Lance slinked up next to you and Ishoël with his usual cheesy smirk. “So what’re your guys’ names?”
Ishoël smiled with her fangs again. “My name is Ishoël. Nova took off with your friend and Nexus is her twin.” She pointed over to the plane with the purple-painted pinstripe.
“ ‘Nexus’, huh?” He slicked back his short brown hair and readjusted his blue and white chest piece. “I can work with that.” He strutted off confidently towards the older twin.
The remaining Valkyries watched him go with surprise.
“Ignore him.” Shiro huffed in amusement and annoyance.
“That’s Lance, our resident flirt,” Hunk answered with a snort.
“He’s terrible at it though.” Keith rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.
“So, there’s Lance, Pidge was stolen by your friend, this is Hunk and Keith.” He introduced the yellow and red paladins at his side. “And I’m Shiro. You are?”
Ishoël pinched your side so you wouldn’t sigh out the black paladin’s name like some love-sick fool. You cleared your throat and swallowed down the butterflies. Good thing Ishoël was good at reading you. “Captain (Y/n) of the Geidi Prime Valkyrie Squadron, a multi-awarded Ace and one of the leading generals for the resistance~”
You grew pink as your hair at Ishoël’s words. She didn’t have to give your full title!
Shiro stepped forward and held out his hand. “Pleasure to make your acquaintance. I’m eager to work with you in the future to liberate the universe from the Galra Empire.”
You smiled and grabbed his hand. “Let’s go end a war.”

here to ask about your volleyball au!! what are the dynamics between the teammates? how long have they been playing together? please tell us anything and everything!! I'm SO happy to see an au focused on the voltron girlies, this is what has been missing fr
hello!! this is kinda long lmao
when they first started playing together (around 5yrs before the au is set) allura and romelle were kind of the intimidating older tall people, but after a while the teams younger half got more comfortable with them and being around them as friends. when pidge joins the team (someone left leaving the libero position open for her) it becomes just as awkward again. after a while she assimilates into the friend group but often ends up just being a wallflower at the socials/ awards.
romelle and allura have been playing together the longest (since they were kids) and have been dating for a while. they tend to end up in a leader/ mature adult position because they're the oldest and are meant to know how things work, but occasionally they have slip ups.
veronica sort of became team mum after a while considering she's the oldest sibling and is used to always sorting out arguments and having a bag of snacks and whatever anyone else may need on her all the time. she's the one people go to on the team if they are uncomfortable with something or they just want a hug.
leifsdottir, rizavi and pidge bonded over being in the same class at the garrison (which functions the same way in this au, still a flight academy) and never really became close friends, just people that you'd wave at or say a quick hi to in the corridor. leifsdottir and rizavi themselves are in the same friend group outside of the garrison, so they end up much closer together.
pidge herself isn't an outcast; she's a wallflower. people know her name and she's fairly kind to everyone but she can never seem to figure out if they mean their kindness in a way of "hey, come join my group i really like you as a person and want to be your friend" or "i'm being nice but i don't really want to be your friend" (they mean it the first way). but, recently, she's gotten considerably more comfortable with the people on her team and has started to branch out (yay pidge!)
the team competes every two weeks or so, once a month in larger tournaments. their main competitors are the blades of marmora female division (consisting of acxa, ezor, narti, zethrid, plaxum and nyma (not galra i know but still they fit the vibe of the uniforms more)) . the ga cadets currently hold the national junior title but it isn't looking great for them against the blades of marmora to keep it

Galra courting and relationships
Hey, I decided to make a whole article about it to get everything in one place and not just a twitter thread.
Warnings: 18+. Mentions of ruts, heats, a/b/o dynamics. Mention of almost non-con (nothing happens, but if that triggers you, I put a warning before that paragraph). Includes some of half-altean Lance hcs.
Galra counting in the nutshell: Klance relationships at the start (s. 1-2). Really competitive, rival-like, fighting all the time. Galra believe that every strong relationships starts with a hint of hate at first (kismesis *cough*)
A bit biology for the start: I consider galra, like humans, have two different sexes. One which can fertilize, one which bears kits. But it's okay for them to have same sex relationships. Couples like that considered to be one of the best nannies and every pack with kits wants at least one same sex couple with them. They're the best nannies cuz they usually don't have their own kits (if they didn't find or stole one (yeah that happens)), so have more time on them, but have all the urges to care for a kit. Unmated galra usually don't have interest in kits much.
For galra it's important that their mate would be able to protect them and their kits. And it's not only "males should protect", no, females also strive for their own strength. They need to be strong in case something happens to their mate and they need to tend them and take care of their kits. But it's hard so that's why they prefer to have a pack before having kits.
