For the ask game, this question please.

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

This one is actually kind of tricky because it depends a lot on what character I'm writing and the circumstances they're in. Like, there are certain characters I feel closer to, or characters who have similar weaknesses and insecurities as I do, which means I'll react stronger whenever those are addressed.

But, overall, I'd say moments that involve a feeling of not being good enough, especially not being a good enough person or not being good enough for a relationship. And it doesn't have to be a romantic relationship — platonic or familial works too. Sometimes, that's even worse, in all honesty.

And that's probably because that's something I've struggled with myself. I had a couple of years during my mid-twenties when I was convinced I was an incredibly selfish and unkind person, simply because that was what I was being told by some of the people around me. We're talking full-on emotional abuse along the lines of: "you're a heartless, selfish bully and you're lucky I put up with you since you're such a terrible person."

And since it was from more than one person — and the people who disagreed didn't know about the abuse and therefore couldn't tell me it was bullshit — I believed them. Clearly, if more than one person tells you that you're not good enough — and those people don't actually know each other and can coordinate an attack — then it must be true, right?

So that kind of storyline always hits very close to home for me, because I know what it's like to genuinely think you're a terrible person who has nothing to contribute to the people around you. And I also know how difficult it can be to overcome, especially if you've lived with it for years. It's rough.

Fun fact: This abuse led to an existential crisis when I joined a Winteriron server on Discord (of all things) and I started talking to new people who, within literal days started challenging my perception of myself. I spent the first couple of weeks terrified of the moment people would stop talking to me because they'd figured out I was a bad person. But, spoiler alert — it never happened. Instead, they did the opposite, turning to me for advice and comfort, and telling me how kind I was.

And the whole thing came crumbling down, rather inconveniently, at 2 AM on my wedding night. Like, I legit asked my newly minted wife — who was trying to sleep — if I was a terrible person because, if I was, I figured she'd know. Or at least deserved to know, considering that she was now married to me. And her reaction was, to my confusion, not a confirmation but something along the lines of: "What the actual fuck? You're one of the kindest, most generous people I know. Why do you think I married you?"

It was, as they say, A Ride.

And my wife has now decided that any future existential crises must be scheduled between 7 AM and 11 PM because she needs her sleep, dammit.

(She's obviously lying — she'd listen even if it happened at 2 AM again)

🛠What tools/programs/apps do you use to write?

Mostly Google Docs. Sometimes I take notes in my phone's notes app. I use Google search for research, unless I can find an IRL expert (like @saranova for the charity gala chapter in Accidental Connection!)

🙋‍♀️ Do any irl people know you write fanfic?

One, but she's never read FW or my fanfic. She was my best friend and next door neighbor growing up and we used to write together for fun in our teens. (She dreamed of becoming a published author - a goal she achieved last summer!!) We're both super busy and don't talk as often now, but when I started writing fanfic I found myself thinking of her so often because it reminded me of our teen years, so I had to text her and tell her about it. (She was very happy for me and super supportive.)

I did tell a couple of IRL friends that I see regularly that I was working on the wiki for these books, which I figured would eventually lead to me confessing about my fanfic writing, but it hasn't come up yet. (They have no interest in reading FW, despite my gushing about it for a year now, so I think it would be low risk to spill the beans to them because they wouldn't go looking for my writing.)

Oh, also my husband knows to some degree... he knew I was writing my version of Book 3 and wanted to read it. I told him he had to finish books 1 & 2 first. He's not a big reader, so that might keep me safe forever. 😅

🎨 How do you feel about fan art of your stories?

I love it! @erose806 made this incredible graphic based on my Right Number series and I love it!! The idea that someone would take the time to create art based on something I wrote is humbling. ❤

🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?

It depends, but usually a bit of both.

For Long Time Coming, my post-IF canon-compliant fic, I had a fairly good outline of the first half of the story and I knew more or less how it would end before I even started writing. In my doc, I labeled each chapter and added bullet points for what would happen in that chapter. I continually built on those and updated them as I went.

For the Right Number series (a mostly unserious modern AU), I'm mostly pantsing it, though I do tend to write chapters in groups, so that I have an idea what will happen for the 3 or so chapters I'm working on at the same time. But once those three are published, I'm back to a blank slate (other than whatever plot points are established at that point). It helps that the characters have routines in this fic, so though I don't have a strict outline, I know that I need a movie for Friday nights, smut for the weekends, game night on Tuesdays, etc.

🤭 Do you have a favorite tag to use when posting your works?

I like to think I'm very succinct and practical with my tags (meaning, I usually tag all the sorting things (characters, fandom, dynamics) and then occasional warnings or specific characterizations to guide the readers about where I'm positioning myself in my fics) and then tend to ramble in the notes. I sometimes wish I could be a funny tagger like other authors but alas, my mind goes blank beyond the operational use for the tags.

