Before there was Xavian, the sweet-and-spicy bodyguard space elf... there was Five. An equally smart but deadly gargoyle-like alien just trying to get the F off the planet so he can be left alone in peace.

He gets more than he bargains for, of course, when he crash lands in the Netherlands and meets Sanne.

Parents aren't supposed to have favorites, but as an author, I definitely do. Stroopwafels & Starlight's Five and We Own the Stars's Xavian are two of my favorite MMCs I've written!

If you read and enjoyed We Own the Stars, then I highly recommend moving straight into Stroopwafels & Starlight.

Something I haven't mentioned in the past because it never comes up in the plot itself is that yes, this book is still inherently queer, because Five is pansexual! If you're cute, have a cute personality, then you're game to him.

Sanne, on the other hand, is straight. No one has asked me about her, but I figured I'd mention it anyway hahaha.

I’m about to dive so much deeper into my cosy fantasy era 😅

Isn’t it pretty? There’s so many details on the cover art, it just screams cottagecore and if you look super close there’s a winged floof too!

Not to mention:

Did I mention our mc Kiela is also a librarian? Or, former librarian at least 😅

Unfortunately for her, she has to flee that life when the Great Library protecting the city’s magic burns as a revolution sweeps in! Luckily enough, however, she DOES manage to pinch as many spellbooks as she can carry first and after witnessing how the empire has sapped the magic from the land, she opts to open up her own spellshop to make things right!

BUT, it’s not as easy as it sounds especially when the punishment for sharing magic with commoners is death!

I’m kind of envisioning this having similar mid-stakes to Treason Without Tea, but I’m already highly intrigued by the world! Not to mention the sentient spider plant?!

Tropey but good/fun fantasy romance book recs anyone? 

I recently finished Fourth Wing and while it read like a good fanfic (and I mean that in a good way), I really enjoyed it and want more of the same... 

My basic criteria are:

3rd person (’he/she/they said’, not ‘I’), but if it’s really good I’ll consider first person narrative :)

Love a juicy ‘enemies to lovers’ trope...

Fantasy over sci-fi

No non-con (arrogant bastard behaviour is fine)

Fae, vampire, supernatural, demon, werewolf, shifter etc. all welcomed

YA is fine, but preferably not a school/teenage setting please (I’m too effing old for teenage protagonists now).

Romance, any combination of genders involved is fine, spicy or not is also fine

Books of this type or similar that I’ve already read and which might be recommended:

Sorcery of Thorns & Mysteries of Thorn Manor (loved)

Fourth Wing

Tried ACOTAR etc. and really didn’t enjoy so don’t worry about recommending that series

Ninth House & Hell Bent (loved)

A Discovery of Witches series (gave up after the second one)

The Hollow Ones (loved)

The Lies of Locke Lamora etc.

Edit: Legends and Lattes (adored it)

Hopefully someone else will get a recommendation out of this too!

It’s been a while since I last read a romance, but I recently remembered that I read and liked the first book of the Elven Alliance series, so I decided to check out the next one. And I can happily say that it did not disappoint! Essie and Farrendel are always a joy to read.

Okay now this being my first ever post i rlly rlly should mention how good Powerless by Lauren Roberts is cuz damnnn tht is one of the best romances I've ever read!!!!

And smthing that i really like abt it, is how strong Pae is and im not offending anyone but unlike others there are rlly few scenes where Pae is seen vulnerable...

And Jesus Christ !!! Kai and Pae are soo good!! And the fact that their romance being one of the best even when there was not a single kiss or a "I love you"!!!! Ahhhhh the wait is going to kill meee🤧
