the amount of times he forgets his name is leo and loke is embarrassing

he had to train himself out of responding to leo when he left blue pegasus (was already conditioned to only respond to karen calling out to him, if any human did). there were too many people talking about karen or leo the constellation or leo the spirit for the first few months after her death and he tried to make it not affect him by just. discarding it and taking up loke

which worked until he became leo the spirit again. it was fine sometimes, because the humans he was around most often still called him loke for the most part, but being back in the celestial world? nightmare. 'leo, can you get me the wine?' 'leo, let me cut that mane of yours' 'leo, we have a meeting in thirty' 'leo, lucys far moooo-re receptive to my flirts than yours'

it got to the point where, around the oración seis arc, loke had two masks, similar to that celestial eclipse arc in the anime. there was loke the human and leo the spirit. loke would flirt unabashedly with anything that moved, leo would focus on the mission first and relationships second. loke would grab almost anything someone handed him, leo would be far more reserved and skeptical. loke would eat almost as much as natsu for the hell of it, leo would never touch human food.

when aries showed up on tenrou, he had such an identity crisis it heavily impacted his fighting ability. he was summoned as leo, so he was trying his damnedest to not let distractions cloud his judgement, to not let relationships hinder him, to not let memories drag him down. but aries was right there and his own memories were pulling the loke mask up while still drowning him in hurt and pain and he dealt with that with the loke mask but he was summoned as leo

the more he's been able to heal from karen, the more he's able to be both leo and loke at the same time. sometimes he jokingly ignores the other spirits when they call for leo. sometimes he genuinely forgets when the humans call for loke. sometimes he gets such whiplash when a spirit calls him loke or a human calls him leo that he just short-circuits for a solid ten seconds.

it gets to the point some of the more reactive ones (aquarius, lucy, freed, sting, etc.) start calling him 'lion'. and he still forgets that he's the lion spirit, come on dude—

Somehow only just hit me for the very first time that Lucy figured out Loke was a spirit because Grandpa Crux refused to elaborate on his and Karen Lilica's relationship; personal privacy laws, as he explicitly stated, apply to the Celestial World. Lucy must've had enough background knowledge on the laws to realize which kinds of relationships they'd pertain to.

I'll also bet that because Grandpa Crux wanted Lucy to save Loke (he later appeared on Leo's behalf before the Celestial Spirit King) he was careful about what info he gave Lucy, and how. He wanted her to put the pieces together.

So uh when was I gonna be told that Loke has an attack that is similar in style to the dragon slayers roar that he uses only during the S-class trials when countering Wendy.

Like that would have been useful when he was helping fight the guards in the palace during GMG or when Lamia scale was being attacked by hordes of monsters.

Was it just forgotten that this happened? Probably. The amount of pieces of info that just get forgotten is immense.

I'm not sure if you've answered anything like this previously but do you have any headcanons about how everyone present was effected by future lucys death (lucy, natsu, happy, wendy and loke)

I don't think I've done this but I def have ideas!

Lucy

She has a lot of nightmares about it. Lucy often wakes up clutching her chest. Almost feeling the pain of dying herself

Sometimes during fights, Lucy gets a flashback to it happening and ends up getting injured because of her loss of focus

Lucy knows she needs to get control over the flashbacks. It could end in her actually dying. But no matter what she does, the flashbacks always stay

She shakes now during battles. She always knew she could die during a fight but actually seeing it and coming so close herself has really gotten to her

That's why she trains so much now. Lucy is terrified of being too weak to save herself

Natsu

Natsu is always watching her to make sure she doesn't get hurt like that ever. Including in guild brawls

He could barely sleep for the first week after it happened. All he could see when he closed his eyes was her dying

He washed her blood off his body, but Natsu feels like it'll never actually be gone. Sometimes when he looks at his hands, all he can see is her blood

Natsu has to hangout at Lucy's house after every battle. If he doesn't he won't be able to sleep. He needs to see that she's safe

Happy

Happy always makes sure to grab Lucy first when things go south

Natsu used to complain about Happy leaving him to take the blow, but when Happy broke down and explained how he never wanted to watch Lucy get hurt again. Natsu understood

Happy is literally glued to Lucy's side now (not that he wasn't before), if she separates from the group he follows her. Just to make sure she's safe

He cries every time Lucy gets injured and has flashbacks to her death. Happy is always the first to visit her in the hospital too

Wendy

While it's not the first time Wendy has lost people. It is the first time she has watched someone get murdered

Besides the obvious trauma of seeing someone die, Wendy also gets thrown into flashbacks of all the people she'd lost over the years. And it sends her spiraling for weeks

She hides it well, but Carla can tell that Wendy isn't okay. And makes Wendy talk to her about it.