That being said, while I haven't used them often, Competent Anakin and Argentinean Anakin are two of my fave tags to add, the first one because people are too attached to the human disaster characterization popular in fandom and forget Anakin can be and has been a BAMF several times in canon, and the second one because modern AUs Argentinean Anakin is a beloved of mine (in general, any non-US citizen Anakin I cherish, but I'm Argentinean so my biggest honour is making him Argentinean)

I have a very strong headcanon (which I go into in the WIP known as Flashback Fic 👀) that TK would misbehave and act like a total badass as a teenager and into his adulthood, but whenever Owen confronted him about it he'd burst into tears lol. 😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?

It’s not anything specific, but I sometimes cringe at whatever bland-name product ideas I came up with for the Duckverse. Granted, this is actually more so towards media than celebrities. Especially when there are some shows that exist in this universe that I couldn’t come up with a cleverly named equivalent to for DuckTales.

I love it! Don’t know when it might come along again, but it’s a nice feeling to get it. Still appreciate you for being the first, though.

🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?

Probably romance. I'm not a very romantic person but that's to be expected considering my, uh, psychological standing (sweats in ASPD). I've been told that the romantic and soft and family shit I write is really nice and feels real, but I'm just making shit up man, haha. I do a lot of self-projecting when I write sweet shit because I wanna give my characters what I can't have. ❤️Thankfully Turbo is here to make me brainrot and think about all of the sweet shit. Otherwise, the fics would be a lot darker than they already are.

😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

Like kill Sun's cats? OH YOU SAID PLAYFULLY-

🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

Any time Killcode acts like a feral cat I get a good laugh. He's just an oversized cat who acts like one too his lovers as well. Including play fighting them (much to Flare's dismay as he gets pulled away from tasks).

I do haha. My most popular nsfw fic is The Deal because that's the only one uploaded so far. TMiB is just the sequel to The Deal so it doesn't count.

🍦 What's the sweetest fic you've created so far?

Oooh that's tricky. I would say The Deal except that's got uh. . . death. lol. Probably Erros in Resentment just because it's me projecting on Eclipse like all fuck and he gets the happy ending that I think he deserves. Without more suffering. It's kind of my love letter to my disorder (ASPD) since Eclipse and Ruin both have it. There's something beautiful in the absolute devotion a sociopath can have to someone, the unwavering loyalty, and that's often taken for granted because we don't love in the traditional sense of the word. It's meant to show that people with ASPD can still be happy, and change, and grow and improve and live meaningful lives without causing harm to people around them. Not even just ASPD, but all Cluster B disorders. That someone who is aromantic by nature can still find happiness with someone else, even if it's not a romantic companionship, but rather just a sense of belonging. Like I said, it's me self-projecting on Eclipse, and Ruin also having ASPD? That was just the cherry on top for me. I can't promise when it'll get updated, though.

I've always been writing! I just normally kept it to myself or roleplays. I've been writing short stories since I knew how to write, though.

🤡 What’s a line, scene, or exchange you’ve written that made you laugh?

I'm not sure if there is such a line, to be honest. Mainly because most of the things I write aren't all that funny, but also because it takes a lot for me to laugh when it's my own writing. Because I already know the punchline before the joke's even started, so it's just not that exciting. If that makes sense?

That said, Yoon Sa Wol from Black Knight is an absolute hoot to write and there is one exchange in particular that definitely makes me want to cackle whenever I think about it. It's when he's talking to 4-1 (a coworker of his) and they accidentally stumble onto the subject of whether or not Sa Wol could have sex with 5-8 (the dude he is definitely interested in having sex with) and the following happens:

All things considered, it didn't seem like a bad idea at all. 4-1 didn't seem to agree. She gave him a flat look, as if the answer should be obvious. "He'd eat you for breakfast." Sa Wol paused for a beat but, really, the only thing he could think to say was: "I mean, wouldn't that be the whole point?" 4-1 let out a choked noise that sounded outright painful.

SA WOL, NO.

But also, kudos on being so goddamn shameless.

❌ What’s a trope you will never write?

I'm not sure if there is one? Because, sure, I'm not personally into mpreg or A/B/O but I can't say I'll never write them. Like, if someone gave me enough money to write those tropes, I probably would. We get money where we can in this economy xD

I think the closest I come to a complete "I refuse to write this" are the things I find triggering or just don't agree with on a moral level. So I'd have a hard time glorifying abuse, for example, or write something that involves incest or non-con between a romantic couple. The kind where transgressions are eventually forgiven or brushed aside because "they actually love them and it was just a mistake" and that kind of stuff.

There's a reason why I'm so determined to call out Yo Han's bullshit in my Devil Judge fics, for example, and why Moon Jo is such a lovesick simp in my Strangers From Hell fic. I find them to be incredibly fascinating as characters, but I admit I would never be able to write them doing something along those lines. They both skirt the line from time to time — which is sort of the point in some ways — but I try to criticise the behaviour rather than excuse or glorify it.

