Here is a collection of photos i took of my garment modelled by my friend. These were to showcase to garment on a person rather than a mannequin, these were all taken at the cannon hall museum where they will be exhibited later.

Overall i was happy with how the outcome of the dress as a whole and personally i think it does look different when worn by some-body as it really brings life to the garment and i think it looks better . It was difficult to only pick a few photos to showcase as there were many amazing photos took all around cannon hall

Do you ever think about how if we didn't have the 2019 theory, we could have possibly gotten MCR back sooner? They were together since 2017, and when they announced the comeback, it was late 2019. Most gave up on the theory, and MCR was running out of time to make the prophecy come true. And they said that if the didn't come back now, they never would? If they came back sooner, we could have had concerts sooner, ones not postponed for years. But, if they went on tour as MCR, what happens to all those side projects? The nostalgic emo renaissance would be happening in a different timeline, one BEFORE TikTok! Aka, before the nostalgia trend had existed, fueled by a desire to go back to the 2000s. My Chemical Romance is a big deal, them coming back when they did has an impact we cannot fathom. And what if they waited so long because of us? What gets me about Callum is those suits be custom made & still fit poorly. Like why is the jacket so loose? Why are the pants not hemmed properly?! He gotta be asking for them to fit that specific way & I think he’s a criminal for that 😭

the major takeaway from last night is that Karl Lagerfeld was more of a personality than a designer and that Yves Saint Laurent was the clear winner of that rivalry.

For those who aren’t familiar, Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent were both fashion wunderkinds who emerged in the late 1950s, both appointed heads of major brands at the same time, and had very intense rivalry. Yves Saint Laurent took over Dior after the passing of Christian Dior, helped cement the brand as a major player in fashion, and then after a disastrous stint being drafted into the French army, built his own fashion brand that went down in history with its unique and diverse and always evolving looks.

Karl was always kind of behind Yves. He designed for a lot of major fashion brands, and managed to establish himself at the top of the game at Chloé, but he didn’t get his full on legendary status until he took over Chanel in 1983. This history of the Chanel brand was already pretty frought, with Coco Chanel modernizing and defining the fashion of the 1920s and 30s, but being forced to shut down during World War 2, during which she collaborated with the Nazis. Behind the Bastards did a pretty great two episodes on her. When the brand returned in the 60s, fashion had changed tremendously. Dior, Givenchy, Balenciaga, and Balmain had all taken over mid-century fashion, and now that aesthetic was being taken over by mod, the miniskirt, and the likes of Mary Quant, Pierre Cardin, and Paco Rabanne. So when Chanel came back it was largely seen as a stuffy old lady brand, which it remained until Karl took it over.

Now, this is where Karl actually did something really impressive that you honestly can’t take away from him: he took a fashion house in severe decline, one that had been in its flop era for literal decades, and he made it hip again, while still managing to stay true to the ethos that Coco Chanel had laid out.

Chanel is clean, minimalistic, and classy. It is easy to wear, effortless, and always extremely glamorous, which is what made it so iconic in the 20s and 30s. Given that the 50s and 60s were all about making a fucking effort, the thing that the brand managed to keep doing well was its suits. You know what kind of suits I’m talking about. Tweed jackets and midi skirts, neat tailoring, delicate pastel colors, pearls and camellias and chains. It’s not so much that it was edgy and exciting but it was expensive and it was *Chanel* and people wore it for the status symbol alone. That is what Karl took advantage of and managed to re-invent.

That sort of aesthetic fit perfectly into the you-can-never-be-too-rich-or-too-skinny 80s, when wearing status symbol clothing was everything.

Then, in the 90s, he managed to keep things exciting by following exactly what was on-trend at the time and incorporating elements of street wear and hip-hop.

However, after that, he kind of lost his edge and just rested on “it’s Chanel” rather than actually pushing the fashion envelope. By the time he died in 2019, he was a fucking dinosaur and fashion had long since moved past him. The thing that he was ultimately most well known for was his own very distinctive look and flamboyant personality.

Before I ever started studying fashion, I knew who Karl was because I’d seen him so many times, and I’d seen parodies of him so many times. I knew *him* but I didn’t really know his work. And I think having an incredibly boring Met Gala dedicated to him reveals that: his actual artistic legacy is skinnier than the models he used to berate. Karl Lagerfeld built his brand on his diva personality, and that sort of personality and outlook just isn’t hip anymore. Fashion is always about moving forward, and Lagerfeld’s beliefs should remain fossilized in the past.

You had just signed a contract with vogue for a new segment they were trying out for they’re YouTube channel called “Under the Covers”. It was in a podcast style in a bedroom setting hence the name and basically talking about the latest fashion trends tips or anything black girl related.

You were so grateful for this opportunity never in your life would you have imagine a little black girl from London was able to sign a massive deal with vogue. The topic of todays video was maintenance. How you maintain standards for yourself if that means relationship, mental or physical health. So instead of it being in their studio you wanted your video being a bit more homely so why not in your home. The producers had set everything up in your room making sure everything was ready for filming but this video was going to have a little extra twist. You were going to have your very first guest and they how they managed to maintain their life and overall humbleness with the fame he had gained over the years.

You kept your relationship on the down low on the respect of each other careers and not wanting to surround your relationship over it. You were actually calm with that but he wasn’t liking seeing people he fucked with in your dms with heart eyes.

Little did Yn know he was going to announce it in their video together.

If I had to live with four outfits…

Haven’t done one of these since 2019! My fashion style has evolved a little bit (but not by too much - a lot of my clothes are nearly or over 5 years old now). I've been thinking a bit about how I approach dressing myself in comparison to others - apparently there are people who have ephemereal wardrobes, as in, they only wear a piece of clothing once and/or churn pieces constantly to the point of not having a vision other than trend-follower?? That is mind-boggling to me. Anyway, this is a thought thread that I'll prolly save for the Blog. But looking at these OOTDs (above and below) it's funny to see the aesthetic I put out through my outfits. Whimsical??? Maximalist???

the war between the fashion gaijin landmines and edgy little tiktok kids who forbid people to wear style(/j) continues i wont uncover any new information. i just want to remind you that looking for idols to dictate your thoughts is bad, as well as not being open to alternative opinions in a discussion you will also not be able to get exactly the 100% right information from communicating with a japanese person. there are reasons for this - 1) misinfo and lack of knowledge, 2) cultural differences, 3) language barrier. dont expect that every japanese knows more than you do from your fav influencer just keep in mind that jirai kei trend started with people imitating toyoko kids "psycho bitches" by dressing up in girly brands and doing byoujaku makeup. jirai was "based" on clothes that were already on sale at the time. they couldnt suddenly go from "yeah we sell girly" to "actually this fashion is called landmine". landmines still wear girly (not to mention other jfashion), and girly fashion, just like any other, changes the clothes worn by toyoko kids existed before 2020. girly, yamikawa, goth punk, mizuiro, etc also did not appear after 2020. look at the old pre-2020 girly brands' releases and you can easily call them jirai. for example, here's pre-2020 (2019) liz lisa:
