RAHASIA ILMU P.RAMLEE

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of summer. Not just the sun and the warmth but most importantly, the festival season. When the festival lineup announcements start popping up in the spring, I get all giddy and start drafting a schedule of the ones I’ll definitely be attending that year.
When one of our favourite radio stations, Rebel 101.7, announced they will be hosting the 7th Mountain Man Festival at Calabogie Peaks Resort only an hour away from Ottawa, it was pretty much a no-brainer to go and check out the weekend festivities.
The Weather Network was posting not-so-promising forecasts with thunder storms and tornado warnings, but what kind of festival goer would I be if I let that scare me from not attending?!

Friday-Day 1
I headed over to Calabogie on Friday evening for the first night of festival well prepared with a rain coat and protective sleeves for my camera gear only to be greeted with clear skies and a small cheerful crowd. My only regret that evening would be forgetting to bring bug spray as the vicious black flies decided to attack my face as soon as I entered the festival grounds eventually resulting to a red and swollen eye and bloody face.  But physical injuries aside, the first evening was the night of rocknroll and beers, and no bugs were going to stop that.
Crossing Jane opened the evening with an energetic set of covers, before letting Toronto’s Diemonds loose on stage. The front woman Priya Panda’s powerful vocals and the extremely talented guitarists CC Diemond and Daniel Dekay’s guitar solos were bound to deliver exactly what the crowd came to see, badass rocknroll.

Friday evening’s headliner was Saskatoon’s One Bad Son who have within the past few years been releasing a hit single after a hit single.  The band put on a one hell of a rock show on Friday night, and it’s hard not to have a couple of their songs stuck in your head for the rest of the week or two.

Saturday-Day 2
Still buzzing from the festival’s first night, I decided to allow myself to sleep in and headed back to Calabogie early afternoon on Saturday and sadly missed the first two acts, Kyle Lalone and Toronto’s The Owns.

I made it to the festival right on time when Ottawa’s Iconoclast was starting their set. Having recently gone through some lineup changes after guitarist Dave Di Ubaldo’s move to British Columbia, the band was playing one of their first shows with their newest addition, bassist Fahim Rahman, who is also known from Aenigma. The charismatic singer Marc Bourgon and his band were able to wake up the afternoon crowd for the next act on the bill, Ottawa’s sleaze rockers, In Heat.
In Heat’s shows are guaranteed to be entertaining and I’m always excited to see which outfit the singer Lexxi Splitlip will be wearing for the show. Festival’s younger audience clearly found the band’s performance intriguing and parked themselves right in front of the stage, and were rewarded when guitarist Brent Walker walked over to get them help him play.

Next in the lineup was Hellbros, who not only have been branded Canada’s loudest rock band, but also spread their wings on their first European tour last summer. The singer Peter Just not only has an impressive set of lungs, but has clearly sharpened his comedy skills bantering back and forth with drummer Josh Roy in between the songs.

The evening’s first headliner, Montreal’s The Damn Truth have been getting a lot of media within the past year, since singer Lee-la Baum’s heart wrenching rendition of Love is Blindness in the YSL commercial last year.
Baum’s amazing chops and style have been compared to none other than Janis Joplin’s and she has clearly chosen the right band to back her up, and they all played seamlessly together for the one hour set to adoring fans.

Much anticipated The Glorious Sons closed off the second night of the festival with noticeably larger crowd from the first night and towards the first half of the set, the skies finally opened and sprinkled some rain on the  festival crowd who did not care.
Singer Brett Emmons paced the stage bare feet with a wine bottle in his hand and lovingly roughed up with his bandmates during the songs. The audience left the festival grounds satisfied with day full of some of Canada’s finest rocknrollers.

Sunday-Day 3
Hesitating for a split second on Sunday morning after seeing the tornado warning on the weather app, I packed up my gear for the last afternoon of Mountain Man Festival. I narrowly missed the opener, Infrared, and got on site for Ottawa’s metal band A Scar For The Wicked.

All the tents had already disappeared from the camping area but a handful of most loyal fans were head banging in front of the stage in the scorching early afternoon sun.
Gatineau’s Inire closed the festival with an extra long set after the last band of the day was unable to make it, and they certainly gave their all, and the audience that was still left on site was ecstatic.

This year’s attendance numbers might have not been the highest, but the crowd was most certainly enthusiastic. Calabogie Peaks is a wonderful venue for a smaller scale festival like Mountain Man, and the organizers had done a great job with booking amazing bands and setting up the grounds.
Us here at Sound Check Entertainment are not alone hoping that Mountain Man festival keeps on going for us to enjoy for the next years to come.

