Or when the author's entire maternal side of the family devolves into political arguing over Lunar New Year, the author needed stress relief.
The orange carrot still sucks ass, but talking about him is exhausting enough. Debating makes it worse.
So with rereading the SERAPH manga adaptation on MangaDex on the flight home at the tail-end of January, friends (@partialdignity, @withanina, @avicebro, @fatedtime, and @xviicprc, especially, shout outs to you all because you're great) encouraged me to take a break from LB7 to write for stress relief and character exploration.
Here we are. Exploring the consequences of two Robin Hoods being present on Seraphix.
AO3 link here. OST playlist here, with all the new songs included.

So Part 1.5 is finally done, honestly kinda neat considering how much shit people give this part. I kinda like how fiction itself is an overarching theme with Moriarty making story characters real, Scherezade actually creating a fairy tale pocket dimension and the theme of plays and stuff in Salem... also Shimousa was there I guess, like that feels like more of a Part 2 Prologue than an actual part of 1.5 since it doesn't really match the themes and structures of the others

Finding out the official title for Moriarty’s Shinjuku finale boss battle is “The Proposition (math/logic)” as in a mathematical proposition. A statement that is either true or false, and can be proved.
Because he’s proving after his entire life and work and death and years after, his original proposition, to the world. His life’s work equation. He’s proving the dynamics of an asteroid. It’s his life in a song. In a moment.
But he’s also not. In math it’s a true or false statement, with no middle ground. And it’s up vs Ritsuka’s assertion he’s a good person they were right to have faith in, and isn’t going to betray them and kill them. Either he’s right and the world is going to end, and the devil’s bullet hits you, or he’s wrong and his entire life’s work is going to be thrown away for the well-being a teenager he’s known for a week. It’s his proposition, but he’s also the proposition himself. The song is him and his entire life. I

...fucks sake FGO just make a event about gender and sexuality.
This is such a Trans statement it's insane.
Resident Trans-Woman talks about how she had to lie about who she was instead to not be proclaimed a heritic, following about how it eats away at you to hide who you are, and how she doesn't want her student to face the same torture.
Mash who is also kinda Trans-coded with "not being a real girl" and her inferiority to "real servents"(girls). Along with her epic of Remnant story being about being a "real person(girl) but no longer being able to fight(oh hey HRT muscle loss).
This is so fucking Trans-coded, I'm not sure they could code it harder if they where trying.

while im reminiscing about old fate fandom anyway, i think it's hard for anyone who got into the series through fgo or even just after fgo got big to realize just how much impact fgo had. it outright changed how people talk about the characters, before fgo it was viable and common to refer to every single servant by their class and what installment besides fsn they were from (lancer, zero lancer, extra lancer, ccc lancer) and each instalment that had multiple of a single class always provided some other option to refer to them with that would differentiate them while keeping their true name secret (red and black factions in apocrypha, red saber casko and red tea for playable extra servants, launcher for karna so liz could be ccc lancer).
fgo was an actual gamechanger because it was the first time readers were just given every servant's true name upfront and were expected to use it instead of their class. on top of that there'd been several mentions of servants that fit multiple classes before fgo but fgo was the first time we actually saw any servant summoned in an alternate class, making class names even more useless because not only did "fgo lancer" not mean anything but lancer in fgo was also a caster.
for years after fgo's release the type moon wiki clung to its page title name scheme of "[class] - fate/[whatever they're from]" because until fgo (which released 11 years after fsn) that was the most sensible and spoiler-free way to refer to servants and it took a very long list of "[class] - fate/grand order (true name)" pages for them to give up and change every servant's page title to their true name.
fgo tried to get back some of the mystery of true names with epic of remnant but they didn't manage to make it stick or really recapture that magic, and by now effectively nobody really refers to servants outside fgo by class anymore either unless they're veterans like me, and even then most of us only stick to doing it for the fsn servants. fgo has made it much harder for any fate story to write its mystery around true names anymore because out of necessity it has caused fan spaces to no longer respect the mystery of true names.
