Wenn ihr Interesse an wissenschaftlicher Auseinandersetzung mit Fanfiction habt, schaut doch am Freitag, 24. Januar 2025 zwischen 10 und 14 Uhr vor Ort oder via Zoom bei der Studi-Konferenz des Fanficforums Frankfurt vorbei!

Thematisch geht es diesmal um Harry Potter Slash Fanfiction bzw. Smut, um Schoethe und um Slash allgemein.

Teilnehmen können alle Interessierten, egal ob Studi oder nicht. Wir freuen umso mehr, je mehr Personen dabei sind, denn das hilft, die Forschung an und mit Fanfiction in Deutschland bzw. an der Uni Frankfurt zu stärken!

Kapitel 3 — Der Junge, der nun die Last der Welt auf seinen Schultern trug

Atlas' Augen verengten sich. »Was ist das hier für ein Trick?«, fragte er misstrauisch. Die Angst in seiner Stimme war kaum überhörbar. War er tot? Hatte ihn der Geist nun doch endlich zu sich geholt? »Kein Trick. Nur Tee.« Sie schob die Tasse näher zu ihm. »Du kannst ihn stehen lassen, wenn du möchtest – aber er wird dir guttun. Das hier ist ein Gespräch, das man mit einem klaren Kopf führen sollte.« Widerwillig setzte er sich ihr gegenüber. Er hob die Tasse hoch und die Wärme des Porzellans drang an seine Haut. Das Getränk duftete süß nach Zimt und Honig und letztlich nahm Atlas doch einen kleinen Schluck. Sie hatte recht, der Tee tat gut. Atlas wurde warm und die Angst, die ihn bis eben noch völlig eingenommen hatte, verblasste. Er zögerte. »Wer bist du?«

Memories of tropical days

The tropics are another world, full of life, color and sounds that fill the heart with joy. When I first came to these places, I was struck by how the air here was heavy with moisture, as if every breath filled my chest with sweet nectar that gave me strength. The forests, tangled with vines and strange tendrils, seemed like living creatures shrouded in a mist of green and color. Huge trees spread their branches, creating a vault of leaves overhead, through which the sun's rays broke, turning into golden streaks like rays of hope in the thickest forest. On the branches of these trees lived monkeys, jumping deftly from one branch to another, their cries and laughter filling the forest with life and movement.

The birds here sang in ways I had never heard before. Their tinkling trills, melodious and varied, seemed to blend into a symphony that filled the air. I could spend hours listening to them sing, their bright feathers flashing in flashes of color through the dense green, like gems hidden in the shadows of the forest. Even the insects that fluttered and buzzed among the flowers seemed to be part of this living orchestra, each sound like a note in a melody created by nature itself. Huge butterflies, painted in unimaginable patterns, flew from flower to flower, making it seem as if nature itself was painting colors on the canvas of the air.

And the smells... The tropics are filled with scents that are impossible to forget. The sweet scent of ripe fruit, the spicy notes of flowers growing in the shade of trees, and the moist, rich aroma of the earth after rain all combine to create a dizzying cocktail. Mango, papaya, guava - their juicy fruits, so warm from the sun, seemed to contain the very essence of the tropics. I tasted each of them, and each time the taste was like a new melody, giving joy and sweetness of life.

The water in the tropics is also special. The streams that flowed through the forests sparkled in the sunlight like liquid crystal, and the seas that lapped the shores shimmered in every shade of blue and green. The waves were warm and gentle, as if the waters themselves were filled with life and light. I often stopped at the shore to listen to the waves gently touching the sand, humming an ancient song about the infinity of time and the power of nature. The coastline, lined with fine white sand, stretched into the distance, and the palm trees, their crowns leaning toward the water, provided shade to hide from the midday heat.

But perhaps the most impressive sight was the tropical night sky. As the sun set and day turned to night, the stars lit up the dark velvet of the sky with unimaginable brightness. They seemed so close you could reach out and touch them. The moon illuminated the earth with a soft light, and the jungle was filled with the sounds of nocturnal creatures - their rustling and cries creating an atmosphere of mystery, as if the forest were whispering its ancient secrets. Giant fireflies lit up the night trails like floating stars, and the deep, bassy voices of toads were like ancient incantations lurking in the shadows of centuries-old trees.

The tropics reminded me that while nature can be harsh and cruel, it can also be incredibly generous and joyful. These places were full of life, joy, and boundless energy, and even in their heat and humidity I found peace and inspiration. In every leaf, every flower and every sound, I saw and felt the greatness of Arda, its unquenchable longing for life and light. Every morning, when the first rays of sunlight gilded the treetops, I greeted the new day with gratitude, feeling that the tropics had not only given me shelter, but a new music, a melody full of joy, life and love for this wonderful world.

Websites for authors

Hello, lovely people!

Sometimes it's not easy to find certain things. You search and somehow only a few know.

It took me a long time to find good websites, and today I'm sharing them with you.

