2020 (Fanfiction) In Review

I was tagged by @fontainebleau22 so thank you!! I’ve been in a handful fanfic competitions so the list of fics will be under a read more.

Takeaways from reflecting on your kick-ass writing, or kick-ass lack of writing, during a year more focused on survival than perhaps any other:

Hyper-fixation is a blessing and a curse. I’ve written a lot, but other parts of my life have not been as well tended. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished however. I’ve tried a fair few new fandoms and had a really great time.

Most surprising fic you wrote this year:

The Moment of Sunlight has surprised me the most because it’s my most popular fic ever. The Old Guard was unexpected but enjoyed a lot. I also wrote a Snily fic (very much not my cup of tea, for a friend, and that would have surprised past me). 

How you grew as a writer this year:

I’m no longer nervous when I’m posting a new fic or entering a new fandom. Very much a case of ‘fake it, til you make it’ and it’s worked. I’d like to think I’ve improved in my writing, but I’m happy with what I make and that’s what matters the most.

What’s coming in 2021:

Better organisation! I want to continue my partial Witcher! Jaskier series and work through the prompts in my inbox (sorry to anyone who sent something, I will work on them). I am going to try and find a better balance of hobbies.

What's the most arousing Namor moment?

Probably when he aroused the crabs...

lmao, but seriously it depends on what you like? there’s lots of sexy moments in the comics but from what other fans tell me, that moment when Namor was a thot in Civil War, wearing his green robe, was the top moment. Followed by him showing up in Fantastic Four 1234, while it was raining. 

I personally love Jae Lee’s Namor in Captain America, the villain scientist starts freaking monologing about Namor’s body as Namor slowly walks up to kill them all, like... someone was definitely aroused there.

Kansas man who sent letter and mask to New York Governor gets honorary degree

TOPEKA, Kan. — Dennis Ruhnke of Troy, Kansas warmed hearts across the nation when he sent a letter and an N-95 mask to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, asking him to give it to a doctor or nurse.

Now, Denis is getting some recognition in his home state with an honorary degree from Kansas State University.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly amd K-State President Richard Myers awarded Ruhnke with an honorary bachelor’s degree in agriculture.

Ruhnke was studying at K-State in 1971 when he had to leave school to take care of the family farm after his father passed away. He was just two credits shy of graduating.

“After speaking with President Myers, we both agreed that Dennis perfectly encapsulates K-State’s democratic mandate to be of service to people,” Governor Kelly said. “Which is why I am very honored that I was able to help present Dennis with his well-deserved bachelor’s degree in agriculture.”

Ruhnke earned praise from across the nation after he sent the letter to Governor Cuomo, who read it aloud at a news conference.

In his letter, he explained that he recently retired and sent the mask after keeping some for his immediate family members, including his wife, who has one lung.

“Enclosed find a solitary N-95 mask left over from my farming days. It has never been used. If you could, would you please give this mask to a nurse or doctor in your city. I have kept four masks for my immediate family. Please keep on doing what you do so well, which is to lead,” Ruhnke’s letter read.