So ideally both galra should be equally strong for each other. If they are, they're considered as perfect mates. If one mate is much stronger than the other, then they're can be seen like they're using the weak one. Also the weaker one can be seen as lazy or shady.
In general, out of courting, galra fight each other a lot. It's the way they build their status and hierarchy in society (like alpha, omega and that shit, but without mpreg lol). Tho, being just strong isn't enough, they also have to be smart too, but it's a bit less important. No one listens to you if you’re weak, but smart. So weak galra search for some stronger friends or a pack (but not mates as I mentioned before) who can help them to make others listen.
Yeah, talking about a/b/o things. Galra aren't very emotional species. But they can understand other's mood with body language and scents. Keith got that part in him. He may be considered as an autistic human, but perfectly normal and even really emphatic galra.
Unmated galra show off their scent any way they can, so they can find someone who likes it and they try to start courting. Though, don’t be mistaken with abo pheromones and their sweet scents. Galra sweat and stink like humans. For some this scent would be too strong and disgusting, for others it’s sexy as hell.
When two galra like each other’s scents, they start to fight a lot, mostly physically, but a good banter is welcome, cuz it keeps relationships interesting. If one of them is weaker, the other can offer to help them. It's part of their flirt to ask to spar together and help with training.
So when they satisfied with each other they can have their final battle, sometimes with their family watching. Galra don't have weddings, though this battle can be considered as one. It's important for them to get a tie, but to show their best and not to hold back.
But it's not a must and not most of galra follow that tradition. The battle is mostly for warriors or high-status commanders. Usually galra satisfied with play-fights and just get closer as romantic partners with time.
When it's done, the pair is starting a serious relationship. And it's final. Galra mate for life and won't look at anyone else until their partner dies.
So, galra romance. They bite. A lot. They can kiss, cuddle at later stages of courting, but bites are saved only for mates. Also, they fall in love only when they are close to be mates and for them love at fist sight doesn't exist. But crush at the first fight? Hell yeah.
When they're mates, galra start to scent each other. They have big gland at the nape of hair (yeah, where the mullet is), lil glands near ear and jaw, armpits, between fingers and at their groin. So yeah a lof of places. It's important for them to smell as their mate. Scenting each other can bring them a lof of comfort and helps to de-stress.
If one is known to be mated, but doesn't smell like their mate (like after the shower or just sweated a lot) and just smell like themselves, they can be considered as a whore, who's trying to lure others with their scent.
It's mostly social thing, they don't have any instincts about it, but bc of that mated galra prefer to smell like their mate, perfume or not to smell like anything at all. Close analogy would be our rings after a wedding. Better to be there, but if not then sheesh, why are you trying to hide that you’re married?
So yeah, if you're mated galra, you better not to be smelly. But bc of that they're quite neat and thoughtful about their hygiene.
After galra mate and start regularly to scent each other, they go into the 2d puberty. Before that their body considered as a teen one. That means: not yet fully developed at their full potential and really low libido. But don't not mistake them as human teens, galra brain is almost done developing and they act adult. Though galra prefer to be mated sooner than later.
2d puberty is about starting to even have a libido and have it high, being with their mate a lot and growing larger and stronger. Also they start to have regular cycles of heats and ruts (3-5 days per 2-3 months). That's the only time when they can have a kit. Cycles are usually synchronized but if not, it can be helped with meds.
The first heats and ruts are really like in the messiest a/b/o fics, but with time and when the puberty ends, it's mellowing down and they're quite ok to control themselves and even go to work at this time (but it mostly depends on their own biology. Halves don’t have it that strong like pure-bloods). They're attracted only to their mate after all so no one really cares. The only problem is not to smell around much.
So yeah the first few years are the "honeymoon" years, when the pair have much more higher chance to have a kit if they’re common male/female pair. Same sex couples would get an urge to care for children of their pack or any baby they find.
Though even with that they're quite okay to leave their mate for long periods of time. It's caused by their evolution. Ancient galra would separate with their mate to find food for quite long time. But they are still okay with being around a lot and living together, they just don't miss each other much, don't long to be together all the time. They're quite fine knowing that the mate is alive and maybe some text messages or video calls would be good.
So separation anxiety can be ok only for kits and their parents. And openly missing your mate after like 1 week of separation would get you strange looks from galra.
That's why Krolia left her mate so easily. But it was harder for her to leave her kit (plus Keith was MUCH weaker than usual galra kit and Krolia had a lot of anxiety bc of that). Parents are much more hesitant to leave their kit even with other parent or members of their pack. Galra are very caring parents and prefer to have their kits with them most of the time. Zarkon is quite a deviant here.
