A Federal Court in the United States (US) recently rejected the appeal of the TikTok Application or “App” to overturn a Law which required it to be sold to US Companies or be banned there by early next Year of 2025.
TikTok said that they will now take the fight to the US Supreme Court, but it remains to be seen if they will be banned or not while their Case is in the SC. Actually, this Government of Bong Bong Marcos (BBM) was already eager to ban the App before because of its ownership by a Chinese Company, but was hesitant to do so because of its popularity.
But if the US does ban the App in their Country, then I am sure the Philippines will follow right away because they will use that as justification, and the Country is now, of course, a subservient Dog of the US.
TikTok isn’t and won’t be easily replaced by other Apps because of its unique Algorithm (which means a set of Instructions or Rules designed to perform specific Tasks or solve Problems) which allows ordinary People to have a better chance of going Viral in their Platform.
This Algorithm is actually a “Trade Secret”, which is why China will not allow the Company to be sold to other Nationalities. So either the ownership of TikTok by China stays, or it will be banned in the US.

Stick His Wallet In It
She did it. At least for the time being and we’ll take it. She shut him up. E. Jean Carroll was able to do what nobody else in the country has been able to do. A. Get his attention in a way that no other person has done about a subject that he obviously did not deem worthy of his notice, i.e. women and their bodily autonomy. Women have always been toys and tools to him in ways far more…

News from Australia, 18 July
Constitutional expert Prof Greg Craven is furious at being quoted in the no campaign's essay and will complain to the Australian Electoral Commission.
Craven accuses the no campaign of misleading conduct and criticizes their essay as embarrassing, while prominent yes campaigners slam it as cooked and filled with misleading information.
The no essay includes quotes from Craven that oppose the voice, despite him publicly supporting it, leading to accusations of misleading and disreputable tactics.
2. Labor plans to scrap the policy that strips government subsidies and loans from university students who fail half their subjects.
The interim review of the university system highlights inequality in higher education and the need to address student safety and staff underpayments.
The government aims to increase university enrolments and boost participation from disadvantaged backgrounds to meet the future skills challenge.
More on this:
The majority of Australians will have a university degree in the next 15 years, emphasizing the increasing demand for educated workers. The Australian government recognizes the need for changes in the university system to make it more accessible to students from various backgrounds, including those from outer suburbs, regions, poor backgrounds, students with disabilities, and Indigenous students. The government has outlined immediate actions to address these challenges, such as abolishing the 50% pass rule, increasing funding for First Nations students, establishing additional Regional University Study Hubs, and providing support for universities to improve governance.
3. The Federal Court in Australia has ruled that the government's plan to build a nuclear waste dump on the land of the Barngarla people in South Australia cannot proceed.
The court found that there was "apprehended bias" and "pre-judgment" by the former resources minister, Keith Pitt, in deciding on the location of the facility.
The Barngarla Determination Aboriginal Corporation (Bdac) had challenged the decision, arguing that the minister had already made up his mind before the formal declaration.
The Barngarla people celebrated the court's ruling, stating that it was a victory for listening to and respecting First Nations people.
The government had spent nearly $14 million in legal costs fighting the Barngarla people's opposition.
Environmental campaigners argue that the waste should be kept at the Lucas Heights facility in Sydney instead.
The current resources minister, Madeleine King, said she would review the ruling.
4. July is bowel cancer awareness month in Australia. The National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) is a digital platform that aims to increase participation in screening programs for bowel and cervical cancer.
5. A new report has found that more Australians are living alone than ever before. Based on the latest census data, the Australian Institute of Family Studies report found more than one in four households, 26% are now occupied by one person. The average Australian household has shrunk from 2.6 people in 2016 to 2.5 people in 2021, the first decrease in household size since the year 2000. Those living alone are mostly women at 55%, with half the women living alone aged 65 years or older. The report also found that Australian households are more diverse, with more than 1/3 their immigrant households and increasing proportions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders [per Nirs News/Triple A | Murri Country].

George Santos to Plead Guilty: The End of a Political Tale?
🚨 Breaking News: Former Rep. George Santos, who famously faced a deluge of fraud allegations, is gearing up to plead guilty in a federal case. Santos, once a rising political figure, is expected to change his plea during a federal court hearing this Monday. 🤔 With 23 federal charges, ranging from wire fraud to lying on official reports, his political career has taken a nosedive since his election in 2022.
Santos’ downfall began with reports he’d embellished his resume, and soon escalated into allegations of more severe fraud and financial misconduct, costing him his seat in Congress by a vote of 311 to 114.
What do you think? Is this the final chapter in Santos' political saga, or could there be a comeback in his future? And what does this mean for political accountability in general? Let's discuss! ⬇️

Prosecutors investigating former President Donald Trump’s influence on the 2020 election in Georgia can compel South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham to testify, a federal court ruled Thursday.
Graham’s claim of immunity to the investigation’s questioning was rejected by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit in Atlanta.

The three-judge panel ruled that Graham can’t be questioned on his professional communications associated to the legislature, however his private conversations with Trump and other Georgia officials are fair game.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis filed petitions with the judge overseeing the special grand jury as part of her investigation into what she alleges was “a multi-state, coordinated plan by the Trump Campaign to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.”

Willis, who took this unusual step of requesting a special grand jury earlier this year, has confirmed that she and her team are looking into a January 2021 phone call during which Trump pushed Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” the votes needed for him to win the state.
She has stated the team is also looking at a November 2020 phone call between Graham and Raffensperger, the abrupt resignation of the U.S. attorney in Atlanta on Jan. 4, 2021, and comments made throughout December 2020 Georgia legislative committee hearings on the election. Raffensperger and other state officials have already testified before the special grand jury.

The investigation is separate from that being carried out by a congressional committee that has been analyzing the events surrounding the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as Congress was certifying Biden’s victory, in addition to the Department of Justice’s own sprawling probe.

Did you know? ....it is possible for a defendant to remove your case filed in state court to Federal court?  Yep.  Can be done as a matter of right under certain conditions.  This means that a case you intend to bring in your local circuit court can be converted to a Federal court case.
1.) There must be complete diversity of citizenship.  This means that the plaintiff and defendant must be from different jurisdictions. 2.) There must be enough money at stake - to be accurate, $75,000 or more.
Let's say that you are a Virginia resident and sue your corporate insurance company in Illinois for bad faith.  In that suit you ask for damages of $100,000.00.  You file in Russell County Circuit Court.   The defendant insurance company can file a Notice of Removal and the case will be removed to United States District Court, Fourth Circuit, Abingdon Division.  Yep - that's how it works.

Federal Court dismissed 900 immigration judicial reviews On December 17, 2021, the Federal Court of Canada published a report regarding the timing for the issuance of orders dismissing applications for leave and judicial review in IMM proceedings. According to the report, between July and December 2021, the Federal Court dismissed 900 immigration judicial reviews but could not issue the certificates of Order to applicants due to the limited Registry staff. The report states that the processing backlog for these Certificates of Order will be resolved soon and be sent to parties by the end of March 2022. #FederalCourt, #processingbacklog, #IMM, #CertificateofOrder https://www.fct-cf.gc.ca/en/pages/representing-yourself/procedural-charts/application-for-leave-and-for-judicial-review-immigration (at Canada) https://www.instagram.com/p/CYjrOnqL-rU/?utm_medium=tumblr