Wendy has a full breakdown and talks about how everyone she loves ends up leaving her in some way and that she has to be able to save them because she can't take anymore loss

That's when Wendy starts working on new healing spells. She searches for the strongest magic she can find and she masters every spell. She decided that no one will ever die if she is around

Loke

He's rocked to his core. The only thing he asked the Celestial Spirit King was to let him look after Lucy and Loke had failed

He had watched her die right in front of him. It wasn't his exact Lucy but it was still Lucy

He goes back to the spirit world face pale with splatters of Lucy's blood on his suit. The rest of the spirits freak out

Loke never plays around with Lucy summoning him anymore. He always shows up no matter what he's doing (even dates)

He ends up taking a lot more hits now, because he is more focused on making sure Lucy doesn't get hurt

Every minor injury she receives hits Loke like a bullet. He's so worried about her all the time

I decided to re-watch Fairytail and I’ve come across the episodes that started my love for angst storylines I think.

Loke/Laxus has me intrigued actually, any headcanons for that?

As with all things, I can give it my best shot!

Loke was furious with Laxus, to a degree above the rest of the guild, when he had the nerve to show his face after leaving the guild to fight Phantom Lord on their own. He attempted to fight Laxus 1v1 for it, but rather than get his ass summarily whooped as anyone else would have, Laxus just let Loke wear himself out trying to hurt him. It wounded Loke's already low self-esteem much more than punching him outright would have.

Any grudge over that disappeared after Tenrou Island, because Laxus was there when everyone needed help and Loke wasn't.

Loke was the one who referred Laxus to Master Bob, having previously been contracted to a Blue Pegasus wizard, thus facilitating Laxus and the Thunder Legion's stay there during Fairy Tail's year of disbandment.

Laxus and Freed (and Evergreen) were all immensely popular among the women there and hoo boy, did that rile up Loke something fierce. Loke was immediately on 100% power, and did everything in his power to try and make his 'turf' his again.

It didn't work.

Because some of these headcanons have to be funny and unserious or I'll eventually run out of steam, this made Loke so pissed the he decided he'd just date Laxus himself so as to keep all the ladies from migrating into his pocket.

Laxus literally agrees for shits and giggles.

Loke is in a pickle because none of his usual so-cheesy-it-actually-works flirting strategies work on Laxus. For that matter, Loke can't fulfill the role he usually prefers to take in relationships, which is the knight in shining armor and the guy who keeps the other party swooning and blushing at all times.

Because I admittedly had trouble concept-ing this ship as Fairy Tail characters, I'm gonna replace the usual NS/FW section with an AU section:

Loke is the real name of a veteran competitive gamer who goes by the online handle Leo (and yes, he can be a furry if you're the type to stan SonicFox or whatever).

He's serious stuff--your friendly neighborhood gamerbro jocks who think they're hot shit at video games would find their asses virtually nuked if they tried to 1v1 him. Games are his life.

He has just started to really build his empire online and translate the world of success in video gaming into something resembling a celebrity-style dating life, when he's challenged by a newcomer only known by the handle "Thunder God". No pfp, no information known, never speaks over voice chat or types messages. He thinks he'll whoop him like all the rest.

You already know what happens--the shocking upset, and legendary gamer Loke is summarily beaten (probably while streaming in front of like 3,000 people) by this mysterious no-face.

This starts up a very public debate wherein Loke is at risk of losing his title and status if he loses again, should Thunder God show his face--because Thunder God is now out there, casually destroying other gaming legends like some silent, deadly assassin. Loke does some investigating all the way down to hiring white-hat hacker Lucy Heartfilia, and decides to find out who this guy is.

When he finally meets up with the guy, he naturally thinks the guy who answers the door is Thunder God's older brother--actually, what he asks is "are you Laxus' dad?" and the death glare he receives induces f e a r.

For reference, Laxus is a 6'3" masc4masc built like a power lifter. His jawline has probably killed people before and his broody vaguely unhappy stare is more suited to indebted college students than pro gamers. Loke flat-out does not believe him when he says he's the Thunder God.

Admittedly, Loke doesn't look much like the picture of 'pro gamer' either--he's handsome and popular and those stylish blue glasses are now an official part of his merch line.

It doesn't take much convincing, though--one round at Super Smash Bros with the most embarrassing joke of a character Laxus can find, and the proof is right there. From there on out, a rivalry is cemented, with Loke swearing to beat Laxus in an upcoming tournament and Laxus basically going "yeah, whatever".

Said rivalry starts to turn to affection when Laxus actually...asks Loke to hang out some time. It turns out Laxus is kind of lonely, and Loke basically won't deny him attention if it comes with an attempt to finally beat him at their preferred game. Loke takes it as an opportunity to try and figure out Laxus' tricks, while Laxus uses it to get a cute guy to talk to him.

When Loke actually starts to see Laxus in a different light--as opposed to some upstart asshole threatening his throne--is when Laxus shows him his garage. It's basically a merch display except instead of merch it's priceless gaming arcade memorabilia, all working. You turn off the lights, and the whole place lights up in flourescent and neon lightning like some arcade-hopping teen's fantasy in the 90s. Laxus' dad (Ivan) was a deadbeat who gamed all day instead of finding a job, which is why Laxus is a missed bill away from being destitute...but he left Laxus some killer gaming instincts.