So Keith and Lance would deffinetly get strange looks and Krolia would be concerned cuz "It's unhealthy to depend on each other so much". For galra their relationships would look like that annoying couple who shares accounts and goes EVERYWHERE together and are miserable and check their phone 100 times per second to see if they send them a new message.
Oh, about jealousy and cheating. Galra usually don't cheat at all, they don't have hook ups or something like that, they're extremely loyal. The problem lays with the other species who don't mate for life. If they do, galra can easily be turned into crazy yanderes and would try to remove "the problem" and get their mate back to them. Or if the mate tries to "break up", heartbroken, they can kill them and end their relationships once and for all. Yeah, they are dramatic.
Getting back to Klance.
Basically Keith and Lance already married and Keith is a REALLY jealous partner. But, we’re gonna start from the beginning.
Keith was fucking SURE that Lance was flirting with him from the day 1, but he didn't really done much with it because:
a) Lance should prove himself first;
b) Keith's shy. It's the first time when a cute boy flirts with him just in the right way after all! But that what he thinks, on Earth people were constantly flirting with him, but it went right over his head.
So when they got together, oh boy, they are fucking inseparable. Keith would cling to Lance like his life depends on it, but would be really shy at first. But when he got over it, Keith would start to bite Lance A LOT and to scent him like a mad man. Keith have smaller glands, he doesn't have a big gland oh his nape, but a few smaller ones there and near jaw, also usual ones everywhere else. But because his glands are smaller, his scent is weaker and it takes more time to build up his scent on Lance.
He always cuddles Lance when they have time and rub his face all over him. Lance is like "ok that's prob some keitn/galra (depends when they started dating) thing" and just reading something or play with his phone while Keith rubbing his face on his neck, biting it and purring the whole time.
i've got a fanart of Keith scenting Lance! thank you!!
One time Lance went to breakfast with almost fully purple-blue neck.
The team obviously panics.
"WTF DID SOMETHING BITE YOU ON THE LAST PLANET??"
"Nah, the 'thing' that bit me is hiding in his room"
"What"
"Well, Keith BETTER be sorry and embarrassed, it fucking hurts!"
Coran let Lance use a pod for 10 mins. Keith was hiding for the rest of the day.
Also Keith’s possessive af and jealous of every alien who looks at Lance the wrong way. Keith doesn't really know why he acts like that and he almost thinks that he's going crazy. But once they meet some friendly galra (or maybe Krolia) they explain to him that he's going through 2d puberty and it's only starting.
(Non-con mention here)
Yeah, Keith is actually starting to go crazy with his high ass libido and first ruts. At first, Lance is amused and quite horny too so it's perfect for him. Though, it wasn't really fun, when Keith tried to get into Lance’s pants with force once cuz his dumb hormone brain thought that Lance is playing and not trying to get Keith off. But Lance is quite capable to wrestle him down. If he didn't Keith wouldn't even got interested at the first place.
(Okay you're good now)
They talk and discuss their limits and it's quite okay next. Though Keith would deffinetly get this "I’m a monster" mindset for some time after what happened. It would take time to get comfortable with this kind of thing, cuz first ruts are quite brutal.
I won't go into any details with galra anatomy here, but Keith deffinetly have a knot (though it's not big due to human half of his biology). Lance sure is scared of that, cuz they don't have anything for this kind of sex in space, plus Lance didn't do anal before. So they stick with other activities for some time. Though who knows what they'd do next. In his rut Keith doesn't care if he's the one giving or receiving, the important thing is orgasms.
With his mate and time Keith starts growing a bit faster than in canon. He got grizzled much faster and Lance's LOVING it. Before Keith had a "teen" body, like almost none body hair. Guess what now. He can grow purple beard (he doesn't cuz it looks dumb) and has hairy legs, arms, chest. For him it's uncomfortable, just he lived without it quite fine, thank you. He prob would like to get it removed lol (Lance's against it cuz hairy bf hot and sexy).
In contrast Lance doesn't have hair on his body at all cuz of his altean heritage. Alteans, like an advanced race, just removed that shit from their DNA.
Oh, funny thing: Galran word for "mate" translates on altean as "life-partner" and that thing translates on english as "husband/wife".
Imagine the team surprise when on some meeting with Blades Keith just casually says "Oh, Lance's my husband" when they ask him about it. (For galra Keith is quite young one and marmorites are like "What? You're already mated? Isn't it a bit too soon?" so that's why the asked Keith why Lance smells so much like mated galra.)
"Wow, babe, at least give me the ring first"
"Huh? Isn't it a bit too fast?.."
"You just said that I'm your husband!"
“I said that you're my mate!"
