here we go! I went a long stretch where I wasn't reading much fic at all but I've been catching up lately (the past week fjdkslj) (I've been tagged in this a couple times I think but I can't recall by who I've just had this draft in progress for a while I'm SORRY :/ )

Anyway, It's About Old Friends by @fragilecapric0rnn - endlessly complex and such a feast of character dynamics and the way they shift and change and grow over time, I cannot recommend this one enough, it's the post-UD When Harry Met Sally AU that you NEED in your life

god has never loved a woman the way I do by @judasofsuburbia - the second part in a wild west au series that is so full and real and unbelievably tender that I simply don't know what to do with myself about it. For both parts (Steddie pt. 1 and Ronance pt. 2) there is so much beautiful rumination on the nature of choice for these people and the simultaneous risk and worthiness of choosing each other like. help me???

and they were roommates by @yournowheregirl - I've only read the first part in this series but I can't wait to dive further into it. Ronance finding that no matter how nervous they were to actually go after each other there is actually so much natural simplicity to touching and feeling and kissing and!!!! joyful PWP for the girls it's what they deserve

never made it to graceland by @cheatghost - beautifully, gorgeously, perpetually ominous first chapter with such perfect Eddie-isms and Munson Family Moments and prose, just the first chapter alone has me feeling deeply fulfilled while still so ready for more. I am a lover of "the world ended but we're still here" and this is already giving me that in DROVES please join me in scratching at the walls about it

I Look to You to See the Truth by @sharpbutsoft the Erica Sinclair coming of age in her freshman year of college-slash- lesbian self discovery story of my DREAMS featuring your favorite idiot4idiot steddie and dearest robin and overall what a delight from start to finish

Hi! Just wanted to say that I binged BMO 3 weeks ago and I’m STILL having withdrawals. Every new levihan fic I start just pales in comparison, your writing has ruined me. Like absolutely nothing can fill this void. It’s become my favorite fanfic of all time, and it’s made me feel emotions I’d never thought I’d feel. Your take on certain tropes is just so, so refreshing. The pacing is perfect and satisfying and it’s everything I could ever want from a story. And the way you depict levi and hange is SO FAITHFUL. Their internal monologues, their banter, their personalities, everything is just so perfect and hilarious and I wanna thank you for giving me the best time ever. The Levihan fandom is small and cosy, but we're so lucky that it's full of quality fics, all kinds of AUs, and the most talented writers and artists. I haven't read many new lh fics in the last year or so but some of my all time faves are:

Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin (I read this after publishing Paint and Progress and omg I wish I had read it first because this book is goals and inspired me in a million levihanny ways),

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir,

A Little Life by Hanya Yanigihara (I met her this year omg I was starstruck),

and Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series.

I have loads more but don't want to make this a whole book rec essay 😅 My life changed dramatically a few months ago because I got a new job and moved away, so I'm exhausted and making a new life for myself, but I'm enjoying every moment even if it means I have tons of overtime work and zero energy for fanfic writing. Fooled Around (and Fell in Love) - Part 3 is so buzzy to me. For many reasons, but here are some of the main things:

1. This is the longest consecutive amount of time I've spent writing one fic. I'm at around five-ish months?? (Part 1 only took ten days, Part 2 took two weeks)

2. This is already my longest fic by a long shot and it's not even finished being written. Currently I just finished writing CH 23 and in total I'm at around 140k words (my current longest finished fic is 101k)

3. Like I said, I just finished writing CH 23. But I've only published up to CH 14. So at any given time, I have to freaking remember what's been published and what hasn't been. Especially when replying to comments.

I read my partner each chapter as I write them, so then they ALSO have to be careful in the comments 😅

4. This entire instalment was a self indulgent fic mostly written for my partner bc this is their fave series. So to have so many people support it and read each week's updates and leave lovely comments has been so incredible. I'm constantly blown away 😍🥺

5. I did some planning on it today and it's possible I'm only... Halfway done writing it????? Idk, I never know when fics will come to an end, so we'll see. But yeah, this whole fic has been nothing but a delight to write.

I know I've said this 100 times but, honestly, thank you so much to everyone reading this series. I've poured so much time and love into it. (and I'm trying to be proud of myself about it 💜)

Hello!~ I wanted to make a list of some of my favorite fics I read in 2021. It’s hard to narrow it down to so few, as I read many wonderful fics over the past year, but I’m going to keep it at 10.

These are in no particular order! Pretty much all of these works are 18+.

Piece of You (series) by @dntaewithluv

Ok this is cheating but I can’t not put the whole POY series on here (blonde pizza boy JK is too powerful and Kenz made him that way). My fave from the series though is Today’s Special Is, but the entire collection is amazing. Every single adventure this couple goes on always leaves me wanting more, and this is definitely one of my favorite series here that I come back to read again and again.