I kind of mentioned all of them when I did the WIP Tag Game not too long ago, so you can see what they are and read about them if you look at this tag right here!

But aside from that, I can say that I'm currently trying to edit and post chapter six of A New Dawn (Begins With Us), and, after that, I'm going to try and edit chapter 3 of The Right Set of Circumstances, and, after that, I... well, I don't know x'D I'll either try to edit Thou Shalt Not Covet or maybe I'll allow myself to write chapter 42 of Who Holds the Devil.

I'm kind of holding that chapter hostage right now since I HATE editing and would much rather write — it's just so much more fun. But if I only wrote and didn't edit, I would never post anything, so I kind of have to force myself to edit from time to time, too.

And it's extra annoying right now since I'm so feverish and that just makes editing ten times worse for some reason?

So yeah. I have a lot going on right now in terms of WIPs and it's kind of beginning to feel like a second job, not going to lie x'D

🤭 Do you have a favorite tag to use when posting your works?

My most commonly used is "Fluff and Smut" because it most accurately describes most of my writing.

But my favorite that I've ever used were the ones I put on my solstice gift. I love to read quirky tags and because we were able to have deep discussions anonymously with our giftees I was able to capture some of that in the tags, which was fun. My favorite was alluding to the fact that my giftee was scheduled to go to a kids birthday party on solstice and I warned her not to read it there, unless she had a good poker face. 😊

🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

You asked: do you have favorite headcanons about any of the side characters in the AC universe?

I just came up with some really fun background info for Bodhi, but that will come out in the next couple of chapters, so I'm not going to share that yet!

So I'll share this one that isn't likely to come up in this fic: I think Imogen is soft with Garrick when they are alone, which is why they are so private about their relationship, because she would never want anyone else to know.

📚 Would you ever want to turn writing into a career?

So, I have wanted to be a paid author since I was like…9 I think. I used to always have a novel in the works (and I technically still do) with the hopes of someday writing something publishable. The whole reason I started writing Star Wars fanfic earlier this year was actually because the novel I’ve worked on off and on for like a decade was making me feel crazy. The plot kept eating itself and I couldn’t make decisions about how to go about some things and I was just obsessing over bits of it that probably don’t matter that much. I really wanted to write for fun again, and I figured fanfiction could be a good way to do that since I don’t even have it in the back of my head that I could someday publish it. (If I wasn’t writing for something with such intense world-building as Star Wars, I might tempted to file the serial numbers off and try for being published, but…y’all have seen my endless whining about just coming up with names for characters. Do I sound like someone who wants to do a bunch of fresh world-building to cram my lightly edited fanfiction into to make it legally publishable?) And I was just getting back into Star Wars after three years of feeling personally victimized by The Rise of Skywalker, so it seemed an obvious choice.

I’ve mainly written grounded-in-reality YA fiction in the past and may try to pick that up again. I was reminded recently of a project I had started years ago and then abandoned in 2016 that I actually really like. The only reason I dropped it was because it involves the topic of eating disorders and ~*guess who was in the middle of a relapse in 2016*~. It just wasn’t healthy for me at the time to have everything I did, including my hobbies, be centered on the mental illness I was struggling with. But I’m, like, six solid years behavior-free at this point, so I might pick that project up again and see if anyone would be interested in it because I do think it’s a somewhat fresh take on the topic that I haven’t really seen elsewhere.

This was a really long way to say “yes, and I may even try to do it someday!”

💖 Which of your fics is your pride and joy?

I already mentioned it in another ask, but I'm happy to bring it up again here because it truly is my pride and joy fic; Like My Dreams. I've made it my mission to change Pete Dunham's fate and let him live a beautiful life that he deserves. It's definitely a passion project for me and is one of the stories I've worked the hardest on, bringing in various characters (OC's and canon) and doing my best to push myself with writing lengthy chapters and amping up the dialogue. It's not a very popular fic but that doesn't stop me from putting everything I have into it. I love it so much and read the chapters over when I'm in need of some comfort (like after I watch the film through to the end...😭)

🤩 What's the most meaningful comment you've ever received?

There's two I received recently that I haven't been able to stop thinking about and solidify every reason why I continue to be here and do what I do.

Yes I've kept them as a reminder whenever I'm questioning any of this.

While these two in particular have stood out, I will say that ANY comment I receive on a fic or through an ask means the absolute world to me. Comments seem so few and far between on fics these days, so I cherish each and every one that someone takes the time and effort to leave. They're all so special and it's the interaction and sense of community that's kept strong because of them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; it's incredible and we are so lucky to be on a platform that allows us the opportunity to communicate with our favourite authors and tell them what we loved about their stories, and I know every artist gets a boost of motivation whenever it happens.