"Well, you see, number 4, galra mate for life, so you can say, that you're already married"
"..."
"Say what now"
"Okay… but we still need a wedding for my family, they'd kill me if we don't! And I want a pretty ring! I have size 9!"
And Keith after his first embarrassment is just like "Well, I did wanted to marry you anyway..."
"JGUHGUJSHUF KEITH"
Krolia would have lose her mind (internally cuz she has a reputation) about it and def go to threaten Lance and give him a shovel talk. Not-galra mates can be not really loyal after all.
"You, human, threat him well"
"You, the mother that left him, threat him well yourself!"
Krolia thinks that she likes her son's mate.
Well, that's it, don't have anything to wrap it up. Though, I could talk about Klance and kids. Keith would def have an urge to steal some galra baby to take care of. Sometimes it'd be hard to convince him to give the baby back to their parents. Plus they're at war and Lance is like really not ready for that kind of shit.
But if this is all after s8... They could start a family with baby galra on their hands.
Thank you for reading this long text! Please don't be shy to let me know your own thoughts and hcs!

life as a galra prior to the galra empire was so long ago that any records have been easily burned and scrubbed out of existence
the galra are relatively mammalian and reproduce similar to most earth mammals, i.e. there are two sexes, the sex that carries the eggs and the sex that fertilizes them. however galra are space cats so they often have twins or triplets, more often than they bear singular children.
galra raise their children in group homes not unlike real life orphanages. within the empire, fertile adults are assigned a partner by the sages that they’re expected to (attempt to) breed with. this arrangement does not involve anything resembling marriage, love or even affection (though sometimes affection is born regardless). the two adults are sent to a facility in which they have weird sex rooms where they attempt to breed. Generally speaking they then leave and never see each other again. this is considered an awkward if necessary way one must serve the empire. sort of like the way we see going to the dmv . if the “”””female”””” partner is pregnant within the next few months, then they will be given mandatory leave from their duties to focus on the pregnancy. after the child is born, the medical facility they are born in takes them away from their parent and sends them to the children’s home.
to be a nurse/nanny/whatever we’re calling it is a revered job that is not envied. multiple nurses will oversee the raising and teaching of young galra. young galra are taught about the history of the empire (propaganda), the glory of the empire (obviously) and, depending on the nurse’s opinion of the child’s prospects, things related to skills they will need in their adulthood careers. galran children do not choose their path in life. instead, the nurses decide where the child would be best suited to serve the empire. this is generally decided very young, as to have a more focused education.
parents do not get to see their children after they are born. they do not even get to name them. the “”””male”””” parent often will not even be informed if the “”””female”””” parent was successfully impregnated. this is not considered cruel, this is their normal. parents do not know their children.
this is sort of also true for the blade of marmora, but manifests slightly differently. the blade do raise their children away from the adults, but they are communally raised by the group. they take shifts on who plays nanny for the younger children, but there are dedicated teachers for the older ones. this means that in the BoM, parents a) do usually name their children, though not always, and b) often at least know their children. but this does not lead to a parent-child relationship as we would conceive of one
galra relationships in general are a game of distance. the galra actually value manners, politeness and following social rules of conduct very highly. intimacy in public is a huge no. and by intimacy, I don’t just mean physical affection, but rather, any display of any kind of connection. even if you are madly in love with someone, in public you are expected to be as cold and distant with them as everyone else. this leads to a sort of event horizon in which galra find ways to communicate with one another in shared glances and code that don’t violate the rules of conduct. this differs depending on the people; it may be double entendres, outright aggression, or a designed code to speak in. all just to do things like ask the other to swing around their room later or something
it’s normal and expected for galra to form relationships of course. but the people involved will be judged on their ability to be subtle. if people can figure out your relationship, you are failing. all of this goes for all types of relationships, from platonic to familial to romantic. plus, they have no concept of marriage, or a life partner. romance is as fleeting as anything else in the galra empire. (You will be similarly judged if you start noticeably acting pissed off around someone as well. if people can figure out you just went through a breakup, you are failing the social rules of conduct.)
parent-child relationships are the only place where the social rules of conduct are different. because encountering one’s adult children unawares is a pretty common situation in the galra empire, it is expected that, if both parties come to realize this, the child should try to best their parent at what it is their parent specializes in. (so people in the military would duel, that sort of thing.) this is because the point of “breeding” in the galra cultural consciousness is, pretty specifically, to make better and stronger children. government matches are chosen based on favorable traits that will lead to stronger children. so a child is expected to “prove” themselves so to speak. so a lot of the time parents won’t reveal themselves to their children in order to avoid unnecessary hardship
and now I present to you: keith and krolia