Google Maps → Most people don’t know, but you are able to create your own map on Google. It’s a little complicated, that’s why I suggest you to google it – otherwise write me, and I’ll try to help you. It’s very helpful and if your story is based in this world, you can easily mark places or change them. I love it!

Canva.com → You need a Cover, but don’t know how to start? This site gives you the opportunity to use fonts, templates and much more. Sometimes it automatically offers you pictures from pixabay.com, which are free to use. If not, you can also visit this site and check out if a picture matches your wishes. Play with it and watch how you create your own book cover. (It offers even more than covers, but I’m not going to talk about it in this post.)

Familyecho.com → If you want to create a family tree without much work, this will help you. It’s a great site, and you can actually see how everyone is related.

Korrekturen.de → This is a German site, and I’m not sure, how good it is for English. BUT for German writers, this is almost a must-have. It’ll correct your writing prompts and help you to think more about your text. You just have to remember one thing: It only allows you to correct 1.5k words at a time. If your writing is longer, you have to copy and paste all the time (like me!).

Lanuagetool.org → This is the alternative for every other language (including German). You can apply it on your browser, download it, or just use it online.

Worldanvil.com → If you want to create a whole new world, this site will help you. I haven’t checked it out in detail till now, but I really like it. You can create a history of a world, an atlas, encyclopedia and areas and a map – it offers everything.

Nuclearsecrecy.com → If you’re writing a story, where a bomb is exploding, you can use this. You can select the type of bomb, and then you’ll see how much it will destroy. Great thing, if you’re going to write a dystopian story.

Mattbierbaum.github.io/zombies-usa/ → Another great site for zombie stories is this. I only found and used it for the USA, but I’m sure you can get it for other parts of the world as well. Here you can place a zombie and check how much time it’ll take till he comes to a certain place. Furthermore, you can simulate how fast he’ll spread the virus in a certain time. It’s a very interesting thing, and you can practically watch how quick the apocalypse will take down a country.

Oldmapsonline.org → If you are writing a story, which takes place in the past, this site might help you. You can check out old maps and furthermore, you can place them in today's world map and get an idea of how it used to be back then.

Tvtropes.org → You don’t know what kind of story you write? Well, there’s a name for everything. A list of tropes can be found here. Have fun and feel free to tell others what you’re writing.

Nanowrimo.org → I’m not such a fan of this site, BUT as a motivation it might help you to connect with other writers during the nanowrimo – the months in which writing is THE topic! You don’t upload anything there, but you talk to others and share your word counts!

Dafont.com → Most people are using the same font over and over. Sometimes a change in look, can motivate you so much! You can download every kind of font here, and almost everything is for free! (Remember the talk about covers? You can use those fonts for them.)

YouTube → Everybody knows it, but only a little people use it. You can create playlists and make a great soundtrack for your story.

Messletters.com → it’s a great site, if you need a different kind of writing and the page you’re writing only offers a few. You can copy them easily and use them. Furthermore, this site also has a lot of symbols. Check it out and see if it satisfies your aesthetic heart.

DeepL.com → if you require translations, use this one instead of Google translator. You can also upload PPTX data and much more.

Ko-Fi.com → if you want to sell stuff or just a tip from your readers, this site will help you. You can easily create an account and your readers can give you little money as a support.

Timeanddate.com → You want to know what kind of weather it was on a certain date at a certain place? This site will help you.

Schaue einen Film/eine Serie. Lies ein Buch. Lass dich inspirieren. Am besten Genre bezogen zu deinem Text.

Neue Ideen aufschreiben - egal ob es schon einen Bezug gibt. Das kann ein neuer Ansatz sein.

Wie stehen die vorhandenen Charaktere zueinander? Gibt es Familie? Schwärmerei? Hintergründe/Details zum Charakter gestalten. Das hilft oft um die Geschichte lebendig zu machen.

Sprich mit Freunden die deine Geschichte kennen. Auch wieder eine andere Perspektive kann helfen auf Ideen zu kommen die total einleuchtend sind!

Laut lesen.

Musik hören - bestimmte Lieder zu einem Charakter zuordnen. Das kann ungemein inspirieren.

Wir freuen uns über möglichst viele Teilnehmende, denn das zeigt der Uni und den anwesenden Profs, dass großes Interesse an einer wissenschaftlichen Beschäftigung mit dem Thema besteht und kann so den Bereich vorantreiben.

Mein neuer Lieblings-FF-Moment ist "Justus Jonas löst einen Fall vor seinen Kollegen auf von dem sie nicht wussten dass er existiert weil er darin bestand die beiden zu verkuppeln wobei er Jelenas Hilfe gebraucht hat um sich nicht zu verraten und sein eigenes Alibi kaputt zu machen aber das ist dann auch egal weil er es erst auf Shandrews Hochzeit überhaupt erwähnt dass es soweit kam UND IHNEN DANN IHRE EIGENE FUCKING KARTE ÜBERREICHT"