It turns out Laxus is kind of an 'ex-con' of the gaming world--information Lucy and her hacker friend Levy manage to dig up. He was banned from several gaming tournaments because of violent behavior and threats, rendering all his skill at gaming virtually irrelevant. Lucy and Levy recommend using this for blackmail's sake--either Laxus throws the tournament so Loke can keep his title, or Loke can expose his identity if he wins, thus rendering the victory null.

Loke can't go through with it, obviously. It turns out all that time spent with Laxus resulted in *choking noise* actually liking him.

The tournament happens, and predictably, the last two to make it past all the brackets are Loke and Laxus. The two major differences between this match and all the others is that a) Loke actually sort of holds his own, having practiced against Laxus so many times and b) Laxus actually makes use of text chat. They send messages back and forth throughout their fight.

It's long-winded, but Laxus wins, effectively becoming the Rey Mysterio of the gaming world. Loke, however, gets to keep his reputation intact by taking his career off in a new direction. After the courtesy 'good game man' messages left in chat, Loke types out 'wanna go out to dinner sometime'.

Laxus accepts in front of like a million viewers and boom, they're a power couple now.

the ophiuchus isn't a 'thirteenth gate', it is a black key. one of twelve, all of whom are older than the current iterations of the golden zodiacs. because they were the golden zodiacs.

to start near the beginning: zeref and anna didn't create the eclipse gate. they found uncompleted schematics for it and finished it. its first creation was thousands of years earlier. it was the turning point in time, causing a distinction of 'before' and 'after'. 'before' being 000x, with 'after' being x000.

the twelve golden zodiacs and their masters were the ones spearheading the creation of the gate, but there were plenty of silver keys that had helped in secret. they wanted to go back in time and stop a particularly devastating war from wiping out too many humans.

all was fine, with the celestial spirit king either none the wiser or purposefully turning a blind eye--no one could tell. until they needed to activate the gate. that was the main part of the schematics that were missing, and anna heartfilia learned that all twelve of the golden gate keys could sustain it without any sacrifice.

that was not known in 000x.

ophiuchus was known at the time as 'pisces'. a daughter and her father, for every iteration of pisces has to be a duo of some sort.

the daughter sacrificed her unwilling father to open the gate. two became one.

the only reason she is called anything other than 'the disgraced pisces' is because yukino agria has the current pisces key. and it is... not quite forbidden for the current zodiacs to interact with the black keys, but it's certainly not looked upon highly.

aquarius sacrificed his and his master's weapon and the plans to make more. one that was a fusion of celestial steel and mortal iron. a harmony between the two realms, destroyed forever.

taurus spilt the blood of his master's lover despite multiple orders not to. there was no compulsion to follow the order. no magic binding his will to his master's. now there is.

sagittarius threw his horse into the spell. two became one, once again.

gemi and mini split themselves in half and sewed one half of their bodies together, using the other halfs as their sacrifice. they shared one head, fused two halves of a brain into one, and only had two arms and two legs. they kept one heart for themselves.

cancer and her master had built the gate in their estate, purposefully drawing the magic circles big enough to swallow the grounds whole. a family house, cut out of existence.

virgo dressed her masters up in the prettiest of celestial clothing. she fed them well and with ingredients gathered from the celestial realm. they drank from the milky-way and feasted upon the stars. and she tied them up like hogs and left them within the consumption circles.

aries took the prized statue he made for the spirit king and ripped it from their realm, letting it break and shatter across the marked circle.

scorpio made a deal with his new master, one that came about after the gate began construction. an elderly widower ill with heartbreak. if he helped with the creation of the gate, scorpio would ensure that he meets his husband in the afterlife. a promise he was unable to keep, for the gate took hold of everything given to it and did not let go.

capricorn gave up his own body. he transferred his consciousness to a goat and used his magic to mold it into a humanoid shape.

libra gave up everything that was hers. her home in the realms, her magic, her symbol. she became little more than dust until her master helped her succeed at gravity magic.

leo had no master. he had no home in the realms, no art that he mastered, nothing in particular that he could give up. except for the one that gave him this freedom. his human wife. and their daughter. and their granddaughter. he wasn't able to use the granddaughter in the sacrifice--his daughter had a vision mere days before the gate was finished and sent her daughter to an orphanage.

the gate didn't work. it took and it took and it took, but it did not rewind time. the celestial spirit king, who saw all that was fed to this faulty device, knew he had to do something.

he banished all twelve of the golden zodiacs from the celestial spirit realm. this was long before he knew how to bar them from the stars, however, so the most he could do was rip them from their constellations and keys and place them within a new part of the sky. place them within darkened keys that had another part to them--a magical and mechanical piece that had to be near the keys in order for a summoning to work.

for pisces, it was a flower that the father gave to the daughter before they were golden. the very one that rests within yukino agria's hair, that changes color and is never destroyed.

despite the many millennia that separates them, the current iterations of the golden zodiacs can still remember parts of their first lives. not the contexts, not the reasonings, not the minutiae of it all. just little snippets.

loke wasn't as surprised as he should've been when karen died. he's always had the resolve to kill his masters, after all. he's just thankful that he feels remorse for it this time. he's grown since that first life, with his heart and his little philea's blood on his hands, a distant and cold sense of triumph barely remembered.