Yes it’s another series but there are more-so parts than chapters...anyways everything Nikki writes is absolutely astounding and I love all of her work. Reading lowkey was such a fun journey to be on as well since I was around for when each part dropped, so there was also something for me to be excited about each week.

When I say I haven’t ever read something quite like this I really mean it. This is definitely a fic that will stick with me for a long time; Quinn is amazing at creating characters and storylines that just captivate you from the start and this is absolutely one of them.

Blue hair JK with a cute fluffy plot and top tier writing, what more can I say? I’ve loved everything I’ve read by this author (which is a lot) but this one has always been my favorite.​

Last, but certainly not least in the slightest, is this fic that was basically my introduction to the fanfic community here on Tumblr.​ Like I mentioned earlier, Quinn writes very impactful stories, and this is probably the one I remember the best (and have re-read the most). It also in a way lead to one of my greatest friendships and I’m thankful for that, too.

Ok so...maybe this turned out to be more of a fave fics/series list - but the good intention was there.

I may start making monthly lists of fics I read and add them to my fic recs blog but we’ll see!

1. My fave fic of yours. It’s a toss up between A Dark Ocean and Where Roses Bloom. Your swan queen is just my favorite swan queen. Also not only is where roses bloom a delightful fic but your whole stardust series is 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾. Not to mention I just have fond memories of reading those stories and that time in cartinelli fandom. (Each Kiss an Inspiration was posted the day after my bday btw). Anyway you’re the best and I’m forever in awe of your talent. 💜

I loved reading this note and am so happy to have received it from you! I remember those magic Cartinelli days - dang, that first season of Agent Carter was so much fun. And the writing that came out of that first season was phenomenal, from you and from so many authors! It's funny too because I really, really loved Steve and Peggy, and maybe because I loved their love I wanted Peggy to continue to have MORE love and then bam, enter Angie. I liked giving Angie a backstory bigger than what the show provided, with a house full of family to go home to during her quest for independence and success. And even more than that, a found family of queer friends and good neighbors who would go to bat for her any day of the week.

I really love being a beta reader for my fave HG & yandere series! I read it again after luna posted it here on tumblr as usual, cos i love reading it again sjdhdh. As I've said befo, I rly love Joy's characterization, how luna wrote her, and all the characters of this series too! Yn's too kind it hurts. Luna's prose is intriguing and amazing as ever, I laughed at yn having a breakdown bec she couldn't believe Joy would want an alliance with her! 💀😭 I find yn relatable cos i had disassociated before bec of sum personal sht, it's almost laughable but das not the point here-

Joy was so sassy and lovely, and if it weren't for their huge differences, mayhaps they'd still be allies? But I'm so glad u made them break the alliance (i didn't even catch the hint that was at the top of the ch. At first- cos my ass is sick with this stomach flu sowee n im also an idiot 🤠🤓) im glad u made them break it off cos I love the thrill of not knowing what happens next, I almost thought it'll be predictable; Joy and YN would team up, get their revenge on JK- end him, but I'm rly glad u made it unpredictable!

Tho i can't help but think of what ifs, what if yn didn't break off the alliance? Would Joy still be alive? Would JK not find her? I hope yn doesn’t torture herself with guilt tho, if she also think about these what ifs. Also, this line/paragraph, the foreshadowing! "Your intuition screamed at you to abort this plan, but you were forced to remain silent and follow her lead for you didn’t have any better backups to present to her.  You just couldn’t help but feel like you were doing the wrong thing, as if you were heading towards the beginning of the end." my opinion is that YN meeting JK again, marks the beginning of the end. N to think they met at the top of the mountain 👀😉

Jk is like the end for yn. lmao or her sanity 😭 im stoked to see their interactions! Stoked to find out if she'll escape him, or she'll pass away at his hands, if they'll both perish at the hands of someone else by the name of [redacted] SHSHHS i can't wait to read the next chapter frrr! But tysm for writing this chap amidst the pandemic we're facing rn. This truly brought me joy and a good amount of serotonin 👅 pls take care luna dun forget to relax too! I'm rooting for u n i believe in you! We all do! 💜 I'm gonna read the prev. Chaps for the nth time now cos i feel like im forgetting stuff n i just wanna read it to get that same happy feels 😜 I wanna say more but i feel like this review is already too long so im just gonna end it here sjdhdh ily n fighting!

Looking forward to the rest of Light of Dead Stars!! The ending of the latest chapter had me like 😔. Things were going so well. Will Seri make appearances in future chapters? If I remember correctly you mentioned side characters will have their own happy ending. I love your explanation about Seri having agency. It was refreshing to read.

i’m also watching the heaven official’s blessing donghua!! however with that, i haven’t watched the latest episode yet bc again, i am terrible 💔