How Pathao is empowering the youth of Bangladesh.
Minhazur Rahman Khan
ID:143011154
"He alone, who owns the youth gains the future"
                                                                                                                        Adolf Hitler
For any nation, youth are the striking element without them no nation will be able to conquer the goals that they want to attain. Youth creates "power" and this energy is so robust that it can bring independence to a nation from any dictator or build a nuclear bomb that has been dropped on this planet. They are the artisan, who will lead the whole world from their perspective and their new thoughts about something or somebody. They will create a crucial modification that no one has ever addressed it before. Furthermore, youths are the most pivotal resource that a country posses. Likewise, the development of youth is paramount for any state their development will change the whole country. For instance, Bangladesh, one-third of the population is youth (the age group is 15-35). If this segment of the population can be nurtured and integrated approaches like Skill training, technical education study of moral sense which is slowly disappearing from this world then we can gift a prosperous future for our future generations.
"Pathao"  is the brainchild of three entrepreneurs Hussain M Elius, Fahim Saleh and Adnan Shifat and it was founded in 2015. The question is why "Pathao" was created? Well for any entrepreneur the prime goal is to identify the problem what people face on and provide a solution to that problem. In an interview the CEO of "Pathao" Hussain M Elius was asked how you have come up with an idea, he said it all started when he started his undergrad. The university was very far from the house it took 2 hours to reach his university every day which was really annoying for him, due to this hassle he was thinking of other alternatives which can ease his transportation and save time as well. So he discussed this idea " Pathao" with his other co-founders and they decided to put it in a trial. At the inception of his journey, he operated " Pathao" through  a Facebook group and the interested people were added. People who were interested to use "Pathao" services they communicated via the group. Gradually the pace of ride sharing was getting its speed and after  couple months ""Pathao"" found its customer segment that it aimed for It did not stop here there were other areas that they  focused on such as Delivery of goods which is known as "Pathao" Parcel and Delivery of foods known as "Pathao" Foods.
After the independence Bangladesh has never encountered 6% GDP growth which shook the whole world and economic growth brings lots of opportunities for the people. According to UN report, Dhaka ranked 8th populous city in the world and the byproduct is jam-packed as well as traffic speed 7 kph which is slightly above the walking speed of commuter. The shift of Bangladesh economy was imminent from agricultural to industrial sector. There are identical service services like "Pathao" but "Pathao" found an innovative track that no one was looking it’s the fleet of motorcycles. Motorcycles are one of the favorite jalopy among the youths. Motorcycles are considered one of the best vehicles in the world because its small in size takes less space than the car and compatible and speed. At the debut of "Pathao", they had a fleet of  100 motorbikes and this requires 100 drivers to operate the bikes, but now they 500 freelancers bikers who served three to average on average as time flies "Pathao" expanded his operations around the country. Furthermore, due to the increase of population and congested traffic and slow-moving vehicles like Rickshaw are becoming an obstacle for Dhaka. As a result, the high demand for motorcycles has been observed among youths. People are inclining towards motorcycles due to their benefits e.g. mobility of the vehicle. This has led to business to use the motor as a medium of transport to improve their logistics. (Shahriar,2018 )On the other hand many businesses like SME(Small Medium Industries to high-end business ventures are using motorcycles to meet up short to medium distance logistic by using motorcycles or "Pathao" parcel service.
Before 2050, fifty percent of the population of Bangladesh population will be youth, they will be prime drivers of the country."Pathao" is popular among youth because it gives liberty and hegemony regarding the "Pathao" commercial services. They have the opportunity to draw money and use the services according to their own will, being a student the flexibility "Pathao" offers to their stakeholders is admirable. A self-employed person who wish to work all they need a cycle/bike and a smartphone and they are ready to get in action. On the other hand, Pataho has thousands of self-employed people who operate on a daily basis and this has led to income generation and providing sustainability to them. Rhythm of condition
Final project report: Rhythm of condition
Group theme explanation: we named our group project rhythm of condition. Our theme is basically based on very old thoughts of our society. Most of the people of our society think that if any of us lead our life by following art culture or doing music or different forms of arts, we are drug addicted. Which is completely a thing that has no base? In our graffiti we make a musical tree which represents us. We drew two trees. One is the smallest and another tree is bigger than that. Small trees represent our childhood and another tree which is full of different types of musical instruments are present to us in the present time. Basically we are trying to present our freedom so that we can do whatever we like. It’s not mandatory that if I’m doing any creative work we don’t need to drug ourselves.

  Final painting:
●          We use so many elements in our painting. We used two trees. Different types of music instruments. Different shapes of birds and some sign languages. When we design our layout we make two different types of trees. We make the size of our trees that cover the wall perfectly. We put music instruments in the big tree. Different shapes and sizes of bird are also put over the tree. We make our elements in different sizes and shapes which create a good composition. We make our trees and musical instruments colorful and some of the birds are also colorful. In this case we are trying to make a psychedelic color by using light colors and draw a border line by using white color that creates a depth and clear the massage. We also drew some black birds, musical notes and some drug signs. These things are also surrounded by white borders. This border and the mixer of color and the raw background give audience an illusion and a depth that can helped to delivered our message easily
●          In our painting we used two musical trees that define us one tree represents our childhood and another one represent the present time. And the birds are used as freedom in our life. The colorful birds represent freedom and the black birds represent that freedom is hard to use in the right way. We also used some musical notes dropping that represent bullying from the society. We also used some signs that represent drugs. We use a syringe and a marijuana leaf and put a stop or no sign to give a message that says no to drugs.
●          Our painting is based on our cultural myth. It has a deep connection to our culture. Our world is moving forward too fast. And culture is not constant. Every culture changed too fast. But in our country we cannot accept it. When someone is attached to art culture or music or any sort of out of the box thing. We all are trying to oppress him or her without encouragement. Basically we are trying to give a message to break this myth of our society.
After finishing our work we are not very satisfied. Because we don’t have much idea about color. The color we think we didn’t have. Our layout also gave us so many difficulties. We can’t deliver the proper layout we made. It’s very difficult to cut the layout and get that detailing. But as a first timer we try our best to do a good job.
The strength of our art is the message. I think most of the people who follow art culture in their life suffer from society the most. So we want to know the mass of people that support the artist and encourage them to make good work.
If we made this again we will make a layout that should be easy to cut and make good detailing. We will add more elements that could make our message more powerful. And especially we will give more attention to the color.
